Reproducibility Of Man Essay
Reproducibility of Man
When Walter Benjamin wrote The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction in 1969, I am
sure he didn t expect it to parallel the arguments of today s discussions on the ethics of cloning. In the
short shadow of the replication of Dolly the sheep, and five little piglets from Virginia comes the
discussion on if this practice should really be allowed, and if so, what limits do you set? How can you
look in the eyes of people who have had there family members pass away because the cloning of pigs
for their organs have been outlawed. But what do you say when it comes to the question of just raising
humans, lets say in a human farm , for exact organ and tissue matches. Where do ... Show more

With the right amount of money, this could actually happen. Others worry that interests would be sure
to make clones of great athletes and other idols of pop culture, rock singers, movie stars, and the like,
and, even worse, that temporary, parochial standards of beauty and human excellence might be frozen
into flesh (Ferre 2). Inevitably, racist preferences would surface and those with the power of this
technology would use it to distort human genetic history, reflecting their conscious and unconscious
prejudices. This leads to human population evolving into a society where everything is alike,
somewhat of a cloning holocaust. During long periods of history, the mode of human sense perception
changes with humanity s entire mode of existence (Benjamin 31). If someone decides they no longer
desire that type of person they have selected, how do you go about finding a new candidate to clone if
you have already eliminated every other type of person? Walter Benjamin wrote about original
artwork in this way. His essay, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction spoke of
original artwork in this area. The original was just not as impressive anymore if you could make a
dozen to a thousand copies of it.
Even the most perfect reproduction of a work is
lacking in one element: it s presence in time and

Hurricane Katrina Essay
Hurricane Katrina pounded the Gulf Coast with tremendous force at daybreak, August 29, 2005,
severely punishing regions that included the city of New Orleans and its neighboring state Mississippi.
Resulting in a total of just over 1700 people killed, and hundreds of thousands missing. When we
think of Hurricane Katrina stories, we think of stories that were published by the media such as,
Packing 145 mile an hour winds as it made landfall, the category 3 storm left more than a million
people in three states without power and submerged highways even hundreds of miles from its center.
The hurricane s storm surge a 29 foot wall of water pushed ashore when the hurricane struck the Gulf
Coast was the highest ever measured in the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the crisis of Hurricane Katrina many survivors experience forces far beyond natural causes,
some may call this animosity. In response to the increasingly desperate survivors search for food and
water, the government has issued a defacto martial law, with soldiers and police enforcing a shoot to
kill policy, forcing the entire New Orleans area to descend into chaos. Disturb by this atrocious
outcome, Egger describes these actions as a legacy of the war on terror, has the mentality that an
overwhelming military response was the solution to a humanitarian crisis (Egger 125) as he shines
light on the inhumane behavior of the United States government. Research shows that many
government officials and contractors had been sent into New Orleans to re establish order, and help
evacuate survivors, but for most survivors that was not the case. As stated by Eggers, long time
Muslim New Orleans resident Zeitoun, was forced out his home by government officials with guns
and was threatened to be shot even after he showed his I.D. confirming he is a United States Citizen
and a New Orleans resident. Egger gives us a brief taste of government animosity, as Zeitoun arrived
on dry land, and was immediately handcuffed and thrown in a white van. As seen in the evidence
above, we begin to see the transition Egger is making to expose his point of view that this is no
different from a typical Katrina

Effects of Human Capital on Maize Production in Ghana Essay
Agriculture constitutes about one third of GDP and provides employment for about two thirds of the
labor force in Sub Saharan Africa. Productivity growth in agriculture is therefore an important element
for economic growth and development. Yet, growth in this sector has been slow. According to the
World Bank (1989), agricultural growth for the continent from 1980 to 1989 averaged only 1.8% per
year. Therefore, improving this growth rate is of increasing concern for both governments and
international organizations (Pinckney 1995). Investing in the human capital base is regarded as one of
the most effective ways to improve agricultural productivity (Nelson and Phelps, 1966; Romer, 1990;
Bindlish and Evenson, 1997; Birdsall et al., 1999). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rivera (1998) argues that education, irrespective of the form, improves productivity to a very
significant extent.
1.2 Problem Statement
Agriculture is a very important sector in the Ghanaian economy. Although its contribution to GDP
decreased from 43.5% in 1990 to 21.5% in 2013, it still remains a significant player in the economy of
the country (Ghana Statistical Service 2008; ISSER 2011; CIA 2013). The agricultural sector employs
about 60% of the workforce in Ghana and can therefore be regarded as the backbone of the Ghanaian
economy (ISSER, 2011).
Maize is the most important cereal crop produced in Ghana and it is also the most widely consumed
staple food in Ghana (Morris et al., 1999). Maize accounts for 55% of grain output in the country.
Maize is also an important component of poultry feed and to a lesser extent the livestock feed sector,
as well as a substitute for the brewing industry.
Although maize productivity has been increasing over the years, studies show that Ghanaian farmers
are yet to produce enough to meet the nation s demand. The most recent domestic production data
shows that the shortfall between domestic production and consumption would reach 267,000 Mt by
2015 if there were no productivity improvements (MOFA, 2011), prolonging the continual

The Space Of Space Exploration Essay
Introduction
One of the greatest unknowns within our human existence is life outside of our known universe;
decades of research, teamwork and funding have manifested phenomenal scientific triumphs in the
fields of space exploration and aeronautics. The forefront of this Space Race arguably began with the
Sputnik, a Russian artificial satellite launched in the late 1950 s. Following the launch of Sputnik 1,
the genesis of American competitive space exploration built roots in the formation of NASA under the
Presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration was
founded in 1958 under a premise of competitive space exploration and continued discovery of truths
residing outside of our existence on planet Earth. NASA externally competes with other teams of
space explorers, which primarily includes Russia s Federal Space Agency, commonly called
Roscosmos. However, moving away from Cold War competitiveness and the race to build the biggest
and best rockets, NASA has fostered over fifty years worth of the most fortified and cohesive
teamwork in the fields of science and aerospace engineering.
The unwavering cohesion of NASA engineers, scientists and explorers has exclusively demanded the
best and brightest to work on their teams. External pressures both on and off of the deployed NASA
spacecraft render their employees to work with the strongest teamwork achievable between their
highly diverse team members. NASA continues to recruit

Summary Of Killings By Andre Dubus
In the short story Killings the author, Andre Dubus writes about two different killings allowing the
reader to determine the justification of each killing. Focusing on the main character Matt Fowler, the
reader learns that Matt has good morals, which are overtaken by the death of his son. As the story
progresses, Dubus shows the motivation behind Matt s anger and revenge. Which leads Matt to a
controversy over following his head or his heart. All of these aspects give the reader obvious
conclusions that Matt will not follow through with his plan, making it even more surprising when he
does. At the beginning of the story Matt reveals his anger to his friend and the reader can see him
struggle to cope with the death of his son. The manner in which he killed Richard Strout showed the
anger and hatred he had against him. He was desperate to find justice for the crime committed against
his family. He wanted to make Strout feel all of the pain, the sorrow, and the hurt that he had put them
through. The night of Strout s murder, Matt does not look him in the eyes and makes Strout distance
himself from Matt. He wanted to kill a faceless person and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Matt has always been the protector of the family and he feels that this is a way to protect Ruth from

Enrique s Journey Summary
Enrique s story begins when his mother, who he loved and idolized, left his sister and him for the
United States. While living in Honduras, his mother, Lourdes, struggled to supply Enrique and his
sister, Belky, with food, clothing, and schooling. Lourdes believed leaving her children and finding
work in the United States would give her children their best future. Lourdes left Belky in the care of
her sister and left Enrique in the care of his father. Lourdes made it to the United States by paying a
smuggler to take her to Miami, but she was abandoned in Los Angeles and forced to find work there.
At first Lourdes worked at a factory until a friend got her a fake social security card and she was able
to work as a nanny in Beverly Hills. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tells Lourdes that his grandmother is his true mother. She reminds Enrique of all the money and
things she sent him over the years. Enrique starts drinking a lot and going out, not sending his
daughter as much money. He also smokes marijuana again. Back in Honduras, Enrique s family all
criticizes how Maria Isabel spends Enrique s money and raises her baby. Enrique decides he wants to
change his ways for his daughter. He stops drinking and works seven days a week. Enrique and
Lourdes move to Florida for work but Enrique went back to North Carolina. He then returns to Florida
because he missed his mother. After four years in the Unites States, Enrique calls home to Maria
Isabel to tell her he has the money to get her across the border with a smuggler. She agrees to come
and makes arrangements for their daughter. She doesn t say goodbye. In our sociology class, Social
Problems, we learned about poverty. Poverty is described as lacking the economic resources to live at
an adequate standard of living. Lourdes grew up in an impoverished family. They struggled to find
food and clothing. She didn t want her children to grow up the same way so she left them to earn
money for them. Unfortunately, her children still struggled with poverty, especially her son Enrique.

provide opportunities for hands on activities, which is a great way for children of all ages to get in
touch with the world around them. For example, in the one year old s wing the teachers use the boards
for music and sometime the Oklahoma City Zoo s animal cameras where the teachers teach about the
different types of zoo animals. But some parents have regards with SMART boards being used in their
child s room. For example, in the one year old rooms parents sometimes do not want their children
being introduced to technology at that early of an age. Which is not a good idea at this time,
technology is used everywhere and it is better to learn early on in life.
Next, the facility has immense safety precautions including locked doors, security cameras, good

be locked at all times. This prevents strangers from walking into the building and taking a child, as
well as allowing the teachers inside to see the person before they come into the room. Another safety
precaution is providing a security camera in every room that includes a built in microphone.Between
this and the student to teacher ratio the children are watched continually. The teacher to student ratio is

Why The Foster System Is Ineffective
Why the Foster System is Ineffective Is the foster system really a good place for any person? Most
adolescents would have to deal with other adolescents always starting fights, degrading you, and
stealing your belongings. Adolescents in the foster care system turn to crime, have to deal with
depression, and deal with having no one to really trust. When I was in the system, I was stabbed, I was
shot, and constantly bullied; I hated each day of being in the foster system. I saw everyday as a
struggle with no one to turn to. The only peace I had was to read a book and immerse myself into a
make believe world. I believe the foster system is ineffective because children in the foster system
struggle through their experiences of group homes and foster homes. First of all, children in the foster
system have no one to turn to that they can truly trust. Most children in the foster system do not trust
many people because of the fact that many see that their own parents ended leaving them. Some
adolescents in the foster system saw therapists and social workers as just being paid to listen to them
and not actually help them with their problems. When I was eight, I moved into a foster home and the
foster parents had their own biological son that was treated like a little angel, yet I got treated as
someone that was unwanted in their home. The foster parent s son would end up breaking something
and blame it on me and when I would tell the foster parents that it was their son

Example Of Attachment
There were many classic studies that were taught through out the video.
When it comes to attachment, it is said that it is the basis for human relationships in all societies.
Attachment is the emotional touch between two people. In the video, to study the experiment of
attachment, they used the example of an infant and its mother. The infant and mother were taken into a
room, the mother sat down and let the child explore and check out the room. A stranger then comes in
the room, starts interacting with the child and the mom leaves the room. During that first separation
between the mother and child, the child stopped playing, realized her mother was no longer in the
room and then felt the need of attachment. The child ran to the door, crying. ... Show more content on

The next round of separation happens and the mother just walks out of the room this time, leaving the
child alone for a short time. The child starts crying and runs to the door. The stranger returns and tries
to calm the child. The mother returns again for the second reunion, picks up the child and the child is
calmed down again, due to attachment. During this study, the way the child reacted, is a way that any
child would typically act if this were to happen because attachment is physical and emotional. When
the mother leaves, the child has emotional attachment to her and wants her back, the child has no
attachment to the stranger so she isn t calmed down by the stranger. John Bowlby, the founder of
attachment, says that secure attachment is vital for good psychological development. The experiment
that is used for this study is unnecessary emotional stress the study would be putting on the child,
which could also lead to lack of trust between the mother and child. Having the mother and child
participate in this research is right as long as they have full disclosure on what the study is that they
are going to be participating in. They should be able to quit at any time if they wanted to. They

Importance Of Pep Rallies
I am going to tell you about the seating during pep rallies. I think that all of the grades in the school sit

that the seating should be all grades together.
All of the students should be fired up. I mean that s what pep rallies are for. You have to be as cheerful
as you can for your school. You should be proud and support your team or school. It is very important
to be fired up of course not all the time but every now and then is fine. It gets your blood pumping and
your being energetic so it is healthy for kids to cheer.

Gossip Girl And Jane Austen s Pride And Prejudice
Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice tells the story of the agonizing romance between Elizabeth Bennet
and Fitzwilliam Darcy. In eighteenth century class conscious England, wealthy families married for
money and a stable reputation. Many critics argue that people no longer marry for money but instead
for love. However, sugar mommies, daddies, and babies are more prevalent in the twenty first century
than is publicly shown. Cecily von Ziegesar s Gossip Girl, originally chick literature turned major
drama television series, portrays the romantic struggles of Manhattan s East Side upper class. Despite
being set in the twenty first century, Gossip Girl is arguably a more dramatic, high quality adaptation
of Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice. Gossip Girl, an American television drama, had six seasons, all
told by the narrator Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl runs a highly popular blog that gives the Upper East Side
adolescents little to no privacy. Serena van der Woodsen, one of the main characters, had just returned
to Manhattan for high school classes at the Constance Billard School for Girls and St. Jude s School
for Boys. Serena s best friend Blair Waldorf is queen bee of the Constance Billard School for Girls,
and throughout the seasons, Blair, Serena, and younger classmates fight for the queen bee status.

changed and the spending increased which gave boost to the economy for the coming decades.
TECHNOLOGY IN THE FIFTIES (1950 1959) The 1950s or The Fifties was a decade that was full
of events that gave new ideas and inventions. The decade was prosperous for the American people and
entrepreneurs because the economy was booming. However, as the economy was booming still they
were major conflicts associated with United States internally in the country and externally. For
example, some of the biggest conflicts were the Cold War between the Soviet Union, clashes between
communism and capitalism, Korean War, Red Scare (fear of communism) in United States. Still with
all those conflicts, in United States the progress in science and technology was on peak.
Arguably, the first greatest and most influential invention of the 20th century the Television publicly
placed for sale in markets in 1940s had originally made real maturity in the 1950s. People started to
buy large screen television sets because in the 40s there were only small television screens. In 1952,
RCA introduced the CTC 1, the first color television to utilize the NTSC (National Television System
Committee) video standard. The introductions were still too expensive for most people in that decade;

Tying Homer s Iliad to Virgil s Aeneid Through the Theme...
Warfare is a common thread that ties Homer s Iliad to Virgil s Aeneid. However, the way warfare is
treated in the two epics is different. This can be attributed to many factors including the time between
the composition of the pieces, the fact that pieces were written by different authors, and the fact that
the pieces were written in different places. We can use these pieces to get a view of what the society
that produced them thought about war and how the view of war changed as time went on in the
ancient world. The Iliad is a poem of war. The entire narrative takes place at or near a battlefield with
men who had been fighting a seemingly never ending war for over nine years, and portrays many
many battles great and small. At the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is in Book IV when Ajax kills Simoisius. Homer says Telamonian Ajax struck
Anthemion s son, the hardy stripling Simoisius, still unwed... His mother had borne him along the
Simois banks when she trailed her parents down the slopes of Ida to tend their flocks, and so they
called him Simoisius. (4.547 51) In a war that has lasted nine years where untold numbers of men
have died, why would Homer take such care to tell his audience about someone like Simoisius?
Perhaps because if the listener knows something about the vanquished opponent, that gives more glory
to the conquering hero. Another reason could be that for the vanquished in death they receive some
measure of glory for fighting bravely against a famous hero like Ajax. Another place we see this
emphasis on glory when Hector returns to Troy in Book VI. Hector s wife Andromache begs him to
take his armies and make his stand near a fig tree close to the walls of Troy.(6.511 20) While
Andromache s advice may be tactically sound, Hector refuses her by saying I ve learned it all too well.
To stand up bravely, always to fight in the front ranks of Trojan soldiers, winning my father great
glory, glory for myself. (6.527 29) The overwhelming desire for glory takes precedence over proper
military tactics in this situation. While Homer gives great weight to the

Analysis Of Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Born on this day in 1832, Louisa May Alcott led a fascinating life. Besides enchanting millions of
readers with her novel Little Women, she worked as a Civil War nurse, fought against slavery, and
registered women to vote. For Louisa, writing was an early passion. She had a very deep and rich
imagination and her novels often became the basis of melodramas that she and her sisters would act
out for their friends. Louisa preferred to play the lurid parts in these plays the villains, ghosts, bandits,
and disdainful queens. Scholars have argued that Little Women affects critics emotionally because of
their adolescent connection to the story, thus coloring scholarly interpretations of the work. This essay
will talk about Alcott and the three critics Judith Fetterly, Ken Parille and Sarah Wordsworth who
criticized the story Little Women from different perspectives.
Louisa May Alcott was a prolific writer who drew inspiration for her work from her personal
experiences. This novel takes a place in the civil war, when the march family is divided, the father is
at the work and the only way they communicates with each other is by letters were their father
instructs them to be better and to fight their inner demons. When the story begins the girls are in a
state of self centered, they were complaining about being poor, every girl had her own dream, and they
are all far from being poor. Amy wanted to be an artist, Meg wanted rich luxurious life and Jo wanted

Comparing Two Art Styles
In the study of the Humanities one can find a vast list of the different styles and periods of artwork.
The dilemma comes in when taking two different artist with different styles from different time
periods and comparing and contrasting them. The ability to contrast would be facile, but the truth
hides behind the ability to compare such divergent artwork. Artwork that one may look at first glance
and find more dissimilar, then finding the juxtaposition of the two pieces of artwork. Even though
Poussin and Toulouse Lautrec s pieces of artwork can be considered different at first sight, looking
more in depth into both pieces one will be able to find several contrasts and comparisons. The
different styles and time periods can not take away from the parallel that both pieces posess. These

Generalissimo Rafael Trujillo And The Dominican Republic
Dominican Republic
On the night of May 30, 1960, Generalissimo Rafael Trujillo was killed. He was shot to death on a

States has been a partner in the assassination of Trujillo that helped climb to power.
The decision to take down Trujillo was reinforced in the early 1960 when the united states passed to
organized hemispheric opposition to the Castro region. This policy has ran ahead to a familiar place
that the United States opposed only governments. Unaware of the small talk going on around him,
Trujillo continued to live up to his reputation. In June, his side men blew up a car with Venezuelan

Hierarchical Structure Of Religion Chapter 3 Summary
Chapter Three: On the Hierarchical Structure of The Church and In Particular On the Episcopate
Christ created different ministries within His Church to benefit the Church and the ministers have
sacred powers and served the people in an orderly way, so that all may obtain salvation. This council
declares that Jesus set forth his Apostles and established His Church and willed the Bishops, who were
the successors of the Apostles, to shepherd his people until the end of the world. He put Peter in
charge and established a foundation of unity for the succession of the apostles and the succession of
Peter as the representative of Christ. Jesus called the disciples and put Peter in charge and before he
was crucified he sent them to Israel and to the rest of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also gave them helpers and ensured that the ministry would continue after their death. The
bishops, priests, and deacons serve the Church and shepherd the flock as teachers and just like the
office given to Peter is permanent, the office of the Bishops is permanent. The council says that the
bishops are like the Apostles and whoever hears the words of the bishops, are hearing Christ, and
whoever rejects their words, also rejects Christ. Through the Bishops, Christ is preaching the word of
God to all nations and is constantly administrating the sacraments to the believers. The bishops chosen
are the shepherds of the flock. The original Apostles passed on the gift of the Holy Spirit to their
successors through the laying on of hands. The sacred council teaches that this is the sacrament of
holy orders. This episcopal consecration confers the office of governing and teaching. This is how
bishops admit members into the episcopal body through the sacrament of holy orders. And just like
Peter and the Apostles had an apostolic college, the Pope, the successor of Peter and the Bishops, the
successor of apostles are joined as one body of unity. However the body of Bishops has no authority

X-Ray Analysis Essay
A primary survey of the remains is undertaken, (noting sex, stature, age, unique characteristics etc.) X
ray analysis will then be performed on the remains through the body bag, to prevent the loss of
evidence. There are different types of imaging techniques, these include multidetector computed
tomography (MDCT) scanning, fluoroscopy, radiography (X ray) (Wozniak et al., 2015). One
common method for undertaking the secondary survey is radiography. This comprises of examining
the cadavers for any unique characteristics, which may have been noted in ante mortem medical
records. Images should be compared to antemortem imaging and interpreted by a trained professional.

The macroscopic, microscopic and radiographic appearance of bone must be recorded in reference to
trauma and disease, this may then be compared to ante mortem records. When considering the
pathology aspect of the investigation the type of disease must be contemplated (lytic, proliferative,
deformative, trauma) and the ratio of bone being lost to bone being formed. The type of bone being
formed is also important and how the bone loss and or formation has transformed the size and shape
of the bone. When surveying the remains, it must be acknowledged which parts of the body are
affected and the position of the ailment within each bone. The location in which the symptoms are
manifested may be an indicator as to which condition the deceased was affected by (Ferguson and
Black, 2011).
Bone morphology is another method which may be used for identification, the shape of the bones are
unique and may be used as a fingerprint to be compared to ante mortem medical records (Cattaneo,
2007).
3. Diseases of Bone
Bone diseases affect the remodelling of bones. In healthy bone, bone is laid down (ossified) and
resorbed as needed. In diseased bone, the natural balance of resorption and ossification is affected
leading to there being a net loss or gain of bone. Bone diseases are generally either proliferative or
erosive although there are some, which are a combination of the two (University of Cambridge, 2004,

Vitamin Deficiency And School Age Children
VITAMIN A DEFICIENCY IN SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN
Generally, vitamins are dietary substance that cannot be manufactured by our body, hence it has to be
consumed. It is not energy producing substance but needed in a small quantity in order to help with
the metabolic functions of our body. When consumed in the required quantities, it helps to prevent and
assist in the associated deficiency diseases. According to vitamin categories, vitamin A belongs to the
group of fat soluble vitamins which comprises of Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K.
Vitamin A itself helps in the area of visual system, cell differentiation, maintenance of epithelial tissue,
growth of bones and in the accept of reproduction and immunity. Infection which is the major cause of
sickness in human beings is the invasion of the body by pathogenic micro organisms and reproduces
causing disease mostly in young children which is due to playing on the ground and touching so many
things, lastly putting their hands into the mouth without proper cleaning. Another area where infection
is mostly common and transferrable is schools, Day care centers, churches and some other places
where children play together without considering that children has a low level of immunity and
therefore susceptible to infections faster than adults. Infection is the major cause of morbidity during
childhood and among the school age. Respiratory and gastrointestinal infection causes a lot of school

Attending Class Importance
The importance of Attending Class
Attending Class
It is absolutely vital that you attend class regularly. Missing a class should be a rare occurrence;
something that happens at most once or twice a semester. If you miss class more than this, it will
interfere with your learning and have a negative affect your performance and your grade.
A prerequisite to success in any in any endeavor is showing up , and classes are no exception. If you re
not showing up to class, you re forfeiting every opportunity provided to you in the classroom.
Benefits
Going to class does far more than simply giving you credit for attendance. Class attendance facilitates
learning in a variety of ways, and here are just a few:
Lectures and classes supplement reading assignments. Class gives you another perspective on the
material besides just the textbook. Even if you think you already understand the material well, classes
always adds something new. The instructor may go over examples or applications you haven t seen,
concepts in class may be presented in a different way than in the text, and student questions and
discussion may elaborate on the material or provide new insights.
Professors often use questions or class discussion to enhance critical thinking skills. Attending class
can be an opportunity for you to engage the material with the guidance of the professor and the help of
your classmates. A professor may pose a question or lead a discussion in class that directs you to make

The Impact Of Nde On Food Industry
Introduction
This report includes role of NDE and examples of application of NDE in food industry. The purpose
of NDE in the food industry is to analyze food quality and safety to ensure a happy and health
customer, and in turn, increase profitability of the producer. Food quality is a sensory property of food
including appearance, taste, nutritional value (nutrient content), health benefit (functional ingredient)
or safety (physical, chemical, biological). Certain basic factors are commonly used to characterize
quality: appearance, texture, taste, aroma, color. Many quality factors of food are highly relative to
physical properties of the products, it s necessary to develop non destructive methods for evaluating
quality based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using low intensity ultrasound to evaluate foods quality was first employed in 60 years ago; until
recently, the full potential of the technique has been realized (Povey and McClements, 1988).
Examples of using of such technologies are found in the location of foreign bodies in food, edible fats
and oils were analysis by the size of droplet in emulsions (Sherwin and Nicol, 1998). Ultrasonic
analysis is based on the relationship between measurable properties of foods including attenuation
coefficient, velocity and impedance, and physical properties of foods containing structure and
composition and physical state. Physical, mechanical, or chemical effects of ultrasonic waves are
capable of altering material properties. For example, accelerating certain chemical reactions through
generation if immense shear, pressure, and temperature gradient in food medium where they were
propagated (Zou et al., 2007).
Ultrasound inactivation of microorganisms
The mostly widely used techniques to inactivate microbes in food industry are conventional thermal
pasteurization and sterilization. Thermal processing does kill vegetative microorganism and some
spores (Peng et al., 2012), however, the effectives of this processing rely on the treatment time and
temperature which are also proportional to the amount of nutrient loss, deterioration of functional
properties of functional products and development of

different environmental degradation stages and the existing interactions amongst the individual

MEditerranean Desertification And Land USe (MEDALUS) project is one of the largest project of the
European Comission established to analyse the global and regional climate changes. The MEDALUS
model (Kosmas et al.1999) identifies regions that are environmentally sensitive area (ESAs). In this
model, different types of ESAs to desertification can be analysed in terms of various parameters such
as landforms, soil, geology, vegetation, climate, and human actions. Each of these parameters is
grouped into various uniform classes and a weighting factor is assigned to each class. Then four layers
are evaluated: soil quality, climate quality, vegetation quality, and management quality. As outlined by
Kosmas et al. (1999) and Brandt et al. (2003), the method should be reasonably simple, robust and
widely applicable; the selection of parameters to assess environmental quality must be made attending
to their availability, economy and ability to update and the system should be adaptable to the
development and refinement of the existing information content and the possible addition of new
information. The principal innovation which was brought in to the study by Kirkby et al. (1998) in
their study of MEDALUS was long term interactions with the vegetation and soil, with implications
for the way in which the surface flow and infiltration are described and distributed area wise. The
model contains four inter related sub models for the atmosphere, vegetation, soil and

The Importance Of Education In The Puritan Society
he harshness of the Puritan religion is captured in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter. This
novel s protagonist, Hester Prynne, commits adultery in New England during the colonial times. She
gives birth to an illegitimate child, Pearl, with Reverend Dimmesdale. Punished with a scarlet letter A
that she wears on her breast, she is an outcast to society. This leaves her lonely; her only companion is
her Pearl. Hester is skilled with uniquely embroidering elaborate designs; thus she supports herself
and Pearl through her needlework. Pearl is often described as impish throughout the novel, disobeying
the standard expectations of children. The Puritans government threatens to take away Pearl from
Hester because they think Hester unfit to teach Pearl correctly. In comparison to Hawthorne s view of
a strict education system for Puritans, the Puritan community had a very effective education system.
The Puritans strong and strict view on religion greatly influenced education in Colonial America. The
Puritans believed that education was an important way to spread their religion. Rachelle Friedmann
wrote a reference article summarizing Puritan culture, including their views on education and religion.
In the Puritans and Education section, Friedmann noted the importance of education as an important
religious principle, causing literacy rates for both New England men and women were higher than in
other regions of colonial America. The Puritans were aware providing

Use Of Technology And Its Effects On The World
Throughout history, intellectual thinkers have guided the development of society through innovative
inventions that changed the world drastically. One such invention that changed the way others
communicated was the first telephone, created and revolutionized by Alexander Graham Bell. This
invention harbored in a new period of time with increased numbers of technology. Since then,
technology has expanded into television, computers, and other electronics that many rely on in order
to function on a daily basis. People of all ages and backgrounds use technology consistently, including
children and those from Generation Y of the 80 s and 90 s when electronic use became more frequent
(Zhitomirsky Geffett Blau, 2016). Many have debated the effects of allowing children to use
technology, but it is believed that there are both positive and negative effects. Childhood development
is influenced by technology because it affects health, learning, social relationships, and sleep patterns.
One process that is involved with child learning is the ability to plan. From infancy, children use
planning to learn through basic abilities, such us learning how to walk, understanding schedules of
feeding and sleeping, forming visual representations, and organizing speech patterns. For example, an
infant learns or plans to walk because it is a goal oriented behavior. The infant sees something that he
or she wants, determines how he will get it, and decides to orient his actions towards receiving

Irish Spoken English Language
The conflict between the English and the Irish has had many negative effects on Irish culture and
traditions. The Irish language in particular has suffered dramatically from the presence of the English
on the island. When the English gained control of Ireland, they forced their language upon the people
there, and by the end of the nineteenth century, the Irish Gaelic language was almost extinct. Since
then the language has made somewhat of a comeback. Today there are many Gaeltacht, or Irish
speaking, areas where the most common spoken language is Irish. The language is also taught in
schools both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Irish is the national and first official
language of the Republic of Ireland and is recognized as an official minority language in Northern
Ireland. There have been and continue to be many efforts to preserve and encourage the learning of the

Object 1: The Moon
Next to the Sun, the moon is the most recognizable object in the night sky, and is Earth s only natural
satellite. It has been estimated that the moon formed somewhere in the region of 4.45 billion years
ago, just a measly 30 50 million years after the origination of the Solar System. While there are many
hypotheses that try to account for the formation of the moon, the one that is backed the greatest is the
theory that the moon was formed when a large mass roughly the size of Mars collided with the newly
formed Earth, this sending out planetary material into the same orbit of the Earth. This material then
underwent the process of accretion and formed what we now know as the moon. With modern laser
altimetry, scientists have been able to accurately measure the topography of the moon. The most
apparent topographic feature on the moon is located on the southern pole, is referred to as the Aitken
basin, and stretches nearly 1400 miles in diameter. This is the largest crater on the moon and the
largest known crater in the Solar System. Not only is this the widest crater on the moon, but its floor is
also the lowest point on the surface of the moon. The dark spots that are visible with the naked eye are
called maria, and they are actually hardened pools of ancient basaltic lava. Next to the maria, the most
commonly seen features of the moon are the impact craters that pepper the entire surface.

Communication And Electronic Communication
Technology has become very important, ...more than one thousand children between the ages of 4 and
18 find out how technology was impacting their relationships and their social and emotional lives
(Catherine Steiner Adair EdD). Technology is advancing rapidly every single day, in hopes to make
our society adapt better to a technology based future. Communication is the biggest factor that plays
into our everyday jobs. Communicating verbally versus electronically both have the same intentions.
This is to speak clearly, and say what needs to be said, relying strongly on reactions. Does this affect
our society, when people rely more on electronic forms of communication, when they know
miscommunications can be cleared just as fast verbally? The question stands for our society as a
whole. If people rely vastly on electronic communication more everyday, does this change the way
people communicate verbally? The answer is yes, electronic communication affects more people, than
verbal communication does. Humans are born to communicate, as people they must have
communication as a skill to fend for themselves in the world. Technology affects more people due to
social media, texting, emailing and more. Almost every child when born, learns how to read, write and
most importantly, talk. They learn how to say the simple words, and eventually grow to having their
first conversation. This is a monumental step for the child who is learning. In the technology world as

Persuasive Essay About Animals
As I walk into the Homeward Animal Shelter for my dog walking shift, I think of the reason I began
my weekly volunteering. I want to give love, in any way I can, to the animals who have been left by
the ones they love. These animals that I spend an hour and a half with every Sunday need to know that
someone loves them. That they have not been forgotten about and that it gets better. After spending the
summer with my Aunt Renae and Uncle Chris and watching their newest rescue dog open up to be
after three years, I learned that. For a dog that was abandoned by his family and left on the street,
bounced between the shelter and temporary homes, he has finally found permanent love in our family.
Snoop s journey into our family began when his owners abandoned him and his little Chihuahua
brother on the side of the road. They fended for each other for days until they were brought to the
pound. From there they were separated. Where the little Chihuahua went is unknown, but Snoop,
being a pure bread German Shepherd, was taken to the Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS).
His white coat made him easy to love, but after the treatment of his last family he did not easily trust
others. Once Snoop had come out of his shell, not so sheepishly hiding from the shelter staff, he was
moved into a foster home. There in the foster home he started to become the dog my family knows
today. Living with another Shepherd helped him feel more comfortable and reassure him that their

Shakespeare Sonnet Analysis
Chapter 3 Nice to Eat You: Acts of Vampires
Vampirism isn t exclusively about vampires; it s about selfishness and exploitation as well. (16)
While writers typically use ghosts, vampires, and werewolves as a cheap thrill, they could symbolize
many aspects of reality. (17)
It can show how someone grows in strength by weakening someone else. (22)
Use other people to get what one desires. (22)
Place one s desires above someone else s needs. (22)
The story of a vampire usually follows a cycle: a corrupt, old fashioned figure strips a young, virginal
female of her youth and virtue which strengthens the life force of the old male, thus causing the decay
of the woman. (19)
Chapter 4 If It s Square, It s a Sonnet (**online chapter, so no page numbers**)
A sonnet can charm readers by its form, such as imagery, language, style, and wordplay.
A sonnet must be closely related but requires a certain shift taking place as well.
Most sonnets have two parts: one of 8 lines and the other has 6.
Petrarchan sonnet intertwines two rhyme schemes: the octave and the sestet.
Shakespearean sonnet divides the 14 total lines by 3 groups of 4 (the quatrains), and the last 2 being a
couplet.
The basic pattern for a sonnet is 8/6.
Poems require lines and stanzas, so it explains why a poem is structured in lines, but written in
sentences.
Form (aka: shape) might have its own significance; some authors prefer sonnets over poems that
requires everything to be perfect.

The Concepts Of Nature, Humanity, Power And Love Lay As A...
Suzan Muzafar
Professor John Wang
English 170W
October 13, 2014
The concepts of nature, humanity, power and love lay as a foundation for Shakespeare s, King Lear.
These notions are examined through the actions and realizations of King Lear, himself. Throughout
the discourse of this play we view the portrayal of humans as animals and witness King Lear s
mistreatment after he gives away his power. When doing so he makes clear his view on love and its
value, solely based on the flattery of words.Through nature, King Lear becomes grounded and
recognizes the animalistic behaviors of the rich and the struggles of the poor. This recognition brings
him to an utmost discovery that presents the reality of vicious humanity and changes the way he views
the world. Nature plays the utmost largest role in this play. We can begin with the orating of nature
through Lear relinquishing his crown and dividing his power among his daughters. It is here that Lear
states his intentions to shake all cares and business from our age, (l.l.40) in order to unburthened crawl
towards death. (l.l.42) Although, it was not in the intentions of King Lear to wreak havoc on his
kingdom, he did so by relinquishing his crown. Therefore, subsequently leading his kingdom to an
ironic flow of catastrophic events. It was impossible for Lear to stop being king due to the fact that it
was his rightful position and he acknowledges this by stating:
Hear me, recreant! On thine allegiance, hear me!

  • 2. Reproducibility Of Man Essay Reproducibility of Man When Walter Benjamin wrote The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction in 1969, I am sure he didn t expect it to parallel the arguments of today s discussions on the ethics of cloning. In the short shadow of the replication of Dolly the sheep, and five little piglets from Virginia comes the discussion on if this practice should really be allowed, and if so, what limits do you set? How can you look in the eyes of people who have had there family members pass away because the cloning of pigs for their organs have been outlawed. But what do you say when it comes to the question of just raising humans, lets say in a human farm , for exact organ and tissue matches. Where do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the right amount of money, this could actually happen. Others worry that interests would be sure to make clones of great athletes and other idols of pop culture, rock singers, movie stars, and the like, and, even worse, that temporary, parochial standards of beauty and human excellence might be frozen into flesh (Ferre 2). Inevitably, racist preferences would surface and those with the power of this technology would use it to distort human genetic history, reflecting their conscious and unconscious prejudices. This leads to human population evolving into a society where everything is alike, somewhat of a cloning holocaust. During long periods of history, the mode of human sense perception changes with humanity s entire mode of existence (Benjamin 31). If someone decides they no longer desire that type of person they have selected, how do you go about finding a new candidate to clone if you have already eliminated every other type of person? Walter Benjamin wrote about original artwork in this way. His essay, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction spoke of original artwork in this area. The original was just not as impressive anymore if you could make a dozen to a thousand copies of it. Even the most perfect reproduction of a work is lacking in one element: it s presence in time and space, its unique ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hurricane Katrina Essay Hurricane Katrina pounded the Gulf Coast with tremendous force at daybreak, August 29, 2005, severely punishing regions that included the city of New Orleans and its neighboring state Mississippi. Resulting in a total of just over 1700 people killed, and hundreds of thousands missing. When we think of Hurricane Katrina stories, we think of stories that were published by the media such as, Packing 145 mile an hour winds as it made landfall, the category 3 storm left more than a million people in three states without power and submerged highways even hundreds of miles from its center. The hurricane s storm surge a 29 foot wall of water pushed ashore when the hurricane struck the Gulf Coast was the highest ever measured in the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the crisis of Hurricane Katrina many survivors experience forces far beyond natural causes, some may call this animosity. In response to the increasingly desperate survivors search for food and water, the government has issued a defacto martial law, with soldiers and police enforcing a shoot to kill policy, forcing the entire New Orleans area to descend into chaos. Disturb by this atrocious outcome, Egger describes these actions as a legacy of the war on terror, has the mentality that an overwhelming military response was the solution to a humanitarian crisis (Egger 125) as he shines light on the inhumane behavior of the United States government. Research shows that many government officials and contractors had been sent into New Orleans to re establish order, and help evacuate survivors, but for most survivors that was not the case. As stated by Eggers, long time Muslim New Orleans resident Zeitoun, was forced out his home by government officials with guns and was threatened to be shot even after he showed his I.D. confirming he is a United States Citizen and a New Orleans resident. Egger gives us a brief taste of government animosity, as Zeitoun arrived on dry land, and was immediately handcuffed and thrown in a white van. As seen in the evidence above, we begin to see the transition Egger is making to expose his point of view that this is no different from a typical Katrina ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Effects of Human Capital on Maize Production in Ghana Essay Agriculture constitutes about one third of GDP and provides employment for about two thirds of the labor force in Sub Saharan Africa. Productivity growth in agriculture is therefore an important element for economic growth and development. Yet, growth in this sector has been slow. According to the World Bank (1989), agricultural growth for the continent from 1980 to 1989 averaged only 1.8% per year. Therefore, improving this growth rate is of increasing concern for both governments and international organizations (Pinckney 1995). Investing in the human capital base is regarded as one of the most effective ways to improve agricultural productivity (Nelson and Phelps, 1966; Romer, 1990; Bindlish and Evenson, 1997; Birdsall et al., 1999). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rivera (1998) argues that education, irrespective of the form, improves productivity to a very significant extent. 1.2 Problem Statement Agriculture is a very important sector in the Ghanaian economy. Although its contribution to GDP decreased from 43.5% in 1990 to 21.5% in 2013, it still remains a significant player in the economy of the country (Ghana Statistical Service 2008; ISSER 2011; CIA 2013). The agricultural sector employs about 60% of the workforce in Ghana and can therefore be regarded as the backbone of the Ghanaian economy (ISSER, 2011). Maize is the most important cereal crop produced in Ghana and it is also the most widely consumed staple food in Ghana (Morris et al., 1999). Maize accounts for 55% of grain output in the country. Maize is also an important component of poultry feed and to a lesser extent the livestock feed sector, as well as a substitute for the brewing industry. Although maize productivity has been increasing over the years, studies show that Ghanaian farmers are yet to produce enough to meet the nation s demand. The most recent domestic production data shows that the shortfall between domestic production and consumption would reach 267,000 Mt by 2015 if there were no productivity improvements (MOFA, 2011), prolonging the continual ... • 5. The Space Of Space Exploration Essay Introduction One of the greatest unknowns within our human existence is life outside of our known universe; decades of research, teamwork and funding have manifested phenomenal scientific triumphs in the fields of space exploration and aeronautics. The forefront of this Space Race arguably began with the Sputnik, a Russian artificial satellite launched in the late 1950 s. Following the launch of Sputnik 1, the genesis of American competitive space exploration built roots in the formation of NASA under the Presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration was founded in 1958 under a premise of competitive space exploration and continued discovery of truths residing outside of our existence on planet Earth. NASA externally competes with other teams of space explorers, which primarily includes Russia s Federal Space Agency, commonly called Roscosmos. However, moving away from Cold War competitiveness and the race to build the biggest and best rockets, NASA has fostered over fifty years worth of the most fortified and cohesive teamwork in the fields of science and aerospace engineering. The unwavering cohesion of NASA engineers, scientists and explorers has exclusively demanded the best and brightest to work on their teams. External pressures both on and off of the deployed NASA spacecraft render their employees to work with the strongest teamwork achievable between their highly diverse team members. Most adolescents would have to deal with other adolescents always starting fights, degrading you, and stealing your belongings. Adolescents in the foster care system turn to crime, have to deal with depression, and deal with having no one to really trust. When I was in the system, I was stabbed, I was shot, and constantly bullied; I hated each day of being in the foster system. I saw everyday as a struggle with no one to turn to. The only peace I had was to read a book and immerse myself into a make believe world. I believe the foster system is ineffective because children in the foster system struggle through their experiences of group homes and foster homes. First of all, children in the foster system have no one to turn to that they can truly trust. Most children in the foster system do not trust many people because of the fact that many see that their own parents ended leaving them. Some adolescents in the foster system saw therapists and social workers as just being paid to listen to them and not actually help them with their problems. When I was eight, I moved into a foster home and the foster parents had their own biological son that was treated like a little angel, yet I got treated as someone that was unwanted in their home. However, the way warfare is treated in the two epics is different. This can be attributed to many factors including the time between the composition of the pieces, the fact that pieces were written by different authors, and the fact that the pieces were written in different places. We can use these pieces to get a view of what the society that produced them thought about war and how the view of war changed as time went on in the ancient world. The Iliad is a poem of war. His mother had borne him along the Simois banks when she trailed her parents down the slopes of Ida to tend their flocks, and so they called him Simoisius. (4.547 51) In a war that has lasted nine years where untold numbers of men have died, why would Homer take such care to tell his audience about someone like Simoisius? Perhaps because if the listener knows something about the vanquished opponent, that gives more glory to the conquering hero. Another reason could be that for the vanquished in death they receive some measure of glory for fighting bravely against a famous hero like Ajax. Another place we see this emphasis on glory when Hector returns to Troy in Book VI. Hector s wife Andromache begs him to take his armies and make his stand near a fig tree close to the walls of Troy.(6.511 20) While Andromache s advice may be tactically sound, Hector refuses her by saying I ve learned it all too well. • 28. The Impact Of Nde On Food Industry Introduction This report includes role of NDE and examples of application of NDE in food industry. The purpose of NDE in the food industry is to analyze food quality and safety to ensure a happy and health customer, and in turn, increase profitability of the producer. Food quality is a sensory property of food including appearance, taste, nutritional value (nutrient content), health benefit (functional ingredient) or safety (physical, chemical, biological). Certain basic factors are commonly used to characterize quality: appearance, texture, taste, aroma, color. Many quality factors of food are highly relative to physical properties of the products, it s necessary to develop non destructive methods for evaluating quality based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using low intensity ultrasound to evaluate foods quality was first employed in 60 years ago; until recently, the full potential of the technique has been realized (Povey and McClements, 1988). Examples of using of such technologies are found in the location of foreign bodies in food, edible fats and oils were analysis by the size of droplet in emulsions (Sherwin and Nicol, 1998). Ultrasonic analysis is based on the relationship between measurable properties of foods including attenuation coefficient, velocity and impedance, and physical properties of foods containing structure and composition and physical state. Physical, mechanical, or chemical effects of ultrasonic waves are capable of altering material properties. For example, accelerating certain chemical reactions through generation if immense shear, pressure, and temperature gradient in food medium where they were propagated (Zou et al., 2007). Ultrasound inactivation of microorganisms The mostly widely used techniques to inactivate microbes in food industry are conventional thermal pasteurization and sterilization. Thermal processing does kill vegetative microorganism and some spores (Peng et al., 2012), however, the effectives of this processing rely on the treatment time and temperature which are also proportional to the amount of nutrient loss, deterioration of functional properties of functional products and development of ... The selection of the layers is an open process, though only meaningful layers produce meaningful results. Basso et al. (2000) in their study used an integrated, multi level, approach to study the different environmental degradation stages and the existing interactions amongst the individual components of the landscape of the Agri basin in the Basilicata Region in Southern Italy. They considered an Environmental Sensitive Area as a specific and delimited entity in which environmental and socio economical factors are not balanced or are not sustainable for that particular environment. MEditerranean Desertification And Land USe (MEDALUS) project is one of the largest project of the European Comission established to analyse the global and regional climate changes. The MEDALUS model (Kosmas et al.1999) identifies regions that are environmentally sensitive area (ESAs). In this model, different types of ESAs to desertification can be analysed in terms of various parameters such as landforms, soil, geology, vegetation, climate, and human actions. Each of these parameters is grouped into various uniform classes and a weighting factor is assigned to each class. Then four layers are evaluated: soil quality, climate quality, vegetation quality, and management quality. As outlined by Kosmas et al. (1999) and Brandt et al. (2003), the method should be reasonably simple, robust and widely applicable; the selection of parameters to assess environmental quality must be made attending to their availability, economy and ability to update and the system should be adaptable to the development and refinement of the existing information content and the possible addition of new information. The principal innovation which was brought in to the study by Kirkby et al. (1998) in their study of MEDALUS was long term interactions with the vegetation and soil, with implications for the way in which the surface flow and infiltration are described and distributed area wise. The model contains four inter related sub models for the atmosphere, vegetation, soil and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Importance Of Education In The Puritan Society he harshness of the Puritan religion is captured in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter. This novel s protagonist, Hester Prynne, commits adultery in New England during the colonial times. She gives birth to an illegitimate child, Pearl, with Reverend Dimmesdale. Punished with a scarlet letter A that she wears on her breast, she is an outcast to society. This leaves her lonely; her only companion is her Pearl. Hester is skilled with uniquely embroidering elaborate designs; thus she supports herself and Pearl through her needlework. Pearl is often described as impish throughout the novel, disobeying the standard expectations of children. The Puritans government threatens to take away Pearl from Hester because they think Hester unfit to teach Pearl correctly. In comparison to Hawthorne s view of a strict education system for Puritans, the Puritan community had a very effective education system. The Puritans strong and strict view on religion greatly influenced education in Colonial America. The Puritans believed that education was an important way to spread their religion. Rachelle Friedmann wrote a reference article summarizing Puritan culture, including their views on education and religion. In the Puritans and Education section, Friedmann noted the importance of education as an important religious principle, causing literacy rates for both New England men and women were higher than in other regions of colonial America. The Puritans were aware providing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Use Of Technology And Its Effects On The World Throughout history, intellectual thinkers have guided the development of society through innovative inventions that changed the world drastically. One such invention that changed the way others communicated was the first telephone, created and revolutionized by Alexander Graham Bell. This invention harbored in a new period of time with increased numbers of technology. Since then, technology has expanded into television, computers, and other electronics that many rely on in order to function on a daily basis. People of all ages and backgrounds use technology consistently, including children and those from Generation Y of the 80 s and 90 s when electronic use became more frequent (Zhitomirsky Geffett Blau, 2016). Many have debated the effects of allowing children to use technology, but it is believed that there are both positive and negative effects. Childhood development is influenced by technology because it affects health, learning, social relationships, and sleep patterns. One process that is involved with child learning is the ability to plan. From infancy, children use planning to learn through basic abilities, such us learning how to walk, understanding schedules of feeding and sleeping, forming visual representations, and organizing speech patterns. For example, an infant learns or plans to walk because it is a goal oriented behavior. The infant sees something that he or she wants, determines how he will get it, and decides to orient his actions towards receiving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Irish language in particular has suffered dramatically from the presence of the English on the island. When the English gained control of Ireland, they forced their language upon the people there, and by the end of the nineteenth century, the Irish Gaelic language was almost extinct. Since then the language has made somewhat of a comeback. Today there are many Gaeltacht, or Irish speaking, areas where the most common spoken language is Irish. The language is also taught in schools both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Earth s Only Natural Satellite Andrew Logan Dr. Richards PHY 161 5/1/15 Observing Project Object 1: The Moon Next to the Sun, the moon is the most recognizable object in the night sky, and is Earth s only natural satellite. It has been estimated that the moon formed somewhere in the region of 4.45 billion years ago, just a measly 30 50 million years after the origination of the Solar System. While there are many hypotheses that try to account for the formation of the moon, the one that is backed the greatest is the theory that the moon was formed when a large mass roughly the size of Mars collided with the newly formed Earth, this sending out planetary material into the same orbit of the Earth. This material then underwent the process of accretion and formed what we now know as the moon. With modern laser altimetry, scientists have been able to accurately measure the topography of the moon. The most apparent topographic feature on the moon is located on the southern pole, is referred to as the Aitken basin, and stretches nearly 1400 miles in diameter. This is the largest crater on the moon and the largest known crater in the Solar System. Not only is this the widest crater on the moon, but its floor is also the lowest point on the surface of the moon. The dark spots that are visible with the naked eye are called maria, and they are actually hardened pools of ancient basaltic lava. Next to the maria, the most commonly seen features of the moon are the impact craters that pepper the entire surface. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Communication And Electronic Communication Technology has become very important, ...more than one thousand children between the ages of 4 and 18 find out how technology was impacting their relationships and their social and emotional lives (Catherine Steiner Adair EdD). Technology is advancing rapidly every single day, in hopes to make our society adapt better to a technology based future. Communication is the biggest factor that plays into our everyday jobs. Communicating verbally versus electronically both have the same intentions. This is to speak clearly, and say what needs to be said, relying strongly on reactions. Does this affect our society, when people rely more on electronic forms of communication, when they know miscommunications can be cleared just as fast verbally? The question stands for our society as a whole. If people rely vastly on electronic communication more everyday, does this change the way people communicate verbally? The answer is yes, electronic communication affects more people, than verbal communication does. Humans are born to communicate, as people they must have communication as a skill to fend for themselves in the world. Technology affects more people due to social media, texting, emailing and more. Almost every child when born, learns how to read, write and most importantly, talk. They learn how to say the simple words, and eventually grow to having their first conversation. I want to give love, in any way I can, to the animals who have been left by the ones they love. These animals that I spend an hour and a half with every Sunday need to know that someone loves them. That they have not been forgotten about and that it gets better. After spending the summer with my Aunt Renae and Uncle Chris and watching their newest rescue dog open up to be after three years, I learned that. For a dog that was abandoned by his family and left on the street, bounced between the shelter and temporary homes, he has finally found permanent love in our family. Snoop s journey into our family began when his owners abandoned him and his little Chihuahua brother on the side of the road. They fended for each other for days until they were brought to the pound. From there they were separated. Where the little Chihuahua went is unknown, but Snoop, being a pure bread German Shepherd, was taken to the Missouri German Shepherd Rescue (MOGS). His white coat made him easy to love, but after the treatment of his last family he did not easily trust others. Once Snoop had come out of his shell, not so sheepishly hiding from the shelter staff, he was moved into a foster home. There in the foster home he started to become the dog my family knows today. (16) While writers typically use ghosts, vampires, and werewolves as a cheap thrill, they could symbolize many aspects of reality. (17) It can show how someone grows in strength by weakening someone else. (22) Use other people to get what one desires. (22) Place one s desires above someone else s needs. (22) The story of a vampire usually follows a cycle: a corrupt, old fashioned figure strips a young, virginal female of her youth and virtue which strengthens the life force of the old male, thus causing the decay of the woman. (19) Chapter 4 If It s Square, It s a Sonnet (**online chapter, so no page numbers**) A sonnet can charm readers by its form, such as imagery, language, style, and wordplay. A sonnet must be closely related but requires a certain shift taking place as well. Most sonnets have two parts: one of 8 lines and the other has 6. Petrarchan sonnet intertwines two rhyme schemes: the octave and the sestet. Shakespearean sonnet divides the 14 total lines by 3 groups of 4 (the quatrains), and the last 2 being a couplet. The basic pattern for a sonnet is 8/6. Poems require lines and stanzas, so it explains why a poem is structured in lines, but written in sentences. Form (aka: shape) might have its own significance; some authors prefer sonnets over poems that requires everything to be perfect. Chapter 5 When in Doubt, It s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suzan Muzafar Professor John Wang English 170W October 13, 2014 The concepts of nature, humanity, power and love lay as a foundation for Shakespeare s, King Lear. These notions are examined through the actions and realizations of King Lear, himself. Throughout the discourse of this play we view the portrayal of humans as animals and witness King Lear s mistreatment after he gives away his power. When doing so he makes clear his view on love and its value, solely based on the flattery of words.Through nature, King Lear becomes grounded and recognizes the animalistic behaviors of the rich and the struggles of the poor. This recognition brings him to an utmost discovery that presents the reality of vicious humanity and changes the way he views the world. Nature plays the utmost largest role in this play. We can begin with the orating of nature through Lear relinquishing his crown and dividing his power among his daughters. It is here that Lear states his intentions to shake all cares and business from our age, (l.l.40) in order to unburthened crawl towards death. (l.l.42) Although, it was not in the intentions of King Lear to wreak havoc on his kingdom, he did so by relinquishing his crown. Therefore, subsequently leading his kingdom to an ironic flow of catastrophic events. It was impossible for Lear to stop being king due to the fact that it was his rightful position and he acknowledges this by stating: Hear me, recreant! On thine allegiance, hear me! ...
