2. Meaning:
• Introductory skill is a first skill to practice. This is the skill where a
student teacher makes an attempt to create interest in teaching his class.
• It involves establishing rapports with the learners, promoting their
attentions and exposing them to essential contents.
• It is concerned with the lesson initiation.
• It may be defined as : “Proficiency in the use of verbal and non verbal
behaviour, teaching aids and appropriate techniques for making pupils
to realize the need of studying the lesson”.

3. Objectives of introducing a skill
• To prepare students mentally for learning.
• To focus the attention of students towards the content.
• To know about the previous knowledge.
• To create curiosity for new subject.
• To establish a link between what they know and what they going to
learn.

4. Things to remember:
• Do not start your teaching directly.
• Try to be casual to them ( maintain formality). This can be done by
asking “ HOW ARE YOU”/ “HAD YOUR BREAK FAST”.
• Write the date on the top left corner, name of the subject in the
middle and standard on the right corner of the board.
• Do not tell the title of the unit. (Chapter)

4. How many girls and boys are there? 18 girls and 22 boys are there.
5. Can you name this fruit? This is an apple.
6. How many apple I have ? 1 apple. [Write 1 on the blackboard]
7. If I cut this apple into 4 parts?
How many pieces I’ll have? Write 4 down to 1 on the board.
8. How we read (¼ ) this ? We read it as One by 4.
