The English Language Teachers’ Association of India and Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science are organizing an international seminar on the role of international languages in higher education on February 16, 2018. The seminar will have panel discussions, workshops and presentations from language experts and participants globally on how English, French, German and Japanese are used in higher education. Participants are invited to submit abstracts and papers on the role of these languages. Registration fees range from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1000 and accommodation is available at the university guest house.

ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES
The Department of Languages, under the School of Science and
Humanities was established in 1985. The department integrates all the
branches of Engineering by imparting language skills and communication
skills. Tamil, Hindi, French German and Japanese languages are offered to
the students. Special English short term courses for international students
are conducted. The Department also offers M. Phil. and Ph.D Programmes
in English Language and Literature. The department constitutes a dynamic
team of qualified and experienced faculty with requisite skills and
commitment. The objective of the department is to provide an outcome
based education with focus on imparting a need-based, learner-centred
training in effective communication and people skills and also to prepare
the students in the world of academia, work and real life.
ABOUT ELTAI
The English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI) was
founded on August 7, 1974, by the Late Padmashri S. Natarajan, a noted
educationist. ELTAI brings our “The Journal of English Language Teaching”,
a bi-monthly. It offers consultancy services like Teacher training packages,
organizes bi-monthly meetings on current ELT themes relevant to the
Indian context and hosts annual conferences and regional conferences
on specific areas relevant to the ELT scenario today. Delegates from all
over the world participate, present papers and also conduct workshops.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR
The International Seminar, ‘Role of International Languages in Higher
Education’ is a unique seminar that intends to bring to fore the challenges,
scope, and prominent role of the Languages (English, French, German

5. and Japanese) in Higher Education. This is the first time that the
participants would witness a conglomeration of Foreign Language
teachers, students and research scholars at one venue discussing the
role of four different languages in Higher Education. The seminar will
be interspersed with Panel Discussions, Workshops and Presentations
by experts and selected participants across the globe.
CALL FOR ARTICLES
Proposals are invited from Language teachers, research scholars, and
students for presentations of articles on the Track of the International
Seminar and the themes given.
The abstract (150 words) and the full paper (1000 words) should be in
the MS word format, Times New Roman font, size 12.
The paper should include title in bold, Times New Roman 14, name
of the author(s) with address, email id, contact number; and sent as
email to: ISRIL2018@gmail.com
Important Note: Papers should be written in English based on the
Themes and Track given.
