Inhalation is a method of delivering medication directly to the respiratory tract by breathing in vapor or gas. There are two main types: dry inhalations which involve breathing in gases, fumes, or volatile drugs, and moist inhalations which use warm, moist air from a vaporizer. Inhalation therapies are used to relieve symptoms of respiratory conditions like asthma, COPD, and sinusitis by opening nasal passages and loosening mucus. Commonly inhaled drugs include bronchodilators, steroids, anesthetics, and antimicrobials to treat infections.
