Indulekha
Indulekha is a Malayalam novel written by O. Chandu Menon. Published in 1889, it was the first
major novel in Malayalam language. It was a landmark in the history of Malayalam literature and
initiated novel as a new flourishing genre. The novel is about a beautiful, well–educated lady of a
Nair tharavadu. The novel was written at a time when there was an emerging class of upper caste
and also explains about the matriarchy family.
"Aristocratic, accomplished, educated in English and incomparably stunning, Indulekha loves her
first cousin Madhavan, returns her devotion and holds revolutionary views. She fights a composed
and humorous battle to palm off the filthy and older Surinambuthiripad, seeks a sambandam along
with her. And Indulekha uses the primary person singular as she rejects his advances, her action
reverberates across Nair society"

There was a split between Western ideal and traditional practices with educated Indians. The
Nambudiri Brahmins of Kerala, traditionally had matrimonial relations with Nair ladies, referred to
as Sambandham, Since solely the oldest Nambudiri youth was allowed to marry a Brahmin woman.
The younger sons were inspired to own Sambandham with Nair ladies, so as to take care of male
inheritance, since the kids born from such relations belonged to their mother's family. The social
system (matriarchy) practices by the Nairs were also coming under attack during this era. Many
Nambudiri men though learned in Vedas and Sanskrit, had little knowledge of English and Western
science. The novel highlights the lack of temperament of the Nambudiris to adapt to the amendment
of times, yet because of the struggle by Nair women to interrupt out of the old principle of
Sambandham, that had very importance during the late 19th

Importance Of Passions In Education
"Follow your passions. Don't listen to your parents. Follow what you are most passionate about."
Syed Akbaruddin (The permanent United Nations delegate to India) said this at an interview my
student group conducted. I am a Humanities and Communication student and this is my third year in
the program. This means that I explore the subjects I enjoy the most, deeper than other subjects. I
have a passion for photography, writing, and other forms of art and communication. Because of this,
I am not able to choose a favorite subject, especially since my classes are so diverse. The way I
interact and study prove how I am eligible for this program Although my classes are different, they
do have a few similarities. They all require being able to work with others and communication
skills. I am a person that can make friends easily. I have made many friends around the world
because of the stories I publish online. This is because I listen to and respect others. This is also
because I am very good in communicating. I have won many prizes in debate and speech in
Malayalam (an Indian language) and English. During the summer of the seventh grade, I went to a
model Untied Nation camp in Georgetown University that focused on speech and met many people
from around the country. Together, we worked during simulations and created treaties during
caucuses. I was also given a scholarship for a speech workshop called Young Speaker's Club. My

Theme Of Voice And Silence In The God Of Small Things
"The God of Small things" is the polyphonic novel, where characters are demarcated on the basis of
their certain elements of language, which enhance their importance and employ meaningful
existence in the story. Readers and critics elicit meanings through gestures, actions, voices and
silences of the characters. Language acts as a synecdoche, thus voice, its intonation and accents has
also significance in creation of characters. Voice and silence work paradoxically as metonymy. Both
are mandatory in the world of literature, themes of plays, novels and poetry become significant with
these two devices of language; where voice leaves its words, silence shows meaning. It may sound
illogical to discuss voice and silence within the written text, which is mute form of language and

The Main Attraction Of Kerala
India has 28 states in that I belong to Kerala. The main attraction of Kerala is the Ayurveda
treatment. The state is famous because of decorated elephant and boat racing.
Language
Language is an essential part of everyday life. States within India have their own languages, more
than 20 officially recognized languages are there in India including English, Hindi, Punjabi,
Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil etc. In that, English and Hindi are using for official purpose. I am
familiar with different languages such as Malayalam, English, Telugu and Tamil, but my mother
tongue is Malayalam.
Marriage
Marriages in India, which extended several days and it's filled with celebrations. Most of the Indian
marriages are considered arranged but nowadays some people prefer to love marriage. Arrange
marriage is the way of traditional Indian wedding is about two families are taking the decision.
Whereas in love marriage partners decide to whom should I marry. I like and respect Indian
tradition so I gave the chance to my family to take the decision about my marriage.
Food pattern
Indian food pattern is heavily influenced by religion and culture. Some people who belong to Hindu
religion they strictly follow the vegetarian food. Traditional Kerala sadhya is common for festivals
and ceremonies like Onam, Vishu and marriage functions. Sadhya includes rice with twenty
different dishes and desserts. The main desserts are payasam and halva and sadhya is usually served

Essay On Multi-Linear Regression
A sample size equaling 50 + 8m is required to do a multi–linear regression, where m is the number
of independent variables chosen. At least 3 independent variables can be analyzed (assuming a
moderate effect size) taking males and females separately if an equal number of males and females
are chosen (Green, 1991). Thus the sample size is adequate for a multi–linear regression analysis.
Therefore a sample size of 154 stable mentally ill patients is thus both practical and also would be
among the highest sample sizes used yet for such a requirement as this study.

Fifteen of the original two hundred and thirty five patients were suffering from extreme symptoms

A literature review is a text written by various authors to consider the critical points of current
knowledge including substantive findings, as well as theoretical and methodological contributions to
a particular topic. For any research work it is utmost important to create necessary theoretical
background. For this researcher mainly relied on the secondary information available in research
papers, books, business magazines, newspapers, survey reports of different companies etc. This

The research also makes it clear that improving RBS and the subsequent performance measurements
of readership and circulation must be a strategic imperative that has meaning and relevance to
everyone who works for the newspaper.
Mary Nesbitt and John Lavine in their research paper on Reinventing the Newspaper for Young
Adults in 2012 in their Research has shown that intensive implementation of the Readership
Institute's experience research can produce positive outcomes with a crucial audience. When given a
choice between traditional Newspaper and ad E–paper content that has been intentionally chosen
and presented to improve their reading experience, young adult readers clearly and strongly prefer
the Traditional Newspaper. It was clear that there are many definite reasons to choose Traditional
Newspaper." Now its a time for newspapers and publishing houses to develop and test a variety of
approaches and use those experiences to increase the Readership.
Mary Nesbitt & Steve Duke in their article about "The Experience of Newspaper" published in may

Culture In Honey Bee
Culture is something a person takes in with his first breath. It is an integral part of the society which
is learned and shared in a society by its members. A culture is built of the ideas, values and
behaviors that the society entertains along with the food it eats, the dress it wears and the language it
speaks. Culture differs along with the geographical variations and across the timeline. For that
precise reason, we, around the globe has a hold on an assorted mixture of different cultures. Though
greatly varied from place to place and time to time, all the elements of a culture can be generally

Literature Review On Speech Recognition System
II. LITERATURE SURVEY
Review of literature on speech recognition systems authentically demands consideration towards the
finding of Alexander Graham Bell regarding the method of converting sound waves into electrical
impulses and the first speech recognition system developed by Davis et al. [6] for finding telephone
superiority digits spoken at normal speech rate. This attempt for automatic speech recognition was
mainly centered on the edifice of an electronic circuit for discovering ten digits of telephone
superiority. Spoken words were examined to obtain a 2–D plot of formant 1 vs. formant 2. A circuit
is developed for finding the greatest correlation coefficient among a set of novel incoming data for
pattern matching. These features are grouped into feature vectors that serve the purpose of reducing
dimensionality and redundancy in the input to the speaker recognition system. An indication circuit
was created to exhibit the already discovered spoken digit. The proposed approach lays stress on
recognizing speech sounds and providing appropriate labels to these sounds. Various approaches and
types of speech recognition systems came into existence in last five decades gradually. This
evolution has led to a remarkable impact on the development of speech recognition systems for
various languages worldwide. The exact nature of the feature set depends on what part of a speech
signal the features are expected to represent and thus what type of information is to be extracted. In

Essay On Duarte Barbosa
The Book of Duarte Barbosa. Barbosa, Duarte was a Portuguese factor at Cannanore and Cochin in
between 1500 and (about) 1517 and had left behind an interesting account on trade and political
events of the southeast including Bengal. His father Diogo Barbosa, a man of good family, was in
the service of Duke of Braganca and sailed to India in 1501. Duarte Barbosa's uncle, Goncalo Gil
Barbosa, had gone to India in 1503 with the fleet of Pedro Alvarez Cabral; and was left at Cochin as
a factor. It is probable that Duarte had joined Cabral's fleet and remained with his uncle at Cochin.
Duarte Barbosa was at Cannor, when the fleet of Alborguerques came to India , he had learnt
Malayalam to act as interpreter to Francisco D' Albuquerque on his visit to the King of Cannanore.

While ratios are easy to compute, which in part explains their wide appeal, their interpretation is
problematic, especially when two or more ratios provide conflicting signals. Indeed, ratio analysis is
often criticized on the grounds of subjectivity, that is the analyst must pick and choose ratios in
order to assess the overall performance of a firm. In this paper we demonstrate that Data
Envelopment Analysis (DEA) can augment the traditional ratio analysis. DEA can provide a
consistent and reliable measure of managerial or operational efficiency of a firm. We test the null
hypothesis that there is no relationship between DEA and traditional accounting ratios as measures
of performance of a firm. Our results reject the null hypothesis indicating that DEA can provide
information to analysts that is additional to that provided by traditional ratio analysis. We also apply
DEA to the oil and gas industry to demonstrate how financial analysts can employ DEA as a

Abstract
"This paper is primarily based on Rogers' diffusion of innovations theory and Auger's empirical
study. An empirical research study was conducted to investigate the perceived financial performance
of commercial printing firms for conducting business–to–customer (B2C) activities using Web
technology. Financial performance was measured using four financial indicators: sales, profits,
costs, and return–on–investment (ROI). The diffusion of innovations theory states that an innovation
brings changes to a company. Web technology is an innovation that affects company's performance.
This paper investigates the effect of Web technology on commercial printing firms' financial

The Status Of A Woman Essay
I'd like to start my Essay with famous quote of Virgina Woolf, which goes as, "Women have served
all these centuries as looking glasses possessing the magic and delicious power of reflecting the
figure of man at twice it's natural Size" The topic that I've chosen for my essay is The Status of A
Woman in South Indian or specifically Malayalam Cinema. The first question the arises in my mind
while watching any Malayalam movie is why does the nationally and internationally acclaimed
Malayalam or for that matter any South Indian Cinema fail to represent women's experiences, Why
are The Female leads just subjected to basic chores, or as an object of desire? Me being a Woman
find it very disturbing to see woman being labelled in the same umbrella. Indian cinema has always
been under the line of fire for its potrayal of women as objects of desire. Be it in the case of
Mandakini, Parveen Babi or the current crop of actresses. From 'Sheila Ki Jawaani ' to 'Munni ki
Badnaami ', its usually women who are utilized as objects of desire and sexual objects. The situation
is no different in Indian culture where In reality the birth of a girl child is frowned and looked down
upon with disrespect in some parts of India and shockingly even among elite and educated Indians,
whereas the Birth of a boy is celebrated. Indian Cinema as a whole is the biggest culprit here as the
reach and impact by Commercial films is the most and it is very disheartening that such an industry

As I grew older and observed others having similar experiences, I realized that there is a balance. I

globalization. Due to the reflection of my personal values within QUIC, I have decided to apply for
this position with the intent to use my administrative and customer service experience in a job that I

"Please someone help me!" Those were the very words my grandmother had screamed in
Malayalam, our native language, while laying motionless and gasping for air. I sprinted across my
aunt's living room with screams of my family echoing in my ear and quickly dialed 911. Without
any hesitation, my mother who is a nurse practitioner fell to her knees and started CPR. It took two
unbearable hours for an ambulance to arrive – they were completely unprepared. That night I saw a
glimpse of a healthcare system that was not only dysfunctional, but was understaffed and over–
worked. This ultimately contributed to the death of my grandmother. After the wake and funeral
services had passed, I still could not wrap my head around the preceding events. ... Show more

Four doctors offered four different surgeries for his radical prostatectomy; with each of them
guaranteeing their method was the best. How could that be possible? From yet another experience, I
came to the realization that being a healthcare provider was just not enough. In our ever–changing
health care system, we need leaders that have a toolbox of personal traits that include managerial
and financial skills in order to be successful. My job as a medical assistant at Kurucz Medical, a
Rheumatology and Internal Medicine office, has provided me with the understanding of our
healthcare system's depth and complexity. Now you may be asking, "What are your future goals?" It
is obvious to me that I want to be fully engaged in a field of intelligence, which will allow

Difference Between Pranam And Namestey And Abhivadan
Difference between Pranam and Namestey and Abhivadan What is the difference between Pranam
and Namestey and Abhivadan..............? PRANAMA.....:The literal meaning of Pranam is to pay
highest respect to some one which is equivalent to touching his/her feet though feet are not touched.
As such Pranam should always be done by younger ones to elders. It is never answered by saying

Essay On Alexander Mcqueen
Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE (17 March 1969 – 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer
and couturier. He is known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 and
for founding his own Alexander McQueen label. His achievements in fashion earned him four
British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA's
International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen committed suicide in 2010 at the age of
forty. [1]
McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows. McQueen has been credited
with bringing drama and extravagance to the catwalk. He used new technology and innovation to
add a different twist to his shows and often shocked and surprised audiences. The silhouettes that he
created have been credited for adding a sense of fantasy and rebellion to fashion.
AVAT GARDE – The brand ideology was never conventional and the designer almost always
experimented with new things to create out of fashion. Alexander McQueen was the man who made
the builder's bum fashionable. His "bumsters", which appeared in 1996, spawned the trend in
perilously low–rise, crevice–revealing jeans. It was a look that spread and spread, although few

Analysis Of Arundhati Roy 's ' The God Of Small Things '
The relationship between language and resistance in Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things, is a
site of continuous contest and struggle. Roy assumes a position within Western discourse to
communicate her ideas, all the while challenging and rejecting the very structure she inhabits.
Through her writing, rather than seeking to enter the canon of postcolonial literature, Roy strives to
redefine it. Throughout the narrative, she subverts the rules and boundaries of language, internally
pursuing a desire to resist both her colonial inheritance and the systematic oppression of Indian
society. She fashions a language of energy and oppositionality to the colonial legacy through a
construction and critique of the text's cultural and imperial inheritance. Through language, Roy
finds ways to resist any dichotomy that posits a correct way of being by writing to both counter her
native culture and also to honour it. This essay will discuss how Roy manipulates the colonial
language into a tool of resistance from the colonial language through her acceptance, subversion and
subjugation of India's imperial inheritance.
Roy is very aware that the language of the coloniser is what unites India. Throughout the novel, Roy
is faced with the dilemma of defending the value of her native culture against the universality of the
English language. Critics have consistently articulated that language is an active site of conflict in
post–colonial discourse. Literary theorist Bill Ashcroft argues

Personal Statement: A Community Analysis
I was born in India to Indian parents and relocated to Japan, where I spent my childhood. Because of
this, I learned Japanese language and culture alongside Malayalam, my mother tongue. While living
in Japan, I picked up on significant cultural values that were repeatedly emphasized. For one, I
began to internalize the value of humility. My father's boss at the time was emblematic of this trait;
despite being the successful CEO of his company, he rode a bicycle to work every morning. He
remained grounded despite having cause to flaunt his riches. I strive to apply this sense of humility
to all aspects of my future medical education and career. I believe I need to practice humility to

By building closer relationships with my community and truly understanding their needs, I will be

grateful for my Japanese upbringing in that regard, I believe it was also a negative factor at times. In
trying to create a tightly–knit community, I found that many times my neighborhood would exclude
unfamiliar people often based on superficial observations. Because of this, my family had to put in
extra amounts of work on top of adhering to cultural norms and speaking the language fluently. I
believe their sense of community would be especially beneficial if it began to incorporate a desire
for inclusivity. I urge them to understand that a strong sense of community is not founded on being

Subjective Narration In Citizen Kane
When the storyline moves in a subjective narration, the viewers tend to become closer to the
character who narrates the story from his viewpoint. Many of the films fall under the mix of
objective and subjective narration, where halfway through the films the narration shifts from either
subjective to objective or the other way round. Particularly in the 1941 American mystery film
Citizen Kane, the film moves into a nonlinear storyline. When a group of journalists starts
investigating about the life of the protagonist, the movie falls into the objective narration, but when
the other characters in the movie are interviewed, then their point of views including the flashbacks
will be presented through a subjective narration. Similarly to the case

Arundhati Roy and Chi Li Slays the Serpent
The First Weekly Essay
This week the author I read about that caught my attention was Arundhati Roy and the story of "Chi
Li Slays the Serpent" also caught my eye. The two stories are alike because of their heroism about
the situations they faced in the stories that I read. They knew there would be a fight of a lifetime and
they were prepared to face any consequences that came with the territory. "The monster conquered
you because you were too timid to put up a fight! How pitiful!" That was one of the quotes from the
story that really grabbed my attention to how I feel about some of the women that let certain things
go on in their lives such as abuse, or being misled for a long period of time. Well that was a short
story and not enough to write about so in further reading I hope you enjoy the reading.
Arundhati Roy was born in 1961, her mother a Christian woman a native of Kerala and her father
was Hindu from Bengal. Because of the divorce of her parents, Arundhati spent her early years in
Aymanam with her mom. The influence of her childhood years are revealed her writings structurally
and thematically. Arundhati's mother was a prominent social activist who founded an independent
school and taught Roy normally. Her mother's teaching gave her the ability to follow her inner voice
in her writings. She comment that "When I write, I never re–write a sentence because for me my

The white elephant, a gift from the King of Cochin to Manuel, was an albino–a trait as exceedingly
rare in elephants as in humans. After being shipped from Cochin to Lisbon, the elephant–named
Hanno, possibly anglicized version of the Malayalam word for elephant, "aana"–was packaged up
for his journey to Rome. Although Hanno was accompanied by forty–three other exotic animals, he
was clearly the star of the show.
Upon reaching the Vatican, Hanno proceeded to stun the papal court and steal Leo's heart in a grand
procession, in which he danced to pipe music and performed tricks with his trunk. Manuel's
magnificent present charmed the entire city, inspiring poetry and verse about the king's great

Analysis Of The Film 'Maheshinte Driksathhikaram'
After the most talked about film of Malayalam film industry in last year "Maheshinte Prathikaram"
("Mahesh's Revenge") director Dileesh Pothan and actor Fahadh Faasil comes together for
"Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum" (Roughly translated as "The Exhibit and the Witness"). Even
though it's only the second film from Pothan, due to the immense fan following for his previous film
which even generated a trend of finding minute details from that film and labeling it as Pothettan
brilliance, there was much hype to live up to. By making the subject into a dark humor rather than
the previous film which was more of a feel good film, Pothan was able to satisfy and surprise his
fans.
The film begins in a rural village near Alappuzha where chance encounters leads into a love affair
between Prasad and Sreeja. Their inter–caste marriage prompts them to shift to Kasargod. On a bus
journey Sreeja's gold chain is snatched by a man behind her while she fell asleep. As the chain is
being snatched she comes out of the sleep only to find the man swallowing it. With the help of
passengers and employees of the bus the thief is brought to the nearby Sheni police station, the man
denying the theft all the while. The only witness to the theft is Sreeja who was half asleep. So the
police decides to take the man into custody and wait for a day to find if the chain can be found in his
shit.

Essay About Toda
FUNERAL
Todas believe in life after death and believe that the soul is immortal. They have a grand funeral
ceremony. They cremate the dead bodies. The todas believed that the buffalo's spirit would be a
companion to the dead person and the dead person could live as he lived on earth and therefore used
to sacrifice buffaloes. However, this cruel practice has been disregarded by the Government in 1964.
There are two types of funeral ceremonies which is the Green and Dry disposals of the dead. Green
disposal is done when an adult dies and after a few months is followed by dry disposal for a group
of dead people. For a man the rituals are done by his son or brother but for a woman it is done by

The God Of Small Things Analysis
In The God of Small Things Roy uses a unique writing style to convey a story about two twins
whose childhood is ruined by society's opinion on who can and cannot be loved. Expertly, Roy
manages to touch on important social issues such as caste systems, Indian politics and traditional
family dynamics without conforming to traditional novel structures. In the God of Small Things,
Roy tests the bounds of literature by combining adjectives and nouns, flipping from English to
Malayalam and adding italics in the middle of sentences. Roy ditches the structure of conventional
novels by using a unusual language that forces the reader to develop a more in depth and
meaningful relationship with the characters. WHY Throughout the story Roy joins adjectives and
nouns that foreshadow later scenes in the book. Although the pairing of adjectives and nouns might
seem unconventional, Roy does it in such a meticulous way which provides the reader with more
background information regarding the plot and the history of the characters. For example, when the
concession stand man is molesting Estha, Roy focuses on Estha's thought process throughout the
ordeal. "Good," the Orangedrink Lemondrink Man said, "Excellent" His hand closed tighter over
Estha's. Tight and sweaty." The childlike name" Orangedrink Lemondrink Man" is similar to the one
a young child gives to an imaginary monster that is made up in their heads. Roy's decision to have
Estha refer to the molester by this name throughout

Devdas Metaphor Essay
Devdas as the word comes to mind it conjures up the visage of a haggard, world–weary, lovelorn
soul, driving himself to drink and hurtling on relentlessly on the path to self–destruction. The

readers and film–going audiences for the better part of a century now. Devdas has several
adaptations and translations and therefore it is good to look at the specific ways in which the Devdas
metaphor has engaged our imagination over several generations. Saratchandra Chattopadhyay's
Devdas was published in Bengali in 1917. It was also a time when the forty–year old writer has just
experienced his meteoric rise to fame. Saratchandra Chattopadhyay ... Show more content on

followed the success of the 1935 Bengali version with a Hindi adaptation the following year in 1936
starring K.L.Saigal. Further there was last of three language versions, by Barua first being in
Bengali and the second in hindi and the third one in Assamese in 1937 starring Phani Sharma. Then
Devadasu a 1953 film directed by Vedantam Raghavaiah, film was shot simultaneously in Telgu and

undoubtedly Bimal Roy's 1955 Hindi film, starring Dilip Kumar in title role, Vyjayanthimala as
Chandramukhi and Suchitra Sen as Parvati in lead (which followed the novel closely) and
considered by many to be the most faithful adaptation of the novella is still considered a classic of
the celluloid screen. The power and effectiveness of the early scenes between Devdas and Parvati,

It was a landmark in the history of Malayalam literature and initiated novel as a new flourishing genre. The novel is about a beautiful, well–educated lady of a Nair tharavadu. The novel was written at a time when there was an emerging class of upper caste and also explains about the matriarchy family. There was a split between Western ideal and traditional practices with educated Indians. The Nambudiri Brahmins of Kerala, traditionally had matrimonial relations with Nair ladies, referred to as Sambandham, Since solely the oldest Nambudiri youth was allowed to marry a Brahmin woman. The younger sons were inspired to own Sambandham with Nair ladies, so as to take care of male inheritance, since the kids born from such relations belonged to their mother's family. The social system (matriarchy) practices by the Nairs were also coming under attack during this era. Many Nambudiri men though learned in Vedas and Sanskrit, had little knowledge of English and Western science. The novel highlights the lack of temperament of the Nambudiris to adapt to the amendment of times, yet because of the struggle by Nair women to interrupt out of the old principle of Sambandham, that had very importance during the late 19th ... • 2. Importance Of Passions In Education "Follow your passions. Don't listen to your parents. Follow what you are most passionate about." Syed Akbaruddin (The permanent United Nations delegate to India) said this at an interview my student group conducted. I am a Humanities and Communication student and this is my third year in the program. This means that I explore the subjects I enjoy the most, deeper than other subjects. I have a passion for photography, writing, and other forms of art and communication. Because of this, I am not able to choose a favorite subject, especially since my classes are so diverse. The way I interact and study prove how I am eligible for this program Although my classes are different, they do have a few similarities. They all require being able to work with others and communication skills. I am a person that can make friends easily. I have made many friends around the world because of the stories I publish online. This is because I listen to and respect others. This is also because I am very good in communicating. I have won many prizes in debate and speech in Malayalam (an Indian language) and English. During the summer of the seventh grade, I went to a model Untied Nation camp in Georgetown University that focused on speech and met many people from around the country. Together, we worked during simulations and created treaties during caucuses. I was also given a scholarship for a speech workshop called Young Speaker's Club. • 14. Literature Review On Speech Recognition System II. LITERATURE SURVEY Review of literature on speech recognition systems authentically demands consideration towards the finding of Alexander Graham Bell regarding the method of converting sound waves into electrical impulses and the first speech recognition system developed by Davis et al. [6] for finding telephone superiority digits spoken at normal speech rate. This attempt for automatic speech recognition was mainly centered on the edifice of an electronic circuit for discovering ten digits of telephone superiority. Spoken words were examined to obtain a 2–D plot of formant 1 vs. formant 2. A circuit is developed for finding the greatest correlation coefficient among a set of novel incoming data for pattern matching. These features are grouped into feature vectors that serve the purpose of reducing dimensionality and redundancy in the input to the speaker recognition system. An indication circuit was created to exhibit the already discovered spoken digit. The proposed approach lays stress on recognizing speech sounds and providing appropriate labels to these sounds. Various approaches and types of speech recognition systems came into existence in last five decades gradually. This evolution has led to a remarkable impact on the development of speech recognition systems for various languages worldwide. The exact nature of the feature set depends on what part of a speech signal the features are expected to represent and thus what type of information is to be extracted. In ... Indeed, ratio analysis is often criticized on the grounds of subjectivity, that is the analyst must pick and choose ratios in order to assess the overall performance of a firm. In this paper we demonstrate that Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) can augment the traditional ratio analysis. DEA can provide a consistent and reliable measure of managerial or operational efficiency of a firm. We test the null hypothesis that there is no relationship between DEA and traditional accounting ratios as measures of performance of a firm. Our results reject the null hypothesis indicating that DEA can provide information to analysts that is additional to that provided by traditional ratio analysis. The Status Of A Woman Essay I'd like to start my Essay with famous quote of Virgina Woolf, which goes as, "Women have served all these centuries as looking glasses possessing the magic and delicious power of reflecting the figure of man at twice it's natural Size" The topic that I've chosen for my essay is The Status of A Woman in South Indian or specifically Malayalam Cinema. The first question the arises in my mind while watching any Malayalam movie is why does the nationally and internationally acclaimed Malayalam or for that matter any South Indian Cinema fail to represent women's experiences, Why are The Female leads just subjected to basic chores, or as an object of desire? Me being a Woman find it very disturbing to see woman being labelled in the same umbrella. Indian cinema has always been under the line of fire for its potrayal of women as objects of desire. Be it in the case of Mandakini, Parveen Babi or the current crop of actresses. From 'Sheila Ki Jawaani ' to 'Munni ki Badnaami ', its usually women who are utilized as objects of desire and sexual objects. The situation is no different in Indian culture where In reality the birth of a girl child is frowned and looked down upon with disrespect in some parts of India and shockingly even among elite and educated Indians, whereas the Birth of a boy is celebrated. • 28. Analysis Of Arundhati Roy 's ' The God Of Small Things ' The relationship between language and resistance in Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things, is a site of continuous contest and struggle. Roy assumes a position within Western discourse to communicate her ideas, all the while challenging and rejecting the very structure she inhabits. Through her writing, rather than seeking to enter the canon of postcolonial literature, Roy strives to redefine it. Throughout the narrative, she subverts the rules and boundaries of language, internally pursuing a desire to resist both her colonial inheritance and the systematic oppression of Indian society. She fashions a language of energy and oppositionality to the colonial legacy through a construction and critique of the text's cultural and imperial inheritance. Through language, Roy finds ways to resist any dichotomy that posits a correct way of being by writing to both counter her native culture and also to honour it. This essay will discuss how Roy manipulates the colonial language into a tool of resistance from the colonial language through her acceptance, subversion and subjugation of India's imperial inheritance. Roy is very aware that the language of the coloniser is what unites India. Throughout the novel, Roy is faced with the dilemma of defending the value of her native culture against the universality of the English language. Critics have consistently articulated that language is an active site of conflict in post–colonial discourse. Literary theorist Bill Ashcroft argues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I spent the first seven years of my life there. Then my family moved to Edmonton, Canada, searching for jobs because my dad's business profit back home was decreasing immensely. English was very different from my first language, Malayalam, but I was taught the alphabet and its pronunciations at school in India, therefore it was not incredibly difficult for me to adapt. My classmates here were a little confused because I am from India, but my name Kevin Prince. Then I told them that I am Christian and they got even more confused. Over the past eight years that I have lived here, I became closer to my family, made many friends, found new hobbies and began thinking about my dreams and life goals. ... Analysis Of The Film 'Maheshinte Driksathhikaram' After the most talked about film of Malayalam film industry in last year "Maheshinte Prathikaram" ("Mahesh's Revenge") director Dileesh Pothan and actor Fahadh Faasil comes together for "Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum" (Roughly translated as "The Exhibit and the Witness"). Even though it's only the second film from Pothan, due to the immense fan following for his previous film which even generated a trend of finding minute details from that film and labeling it as Pothettan brilliance, there was much hype to live up to. By making the subject into a dark humor rather than the previous film which was more of a feel good film, Pothan was able to satisfy and surprise his fans. The film begins in a rural village near Alappuzha where chance encounters leads into a love affair between Prasad and Sreeja. Their inter–caste marriage prompts them to shift to Kasargod. On a bus journey Sreeja's gold chain is snatched by a man behind her while she fell asleep. As the chain is being snatched she comes out of the sleep only to find the man swallowing it. With the help of passengers and employees of the bus the thief is brought to the nearby Sheni police station, the man denying the theft all the while. The only witness to the theft is Sreeja who was half asleep. So the police decides to take the man into custody and wait for a day to find if the chain can be found in his shit. Just like in his previous film Pothan manages to make the locations into characters that are inevitable to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ideas: The Devdas Metaphor Devdas as the word comes to mind it conjures up the visage of a haggard, world–weary, lovelorn soul, driving himself to drink and hurtling on relentlessly on the path to self–destruction. The 'Devdas Metaphor', a time–honoured, enduring tragic symbol of unfulfilled love, has captivated readers and film–going audiences for the better part of a century now. Devdas has several adaptations and translations and therefore it is good to look at the specific ways in which the Devdas metaphor has engaged our imagination over several generations. The most prominent version after Barua's masterpiece was undoubtedly Bimal Roy's 1955 Hindi film, starring Dilip Kumar in title role, Vyjayanthimala as Chandramukhi and Suchitra Sen as Parvati in lead (which followed the novel closely) and considered by many to be the most faithful adaptation of the novella is still considered a classic of the celluloid screen. The power and effectiveness of the early scenes between Devdas and Parvati, are the scene where she proposes marriage to him, or their meeting on the riverbank just before her marriage enhanced drama by some telling touches– that blows out during Devdas's last talk with Parvati, signaling the closing of their days, even as Devdas asks her chillingly futile question, "Can you run away with me tonight"; or the scenes between Devdas and Chandramukhi are etched out so beautifully that it seems equivalent as reading novel. The todas believed that the buffalo's spirit would be a companion to the dead person and the dead person could live as he lived on earth and therefore used to sacrifice buffaloes. However, this cruel practice has been disregarded by the Government in 1964. There are two types of funeral ceremonies which is the Green and Dry disposals of the dead. For a man the rituals are done by his son or brother but for a woman it is done by her husband. The funeral pyre is lighted from a fire ignited by friction which is thought to be ... The first press commission of 1954 pointed out this fact. The same state continues unabated. • 42. The God Of Small Things Analysis In The God of Small Things Roy uses a unique writing style to convey a story about two twins whose childhood is ruined by society's opinion on who can and cannot be loved. Expertly, Roy manages to touch on important social issues such as caste systems, Indian politics and traditional family dynamics without conforming to traditional novel structures. In the God of Small Things, Roy tests the bounds of literature by combining adjectives and nouns, flipping from English to Malayalam and adding italics in the middle of sentences. Roy ditches the structure of conventional novels by using a unusual language that forces the reader to develop a more in depth and meaningful relationship with the characters. WHY Throughout the story Roy joins adjectives and nouns that foreshadow later scenes in the book. Although the pairing of adjectives and nouns might seem unconventional, Roy does it in such a meticulous way which provides the reader with more background information regarding the plot and the history of the characters. For example, when the concession stand man is molesting Estha, Roy focuses on Estha's thought process throughout the ordeal. "Good," the Orangedrink Lemondrink Man said, "Excellent" His hand closed tighter over Estha's. Tight and sweaty." The childlike name" Orangedrink Lemondrink Man" is similar to the one a young child gives to an imaginary monster that is made up in their heads. Roy's decision to have Estha refer to the molester by this name throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
