• The main effort was to make the content accessible and readable by the
machines.
• It is an extension of WWW.
• It helped humans and machines to work together.
• It developed new technologies and languages to express the web data .
• It is the next step in the web evolution.
• The Semantic Web is a mesh of information linked up in such a
way, as to be easily processable by machines on a global scale.
• “Expressing meaning” is the main task of the Semantic Web.
• That allows people to share content beyond the boundaries of web
sites and applications.

Berners-Lee hopes that eventually computers will

The Semantic Web is a mesh of information
linked up in such a way, as to be easily
processable by machines on a global scale.
It is the new-generation Web that makes it
possible to express information in a precise,
machine interpretable form, ready for software
agents to process, share, and reuse it, as well as
to understand what the terms describing the data
mean.
