India is an official republic country
of south Asia. It is the second most
populated country and seventh
largest country in compare to
area. India have an outstanding
diversity of religion and
languages, the culture of India is
unique and unmatched. India is
one of the ancient civiliazation
and have a remarkable history. It
has achived multi-faceted socio-
economic progress in last five
years.
India has moved forward displaying
remarkable progress in the field of
agriculture, industry, technology and overall
economic development. India has also
contributed significantly in the making of
world history. From the traces of hominoid
activity discovered in the subcontinent, it is
recognized as India was in habited
approximately 250,000 years ago.
LOCATION
OF INDIA:-
India is situated in the continent of
Asia. It lies completely in the northern
hemisphere and eastern hemisphere
between latitude 8.4N and 37.6N
and longitude 68.7E and 97.25E.
India is divided by tropic of cancer
23.30N in almost two equal parts. The
southernmost point of Indian union as
“INDIRAPOINT”, however that was
submerged in 2004 tsunami.
In the south-east of India, Andaman
and Nicobar islands lie in the Bay Of
Bengal. In the south-west
Lakshadweep islands lie in Arabian
Sea. Since the opening of SUEZ canal
n 1869, India`s distance from Europe
has been reduced by 7,000km.
SIZE OF
INDIA:-
The land mass of India has an area of
3.28 million square km. India`s total
area accounts for about 3.4% of the
total geographical area of the world.
India has a land boundary of about
15,200km and the total length of the
coastline of the mainland, including
Andaman and Nicobar and
Lakshdweep is 7,516.6km.
India is bounded by the young fold
mountains in the northwest, north and
northeast. South of about 22 degree
north latitude. It begins to taper and
extends towards the Indian ocean,
diving into Indian ocean, the Arabian
sea on the west and the Bay Of
Bengal on its east.

Latitude and longitude are a system of
imaginary lines used to describe the
location of any place on earth.
*Latitude is the measurement of
distance north-south of the equator.
*Longitude is the measurement of
distance east-west of the equator.
*Equator is the imaginary line around
the middle of the planet.
India And The
World
The Indian land mass is centrally
located between west and east Asia.
India`s protruding deccan peninsula
helped India to establish close
contact with west Asia, Africa and
Europe, south-east and east Asia.
India`s contact with the world via
land routes are much more than its
maritime contacts.
India is well connected with the rest of
the world through land and water.
However the land contact is older
than water contact. The oceans have
restricted travel in country since
ancient time. But the land passages
helped in travel of ancient trvellers.
India also have a rich source of spices
that are exported to many parts of the
world.
Indians architecture was influenced by
Greek sculpture and architectural
styles from west Asia. To which India
contributed by giving a lot forms of
ideas, philosophies and in maths.
INDIA`S
NEIGHBOURS
India share its borders with 9 countries
in total. The length of land border of
India is 15,106.7 km and the costal line
is 7516.6 km. The 9 neighbouring
countries of India are
1. Afghanistan 6. Nepal
2. Bangladesh 7. Pakistan
3. Bhutan 8. Sri lanka
4. China 9. Maldives
5. Myanmar
1. Ladak is the Indian state which
share is boundary with Afghanistan.
2. Meghalaya share its Indian
boundary with Bangladesh.
3. Assam shares its boundary with
Bhutan.
4. Sikkim share its boundary with China.
5. Nagaland share its boundary with
Myanmar.
6. Bihar share its boundary with Nepal.
7. Jammu and Kashmir share its
boundary with Pakistan.
8. Sri lanka is separated from India by
the Gulf Of Myanmar.
9. Maldives lies in south-west part of
