Inflation is a worldwide phenomenon where commodity prices are rising and money values are falling. There are two main types of inflation: demand-pull inflation, which occurs when aggregate demand outpaces supply, and cost-push inflation caused by increases in production costs. Inflation can also be categorized by its speed as creeping, walking, running, or galloping depending on the annual growth rate of prices. In conclusion, inflation reduces consumer purchasing power and equilibrium as consumers must cut back on consumption.

On the basis of cause and nature of inflation, there are two types;
1. Demand full inflation;-Demand-ull inflation is asserted to arise when
aggregate demand in an economy outpaces aggregate supply’’.

2. Cost Push inflation;- inflation caused by substantial increases in the cost
of Production or cost of goods or services where no suitable altemative is
available is called as cost push inflaton’’.

6. On the basis of speed or intensity
• Creeping inflation;- The inflationary rate is less then 2% that means
Prices are increasing gradually.
• Walking inflation;- the inflationary rate of a country is around 5%
little than areeping
• Running inflation;- the rate of growth in prices are more i.e, the
inflation is growing at the rate of 10%
• Galloping inflation;- higher growth rate compared to the carier
stages i.e change is around 25%
