Diversity In The Workplace. . Diversity In The Workplace
Diversity in the Workplace Diversity in the workplace is imperative even though
some commentators argue that too much diversity can be negative.
Diversity can lead to staff feeling threatened or even annoyed by persons with views
and backgrounds different from their own (Barsoux, Strebel and Manzoni, 2010).
Instead of inclusivity, diversity can end up causing conflicts, as some staff are
reluctant in changing their viewpoints and are less adaptable to change.
The discourse relating to diversity also applies to senior high skilled professionals.
As there has been various discussion over the years to introduce quotas at board
level, to assist those from underrepresented backgrounds. If individuals are selected
to become directors based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trying to exclude diverse people from the workforce will essentially exclude them
from society, which is not only regressive and divisive but it would send the
economy into turmoil as a result of how diverse the UK is.
Besides, a lack of diversity will lead to less innovative strategies as different
individuals from different backgrounds wield different experiences and viewpoints. It
is argued that If an organization does not leverage the potent weapon of diversity, it
risks limiting its creative potential and ultimately losing its competitive edge
(Ey.com, 2017).
To ensure that diversity is not undermined in the workplace the Equality Act was
enacted. The Equality Act, prohibits positive discrimination, but it does allow for
positive action. Positive action is when an employer takes steps to help or
encourage certain groups of people with different needs, or who are disadvantaged in
some way, access work of training (citizensadvice.org.uk, 2017). Positive action is
quite beneficial as it enables marginalised groups access to employment, in which
they historically did not have access too.
The Equality Act prohibits direct and indirect discrimination and harassment and
victimisation to individuals with a protected characteristic. The protected
characteristics are age, disability, sex, sexual orientation,
Self Awareness In Human Service Essay
As a current Human Service professional, having served in the field for 5 years, I
make a difference in the lives of those that matter. I have witnessed many downfalls
the people I support experience in their everyday lives. From restaurants not being
accommodating to the needs of those I support, people discriminating against those
with developmental and intellectual disabilities, to doctors saying people with
disabilities are a waste of time. I have witnessed all these issues and matters first
hand and it breaks my heart that these issues still arise. I could go on and on all day
long about the issues and experiences I have witnessed while assisting those I care for
in the community. According to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act),

For example, John, Bob, Jack, and Billy got to a restaurant with their staff and are
seated at a table that is accommodating for their four wheelchairs. Immediately a
customer gets up and leaves and another customer is heard a few tables down
discriminating against people with disabilities. Honestly, what do you do in this
situation? You have no choice but to sit there and smile and act like nothing is
happen when in fact there is.
When an issue like this arises something needs to be done. Discrimination against
people with disabilities is supposed to be protected under the Title III Civil Rights
Act. So many issues have gone unreported. People with any type of disability are
just like you and I. You know that old saying treat others the way you would want to
be treated? Well, this comes to play in this situation.
At any given point in time we could end up with a disability. According to CDC
Director Tom Frieden, M.D., M.P.H., we are all at risk of having disability at some
point in our lifetime (CDC, 2015). Just put yourselves into the shoes of those who
are disabled. Do you think they wanted to be that way? No, they did not. Some

Evolution of E-Governance in India
THE ROLE OF ONE STOP GOVERNMENT PORTAL IN E GOVERNANCE OF
INDIA
Abstract
This paper on One Stop Government Portal starts with the need for deviation from
conventional method of offering govt. services physically to offering it virtually. It
talks about the consequences of introduction of e governance with reference to one
stop govt. portals in India and the way people perceived its services. It also mentions
the way in which these services can be enhanced in order to reach the maximum
people effectively. Further, the one stop governmentportals can be used as a platform
to develop Unique Id system for the citizens of India. Thus, the paper throws light on
an era of internet that attempted to change the government services in a country ...

The main objective was to avoid the rework performed by Indian citizen to stand in
queues just for getting an application form. This was a vexing situation for both the
govt. officials and citizens of India. The work would be easier and life would be
better if this application form was made available on internet. This provided a start

2. The real usage: These services were meant to ease the pressure off the citizens of
India. However, there was a difference in a way majority of people perceived these
services. For many, it was just a new technology which they felt was far beyond
their reach. For some, the security feature was hindering in the process of taking
initiative to use the e governance services. There were also issues regarding literacy,
although the portals were meant to be multi lingual, the initial services were
launched in English which was a major factor for not reaching many citizens in
India. Hence all these factors led to decline in the numbers expected to use the e
governance services in India.
3. THE BACKBONE: THE ONE STOP PORTAL INITIATIVES IN INDIA
1. India, like other countries also started adopting the mega e governance projects

There were many historical events that occurred in Europe during the sixteenth
century. At this time, Europe was not very virtuous and respectable. This is because
at this time, the Protestant Revolt nearly destroyed the Catholic Church. In addition
to this, European politics were compromised by religious struggles which laid the
foundation for the Thirty Years War. Though there were numerous events that
occurred in sixteenth century Europe that are worth noting, this essay will focus on
three individuals who heavily influenced history in the West. The essay will not only
describe the lives and careers of these men, but the roles each one played in trying to
advance, or in some cases, destroy, the Catholic Church in the sixteenth century....

During this war, he saw this as a chance for France to develop as a Christian country,
both Catholic and Protestant. Many Catholics, including the queen mother, regarded
Huguenots... as the enemy and insisted that they be dealt with (Armand Jean du
Plessis de Richelieu Biography, Encyclopedia of World Biography internet). To
certain degree, the cardinal agreed with them and ...cooperated on a program of
reforms...and he allowed the Huguenots to continue practicing their religion as
long as they stayed loyal to the king (Armand Jean du Plessis de Richelieu
Biography, Encyclopedia of World Biography internet). Though this seems to be a
generous action on Richelieu s behalf, from a Catholic viewpoint, the Cardinal did
not fulfill his position as a Catholic in truly advancing the Catholic faith in France
not Protestantism. Instead of making France a united Catholic country as it once
was prior to the Revolt, he decided to make France both Catholic and Protestant.
Instead of fulfilling his vocation as a priest, he really acted as a Prime Minister in
France. Thus, again, failing to make France a Catholic nation. France was
considered the Eldest Daughter of the Church, but through Cardinal Richelieu, this
title slowly drifted away. Richelieu played a major role in the demise of the
Catholic faith in France. Oliver Cromwell was born in Huntingdon, England on April

Community s Non Profit Mental Health Organizations
At some point in our lives, we all questions our childhood beliefs. When I was
young, I saw mental conditions as an excuse people used to justify their poor
behaviour. In other words, I did not take them seriously because of how I was
raised. Since then, much has changed. I now realize that mental illness is an issue
that has to be dealt with in order to help our society grow as a whole. To do so, we
all need to support our community s non profit mental healthorganizations. Providing
support through improved access to qualified non governmental organizations is an
important action in dealing with the problems associated with mental illnesses that
adversely affect our community.
In today s society, people across the world are coming to a better understanding of
the problem of mental illness, and the need to provide help for those suffering with
mental health related issues in our communities. Sadly, this acceptance is still very
low worldwide. In Ontario, approximately 70% of mental health challenges have their
onset in childhood or youth. In other words 1 in 5 children and youth have a mental
health challenge (Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services, 2016).
When teenagers suffer from a behavioural, emotional or mental condition, their
esteem and love levels from the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs are affected. When
these levels are affected, self esteem, sense of feeling loved, and confidence are the
needs that are directly affected (The Alberta Teachers
Chief Gordon Ramsay, Marilyn Monroe, And Walt Disney
It s so hard to choose just three people to have dinner with from anybody in the
world. Do I choose past family member, famous people or dead people? Do I choose
historic people or rich people so they pay for the dinner? There are so many scientists,
athletes, politicians, president and artist who have changed our world for better or
worse. So many people I like from singers to actors from presidents to family
members. If I really had to choose just three people I would choose Gordon Ramsay,
Marilyn Monroe, and Walt Disney. The first person I choose is Chief Gordon
Ramsay. I really like Chef Ramsay, he seem like a really nice person and gets
business done when needed. Also I love all of his shows but my favorite show of his
is Hell s Kitchen .
An Authoritative And Popular Sources Essay
Report on Authoritative and Popular Sources
Are you seeking informational resources within the business community? If so, look
no further than the sources given in this report! I have selected three current
authoritative sources and one current popular source to share with you. Though there
are numerous authoritative sources in the business community, the three I selected
are Bloomberg Business, Harvard Business Review, and Forbes. For my current
popular source, I selected Investopedia. While analyzing both authoritative and
popular sources I will explain what makes them authoritative or popular, describe
their unique characteristics, and identify their intended purpose and audiences.
Bloomberg Business Week can be accessed online or through a weekly magazine
subscription. This source is authoritative in my discipline because the source is
maintained by a large dynamic editorial team consisting of twenty five individuals
all from unique backgrounds and locations that each bring differing experiences (
Editorial Team ). Some examples of this include Marc Champion, editor for internal
business affairs for The Wall Street Journal and Francis Barry, who was the director
of public affairs for New York City and a chief speech writer for New York City
Mayor Michael Bloomberg ( Editorial Team ). This source is also accepted
throughout the global business community as well as East Carolina University s

Introduction:
Roughly 68 percent of all American households play computer or video games. Of
this, 25 percent are under the age of 18. While the average age of a typical video game
player is 35, it does show a large number of individuals are playing video games
before college and while they are still at home, living with their parents and
attending grade school. Media misrepresents video games as a violent distraction for
its audiences. Stereotypes of games like Grand Theft Auto or Mortal Kombat have
dramatically changed the video game world.
When playing violent video games most players can distinguish the difference
between the game and reality, but for others their game and realities are the same.
According to Tom Mcgrath, violent shooting games might not be just a game to some

Cambodian Culture Vs American Culture Essay
Many people do notice at first, but I am half Asian. I practice both the American and
Asian cultures. My mother is Khmer and my dad is white. Khmer people come from
Cambodia which is a small part of Asia. There are many differences between
american and cambodian cultures, here are some of them.
The first noticeable difference are the kinds of foods. Some of american foods are,
burgers, hotdogs, and more others. Then the most popular cambodian foods are,
pho, spring rolls, and rice with different flavored soups. A normal american
breakfast would be something like, pancakes, and eggs with bacon. Traditional
cambodian breakfasts are, pho and a liquid rice soup with dry fish called, babawl.
Most americans eat steak, burgers, and rice with chicken for dinner. While
cambodians eat curry in banana leaves called amok, and the most popular food kuy
tieu, which is a noodle soup which meats and vegetables. Now my favorite, the
desserts. There s the american desserts like, ice cream, cake, and cookies. But
cambodian desserts are much different. There s this sweet juice with noodles that
are similar to spaghetti, there s taro ice cream, then my personal favorite is the
mochi ice creams. They are shaped in a circle, with dough wrapped around the ice
cream. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Americans can wear their shoes around the house, while cambodians have to take
their shoes off right when you get in the house because it shows a sign of respect.
One rule that I don t practice or believe in is the marriage. In America you get to
choose your partner based on love. In Cambodia your parents choose who you get
to marry based on who they like. Instead of going to church every Sunday like
americans, cambodians practice buddhism daily. The Buddha is like the cambodian

Redeeming Santa Claus
Santa Claus, is known by many names: Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris
Kringle and simply Santa . He is a figure that has been influenced by legend, myth,
folklore and most importantly for our purposes today. He wears red, is pulled
around on a sleigh by a bunch of reindeer and delivers presents to good children on
the 24th of December.
The purpose of my post is not to argue about whether or not to teach kids about the
full on mythical father Christmas; personally I think it is a bad idea to go along with
our culture on this; my friend Clint Archer does a good job of dealing with this
issue, click here to read it.
What I hope to do in this article is see if there is anything about Father Christmas
that can be redeemed. Now before you think my optimistic amillenialism has got the
best of me, please read on.
The portly, joyous, white bearded, bespectacled, red coat wearing, black leather belt
displaying man who carries gifts for children in a huge bad really became popular in
the USA and Canda in the 19th century . Thanks to the American media machine this
image has been maintained and promulgated in song, radio, TV, children s books and
films. This image was further entrenched in the 20th century, especially with big
corporations like Coka Cola taking Santa on board their advertising .
If we move back a few generations, some people say that the affinity Santa has for

My Experience On The Adventure Of My Life
There I was doing 65 mph, I was behind my dad going straight when we came to a
smooth curve I pulled in my brake a tad bit letting off the gas dropping down to
about 50mph when I went off the edge and at that moment fear took over me not
knowing if I was going to get hurt or go on the adventure of a lifetime! There I was
running home happier than I ever was before it was going to be the first day got to
go on a snowmobiletrip! I burst thru the front door of my house ran up to my
bedroom and got straight to packing packed a backpack with my cloths and a
dophile bag with my brand new helmet, gloves, jacket and snowpants carried my
bags downstairs and sat them in the mound of other bags from my brother and dad.
I helped my dad and brother carry all our stuff outside setting it into my dad s truck
we then backed up my dad s truck to our snowmobile trailer where we had already
had 3 snowmobiles loaded up we hooked up and pulled it to the front of our house.
We went inside and said goodbye to my mom and grabbed the final stuff we needed.
Afterwards we got in the truck it was right around 7:30pm , there was little to no snow
on the ground when we left kinda sad it being january at the time and we couldn t
even walk in 1 inch of snow at our house. after we left we, not even 20 minutes
away had fallen asleep. I remember waking up going down a road pulling up to a
gas station at around 10:00pm i looked out the window and saw mounds of snow in
the parking lot, also snow falling
Ridley Scott s Use of Mise-en-Scene to Convey Atmosphere...
There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a
whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile.
The film Gladiator was released in 2000. A thrilling action film, it was a huge
success, scooping five Oscars and earning over $427 million dollars. Sir Ridley Scott
who directed the film already had many great films to his name, such as Alien , Blade
Runner and American Gangster , so it was no surprise when this film became one of
the highest earners of the year 2000. The mise en scene used throughout was,
perhaps, behind the genius that made this film as much of a success today as it was
nine years ago.
An example of this in the opening sequence is the music. Beginning calm and gently,

adds an essence of vulnerability to a character that is more often than not,
perceived as the complete opposite. It is also used to emphasise the fact that
Maximus is the character the film will be based around. Following the close up,
there is a shot of a robin sitting on the branch of a tree, after a short while it flies
away, perhaps sensing danger. The shot is then back to Maximus, who is smiling
sadly, possibly at the thought of the robin being able to fly away from it all, when he
can t. The way that mise en scene has been used to depict a slight fear in the character
of Maximus, adds contrast to his personality, which in turn adds depth, leaving the
audience feeling able to connect to him. The music in this scene makes it almost
haunting as it creates a calm yet uneasy atmosphere. Maximus is wearing gold in this
which, not only continues the theme of gold, but also represents his authority. The
combination of this strong, powerful figure being slightly fearful at what lies ahead,
adds to the uneasy atmosphere. The lighting in the sequence is also a lot darker than
the previous which adds to the implication that the atmosphere is about to change,
this along with the non diegetic sounds like the wind blowing and the distant sound
of birds, help create a really dramatic, prominent sequence which leads on

The American Heart Association (2011) states that, Therapeutic hypothermiais the
only intervention demonstrated to improve neurologic recovery after cardiac arrest
(Pp 77). Recommendations range between 32 and 36 degrees centigrade for 12 to 36
hours. Cooling may be achieved through either introduction of cooled, isotonic, non
glucose containing fluid, or surface cooling interventions like ice packs or cold packs.
The AHA states, however, that patient core temperaturemust be monitored by an
esophageal thermometer, a pulmonary artery catheter, or a bladder catheter and that
peripheral temperature measurements via axillary, aural, or oral thermometers are
inadequate for measuring core temperatures in targeted temperature management.
Therefore, while the AHA does recommend initiation of therapeutic hypothermia by
EMS personnel in certain situations, agencies must carry and be trained in the use of
equipment to adequately measure the patient s core temperature. Further, the AHA
states that therapeutic hypothermia results in increased neurologic function post
cardiac arrest but does not identify a timeframe for initiation for these protocols, let
alone explore whether or not initiation of post cardiac arrest targeted temperature
management by EMS influences patient outcomes. According to a study published in

The Theme Of Plot In Sweat By Zora Hurston
In her short story Sweat , Zora Hurston uses plot to expose the theme that what goes
around comes around. Plot is an author s careful arrangement of incidents in a
narrative in order to achieve a desired effect. In Hurston s case, the desired effect is
shaping the theme of the story. Throughout Sweat , all of the events are carefully
thought out in order to show the reader that Sykes got what he deserved, therefore
creating the theme what goes around comes around. The main highlighted events in
this plotare the verbal conflict that Delia and Sykes have, the town scene where
Sykes is being discussed by local townspeople, Sykes bringing home a rattlesnake,
and Sykes getting bit by the snake.
The first major incident in the plot of Sweat is a verbal conflict between Delia and
Sykes in the beginning. It starts with Delia being scared with a bullwhip by Sykes.
She reacts in fear, saying, Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You
know it would skeer me... (Hurston). Delia and Sykes go back and forth about how
scared Delia is scared of snakes, and how Sykes purposely wants to scare her.
Delia, however, stays calm until she seizes a skillet and strikes a defensive pose.
Sykes is shocked, so he just leaves the house, slamming the gate after him
(Hurston). At this point in the story, the reader gets a good idea of the relationship
between Delia and Sykes. The reader knows Delia and Sykes are opposites, Sykes
badness outlines the good, hardworking side of Delia. This first scene serves as
rising action to get to know the life of Delia and Sykes. The theme is not yet clear,
because the plot is only beginning. However, Delia foreshadows Sykes fate at the
end of this part of Hurston s story. Delia thinks out loud before sleep when she says,
Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back, is got to come under his belly.
Sometime or ruther, Sykes, like everybody else, is gointer reap his sowing (Hurston).
The next scene of this story is the conversation the townspeople have. When they see
Delia, they spark a conversation about how badly Sykes treats Delia (Hurston). A
few of the townspeople comment angrily, He useter be so skeered uh lookin huh...We

Summary Of Oration On The Dignity Of Man
1a. Giovanni Pico della Mirandola says that human beings are free to become
whatever or whomever they may choose to be. In his work, Oration on the Dignity
of Man, Mirandola discusses how as a human being you have no limit or no bound
and may choose for yourself the limits and bounds of your nature He believes that
God created humans with no fixed position in life and that the choices they make
during their journey will define whether they fall into high or low positions on the
chain of life.
1b. Pico believes that human beings are free because they have the ability to choose
their own paths. In Oration on the Dignity of Man, he states that we should not
make that freedom of choice God gave us into something harmful, for it was
intended to be to our advantage. Representing that God created us as free beings in
having the freedom to choose. Later on in his work, he declares, Let a holy ambition
enter into our souls; let us not be content with mediocrity, but rather strive after the
highest and expend all our strength in achieving it. He regarded the most noble goal,
the goal to reach the highest position, in union to god. To choose to be next to God
was the greatest achievement.
1c. The ancient philosopher that was the most influential in Pico s beliefs was Plato.
His influence guided him away from the focus on civic life that had been such a
feature of earlier humanist thought and lead him to the belief than man could aspire
to union with God through the
1984 Is Relevant Today Essay
Despite 1984 being written more than 60 years ago, it is still relevant to this day.
The book 1984 contains many aspects that can still be relatable today. It also serves
as a warning for the future that still applies today. One way that 1984 is still
relevant today is that the book deals with surveillance. In today s world
surveillance is an important issue since due to the increased use of technology it is
easier to monitor people. In 1984 the government uses telescreens and other
technology to watch and listen in on it s citizens to make sure they are not doing
anything that the party disapproves of. One of the famous lines in the book is even
Big Brother is watching you , which means that the party is watching what everyone
does. All of this is relevant since in today s world the U.S. government does monitor
what its citizens do online somewhat. This shows that the fear of always being
watched is valid fear and something people should be concerned about.... Show more

This is shown in the book by the proles not seeming to know much about or

government. When people go to vote there are some that don t know about every
person that is running for a position in government. People also aren t as involved
in issues as they should be. The book 1984 is also relevant today since it deals with
freedom. In the book it has the thought police, which tries to find people who think
things outside of what the party wants them to think. The government tries to control
everything in its citizens lives. The book tries to show how important freedom of
thought and speech are to have. Today people don t always make use of the freedoms

Adoption Is A Second Chance For A Child s Life
Miracle
Adoption is a second chance any orphan child would dream of, and for the person
or people adopting the child it is a great chance to form that miracle family any
person would want. Their whole life will turn around in a 360 motion and it is a big
deal. It is an opportunity that should be taken seriously, and the adoptive parents
should do research before having a child in their care. Each child is unique and has a
different background story. Many adoptive parents are taking advantage process of
the adopting and not understanding the responsibility of having the child in their
care. Adoption is more than child placement, said Adam Pertman, executive director

Also, they are the ones that have control of the situation that affect the child s life.
The adoptive parents should be thankful that they are given the chance to adopt but
instead they are deporting these children, using the child for labor that is inhumane,
and are taking advantage of government benefits.
Problem
Now a days, adoptive parents are sending the child back to their foster home
because they have a mental illness or a health problem and the parents do not want
to be responsible to take care of them. Some of the parents feel that is too much to
handle and they are not willing to give the child a chance. For example, an article
from New York Post said that a couple wanted to cancel their adoption of young girl

Trojan War Tactics
Analyse the effectiveness of the tactics used by both sides in the Trojan War.
____________________________________________________________
___
The Trojan war was a ten year siege on the city of the city of Troy at the hands of
the Greek forces led by a psychopathic king, Agamemnon. This conflict, which took
place about 1200 B.C has become one of the most well known Greek mythology
events in history. In the 13th century B.C, Troy and Sparta had stopped their wars
and become allies, this was until Paris the youngest prince of Troy seduced Helen,
the Queen of Sparta and left with her back to Troy. When Menelaos (The King of
Sparta) found out what had happened, he vowed ... Show more content on

The leaders would then come forward on their chariots and challenge each other to
single combat. This was a common method of warfare. It allows for true heroes to be
shown and depicts the power of the leaders.
The soldiers would enter the battle in chariots, launching javelins into the enemy
formations, then dismount for hand to hand combat with more javelin throwing, rock
throwing, and hand to hand sword and shield fighting. In the Iliad Homer also
mentions the use of the phalanx formation being used by the Greeks. The phalanx is
a rectangular mass military formation, usually composed entirely of heavy infantry
armed with spears, pikes, or similar weapons . Scholars suggest that the Greeks would
have used this tactic because the alignment of shields minimises the chances of
projectiles hitting the men, and the men can move as one, strong unit.
In book 4 of Homer s Iliad, a major battle in the war is described in detail. After the
armies have gathered together all there available forces, they began to march
towards each other. The Achaean forces moved forward towards the Trojans
covering the horizon with the sight of eminent war. As the Greeks moved forward
they unknowingly ventured into the range of the Trojan archers, who were some of
the finest in the known world. As the Greeks were held back by the range of the
Trojan archers, they were quickly losing men and morale so Agamemnon made the
decision to withdraw from
Analysis Of Clocks And Lovers
Timely Indulgence Often, the history behind love stories has two if not more
sides. Both sides of this story can be seen in W.H. Auden s poem Clocks and
Lovers, in which each side has a different attitude. The attitudes of the clocks differs
greatly from that of the lover, with opposite points of view. Both attitudes relate to
separate groups of people and are shown simply through analysis of the poem,
because the poet uses literary devicesto emphasize both perspectives. While the lover
overzealously believes his lovecan transcend time, the clocks counter by stating that
time s relentlessness erodes all.
The overzealous beliefs brought about by love can be seen in the attitude of the
lover, who acts as though his love will never die and can never be changed by
time. When speaking to his lover, he says I ll love you, dear, I ll love you / Till
China and Africa meet / And the river jumps over the mountain / And the salmon
sing in the street. The last three lines of this stanza are hyperboles, giving the lover
emphasis on how his love will die only when the absolutely impossible happens;
therefore, he believes it is impossible for his love to die. In this stanza imagery is
the upfront literary device, as is seen when Auden uses strong phrases such as
salmon sing and river jumps to create an image of the impossible occurring to add to
the unrealistic attitude of the lover. Impossible events continue to occur when the
lover says I ll love you till the ocean /
Essay on Purple Loosestrife
Purple Loosestrife
The scene is breathtakingly beautiful, a thick brush of purple flowers blankets
Canada s wetlands. This blanket silences the expected sounds of the wetland
environment, birds chirping, ducks splashing, insects buzzing and animals thriving.
This unnatural silence is disturbing, the favourite flowers that used to litter this
landscape are no longer visible, the water that used to ripple continuously is perfectly
still. The wetland is dead, except for this overpowering, hardy purple flower that has
choked out all other vegetation and species. Purple loosestrife now controls this
landscape.

Case Analysis on San Fabian Supply Company
Case Analysis on San Fabian Supply Company (Philippines)
The San Fabian Supply Company is a building materials distributor which supplies
the materials to the Philippine construction industry mainly on an exclusive only
basis. Now one of its suppliers MacDowell Corporation notified San Fabian Supply
Company that the exclusive distributor agreement would be terminated in four
months. So the company has to make a decision whether to handle MacDowell
Corporation s products on a nonexclusive basis or to drop the line completely. As
discussed in our group, we think San Fabian Supply Company and MacDowell
Corporation should find a way to accomplish win win, and selective distribution may
be a good way.

However, MacDowell Corporation believes that changing the relationship with San

Henry VIII And Louis XIV Essay
Henry VIII and Louis XIV
Henry VIII and Louis XIV were both men whose accomplishments on a national
level for their respective countries of England and France were great, but whose very
different personal problems gave them a negative impression in history. The two
leaders had very different ruling styles, but with a few similar themes throughout.
Perhaps the best thing to look at first is their very different attitudes toward God and
GodВ№s power in monarchy and state. Henry
VIII on England grew up as a very strong Catholic, at the insistence of his mother
and father. He was known to be Віa man of daily devotionals, setting an example for
his peopleВІ (Canon 76). His own writings, most especially a book of ... Show more

This war, which ended in 1714, left France exhausted and weakened.
Both men had a common ability to see the goodness in other men as royal advisors.
Both hired surprisingly intelligent and wise men to run their affairs for them, perhaps
Henry even more than Louis XIV. One of HenryВ№s chief advisors is immortalized
in ShakespeareВ№s ВіThe Life and Times of Kind Henry VIIIВІ.
Cardinal Wolsey is spoken of there as Віa man such as history had never yet laid
their eyes upon, a man who could have others get his own will enforcedВІ
(Shakespeare 78). Wolsey spent little time at the British court, but the time he spent
was valuable. He served as chief advisor to a young, newly crowned, and
impressionable King Henry. He formed HenryВ№s ideas about government, spoke
for the monarch in assembly, and reputedly taught Henry everything he knew about
economics from an early age. Two other advisors are also known to history as
serving in HenryВ№s later life, Thomas Cromwell and Thomas More.
Likewise, Louis XIV, in a mark of true genius, was wise enough to appoint someone
wiser than himself to run the government. He had many, and oddly, most of their
names have been erased from history. Jean Baptise Colbert, advisor to Louis in his
formative years as a monarch, later wrote in prison, Ві

Alex La Guma
In Alex La Guma s book A Walk in the Night, the story is presented in third person
omniscient. By using this point of view, the audience is able to know the thoughts
and feelings of all the characters presented in this story. The strategy La Guma uses
throughout the book is imagery. Through descriptive details of characters along with
their thoughts and actions, the author is able to emphasize the living conditions and
social injustice of non whites from the whites during this time in South Africa. La
Guma uses imagery to demonstrate to the audience that change needs to happen.
When La Guma introduces a character, he dedicates a powerful description that
allows the audience to visualize the character as if the character were standing in
front of the reader. For example, when describing Michael Adonis, he used rich
language to emphasize his appearance: ... dark curly hair, slightly brittle but not quite

The Immigration Issue Of Immigration
Immigration is one hot topic in today s conversation and society. Many think that
immigrants coming to America are taking many jobs away from who need them.
Some also think that there are jobs being taken away are not ones that Americans
would not perform due to the horrible working conditions, low pay, and lack of
important medical coverage. The immigrationissue has come to a point where the
United States must make a decision to spend a lot of money to curtail the amount of
immigrants coming here.
Immigrants are not necessarily taking jobs away from the hard American worker.
The work occupations that the immigrants take are illegal for any legal (licensed)
employer to employ any American worker. The typical job sites that would be
including but not limited to: unsanitary working conditions, dangerous equipment
without proper safety precautions, extremely long working days, and less than
minimum wage for work rendered. There is not one citizen in this country that
would stand for such an outrageous environment to work in or work for a
company that allows it to happen. Many citizens would go directly to an inspection
board to have the factory and/or plant evaluated to see if the factory could pass any
sort of inspection for the welfare of the workers. Hence, the factory/plant would be
closed down and there would be even fewer jobs for Americans.
Immigrants are a growing part of the labor force. As the foreign born population has
grown as a share of the total population,
How Personal Responsibility Will Lead to My Success Essay
How Personal Responsibility Will Lead to My Success

successes in your life but also your downfalls. If a person can do this they will not
only be successful in their education but in their careers and life in general. Even
though some people who lack personal responsibility do just fine in life, personal
responsibility will lead to my success in and beyond school because it gives me the
confidence to succeed, and will lead to a better life for my family and me.

Personal responsibility also gives myself no one else, or anything else to blame
for my short comings when my procrastination comes up to bite me in the butt.
Procrastination is still a major factor I am working on improving day to day. It has
always been something that I have had to make a conscious effort to avoid and
improve upon. If I am able to conquer that downfall I believe there is nothing that
will be able to stop me in gaining my degree and moving onto a career that I will
love to do. Another effect of being personally responsible is that it will lead to
success in my career. The first thing that will contribute to this is that personally
responsibility will have led to my success in school giving myself a foundation to
succeed in my career of choice. The tools that it taught me in school can also be
implemented in the work place. Being able to utilize these same methods that
helped in school are an invaluable tool to also being able to succeed in the
workplace, not only in getting a job, but maintaining a job and moving up within
the chosen career path. Lastly personal responsibility will allow me to better
provide for my family giving us a better life. All my previous points about being
personally responsible in school and work all lead into this final point that it will
give my family and myself a better more secure life. Now some people in this world
lack personal responsibility and do just fine, but what is the
Electronic Monitoring System For The Correctional

The concept of Electronic Monitoring offenders was first originated by Dr. Robert
Schweitzgebel in the 1960s when he while a Harvard University designed a trial
product of an electronic monitoring system. Even though Dr. Schweitzgebel made
this invention in the 1960s; however, it took many years to have the system been
used by the departments of correction. At first, the intent of Dr. Schweitzgebel was
to allow the population of the correctional facilities to not be saturated by many
people at once and to rehabilitate those whose self esteem suffered from losing their
liberties and free will. The objectives of this system or alternative was intended to
reduce the amount of money the tax payers were paying to house inmates in the...

Review of Literature:
This futuristic alternative to monitored perpetrators was first initiated in the State of
Massachusetts which in 2005 began using the full GPS bracelet (The Office of
Commissioner of Probation, 2014). Electronic monitoring provides the governments
with an alternative to prevent the overcrowding of correctional facilities within a
country. At the same time it provides the governments with additional ways to
counter attack the ways the criminal justice system can deal with perpetrators after
court proceedings are completed. The idea is to work out a way to keep a given
community safely, but at the same time to give the perpetrators with an opportunity
to be able to rehabilitate and to better themselves and becoming a productive member
of the community and their families.
The government states that electronic monitoring still is way inexpensive than
housing a perpetrator in a correctional facility. However, when the government takes
into consideration all the pieces involving the monitoring of a person within a
jurisdiction and all the pieces needed to make this happen then it can be quiet
expensive monetarily and with safety concerns. Can the government accurately

The Giver Pros And Cons
The Giver The Giver is a book written by Lois Lowry, based on a youngster named
Jonas who lives in a utopian society. Also, known as a perfect world. And in this
perfect world that Jonas lives in, there are no memories, no pain, no color, no
feelings, and no love. Jonas thought that this way of life was best. But Jonas opinion
on the world changed as soon as he had been selected to be the new receiver of
memories. Through the book The Giver, Lois Lowryis trying to portray that we learn
from memories and gain wisdom. Through the memories Jonas gains, he gains
wisdom about individuality, and mistakes that have been done in the past but since
we have learned about the cons we make sure that we do not do it again.

Vyse and a new Partnership The evolving partnership of Charles Vyse and Barbara
Waller (1949 1951) would prove to be exacting and industrious. Working at the
Cheyne Row studio they produced a number of animal and figure models, alongside
a range of Chinese inspired high fired, ash glazed stoneware vessels. Whether by
design or accident, much of the figurative work of Vyse and Waller partnership,
would in the future, prove problematical for collectors. However, at this remove, it is
difficult to attribute some figures and vessels, either jointly or individually.
Furthermore, it is impossible to assign specific tasks, such as modelling, decorating,
and glazing, to either of the partners. To compound the conflict of attribution, there
are occasions when both Vyse and Waller have exhibited the same figure,

Also an explanation of the rationale of a relatively small period collaborative work,
exhibited singly and jointly by Vyse and Waller, will involve the reader in a certain
amount of time travelling. It would appear that such was the working relationship
of Vyse and Miss Waller that they thought little of interpreting each other s work as
they saw to be artistically appropriate. For instance, in the illustration Fig. 168,
Miss Waller appears to be working on the clay model of a Shire horse. However,
archived in the modern ceramic collection of the V A museum is a Temmoku

therefore, the edition of Shire horse, conserved in the modern ceramic collection of

been slip cast and fired to the biscuit state, it was Temmoku
Benir V. Alba
Legal Opinion on the Benir v. Alba Case
(Benir)
On the present case being addressed to the International Court of Justice in dealing
with the matter of sovereignty over the Island of Manca, the issue of legality
belonging to which side of the parties at dispute is put forward. The problem
however, lies in, the period at which the dispute took place, for International law has
not evolved at that time unlike in this day and age.
The Statement of fact is as follows:
The Island of Manca, small in size and blessed by temperature vegetation, has been

2.After clarifying the former point to the court, the second and most crucial element
to shed light on is Territorial Acquisition. As demonstrated before in the Island of
Palmas Case before, there must be evidence as to a peaceful and continuous display
of sovereignty on the territory; it should also be a public and enduring practice. In
the case of Benir, there is enough evidence to prove a peaceful and continuous
display of its sovereignty existed and still does, it established state control, managed
good relations with the natives (through intermarriage), as they coexisted peacefully,
and it was willing to protect the rights of other states in peace and in war, as well as
offer for the safeguarding of the rights of non nationals residing in it, however this is
an infrequent happening since the island is small in size. Thus, a peaceful
atmosphere was provided for continuously by the Beniris, with only one exception at

An Analysis Of Blue-Collar Billiance By Mike Rose

Brilliance that working class citizens have often been overlooked in terms of
intelligence, but that they hold a great deal of skills and ideas they gain from their
respective lines of work. Rose describes several jobs considered to be clue collar
and evaluates and describes the intelligence that is required and also how they
apply it. Rose assesses each job and explains to readers why each job holds a level
of cognitive sense. Though it is commonly thought that blue collar workers hold less
intelligence due to their lack of schooling, Rose defends this idea with bold
arguments. Rose begins the article describing his mother as a waitress and how she

His mother states, There isn t a day that goes by in the restaurant that you don t

floor to schooling explaining that it is a place where you re constantly learning
(as cited in Rose, 2012, p. #). Both comparisons reference the idea of learning while
working and how blue collar workers are always updating their knowledge. These
examples are critical in this piece because they shine light on how often blue collar
workers activate their brains reinforcing Rose s entire claim. In an article titled
Brainpower and Bankruptcy by Wilson Quarterly, the idea that intelligence isn t
dependent on wealth is argued. Quarterly examines different IQ scores among
varying incomes and argues that having a high IQ tends to put one in more
financial distress. Quarterly states that Intelligence alone doesn t explain why
individuals succeed or fail in economic life. This quote is a critical argument that
supports Rose s claim. Throughout Rose s article his main idea is that a blue
collar worker, receiving a low income, tends to hold more intelligence than typically
perceived. Rose also compares different blue collar jobs explaining the differences
in what intelligence is being used. When analyzing each job and the tasks they do,
he also includes important information on how blue collar workers apply their
knowledge learned from working to become more efficient employees. Each job is

aside for the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, (Carson, 1987). Government
agencies In the United Statesare closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Federal Holiday. Children all over the country celebrate a day off from school each

King is remembered because of the Montgomery bus boycott, and Rosa Parks
being arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white person, she was a part of
the bus boycott as well (Faragher, Buhle, Czitrom, Armitage, 2009). Dr. King led
the boycott in Montgomery bus system that lasted over a year (Faragher et al.,
2009). Due to the boycott, White and African Americans in 2016, can sit together
and ride the buses together without any hostility or violence. Several movement
activists today view Dr. King as one of the most conspicuous among some of the
most exceptional movement tacticians, ideologues, and strategists, influential
leaders in the United States (Carson, 1987). In addition, Dr. King is known as a
Civil Rights leader, which stood behind President Johnson as he signed the Civil
Rights Bill in 1964 (Columbia Southern University (CSU) n.d.). I have expounded
on how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr has left a lifelong legacy that is still bringing
about change in the world we live in today. As well as the many events that are
taking place yearly in his honor, in addition to his Federal Holiday that is being
celebrated throughout the United States of America every year. Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr, is not only remembered in our society in the United States, but his legacy

Las MeninasLas Meninas is a famous painting by Diego Velazquez and has had 58
renditions by Pablo Picasso. Both painters are known for their remarkable
paintings each from different eras. Before I go on to dissect the paintings, I ll give
you some key background information on the two artists. Velazquez was born in
1599 and died on August 6th, 1660 whereas Picasso was born on October 25th,
1881 and died on April 8th, 1973. Therefore you can tell that there will of course
be some differences in their paintings especially the meaning behind them because
they were born in separate time periods. Both were fairly old, Velazquez was 61
when he passed away and Picasso was 92. Velazquez was 57 when he made this
painting so his life was coming close to an end, whether he knew it or not. It could
have influenced his perspective on the painting. Picasso was 70 when he did his first
rendition of Las Meninas so by that time he had done a lot of artwork and still had
some life left, so his experience and time could have influenced it as well. Despite
the time difference between Velazquez s painting and this version of Picasso s
painting, there are some similarities. The backgrounds are both black, maybe it was a
good background color for both of them. Velazquez could have done it to represent
the room the princess was in. Picasso could have done it because of the colors he
used for the princess since they were mainly bright like white and yellow. In both

A church whose pastor and others in leadership have failed to put in place a
proactive plan for discipleship for Believers is usually a growing church growing
stagnant, growing cold, growing spiritually immature Christians, and eventually,
many growing closed. Patte said, There is much at stake in accepting or rejecting
the challenge of discipleship... When a pastor or a church makes a conscious
decision to make discipleship of Believers a primary focus in their ... Show more

The parent or mature Christian is fully engaged in the mission of Jesus Christ. People
who are in this stage are those who are witnessing and discipling others, in the same
manner that he or she was discipled. They are looking out for the immature
Christians, and taking them under their wing to encourage, listen to, and strengthen
them to maturity in Christ.
The four spheres of relationships are as follows; the relationship with God, the
relationship with family or home, relationship with church and believers, and the
relationship with the world. The most important sphere is the relationship with God.
This sphere or the relationship with God needs to be vibrant, fresh, and personal. All
of the other spheres will work or be in line when our relationship with God is in line.
The sphere dealing with the home can be taxing at times. The relationship here is
much easier when everyone in the home are Christians. However, if dad is a
Christian and mom is not, or vice versa, or perhaps a child or children surrender
their lives to the calling of Jesus, and mom and dad have not, family relationships
and harmony in the home can become much more difficult. Paul writes about how
the relationships in the home should be. He talks about how each person should
deal with the other. The book of Genesis tells us the story of Noah and how he was
a successful father and husband. He was able to reach his entire family for God. It
was his family that was saved
The Importance Of The Executive Branch In The United
States
The government of the United States of America has been around for over 2
centuries, in this time the original setup has been little altered. The government is
composed of three individual branches: judicial, executive, and legislative branches.
All three branches are held together using a system of checks and balances. While
each branch has some kind of trump or has control over another branch, some
branches are arguably more powerful than others. The main focus of this paper will
be on where the executivebranch stands power wise. When our founding fathers first
started building our nation from the dust, they had in mind a system of branches
where no one branch was more powerful than the others. The decision of whether or
not they hit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s right congress seems to have a grudge of sorts on the executive branch. This
could be from a number of things, it could be that they see the president as some
annoying co worker that just deleted their last months project, every time the
president vetos. We all know this must be frusterating be cause im sure we have all
been in their place. And if congress breathing down his neck wasnt bad enough, one
of the only checks that the executive branch has can be overridden. That means that
the thing that is supposed to stope legislation from passing can be passed. Which isn
t tha tbad of a thing because if congress passes legislation which means there is
aleady a majority. So when one man says no and then even more men say yes i think
we can all see where the real preoblem
Why People Learn Other Languages
It is known that every human, since the moment they born, have a natural tendency to
learn a mother language, if there is a continuous interaction in their communicative
context. Krashen Theory Along the history, all the learning mechanism have been
analyzed and many other theories have appeared to determine the reason why
people learn other languages. One of those theories is the theory of The Monitor
Model by S. Krashen (1985), which has 5 hypotheses. Acquisition Learning
Hypothesis The first hypothesis and the core of this theory is the acquisition learning
hypothesis. It claims that there are two independent ways to dominate a second
language: by acquisition and by learning. The acquisition is an automatic process
which is developed in the subconscious level, driven by the need of communication,
very similar to the process of assimilation that happens with the acquisition of the
first or mother language. Acquisition is basically the result of a natural
communication where the learner is focused mainly on the meaning. It is also
considered a implicit way of learning or picking up language, where the formal
teaching does not help, but it is more relevant and crucial in the development of
second language execution. On the other side there is the learning process, which
according to Krashen (1985) is an conscious process, as a result of learning a
language, its grammatical aspects and formal features, therefore knowing about the
language.Acquisition and learning have
Catalase Enzyme Activity Analysis
The catalase enzyme is so critical to our health that it is found in nearly every living
organism on the planet that is exposed to oxygen. This antioxidant enzyme can
catalyze the conversion of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Hydrogen
peroxide is a by product of cell metabolism, which serves some useful functions
including healthy immune response. (Group, 2013) Catalasehas one of the highest
rates of turnover when compared to all other enzymes. In other words, one catalase
enzymecan change 40 million molecules of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen
in just one second. In fact, catalase enzymes act to protect our cells, counteracting and
balancing the continual production of hydrogen peroxide. Because of its undeniable,
scientifically proven... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research scientists from the University of Washington in Seattle conducted a lab
study on rats and the augmentation of natural catalase in their bodies. By
supplementing with increased catalase, the life span of these laboratory rats
increased by almost 20%. This is the equivalent of nearly 25 human years. (Group,
2013) Dr. David Sinclair of Harvard Medical School stated in The Scientist
Magazine that there is a direct link between the catalase enzyme, free radical
damage and extending our life span. This also suggests that the catalase enzyme
may help ward off degenerative diseases. Similarly, studies done in Russia and
Spain also show a correlation between these types of enzymes and the prolongation
of life. In 2005, Spanish scientists found that very high servings of apple polyphenols
boosted the gene expression of natural catalase in the body. Studies from China on
apple polyphenol also confirmed significantly increased catalase. (Group, 2013)
The production and purification of catalase enzyme is economical and cost effective.
There are many health benefits associated with catalase including reduced fat,
increased life span and the reduction of grey hair. As hydrogen Peroxide is
dangerous in the human body, catalase eliminates H_2 0_2. Overall, I recommend
that catalase is produced by
Arama Ancient Egyptians
By 7000 BC, some of the earliest recorded farmers had settled in Beidha, a pre
pottery settlement just north of Petra.[11] Petra is listed in Egyptian campaign
accounts and the Amarna letters as Pel, Sela or Seir. Though the city was founded
relatively late, a sanctuary has existed there since very ancient times. Stations 19
through 26 of the stations list of Exodus are places associated with Petra.[12] This
part of the country was biblically assigned to the Horites, the predecessors of the
Edomites.[13] The habits of the original natives may have influenced the Nabataean
custom of burying the dead and offering worship in half excavated caves. Although
Petra is usually identified with Sela, which means a rock, the Biblical references[14]

Two types of tombs have been distinguished: the Nabataean and the Greco Roman.
The Nabataean type starts from the simple pylon tomb with a door set in a tower
crowned by a parapet ornament, in imitation of the front of a dwelling house.
Then, after passing through various stages, the full Nabataean type is reached,
retaining all the native features and at the same time exhibiting characteristics
which are partly Egyptian and partly Greek. Of this type close parallels exist in the
tomb towers at Mada in Saleh in north Arabia, which bear long Nabataean
inscriptions and supply a date for the corresponding monuments at Petra. Then
comes a series of tombfronts which terminate in a semicircular arch, a feature
derived from north Syria. Finally come the elaborate façades copied from the
front of a Roman temple; however, all traces of native style have vanished. The
exact dates of the stages in this development cannot be fixed. Few inscriptions of
any length have been found at Petra, perhaps because they have perished with the
stucco or cement which was used upon many of the buildings. The simple pylon
tombs which belong to the pre Hellenic age serve as evidence for the earliest period.
It is not known how far back in this stage the Nabataean settlement goes, but it does
not go back farther than the 6th century BC. A period follows in which the dominant
Theme Of To Build A Fire
To Build a Fire begins with a man going on a Yukon trail. He gets to a layer of ice.
He walks on the ice to test it, and then he falls through. He then tries to make a fire.
It fails and he tries again, but stull fails. He attempts to run to the camp. He is not
able to and dies. One theme from To build a fire is to listen to experienced people.
The first way the theme is developed is the man doesn t listen to the old timer at
sulfur creek. In a paragraph in the beginning, he says the old timer told him not to
ever go alone on a trail in below 50 degrees weather. It is dangerous to go alone. He
says you should have a partner at least that way you would not be alone. He does not
listen. The next way the theme is developed
The Human Body, A Biological Organization Of

Introduction The human body, a biological organization of physiological cascades, is
surprisingly fragile but yet highly adaptable to withstand the varying challenges
encountered in the lifetime of an individual. From chronic illnesses to acute and
rapidly changing events, the integrated cooperation between human organ systems
can dramatically influence the potential outcomes of a patient. It is multiple
deployments of singular compensatory mechanisms in response to abnormal changes
that provides this infinite flexibility. While this continuous flexibility is illustrated in
lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, its role in acute attention
demanding events are remarkable. An example of such an attention demanding

Hemothoraxes, however, have also been documented to occur in cases of improper
needle chest decompression or catheter insertion, complication following thoracic
surgery and various blood disorders.
Cases of hemothoraxes have occurred in a range of ages from neonatal to geriatric,
however, clinical indications are often universal and only require simple imagery
equipment in order to precisely identify. While hemothoraxes are uncommon events
in comparison to pneumothoraxes and the presentation of some clinical signs and
symptoms are similar. Clinical signs of tracheal deviation oppose to the affected side

toward a pleural effusion but does not differentiate between hemothorax and
pneumothorax. The use of computed tomography and sonography, however, are the
simplest and most accurate methods to rapidly access the condition as the pooling of
blood within the pulmonary cavity is a distant contrast from normal.
The physiological stresses of hemothorax compared to pneunothorax on the human
body differs greatly for the cardiovascular system while is near identical for the
respiratory system.

Man Vs Nature Vs Of Mice And Men
There are different types of conflict, the conflict such as Man .vs. Nature, Man.vs.
Man, and Person .vs. Self these types of conflicts show the struggle people have to
go succeed a goal, dream or just to survive. In the poem Ode to a Mouse by Robert
Burns and the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, both authors use the
literary element, Conflict to show the struggles of the characters. In California
during the Great Depression, Lennie Small and George Milton are two ranch
workers going from job to job with the dream of saving enough money to purchase
their own land to live on the fatta the land . As events unfold in the novel, George,

Everyone needs something to look forward too, and in the poem and in the novel
of mice and men, none of those dreams are realized because of the conflict with
Lennie always getting in trouble. Although George and Lennie were close to their
dream, it becomes impossible due to the constant conflict of Lennie getting in
trouble and the narrator of Ode to a Mouse destroying the mouse s winter home. In
the novel Of Mice and Men, Lennie is constantly battling himself. throughout the
story, Lennie must learn and remember to fit in with the other characters who are

  • 2. Diversity In The Workplace. . Diversity In The Workplace Diversity in the Workplace Diversity in the workplace is imperative even though some commentators argue that too much diversity can be negative. Diversity can lead to staff feeling threatened or even annoyed by persons with views and backgrounds different from their own (Barsoux, Strebel and Manzoni, 2010). Instead of inclusivity, diversity can end up causing conflicts, as some staff are reluctant in changing their viewpoints and are less adaptable to change. The discourse relating to diversity also applies to senior high skilled professionals. As there has been various discussion over the years to introduce quotas at board level, to assist those from underrepresented backgrounds. If individuals are selected to become directors based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trying to exclude diverse people from the workforce will essentially exclude them from society, which is not only regressive and divisive but it would send the economy into turmoil as a result of how diverse the UK is. Besides, a lack of diversity will lead to less innovative strategies as different individuals from different backgrounds wield different experiences and viewpoints. It is argued that If an organization does not leverage the potent weapon of diversity, it risks limiting its creative potential and ultimately losing its competitive edge (Ey.com, 2017). To ensure that diversity is not undermined in the workplace the Equality Act was enacted. The Equality Act, prohibits positive discrimination, but it does allow for positive action. Positive action is when an employer takes steps to help or encourage certain groups of people with different needs, or who are disadvantaged in some way, access work of training (citizensadvice.org.uk, 2017). Positive action is quite beneficial as it enables marginalised groups access to employment, in which they historically did not have access too. The Equality Act prohibits direct and indirect discrimination and harassment and victimisation to individuals with a protected characteristic. The protected characteristics are age, disability, sex, sexual orientation,

I have witnessed many downfalls the people I support experience in their everyday lives. From restaurants not being accommodating to the needs of those I support, people discriminating against those with developmental and intellectual disabilities, to doctors saying people with disabilities are a waste of time. I have witnessed all these issues and matters first hand and it breaks my heart that these issues still arise. I could go on and on all day long about the issues and experiences I have witnessed while assisting those I care for in the community. According to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), ... You have no choice but to sit there and smile and act like nothing is happen when in fact there is. When an issue like this arises something needs to be done. Discrimination against people with disabilities is supposed to be protected under the Title III Civil Rights Act. So many issues have gone unreported. People with any type of disability are just like you and I. You know that old saying treat others the way you would want to be treated? Well, this comes to play in this situation. At any given point in time we could end up with a disability. According to CDC Director Tom Frieden, M.D., M.P.H., we are all at risk of having disability at some point in our lifetime (CDC, 2015). Just put yourselves into the shoes of those who are disabled. Do you think they wanted to be that way? No, they did not. Some serious accident or health issue happened and their lives

At this time, Europe was not very virtuous and respectable. This is because at this time, the Protestant Revolt nearly destroyed the Catholic Church. In addition to this, European politics were compromised by religious struggles which laid the foundation for the Thirty Years War. Though there were numerous events that occurred in sixteenth century Europe that are worth noting, this essay will focus on three individuals who heavily influenced history in the West. The essay will not only describe the lives and careers of these men, but the roles each one played in trying to advance, or in some cases, destroy, the Catholic Church in the sixteenth century.... Many Catholics, including the queen mother, regarded Huguenots... as the enemy and insisted that they be dealt with (Armand Jean du Plessis de Richelieu Biography, Encyclopedia of World Biography internet). To certain degree, the cardinal agreed with them and ...cooperated on a program of reforms...and he allowed the Huguenots to continue practicing their religion as long as they stayed loyal to the king (Armand Jean du Plessis de Richelieu Biography, Encyclopedia of World Biography internet). Though this seems to be a generous action on Richelieu s behalf, from a Catholic viewpoint, the Cardinal did not fulfill his position as a Catholic in truly advancing the Catholic faith in France not Protestantism. Instead of making France a united Catholic country as it once was prior to the Revolt, he decided to make France both Catholic and Protestant. Instead of fulfilling his vocation as a priest, he really acted as a Prime Minister in France. Thus, again, failing to make France a Catholic nation. France was considered the Eldest Daughter of the Church, but through Cardinal Richelieu, this title slowly drifted away. Richelieu played a major role in the demise of the Catholic faith in France. When I was young, I saw mental conditions as an excuse people used to justify their poor behaviour. In other words, I did not take them seriously because of how I was raised. Since then, much has changed. I now realize that mental illness is an issue that has to be dealt with in order to help our society grow as a whole. To do so, we all need to support our community s non profit mental healthorganizations. Providing support through improved access to qualified non governmental organizations is an important action in dealing with the problems associated with mental illnesses that adversely affect our community. In today s society, people across the world are coming to a better understanding of the problem of mental illness, and the need to provide help for those suffering with mental health related issues in our communities. Sadly, this acceptance is still very low worldwide. In Ontario, approximately 70% of mental health challenges have their onset in childhood or youth. In other words 1 in 5 children and youth have a mental health challenge (Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services, 2016). When teenagers suffer from a behavioural, emotional or mental condition, their esteem and love levels from the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs are affected. When these levels are affected, self esteem, sense of feeling loved, and confidence are the needs that are directly affected (The Alberta Teachers

While cambodians eat curry in banana leaves called amok, and the most popular food kuy tieu, which is a noodle soup which meats and vegetables. Now my favorite, the desserts. There s the american desserts like, ice cream, cake, and cookies. But cambodian desserts are much different. He is a figure that has been influenced by legend, myth, folklore and most importantly for our purposes today. He wears red, is pulled around on a sleigh by a bunch of reindeer and delivers presents to good children on the 24th of December. The purpose of my post is not to argue about whether or not to teach kids about the full on mythical father Christmas; personally I think it is a bad idea to go along with our culture on this; my friend Clint Archer does a good job of dealing with this issue, click here to read it. • 14. Ridley Scott s Use of Mise-en-Scene to Convey Atmosphere... There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile. The film Gladiator was released in 2000. A thrilling action film, it was a huge success, scooping five Oscars and earning over $427 million dollars. Sir Ridley Scott who directed the film already had many great films to his name, such as Alien , Blade Runner and American Gangster , so it was no surprise when this film became one of the highest earners of the year 2000. The mise en scene used throughout was, perhaps, behind the genius that made this film as much of a success today as it was nine years ago. An example of this in the opening sequence is the music. There is a close up of his face, which allows the viewer to see every emotion, which adds an essence of vulnerability to a character that is more often than not, perceived as the complete opposite. It is also used to emphasise the fact that Maximus is the character the film will be based around. Following the close up, there is a shot of a robin sitting on the branch of a tree, after a short while it flies away, perhaps sensing danger. The shot is then back to Maximus, who is smiling sadly, possibly at the thought of the robin being able to fly away from it all, when he can t. The way that mise en scene has been used to depict a slight fear in the character of Maximus, adds contrast to his personality, which in turn adds depth, leaving the audience feeling able to connect to him. The music in this scene makes it almost haunting as it creates a calm yet uneasy atmosphere. Maximus is wearing gold in this which, not only continues the theme of gold, but also represents his authority. The combination of this strong, powerful figure being slightly fearful at what lies ahead, adds to the uneasy atmosphere. The lighting in the sequence is also a lot darker than the previous which adds to the implication that the atmosphere is about to change, this along with the non diegetic sounds like the wind blowing and the distant sound of birds, help create a really dramatic, prominent sequence which leads on

Per 2010 AHA guidelines, medics performed a 12 lead EKG, managed the patient s hypotension with a fluid bolus, and managed the patient s airway by endotracheal intubation (American Heart Association, 2011). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The American Heart Association (2011) states that, Therapeutic hypothermiais the only intervention demonstrated to improve neurologic recovery after cardiac arrest (Pp 77). Recommendations range between 32 and 36 degrees centigrade for 12 to 36 hours. Cooling may be achieved through either introduction of cooled, isotonic, non glucose containing fluid, or surface cooling interventions like ice packs or cold packs. The AHA states, however, that patient core temperaturemust be monitored by an esophageal thermometer, a pulmonary artery catheter, or a bladder catheter and that peripheral temperature measurements via axillary, aural, or oral thermometers are inadequate for measuring core temperatures in targeted temperature management. Therefore, while the AHA does recommend initiation of therapeutic hypothermia by EMS personnel in certain situations, agencies must carry and be trained in the use of equipment to adequately measure the patient s core temperature. Further, the AHA states that therapeutic hypothermia results in increased neurologic function post cardiac arrest but does not identify a timeframe for initiation for these protocols, let alone explore whether or not initiation of post cardiac arrest targeted temperature management by EMS influences patient outcomes. • 16. The Theme Of Plot In Sweat By Zora Hurston In her short story Sweat , Zora Hurston uses plot to expose the theme that what goes around comes around. Plot is an author s careful arrangement of incidents in a narrative in order to achieve a desired effect. In Hurston s case, the desired effect is shaping the theme of the story. Throughout Sweat , all of the events are carefully thought out in order to show the reader that Sykes got what he deserved, therefore creating the theme what goes around comes around. The main highlighted events in this plotare the verbal conflict that Delia and Sykes have, the town scene where Sykes is being discussed by local townspeople, Sykes bringing home a rattlesnake, and Sykes getting bit by the snake. The first major incident in the plot of Sweat is a verbal conflict between Delia and Sykes in the beginning. It starts with Delia being scared with a bullwhip by Sykes. She reacts in fear, saying, Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You know it would skeer me... (Hurston). Delia and Sykes go back and forth about how scared Delia is scared of snakes, and how Sykes purposely wants to scare her. Delia, however, stays calm until she seizes a skillet and strikes a defensive pose. Sykes is shocked, so he just leaves the house, slamming the gate after him (Hurston). At this point in the story, the reader gets a good idea of the relationship between Delia and Sykes. The reader knows Delia and Sykes are opposites, Sykes badness outlines the good, hardworking side of Delia. This first scene serves as rising action to get to know the life of Delia and Sykes. The theme is not yet clear, because the plot is only beginning. However, Delia foreshadows Sykes fate at the end of this part of Hurston s story. Delia thinks out loud before sleep when she says, Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back, is got to come under his belly. Sometime or ruther, Sykes, like everybody else, is gointer reap his sowing (Hurston). The next scene of this story is the conversation the townspeople have. When they see Delia, they spark a conversation about how badly Sykes treats Delia (Hurston). A few of the townspeople comment angrily, He useter be so skeered uh lookin huh...We oughter take Syke an dat stray oman uh his n down in

In his work, Oration on the Dignity of Man, Mirandola discusses how as a human being you have no limit or no bound and may choose for yourself the limits and bounds of your nature He believes that God created humans with no fixed position in life and that the choices they make during their journey will define whether they fall into high or low positions on the chain of life. 1b. Pico believes that human beings are free because they have the ability to choose their own paths. In Oration on the Dignity of Man, he states that we should not make that freedom of choice God gave us into something harmful, for it was intended to be to our advantage. Representing that God created us as free beings in having the freedom to choose. Later on in his work, he declares, Let a holy ambition enter into our souls; let us not be content with mediocrity, but rather strive after the highest and expend all our strength in achieving it. He regarded the most noble goal, the goal to reach the highest position, in union to god. To choose to be next to God was the greatest achievement. 1c. • 18. 1984 Is Relevant Today Essay Despite 1984 being written more than 60 years ago, it is still relevant to this day. The book 1984 contains many aspects that can still be relatable today. It also serves as a warning for the future that still applies today. One way that 1984 is still relevant today is that the book deals with surveillance. In today s world surveillance is an important issue since due to the increased use of technology it is easier to monitor people. In 1984 the government uses telescreens and other technology to watch and listen in on it s citizens to make sure they are not doing anything that the party disapproves of. One of the famous lines in the book is even Big Brother is watching you , which means that the party is watching what everyone does. All of this is relevant since in today s world the U.S. government does monitor what its citizens do online somewhat. This shows that the fear of always being watched is valid fear and something people should be concerned about.... When people go to vote there are some that don t know about every person that is running for a position in government. People also aren t as involved in issues as they should be. The book 1984 is also relevant today since it deals with freedom. In the book it has the thought police, which tries to find people who think things outside of what the party wants them to think. The government tries to control everything in its citizens lives. The book tries to show how important freedom of thought and speech are to have. Adoption Is A Second Chance For A Child s Life Miracle Adoption is a second chance any orphan child would dream of, and for the person or people adopting the child it is a great chance to form that miracle family any person would want. Their whole life will turn around in a 360 motion and it is a big deal. It is an opportunity that should be taken seriously, and the adoptive parents should do research before having a child in their care. Each child is unique and has a different background story. Many adoptive parents are taking advantage process of the adopting and not understanding the responsibility of having the child in their care. Adoption is more than child placement, said Adam Pertman, executive director of the Donaldson Adoption Institute, and author of Adoption Nation. The adoptive parents should be thankful that they are given the chance to adopt but instead they are deporting these children, using the child for labor that is inhumane, and are taking advantage of government benefits. Problem Now a days, adoptive parents are sending the child back to their foster home because they have a mental illness or a health problem and the parents do not want to be responsible to take care of them. Some of the parents feel that is too much to handle and they are not willing to give the child a chance. In the 13th century B.C, Troy and Sparta had stopped their wars and become allies, this was until Paris the youngest prince of Troy seduced Helen, the Queen of Sparta and left with her back to Troy. The leaders would then come forward on their chariots and challenge each other to single combat. This was a common method of warfare. It allows for true heroes to be shown and depicts the power of the leaders. The soldiers would enter the battle in chariots, launching javelins into the enemy formations, then dismount for hand to hand combat with more javelin throwing, rock throwing, and hand to hand sword and shield fighting. In the Iliad Homer also mentions the use of the phalanx formation being used by the Greeks. The phalanx is a rectangular mass military formation, usually composed entirely of heavy infantry armed with spears, pikes, or similar weapons . Scholars suggest that the Greeks would have used this tactic because the alignment of shields minimises the chances of projectiles hitting the men, and the men can move as one, strong unit. In book 4 of Homer s Iliad, a major battle in the war is described in detail. After the armies have gathered together all there available forces, they began to march towards each other. The Achaean forces moved forward towards the Trojans covering the horizon with the sight of eminent war. As the Greeks moved forward they unknowingly ventured into the range of the Trojan archers, who were some of the finest in the known world. Auden s poem Clocks and Lovers, in which each side has a different attitude. The attitudes of the clocks differs greatly from that of the lover, with opposite points of view. Both attitudes relate to separate groups of people and are shown simply through analysis of the poem, because the poet uses literary devicesto emphasize both perspectives. While the lover overzealously believes his lovecan transcend time, the clocks counter by stating that time s relentlessness erodes all. The overzealous beliefs brought about by love can be seen in the attitude of the lover, who acts as though his love will never die and can never be changed by time. When speaking to his lover, he says I ll love you, dear, I ll love you / Till China and Africa meet / And the river jumps over the mountain / And the salmon sing in the street. The last three lines of this stanza are hyperboles, giving the lover emphasis on how his love will die only when the absolutely impossible happens; therefore, he believes it is impossible for his love to die. In this stanza imagery is the upfront literary device, as is seen when Auden uses strong phrases such as salmon sing and river jumps to create an image of the impossible occurring to add to the unrealistic attitude of the lover. Impossible events continue to occur when the lover says I ll love you till the ocean /

Throughout Rose s article his main idea is that a blue collar worker, receiving a low income, tends to hold more intelligence than typically perceived. Rose also compares different blue collar jobs explaining the differences in what intelligence is being used. When analyzing each job and the tasks they do, he also includes important information on how blue collar workers apply their knowledge learned from working to become more efficient employees. Each job is
  • 38. Personal Narrative Analysis I have a fully grown massive Rottweiler named Mayson. When I first received my dog I had no idea that I was going to receive odd looks from people all over my neighborhood. I did not know that this tailless, lovable creature would soon grow to be my shadow of disapproval. To this day, they do not like looking at a five foot two female walking a 103 pound black bear like doghalf her size. Throughout the years, I have learned to cope with my so called bloodthirsty dog by taking her out for walks when there are no sounds of children, strollers, or skateboards. I walk her late because I do not like to receive dirty looks from my neighbors for they do not trust my beast. My neighborhood once led me to believe the rumors about my black sheep because... In a matter of seconds I told her drop it! as if it was a chew toy I wanted in my possession. When I looked across the bare street the man with the cigar was nowhere to be seen. I was by myself, with two animals that could possibly be injured within the next couple of seconds. To my relief, Mayson let go of the dog. As soon as she let the dog free it snapped at her front right paw. I quickly yelled Mayson! in hopes of stopping her from focusing all of her attention onto the small dog. At this moment, I thought that I had escaped the possible ridicule of my neighbors but the same odious thoughts began flooding my head again. Once Mayson looked up at me the Chihuahua began yapping and heading towards me as its next target. Mayson quickly picked up the small dog again and began to shake it faster because the dog had crossed the line. Once Mayson did this, I was certain that it would be the last of the obnoxious dog s days. However, she released it again and gave it a third chance. Thus, the dog ended up barking once and storming back to its owner that was now standing in front of his lawn. I cringed at the sight of him just standing there while I had to deal with Tom and Jerry because

  • 40. Las Meninas And Pablo Picasso Page 1 of 3 ZOOM Las MeninasLas Meninas is a famous painting by Diego Velazquez and has had 58 renditions by Pablo Picasso. Both painters are known for their remarkable paintings each from different eras. Before I go on to dissect the paintings, I ll give you some key background information on the two artists. Velazquez was born in 1599 and died on August 6th, 1660 whereas Picasso was born on October 25th, 1881 and died on April 8th, 1973. Therefore you can tell that there will of course be some differences in their paintings especially the meaning behind them because they were born in separate time periods. Both were fairly old, Velazquez was 61 when he passed away and Picasso was 92. Velazquez was 57 when he made this painting so his life was coming close to an end, whether he knew it or not. It could have influenced his perspective on the painting. Picasso was 70 when he did his first rendition of Las Meninas so by that time he had done a lot of artwork and still had some life left, so his experience and time could have influenced it as well. Despite the time difference between Velazquez s painting and this version of Picasso s painting, there are some similarities. The backgrounds are both black, maybe it was a good background color for both of them. Velazquez could have done it to represent the room the princess was in. Picasso could have done it because of the colors he used for the princess since they were mainly bright like white and yellow. In both

The parent or mature Christian is fully engaged in the mission of Jesus Christ. People who are in this stage are those who are witnessing and discipling others, in the same manner that he or she was discipled. They are looking out for the immature Christians, and taking them under their wing to encourage, listen to, and strengthen them to maturity in Christ. The four spheres of relationships are as follows; the relationship with God, the relationship with family or home, relationship with church and believers, and the relationship with the world. The most important sphere is the relationship with God. This sphere or the relationship with God needs to be vibrant, fresh, and personal. All of the other spheres will work or be in line when our relationship with God is in line. The sphere dealing with the home can be taxing at times. The relationship here is much easier when everyone in the home are Christians. However, if dad is a Christian and mom is not, or vice versa, or perhaps a child or children surrender their lives to the calling of Jesus, and mom and dad have not, family relationships and harmony in the home can become much more difficult. Paul writes about how the relationships in the home should be. He talks about how each person should deal with the other. The book of Genesis tells us the story of Noah and how he was a successful father and husband. He was able to reach his entire family for God. It was his family that was saved

The Importance Of The Executive Branch In The United States The government of the United States of America has been around for over 2 centuries, in this time the original setup has been little altered. The government is composed of three individual branches: judicial, executive, and legislative branches. All three branches are held together using a system of checks and balances. While each branch has some kind of trump or has control over another branch, some branches are arguably more powerful than others. The main focus of this paper will be on where the executivebranch stands power wise. When our founding fathers first started building our nation from the dust, they had in mind a system of branches where no one branch was more powerful than the others. We all know this must be frusterating be cause im sure we have all been in their place. And if congress breathing down his neck wasnt bad enough, one of the only checks that the executive branch has can be overridden. That means that the thing that is supposed to stope legislation from passing can be passed. Which isn t tha tbad of a thing because if congress passes legislation which means there is aleady a majority. • 45. Why People Learn Other Languages It is known that every human, since the moment they born, have a natural tendency to learn a mother language, if there is a continuous interaction in their communicative context. Krashen Theory Along the history, all the learning mechanism have been analyzed and many other theories have appeared to determine the reason why people learn other languages. One of those theories is the theory of The Monitor Model by S. Krashen (1985), which has 5 hypotheses. Acquisition Learning Hypothesis The first hypothesis and the core of this theory is the acquisition learning hypothesis. It claims that there are two independent ways to dominate a second language: by acquisition and by learning. The acquisition is an automatic process which is developed in the subconscious level, driven by the need of communication, very similar to the process of assimilation that happens with the acquisition of the first or mother language. Acquisition is basically the result of a natural communication where the learner is focused mainly on the meaning. It is also considered a implicit way of learning or picking up language, where the formal teaching does not help, but it is more relevant and crucial in the development of second language execution. On the other side there is the learning process, which according to Krashen (1985) is an conscious process, as a result of learning a language, its grammatical aspects and formal features, therefore knowing about the language.Acquisition and learning have
  • 46. Catalase Enzyme Activity Analysis The catalase enzyme is so critical to our health that it is found in nearly every living organism on the planet that is exposed to oxygen. This antioxidant enzyme can catalyze the conversion of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Hydrogen peroxide is a by product of cell metabolism, which serves some useful functions including healthy immune response. (Group, 2013) Catalasehas one of the highest rates of turnover when compared to all other enzymes. In other words, one catalase enzymecan change 40 million molecules of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen in just one second. In fact, catalase enzymes act to protect our cells, counteracting and balancing the continual production of hydrogen peroxide. Because of its undeniable, scientifically proven... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research scientists from the University of Washington in Seattle conducted a lab study on rats and the augmentation of natural catalase in their bodies. By supplementing with increased catalase, the life span of these laboratory rats increased by almost 20%. This is the equivalent of nearly 25 human years. (Group, 2013) Dr. David Sinclair of Harvard Medical School stated in The Scientist Magazine that there is a direct link between the catalase enzyme, free radical damage and extending our life span. This also suggests that the catalase enzyme may help ward off degenerative diseases. Similarly, studies done in Russia and Spain also show a correlation between these types of enzymes and the prolongation of life. In 2005, Spanish scientists found that very high servings of apple polyphenols boosted the gene expression of natural catalase in the body. Studies from China on apple polyphenol also confirmed significantly increased catalase. (Group, 2013) The production and purification of catalase enzyme is economical and cost effective. There are many health benefits associated with catalase including reduced fat, increased life span and the reduction of grey hair. As hydrogen Peroxide is dangerous in the human body, catalase eliminates H_2 0_2. Overall, I recommend that catalase is produced by

Arama Ancient Egyptians By 7000 BC, some of the earliest recorded farmers had settled in Beidha, a pre pottery settlement just north of Petra.[11] Petra is listed in Egyptian campaign accounts and the Amarna letters as Pel, Sela or Seir. Though the city was founded relatively late, a sanctuary has existed there since very ancient times. Stations 19 through 26 of the stations list of Exodus are places associated with Petra.[12] This part of the country was biblically assigned to the Horites, the predecessors of the Edomites.[13] The habits of the original natives may have influenced the Nabataean custom of burying the dead and offering worship in half excavated caves. Two types of tombs have been distinguished: the Nabataean and the Greco Roman. The Nabataean type starts from the simple pylon tomb with a door set in a tower crowned by a parapet ornament, in imitation of the front of a dwelling house. Then, after passing through various stages, the full Nabataean type is reached, retaining all the native features and at the same time exhibiting characteristics which are partly Egyptian and partly Greek. Of this type close parallels exist in the tomb towers at Mada in Saleh in north Arabia, which bear long Nabataean inscriptions and supply a date for the corresponding monuments at Petra. Then comes a series of tombfronts which terminate in a semicircular arch, a feature derived from north Syria. Finally come the elaborate façades copied from the front of a Roman temple; however, all traces of native style have vanished. The exact dates of the stages in this development cannot be fixed. Few inscriptions of any length have been found at Petra, perhaps because they have perished with the stucco or cement which was used upon many of the buildings. The simple pylon tombs which belong to the pre Hellenic age serve as evidence for the earliest period. It is not known how far back in this stage the Nabataean settlement goes, but it does not go back farther than the 6th century BC. A period follows in which the dominant
