This document discusses sources of interference in cellular systems and how it affects system capacity. It covers two main types of interference:
1) Co-channel interference, which occurs between cells using the same frequency and increases as the cluster size decreases. Reducing the co-channel reuse ratio can decrease interference but also reduces capacity.
2) Adjacent channel interference caused by signals leaking into adjacent frequency channels. Careful filtering and channel assignment can minimize this interference.
Power control is also discussed as a way to reduce interference by ensuring mobiles transmit the minimum power needed. This improves signal to interference ratio and solves near-far problems.
