A Research Article On Hiv
Before reading this article, I must admit that I was not educated on the available options for men
living with HIV to conceive biological children. I always thought that they were limited to adoption
and the use of a sperm donors. I never though that an HIV positive person could have sex with an HIV
negative person without transferring the infection. I ve always known that a person s viral load played
a part in they re ability to transfer the virus, but I still wondered what person in their right mind would
take the chance of contracting such a horrible disease. I knew that condoms provided some protection
from contracting the disease, but again, who would take the chance of catching HIV. So, for me the
thought of an HIV discordant couple producing a biological child was unheard of, but after reading
this article, my opinion has been changed. Article Summary The main topic of this article focused on
HIV discordant couples that have a desire to conceive biological children. It focused on the fact that
limited clinic in North America offered or provided fertility treatment to HIV discordant couples
(Newmeyer, Tecimer, Jaworsky, Chihrin, Gough, Rachlis, Martin, Mohammed, and Loutfy, 2011).
This article summarized some of the discrimination and negative perceptions of HIV positive people,
it also discussed a study done in Ontario, Canada that followed 12 HIV discordant couples who
wanted to conceive biological children. In these 12 couples the men were the HIV positive

The Mad Cow Disease Epidemic
Twenty years after the wind down of the infamous Mad Cow Disease epidemic and thirty years
following its first appearance in British cattle, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy continues to
impact thousands. In 1996, it was discovered that bovine spongiform encephalopathy could be
transmitted to humans in the form of Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD), most commonly
through the ingestion of beef contaminated with BSE. Of the roughly 229 reported cases of vCJD, it s
believed that at least 3 cases contracted the fatal neurodegenerative disease through blood
transfusions. In an effort to protect the U.S. blood supply, the FDA has banned blood donation from
any person that had spent more than six months in the UK between 1980 and 1997. ... Show more

While dysfunction of prion proteins remains the most widely accepted etiology of BSE, the USDA
suggests there may be two other possible theories that could better explain the manifestation of BSE:
the virino theory and the virus theory. However, both theories pale in comparison to the robust
evidence in support of the prions theory. A major argument that works against both the virino theory
and virus theory is that throughout several studies, the use of various treatments known to damage or
inhibit nucleic acids have had no effect on the transmissibility of BSE. Interestingly, prion proteins
lack nucleic acids making them an excellent candidate as the infectious agent responsible for the
development of bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is characterized by an unusually long incubation period ranging
from 2 8 years. During the incubation period, an infected animal may not show any clinical signs
suggesting it is in anyway unhealthy. This is a major reason several countries placed precautionary
bans on blood donors. Experts believe it is entirely possible that a person could have contracted the
infectious disease during the BSE outbreak and could be carrying the disease through an incubation
period possibly extending beyond the suggested 2 8 year span without showing any clinical signs.
Since no diagnostic test currently exists to test a person for vCJD while they are living, there is

Examples Of Figurative Language In Hamlet
Love is a romantic emotion that people may have for one another. Confessing this love for a person
could be one of the most fearful things that one can do. Love can be expressed in many ways and that
is through actions and with words. In Hamlet 1.3.78. the author uses both of these things. We see a
male falling in love with the female of his dreams. He wants to do whatever he can to be with her.
Soto used a combination OF contrast, descriptive language, and figurative language to help convey his
theme. In line 3 It says, Alas I confess that I am not true to myself but to/you... and the reader can tell
that he wants her to know these things. Even though he s not honest with himself, he says he will
always be with her. He doesn t want to

The Virgin Mary Was Vital To The Structure, Spread, And
The Virgin Mary was vital to the structure, spread, and development of early and medieval
Christianity. She represents the Queen of Heaven and the Throne of Wisdom but also the link between
all humans to God. She is not considered a deity, but she is responsible for bringing God to humanity.
Along with saints she is an important intercessory figure that people look up to. Her compassion as a
women and a human challenged the male ruled system. She is seen as a symbol and more than just a
women, but a perfect and virtuous women, who was deemed the agent of the incarnation of God
through Jesus Christ. The Virgin Mary was resented by Jews, but those who preached of her allowed
the Virgin Mary to be seen as a women whose purpose is to nurture ... Show more content on

Her role has also been to connect with women and become their role model. What the Virgin Mary did
for women was allow them to devote their lives to Christianity in a world in which they are deemed
less powerful and when there is a social aspect of inequality present. The Virgin Mary was an example
of a strong, determined women who has the power to take action in a time period full of injustice.
Women during this time were attracted to the idea of a release from a patriarchal cultural. Women
lacked financial and economic autonomy and dependence on their husbands made it difficult break out
of their societal expectations. The Virgin Mary was able to empower women everywhere, and because
she is seen as a mobile figure, she can be called to help essentially anyone who believes in her.
Heroines were created from her influence causing even more of Christianity s social ideals to spread
as well as the importance of self discipline and avoidance of indulgence. Women s bright new image
of themselves derailed the dominance of men and gave them courage to live radical lives in order to
spread their faith. Women like Marcella, Melania, and Egeria chose to be transformed as they lived
life on the edge of society. Women created their own social movement which influenced other women
to branch out from their household roles into preachers, prophets, and patrons. Overall, the Virgin
Mary had a huge impact which had a domino effect of the enormous spread of Christianity.

Aliens Of The Human Kind
Aliens of the Human Kind
A man, marked with the scars of a long dangerous journey. Hot, bleak, and empty, the dry air and
glaring lack of life created a tangible sense of doom. Risking it all for his family, leaving his country,
crossing the border. This man has created a new life, he is now an alien in the land of freedom and
prosperity. An illegal immigrant is defined as anyone who moves to a country with intent on living
there, without any form of identification. Illegal immigration comes into play when people do not
follow the guidelines during the immigration process. Today there are many issues that surround
immigration: reformation of the system, amnesty, and the over effects. This raises the question, just
how do undocumented immigrants affect the US, politically, socially, and economically?
Many immigrants are currently coming to the US illegally are from Latin America. Back in the late
1800 s we had a different type of immigration problems with the Chinese. On May 6, 1882 president
Chester A. Arthur signed the Chinese exclusion act which prohibited all Chinese from entering the US
(wikipedia). Back in those times there was less sensitivity towards racism. One thing that was similar
between the two times were their motives for coming: money. Although 2016 is different than 1882,
we can still look to the past to guide our future.
Immigrants, aliens, illegals, whatever nomenclature you want to use, are a double edged sword. When
people move into an area, legally or

Significance Of Vlad The Third Or Vlad The Impaler
In 1897, Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, the story of a monstrous Transylvanian count who terrorized
local villages and fed on the peasants who lived in them. The book is today widely recognized as a
historically significant literary work, and its importance has caused many scholars to debate whether
Bram Stoker s main character Dracula was actually inspired by real historical figures. Although all
evidence used in the debate is somewhat unreliable, it can be established that Bram Stoker based his
character Count Dracula on historical figures to a certain extent. Many scholars believe that Vlad the
3rd or Vlad the Impaler was the direct inspiration for Count Dracula. Vlad the 3rd was the son of King

languages, including the language of the peasants. Like Count Dracula, Elizabeth Bathory s status as a

War And The Cold War
Despite the high costs of war both in monetary value and in terms of potential life and infrastructure
lost states and their actors despite their supposed rationality still seek war at times. Sometimes war is
unavoidable given the situations that actors find themselves in. States prior to war will attempt several
options such as bargaining and it is that failure in bargaining that tends to result in conflict or war.
Especially following the events of the Cold War numerous scholars have given their reasons as to why
conflict is sometimes beyond prevention. War is described as an actual widespread and deliberate
armed conflict between political communities. Following the Second World War and the Cold War,
interstate war is mostly rare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This failure in bargaining is a study on its own. For instance in the process of bargaining many states
find it difficult to trust their rivals because of the potential for incomplete information. Often, actors
will strategically misrepresent information as a means to extract certain demands when actors cannot
reliably trust in who they are bargaining with. This distrust between actors also leads to commitment
problems. In situations when there is a potential power shift and goods could potentially be exchanged
or divided there is concern over what could possibly alter in the future. Power changes such as this can
lead to preventive war or attempts at first strikes which is when one actor might seek action as a
means to prevent war or to have an early advantage. Often the neutrality of outside actors is necessary
for bargaining to succeed or to prevent one side from future exploits. Furthermore, intrastate conflict
which is often ethnic conflict has a greater tie to territory and resources. Things like territory for an
ethnic groups has specific relation to identity likewise for the state territory in the resources that come
for it are their sign of power. This makes territory an indivisible good that cannot be divided unless
one actor suffers a significant loss making war almost inevitable because conflict becomes all or
nothing. However, some literature rebuffs ideas that conflict is unavoidable by presenting evidence of
how actors irrational behavior can be

Gas Tax Essay
The topic of this paper is gasoline prices and higher state sales tax. According to Stephen Singer s
article(Aug 24,2017), ITEP S research reports(July,2017), (July,2017),(Aug 2011), and(December
2011), the authors tell the reader the consequences of higher taxes on sales and gasoline in
Connecticut and the solution to reduce tax burden on low income family. In Singer s article,
Connecticut legislators are deciding to increase sales tax from it s current to 6.85% to fix a budget
deficit, estimated to reach $3.5 billion in two years and improve state aid to towns. Retailers and
consumers criticize the decision and thinks it would hurt consumers and hurt retailers (Tim Phelan).

This quotes shows that, upper income families are not affected by the tax, but people who cannot
afford. Comparing Connecticut s gas tax to other states shows that, Connecticut s gas tax is not among
the highest. According to the graph provided by ITEPS research report (July 2017), Connecticut s four
percent gas tax is higher than certain states such as Kentucky, South Dakota, and Michigan, but lower
than other states such as Alaska, Louisiana and New Mexico. If Connecticut decides to increase its
state gas tax to fix its budget crisis and grow it economy, will encourage government spending. There
will be an abundant flow of money to maintain transportation systems and also public project. 2.
Excise tax is a sales tax based on the unit of goods and services purchased by individuals. Many state
and government officials impose this tax on certain goods such as gasoline, alcohol, tobacco and other
product to generate tax revenue. Excise tax can be levied on either the buyer or seller. When the tax is
levied on the buyer, the prices of goods increases and the quantity demanded by consumers decline .

Ethnic Conflicts In Sudan
According to Africa News, 45 people have died as a result of ethnic fighting, The attack against the
Ruop was carried out by the Pakem fighters in retaliation for the attacks that were carried out by a
group of Ruop youths. The fighting was very heavy, it left more than 45 people dead and many more
injured. The military has since been deployed from the state capital to try and stop the violence that
has seen the burning down of houses and property.
These tribal clashes are not new in Sudan for example, the Ma alya and Rizergat ethnic groups had
multiple clashes throughout 2014 that turned into an all out war in the oil rich region of Darfur. This
left a lot of people dead and many more injured from both ethnic groups. The conflicts were about
land rights and shared resources have lasted for more than ten years. The conflict in South Sudan has
seen people flee Sudan into neighboring countries and Sudan itself. There have been nine big refugee
camps that have been created but to According to Rev. Michael Didi, the fighting follows them even in
the refugee camps. And because of this, each ethnic group are put separately even in the camps.
This ethnic fighting is not confined to Sudan, almost everyone will remember the genocide in Rwanda
where members of the Hutu majority murdered about 800,000 Tutsi minorities. Ordinary people were
incited by local officials to take arms against there neighbor. The brutality spread throughout the
country with shocking speed, no one spared

Descriptive Essay On Chlorine Water
The familiar, inharmonious clamour frustrates me as I struggle to maneuver my way through the bulky
chlorine water. I roll over to take a breathe and gasp shamelessly: my lungs burn with the intake of
oxygen, and the absorbed energy is not sufficient. I approach the wall and as I come off of the flip
turn, I see the towering starting blocks through the blurred vision of my goggles.
The sight brings forth a nostalgic memory, and sequentially a profound sense of energy. My eyes dart
back to blocks and there s definitely something else, something missing. I just can t grasp the idea. I
shove my confused thoughts away and concentrate on swim practice and the set intervals. My legs
flutter with a burning sensation and I relish the pain. However, the thought can t stop recurring, and as
I drift into the wall, I travel back to beginning of the memory...
BEEEEPPP! The screech of the blaring buzzer jolts my idle body. While attempting to warm myself
up, I watch some racers sprint down the lengthy pool and back, and note their struggle to beat the
clock. Their fingers ram into the ebony black touchpad, and their exhausted faces twist to see the
blinking scoreboard embossed with time results. Watching their rosy faces and stocky movements as
they climb out of the pool, my stomach churns with an uneasy mixture of butterflies and the food I
definitely shouldn t have consumed 5 minute before a race.
My eyes darted over to the sidelines of the pool, where my coach, John, was

Songs Break Up Songs
Break Up Songs Throughout Different Genres
What does Paris by The Chainsmokers, Say Something by A Great Big World, and Here Comes
Goodbye by Rascal Flatts all have in common? They are break up songs. Each in their own way, all of
these songs are about pain and sadness caused by break ups. Some of these songs are meant to cause an
already sad person to cope with their sadness by pushing them farther into The Abyss . A few are
meant to touch on the happier memories of the relationship giving someone hope that they will love
again. All of these songs, through their lyrics, structure, and rhythm, are all meant to cope with a
person s sadness that results from a break up. Paris by the Chainsmokers is a song that reflects on the
happy side of a relationship that is rarely seen in break ups. The song is essentially the writer
remembering a relationship with fondness. It tells the tale of two young lovers on their own and in
love who eventually break apart. It also touches on happy memories like the lyrics We were staying in
paris,/ to get away from your parents (Chainsmokers, 1 2). By highlighting the highs instead of lows,
it shows the listener that they should not be sad about their loss but happy that they ever got to
experience the joy and happiness that most relationships provide. Almost no relationships end with
happiness but this song shows that it is possible to think happily of a relationship that has ended. This
song also uses higher pitched, electronic music to

In this paper I will argue for an externalist view that I...
In this paper I will argue for an externalist view that I consider to be the strongest rebuttal to
skepticism. Before I present the argument I think it is important that we define skepticism and
externalism. The type of skepticism that we will be discussing, is the view that we don t know
anything about the external world. That is, we don t have any prima facie justification or reason to
believe anything about the external world. The skeptic argues that even if we think a belief is justified,
its just an illusion. For example the skeptic might use the brain in a vat argument which claims
something like: (1) I don t know that I m not a brain in a vat. (2) If I don t know that I m not a brain in
a vat, then I don t know anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore an account of knowledge that does not require absolute certainty for justification will
deflate the consequence (I don t know anything about the world) of the skeptics doubt. For this reason
we will now consider an account of externalism as a response to the skeptic, but first lets start by
defining externalism. Externalism is commonly presented in opposition to internalism (which argues
that justification only comes from internal factors). The type of externalism that we will be talking
about, is the view that a beliefs justification is external. That is, justification involves external factors
such as whether or not a belief is objectivity true, or formed by a reliable belief forming process.
Justification is not agent centric, it is embedded in the relationship between the environment and the
belief. The way I see it, the best way to prove externalism is to show that a belief can be justified
without any accessible reasons. We can do this on the grounds of an everyday example My dog Bella
knows that there is water in her bowl. She doesn t have any internal reasons for the belief that there is
water in her bowl. That is, she lacks internal justification. But I know that Bella knows that there is
water in her bowl. Therefore justification is external. As we can discern from the example of Bella the
dog, justification should be understood externally. Since justification is something that should

The Role Of Music And Spatial Task Performance
The study that will be replicated is the study done by Nantais and Schellenberg (1999), which was a

to test whether music and spatial task performance are casually related. The aim of Nantais and
Schellenberg s study was to replicate and extend the basic findings of Rauscher et al which were that
participants who listened to Mozart before taking a spatial ability test did better than those who sat in
silence, also known as the Mozart effect. Nantais and Schellenberg expected that the performance on a

As predicted, the overall levels of performance were higher in the participants preferred condition.
This is also known as the participants preferred stimulus. The major modification made between this
study and Rauscher s study is that instead of having the participants listen to Mozart and then sit in
silence, Nantais and Schellenberg had the participants listen to Mozart and then a short story. In
relation to Rauscher et al. and Nantais Schellenberg, the researcher s aim of this experiment is to
investigate the impact of acoustic environmental stimuli on performance of visual spatial tasks. In
order to test this, we will have participants first listen to a section of Mozart music followed by a
spatial ability test and then we ll have the participants listen to a short story also followed by a spatial
ability test. The independent variable in this experiment are the Mozart and short story conditions. The
dependent variable was the results of the spatial ability test for each condition. The independent
variable for this experiment is the acoustic environmental stimuli. The acoustic environmental stimuli
were the Mozart or the short story conditions. The Mozart piece used in this experiment was Mozart s

Taking a Look at Breast Cancer
Nearly one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in her or his
life (Breast Cancer Health Center, 2014). I am sure that almost everyone has been affected by breast
cancer in one way or another, whether they had it or know someone who has had it. My mom s aunt
had breast cancer, as did my dad s mother. My great aunt luckily caught it early on and had it taken
care of. Unfortunately, my grandmother caught it too late; it had spread all over her body and
eventually ended up being the cause of her death. It is important to know the risk factors of developing
breast cancer and what you can do to help prevent it, as well as knowing treatment options if you or
someone you know is diagnosed with it.
Breast cancer develops in the breast tissue. It develops primarily in the milk ducts or glands, and can
travel to other parts of the body. Even if it has traveled elsewhere, it is still called breast cancer. If it
has spread, it will usually be referred to as metastatic or advanced breast cancer (Breast Cancer Health
Center, 2014).
Although breast cancer can occur in both males and females, it is a lot more common in females. In
fact, men account for just one percent of all breast cancer cases. Breast cancer is the most common
cancer among women. In addition, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths only being preceded
by lung cancer. Early detection of breast cancer can be lifesaving. If breast cancer is detected early on,
it is

trees which, are found throughout New Mexico in wet areas along the Rio Grande are dying (Smith,

opportunity rather than a problem. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Santa Ana is
interested in the exploring the potential for creating a composting operation with the excess wood in
order to offset costs of other community projects. The economical goal for the sale of the compost is
to create revenue streams for these projects. In order for compost to be a profitable product, an optimal
mixture of materials needs to be obtained. There are a variety of resources that would need to be
utilized in order to create a high quality compost and these resources would need to be located and
brought to the composting site from a number of different businesses and organizations, such as
restaurants supplying food

the condemnation of things that shouldn t be condemned. But it s a free country, right? So don t these
people have the right to say these terrible things, without repercussions? I have opinions on opinions,
and this paper is a great way to learn about them. To be brutally honest, most people s opinions on
most things do not matter, in some cases there is actually a right opinion, and having the freedom to
say what you want doesn t free you from the consequences of what you say. First and foremost, your
opinion is irrelevant. Here s why. All my life I have heard people get into serious, heated debates over
the stupidest things. I know that doesn t always have to happen because any sensible person would
realize that it is much easier to quietly disagree, and I ve also seen people do that. It s fine to share
your thoughts on music or actors or novels or whatever you please, as long as you understand that
other people are not exact replicas of you, and they will not like the same things. They might love
something you hate, deal with it. So if your cousin loves One Direction, and you can t stand them,
please don t disown her for it. It is literally hurting no one, it s not like she s a cannibal or something.
If she is, then I guess it s okay to disown her. Unlike a person s taste

First Class Moton Mentor
Sergeant First Class Moton has had a positive influence on my life. My mentor SFC Moton shared a
lot of his life with me in a short period of time and I can t even tell you his first name. Mainly because
we go by our rank in the United States Army and that the rank is your first name. And even though he
went on to make First Sergeant he will always be SFC Moton to me.
I never had a mentor before didn t know I needed one. But he was there when I needed one and trust
me at the age of 24 I needed some Guidance. In February of 2000 I was leaving Germany on my way
to Fort Hood, TX. I was assigned to Charlie Company also called Cobra Company in May of 2000.

I was ready to say goodbye to the U.S Army. I was going back and forth about what I was going to do.
Should I go should I stay type of thing. So one day SFC Moton said to me Sgt. May we having lunch
today you and me. He told me to be waiting for him in the back of the Company around 1030 hours.
We didn t go to lunch early often. I started wondering what was wrong did I miss something, was
something not cleaned was something missing. So I waited out back like I was order to do and waited
for some type of reprimand. When he got there he said let s take a walk to Popeye s and I was relieved
nothing was wrong. Our conversation started like it always had about women, we laugh and joked as I
told him what was going on in my world. We laugh and he told me one of his Recruiter stories. We
shared laughs and stories as if we were father and son. And then he asked me about my future plans in
the Army and wanted to know what I was going to do with my life. I gave him the only thing I had, a
story. I was going home to go back to school and get a job on the police force and live with my father
for a little while just until I could get on my feet. Really, I didn t have a plan and he knew it, like I said

me about my potential and let me know I already had a career in the Army.

The Personalistic vs. the Naturalistic Viewpoint
As far back as the time when man first discovered ways to communicate with one another he has
attempted to understand and explain the course of historical events. In considering the historical
development of scientific psychology two main views of the historical progress the field of science
have emerged: personalistic theory and naturalistic theory. The personalistic theory often times called
the great man theory holds that a chosen few individuals are unique in that they are endowed with an
extraordinary inner quality giving them the ability to do extraordinary things. When applied to
scientific history it is believed that this quality allows them to shape the course of that history with
nothing more than their ideas. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It ignited a novel appeal to all kinds of machines that were being made not only for entertainment
purposes but also for use in science and industry. Machines were now becoming familiar to people
from all walks of life all over Western Europe. They were becoming an accepted way of life. The most
important of all these machines to the history of modern psychology was the mechanical clock. Clocks
at this time were sensational and amazing and had an enormous influence on human thought
throughout all of society. They captured the essence of the doctrine of mechanism which was the
underlying philosophy and the zeitgeist of the seventeenth century. The theory of mechanism held that
natural processes were mechanically determined and could be explained through the sciences of
physics and chemistry. It led the prominent thinkers to imagine and explain the universe in terms of
operating as a great machine predictable, precise, and regular. Clocks shared these same
characteristics, therefore, they became models of the universe for scientists and philosophers. One of
the most noted philosophers agreeing with this idea was Rene Descartes(1596 1650). Descartes was
born the second child in a family of two sons and one daughter on March 31, 1596 in France. He
contracted tuberculosis from his mother who died from the disease just days after his birth. At the age
of eight he was sent to a Jesuit school and was educated in

The Six Barriers To Effective Communication
The six major barriers to effective communication are as listed below
(i) Cliche
(ii) Jargon
(iii) Slang
(iv) Sexist and Racist language
(v) Euphemisms
(vi) Doublespeak
A cliche is a phrase or a word which was previously considered clever, but due to the passage of time
and overuse has lost its original meaning (McLean, 2010). An example is, the writing is on the wall
and some fools may fail to read and understand while the signal is made . The sentence seems
straightforward, but some receivers of information may start gazing at the wall reading whatever they
find there thereby failing to get the intended meaning. I gave a short speech to my staff a few years
ago where I said the following, I need all of you be as fast as a rabbit and bring in many customers to
our business . I was shocked when one member of staff stood up and walked out of the meeting
hurriedly. I sent one of the staff to inquire whether there was something wrong only to be told that he
was rushing to get the customers to come to the meeting.
The second barrier to communication is the use of jargon. These are the words or terminologies which
are common within a specific profession but quite unfamiliar to the clients who use the products. In a
marketing set up, the marketer may do well to avoid such jargon while concentrating on what is
common in the realms of the customer so that emphasis is laid on the benefits and usefulness of the
goods or services. An example is the use of the word, one

#### We Carry Our Children in Our Hearts, Literally
There are scores of saccharine quotes about children being our hearts living outside of our body or our
hearts carrying a part of our progenies with us wherever we go. That said, I m not waxing poetic when
I tell you that we literally carry our children in our hearts, and in our lungs, liver and kidneys. Even

The Art Scene in New York City in the 60 s and Early 70s
Reflection circa 1973 was, grinding away best, an unobtrusively venturesome redesign on prior
models. A significant part of the new painting seen in Manhattan doesn t climb so high. It s generally a
gifted however doomed repeat. Four decades back, execution workmanship was an option to painting.
It was offbeat and clunky, past innovation, or perhaps unreasonably underneath it, intended to reflect a
world in which materials were transient, models pointless, values tricky. A ton of late execution
workmanship in New York, especially that in the biennial celebration Performa, has had very nearly
the inverse properties: It s cleaned, bundled, pricey, storehouse primed.
Then, we can set out over to the execution art s beginnings in a sketchy yet engrossing archival
presentation, Customs of Rented Island: Object Theater, Loft Performance, and the New Psychodrama
Manhattan, 1970 1980 at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
New York City in the early 1970s was a wreck: bankrupt, or everything except, and going into
disrepair. One focal point to specialists was the accessibility of shoddy, void space, prominently in the
Lower Manhattan mechanical locale that came to be called Soho. An alternate was that, with the
workmanship showcase in the pits after the 1960s blast, there was a nothing to lose opportunity to
investigation.
Onto the scene came craftsmen who were as intrigued by dialect, theater, move, music, social work,
TV, help and stand up comic drama as they were in

Analysis Of Truman Capote s Cold Blood
Imagine two people, both the same race, both the same gender, and they both committed the same
crime. The two people are on trial for their crime, but instead of getting the same punishment, one gets
the death penalty while the other gets 15 years. To think that the outcome should be the same, however
there are more than one factors that play into a person receiving the death penalty and they are not
always considered fair. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, displays a situation where Perry Smith
commits a violent crime, and is charged with the death penalty instead of serving years in prison.
Some might argue that his crime was vicious enough for him to receive death, but who gave them the
power to decide whether to take someone s life? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He couldn t control what environment he was raised in therefore killing him without taking his
upbringing into consideration, would be injustice and judging him on the wrong accounts.
Dr. Jones also discussed about Perry s inability to receive an education. Perry uses a wide range of
vocabulary that displays his high intelligence. Although he is above ordinary, he was never able to get
proper education. As Perry expresses, the man I could have been! But that bastard never gave me a
chance. He wouldn t let me go to school....But no education, because he didn t want me to learn
anything, only how to tote and carry for him. Dumb. That s the way he wanted me to be. So that I
could never escape him. But you, Bobo. You went to school. You and Jimmy and Fern. Every damn
one of you got an education. Everybody but me. And I hate you, all of you Dad and everybody.
(Capote 115) Perry voices his anger for not being able to get an education and resentment towards his
father for not giving him an opportunity to get education. He also spiteful towards his siblings who
were able to receive some sort of education. Perry held the hatred against his father and everyone, all
his life. Fundamentally, he became angry which resulted in him making decisions, out of rage, that he
later regrets, like the murder of the Clutter family. Dr. Jones, in his evaluation, describes Perry s anger
by saying, Akin

Use Of P. D. James Narrative Logic In Children Of Men
P.D James narrative logic in Children of Men shows a conflicted view of dictatorship in times of
struggle and terrorist actions in response. James narrative logic seems to point to dictatorships being a
necessary evil, but only acceptable to a point. The narrative does not seem to justify terrorist actions in
response to a dictatorship, rather a lack of political apathy. James expresses these points through the
use of characterization, perspective, and plot events.
At first, it seems as though James is against dictatorship and sees it as an unreasonable response to
times of struggle. Xan is presented as a complex character, but still unconcerned with ethics and
power hungry. The dictatorship is shown as bad for the country overall, promoting mistreatment of
part of the country s population and political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Journal Submission Analysis
Journal Submission 1 A very painful and enduring time in my life was when I was fifteen years old
and my father told me that I would never succeed in school or college. Ever since then, I have always
felt that I could never be smart enough for college and that I would probably just fail all of my courses
that I had planned to study. If it was not for my mom, who highly supports me with going to college, I
probably would not be attending college this year. I think having other positive family members has
really helped me to overcome my fears of failing my classes in college and that I am smart enough to
succeed in college and my life.
Before we did the guided essay in class, I would often forget to gather ideas and develop my topic for
my written assignment and so my paper would often look unfinished because it did not have a

My Placement At Paul Donaghy Pharmacy
During my placement at Paul Donaghy Pharmacy a number of things became apparent about how
increasingly important pharmacists are in a community setting. Pharmacist are at the frontline of the
healthcare system, interacting with patients on a face to face basis everyday allows for a number of
key services to be administered, which can take pressure of other healthcare professionals. Paul
Donaghy Phamacy, is located in the centre of Dungannon which is alow income area and has a high
number of foreign nationals, which had a number of services available to patients, the most popular
being smoking cessation, but it also offers weight management, monitoring dosage, care homes,
medicines use reviews for both respiratory and diabetics and drug substitution therapy. the pharmacy
had 10 patients on drug substitution therapy, which doesn t seem like a large amount of patients when
comparing with the numbers on other advanced services, but this service comes with its own
challenges. Most patients availing of this service come from an underprivileged or deprived area, and
are at the lower end of the income spectrum or are on benefits. This brings with it a negative
stereotype which as a pharmacist can be tough to gauge and deal with. Counselling each of these
patients brings a challenge as I was able to observe on a daily basis as each patients dose was
supervised daily. Prior to starting the service each patient had to sign a contract before undertaking

Essay On Marching Band
My junior year marching season had officially come to a close. The time arrived for the now former
drum major to aid in the decision of who would be his successor. Starting with the day I picked up an
instrument for the very first time, music has always been an important part of my life.
After the date for the interviews were announced, I practiced by asking myself a couple questions that
I thought might be asked of me and prepared my answers; I made sure that they were perfect or at the
very least expressed my interest in the position. The day of interviewing had come and gone. I felt
pretty confident with the answers that I had given. Now, I just needed to survive the hard part: waiting.

Memory Patterns In The Hunger Games
Understanding how memory, patterns, and symbols all work together in literary works will help you to
better appreciate what you are reading. Memory helps us to link one story to another, letting us have a
better connection to characters and events, since we ve already seen characters and events that are, in
some aspects, similar. Symbols let us better understand what the real theme is; is The Lord of the Flies
really only about a bunch of stranded boys who starts to killing each other, while a pig s head
watches? No, understanding that each of the boys(and the pig s head) represent a symbol helps you get
to the message the author is trying to tell you. Patterns helps us figure out which details are important
and which are not so much important, so we re not as bogged down with every detail of a story instead
of the story itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pinocchio Essay
Introduction:
Pinocchio is one of the most celebrated works in Italian literature. It was written by Carlo Lorenzi in
1883. Like many other writers in Italy at that time he wrote it under a pseudonym Carlo Collodi.
Collodi himself was a firm believer in education and one of his main goals was to educate young
people, at one point declaring. Open a school, and you will close a prison (Collodi in Person, p 141).
His novel about Pinocchio continually portrays the virtues of education and the evils of sloth. When
Pinocchio tries to avoid school and disobeys his father by running away, he suffers many misfortunes
as being abducted, jailed or transformed in to a donkey. But when he obeys what Geppetto tells him,

From the begging of the story we see Pinocchio being very naughty he plays pranks upon the kindly
wood carver Geppetto he noticed that these eyes moved and then stared fixedly at him. Geppetto,
seeing this, felt insulted and said in a grieved tone: Ugly wooden eyes, why do you stare so? Next he
made the mouth. No sooner was it finished than it began to laugh and poke fun at him. Stop laughing!
said Geppetto angrily (Adventures of Pinocchio. Chapter 3)

The Theory Of Knowledge, Evans And Smith
In presenting their theory of knowledge, Evans and Smith refer to the account of proper functioning as
put forth by Alvin Plantinga. This account is foundational in the development of their own theory,
specifically in regards to their conceptual dissection of what constitutes warrant. However, Plantinga s
account of proper functioning supposes a theistic element that generates a discomfort in Evans and
Smith, such that their own theory of knowledge tries for a secular, or naturalistic, procedure of
understanding proper functions; their desiderata are thus sustainable not by virtue of the existence of a
supernatural creator, but via the basic principles of natural selection. In taking this stance, Evans and
Smith discover themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous accounts of warrant have mishandled proper function, but also: thought experiments in
which it is generally agreed that warrant has not been achieved can be explained, in some manner, by
cognitive malfunction. Proper function can be simply understood, in the general sense, as how
something ought to work, should it be working correctly. The bird s wing should function in a manner
that gives it the ability to fly, as should the heart function by pumping blood. A broken wing that
cannot be used to fly and a heart that does not pump blood are thus both functioning improperly.
Similarly, if we are to have warranted beliefs, we require our cognitive equipment to be functioning in
the proper manner. If we believe we see a red table in front of us, in order to be warranted in that
belief our eyes must be functioning properly, and all of the parts of our brain concerned with the
cognitive processing and realization of this fact must themselves also be functioning properly. Now, it
may be considered that someone is very much justified in believing that there is a red table, but
unbeknownst to themselves, the red table is the mere product of a very strong and irresistible
hallucination. In this case they would not have a warranted belief, as their cognitive apparatus is
behaving inappropriately; the processes

Winn versus Trans World Airlines
Winn v. Trans World Air
There are many factors that go into the hiring process for businesses, but one factor should not be
discrimination. I believe that if you are best qualified for the job then it should be yours. I know if it
was my company I would want the most qualified person working for me. With me being in the
military it makes it hard to argue these points because we need to be diverse. My friend was up for
promotion to Sergeant First Class last year; it was his first time getting looked at for Sergeant First
Class. He had done everything in his power to stand out from his peers. Only 10 people were looked at
for promotion in his career field and he was one of them. He knew who his competition was and what
they have done since being in the military. Knowing he had more board points than the others he felt
confident that he was going to get promoted. When the list finally came out it showed that 2 out of the

very discouraged and felt like there was nothing else he could have done better to make himself more
competitive. When he was searching to find out who had made the list he noticed 2 females made it.

Social Benefits Of Physical Education Essay
The social emotional, cognitive and physical benefits of physical activity
During childhood our body and mind changes very fast. I believe that nowadays parents focus more
on the brain developement of their children than their physical activity. When I was a little girl over 20
years ago we spent most of our time outside playing, running and enjoying fresh air and being in
movement. Physical activity of children can secure them health and well being in their adulthood as
well as teach them a lot of very importants aspects like social relations and behaviors in different
situations.
Now I see that a lot of children spend their time at home or at after school activities that don t involve
a lot of movement. According to Child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Types and contexts of activities are variable and change with age during childhood and adolescence.
Activities of children aged 6 to 9 years are largely anaerobic (as in non sustained activities or games
such as tag ), and they help the child learn basic and more specialized motor skills. As youth move
into the pubertal transition (about age 10 14 years, earlier in girls than in boys), these skills are
incorporated into a variety of individual and group activities and many organized sports. Mature
structure and function are approached or attained in late adolescence (age 15 18 years), so that
physical activity programs can be more structured.
Physical activity has not only physical benefits. It also has a very big impact on social emotional and
cognitive aspects of child s live. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The
development of a physically active lifestyle is a goal for all children. Traditional team and competitive
sports may promote healthy activity for selected youth. Individual sports, noncompetitive sports,
lifetime sports, and recreational activities expand the opportunity for activity to everyone. The
opportunity to be active on a regular basis, as well as the enjoyment and competence gained from
activity, may increase the chances that a physically active lifestyle will be adopted.
Team sports for example not only provide physical activity for children. They also introduce them to
the meaning of teamwork and ability

The Palette Of King Narmer
The Palette of King Narmer Stretching across ten countries and spanning over four thousand miles,
the Nile River became the heart of Egyptian civilization. The lower (northern) Nile overflowed its
banks several months out of the year before the creation of the Aswan High Dam in 1970. When the
floodwaters receded, they left a new layer of rich silt behind, making the surrounding valley and delta
a fertile and desirable habitat. As early as 8000 BCE, the people who inhabited the valley of the world
s longest river became relatively sedentary and in 5000 BCE they adopted the agricultural village life
commonly associated with Neolithic culture. Throughout the Predynastic period, the North African
climate was immensely dry. In order to combat this problem, many villages formed alliances that
worked to control the river s flow. Over time, these small federations of villages conquered and
absorbed other weaker ones. As communities grew into chiefdoms, they began to advance rapidly
toward refined civilization shortly after 3600 BCE. Egypt became a consolidated state at the beginning
the Early Dynastic Period in 3000 BCE. According to legend, following creation, Upper Egypt in the

The Political Party System
In the United States of America, the political party system is pivotal to the function of our nation. The
political party system in our society today is separated between the Democrats and the Republicans.
Although political parties do possess uncertainties their advantages outweigh their drawbacks in
America. The United States of America is made up of two basic political parties, the Democratic Party
and the Republican Party. A political party is a group of individuals who share similar interest and
they work together with one another to construct and execute policies. The Democratic Party was
established in 1828, by Andrew Jackson. The Democratic Party was created based on a belief in an
unyielding government and an advocacy of social and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nation is aware of the benefits political parties hold, and they are also are aware of their
hindrances. Numerous Americans oppose the political party system, because of their potential to
negatively hinder our society. They disagree with the system so much that they would rather see the
political party system abolished than see it reformed. I understand fully that the political party system
has their issues. For instance, our political party system does not offer equality for all parties. In our
society, our party system operates under the two party system, if we had three or more parties running
they would not have a fair chance. We only examine are two leading political parties in our ballots.
The system lacks equality which can be extremely unsetting to voters who support the less popular
parties. We are known as the land of equal opportunity, yet we contradict ourselves. In addition,
political parties can be selfish and they do not always focus on what is beneficial to our nation as a
whole. Political parties will focus on their interest and their end goals that will only benefit them. The
list goes on but I do not believe abolishing the party system is the answer. Abolishing the political
party system would be to extreme, but I do believe the party system needs to be reformed. Instead of
parties receiving funds from wealthy corporations there should be

  • 3. A Research Article On Hiv Before reading this article, I must admit that I was not educated on the available options for men living with HIV to conceive biological children. I always thought that they were limited to adoption and the use of a sperm donors. I never though that an HIV positive person could have sex with an HIV negative person without transferring the infection. I ve always known that a person s viral load played a part in they re ability to transfer the virus, but I still wondered what person in their right mind would take the chance of contracting such a horrible disease. I knew that condoms provided some protection from contracting the disease, but again, who would take the chance of catching HIV. So, for me the thought of an HIV discordant couple producing a biological child was unheard of, but after reading this article, my opinion has been changed. Article Summary The main topic of this article focused on HIV discordant couples that have a desire to conceive biological children. It focused on the fact that limited clinic in North America offered or provided fertility treatment to HIV discordant couples (Newmeyer, Tecimer, Jaworsky, Chihrin, Gough, Rachlis, Martin, Mohammed, and Loutfy, 2011). • 4. The Mad Cow Disease Epidemic Twenty years after the wind down of the infamous Mad Cow Disease epidemic and thirty years following its first appearance in British cattle, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy continues to impact thousands. In 1996, it was discovered that bovine spongiform encephalopathy could be transmitted to humans in the form of Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD), most commonly through the ingestion of beef contaminated with BSE. Of the roughly 229 reported cases of vCJD, it s believed that at least 3 cases contracted the fatal neurodegenerative disease through blood transfusions. In an effort to protect the U.S. blood supply, the FDA has banned blood donation from any person that had spent more than six months in the UK between 1980 and 1997. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While dysfunction of prion proteins remains the most widely accepted etiology of BSE, the USDA suggests there may be two other possible theories that could better explain the manifestation of BSE: the virino theory and the virus theory. However, both theories pale in comparison to the robust evidence in support of the prions theory. A major argument that works against both the virino theory and virus theory is that throughout several studies, the use of various treatments known to damage or inhibit nucleic acids have had no effect on the transmissibility of BSE. Interestingly, prion proteins lack nucleic acids making them an excellent candidate as the infectious agent responsible for the development of bovine spongiform encephalopathy. Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy is characterized by an unusually long incubation period ranging from 2 8 years. During the incubation period, an infected animal may not show any clinical signs suggesting it is in anyway unhealthy. This is a major reason several countries placed precautionary bans on blood donors. Experts believe it is entirely possible that a person could have contracted the infectious disease during the BSE outbreak and could be carrying the disease through an incubation period possibly extending beyond the suggested 2 8 year span without showing any clinical signs. Since no diagnostic test currently exists to test a person for vCJD while they are living, there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Confessing this love for a person could be one of the most fearful things that one can do. Love can be expressed in many ways and that is through actions and with words. In Hamlet 1.3.78. the author uses both of these things. We see a male falling in love with the female of his dreams. He wants to do whatever he can to be with her. Soto used a combination OF contrast, descriptive language, and figurative language to help convey his theme. Her role has also been to connect with women and become their role model. What the Virgin Mary did for women was allow them to devote their lives to Christianity in a world in which they are deemed less powerful and when there is a social aspect of inequality present. The Virgin Mary was an example of a strong, determined women who has the power to take action in a time period full of injustice. Women during this time were attracted to the idea of a release from a patriarchal cultural. Women lacked financial and economic autonomy and dependence on their husbands made it difficult break out of their societal expectations. The Virgin Mary was able to empower women everywhere, and because she is seen as a mobile figure, she can be called to help essentially anyone who believes in her. Heroines were created from her influence causing even more of Christianity s social ideals to spread as well as the importance of self discipline and avoidance of indulgence. Women s bright new image of themselves derailed the dominance of men and gave them courage to live radical lives in order to spread their faith. Women like Marcella, Melania, and Egeria chose to be transformed as they lived life on the edge of society. Hot, bleak, and empty, the dry air and glaring lack of life created a tangible sense of doom. Risking it all for his family, leaving his country, crossing the border. This man has created a new life, he is now an alien in the land of freedom and prosperity. An illegal immigrant is defined as anyone who moves to a country with intent on living there, without any form of identification. Illegal immigration comes into play when people do not follow the guidelines during the immigration process. Today there are many issues that surround immigration: reformation of the system, amnesty, and the over effects. This raises the question, just how do undocumented immigrants affect the US, politically, socially, and economically? Many immigrants are currently coming to the US illegally are from Latin America. Back in the late 1800 s we had a different type of immigration problems with the Chinese. On May 6, 1882 president Chester A. Arthur signed the Chinese exclusion act which prohibited all Chinese from entering the US (wikipedia). Back in those times there was less sensitivity towards racism. One thing that was similar between the two times were their motives for coming: money. Although 2016 is different than 1882, we can still look to the past to guide our future. Significance Of Vlad The Third Or Vlad The Impaler In 1897, Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, the story of a monstrous Transylvanian count who terrorized local villages and fed on the peasants who lived in them. The book is today widely recognized as a historically significant literary work, and its importance has caused many scholars to debate whether Bram Stoker s main character Dracula was actually inspired by real historical figures. Although all evidence used in the debate is somewhat unreliable, it can be established that Bram Stoker based his character Count Dracula on historical figures to a certain extent. War And The Cold War Despite the high costs of war both in monetary value and in terms of potential life and infrastructure lost states and their actors despite their supposed rationality still seek war at times. Sometimes war is unavoidable given the situations that actors find themselves in. States prior to war will attempt several options such as bargaining and it is that failure in bargaining that tends to result in conflict or war. Especially following the events of the Cold War numerous scholars have given their reasons as to why conflict is sometimes beyond prevention. War is described as an actual widespread and deliberate armed conflict between political communities. Following the Second World War and the Cold War, interstate war is mostly rare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This failure in bargaining is a study on its own. For instance in the process of bargaining many states find it difficult to trust their rivals because of the potential for incomplete information. Often, actors will strategically misrepresent information as a means to extract certain demands when actors cannot reliably trust in who they are bargaining with. This distrust between actors also leads to commitment problems. In situations when there is a potential power shift and goods could potentially be exchanged or divided there is concern over what could possibly alter in the future. Power changes such as this can lead to preventive war or attempts at first strikes which is when one actor might seek action as a means to prevent war or to have an early advantage. Often the neutrality of outside actors is necessary for bargaining to succeed or to prevent one side from future exploits. Furthermore, intrastate conflict which is often ethnic conflict has a greater tie to territory and resources. Things like territory for an ethnic groups has specific relation to identity likewise for the state territory in the resources that come for it are their sign of power. This makes territory an indivisible good that cannot be divided unless one actor suffers a significant loss making war almost inevitable because conflict becomes all or nothing. These tribal clashes are not new in Sudan for example, the Ma alya and Rizergat ethnic groups had multiple clashes throughout 2014 that turned into an all out war in the oil rich region of Darfur. This left a lot of people dead and many more injured from both ethnic groups. The conflicts were about land rights and shared resources have lasted for more than ten years. The conflict in South Sudan has seen people flee Sudan into neighboring countries and Sudan itself. There have been nine big refugee camps that have been created but to According to Rev. Michael Didi, the fighting follows them even in the refugee camps. And because of this, each ethnic group are put separately even in the camps. This ethnic fighting is not confined to Sudan, almost everyone will remember the genocide in Rwanda where members of the Hutu majority murdered about 800,000 Tutsi minorities. Ordinary people were incited by local officials to take arms against there neighbor. The brutality spread throughout the country with shocking speed, no one spared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Descriptive Essay On Chlorine Water The familiar, inharmonious clamour frustrates me as I struggle to maneuver my way through the bulky chlorine water. I roll over to take a breathe and gasp shamelessly: my lungs burn with the intake of oxygen, and the absorbed energy is not sufficient. I approach the wall and as I come off of the flip turn, I see the towering starting blocks through the blurred vision of my goggles. The sight brings forth a nostalgic memory, and sequentially a profound sense of energy. My eyes dart back to blocks and there s definitely something else, something missing. I just can t grasp the idea. I shove my confused thoughts away and concentrate on swim practice and the set intervals. My legs flutter with a burning sensation and I relish the pain. However, the thought can t stop recurring, and as I drift into the wall, I travel back to beginning of the memory... BEEEEPPP! The screech of the blaring buzzer jolts my idle body. While attempting to warm myself up, I watch some racers sprint down the lengthy pool and back, and note their struggle to beat the clock. Their fingers ram into the ebony black touchpad, and their exhausted faces twist to see the blinking scoreboard embossed with time results. Songs Break Up Songs Break Up Songs Throughout Different Genres What does Paris by The Chainsmokers, Say Something by A Great Big World, and Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts all have in common? They are break up songs. Each in their own way, all of these songs are about pain and sadness caused by break ups. Some of these songs are meant to cause an already sad person to cope with their sadness by pushing them farther into The Abyss . A few are meant to touch on the happier memories of the relationship giving someone hope that they will love again. All of these songs, through their lyrics, structure, and rhythm, are all meant to cope with a person s sadness that results from a break up. Paris by the Chainsmokers is a song that reflects on the happy side of a relationship that is rarely seen in break ups. The song is essentially the writer remembering a relationship with fondness. It tells the tale of two young lovers on their own and in love who eventually break apart. It also touches on happy memories like the lyrics We were staying in paris,/ to get away from your parents (Chainsmokers, 1 2). By highlighting the highs instead of lows, it shows the listener that they should not be sad about their loss but happy that they ever got to experience the joy and happiness that most relationships provide. Almost no relationships end with happiness but this song shows that it is possible to think happily of a relationship that has ended. This song also uses higher pitched, electronic music to ... Before I present the argument I think it is important that we define skepticism and externalism. The type of skepticism that we will be discussing, is the view that we don t know anything about the external world. That is, we don t have any prima facie justification or reason to believe anything about the external world. The skeptic argues that even if we think a belief is justified, its just an illusion. For example the skeptic might use the brain in a vat argument which claims something like: (1) I don t know that I m not a brain in a vat. (2) If I don t know that I m not a brain in a vat, then I don t know anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore an account of knowledge that does not require absolute certainty for justification will deflate the consequence (I don t know anything about the world) of the skeptics doubt. For this reason we will now consider an account of externalism as a response to the skeptic, but first lets start by defining externalism. Externalism is commonly presented in opposition to internalism (which argues that justification only comes from internal factors). The type of externalism that we will be talking about, is the view that a beliefs justification is external. That is, justification involves external factors such as whether or not a belief is objectivity true, or formed by a reliable belief forming process. Justification is not agent centric, it is embedded in the relationship between the environment and the belief. The way I see it, the best way to prove externalism is to show that a belief can be justified without any accessible reasons. We can do this on the grounds of an everyday example My dog Bella knows that there is water in her bowl. She doesn t have any internal reasons for the belief that there is water in her bowl. That is, she lacks internal justification. But I know that Bella knows that there is water in her bowl. Therefore justification is external. As we can discern from the example of Bella the dog, justification should be understood externally. Since justification is something that should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am sure that almost everyone has been affected by breast cancer in one way or another, whether they had it or know someone who has had it. My mom s aunt had breast cancer, as did my dad s mother. My great aunt luckily caught it early on and had it taken care of. Unfortunately, my grandmother caught it too late; it had spread all over her body and eventually ended up being the cause of her death. It is important to know the risk factors of developing breast cancer and what you can do to help prevent it, as well as knowing treatment options if you or someone you know is diagnosed with it. Breast cancer develops in the breast tissue. It develops primarily in the milk ducts or glands, and can travel to other parts of the body. Even if it has traveled elsewhere, it is still called breast cancer. If it has spread, it will usually be referred to as metastatic or advanced breast cancer (Breast Cancer Health Center, 2014). Although breast cancer can occur in both males and females, it is a lot more common in females. In fact, men account for just one percent of all breast cancer cases. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. In addition, it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths only being preceded by lung cancer. The personalistic theory often times called the great man theory holds that a chosen few individuals are unique in that they are endowed with an extraordinary inner quality giving them the ability to do extraordinary things. Machines were now becoming familiar to people from all walks of life all over Western Europe. They were becoming an accepted way of life. The most important of all these machines to the history of modern psychology was the mechanical clock. Clocks at this time were sensational and amazing and had an enormous influence on human thought throughout all of society. They captured the essence of the doctrine of mechanism which was the underlying philosophy and the zeitgeist of the seventeenth century. The theory of mechanism held that natural processes were mechanically determined and could be explained through the sciences of physics and chemistry. It led the prominent thinkers to imagine and explain the universe in terms of operating as a great machine predictable, precise, and regular. Clocks shared these same characteristics, therefore, they became models of the universe for scientists and philosophers. • 23. The Six Barriers To Effective Communication The six major barriers to effective communication are as listed below (i) Cliche (ii) Jargon (iii) Slang (iv) Sexist and Racist language (v) Euphemisms (vi) Doublespeak A cliche is a phrase or a word which was previously considered clever, but due to the passage of time and overuse has lost its original meaning (McLean, 2010). An example is, the writing is on the wall and some fools may fail to read and understand while the signal is made . The sentence seems straightforward, but some receivers of information may start gazing at the wall reading whatever they find there thereby failing to get the intended meaning. I gave a short speech to my staff a few years ago where I said the following, I need all of you be as fast as a rabbit and bring in many customers to our business . I was shocked when one member of staff stood up and walked out of the meeting hurriedly. I sent one of the staff to inquire whether there was something wrong only to be told that he was rushing to get the customers to come to the meeting. The second barrier to communication is the use of jargon. These are the words or terminologies which are common within a specific profession but quite unfamiliar to the clients who use the products. In a marketing set up, the marketer may do well to avoid such jargon while concentrating on what is common in the realms of the customer so that emphasis is laid on the benefits and usefulness of the goods or services. A significant part of the new painting seen in Manhattan doesn t climb so high. It s generally a gifted however doomed repeat. Four decades back, execution workmanship was an option to painting. It was offbeat and clunky, past innovation, or perhaps unreasonably underneath it, intended to reflect a world in which materials were transient, models pointless, values tricky. A ton of late execution workmanship in New York, especially that in the biennial celebration Performa, has had very nearly the inverse properties: It s cleaned, bundled, pricey, storehouse primed. One focal point to specialists was the accessibility of shoddy, void space, prominently in the Lower Manhattan mechanical locale that came to be called Soho. Memory helps us to link one story to another, letting us have a better connection to characters and events, since we ve already seen characters and events that are, in some aspects, similar. Symbols let us better understand what the real theme is; is The Lord of the Flies really only about a bunch of stranded boys who starts to killing each other, while a pig s head watches? No, understanding that each of the boys(and the pig s head) represent a symbol helps you get to the message the author is trying to tell you. Patterns helps us figure out which details are important and which are not so much important, so we re not as bogged down with every detail of a story instead of the story itself ... Katniss faces many, many challenges, mostly people trying to kill her(challenges,)but what she really faces is the realization that she does have a choice, that she doesn t have to be a game ... • 34. Pinocchio Essay Introduction: Pinocchio is one of the most celebrated works in Italian literature. It was written by Carlo Lorenzi in 1883. Like many other writers in Italy at that time he wrote it under a pseudonym Carlo Collodi. Collodi himself was a firm believer in education and one of his main goals was to educate young people, at one point declaring. Open a school, and you will close a prison (Collodi in Person, p 141). His novel about Pinocchio continually portrays the virtues of education and the evils of sloth. When Pinocchio tries to avoid school and disobeys his father by running away, he suffers many misfortunes as being abducted, jailed or transformed in to a donkey. But when he obeys what Geppetto tells him, works at his studies, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Subtopics In The Industrial Revolution When you enter university or college, you will no doubt have to write an essay in one or more courses that you will be required to take throughout your academic period; whether it be a research paper, a persuasive essay, or even a compare and contrast essay, Usually, this always involves intensive research or a research process such as choosing a topic and to then collect data and information on your chosen topic. • 36. The Theory Of Knowledge, Evans And Smith In presenting their theory of knowledge, Evans and Smith refer to the account of proper functioning as put forth by Alvin Plantinga. This account is foundational in the development of their own theory, specifically in regards to their conceptual dissection of what constitutes warrant. However, Plantinga s account of proper functioning supposes a theistic element that generates a discomfort in Evans and Smith, such that their own theory of knowledge tries for a secular, or naturalistic, procedure of understanding proper functions; their desiderata are thus sustainable not by virtue of the existence of a supernatural creator, but via the basic principles of natural selection. In taking this stance, Evans and Smith discover themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Previous accounts of warrant have mishandled proper function, but also: thought experiments in which it is generally agreed that warrant has not been achieved can be explained, in some manner, by cognitive malfunction. Proper function can be simply understood, in the general sense, as how something ought to work, should it be working correctly. The bird s wing should function in a manner that gives it the ability to fly, as should the heart function by pumping blood. A broken wing that cannot be used to fly and a heart that does not pump blood are thus both functioning improperly. Similarly, if we are to have warranted beliefs, we require our cognitive equipment to be functioning in the proper manner. If we believe we see a red table in front of us, in order to be warranted in that belief our eyes must be functioning properly, and all of the parts of our brain concerned with the cognitive processing and realization of this fact must themselves also be functioning properly. Now, it may be considered that someone is very much justified in believing that there is a red table, but unbeknownst to themselves, the red table is the mere product of a very strong and irresistible hallucination. In this case they would not have a warranted belief, as their cognitive apparatus is behaving inappropriately; the processes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Winn versus Trans World Airlines Winn v. Trans World Air There are many factors that go into the hiring process for businesses, but one factor should not be discrimination. I believe that if you are best qualified for the job then it should be yours. I know if it was my company I would want the most qualified person working for me. With me being in the military it makes it hard to argue these points because we need to be diverse. My friend was up for promotion to Sergeant First Class last year; it was his first time getting looked at for Sergeant First Class. He had done everything in his power to stand out from his peers. Only 10 people were looked at for promotion in his career field and he was one of them. He knew who his competition was and what they have done since being in the military. Knowing he had more board points than the others he felt confident that he was going to get promoted. When the list finally came out it showed that 2 out of the 10 made it. He was sure one of the names was his. To his disbelief his name was not on it. He was very discouraged and felt like there was nothing else he could have done better to make himself more competitive. When he was searching to find out who had made the list he noticed 2 females made it. With research he found out they had not been in as long or had any special assignments, or leadership time. This was upsetting to know that the military has to promote based on gender and race. I always thought and believed a company would want ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I believe that nowadays parents focus more on the brain developement of their children than their physical activity. When I was a little girl over 20 years ago we spent most of our time outside playing, running and enjoying fresh air and being in movement. Physical activity of children can secure them health and well being in their adulthood as well as teach them a lot of very importants aspects like social relations and behaviors in different situations. Types and contexts of activities are variable and change with age during childhood and adolescence. Activities of children aged 6 to 9 years are largely anaerobic (as in non sustained activities or games such as tag ), and they help the child learn basic and more specialized motor skills. As youth move into the pubertal transition (about age 10 14 years, earlier in girls than in boys), these skills are incorporated into a variety of individual and group activities and many organized sports. Mature structure and function are approached or attained in late adolescence (age 15 18 years), so that physical activity programs can be more structured. Physical activity has not only physical benefits. It also has a very big impact on social emotional and cognitive aspects of child s live. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The development of a physically active lifestyle is a goal for all children. Traditional team and competitive sports may promote healthy activity for selected youth. Individual sports, noncompetitive sports, lifetime sports, and recreational activities expand the opportunity for activity to everyone. The opportunity to be active on a regular basis, as well as the enjoyment and competence gained from activity, may increase the chances that a physically active lifestyle will be adopted. • 40. The Palette Of King Narmer The Palette of King Narmer Stretching across ten countries and spanning over four thousand miles, the Nile River became the heart of Egyptian civilization. The lower (northern) Nile overflowed its banks several months out of the year before the creation of the Aswan High Dam in 1970. When the floodwaters receded, they left a new layer of rich silt behind, making the surrounding valley and delta a fertile and desirable habitat. As early as 8000 BCE, the people who inhabited the valley of the world s longest river became relatively sedentary and in 5000 BCE they adopted the agricultural village life commonly associated with Neolithic culture. Throughout the Predynastic period, the North African climate was immensely dry. In order to combat this problem, many villages formed alliances that worked to control the river s flow. Over time, these small federations of villages conquered and absorbed other weaker ones. As communities grew into chiefdoms, they began to advance rapidly toward refined civilization shortly after 3600 BCE. Egypt became a consolidated state at the beginning the Early Dynastic Period in 3000 BCE. According to legend, following creation, Upper Egypt in the south and Lower Egypt in the north were both unified under Menes. Originally a powerful ruler from Upper Egypt, Menes conquered Lower Egypt and became the first ruler to preside over a unified Egypt. The political party system in our society today is separated between the Democrats and the Republicans. Although political parties do possess uncertainties their advantages outweigh their drawbacks in America. The United States of America is made up of two basic political parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Numerous Americans oppose the political party system, because of their potential to negatively hinder our society. They disagree with the system so much that they would rather see the political party system abolished than see it reformed. I understand fully that the political party system has their issues. For instance, our political party system does not offer equality for all parties. In our society, our party system operates under the two party system, if we had three or more parties running they would not have a fair chance. We only examine are two leading political parties in our ballots. The system lacks equality which can be extremely unsetting to voters who support the less popular parties. We are known as the land of equal opportunity, yet we contradict ourselves. In addition, political parties can be selfish and they do not always focus on what is beneficial to our nation as a whole. Political parties will focus on their interest and their end goals that will only benefit them. The list goes on but I do not believe abolishing the party system is the answer. Abolishing the political party system would be to extreme, but I do believe the party system needs to be reformed. Instead of parties receiving funds from wealthy corporations there should be ...
