 Computer software is a set of instructions telling the
computer hardware what to do.
 The computer hardware reads the instructions sequentially
and performs the required operations.
 Making computer software is called “Software Development”.
 Software development requires writing a computer program
using one of the known programming languages like C, C++,
Visual Basic, Java, or C# (pronounced C-Sharp).
 The problem is how to organize these simple operations
in order to provide a more sophisticated operation.

 Flowcharts are used to illustrate data,
information, and workflow.
 Flowcharts graphically illustrate the sequence in
which operations are to be performed by the
interconnection of specialized symbols with flow
lines.
 Each symbol indicates the type of operation to
be performed.
