The Food Guide Pyramid is a way to show how much and what kinds of food people should eat each day for a healthy diet. It also shows the different food groups and their nutrients. Grains like bread, cereals, rice and pasta form the base and people can eat large amounts of these daily. Vegetables and fruits are the second level and are rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. The third level includes milk, cheese, yogurt, meat, fish, beans, eggs and nuts which provide protein, vitamins and minerals. Oils, fats and sweets are at the top and should only be eaten in small amounts.
