Content Analysis : The poet tries to depict the toughness and sharpness of the cactus which is
not normally associated with beauty. The poem celebrates the unacknowledged
beauty and power of the marginalised.
Teaching Learning Resources : Text book, internet, picture of the author, picture of cactus.
Perquisites : They might he familiar with the plant cactus. They might be aware of the
peculiarities of that plant. They must have read other poems written by
K. Satchidanandan.

‘Cactus’ is a poem which was duly translated into English
from Malayalam. K. Satchidanandan is one of leading
writers in Kerala, is regarded as one of the pioneers of
new poetry in Malayalam.
