Designing Customizable And Programmable Robots Essay
I still freshly remember that, as a six years old little boy, I dreamed to be a wizard because
nothing is more fantastic than creating objects with your own abilities. At the age of eight, I had a
taste of dream coming true: my parents bought me a Lego Robotic Command eXplorers (a robot kit
that contains software and hardware to create customizable and programmable robots). I built the
robots body structure using limited Legoblocks and gave it life by programming. In the next 9
years, Lego robot kits have been an essential component of my childhood. I learned basic robotic
rules and skills in primary school, practiced robotic assembling and manipulation in middle school,
and started to show my talent in high school. I lead my team and won the first place in the First
Lego League(FLL) three times in China and Best Programming Prize worldwide (FLL is a
global robotic competition hold by First and Lego). Finally, I found Beijing No.4 High School
Robotic Club in my sophomore year and the club remains to be one of the most popular clubs after
four years.
Lego robots were the most important part of my adolescence life. However, when I stood on the
podium to accept the grand prize, I felt confused and lost. In the FLL competition field, we used
robots to help refugees, solve neurons puzzles, and even explore Mars. But we did not actually
help or change anyone s life: every exciting mission was done within the competition field. Those
refugees were still suffering; those

The Pros And Cons Of Performance-Based Budgeting
Budgeting is a process to plan budget which is used to describe fiscal expectation, expenditure and
future planning of an individual, organization or government within a given period of time
(Olawale, et al. 2012). Up until now, there are many methods of budgeting for governments such as
traditional (line item) budgeting, zero based budgeting, and performance based budgeting. Due to its
simplicity, the traditional budgeting which listed groups of expenditure using last year s data such
as office supplies, salary, electricity bill and used incremental approach on them (Navin, 2003) has
become the most popular one in many countries. However, many people criticize this budgeting
method because many believe that this budgeting method is ineffective and inefficient . As a result,
since 1990s, many countries have reformed their budgeting method to performance based budgeting
which use performance information in budgetprocesses (Lee and Wang, 2009). Despite the trend of
budgeting reform in the world, some developed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some countries performance based budgeting is known as budgeting results and performance
funding (OECD, 2007). Young (2003) stated that most experts agree that, Performance based
budgeting (PBB) is the allocation of funds to achieve programmatic goals and objectives as well as
some indication or measurement of work, efficiency, and/or effectiveness . PBB links directly the
expected results and resource requirements (Navin, 2003). It is clearly shown that result is the focus
of this budgeting method. Navin (2003) also said that performance measure is important in PBB
because it shows whether the activities of the government departments actually make a difference
in people s life. Although performance would not be the only factor in a budget allocation decision,
it has a significant contribution in the decision making process because it could give better informed

The Book Thief Rhetorical Analysis
The Book Thief, written by Australian novelist Markus Zusak, follows a young girl living in Nazi
Germany, and employs innovative techniques to convey the central idea of the extremes of human
behavior. This central idea was explored through stylistic techniques and conventions such as Death
as the narrator, juxtaposition, irony, lack of chronological order, narrative voices, and themes,
namely the power of words.
In The Book Thief, Markus Zusak used narrative voices to convey extremes of human behavior.
The characters through which he conveyed these innovated techniques are Death, the narrator, and
Max Vandeburg, a central character. Death s narrative voice was distant and provided juxtaposition
on the kindness and cruelty of humans through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

highlights Hitler s hatred for Jewish people. The words in this story enforced the cruelty of

of Mein Kampf to write his own story, The Standover Man which he would gift to Liesel, Max
had cut out a collection of pages from Mein Kampf and painted them over in white. This novel

New Orleans Police Department – Recent Challenges. Problem
New Orleans Police Department Recent Challenges
Problem Statement Even before the disaster brought on by Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans
Police Department had serious organizational and reporting issues. According to the United States
Department of Justice Civil Rights Division (2011), several patterns were clearly discoverable in
the organization, including the excessive use of force, under reporting of internal issues,
discriminatory policing, and the number of misconduct complaints were high. The issues that the
Police Force faced for long years before 2005 were, however, only revealed after the flood receded,
and an investigation into the internal affairs of the organization started. The below research will

Government intervention was needed, and an investigation had to be started. Thomas E. Perez,
Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, in a press release, focusing on the
findings of the investigation, stated: Our findings show that the problems facing the NOPD are
wide ranging, systemic, and deeply rooted in the culture of the Department (The United States
Department of Justice, 2011). A sustainable reform was needed. The investigation report (United
States Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, 2011) identified the main organizational
deficiencies as the lack of clear policies, recruitment practices that failed to prioritize high quality
candidates, the lack of training and support provided for the members of the Force, the lack of
supervision, and the Paid Details system. Further, there were several failings in the organization
related to performance evaluation and promotions, complaint handling and investigation,
adjudication, and NOPD lacked a vision of community oriented policing. The cross examination
practices of the Police Force were likewise seen to be insufficient. Victim sensitivity was another
issue that weighed on the New Orleans Police Department: people group were not included in
policy making needs, and there was no connection with its occupants. As a result, people stopped
trusting NOPD. Some of the complaints brought against New Orleans Police

Taking a Look at Mental Illnesses
Mental illnesses are a serious matter that affect a person as much as someone with a physical
illness. Mental illnesses are medical conditions that affect a person s mental health. They are as
serious as other disorders such as diabetes and should be treated as so. The amount of talk by
those who aren t well informed and often assume has created many misconceptions about mental
illnesses. In order to successfully make those around people with mental illnesses to be aware of
the harm these disorders cause a person these misconceptions need to be cleared. Mental illnesses
need to be treated like the threat they indeed are like real illnesses.
Mental illnesses are conditions in which a person s mental health is affected to a point that they
aren t able to cope with life s expectations. An example is a common known disorder known as
depression, when someone experiences depression they may feel like they no longer want to thrive
and be happy in their life. This happens due to the amount of brain activity the disorder causes to

Philosophies Of Enlightenment Philosophers
Philosophies That Take Our World
All of the great thinkers throughout history have the theme of choice evident in their works. The
world in the 17th and 18th century was changing fast with leading science and religious diversity.
The Enlightenment saw this ever changing world and worked on the psychological side of it. There
was thousands of Enlightenment philosophers who met and discussed their ideas of the human
psyche. Great thinkers like John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft s
philosophies still thrive today in western civilization. If fractions of a society cannot function as a
whole, a society will never thrive. The general argument made by Voltaire in his work Letters
Concerning The english Nation, is that all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that if the government fails men can make choices for the good and still thrive. This is
seen when Locke says The people are at liberty to provide for themselves, y erecting a new
legislative (Locke). Its is people s natural duty to self preserve, by making the right decisions in
creating a new government.
In Adam Smith s Wealth Of Nations argues that individual decision making make up a government
s economic success. More specifically Smith argues that when people make the choice to better
themselves it will better the society as a whole. Smith shows this when he writes, Every individual
necessarily [contributes to] the annual revenue of the society as great as he can (Smith). In this
work Smith is suggesting that when people make the choice to better themselves they also
contribute to the better of a society.
In Mary Wollstonecraft s work A Vindication of the Rights of Women, She argues that if women
can think and contribute to society just like men. Wollstonecraft argues that if women are given and
equal opportunity to get an education they will succeed, by allowing them [women ] to participate
in the inherent rights of mankind. Make them free, and they will quickly become wise and virtuous
(Wollstonecraft). This shows that women have the same right to learn and contribute to society if
they are given the choice to an

Baranczak And Trzeciak
In the Nobel Lecture written in 1996, Szymborska pinpoints the inspiration of her poetry by asking
the question I don t know . Szymborska continues to elaborate on this concept by stating it s just not
easy to explain to someone else what you don t understand yourself. Using this notion to pinpoint
the themes she develops throughout the context of her poems, she portrays The End and the
Beginning through two contradicting ideas that refer back to the concept of I don t know. The title
itself interprets a contrastof two opposite ideas, the end and the beginning. But what do these themes
represent? These two different perspectives are elaborated within each translation. The poem begins
by introducing this aspect, After every war someone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Referring to the concept of the two perspectives, Szymborska s diction, tone, and imagery
introduces a theme of war. She titles the poem this way to express one perspective of war, which is
defined through the context of the poem, the end. This aspect is thoroughly emphasized through
Baranczak and Cavanaugh s translation. The diction provided by Baranczak and Cavanaugh s
translation provides the tone and imagery that form this poem. The descriptive element in this
literary work creates an effect of imagery. The audience can vividly comprehend the idea that
Szymborska introduces unlike Trzeciak s translation, which expresses a more concise tone. The
brevity of her translation makes the piece less descriptive and introduces little imagery. Baranczak
and Cavanaugh s translation acknowledges the tone of the poem, which is the acknowledgment of
the end of the war instead of the beginning. The meaning of the end and the beginning can reflect
multitudes of themes. Szymborska s diction introduces the theme of war. This theme is better
acknowledged through the descriptive and elaborative elements of Baranczak and Cavanaugh s

Immigration Essay
My thoughts on Immigration Submitted by: Dhara Shah The major reason people emigrate from
their homelands is better future aspects such as better financial stability, better working hours and
better living standards. Despite all these opportunities, there are many issues that immigrants face
while trying to obtain the equality in their status quo. Some of these issues are different visa levels,
job insecurities, racial discrimination, language problems and cultural barriers that each and every
immigrant has to cope up with. Initially, all immigrants face cultural clashes and have difficulty in

Hence, many immigrants land up doing menial tasks and highly underpaid jobs at gas stations,
provision stores, motels, bakeries, cleaning beauty salons or waiting upon tables in restaurants.
You see huge crowds of people every morning at places like Home Depots where people come
with only one hope work... They are ready to do any job for a meager amount of money. With the
economic recession looming at large, they prefer to have some income rather than go home with
empty hands and starved stomachs. And for illegal immigrants, the situation is even worse. They
cannot legally sign a lease or rent an apartment, cannot have an access to bank accounts and are
not eligible to get any kind of insurance. Even after getting an underpaid job, there is no guarantee
that they would be paid for their work done because if the employer does not pay them, what can
they do?? They cannot report the employer to the police as without any documents, they have no
basis to fight for their rights. They constantly live in the fear of getting deported to their home
country. Many a times, they do not approach a doctor for diagnosing their illness only because they
are afraid that they might not be treated because there are no official records in the US health
department; not to mention that they cannot afford the exorbitant fees of the doctors. These
immigrants can never visit their home country

would be necessary for keeping a house, cooking, and raising children while the men got jobs and

States since the seventeenth century, these schools were typically only open to men. Some
schools did allow women to attend, but only the wealthy. It wasn t until around 1980 that
women were reported as receiving higher education to the same extent as men. Science and
mathematics were thought to be too hard for women to do, so those subjects were left for the
men to study. Often times, women were denied degrees that they had rightfully studied for and

women didn t go to school at all. Most went to grammar school when they were young, but

Analysis Of Cyan s Sunridge Chestnut
Blaze Cyan is a detailed printmaker who works in etching. His artwork beautifully discovers the
intricate beauty of the tree. Starting out by sketching with technical pens and watercolors, Cyan
reworks his pieces until he is able to make them unique. He uses old photographs to create the
artwork, to inspire his imagination and to create new possibilities. Using the structure, shape, and
texture of trees, he creates an image with unity and diversity. Beginning with the sugar lift and
aquatint method, Cyan creates a backdrop that varies in value in the tree. After etching the first
time, hard opaque ground covers the plate, which allows Cyan to create numerous linework. Cyan

His desire is for the viewer to appreciate not only the tree form itself, but also it s character.
Inspiration for creating his pieces come from Victorian illustrators and oriental prints. By
looking at these resources, Cyan came to the realization that no two will ever be alike. Each
piece has unique diversity that sets the individual artwork apart. Sunridge Chestnut illustrates
this idea beautifully as lines are used in different directions and the tree takes on almost a new
shape of its own. One can look at this piece for hours on end, without truly discovering the full
artwork in its totality. Cyan really desires the audience to almost be lost within the picture,
continuing to look for new additions. In Hallowed Etching, Cyan uses multiple shapes and
values to support this idea. One reason why Cyan picked trees as subject matter was because its
growth is gradual over time. Even at the end of human life, a tree will (most likely) still be in
place, calmly growing. The character of every tree evolves into something stronger, deeper, and
represents a ideal that is globally

The Iraq-Iraq War
When the gold mining and gold trade era came to an end, the whole world set its eyes on the next

Analysis Of George Bergeron s The Novel
Charlie Kaufman s upcoming adaptation Harrison Bergeron takes a different approach to the
original short story. In the Vonnegut s story the year is 2081 and the world is finally equal or at
least considered to be that way. Everyone wears handicaps to suppress whatever can give them an
advantage, such as headpieces that stop a person from using their brain, weights to diminish
strength, and masks to hide beauty. The short story looks at the lives of Hazel and George
Bergeron living during this new era. They have a son named Harrison, but he was taken away
before the events of the story. Largely, Vonnegut s story presents itself as a satire to communism;
however Kaufman creates a darker much different perspective. During an early screening of
Kaufman s adaptation the viewer only gets a glimpse of the beginning of the film. Kaufman begins
the narrativeusing the same first line of the short story, the year was 2081 and the world was
finally equal (Vonnegut 7). Yet, there is a noticeable dramatic difference, the narration is told
through George s perspective. The choice is interesting because upon learning this fact the
narration becomes bias. George s narration seems bitter and clearly the system he lives in is not
one that he supports. Still, the perspective is interesting because there is a lot of static during the
narrated moments, presumably from George s handicap. A smart choice as it allows the reader to
understand what the handicap is like through George s eyes. At

Essay On Dried Fruits
What do u prefer, fresh fruits or dried fruits ? Which choice is healthier? A question we may ask
because many people don t like the idea of eating fresh fruits. So the question is : Can we replace
fresh fruits with dried ones ? As everything in life it is choice you have to take. It is a very
commom snack among young children, and adults as well. Drying is a very good way to preserve
foods and use it for a long period of time . As many processed food, it could lose some of its
nutrients . Here is a summary for the steps that are taken for this process:
Heat or air dryness in a good air circulation.
Select fresh, fully ripened fruit .
Dip food in ascorbic acid, citric acid or lemon juice
Condition to 4 to 10 days before packaging

The history of dried food originates long time ago fresh fruits at that time were not available in
all seasons ,so they used these methods so they can find something to eat in the winter seasons.
The before using these fruits they used to reconstituted it with water to add the water what was

In these days dried food is being used as a way to avoid eating eating the fresh fruits. As some

Japanese Discrimination In Ww2 Essay
From the 1930 s to 1940 s millions of ethnic groups experienced unjust persecution stemming from
prejudice and racism. Although we often remember this time for the discrimination the Jews faced
from Nazi Germany, we must also remember the unsubstantiated targeting and imprisonment of
Japanese as well as other ethnicities in America. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Japanese
Americans faced persecution at the hands of the U.S. military, mostly on the West Coast of the
United States. Executive Order 9906, issued and signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt, vested
unwavering amounts of power into the U.S. military, who disproportionately targeted Japanese,
forced them out of their homes, and placed them in internment camps.
For Americans, the day of December 7th, 1941 lives in infamy. The attack on Pearl Harbor by
Japan ushered the United States into joining World War II and an era of suspicion. After the
bombing, many Americans, especially government officials, became wary of citizens of Japanese

America s Growing Coffee Since Colonial Times
Rwandans have been growing coffee since colonial times, but until 1999 the product was classed
below Grade C, making it unsalable on the global markets.[1][2] The farmers did not have the
means to wash and prepare their coffee cherries to specifications in a timely manner. Buyers paid
US$0.33 per kilogram, a price that kept the farmers poor.[3]
In 1999, 220 coffee growers formed an association in the Maraba district (part of the former Butare
Province) to tackle this problem. Many of these farmers had lost family members during the 1994
genocide, while others had husbands in prison, accused of participating in the killings and due to
face trial in the traditional gacaca courts.[4] They named the association Abahuzamugambi, a

PEARL started working with Abahuzamugambi in February 2001 to improve the coffee quality to
standards required by the specialty coffee market in the United States.[5]
The coffee farmers of Maraba first needed a washing station to remove sugar from the coating of
the coffee bean, under the skin. If this sugar is not removed within 12 hours of picking, the flavour
of the coffee is impaired.[6] They built the first station in July 2001 in the Cyarumbo sector, close
to the main road, with funding from UNR, the Office des Cultures Industrielles du Rwanda (OCIR
CafГ©), ACDI/VOCA, and the Institut des Sciences Agronomiques du Rwanda (ISAR). The
opening was late in the harvest season, so only 200 kilograms (441 lb) of that year s harvest were
suitable for washing. However, the results were reasonably good, and the station was upgraded to
allow more coffee to be processed in 2002. To bring mineral water from Mount Huye to the
upgraded station, ACDI/VOCA helped fund a pipeline, which opened in March 2002.[5]
A new certification system was introduced for the 2002 harvest to ensure that beans brought to the
station were of suitable quality. Around half of the Abahuzamugambi membership attained the
certification, which allowed the cooperative to look for serious buyers in the specialty markets of
Europe and North America.[5]

Imagery, Diction, And Tone Of Roethke s Root Cellar
A Plant s Bacchanalia:
Imagery, Diction, and Tone in Roethke s Root Cellar
How can an atmosphere be so unbearable and cold, but evidently full of life and constant
growth? Set in an old, decaying basement, Theodore Roethke addresses this in the poem Root
Cellar. Life is clinging to and climbing over the dirty, damp, and dark possessions of the cellar.
Why is it possible that so much life is present in such a place of shadows? In Root Cellar , Roethke
uses imagery, diction, and tone to display that is possible for life to overcome unbearable
circumstances suggesting that nature is a truly dominant and powerful force.
First, Roethke uses a variety of natural imagery to illustrate the poor conditions of the root
cellar. The imagery is extremely concrete, which is illustrated through the use of sensory
language. By being inside the cellar, multiple senses are engaged, which ranges from smells,
sights, and surfaces to touch. Roethke writes that there were a congress of stinks (6) and then
proceeds to explain them as roots ripe as old bait (7) and leaf mold, manure, lime (9); the sensory
imagery here reveals that the root cellar is not only unpleasant to the eye, but the nose as well.
Additionally, sensory imagery, such as the phrase slippery planks (9) reveals that one might not
want to get too close to the scene. However poor the sensory experience may be for a human, life is
persisting for the plants regardless. The plants are able to strive and continue to grow

Nanosolar s value proposition is its lower cost per watt to purchase and install (see Case page 5).
Because thin film PVs require 43% more roof space per watt generated, it is more valuable to
larger commercial and utility customers than residential customers. Nanosolar s focus should
remain on industrial scale projects that benefit most from its lower installation costs. In order to
approach residential market, significant investment is required to establish installer relationships
(eg. In the US). Nanosolar should also focus on production efficiency (see delay of the 2007
Beck s project (Case page 6.) and hire, train sales staff (has only 1 person in the US and 1 person
in Switzerland). Worldwide Solar Market and Incentives By having its final assembly in Germany,
Nanosolar is geographically positioned to meet the needs of developing countries such as India and
China while distributing its panels throughout Europe. Shipping completed modules to the US
would require additional cost and put it at a disadvantage compared to First Solar which has a
manufacturing plant in Ohio (Exhibit 9). Incentives (governmental regulations require utilities to
purchase renewable electricity at higher rates), can only help the business to become established in
the market, so are important in the short and mid term only. Because European incentives diminish
over time, in the long term all PV technologies will compete based on price and performance

teach the student everything needed to write successfully. This means that they will write better

class is an easy boost for english. All there is to do in this class is to correct work from the

Discuss The Arguments For The Rights And Privileges Of...
In this essay, I will be arguing for the rights and privileges of minority groups. I believe that special
privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe
upon the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several
aspects of society and nation, including equality, nation building, and identity. These three
characteristics of multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority
rights in the face of opposing liberal majority interests. To establish the need for minority rights, the
concept of multiculturalism must first be understood. Kymlicka describes multiculturalism as an
umbrella term for the claims of these ethnocultural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When
minorities are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it
denies minorities their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a
mainstream culture contrary to one s own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own
identity with pride, especially if that society s government does not support your need for rights.
As identity is so crucial in a person s good life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their
right to celebrate the practices of their culture or religion. Despite identity being considered a
fairly basic right in modern society, it is also where most of the issues surrounding minority rights
occur. Giving a group of people the right to practice a religion seems inherently just at first glance,
however what happens if the groups beliefs conflict with the liberal majority s concept of human
rights? In instances where the beliefs of the minority directly conflict with the goals of the state
(to protect its citizens), I believe it is justifiable for the state to step in on behalf of the child s
wellbeing. These instances, despite being well known, are not as common as one might think. It
is easy to criminalize minorities for specific and rare instances of abuse, but overall it is
empirically provable that most minority groups only want special privileges in order to raise their
position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to be handled without precedents or
established systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that case to case examinations
would be the most effective way to police such crimes in minority groups. The fear that minorities
may abuse any special privileges they may be awarded does not justify the preemptive denial of

Psychoanalysis In Catcher In The Rye
J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye is regarded as a seminal work of fiction with many
psychological and social themes, particularly those related to personal development and the
transition out of childhood. In this paper, The Catcher in the Rye will be analyzed from the basis
of an Adlerian psychoanalytic perspective with a particular emphasis on personality development
and the influence of siblings and birth order. This analysis will center around the main character of
Salinger s story, Holden , who appears to have developed an inferiority complex in his early life
which he attempts to make up for with antisocial and dishonest de identification behaviour. The
Adlerian model of psychoanalysisis ideally suited for the character of Holden and provides a
number of insights into the influences upon Holden, the state of his mind and the motivations that
make up his unique character. Alfred Adler, a renowned and highly influential psychologist who
came to prominence in the early part of the 20th century coined the term family constellation ,
which served as a metaphor to describe the influence of familial bonds and dynamics upon the
personality development of individuals, particularly children. Adler s conception of the family
constellation has been adopted and studied extensively since his time. Rudolf Dreikurs built upon
Adler s work some years later, and vouched for the usefulness of the family constellation
perspective in psychoanalytic work: A clear formulation

What s meant to be will always find a way by Trisha Yearwood, it is an inspirational quote that

I ve sent Kreon, my wife brother, to phoibos at Delphi, to hear what action or what word of mine

family unit culture consists of material and nonmaterial aspects. The culture of a social unit can
be impacted by many different variables. Some of these variables include beliefs, values, and
religion. My family s culture can be expressed through symbols. A bouquet of flowers represents
my family. The bouquet is full of flowers with different characteristics, but they all come together
to make one unit. The values of my family also play a big part in the family social unit. The most
important value is responsibility. My family and everyone in it depend on the fact that everyone
has their own responsibilities they need to take care of to continue to make the unit function.
Another contributor to my families culture are beliefs. My family unit believes in Jesus Christ
and the Holy Spirit. This belief brings my family together. Special practices also play a part in
the culture of any social unit. As far as I know, my family does not partake in that many special
practices. One that I ve observed though, is how my family says a prayer to bless our meals before
we eat them. When observing the traditional

Essay about The Insanity Defense
Each state, and the District of Columbia, has its own statute outlining the standard for determining
whether a defendant is legally insane, therefore not responsible, at the time the crime is committed.
An insanity defense is based on the theory that most people can choose to follow the law; but a few
select persons cannot be held accountable because mental disease or disability deprives them of the
ability to make a rational / voluntary choice. Such individuals need special treatment as opposed to
prison; punishment is not likely to deter future antisocial conduct of these mentally diseased
individuals. Retrieved on 5/25/2010 from http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/hinckley

After advances in the world of psychiatry, new interests in the field of psychology, new medications
thought to cure mental disease, and much frustration with the M Naghten Rule, the courts adopted
a new standard The Durham Test. The test provided that:
A person was not criminally responsible if the unlawful act was a product of mental disease or
defect. A jury was required to answer two questions: (1) did the defendant have a mental disease
or defect? and (2) if so, was the disease or defect the reason for the unlawful act? Both of the
answers had to be yes to return a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. The test was a
recognition of that mental illness was a disease that could be treated and possibly cured. Retrieved

In 1962, due to much criticism of the various tests for the insanity defense, the American Law
Institute (ALI) designed a new test that requires that the mental disease or defect be a mental
diagnosis. The penal code test is much broader than the M Naghten Rule and the Irresistible
Impulse test. The American Law Institute s Model Penal Code Test states:
A person is not responsible for criminal conduct if at the time of such conduct as a result of mental

Reproductive System Research Essay
Reproductive System Research Essay Between the two reproductive systems, each contain their
own function to provide for the human body. In the female reproductive system, the different
parts include: the ovary, ovum, fallopian tube, uterus, cervix, vulva, and the vagina. These
different parts contribute to the female reproductive cycle. The ovaries are two oval shaped
organs that contain the ovas. The ovum are female sex cells that unite with male for
fertilization. The fallopian tube releases the eggs. The uterus allows the baby to grow within it.
The cervix forms a barrier between the uterus and the vagina. It expands allows a baby to pass
through it. The vagina is a muscular canal that enables copulation. The structure of the female
ovary is an oval shaped organ that sits above the fallopian tube and the ovum is covered by a thin
membrane. The fallopian tube is a tube extended from the uterus. The uterus is basically the
womb that is hollow in the female reproductive system. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus.
The vulva is the external parts of the female organs that is the opening for the vagina. The vagina
is the elastic tube connecting the cervix of the uterus. To go in more detail, other parts of the
female organs include the labia, hymen, urethra, clitoris, estrogen, and progesterone. The labia is
the inner and outer folds of the vulva. The hymen is a membrane the closes the opening of the
vagina. The urethra is where urine comes out of the body from the

Animal rescue organizations can be the perfect place to find your next furry friend. These
organizations are all operate differently, but generally work hard to provide loving, caring homes
for animals until a permanent home can be found. Most of these organizations are volunteer based
and strive to keep the welfare of the animals in mind. There are probably several different kinds of
animal rescue organizations in your area. The next time you are ready to get a new cator dog,

People don t like to bring family or friends over while they are on vacation just to feed their fish.
I would suggest going to a fish store and picking up items you need a few days before you go on
vacation. You will either need to buy fish feeders or you will need to buy automatic fish feeders
and put fish flakes inside of them. They will turn every day and feed the fish flakes while you
are gone. You need to remember to keep the feeders on the opposite sides of the bubbler or they
will clog with water and the fish feeder will stop working. You will need to take a look at your
fish before you leave for vacation. If you notice that their fins are torn or they have white
speckles on their gills or fins you will need to give them medication for fin rot and ich. Make
sure that your bubbler, filter and heaters are working properly before you leave for vacation. If
your power goes out the filter may kick back on along with everything else. I wouldn t suggest
putting everything on a plug in that can be shut off with a button because your other animals,
dogs and cats, can shut off the power strips and cut off bubblers and filters. You will want to
change the water at least 20 percent before you leave for vacation. You can purchase feeders
which you put in your tank which last up to 2 weeks but I would grab several of them. Put them
in areas away from bubblers so that they don t disperse as fast. The 3 days feeders are usually
gone in one day. Fish can go a few days without eating but you can t leave them alone for weeks
without feeding your fish. You will need to give them quite a bit of food before you leave but
don t give them a lot of excess food because it will make the water cloudy and all the levels in the
fish tank will go up while you are gone. You will need to purchase either fish feeders you place in
the bottom of the tank or automatic fish feeders which spin on the top of the tank. If you buy

Essay about Illegal Aliens and American Medicine
Illegal Aliens and American Medicine
About half of immigration into the United States is illegal, thus approximately half of the impact
of immigration on our health care system is due to illegal immigration. The influx of illegal aliens
has serious hidden medical consequences. We judge reality primarily by what we have seen. But
what we do not see can be more dangerous, more expensive, and more deadly than what is seen.
What is unseen is their free medical care that has degraded and closed some of America s finest
emergency medical facilities, and caused hospital bankruptcies.

constitution, which states, All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the

These articles support a theory that explains the illegal alien problem as part of the general
environment in which it is found. They argue that the illegal alien problem is a diverse one and not
simply a Mexico US problem and suggests that traditional immigration law enforcement strategies
encourage an ever increasing illegal alien population in the United States (Weissinger 2003).
When the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified, its purpose was to assure rights of freedom and
citizenship to newly emancipated Negro citizens. For citizenship, the person was required to submit
to complete, exclusive American jurisdiction, owing allegiance to no other nation.
How do we reclaim America s emergency departments; restore medicine s proud scientific
excellence and profitability and protect Americans against bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal
infectious diseases that illegal aliens carry across the borders? It has been suggested that we close
America s borders to prevent illegal entry. Deport illegal aliens. Rescind the citizenship of anchor

Escape From Alcatraz ( 1979 ) Directed By Don Siegel
The legendary film, Escape from Alcatraz (1979) directed by the famous iconic movie maker, Don
Siegel, tells a riveting story about three close inmates and their highly thought out escape plan.
Frank Morris, played by the famous Clint Eastwood, is transported to the most solid and uptight
prison, Alcatraz, in San Francisco, California. He is transferred from a prisonin Atlanta, Georgia
and booked into Alcatraz on January 18, 1960. Upon his arrival, the prison warden informs
Morris that no one has ever escaped Alcatraz. He lets Morris know that many have tried to
escape, but they were never successful. As a warning to Morris, the warden states that no one will
ever escape under his supervision. Morris in turn uses this statement from the warden as his
motivation to once again escape from prison. Morris has previously escaped every prison he has
been placed in, and this happens to be the reason for his transfer to Alcatraz. Two other inmates,
Clarence and John Anglinwho are biological brothers, assist in the notorious escape and manage to
flee alongside Morris. Clarence and John Anglin are played by the actors Frank Ward and Jack
Thibeau. The brothers were not transported to Alcatraz Island until months after Frank Morris had
been transferred and booked. However, the three friendmates were tight acquaintances in the
Atlanta, Georgia prison. The movie and the characters tell the true and unruly story of the escape

Comparing Triumph Of The Will And Lorentz s The River
Since the advent of documentary film with Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North (1922), those
with power have sought to use it as a tool in their arsenal to reach people. Advances in
communications technology in the early twentieth century allowed it to be used as a one way
message delivery system to the masses, however the ways in which this has been implemented
have varied hugely based on context and political viewpoint. Through consideration of Leni
Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will (1935), and Lorentz s The River (1938) this essay will analyse
the concepts of persuasion, education and propaganda in documentary film, discussing the
similarities and differences between these areas by.
It is worth first briefly defining the ideas that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Repetitive cross cutting of shots is used heavily in both films this essay studies. The difference
lies in the narrative. Lorentz uses this method to juxtapose the good and the bad of the situation,
however as it is propaganda Triumph does not deal with negatives. Instead it repurposes this
technique into a concept of spectacle and looking, which is explored in Neale s (1979) work,
whereby we see crowds gathered looking, with cross cuts to Hitler from low angles as the spectacle
or object of the gaze. Through this Hitler was presented as a godly figure
The lack of narration in Triumph of the Will, Riefenstahl has used to argue in interviews meant that
the film could not be propaganda;
It could only be propaganda if I commented on what it showed, if I had expressed an opinion, but I
didn t express an opinion, I just showed what happened. (Riefenstahl, 2004).
However, as has been discussed previously the film does not show what happened but a
recreation directed by Riefenstahl, and it is here that the narrative was formed through camera
work and pacing. In reality the lack of a clear spoken narrative is part of what made Triumph such
effective propaganda, the agenda is unspoken and so cannot be disputed, yet cannot be ignored.
The River makes no secret of its intention, yet also makes no demands. It presents facts and uses
techniques to inspire people to

Gypsies Vs. Traditional Romani Women
Some individuals see the word gypsy as a part of joke, about stealing away children in the night,
or being ripped off by them. Most people do not realize that gypsies do exist an ethnic group
(Romani people). Unfortunately, gypsies do not have their own country, they move from country to
country in order, to find a better life or weak rich people. There are many facts about, that they
practice dark magic, drugs, human trafficking and to name a few. Also, traditional gypsyhas strict
guidelines for the way women dress, and how they act around the men. The Gypsy Romani law is
a strict series of laws that govern all aspects of Gypsy life. Traditional Romani women wouldn t be

nations, because love must be build out of taboo our hearts make decisions for us and sometimes
we should let our feelings to spread out of restrictions. Additionally, these traditions are made not
because gypsies are unwelcomed people or discriminate other nations but because they want to

Romeo And Juliet Last Letter Essay
Dear Capulet, my deepest condolences. I would like to take full responsibility for the death of
sweet Juliet. I regret agreeing to marry her and Romeo but when she came to me she was
desperate. After Romeo was banished and Juliet had her marriage to Paris approaching, Juliet
wanted nothing to do with Paris and she and Romeo had asked me to find a way to make it
possible for them to spend their lives together. The plan I had made to fake her death and have
Romeo find her when she woke up, seemed like a good plan at the time. If I could do it over I
would. I would have never agreed to marry them because it was not smart and I regret it deeply.

A Presentation Of Waffle Frolic
On Friday, April 15, our group made a presentation about Waffle Frolic, a local restaurant that
specializes in breakfast and brunch. In the presentation, we used direct method 2 to recognize the
problem, identify the cause, find the solution, and analyzed cost and benefit.
Overall, we will give our self a score of 9 because all members of our team had a strong and
professional tone throughout our presentation without the use of fillers and incorporating subtle
transition points. Furthermore, we had a credible, clear, and varied content base backed up by
evidence and visual support. However, there are many areas that we all need to work on including
finishing the respective phrase before answering a question and coordinating our stance and posture.
We believe that our overall presentation style and tone were appropriate given our content and
context. First, the attire of our team members was consistent, professional, and matches the color
theme of our PowerPoint slides. This created a positive and credible first impression for the
audience. Second, throughout the whole presentation, we maintained a professional and transparent
presentation style. Even when being interrupted and answering questions, we didn t slack off and
still managed to remain professional. We were open and receptive to the audience at all times.
Third, we incorporated what we learned from the Management Communication textbook into our

Weaknesses And Areas Of The City Of Fife

pertaining to the City of Fife. In this paper, I will give the relevant background information that is

the developmental stage of the City, as well as, highlight some of their strengths. Moreover, I will
address what I think the City is limited to and how these limitations lead to their most pressing
issues. I will end this paper with my recommendations on if changes were to happen in the City of
Fife what they should be.

However, as time went on Fife had to adapt to the ever changing world of supply and demand.
Today, Fife is no longer known for their agriculture. All the lush farmland is mostly gone and
replaced with industrial facilities, warehouses, care dealerships, motels and the Indian Casino.
These changes have brought tremendous economic growth to the city, however, these changes
have negatively impacted social climate and the employability of their senior and migrant
residents. Despite these criticisms, while I walked through the City of Fife I conversed with
several residents and asked each person I talked to about their general feelings about Fife. From
these conversations, the impression these residents have of Fife s overall social climate (i.e.
general feelings, attitudes, and beliefs) was optimistic and pride. They are proud of how far their
tiny city has come and are hopeful for continued economic growth.
Given the current issues facing Fife, it is easy to see who has the power the City Council, the Port
of Tacoma, and the Puyallup Tribe, all have the power to shape the City of Fife. The City Council
has seven seats; Mayor, Deputy Mayor and five Council Members. Currently, there is an open seat.
The Council serves as the legislative branch of Fife s government, and is responsible for
establishing policy, voting appropriations, and developing the City s vision and mission. The city
council members are nonpartisan and are selected through an

Ambrose Bierce s Influence On War
Most authors write mysteries not live in them, most authors write about war not fight in it, most
authors do not leave theories in their (supposed) death, most authors are not Ambrose Bierce.
Ambrose Bierce was a unique author/veteran (whichever you prefer). Even now people still are
trying to figure out what happened to him.
Bierce was an author who disappeared with little trace leaving behind many theories.
During the Civil War, Ambrose Bierce joined the military, fought in many battles, and wrote fiction
inspired by his time serving. Ambrose Bierce was part of the Ninth Regiment in Indiana. He
won the rank of major before the end of the war. He also fought in multiple battles. He wrote books
about the civil war like Civil War Stories and Tales of Soldiers and Civilians . He wrote a few more
but not many.
War adventures resulted in the finest, some say the only, fiction to emerge from the Civil War and
all of it remains in print. Swaim 1. Bierce Fought at Chickamauga during the civil war and wrote a
short story called Chickamauga in 1889. This book was written more than 20 years after the actual
battle of Chickamauga which occurred in 1863.

  • 2. Designing Customizable And Programmable Robots Essay I still freshly remember that, as a six years old little boy, I dreamed to be a wizard because nothing is more fantastic than creating objects with your own abilities. At the age of eight, I had a taste of dream coming true: my parents bought me a Lego Robotic Command eXplorers (a robot kit that contains software and hardware to create customizable and programmable robots). I built the robots body structure using limited Legoblocks and gave it life by programming. In the next 9 years, Lego robot kits have been an essential component of my childhood. I learned basic robotic rules and skills in primary school, practiced robotic assembling and manipulation in middle school, and started to show my talent in high school. I lead my team and won the first place in the First Lego League(FLL) three times in China and Best Programming Prize worldwide (FLL is a global robotic competition hold by First and Lego). Finally, I found Beijing No.4 High School Robotic Club in my sophomore year and the club remains to be one of the most popular clubs after four years. Lego robots were the most important part of my adolescence life. However, when I stood on the podium to accept the grand prize, I felt confused and lost. In the FLL competition field, we used robots to help refugees, solve neurons puzzles, and even explore Mars. But we did not actually help or change anyone s life: every exciting mission was done within the competition field. Those refugees were still suffering; those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Performance-Based Budgeting Budgeting is a process to plan budget which is used to describe fiscal expectation, expenditure and future planning of an individual, organization or government within a given period of time (Olawale, et al. 2012). Up until now, there are many methods of budgeting for governments such as traditional (line item) budgeting, zero based budgeting, and performance based budgeting. Due to its simplicity, the traditional budgeting which listed groups of expenditure using last year s data such as office supplies, salary, electricity bill and used incremental approach on them (Navin, 2003) has become the most popular one in many countries. However, many people criticize this budgeting method because many believe that this budgeting method is ineffective and inefficient . As a result, since 1990s, many countries have reformed their budgeting method to performance based budgeting which use performance information in budgetprocesses (Lee and Wang, 2009). Despite the trend of budgeting reform in the world, some developed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some countries performance based budgeting is known as budgeting results and performance funding (OECD, 2007). Young (2003) stated that most experts agree that, Performance based budgeting (PBB) is the allocation of funds to achieve programmatic goals and objectives as well as some indication or measurement of work, efficiency, and/or effectiveness . PBB links directly the expected results and resource requirements (Navin, 2003). It is clearly shown that result is the focus of this budgeting method. Navin (2003) also said that performance measure is important in PBB because it shows whether the activities of the government departments actually make a difference in people s life. Although performance would not be the only factor in a budget allocation decision, it has a significant contribution in the decision making process because it could give better informed ... Szymborska continues to elaborate on this concept by stating it s just not easy to explain to someone else what you don t understand yourself. Using this notion to pinpoint the themes she develops throughout the context of her poems, she portrays The End and the Beginning through two contradicting ideas that refer back to the concept of I don t know. The title itself interprets a contrastof two opposite ideas, the end and the beginning. But what do these themes represent? These two different perspectives are elaborated within each translation. Referring to the concept of the two perspectives, Szymborska s diction, tone, and imagery introduces a theme of war. She titles the poem this way to express one perspective of war, which is defined through the context of the poem, the end. This aspect is thoroughly emphasized through Baranczak and Cavanaugh s translation. The diction provided by Baranczak and Cavanaugh s translation provides the tone and imagery that form this poem. The descriptive element in this literary work creates an effect of imagery. The audience can vividly comprehend the idea that Szymborska introduces unlike Trzeciak s translation, which expresses a more concise tone. The brevity of her translation makes the piece less descriptive and introduces little imagery. Baranczak and Cavanaugh s translation acknowledges the tone of the poem, which is the acknowledgment of the end of the war instead of the beginning. With the economic recession looming at large, they prefer to have some income rather than go home with empty hands and starved stomachs. And for illegal immigrants, the situation is even worse. They cannot legally sign a lease or rent an apartment, cannot have an access to bank accounts and are not eligible to get any kind of insurance. In the Vonnegut s story the year is 2081 and the world is finally equal or at least considered to be that way. The short story looks at the lives of Hazel and George Bergeron living during this new era. They have a son named Harrison, but he was taken away before the events of the story. Although we often remember this time for the discrimination the Jews faced from Nazi Germany, we must also remember the unsubstantiated targeting and imprisonment of Japanese as well as other ethnicities in America. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Japanese Americans faced persecution at the hands of the U.S. military, mostly on the West Coast of the United States. Executive Order 9906, issued and signed by Franklin D. Buyers paid US$0.33 per kilogram, a price that kept the farmers poor.[3] In 1999, 220 coffee growers formed an association in the Maraba district (part of the former Butare Province) to tackle this problem. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... PEARL started working with Abahuzamugambi in February 2001 to improve the coffee quality to standards required by the specialty coffee market in the United States.[5] The coffee farmers of Maraba first needed a washing station to remove sugar from the coating of the coffee bean, under the skin. If this sugar is not removed within 12 hours of picking, the flavour of the coffee is impaired.[6] They built the first station in July 2001 in the Cyarumbo sector, close to the main road, with funding from UNR, the Office des Cultures Industrielles du Rwanda (OCIR CafГ©), ACDI/VOCA, and the Institut des Sciences Agronomiques du Rwanda (ISAR). The opening was late in the harvest season, so only 200 kilograms (441 lb) of that year s harvest were suitable for washing. However, the results were reasonably good, and the station was upgraded to allow more coffee to be processed in 2002. To bring mineral water from Mount Huye to the upgraded station, ACDI/VOCA helped fund a pipeline, which opened in March 2002.[5] A new certification system was introduced for the 2002 harvest to ensure that beans brought to the station were of suitable quality. Around half of the Abahuzamugambi membership attained the certification, which allowed the cooperative to look for serious buyers in the specialty markets of Europe and North America.[5] International acceptance[edit] The Cyarumba washing station PEARL brought a ... Imagery, Diction, And Tone Of Roethke s Root Cellar A Plant s Bacchanalia: Imagery, Diction, and Tone in Roethke s Root Cellar How can an atmosphere be so unbearable and cold, but evidently full of life and constant growth? Set in an old, decaying basement, Theodore Roethke addresses this in the poem Root Cellar. Life is clinging to and climbing over the dirty, damp, and dark possessions of the cellar. Why is it possible that so much life is present in such a place of shadows? In Root Cellar , Roethke uses imagery, diction, and tone to display that is possible for life to overcome unbearable circumstances suggesting that nature is a truly dominant and powerful force. First, Roethke uses a variety of natural imagery to illustrate the poor conditions of the root cellar. The imagery is extremely concrete, which is illustrated through the use of sensory language. By being inside the cellar, multiple senses are engaged, which ranges from smells, sights, and surfaces to touch. Roethke writes that there were a congress of stinks (6) and then proceeds to explain them as roots ripe as old bait (7) and leaf mold, manure, lime (9); the sensory imagery here reveals that the root cellar is not only unpleasant to the eye, but the nose as well. Additionally, sensory imagery, such as the phrase slippery planks (9) reveals that one might not want to get too close to the scene. However poor the sensory experience may be for a human, life is persisting for the plants regardless. The plants are able to strive and continue to grow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Discuss The Arguments For The Rights And Privileges Of... In this essay, I will be arguing for the rights and privileges of minority groups. I believe that special privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe upon the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several aspects of society and nation, including equality, nation building, and identity. These three characteristics of multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority rights in the face of opposing liberal majority interests. To establish the need for minority rights, the concept of multiculturalism must first be understood. Kymlicka describes multiculturalism as an umbrella term for the claims of these ethnocultural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When minorities are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it denies minorities their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a mainstream culture contrary to one s own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own identity with pride, especially if that society s government does not support your need for rights. As identity is so crucial in a person s good life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their right to celebrate the practices of their culture or religion. Despite identity being considered a fairly basic right in modern society, it is also where most of the issues surrounding minority rights occur. Giving a group of people the right to practice a religion seems inherently just at first glance, however what happens if the groups beliefs conflict with the liberal majority s concept of human rights? In instances where the beliefs of the minority directly conflict with the goals of the state (to protect its citizens), I believe it is justifiable for the state to step in on behalf of the child s wellbeing. These instances, despite being well known, are not as common as one might think. It is easy to criminalize minorities for specific and rare instances of abuse, but overall it is empirically provable that most minority groups only want special privileges in order to raise their position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to be handled without precedents or established systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that case to case examinations would be the most effective way to police such crimes in minority groups. Thus, he sailed in his new boat Victoire onto the shore of South Carolina, along with fourteen other French army members, with plans in becoming a volunteer officer for the American revolutionary army. The marquis pursued his ambitions and left his home in secrecy even after his father in law, the Duc de Noailles, forbid him to leave France. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye is regarded as a seminal work of fiction with many psychological and social themes, particularly those related to personal development and the transition out of childhood. In this paper, The Catcher in the Rye will be analyzed from the basis of an Adlerian psychoanalytic perspective with a particular emphasis on personality development and the influence of siblings and birth order. This analysis will center around the main character of Salinger s story, Holden , who appears to have developed an inferiority complex in his early life which he attempts to make up for with antisocial and dishonest de identification behaviour. The Adlerian model of psychoanalysisis ideally suited for the character of Holden and provides a number of insights into the influences upon Holden, the state of his mind and the motivations that make up his unique character. Alfred Adler, a renowned and highly influential psychologist who came to prominence in the early part of the 20th century coined the term family constellation , which served as a metaphor to describe the influence of familial bonds and dynamics upon the personality development of individuals, particularly children. Adler s conception of the family constellation has been adopted and studied extensively since his time. Additionally, these traditions are made not because gypsies are unwelcomed people or discriminate other nations but because they want to keep their ethnic group together and not to disappear. While there are still traveling bands of Gypsies, most use cars and RVs to move from place to place rather than the horses and wagons of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Romeo And Juliet Last Letter Essay Dear Capulet, my deepest condolences. I would like to take full responsibility for the death of sweet Juliet. I regret agreeing to marry her and Romeo but when she came to me she was desperate. After Romeo was banished and Juliet had her marriage to Paris approaching, Juliet wanted nothing to do with Paris and she and Romeo had asked me to find a way to make it possible for them to spend their lives together. The plan I had made to fake her death and have Romeo find her when she woke up, seemed like a good plan at the time. If I could do it over I would. I would have never agreed to marry them because it was not smart and I regret it deeply. Romeo was like a son to me and I felt obligated to help him be with his love even though they are rivalries and he had been banished. Had I never come up with this... I wanted to send this letter not to explain what happened because I did on the day we found Romeo and Juliet in the tomb but I sent this letter to express my sadness and to take responsibility. I also regret not getting to the tomb in time after realizing that Friar John never delivered the letter to Romeo. Another thing I regret is leaving the tomb when I heard a noise because had I not left Juliet may not have stabbed herself with Romeo s dagger. There are so many things I wish I could of done differently in order to have a different outcome but unfortunately I cannot change what has happened and for that I am sorry. I will not ask for your forgiveness because it is my fault sweet Juliet is dead and I could never expect you to forgive me for that but I wanted to let you know how sorry I am and how I will forever live with the guilt. I am a holy man and this was something I did for love but now I know how bad of an idea it was and I will never stop regretting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. A Presentation Of Waffle Frolic On Friday, April 15, our group made a presentation about Waffle Frolic, a local restaurant that specializes in breakfast and brunch. In the presentation, we used direct method 2 to recognize the problem, identify the cause, find the solution, and analyzed cost and benefit. Overall, we will give our self a score of 9 because all members of our team had a strong and professional tone throughout our presentation without the use of fillers and incorporating subtle transition points. Furthermore, we had a credible, clear, and varied content base backed up by evidence and visual support. However, there are many areas that we all need to work on including finishing the respective phrase before answering a question and coordinating our stance and posture. We believe that our overall presentation style and tone were appropriate given our content and context. First, the attire of our team members was consistent, professional, and matches the color theme of our PowerPoint slides. This created a positive and credible first impression for the audience. Second, throughout the whole presentation, we maintained a professional and transparent presentation style. Even when being interrupted and answering questions, we didn t slack off and still managed to remain professional. We were open and receptive to the audience at all times. Third, we incorporated what we learned from the Management Communication textbook into our presentation. We included a preview to give the audience a quick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Weaknesses And Areas Of The City Of Fife The purpose of this paper is to address the strengths and areas of concerns and potential conflicts pertaining to the City of Fife. In this paper, I will give the relevant background information that is prudent in understanding why Fife has issues and where they began. Additionally, I will identify the developmental stage of the City, as well as, highlight some of their strengths. Moreover, I will address what I think the City is limited to and how these limitations lead to their most pressing issues. I will end this paper with my recommendations on if changes were to happen in the City of Fife what they should be. Background Information The City of Fife resides on land that was originally owned by the local Puyallup, WashingtonNative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, as time went on Fife had to adapt to the ever changing world of supply and demand. Today, Fife is no longer known for their agriculture. All the lush farmland is mostly gone and replaced with industrial facilities, warehouses, care dealerships, motels and the Indian Casino. These changes have brought tremendous economic growth to the city, however, these changes have negatively impacted social climate and the employability of their senior and migrant residents. Despite these criticisms, while I walked through the City of Fife I conversed with several residents and asked each person I talked to about their general feelings about Fife. From these conversations, the impression these residents have of Fife s overall social climate (i.e. general feelings, attitudes, and beliefs) was optimistic and pride. They are proud of how far their tiny city has come and are hopeful for continued economic growth. Given the current issues facing Fife, it is easy to see who has the power the City Council, the Port of Tacoma, and the Puyallup Tribe, all have the power to shape the City of Fife. The City Council has seven seats; Mayor, Deputy Mayor and five Council Members. Currently, there is an open seat. The Council serves as the legislative branch of Fife s government, and is responsible for establishing policy, voting appropriations, and developing the City s vision and mission. The city council members are nonpartisan and are selected through an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Ambrose Bierce s Influence On War Most authors write mysteries not live in them, most authors write about war not fight in it, most authors do not leave theories in their (supposed) death, most authors are not Ambrose Bierce. Ambrose Bierce was a unique author/veteran (whichever you prefer). Even now people still are trying to figure out what happened to him. Bierce was an author who disappeared with little trace leaving behind many theories. During the Civil War, Ambrose Bierce joined the military, fought in many battles, and wrote fiction inspired by his time serving. Ambrose Bierce was part of the Ninth Regiment in Indiana. He won the rank of major before the end of the war. He also fought in multiple battles. He wrote books about the civil war like Civil War Stories and Tales of Soldiers and Civilians . He wrote a few more but not many. War adventures resulted in the finest, some say the only, fiction to emerge from the Civil War and all of it remains in print. Swaim 1. Bierce Fought at Chickamauga during the civil war and wrote a short story called Chickamauga in 1889. This book was written more than 20 years after the actual battle of Chickamauga which occurred in 1863. He fought in many battles and wrote stories about them after the war had ended. He was a well known author but, in 1913 he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were a lot of other people following, too, and when we got to the cemetery the soldiers made everyone stand back as far as the stone wall. Then they stood the man against the wall and shot him.
