This document discusses new literacy tools and projects that can be used in ELL classrooms. It describes how new literacy incorporates multi-modal information like videos and images, which engages students more than traditional text-based literacy. Some recommended new literacy strategies for ELLs include using wikis for collaborative writing, creating webographies to evaluate online sources, writing fanfiction about topics with which students are familiar, and developing digital stories that incorporate multiple media forms to help bridge gaps in English comprehension.
