This study explores the integration and impact of interactive media on distance-learning courses, revealing that while such media can enhance interaction, their implementation often fails to align with students' needs and course objectives. Data from students at the British Open University highlight the importance of face-to-face interaction, common issues with self-presentation in online platforms, and suggest seven strategies for effective interaction integration. The findings emphasize the need for course designers to recognize students' communication motivations and to create an engaging and supportive online learning environment.
