A one day workshop held on 21st
November 2015 in Haridwar, Gurukul Kangri university at Kanya
Gurukul Campus for M.A. English both first and final year students. Workshop focused on the
development of students’ communication, critical thinking based on technology integrated language
learning approach through the understanding of 4 pillars of English Language, Listening, Speaking,
Reading and Writing. Forty five students of two colleges(Kanya gurukul campus, Haridwar and Prithvi
Raj Chauhan, Bhadrabad) along with Five research scholars of Kanya Gurukul, Haridwar and Eight
faculty members were present during the workshop.
The Inaugural function started around 10:30 am with the introduction given by Dr. Mudita Agnihotri,
HOD EnglishDept. who introducedstudentsand faculty about workshop and presentedbouquetto all
eminent personalities. Dr. Sangita Vidyalankar, Principal and Professor Kanya Gurukul University,
Dehradun welcomedall and thereafterDr. Shalini Vohra describedthe need of technology integrated
English language learning and given overview of the workshop.
In the first half , a lecture delivered by Dr. Shalini Vohra on Technology based approach to enhance
the art of Listening and Reading Skills followed by power point presentation . Dr. Radhika B Pasricha,
delivered a lecture on Technology as a tool for developing fluency using task based approach which
was appreciated by all students she also discussed the Netiquette of Writing.
In the second half after lunch the workshop moved forward towards the practice part based on
Listening and reading activities conducted by Dr. Shalini Vohra . Students enjoyed listening to the
general conversations played using audio player followed by question sessions. All students
participated with full enthusiasm. Dr. Radhika B Pasricha conducted technology integrated task based
activities such as finding directions, Video based emoticons exercise. She motivated students and
stressed upon speaking without hesitation.
The workshop was wrapped up around four in the evening with the final feedback session. (Please
find the report attached) Dr. Sangita Vidyalankar, Principal and Professor Kanya Gurukul University
appreciated and encouraged the efforts put by the Dr. Shalini Vohra and Dr. Radhika B Pasricha in the
smooth conduct of the workshop and showed her willingness for such workshops more in the coming
future which is certainly motivating and encouraging both for the faculty as well as the students.
