2. About Indian Economy
• The Economy of India is the seventh-largest in the world by
nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity.
• GDP growth rate is 7.3%.
• Indian Economy is the fastest growing economy in the world
replacing the People’s republic of China from last Quarter of
2014.
• India also topped the World Bank’s growth outlook for 2015-16
for the first time with the economy having grown 7.3%

3. Economic sustainability occurs when a political unit, such as a
nation, has the preferred present of its population below its
preferred minimum standard of living level. The present needs to
very low, somewhere around 5% or less, because everyone
below the level is suffering, either physically due to poor health
or psychologically.

4. Conditions for Sustainable
Development:
 Control over the illicit economy :
Control over illicit economy is a condition in which illicit
wealth no longer determines who governs, predatory actors are
prevented from looting state resources. ex-combatants are
reintegrated and provided jobs or benefits.
 Employment generation :
It is a condition in which job opportunities are created to yield
quick impact to demonstrate progress.

5.  Macroeconomic Stabilisation:
It is a condition in which monetary and fiscal
policies are established to align the currency to market
levels, manage inflation and create transparent and
accountable system for public finance management.

6.  Market Economy sustainability :
It is a condition in which a market-based
economy is enabled and encouraged to thrive.
Infrastructure is built or rehabilitated, and the
private sector and the human capital and financial
sectors are nurtured and strengthened.
