The Hardest Thing In Sport Essay
To some college students playing college sports is everything including the reason why some even
attend college. There are a lot of different sports students can play in college but there is none harder
than baseball... or is it softball? There has been a long time debate about which sport is harder. Is
hitting a baseball the hardest thing to do in sports or is hitting a fast pitch softball the hardest thing in
sports to do? Ted Williams the famous baseball player once said the toughest thing in sports is hitting
a round ball with a round bat . He was definitely right about that, but I think he could have been a little
more precise with his statement. The toughest thing in sports is to hit a round ball with a round bat,
when the round ball is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a baseball is pitched there is a downward arc due to the throwing motion of the pitcher. When a
softball is thrown hard it can rise up as it approaches the plate, which makes it more difficult to hit.
According to the online publication Sports Engineering, titled Modeling Pitch Trajectories in Fast
Pitch Softball , there are scientific formulas that determine pitch trajectories, lift, drag, and other pitch
factors which, in turn, could affect the strategies used in each game that a player needs to be
successful. To investigate these and other aspects of fastpitch softball pitches, a model based on
Newton s equation is presented that simulates their motion. By assuming reasonable values for the
angle, speed and height off the ground of a softball as it leaves the pitcher s hand, we compute and
display the trajectories of rise balls, drop balls and curve balls. The model is then used to predict an
upper bound on the lift coefficient of a fastpitch softball and show that this bound agrees with
experimental data. The model also predicts the launch angles necessary for various pitches to pass
through the strike zone, as well as a value of the drag coefficient which is consistent with experimental
data. Using the time analysis of a batter s swing presented by Adair, we then discuss when a given
pitch has a good chance of fooling a batter into starting her swing before she can accurately assess the
trajectory

Differences Between Domesticated And Wild Animals
There are notable differences between domesticated and wild animals. They are more obvious when
compared between different breeds of the same species. For most domesticated species, the variations
within an organism are usually descended from a single wild species. Variation arises from natural
selection, and refers to variation both within and between species. Darwin did not believe that all
domesticated species arises from a common wild ancestor, however, modern genetics disproves this.
Research shows that all domesticated dogs arise from their wild ancestor, the wolves. Similar trends
are found in other domesticated animals like cats, horses, cows, and birds. Specifically, I will be
analyzing the trends in domestication of fowl and poultry. Fowl includes two orders of birds: landfowl
(chicken, quail, pheasant) and waterfowl (duck, goose, swan). Fowl typically refers to wild birds.
Poultry indicates birds that are domesticated and raised for meat or eggs. By analyzing the behavior,
evolution species variation, and domestication of birds, we can determine the traits selected for
different species. Through domestication, many breeds of birds have evolved with alterations that
could be seen as adaptations to the environment.
Behavior of Wild Fowl It is widely known that the domestication of an organism involves numerous
changes: genetically, physically, socially, mentally. An interesting occurrence to note is reduction in
brain size from wild to domestic animals. As

To His Excellency General Washington By Phillis Wheatley
In the poem To His Excellency General Washington the author Phillis Wheatley incorporates many
themes to show the strength the new nation, America, actually has. Wheatley uses these themes to
incorporate them into a bigger idea. He uses themes of freedom, grand hero and divine rights. All of
these come together to help mold the view of George Washington as the father of our country. By
having all these themes molded into the poem based on Washington builded up to a view that he is a
patriot and a leader. All these themes are built together with freedom as the building block that helps
connect the other themes. The themes of freedom, heroism, and divine rights all build a view that
makes Washington be viewed like a saint. The theme

Role Of Community In Mim Udovich s A Secret Society Of The...
Community
A community is a group of people interacting in a meaningful way with regard to something they
share in common. It used to be that a community, in order to function as a group and interact, had to
be in the same geographic location or at least within driving distance. Since the internet has now
become so widely available we find that people with common interests and goals are reaching across
vast distances to interact with each other. There is even language translation software available that
can translate other languages into one s own. These have begun to break down previous barriers such
as distance and language but even cultural barriers may become a thing of the past. In Mim Udovich s
A Secret Society of the Starving, the author describes a community that meets online to share feelings
about their eating disorders. In Shari Caudron s Befriending Barbie, the author writes of her
experience at a Barbie convention. Not only are online communities functioning in almost every way
as a cohesive group, but they have the potential to transcend distance, language and ... Show more

Is Gaming A Sport
The Cambridge University defines a sport as a game, competition, or similar activity, done for
enjoyment or as a job that takes physical effort and skill and is played or done by following particular
rules. By this definition, would you consider professional gaming a sport? Do all sports have to have
physical movement? People often judge professional gaming because it seems like it takes no physical
effort other than hand eye coordination. However, they don t realize the stress and mental state, like
that of an athlete, that is needed to perform at a high level. There are actually more similarities than
you might think.
If Chess is considered a sport based on the facts that it requires strategy and competition, aren t video
games based on the same principles? Like Chess, you have to practice and you have to anticipate
moves of your opponent. However, unlike other sports, gaming is not focused on just one activity but
numerous types of games with different styles and methods to each game. There is more physical
activity and training involved in gaming then in chess. Agility and hand eye coordination is very
important to gamers and must be practiced like any other athlete that trains in his/her sport. ... Show

Business Ethics and the 1989 Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Essay
Ethics are very important in the business world and to the general public. Ethics is defined as a system
of moral principles or the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions
or a particular group. Using a moral compass should be a requirement for every CEO and executive.
Any person who will have some impact on society needs to understand the difference between right
and wrong. Since businesses touch such a large segment of our society, codes of ethics must be
established and followed to protect the general public. In the following pages we will discuss the 1989
Exxon Valdez oil spill disaster and examine how it relates to (1) the state of business ethics since
2000, (2) examples of the classic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

will be given; while also recognizing the challenges the journalist face in different field of media.
Using this guide has allowed the researchers to gain a great deal of information about Exxon and their
relationship with public relations.
Business ethics since the beginning of this decade has been slowly eroding; if we are to believe what
we see and hear in the media. Several times a day, one can view some derogatory piece of information
concerning a business. However, it must also be considered that these companies are contributing to
that stigma. There have been a variety of companies and individuals who have figured prominently in
the media concerning their unethical behavior.
Ethics is defined as a system of moral principles or the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a
particular class of human actions or a particular group. Ethics and values are sometimes used
interchangeably, but the main goal is to make sure that one is using a moral compass to help guide in
the decision making process. One individual who figures prominently when it comes to ethics is the
veritable Martha Stewart. Ms. Stewart had to step down from her own company because of

Technology On Children And Children In Hanna Rosin s The...
Have you ever thought about what affects technology actually has on a growing child s mind? In
Hanna Rosin s, The Touch Screen Generation, she suggests that touch screens are not inherently bad
for kids. Many people think that if children spend too much time on electronic devices such as, iPad,
cell phones and tablets, it will take tolls on the child s physical and mental growth and development.
There are also many that believe that technology is very beneficial to the growth and development of
children. There are also many people that believe technology is misshaping and effecting family
structure and function. Many people also believe that technology is disintegrating the core values of
families. There are so many children who are so technologically inclined, that they will always rely on
the technology being available. There are many pros and cons to children spending an abundant
amount of time on technology. There are many different opinions about how technology affects
children and families. Some parents rely heavily on technology to entertain children while they need
to keep their children occupied. Entertainment technology (TV, Internet, video games, iPads, and cell
phones) has advanced so rapidly, that families have scarcely noticed the significant impact and
changes to their family structure and lifestyles. (The Impact of Technology on the Developing Child)
There are so many children that have become so engulfed in electronics because that is all they have
grown up with to keep them entertained. A 2010 Kaiser Foundation study showed that elementary
aged children use on average 7.5 hours per day of entertainment technology, 75 percent of these
children have TV s in their bedrooms, and 50 percent of North American homes have the TV on all
day. (The Impact of Technology on the Developing Child) Some people believe that old fashion is the
way things should be. Some believe that technology is taking away the things that used to be an
everyday thing in most households. The fracturing of households is solely to blame on technology.
Gone is dining room table conversation, replaced by the big screen and take out. (The Impact of

The Impact Of Computer Animation On The Entertainment...
EE Computer Animation From the very beginning of animation, artists created images on paper of two
dimensional animated characters. As time progressed, computers became an integral part of people s
lives. Technological advancements have allowed animators to use programs online that would turn a
two dimensional animated character or object into a three dimensional format. This made it easier for
animators to create whatever they wanted. Without the hassle of paper, these people had a variety of
tools to aid their creation. The impact of computer animation on the various entertainment industries
can be seen from the evolution through the years dealing with television and movies. The impact of
computer animation of the entertainment industry is shown through the evolution of movies dating
back from 1908 to movies today involving Computer Generated Images (CGI) programs, such as
Pixar Animation, through the use of various software programs, special props, and scenery. Animation
production created in modern day, such as video games, movies, computer software applications, and
television shows, requires various processes. Through the use of multiple computer assisted programs,
such as Autodesk Maya, animated visual effects are created more efficiently concerning more complex
3D models then from past archaic methods. Maya is an example of a software program that has been
utilized with high class companies, such as Walt Disney, in creating such films as in Dinosaur . This

Spy In Hamlet
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (1.4.100). Marcellus, a guard in the opening acts of The
Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, states this short but powerful line to
a fellow guard on the castle ramparts. Marcellus s conversation foreshadows the events to come in the
rest of the play and drives its characters into situations that impact more than just themselves in
multiple instances. Throughout the play Shakespeare reveals what s truly rotten ; Murder, spy plots,
and incestuous relationships within the noble class plague the small and fragile country of Denmark
and forces the rotten characters to a surprising death.

The first major spy plot revealed would be that of hamlet on Claudius. After hearing the news from his
fathers ghost hamlet set out to make sure that what he heard was true, so he set up a trap to make sure
Claudius was in fact guilty. This trap required Hamlet to put on an antic disposition. In a conversation
to Horatio he exclaims ...How strange or odd soe er I bear myself, As I perchance hereafter shall think
meet, To put an antic disposition on... (1.5.171 173). By this Hamlet means to say that he may need to
act a little crazy in order to achieve his revenge. Shortly thereafter he does in fact put on his antic
disposition and his trap succeeds in catching Claudius s guilt and by doing so forces hamlet to kill
Claudius in the near future. However his craziness startles his mother and stepfather who then use two
of his school friends (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern) to spy on him. After the first spy plot on hamlet
fails, Polonius convinces the king to use Ophelia as bait to spy on Hamlet. This second interaction
causes Hamlet to dislike Ophelia and upset her. Out of desperation Polonius hides in Gertrude s
chambers as she and Hamlet talk. During the conversation Hamlet gets angered and starts to threaten
his mother. Polonius fearing for Gertrude s life lets out a scream, which gives his hiding spot up.
Hamlet thinking he s killing Claudius stabs through the curtain and kills Polonius. Looking at these
events with a broader perspective a reader can see how these spy plots grew to be to out of hand and

Frankenstein Quotes About Victor s Downfall
Throughout the entire of the novel, Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows that Frankenstein s demise is a
direct result of his own decisions. Mary displays this through three vivid actions that Victor did; the
creation of the creature, the death of his Brother and trial of Justine, and the ignorance Victor had that
led to the murder of Victor s wife, Elizabeth. Victor was a very smart student with an immense drive
to accomplish whatever he told himself he was going to accomplish. With Victor s early studying in
college, Victor describes his situation when studying Victor s cheeks had grown pale with study, and
my person had become emaciated with confinement. (Shelley 40), Showing Victor relied so heavily on

42) Victor felt this way when he was in the midst of the creation of his monster. Victor knows that his
decisions were hindering his body and his ruining his limited time that Victor has on this Earth. The
hindering of someone s body and wasting of time is going to be a direct result of Victor s demise. The
actual creation of the monster also took a toll on Victor; Victor describes the monster by saying No
moral could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not
be so hideous as that wretch (Shelley 44) Another example of Victor s description of the creation of
the monster the night before I trembled exclusively; I could not endure to think of, and far less to
allude to, the occurrences of the preceding night (Shelley 46) Even the next day, after the monster was
created, Victor still was hurt by the creation of the monster which then led to Victor being very sick,
only to be nursed back to health by Clerval. All of this could have been avoided by Victor if he would
have not of created the monster. But because Victor decided to create the monster, the consequences of
these actions were the ultimate demise of Victor with the person responsible for the demise being

Supply Chain 2
Supply Chain Management plays a vital role in our hospitals today. With the growing cost of
healthcare and new technologies, it is vital for hospitals to run as efficiently as possible and without
jeopardizing care. To the materials manager and to the financial minds of a hospital the area of supply
chain is a tedius task at best, the kind of planning, strategizing and measuring that seldom goes
recognized and rewarded. The work involved with inventory control fits tightly within that
description.

Until that time comes, if ever, there needs to be another solution.
There is no quick fix, but I will start with a list of criteria that will help us better control I Cares
inventory, understand what is being spent, where it is being spent and areas where we can cut costs on
supplys, which according to ASCET (Achieving Supply Chain Excellence through Technology) makes
up between 25 and 30% of a hospitals operating costs.
1. Understand your spend. Knowing exactly what you are keeping in inventory, where it comes from,
and how it s received, handled and stored is critical to inventory reduction efforts. There are many
programs that can gather and track this data, but technology is an enabler not a solution. There must
still be business processes in place to analyze this data to make it worthwhile.
2. Rationalize SKUs. This requires data about what SKUs are being used, by whom, and for what.
This is the biggest challenge, but armed with this information, you ll be able to impact inventory
levels, SKU proliferation, leverage substitutes and alternates or even the need to stock certain
materials at all.
3. Leverage key strategic partners/distributors for information and just in time services which will
substitute inventory stockpiles. This means you get only what you need. And, should you need more
of a product on occasion, you know exactly where to find it.

How Are Hector And Achilles Alike
Achilles and Hector are similar in a few ways but are different in many more. Both men are renowned
warriors and some of the best fighters for their sides. And unfortunately, both men are fated to die.
Both men are human, although only barely in Achilles s case, who can only be wounded if hit in a
small spot on his heel. But despite these few similarities, Achilles and Hector are more different than
they are alike. Achilles let s himself be ruled by his emotions while Hector has a more steady and calm
temperament. Hector has a wife and a son and is capable of showing love towards others, Achilles on
the other hand only speaks to his mother when he needs something: revenge, or armor. One drastic
difference between the two men is an unfortunate character flaw that Achilles portrays constantly:
anger. In fact the first sentence of the Iliad clearly states that it is the story of Achilles s anger. Sing,
goddess, the anger of Peleus son Achilles and it s devastation. (I, 1 2) Throughout the story you
continuously see the products of his rage. He refuses to fight for Agamemnon because of the stealing
of Breisis, and instead invokes the power of Zeus so that the Greeks will lose against the Trojans until
his (Achilles s) honor has been restored. If perhaps he (Zeus) might be willing to help the Trojans, and
pin the Achaians against the ships and the water, dying, so that thus they may all have profit of their
own king, that Atreus son wide ruling Agamemnon may recognize

It Doesn t Matter Where You Came From, But It Matters Where You re Going. Unknown. This quote

this quote as, your culture doesn t have to form the way you re gonna be in life. Culture is something
that defines who we are, and what we ve came from. But does culture always have a say in what you
do in your life? I believe that culture sometimes influences someone views on others and the world. In

New England Colonies Vs Southern Colonies Essay
Although each of the four colonies is distinct, I think no two are more different than the New England
and Southern Colonies. Each colony developed differently based in large part by the first people to
settle them. Those in the north came to America for religious reasons were those in the south were
more interested in economic interests. Both colonies grew and thrived in unique ways and helped
shape our country to be what it is today.
The first true goal of New England colonists was religious. They were tired of the ceremonial Church
of England so Pilgrims and Puritans worked to recreate society the way they thought god wanted.
After Henry VIII broke with the Catholic Church of Rome the new church was created and approved
by English Parliament. England was divided between English Catholics and the New Church
(Anglicans) and many battles ensued. Queen Elizabeth brought an end to the bloodshed but many
were still angry. Pilgrims and Puritans believed in the teachings of John Calvin who taught that neither
the Catholic or Anglican churches followed god s will. After the demise of Queen Elizabeth the Stuart

The Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
There is much controversy on the subject of video games. One of the most controversial issues
regarding video games is violence in video games, and the alleged connection with child behavior.
There are many people, especially parents, who blame video games for their children s violent and
aggressive behavior. There are some who do not believe there is a connection with video games, and
particular child behavioral issues. There are studies that prove one side, disprove one side, and it is
very difficult to get accurate facts when a study is done on behavior. Every person is different, so it is
hard to get reliable data. Most people believe that it is a simple cause and effect scenario. They think
that the child plays a violent video game, and then then suddenly start to exhibit violent and
aggressive behavior. In most cases, this is correct. Children from birth until approximately 18 21 are in
a developmental stage. Both their brain and their thoughts are not fully formed. This is why cigarettes
and tobacco are illegal until you are 18, and alcohol and recently marijuana are legal once you are 21.
Your brain is not fully developed, and you can damage your brain with these things, as it is still
growing and forming. This applies to video games and behavior as well. When kids are young, they re
still learning how to act. If your 10 year old is outside playing, or hanging out with people and talking
to them, they will likely grow up socially active, and with an average temperament. If they just have
violent video games, they won t know any different, and have no alternate perspective of what is
normal. So who s fault is it? Is it the schools? No, the school s job is to educate the kids, not monitor
what they do at home. Is it the video game creators? Wrong again, there will be violence elsewhere,
whether it be video games, movies, news, and even reality. So who s fault is it? Perhaps it is the parent
who just bought their ten year old son a very bloody game about killing people. Many parents will buy
a game for their child, then complain that it made their child violent and aggressive. They decide to
blame the game developers instead of taking credit, for they are the ones who bought the game. Video

Examples Of Bad Habits In Relationships
What are Bad Habits in Relationships?
By Mike McTait
Mar 5, 2010
Possibly not everybody has bad habits but definitely the majority of people have some form of bad
habit. The problem is when an individual brings their bad habits into a relationship that creates
problems or conflicts. Although they have got good purposes for making the relationship work,
sometimes the bad habits are so entrenched that it stops them from relating. Below are some of the
many bad habits within a relationship that could cause it to not succeed.
Jealousy
Distrust can frequently plague a lot of fine relationships. Here we aren t talking about when a person
feels jealousy because they have got every reason to believe that their partner is having an affair. The
bad habit of jealousy in a relationship is when, for instance, a boyfriend might at all times believe his
girlfriend is fooling around with other men. A woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people do not take note of their partners wishes as they purely don t listen. One person might be
trying to explain something that is significant to them, and the other will only say, Yes, yes, but they
will not actually hear.
When the partner with the selective hearing bad habit hears something that interests them, rapidly they
are all ears and very much part of the discussion. Evidently this can cause a lot of antagonism and
quickly wear down a relationship.
Dependence
Certain people who are in long relationships can exploit the bad habit of relying on their partner for
everything. This reliance on another person could cause them to become powerless to take care of
themselves. Frequently they won t take any interest with their job because they believe that it doesn t
matter a whole lot as they are looked after by their partner. This sort of bad habit is particularly
harmful as it might take over every aspect of their

Calpurnia Julius Caesar
At the end of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, Antony refers to Brutus by saying, This was the
noblest Roman of them all . I do not think that Brutus was the noblest character in the play. Quite
frankly, I would think that Calpurnia Caesar, the 3rd and Last wife of Julius would be. She is a caring
and loving and humble wife that has been there for Caesar up to his time of death. You really can not
get more noble than that. Calpurnia is always by his side with him even when she is not physically
with him and always looking out for his best interest even when he does not look after his best interest
for himself.
In the play Calpurnia had a dream/vision that a statue of Caesar was flowing with blood at the same
time, that many Romans were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her intentions are noble and deep from her heart and with only the best of intentions. She is frighten
because of the Ides of March.Throughout the story Calpurnia is a strong and intellectual woman. She
strongly believes that women are as equals to men. If she was in a different time she would have
probably started the woman equality movement and fought for them to have rights. She truly believes
that anything a man can do a women can do as well, or even better. Most of the time she, with nobelist
of intentions, is at the side of Julius Caesar her husband and love.. She has a very strong will power
and is fully supportive of her husband a true wife of the Commander of the Roman army and spouse to
the future king of Rome, had her husband lived to see it happen.
One weakness of her s and it is not really a true weakness is that she loves Julius Caesar too much.
Love can be a blessing but can also be a curse. For example, she is willing to do anything, even get
down on her knees and beg for Julius to stay at home. If Julius leaves her side she is a very quiet and
depressed person. Him leaving her side on the day of her dream makes her very uncomfortable.
Calpurnia felt that she should have tried harder to make him stay. She is in extreme agony when he

Why William Won The Battle Of Hastings
The date 1066 is etched into the brains of the English as it was the day their country changed forever...
The scene is Battle, a field just outside of the city of Hastings, a raging clash between William the
Conqueror and Harold Godwinson had begun and England s future would depend on the victor. After
endless fighting William ended up victorious, but why? The battle of Hastings was fought on 14th
October 1066 on Senlac hill and the conflict started when King Edward died and left no heir to inherit
the crown, which left 3 men who were all claiming to be the next King of England. The main points
being discussed will be talking about why William won the battle of Hastings, how he was more lucky
and had the advantage over Harold in the battle of Hastings and how William was more skilful and
better prepared than Harold in the battle of Hastings. While William was very skilful at Hastings

This paragraph will be giving a brief explanation to why William won. Williams s knowledge of war
combined with his lucky timing allowed William to successfully invade Harold and take England for
himself. Harold s loss was due to many reasons, some of these reasons include that Harold s army had
recently fought Haralds and were exhausted and weakened in numbers. In addition, it is estimated that
Williams s army consisted of 5000 infantry and 3000 knights, which stomped on Harold s 2500
houscarls and 6000 members of the fyrd (markedbyteachers , 2015).This meant that William had a
well trained and experienced army and Harold only had inexperienced slaves on his side. This backs
up my point that William was luckier but also brings up the idea that William was better

Eliminating the Price Effect of an Index Automatically...
By the attempt to eliminate the price effect from an index fund, the fundamental index managers
change the set up of the index in such a way that it automatically changes the basic characteristics of
the index. As shown in exhibit 10 of the Research Affiliate case, fundamental indices usually not only
deal with a higher turnover ratio but also with a higher net expense ratio, for implementing the
fundamental strategy in reality seems to go hand in hand with higher costs.
Looking at commonly used multiples in exhibit 11, we see no surprises. While the P/E ratio for the
RAFI index is only slightly smaller compared to the Russell 1000 index, the Price to Book/Cash
Flow/Sales ratio is fundamentally lower in all categories for the RAFI index. More interesting is the
fact that the RAFI index is composed of companies with an on average lower market capitalization as
well as a higher leverage ratio, which might be a hint that the RAFI is also taking on more risk to
produce the excess returns. Even though Research Affiliates uses several methods to eliminate a bias
towards a specific sector/type of company, research shows that fundamental indices are clearly more
exposed to value and small stocks, which is further illustrated in exhibits 12 14.
Looking at exhibits 11 13 we directly observe RAFI s strong exposure towards financial institutions.
Citigroup and Bank of America alone account for roughly 15% of the index while Citigroup is not
even found within the 10 largest

Human Rights, Democracy, And Peace
In a few decades, the relationship between the environment, resources, and conflict may seem almost
as obvious as the connection we see today between human rights, democracy, and peace (Nobel Peace
Prize Medalist Maathai 2004). TransCanada, a Canadian company, has high hopes of beginning to
build an oil pipeline that would stretch close to 2,000 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast of
Texas. With the approval of construction, the pipeline, known as the Keystone XL, would carry one of
the world s filthiest fuels; tar sand oil. Tar sands oil alone has levels of carbon dioxide emissions that
are three to four times higher than those of conventional oil, due to more energy intensive removal and
refining processes (Friends of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The U.S. uses nearly 400 million gallons of oil every day moving people in automobiles, goods on
freight trucks, air travel, also rail and transit. Cars and everyday trucks use nine million barrels of oil
per day alone (Sierra Club Foundation). Oil poses major environmental problems, and the world s
heavy reliance on it for transportation makes it difficult to reduce consumption. Spilled oil can harm
living things because its chemical components are poisonous. This can affect organisms both from
internal exposure to oil through ingestion or inhalation and from external exposure through skin and
eye irritation. Oil can also smother some small species of fish or invertebrates and coat feathers and
fur, reducing birds and mammals ability to maintain their body temperatures. The short term threat
from heavy oils, like tar sand oil, comes from their ability to smother organisms whereas over the long
term, some long lasting health effects like tumors may result in some organisms (Office of Response
and Restoration). If animals like birds and otters become drenched in heavy oil, they lose the ability to
keep themselves warm and eventually die. The Keystone XL supporters exhaust the idea that
constructing of the Keystone will create thousands of jobs. While that is partially true, the numbers are
exaggerated and unemployment will only raise half of what supporters

Case: Wilkerson Company
In the case, we have review the allocation of overhead by using Traditional Cost Accounting (TCA)
and Activity Based Costing (ABC) in a manufacturing company named Wilkerson. Through the case
study, I have learnt the importance of Cost Accounting System, the principles of TCA and ABC, the
advantages and disadvantage of ABC, the practical use of ABC and cost reduction using ABC.
1. Importance of Cost Accounting System.
Through the case study, I learnt that a proper Cost Accounting System is very important in a company.
Without the accurate system, a company is unable to maximize the profit from the product sold. The
product price might be charged too high (over priced) or too low (under priced). All these will ...

There are few advantages and disadvantage that I have learnt in the case study as below:
Advantage: ABC accuracy
ABC is more accurate in the cost accounting compare to TCA. With the accurate cost allocation, the
company can gain more advantage in price competition in the market.
Advantage: Break down of cost by activities
During the process of ABC, activities are identified and break down with individual cost. The break
down is very useful to the company to strategies the cost reduction since it will show the largest cost
contributor from the operation.
Disadvantage: Cost to have ABC
The ABC need an start up investment in term of cost and resources in collecting data for the analysis
hence there is a cost for the implementation of this method.
4. Practical use of ABC
During the study, I have practiced to calculate the indirect cost with ABC method on each cost driver
for different products. From this, I understand that the indirect cost for different product is distributed
in different ratio. For example, the cost of machining is contributing almost 75% in producing valve
but it only contributing 10% for flow controller. With the info, a company can eventually calculate the
more accurate allocation of indirect with respect to different product and it will help the company to
set the selling price more precisely and maximize the profit.
5. Cost reduction using ABC

Essay on The Evil Character Medea in Euripides Medea
The Evil Character Medea in Euripides Medea
Euripides created a two headed character in this classical tragedy. Medea begins her marriage as the
ideal loving wife who sacrificed much for her husband s safety. At the peak of the reading, she
becomes a murderous villain that demands respect and even some sympathy. By the end, the husband
and wife are left devoid of love and purpose as the tragedy closes.
In Medea, a woman betrays her homeland because of her love for a man. Jason is the husband that she
ferociously loves and makes sacrifices for. They have two children together: Antigone and Ismeme. In
Jason s quest for the golden fleece, Medea assists him in multiple ways. One of the things she does to

Once she learns that Jason has married another woman, Medea s personality turns completely around.
The strong loving wife turns into a barbarian huntress in search of revenge. After plotting and
changing the course of her revenge a few times, she perpetrates an attack that will certainly kill the
new bride. Her method is focused on the woman, but it may or may not affect others around her target.
Medea knows that the poisoned dress and head adornment will be lethal to Jason s bride, but she
cannot possibly know what will come of Jason, their children, or the king. Her rage knows no bounds
and she sends Antigone and Ismene on with the poisoned gifts. Weigel describes the revenge of Medea
in his critique of the writing: Jason becomes entangled with a force that crushes his dignity and
detachment, that tears his successes to tatters. At the end he is in exactly the same position as Medea.
Both are bereaved of mate, children, and friends. Both are free to grow old without comfort. And both
are utterly empty inside, except that Jason is now filled with the same burning hatred that possessed
Medea (Weigel 1391).
Upon their return, she ruthlessly kills the children and retains their bodies. She hates her husband so
strongly that she will not permit him to bury them. Even the image of her chariot seethes hate and
revenge. The sun god s dragons on top of the house in the end of the tragedy paint

The Influence Of Imperialism In American Imperialism
In the 1890s some Americans were eager to expand. Post Civil War the U.S. was going through a time
where they thought that they were lagging behind other nations in terms of expansionism. America felt
that they were lacking what they needed in order to become a powerhouse. Many Americans, like
Theodore Roosevelt or Alfred Thayer Mahan, were imperialists who wanted to acquire land/territories
for the U.S. The United States sought to find their identity as a nation in the world. American Identity
to imperialists can be defined as patriotism, military power, and dominance/hegemony. This was
controversial because some Americans were anti imperialists who did not believe in expansionism, but
in defending the Constitution. This brought about both supporters and opponents of imperialism
during the Spanish American War. Manifest Destiny is defined as the 19th century belief that
expansion of the U.S. throughout the American continents were both justified and inevitable. This God
given right fueled western settlement and imperialistic belief. Imperialist Senator Albert Beveridge,
September 1898, made a speech that stated the flag of liberty will circle the globe...benighted peoples
will know the voice of liberty is speaking...civilization is dawning. This demonstrates the belief of
expanding to territories around the globe. Charles Denby wrote a forum in November 1898 titled Shall
we keep the Phillipines. In the Forum, Denby is talking about the epoch known as the Battle

Culture In The Nacirema
I believe culture is the attitudes and feelings a group of people share. Culture can include practices
like rituals and customs like religion. It is how you eat, drink, and speak. Culture can be either tacit or
explicit. Tacit is very much like an unspoken behavior, it is something people lack words for. Explicit
culture can be spoken or written. No matter what category culture falls into it truly makes us different
from one another. It is everywhere shaping people all around the world every day. The Nacirema May
sound like strange a tribe, but if you read very closely you will notice they are not. Nacirema is
American spelled backwards and latipso is ospital backwards which almost spells hospital. In this
passage the American people are really the ones who are being talked about. All the rituals that are
spoken of describe our everyday life. Bathrooms are described as shrines and medicine cabinets as
charm boxes. Doctors are referred to as medicine men and dentists to holy mouth men as they rid the
mouth of evils. The story of the Nacirema really does make a good point about out how we have a
ridiculous amount of medications, and we take unnecessary trips to the hospital too often. Miner, the
author is trying to illustrate the obsessions of the American people like our obsession with self image

Civil Disobedience Is Not Safe For The People Living...
When is an act of civil disobedience just or unjust? Or better yet, what is a just act of civil
disobedience? According to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in his Letter from Birmingham Jail, we who
engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the
hidden tension that is already alive. In the case of Greenpeace protestors breaking into Australia s
nuclear plant, their act of civil disobedience is exactly what an act of civil disobedience justly looks
like. Greenpeace had two goals when they decided to break into Lucas Heights. The first goal was to
actively show the world how the lack of security at Lucas Heights put Australia at risk for a terrorist
attack, and wanted to show how nuclear energy is not safe for the people living around the reactor. In
the early hours of December 17, 2001, 46 Greenpeace activists broke into Australia s nuclear site
known as the Lucas Heights nuclear plant. The 46 volunteers split into two groups. Group one entered
the grounds through a fence at the back of the facility, and the second group slipped in through the
gate entrance. According to the activists in group two, there were only two security guards on duty at
the front gate and none were mentioned for the back of the facility. While the groups were on the
grounds, the activists used a four wheel drive vehicle to block the entrance gates of the nuclear site so
they would be able to run on the grounds uninterrupted for as long as

There are two processes that are involved in the bulk transport of large molecules. After these large
particles are packaged in vesicles, if the molecules are to be secreted from the cell, the transport
vesicles fuse with the plasma membrane in a process called exocytosis. James Rothman discovered
that this process is done very precisely as specific protein complexes on the transport vesicles and
specific proteins on the plasma membrane bind together to cause this fusion (1).
When the cell takes in particles from the outside, the cell sinks inward to form a vesicle of materials
from the outside in the same principle that James Rothman identified.
The plasma membrane plays a key role in cell signaling pathways. Local signaling is when local

Islamic Terrorism And Islamic Finance Essay
With its assets estimated to total nearly $1 trillion globally, Islamic finance remains tiny compared to
conventional finance with its tens of trillions of dollars. The market in Islamic bonds, or sukuk, is
believed to total about $50 billion, roughly 1 percent of global bond issuance. In view of the financial
crises which have been affecting the whole world, a solution in the name of Islamic finance could be

will be seeking alternatives, and Islamic finance can seize these new opportunities by offering
standardized Islamic finance products with prudent regulations and supervisory arrangements. The

Industrial Heritage And Its Impact On People s Behavior...
In the dictionary, heritage represents valuable things that have been passed down to descendants. The
behavior of heritage protection is a process of inheritance. Heritage protection not only conserves
precious historical places and objects, but also provides the authentic environments for people to
experience and research history. The valued and diverse heritage can bring a great impact on people s

Industrial heritage, as an essential part of heritage, has become a booming industry in Western
countries. Industrial heritage is the materialized symbol of the development of industrialization in
each country. In 2003, Nizhny Tagil Charter for the Industrial Heritage adopted by The International
Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage. In this charter, the identity of industrial
heritage is confirmed. Industrial heritage not only includes industrial buildings and machinery, but
also contains social activities related to industry.
In China, industrial heritage development is just at the beginning stage. By the year of 2001, the first
industrial heritage was included in the List of National Key Cultural Relics Protection. The protection
of industrial heritage of coal seems to be a new concept. Coal resource is still a very essential energy

  • 2. The Hardest Thing In Sport Essay To some college students playing college sports is everything including the reason why some even attend college. There are a lot of different sports students can play in college but there is none harder than baseball... or is it softball? There has been a long time debate about which sport is harder. Is hitting a baseball the hardest thing to do in sports or is hitting a fast pitch softball the hardest thing in sports to do? Ted Williams the famous baseball player once said the toughest thing in sports is hitting a round ball with a round bat . He was definitely right about that, but I think he could have been a little more precise with his statement. The toughest thing in sports is to hit a round ball with a round bat, when the round ball is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When a baseball is pitched there is a downward arc due to the throwing motion of the pitcher. When a softball is thrown hard it can rise up as it approaches the plate, which makes it more difficult to hit. According to the online publication Sports Engineering, titled Modeling Pitch Trajectories in Fast Pitch Softball , there are scientific formulas that determine pitch trajectories, lift, drag, and other pitch factors which, in turn, could affect the strategies used in each game that a player needs to be successful. To investigate these and other aspects of fastpitch softball pitches, a model based on Newton s equation is presented that simulates their motion. By assuming reasonable values for the angle, speed and height off the ground of a softball as it leaves the pitcher s hand, we compute and display the trajectories of rise balls, drop balls and curve balls. The model is then used to predict an upper bound on the lift coefficient of a fastpitch softball and show that this bound agrees with experimental data. The model also predicts the launch angles necessary for various pitches to pass through the strike zone, as well as a value of the drag coefficient which is consistent with experimental data. Using the time analysis of a batter s swing presented by Adair, we then discuss when a given pitch has a good chance of fooling a batter into starting her swing before she can accurately assess the trajectory ... • 3. Differences Between Domesticated And Wild Animals There are notable differences between domesticated and wild animals. They are more obvious when compared between different breeds of the same species. For most domesticated species, the variations within an organism are usually descended from a single wild species. Variation arises from natural selection, and refers to variation both within and between species. Darwin did not believe that all domesticated species arises from a common wild ancestor, however, modern genetics disproves this. Research shows that all domesticated dogs arise from their wild ancestor, the wolves. Similar trends are found in other domesticated animals like cats, horses, cows, and birds. Specifically, I will be analyzing the trends in domestication of fowl and poultry. Fowl includes two orders of birds: landfowl (chicken, quail, pheasant) and waterfowl (duck, goose, swan). Fowl typically refers to wild birds. Poultry indicates birds that are domesticated and raised for meat or eggs. By analyzing the behavior, evolution species variation, and domestication of birds, we can determine the traits selected for different species. Through domestication, many breeds of birds have evolved with alterations that could be seen as adaptations to the environment. Behavior of Wild Fowl It is widely known that the domestication of an organism involves numerous changes: genetically, physically, socially, mentally. An interesting occurrence to note is reduction in brain size from wild to domestic animals. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. To His Excellency General Washington By Phillis Wheatley In the poem To His Excellency General Washington the author Phillis Wheatley incorporates many themes to show the strength the new nation, America, actually has. Wheatley uses these themes to incorporate them into a bigger idea. He uses themes of freedom, grand hero and divine rights. All of these come together to help mold the view of George Washington as the father of our country. By having all these themes molded into the poem based on Washington builded up to a view that he is a patriot and a leader. All these themes are built together with freedom as the building block that helps connect the other themes. The themes of freedom, heroism, and divine rights all build a view that makes Washington be viewed like a saint. The theme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Role Of Community In Mim Udovich s A Secret Society Of The... Community A community is a group of people interacting in a meaningful way with regard to something they share in common. It used to be that a community, in order to function as a group and interact, had to be in the same geographic location or at least within driving distance. Since the internet has now become so widely available we find that people with common interests and goals are reaching across vast distances to interact with each other. There is even language translation software available that can translate other languages into one s own. These have begun to break down previous barriers such as distance and language but even cultural barriers may become a thing of the past. In Mim Udovich s A Secret Society of the Starving, the author describes a community that meets online to share feelings about their eating disorders. In Shari Caudron s Befriending Barbie, the author writes of her experience at a Barbie convention. Not only are online communities functioning in almost every way as a cohesive group, but they have the potential to transcend distance, language and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Shari is acquainted with some of the other convention women, Debie tells Sharie how the Barbie community has helped her. When her son was killed, her friends didn t know what to say and dropped out of her life. Her friends in the online Barbie community did just the opposite. They encouraged her by sending her letters, care packages, and raising money for charity in her son s name. She tells Sharie, I am so blessed. This is the closest circle of friends I ve ever had (Cauldron 173). Debie s online community was able to offer much more support and compassion than her physical community. This is because the online world lacks the awkwardness of face to face relationships, which in this case, was only amplified by the devastating circumstance as the death of an only ... • 6. Is Gaming A Sport The Cambridge University defines a sport as a game, competition, or similar activity, done for enjoyment or as a job that takes physical effort and skill and is played or done by following particular rules. By this definition, would you consider professional gaming a sport? Do all sports have to have physical movement? People often judge professional gaming because it seems like it takes no physical effort other than hand eye coordination. However, they don t realize the stress and mental state, like that of an athlete, that is needed to perform at a high level. There are actually more similarities than you might think. If Chess is considered a sport based on the facts that it requires strategy and competition, aren t video games based on the same principles? Like Chess, you have to practice and you have to anticipate moves of your opponent. However, unlike other sports, gaming is not focused on just one activity but numerous types of games with different styles and methods to each game. There is more physical activity and training involved in gaming then in chess. Agility and hand eye coordination is very important to gamers and must be practiced like any other athlete that trains in his/her sport. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are so many children who are so technologically inclined, that they will always rely on the technology being available. There are many pros and cons to children spending an abundant amount of time on technology. There are many different opinions about how technology affects children and families. Some parents rely heavily on technology to entertain children while they need to keep their children occupied. Entertainment technology (TV, Internet, video games, iPads, and cell phones) has advanced so rapidly, that families have scarcely noticed the significant impact and changes to their family structure and lifestyles. (The Impact of Technology on the Developing Child) There are so many children that have become so engulfed in electronics because that is all they have grown up with to keep them entertained. A 2010 Kaiser Foundation study showed that elementary aged children use on average 7.5 hours per day of entertainment technology, 75 percent of these children have TV s in their bedrooms, and 50 percent of North American homes have the TV on all day. As time progressed, computers became an integral part of people s lives. Technological advancements have allowed animators to use programs online that would turn a two dimensional animated character or object into a three dimensional format. This made it easier for animators to create whatever they wanted. Without the hassle of paper, these people had a variety of tools to aid their creation. The impact of computer animation on the various entertainment industries can be seen from the evolution through the years dealing with television and movies. The impact of computer animation of the entertainment industry is shown through the evolution of movies dating back from 1908 to movies today involving Computer Generated Images (CGI) programs, such as Pixar Animation, through the use of various software programs, special props, and scenery. Animation production created in modern day, such as video games, movies, computer software applications, and television shows, requires various processes. There are many programs that can gather and track this data, but technology is an enabler not a solution. And unfortunately, both men are fated to die. Both men are human, although only barely in Achilles s case, who can only be wounded if hit in a small spot on his heel. But despite these few similarities, Achilles and Hector are more different than they are alike. Achilles let s himself be ruled by his emotions while Hector has a more steady and calm temperament. Hector has a wife and a son and is capable of showing love towards others, Achilles on the other hand only speaks to his mother when he needs something: revenge, or armor. One drastic difference between the two men is an unfortunate character flaw that Achilles portrays constantly: anger. In fact the first sentence of the Iliad clearly states that it is the story of Achilles s anger. Sing, goddess, the anger of Peleus son Achilles and it s devastation. Each colony developed differently based in large part by the first people to settle them. Those in the north came to America for religious reasons were those in the south were more interested in economic interests. Both colonies grew and thrived in unique ways and helped shape our country to be what it is today. The first true goal of New England colonists was religious. They were tired of the ceremonial Church of England so Pilgrims and Puritans worked to recreate society the way they thought god wanted. After Henry VIII broke with the Catholic Church of Rome the new church was created and approved by English Parliament. England was divided between English Catholics and the New Church (Anglicans) and many battles ensued. Queen Elizabeth brought an end to the bloodshed but many were still angry. • 19. The Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games There is much controversy on the subject of video games. One of the most controversial issues regarding video games is violence in video games, and the alleged connection with child behavior. There are many people, especially parents, who blame video games for their children s violent and aggressive behavior. There are some who do not believe there is a connection with video games, and particular child behavioral issues. There are studies that prove one side, disprove one side, and it is very difficult to get accurate facts when a study is done on behavior. Every person is different, so it is hard to get reliable data. Most people believe that it is a simple cause and effect scenario. They think that the child plays a violent video game, and then then suddenly start to exhibit violent and aggressive behavior. In most cases, this is correct. Children from birth until approximately 18 21 are in a developmental stage. Both their brain and their thoughts are not fully formed. This is why cigarettes and tobacco are illegal until you are 18, and alcohol and recently marijuana are legal once you are 21. Your brain is not fully developed, and you can damage your brain with these things, as it is still growing and forming. This applies to video games and behavior as well. When kids are young, they re still learning how to act. If your 10 year old is outside playing, or hanging out with people and talking to them, they will likely grow up socially active, and with an average temperament. If they just have violent video games, they won t know any different, and have no alternate perspective of what is normal. So who s fault is it? Is it the schools? No, the school s job is to educate the kids, not monitor what they do at home. Is it the video game creators? Wrong again, there will be violence elsewhere, whether it be video games, movies, news, and even reality. So who s fault is it? Perhaps it is the parent who just bought their ten year old son a very bloody game about killing people. Many parents will buy a game for their child, then complain that it made their child violent and aggressive. They decide to blame the game developers instead of taking credit, for they are the ones who bought the game. Video game ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By the attempt to eliminate the price effect from an index fund, the fundamental index managers change the set up of the index in such a way that it automatically changes the basic characteristics of the index. As shown in exhibit 10 of the Research Affiliate case, fundamental indices usually not only deal with a higher turnover ratio but also with a higher net expense ratio, for implementing the fundamental strategy in reality seems to go hand in hand with higher costs. Looking at commonly used multiples in exhibit 11, we see no surprises. While the P/E ratio for the RAFI index is only slightly smaller compared to the Russell 1000 index, the Price to Book/Cash Flow/Sales ratio is fundamentally lower in all categories for the RAFI index. More interesting is the fact that the RAFI index is composed of companies with an on average lower market capitalization as well as a higher leverage ratio, which might be a hint that the RAFI is also taking on more risk to produce the excess returns. Even though Research Affiliates uses several methods to eliminate a bias towards a specific sector/type of company, research shows that fundamental indices are clearly more exposed to value and small stocks, which is further illustrated in exhibits 12 14. • 28. Essay on The Evil Character Medea in Euripides Medea The Evil Character Medea in Euripides Medea Euripides created a two headed character in this classical tragedy. Medea begins her marriage as the ideal loving wife who sacrificed much for her husband s safety. At the peak of the reading, she becomes a murderous villain that demands respect and even some sympathy. By the end, the husband and wife are left devoid of love and purpose as the tragedy closes. In Medea, a woman betrays her homeland because of her love for a man. Jason is the husband that she ferociously loves and makes sacrifices for. They have two children together: Antigone and Ismeme. In Jason s quest for the golden fleece, Medea assists him in multiple ways. One of the things she does to help their cause is bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once she learns that Jason has married another woman, Medea s personality turns completely around. The strong loving wife turns into a barbarian huntress in search of revenge. After plotting and changing the course of her revenge a few times, she perpetrates an attack that will certainly kill the new bride. Her method is focused on the woman, but it may or may not affect others around her target. Medea knows that the poisoned dress and head adornment will be lethal to Jason s bride, but she cannot possibly know what will come of Jason, their children, or the king. Her rage knows no bounds and she sends Antigone and Ismene on with the poisoned gifts. Weigel describes the revenge of Medea in his critique of the writing: Jason becomes entangled with a force that crushes his dignity and detachment, that tears his successes to tatters. At the end he is in exactly the same position as Medea. Both are bereaved of mate, children, and friends. Both are free to grow old without comfort. And both are utterly empty inside, except that Jason is now filled with the same burning hatred that possessed Medea (Weigel 1391). Upon their return, she ruthlessly kills the children and retains their bodies. She hates her husband so strongly that she will not permit him to bury them. Even the image of her chariot seethes hate and revenge. The sun god s dragons on top of the house in the end of the tragedy paint ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Influence Of Imperialism In American Imperialism In the 1890s some Americans were eager to expand. Post Civil War the U.S. was going through a time where they thought that they were lagging behind other nations in terms of expansionism. America felt that they were lacking what they needed in order to become a powerhouse. Many Americans, like Theodore Roosevelt or Alfred Thayer Mahan, were imperialists who wanted to acquire land/territories for the U.S. The United States sought to find their identity as a nation in the world. American Identity to imperialists can be defined as patriotism, military power, and dominance/hegemony. This was controversial because some Americans were anti imperialists who did not believe in expansionism, but in defending the Constitution. This brought about both supporters and opponents of imperialism during the Spanish American War. Manifest Destiny is defined as the 19th century belief that expansion of the U.S. throughout the American continents were both justified and inevitable. This God given right fueled western settlement and imperialistic belief. Imperialist Senator Albert Beveridge, September 1898, made a speech that stated the flag of liberty will circle the globe...benighted peoples will know the voice of liberty is speaking...civilization is dawning. This demonstrates the belief of expanding to territories around the globe. Charles Denby wrote a forum in November 1898 titled Shall we keep the Phillipines. • 32. Culture In The Nacirema I believe culture is the attitudes and feelings a group of people share. Culture can include practices like rituals and customs like religion. It is how you eat, drink, and speak. Culture can be either tacit or explicit. Tacit is very much like an unspoken behavior, it is something people lack words for. Explicit culture can be spoken or written. No matter what category culture falls into it truly makes us different from one another. It is everywhere shaping people all around the world every day. The Nacirema May sound like strange a tribe, but if you read very closely you will notice they are not. Nacirema is American spelled backwards and latipso is ospital backwards which almost spells hospital. In this passage the American people are really the ones who are being talked about. All the rituals that are spoken of describe our everyday life. Bathrooms are described as shrines and medicine cabinets as charm boxes. Doctors are referred to as medicine men and dentists to holy mouth men as they rid the mouth of evils. The story of the Nacirema really does make a good point about out how we have a ridiculous amount of medications, and we take unnecessary trips to the hospital too often. • 33. Civil Disobedience Is Not Safe For The People Living... When is an act of civil disobedience just or unjust? Or better yet, what is a just act of civil disobedience? According to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in his Letter from Birmingham Jail, we who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. In the case of Greenpeace protestors breaking into Australia s nuclear plant, their act of civil disobedience is exactly what an act of civil disobedience justly looks like. Greenpeace had two goals when they decided to break into Lucas Heights. The first goal was to actively show the world how the lack of security at Lucas Heights put Australia at risk for a terrorist attack, and wanted to show how nuclear energy is not safe for the people living around the reactor. In the early hours of December 17, 2001, 46 Greenpeace activists broke into Australia s nuclear site known as the Lucas Heights nuclear plant. The 46 volunteers split into two groups. Group one entered the grounds through a fence at the back of the facility, and the second group slipped in through the gate entrance. According to the activists in group two, there were only two security guards on duty at the front gate and none were mentioned for the back of the facility. While the groups were on the grounds, the activists used a four wheel drive vehicle to block the entrance gates of the nuclear site so they would be able to run on the grounds uninterrupted for as long as ... When the cell takes in particles from the outside, the cell sinks inward to form a vesicle of materials from the outside in the same principle that James Rothman identified.
