I Attended The University Symphony Orchestra Concert
I attended the University Symphony Orchestra Concert on Sep 30. Being my first ever symphony
orchestra concert, the excitement was at its peak. I learned about the concert before so that I could
understand a bit more about what is being played and the history of that piece. Reached UCA before
time so that I could find a seat for myself and glance through the program book. When I sat down,
there were already musicians on stage who were wearing formal black clothes, some of the musicians
started working on the passages they needed to polish up before the performance, with no regard for
what anyone else is practicing. With time, the hall started to fill up and just before start, I could see
that it s a full house. I didn t know that so many people love Symphony. I could see that the number of
string instrument were far more then brass or woodwind instrument. As I was observing the musicians
I saw my TA Courtney Pham on flutes. The conductor of this concert was Wes Kenny, who came on
stage with fourteen years of experience. And also featuring performance by famous Caleb Hudson on

Geoffrey Chaucer introduces a wide variety of characters to the readers of The Canterbury Tales. From

issues facing our society, I agree with his statement. I believe that there would be a civil war against
our democratic government. The government members take advantage of their power in some

Living a good life and trying to pursue the unattainable utopian society takes power, but not everyone
has the power to make these things reality. The good life and the utopian society will stay elusive
unless one has the ambition to want to thrive and fight for power and control over their own life. The
Truman Show, directed by Peter Weir, conveys the idea that everyone has a different perspective as to
what the good life and utopia is so, in order to obtain it, Truman must fight for the power and freedom
to control his own life. Likewise, in Animal Farm, George Orwell explores how the animals believe
that to be able to obtain the unreachable utopian society and good life they must first have power and
control over their own lives. To do so they must get rid of Mr Jones, but they soon grow to realise that
even once you have power and control, too much power can easily be abused.
A good life is a term for the life that one would like to live. It s a life in which one has the freedom to
self direct their own life. Truman has the perfect wife, the perfect house, perfect job and perfect
friends but does that really matter if he doesn t have freedom? In The Truman Show, Weir expresses
that without freedom the good life is unattainable, one can never truly be happy and content with their
life unless they have freedom. We see this most clearly when Truman is so determined to Thrive in life
and escape from the dome that the good life Christof has endowed for him doesn t matter.

The Mother is an allusion to The Soldier , which glorifies war and the death of soldiers. The Mother is
the complete opposite, imparting the horrible realities of war, creating a very melancholy and sombre
tone. The poem starts with similar word choices as The Soldier but written in the perspective of the
