The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian services globally. It was established in 1919 in Paris in response to World War I and has grown to include 186 national societies with an operating center in each country. IFRC provides various health, social, disaster management and other services to people in need. It is funded primarily through donations, with the European Union being a major donor. IFRC carries out promotional campaigns using various media and has around 97 million volunteers and staff working to help humanity worldwide.
