Michael Moore Capitalism Synopsis
Michael Moore is the writer and director of the highly relevant documentary film, Capitalism: A Love
Story. To me, the most interesting chapter of the film is Dead Peasants. Moore talked about capitalism
is a system of giving and taking, mostly taking . In my opinion, it sounds true for me. Moore
illustrated Irma Johnson s husband Dan ironic case. Who recently died of cancer, leaving behind Irma
and their two sons. They filmed the woman cried and sadly talked about her husband. Her husband
worked in middle management at Amegy Bank in Houston, Texas. Amegy had taken out a secret life
insurance policy on Dan s life. The bank generously named itself as the beneficiary in the event of
Dan s death. Dan s death made them $1.5 million richer by the insurance company accidentally
informed Irma that Amegy Bank had received a check for $1.5 million just weeks after Dan died. Irma
Johnson cried in pain that she didn t know anything and they never told her. Why the company try to
profit from employee s death?. How are these companies able to get away with this?. Moore might be
answer those kinds of question in sarcastic way : I guess that s the point of capitalism. It allows you to
get away with anything, like making a profit off the death of an employee.
These kind of corporate insurance policies on employees, with the normal use of life insurance, ...

America is not great like everyone thinks, not all thing is perfect, I guess. In the film, the best well
known case is Walmart, Moore mentioned about Walmart took out over 350,000 life insurance policies
on rank and file associates. Especially, LaDonna s death earned one of the richest corporations in the
world an extra $81,000 and Walmart didn t offer a penny to help to cover her medical bills and funeral
which over $100,000. We call that case as Dead Peasant Insurance. It is just more about the want of

Improved the Detection Ratio of Cyber Attack Using Feature Reduction Based on Support Vector
Machine and Glowworm Optimization
Abstract The swarm intelligence plays vital role in feature reduction process in cyber attack detection.
The family of swarm intelligence gives bucket of algorithm for the processing of feature reduction
such as ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization and many more. In family of swarm new
algorithm is called glowworm optimization algorithm based on the concept of luciferin. The luciferin
collects the similar agent of glow and proceeds the minimum distance for the processing of lights.
Such concept used for the reduction of feature in cyber attack classification. The reduce attribute
classified by well know classifier is called support vector machine. The combination of support vector
machine and glowworm swarm optimization performs very well in compression of pervious feature
reduction technique. The proposed algorithm is implemented in MATLAB software, for the validation
of algorithm used KDDCUP99 dataset.

The Beat Poetry Revolution Of The 1950-1960s
Every revolution has begun with a vision. The beat poetry rebellion s just happened to be opioid
induced. Picture this: the 1950 s. With the threat of nuclear war on the horizon during the Cold War,
the citizens of the United States began to detest their government. In 1952, homosexuality was
officially classed as a mental disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In
1955, Allen Ginsberg first performed Howl, which would soon become the most widely controversial
beat poem, including scenes of illegal drugs and illegal sex practices. What is considered obscene
when the government demolishes entire cities without blinking an eye? What are the limits? The beat
poetry revolution of the 1950 60s was influenced by the New Vision, which compromised the current
cultural beliefs of sexuality, religion, and drug use. The beat poetry revolution (or beat generation )
was a movement that spread through New York City and San Francisco during the late 1940 s to the
end of the 1960 s. This movement was created to free poetry from the strains of academia and
therefore, it allowed expressive and sexualized poetry to be spoken and presented to the public.
According to a common dictionary, poetry is a piece of writing that has the intention of evoking
emotion from the reader or listener using style and rhythm. The beats changed the perception of what
was acceptable. Free verse poetry (poetry written without rhyme or structure) was blended with
spoken word to

Electronic Communications Privacy Act ( Ecpa )
Abstract
The Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) was a pretty progressive law at the time it was
enacted. It enhanced the privacy protection that was originally delineated in the Omnibus Crime
Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 by also adding communication protection for pagers, email, cell
phones, service providers, and computer transmissions. The ECPA addressed the legal privacy issues
that were surfacing with the rising use of networks, computers and other new innovations in electronic
communications. The first large computers had been built as early as the 1950s, with the first
development of a mass market microcomputer starting in 1977. The development of ARPANET in the
late 1960s and early 1970s would eventually lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ECPA safeguards electronic, oral, and wire communications during creation, in transit, in storage
and relates to electronic mail, phone conversations, and data that is stored electronically. The intended
purpose of the legislation is to reassure customers that their private information will remain secure
from public exposure. The ECPA includes three main provisions for communications privacy titled the
Wiretap Act, Stored Communications Act, and Pen Register Act.
Wiretap Act
The Wiretap Act has provisions that safeguard an individual s telephonic and computer based voice
communications from being captured, used or released by another individual. This Act prohibits the
listen in on and electronic bugging, the physical custody of bugging or tapping equipment, as well as
the use or disclosure of information unlawfully obtained from the use of said equipment. (Unknown,
2013). The Act also provides exceptions for service providers, in specific instances, and for law
enforcement to perform electronic eavesdropping, under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. It
affords processes for government entities to acquire judicial consent for obtaining such
communications, and controls the usage and release of this information acquired from legal
eavesdropping.
Stored Communications Act

Diagnosis Of The Community At Risk Essay
Asthma in Oakland California
Description of the Community at Risk Asthma has become a rising issue at hand, especially in
Oakland, California. Asthma is at an all time high in Oakland because of the factories and smog that
surrounds the local communities. After conducting research, I decided to dig deeper in asthma in
Oakland because I wanted to learn more and to see if there was a way to reduce the rise of asthma.
Asthma in Oakland is an issue for all ages, especially the younger ones because their lungs are still
developing. For my term paper, I plan to explore the disproportionate burden of hazard of the
population of air quality in Oakland, California, an area that is impacted by factory smoke, which can
lead to asthma in children who are 18 years of age or younger.
Along with Oakland, I came across research on Alameda County as well and decided to include some
of the findings from the articles. Oakland does not have the best or suitable air quality due to the large
number of the factories that surround the local communities so the quality of air is affected as well as
the individuals who have asthma. The factory exhaust and smoke make it harder for individuals with
asthma to breathe and the poor air quality can send them into an asthma attack. Also, some of the
schools in Oakland need to make sure they are up to date and have proper measures for children s
safety in the schools meaning proper ventilation.
According to the Bay Area 2013 census, there are

Advantages Of A Small Dining Room
Of all the dining room tips available, the following ideas for a small dining room are probably the
most useful to most people. Few people have large separate dining rooms, such facilities either
comprising part of the kitchen or the living room, or are small rooms with limited floor area.
1. Use Light Colors
Light colors tend to open out a room while dark shades tend to make it look smaller. However, light
need not mean drab, and whites and pastels can be accented with a bright contrasting color. This is
particularly effective when color is use to draw attention to specific decorative elements.
Don t overuse color, though. You can have one colorful wall with others in white or a neutral shade, or
use brightly colored dining chairs with light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Small Dining Room Acoustics
One of the more useful dining room tips that you do not often find is to deaden the acoustics in the
room. A small room with plain walls and woodblock flooring will reflect sound waves, so that
conversation will appear to boom and reverberate, particularly as the evening goes on and the wine
starts to take effect!
While a highly polished or even rustic wood table looks nice, it is more practical to use a tablecloth.
This not only protects the table from scratches and dropped food, but also absorbs sound waves.
Fabric wall coverings also look good while wallpaper is better that paint or paneling. Each of these
helps to deaden sound so that you can hear what people are saying without the booming and reflection
of their voices.

An Analysis of the First Paragraph of O’Connor’s The...
An Analysis of the First Paragraph of O Connor s The Artificial Nigger
?In The Artificial Nigger, Flannery O Connor commingles characteristic Christian imagery with
themes evocative of her Southern setting. In this essay, a close reading of the first paragraph of this
story elucidates the subtle ways in which O Connor sets up these basic themes of redemption and
forgiveness. An additional paragraph will examine the ramifications of this reading on the intertwined
racial aspects of the story, which are connected by a common theme of master/servant imagery, which
is integral to the first paragraph.
In this story, the key character is named Mr. Head, which immediately signals to the reader that this
character is suggestive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Head, symbolically undergirding all of humanity. The symbolism reminds this reader of the Irish poet
Brendan Kenneally s line: to serve the age, betray it. The act of betraying and the resultant Christian
forgiveness, this reading suggests,is fundamental to humankind s existence on earth.
O Connor continues with the moonlight imagery, but casts it in dichotomous terms. The moon s light
spilling into the bedroom paused as if it were waiting for his permission to enter but upon entering,
cast a dignifying light on everything. References indicative of servitude continue with the depiction of
the trousers thrown upon the chair like the garment some great man had just flung to his servant and in
the characterization of the chair stiff and attentive as if it was awaiting an order. Such portrayals set up
for the reader the curious relationship between Mr. Head and his grandson, where the roles each
character plays often switch Mr. Head s moral lesson that he expects to teach Nelson is successful, but
a similar moral lesson is taught to Mr. Head through Nelson, who becomes the agent of forgiveness
who facilitates a deeper understanding within his grandfather s soul. The connection between
father/son and/or master/servant is often overturned in this story.
In finishing this first paragraph, O Connor comments implicitly on the servant imagery by

Social Attitudes In The Great Gatsby
I felt a haunting loneliness sometimes, and felt it in others young clerks in the dusk, wasting the most
poignant moments of night and life (Fitzgerald, p.xx). This is the feeling one might feel in their lives
no matter how much money they have. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby to portray the
different social attitudes within the upper class. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born Francis Scott Key
Fitzgerald on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was 29 years old when The Great Gatsby
was published on April 10, 1925. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald sheds light on the different
personalities between the aged rich families and the modern rich families. An example of the
sophistication of Gatsby are the elaborate parties he throws for the people he invites, while on the
other hand, Tom and Daisy have a simple dinner with only a few people over. The emptiness one
might feel at any time in their life cannot be fulfilled with money but only with other friends
surrounding one. Gatsby is characterized as a very elaborate man sophisticated in his ways. He is
always seen throwing extravagant parties with only the best of the best belongings in his home. One
week ends his Rolls Royce became an omnibus, bearing parties to and from the city between nine in
the morning and long past midnight, while his station wagon scampered like a brisk yellow bug to
meet all trains. ( Melville, p.39). Nick explains the bizarre lifestyle that Gatsby had with all his parties.
Although, throughout Gatsby s life, the reader is able to see the emptiness he feels without Daisy. I,m
just going to wait here and see if he tries to bother her about that unpleasantness this afternoon. She s
locked herself into her room, and if he tries any brutality she s going to turn the light out and on again.
(Melville, p.144). Here, the reader recognizes the love Gatsby has for daisy. He is willing to wait all
night in order to be sure of her protection. Gatsby has called off all of his parties and fired all of his
servants just to spend time with daisy. In doing this, Gatsby shows great qualities that one should look
for in another person: love, loyalty, trust, and a kind heart. Unfortunately, these attributes led to

Deadly Disease of West Nile Virus
West Nile Virus Disease
The first recorded case of the West Nile virus was in the West Nile area (Uganda) of Africa in 1937 as
stated by Peairs (2014) (para. 5). The virus has spread in recent years to Europe and the United States,
causing illness in birds, horses, and humans. Peairs (2014) also stated that the first case of the virus in
the U.S. was detected in 1999 in New York City (para. 8). Today, the virus has expanded across the
U.S. and continues to infect thousands of people each year.
The West Nile virus is most frequently transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. The people who acquire
this virus are usually asymptomatic, although, in severe cases, this virus can cause serious
neurological diseases or can ultimately lead to death. The World Health Organization (2011) states that
the West Nile virus is commonly found in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and West
Asia. There are currently no medications or vaccine available to treat or prevent the West Nile virus,
though there are several ways that one can protect themselves and ways one can ease the symptoms of
the virus.
According to Sejvar (2014), the ongoing outbreak of the West Nile virus in North America has greatly
expanded our understanding of the spectrum of illness associated with the West Nile Virus infection in
humans, and a number of previously under recognized syndromes have been characterized (para. 2).
This includes the sign and symptoms, short term and long term complications, and

The society as a whole is losing the ability to interact with and understand the people we come in
contact with every day. Nations such as Japan and China used to be extremely interdependent
communities (Gilovich et al., 2012), meaning that their societies were connected and citizens thought
collectively rather than independently; however, while still more interdependent that the United States,
the emergence of new devices, including the new iPhones, is causing a cultural shift in those societies
as well. The more a society avoids interaction and continues to find comfort in phones, the more
independent we become; this is turn is leading to a very isolated and cruelly individualistic society.

Allegory In The Handmaids Tale
The post Gileadean society depicted decades after Offred s story is the final allegory, presenting, in its
totality, the cyclicality of human nature. Just as the rise of Gilead showed the downfall of liberalism
and feminism, the fall of Gilead showed the exact opposite, a return to a world very similar to the one
before Gilead ever existed. In the novel, a symposium on the history of Gilead describes how Gilead is
a fascinating and worthwhile talk (299), using many similar descriptors as are used to speak of the
other classically conservative religious society, Puritanical Massachusetts. Atwood presents how, just
as the rise of Gilead signalled an end to the progression of economic and social liberalism, the fall of
Gilead showed the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel Moira is described as extremely free spirited and empowered to do as she wishes before
Gilead. During Gilead, her mindset stays the same, as using her extremely powerful confidence, as her
stiff backed posture was apparently enough to convince the Angels on guard... Moira marched straight
out the front door (132). Even under the crushing oppression of Gilead, people like Moira and Offred
keep up their resentment towards being told what to do, even if the format changes. It is described
how in Gilead, Offred decides against being a victim: I intend to last , she declares. To last, she must
pay attention. Especially early on in the novel, she is alert to every detail around her (Neuman 4). On
the more negative spectrum of unchanging human qualities, Atwood presents the eternal establishment
of social classes, even with the purported ideas that everyone be equal in oppression. In Gilead racial
and social divides abound, as it is reported how The Econowives do not like [Handmaids] (Atwood
44). This, and the fact that the symposium describes the racism that occurred in Gilead, shows how, no
matter what the society is, people will always carve out a space for them on the social ladder, only to
look down on those below them and envy those above them. The fact that humans, under either an

Gender Roles In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
Aside from their constant tendency to fall ill and die, Poe s upper class characters are united by their
portrayal as flawed. Oftentimes, the characters who are identified as being rude, deranged, immoral,
overconfident, idolaters, and even cruel, are the ones who belong to the upper class. For example, in
The Cask of Amontillado, Montresor wishes to kill the wealthy Fortunato because of a thousand
injuries and an insult. While neither the injuries nor the insult is mentioned, Fortunato is shown
insulting the intelligence of his acquaintance, Luchresi, by calling him an, ignoramus, and saying that
he, cannot tell Amontillado from sherry. Fortunato also implies that he believes Montresor to be
beneath him by saying that it is, impossible for the latter to belong to the Freemasons, and that the
mere claim is a jest. In The Fall of the House of Usher, the Usher family is stated to have frequently

burying his sister alive. The Masque of the Red Death offers a thousand and one examples of wealthy
and overconfident characters. Prince Prospero and his thousand hale and light hearted friends believe
that they can, bid defiance to contagion, by leaving their plague torn country for one of Prospero s,
castellated abbeys. Thinking that the, gates of iron, could somehow keep out disease, the characters
enjoy themselves and indulge in, all the appliances of pleasure. But, in the end, their overconfidence
has fatal results. The Red Death (the plague that they tried to escape) finds its way inside and kills

How Did The Media Affect The Anti War Movement
The Vietnam conflict was the first war involving the United States to have a heavy media presence,
taking pictures and writing down everything. This media presence allowed for the anti war movement
to have ammunition to fight their own battle, the battle against the war. Without the media s enormous
involvement the Vietnam Conflict may have been much different. The views of the average person
were definitely affected by the images the media presented to them for the first time. The soldiers
could have had a much different homecoming as well as the overall view of the war. The anti war

Movements for change happen when the citizens of a nation join together to fight for what they want
and believe in. Many did not want to be involved in a war where there was not a clear reasoning for
going to war. The antiwar movement actually consisted of a number of independent interests, often
only vaguely allied and contesting each other on many issues, united only in opposition to the Vietnam
War. The movement was able to pick up steam and attract new people from all over the country when
the bombings of Cambodia and North Vietnam intensified. With the images and depictions of the war
pouring in and more soldier dying the movement was able to gain traction. The first American protests
against the United States intervention in Vietnam took place in 1963, the antiwar movement did not
begin in earnest until nearly two years later, when President Lyndon B. Johnson ordered massive U.S.
military intervention and the sustained bombing of North Vietnam. These protests came in a time
when movements for change were happening all over the country from the women s rights movement

An Analysis Of Hitler s Operation Barbarossa
The wartime relationship between the Soviet Union and the United States, tenuously compromised
and founded upon the necessity of the immediate pragmatism instigated by Hitler s Operation
Barbarossa, was doomed to inevitably disintegrate once both parties ceased to confront a common
belligerent. There are two significant factors within the breakdown of United States Soviet relations
following World War II. First is the ideological incongruence within the communist capitalist
dichotomy. Evangelical in nature, both powers aspired toward the proliferation of their political model
(Class Lecture, Slide 2). Similarly, Stalin s narrative of the bourgeoisie s desire to undermine Soviet
progress only furthered the rift between the two systems ( Comrades , ... Show more content on

also to advance as far to the west as possible while Germany collapsed in an effort to attain as much

It is important that an American trying to do business in Saudi Arabia understand the hierarchy so they
don t offend anybody. Uncertainty Avoidance describes a society s comfort with uncertainty (Ball
100). The Saudi Arabian culture prefers to avoid uncertainty, meaning they feel the need to have strict
laws and rules, and expect to have clear procedures to maintain the status quo. (Ball 100). An
American trying to do business in Saudi Arabia will need to remember that change is not welcomed so
innovation may be resisted (The Hofstede Center). Masculinity femininity dimension describes the
gap between the roles of men and women in the culture (Ball 100). Saudi Arabia is a masculine
society meaning that both men are typically more assertive and competitive. Although there aren t as
many women working in Saudi Arabia, the women that do work are considered to be assertive and
competitive, just like their male counterparts. An American would need to keep this in mind in regards
to management because the culture expects management to be decisive and assertive (The Hofstede
Center). Long term orientation/Confucian dynamism is explained as the level to which people in the
culture will persevere to overcome obstacles they cannot overcome with will or strength (Ball 101).
The culture of Saudi Arabia a short term oriented society. This means that they

Obama And Castro Relationship Analysis
A New Relationship in the Works After Obama and Castro Meet in Cuba
On March 21, 2016, President Barack Obama delivered a joint press conference with Cuban President
Raul Castro at the Revolution Palace in Havana. Obama is the first United States president to visit
Cuba in nearly a century. Having it been the first official contact between their two governments in an
extraordinarily long time, the two engaged in awkwardly blunt exchanges throughout the press
conference. Both mentioned that they were committed to continuing on a path to normalizing
relations. Although this was mentioned, there was an underlying hostility between the two as they
criticized each other s countries throughout the press conference.
A reporter asked Castro about the dissidents his government has arrested and he replied by saying,

compared to the overall population. Illiteracy has long been recognized that illiteracy is an
intergenerational trend that is passed on from parent to child. It imposes a considerable burden on the
family or support system of the individual in question, as illiterate adults are highly dependent on
others to function and survive. Family members often must do the grocery shopping, pay the bills, fill
out forms and documents, and manage the financial affairs of illiterate. Children s parents who did not
complete school or have trouble with literacy skills are more likely to be illiterate themselves and are
more than five times as likely to drop out of high school as other children. Illiteracy affects society at
large through the financial burden that imposes lost productivity and increased taxes for welfare
programs, prisons, and crime prevention programs.
There is a link between literacy levels and incarceration. Studies have found that seven

The Emperor Is Wearing No Clothes, By Mark Henkal
Mark Henkal is the self described National Polygamy Advocate. In his speech The Emperor is
Wearing No Clothes, he argues the case of why Christian polygamy should be accepted. He uses four
main points to get his opinion across: grace law hypocrisy, polygamists in the Bible, the meaning of
adultery and one flesh, and prohibitions of leaders in the Bible. An individual with little to no Biblical
knowledge might find that his argument makes sense. Just listening to the speech, without any critical
thinking involved, might even persuade those with slightly more Biblical knowledge. Although
outwardly he may seem to make solid arguments, there is much more to the polygamy argument than
he brought forth. The first justification for polygamy that he presents is that it was not banned, but was
regulated under the law, therefore causing polygamy to be an accepted form of lifestyle. The verses
given to support this claim are Exodus 21:10, If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the
first one of her food, clothing, and marital rights, and Deuteronomy 21:15, if a man has two wives...,
but there are issues with how these verses are being used. The Bible is not addressing the issue of
polygamy in these verses. They are being taken out of context and bent to please the will of one man;
the former is under the context of servants and the latter is about the rights of the firstborn son. Based
on this, I would say that this point invalid and not worth further discussion. The

19th Century Prostitution
Across the 19th century the image of the prostitute and how she is portrayed in different novels has
evolved. While early depictions of a prostitute describe a woman who plagues society, later portrayals
offer a much more human and sympathetic view. Across many works of the 19th century, there are
several images of the prostitute that change overtime to reflect society s view of these women.
Between the character, Nana from Emile Zola s novel and Lulu from the silent film Pandora s Box,
there is visible evolution of the 19th century prostitute and her relationship to society. Emile Zola s
novel Nana offers a very negative and critical view of the prostitute in French society. Zola s entire
novel acts to criticize women like Nana for the disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prostitute Lulu, featured in the film Pandora s box offers a sympathetic mage of the prostitute.
The 1929 silent film is based off a set of plays called the Lulu plays from the late 19th century, and
offers a more positive portrayal of a prostitute compared to earlier works from the era. One aspect of
Lulu that is not incorporated into the earlier 19th century image of a prostitute is the prospect of
marriage. Lulu is allowed to enter the upper class tier of life and does so through marrying the Doctor.
Allowing for a prostitute to be marry contradicts the early image of an immoral woman that was
associated with prostitutes like Nana. Along with this shift in social status, Lulu is much more of a
victim than earlier prostitutes like Nana were. By some circumstances, Lulu is forced into prostitution
by her father. Where prostitutes from the early 19th century had always been the gross plague of
society, with Lulu, she is a victim and a man (her father) is shown to be the immoral character. This
point is further supported by Lulu s death. While most prostitutes from earlier works succumb to a
disease of their own body, Lulu is murdered. Again, Lulu is the victim not the cause of her suffering.
The differences in the portrayal of Nana and Lulu show an eveolution of the

`` Popular Mechanics `` By Raymond Carver

ENGWR 303 104

Essay #2 In the short story, Popular Mechanics, by Raymond Carver, starts with a short rise in action
through the introduction of the characters, setting, and plot. The short story has a face paced touch,
which moves quickly towards the climax and released the resolution right after. The short story was
narrated in third person in order to reveal the actions and the dialogue between a man and a woman
which expressed separation, struggle, miscommunication, and conflict between the couple. In the
beginning of the short story there was already a sense of separation between the couple through how
the husband or boyfriend is described as packing up his clothes because he plans on leaving the house.
When the wife or girlfriend comes home, she realizes what is going on and feels pleased that he is
leaving, however she is a bit aroused. It is important to show the physical distance between the couple
because it expresses that they do not want to be together anymore. Once the man is ready to leave, a
physical fight breaks lose about whether who takes custody of the baby. All throughout the short story,
the narrator never states why the couple wants to separate and gives little detail about the couple. This
allows the readers to become active in what they are reading by having the freedom to understand and
develop their own opinions about what is going on throughout the short story. Carver uses ambiguity

Meanings Are Transmitted Throughferred On By...
Whatever the implications of poems are, its meanings are transmitted throughferred on by
significations and undertones as well as by the writer s game plan of words into expressions,
conditions, and sentences to accomplish specific impacts. The organization of words into significant
verbal arrangements is called sentence structure or syntax. An artist can control the sentence structure
of a line to place stress on a word. This is particularly clear when a writer changes the typical word
order (Weaver, 2014). Word Choice When constructing a poem, the author is very careful in the choice
of words they may use and how they arrange those words. The author/poet uses word tools such as
tone, diction (formal and informal), colloquialism, , denotations and connotations, and whatever
jargons were used during the author specific timeframe. Tone Tone is the author s demeanor toward
the subject, the state of mind made by the greater part of the components that are within the poem.
Composing, similar to dialog, can be portrayed as genuine or light, miserable or glad, private or open,
furious or tender, sharp or nostalgic, or by whatever other states of mind and sentiments that
individuals experience (Weaver, 2014). Diction Like every good writer, poets are distinctly mindful of
lingual authority, their decision of words they utilize. Writers pick words particularly painstakingly on
the grounds that the words in their poems may point to themselves. Poems are generally less lengthy

Kids Should Not Be Allowed To Wear Uniforms In Schools
Many schools each year are gradually turning towards the use of school uniforms. Statistics show that
5% of schools worldwide are starting to take use in having school uniforms. I believe that schools

In case, you didn t know, more than half of the kids who don t wear uniforms to school get bullied

Most kids are late getting to school because they do not know what to wear. If schools get uniforms it
will reduce the amount of kids showing late up late to school every day. Also, teachers won t have to
stress about kids wearing inappropriate clothing to school if they have to wear uniforms. Although,
kids like to express themselves by the clothes they wear, having school uniforms decreases the chance
of kids showing up late to school and dressing inappropriately. If schools who have uniforms came up
with a way for kids to express themselves, uniforms wouldn t be as bad.
All things considered, I think every school should have uniforms. Although, not very many schools

A Report On The Production Of The Factory s Energy
EXCUTIVE SUMMARY XYZ is a small to medium sized factory that is almost 40 years old. In order
to keep up with the changing energy regulations and customer expectations the energy consumption of
the factory and its efficiency has to be evaluated. This baseline study provides an assessment of the
factory s energy use and sets forward several important recommendations that will ensure more
efficient energy consumption. MAIN DOCUMENT XYZ is a small to medium manufacturer of
vegetarian pies that employees less than 250 individuals. XYZ s factory is part of several units built in
the 1970s within an industrial estate. Since then there has been no significant modifications to the
factory.XYZ s factory uses two main energy sources. The machinery in the factory including cutters,
pie filling machines, conveyors and chillers are electrically powered. The cookers and the building s
heating system are fed by steam and hot water from a 1970s oil fired boiler. The purpose of this audit
is to establish a baseline from which to improve the energy and environmental performance of the
factory. In the history of mankind energy use has been part and parcel of his daily life and progression
towards betterment of life. The use of energy by man to add value to materials required is indeed the
history of industrialization (DMU, 2009). The idea of man using energy for the betterment of his life

Charles Babbage s Analytical Engine
In 1842, Ada Lovelace learned that Charles Baggage had given a series of lectures on his Analytical
Engine. Luigi Federico Menabrea had written up the lectures in the French work, Sketch of Charles
Babbage s Analytical Engine. Though Babbage would never build the Analytical Engine, its concept
was groundbreaking for the time. It was essentially the first idea for a programmable computer. Ada
was so fascinated with the topic that she decided to translate the work into English. Babbage was
impressed with her work and asked her why she had not herself written an original paper on a subject
which she is so intimately acquainted (du Preez 108). At the time, women rarely were able to publish
original work. They were usually forced to do as Ada did, merely translate the work of men. Ada
successfully managed to circumvent this obstacle by adding a series of notes to Babbage s original
text. Her notes ended up being three times as long as the original, and even corrected many of the
mistakes that Babbage had made. He noted that in doing so Ada was able to enter fully into almost all
the very difficult and abstract questions connected with the subject (du Preez 108). These notes laid
out the concept of computer programming and the required elements for a computer language.
Unfortunately, Ada was still required to use a pseudonym, her initials A.A.L, in order to get the notes
published in journals. While modern scholars still debate the true extent of Ada s contribution to the

EXTENDING THE CONCEPT OF BRAND COMMUNITY:
BUILDING COMMITMENT IN THE CHARITY SECTOR
ABSTRACT
The paper introduces a model of brand community development that is extended to the nonprofit
sector; a sector that has just recently begun to embrace relationship marketing. It is believed that brand
communities represent a unique form of relationship marketing, with benefits that are particularly
compelling for nonprofits. Indeed, the paper reveals that many of the characteristics of brand
communities already exist to some extent within the culture and/or fundraising efforts of charitable
organizations. The article offers a number of research propositions for research into the influence of
brand community markers and mechanisms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, contributions to charity comprise a substantial portion of the average household budget, over
5% of gross income according to Smith (1980). Individuals also donate a substantial portion of their
time to charities, time estimated to be worth roughly the equivalent of the financial contributions
(Smith 1980). Given these statistics, it is easy to see why the charity donor relationship is so important
to charitable organizations. However, a study conducted for the Direct Marketing Association revealed
that donors also feel it is important to have meaningful relationships with nonprofit organizations
(Association Management 1996). And yet, the desire for close relationships does not guarantee full
coffers or a full roster of volunteers. For although baby boomers indicate that they intend to give
more, they are cynical of charities and demand greater accountability for how their donations are used,
as well as tangible evidence of the good that this money is doing (Fund Raising Management 1999a).
The goal of the current paper is to extend the concept of brand community to the nonprofit sector.
Although this sector is nascent with respect to its appreciation for, and adoption of, relationship
marketing, it is believed that the brand community concept is

Analysis Of V For Vendetta By James Mcteigue
It s a title with a strong letter used as somewhat like a alliteration to exaggerate the ideas within this
film, V for Vendetta , directed by James McTeigue, this defines what the true meaning of injustice
which seems to be over exaggerated through action, sci fi and thriller scenes. V for Vendetta is a type
of film where in a future, where there was a British tyranny or corruption in the government, a
shadowy freedom fighter plots to overthrow it with the help of a young woman. This film shows the
message of the best advice is to stop fighting it and embrace the fact that you have been given an
opportunity if you chose to view it with a different set of eyes. And yet there will be many who miss
this opportunity as they feel a false sense of security operating in the belief systems that harbor fear,
anger and hate rather than letting go to face the very emotions that enslave them. This film uses fancy
quotes or catch phrases, with a strong act of violence in acting around the main character(s), especially
the protagonist V and to the eventuality, Evey at the end of the story. Special effects and the fanatical
costume visuals (with the famous Guy Fawkes mask) all is used intently to make the audience with a
tint of exhilarance, to make them think, what does this mean? What is the idea that V is trying to show

Arrest Records In Research
Arrests records are made and stored when a person is arrested. They are stored in the records of the
police force or law enforcement agency that performed the arrest, and they are only kept temporarily.
Details concerning the arrest will not usually be stored in a court, as many arrests do not result in
cases being brought before a judge. The exception to this rule is when the arrest was as a result of a
warrant issued by a court, in which case the arrest will be recorded to show that warrant is no longer
active. Otherwise a person could be released without charge only to be immediately rearrested!
They do not constitute criminal record because at this point the person in question has not been found
guilty of any crime. These records are made public so that interested parties can no that the person in

Multivariate data analysis and machine learning become a useful tool in high energy physics. The
need of more sophisticated data analysis algorithms arose with the increased complexity of the

In T2K, selecting a neutrino interaction event is like picking the needle from the haystack, due to the
tiny neutrino cross section and a large number of background events.
Nevertheless, increasing the selection purity and efficiency is crucial for precision measurement of

Family As A Traditional Family
Family
Language constantly evolves and changes as it is adopted by different cultures. Consequently, words
have many definitions, connotations and origins. Family is a term that has changed over time; as a
result the traditional definition of family is inadequate, and limited to describe the modern version of
the term. Our society tends to attach itself to the traditional conceptualization of family better know as
a nuclear family which includes a set of parents, and their biological offspring (Kompara). In America,
known as a melting pot of all cultures and races, there are many implications for the word family thus
there is no such thing as a traditional family. The traditional definition, which is limited parents and
their children, can no longer be used to describe an American family because of our diverse and
changing familial structures.
The word family dates back to the 13th century and is derived from Old French word famelie ( Family
). The word originally defined the relationship of group of people living under the same roof,
household [including servants] (1337), group of people related by blood, lineage (1442 4), a group of
people who share a common philosophy (1658) ( Family ). Growing up in a different country, my
culture taught me an immediate family only consists of a mother, a father and siblings. But in America
it s not as simple because there are many variants of a family.
American families are the most diverse, encompassing gay/lesbian

State Anxiety And Anxiety Disorders
Evaluation.
Since the 1980 s there has been a major increase in research on anxiety. Ever since, special clinics
have been introduced in order to help deal with anxiety disorders. It is suggested that the growth in
research is due to anxiety being regarded as one of the most prominent and pervasive emotions,
causing distress and negatively affecting large numbers of people. As stated by Rachman (2004),
anxiety is described as the experience of unpleasant feelings and the unsettling anticipation of a
threatening but vague event. Anxiety can be experienced in many different ways, such as feeling tense,
uncertain, and perhaps, fearful at the thought of a particular phenomenon or event. There are two main
types of anxieties; state anxiety and trait anxiety. Endler Kocovski (2001) have explained that state
and trait anxiety both result from mental assessments of a potential threat. Unlike trait, state anxiety is
described as a temporary condition, where once the perceived threatening object or event goes away,
the individual no longer experiences the symptoms of anxiety. Individuals who exhibit state anxiety
will normally feel anxious when going to job interviews, speaking in front of large crowds or sitting
exams. State anxiety is considered to be useful at particular times, by making us more alert and
enhance our performance, thus creating a fight or flight response (Rachman, 2004). However, in some
cases where the feeling of anxiety is too overwhelming, it can have the

Adapting to a Long Term Care Facility Essay
The character Dorothy said in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, there is no place like home (Baum, 1960,
p. 45). Sadly, many of our elderly live in Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF). The transition from living
in their own homes, to living in a LTCF, can be a traumatic experience. Poor adaptation to a LTCF
may cause depression, malnutrition and significantly reduce the lifespan of the elder. Thus, it is
imperative, that nurse s recognize this promptly. According to Agnes and Guralnik (2008) adaptation
is a gradual change in behavior to conform to the prevailing cultural pattern (p. 15). When elders are

160). She goes on to say that adaptation to a LTCF is the process by which someone copes with the
transition into the life of being a LTCF client (p.159). How the elders view their situation also plays a
major role on their adaptation to the LTCF. When someone views the environment in an absolute
negative way, they are going to struggle to become adapted. On the other hand, if they look at the
positives of the environment they may adapt more appropriately. According to Sister Callista Roy s
theory, adaptation is the process and outcome of individuals and groups, who use conscious
awareness, self reflection and choice to create human and environmental integration (Bergland and
Kirkevold, 2006, p.686). This theory lends to adaptation of living in a LTCF by examining a key issue,
the elders choice. With personal experience in this matter, it seems as if elders who make the decision
of moving into a LTCF better adapt to the environment. In my opinion, a lot of how elders adapt to
living in a LTCF depends on the choices they make. If they sit around, and think poor pitiful me, they
will have a much harder time adapting to their new environment. If the elder becomes engaged in their
new environment, they will adapt more efficiently. As Parker (2013) mentioned, she stays heavily
involved in activities that the LTCF provides, but also performs a multitude of other activities in her

The Story of Vlad the Impaler s Life
Are you a fan of Vampires or Dracula? I am so I did some research on them, that, and I was told to.
My essay is over the very first vampire Vlad Dracula or more commonly today Vlad the Impaler. Yes
this is going to take a while so hold tight. Vlad was born in Transylvania a very long time ago. He was
a prince of Wallachia for many, many years. He was well known for what he did to the enemy during
the battles he fought in. Vlad was a highly feared person. He was the over taker of many lands, and
villages. Vlad Dracula was a dastardly man who in this seriously long essay I will explain everything I
have the knowledge of. Let s Begin. Vlad Dracula was born to Vlad Dracul and his mother was a
beautiful young Moldavian princess, her name was lost in history. He was born in the year 1431 in the
country of Sighisoara, Transylvania. He was born a prince for his father was from a family of princes
in Wallachia (Goldberg Itzkowitz pg. 18), and of course his mother being a princess helped. His name
Dracula means little dragon, or little devil . His father was a knight of Emperor Sigismund. Vlad lived
near the front line of defense for this reason alone. When Vlad was about either 12 or 13 he and his
brother Radu were traded to the Turks by their father as hostages as to keep the treaty of peace
between the two countries from ever being broken. While they were hostages the Turks taught them
science and mathematics, and by the end of the four years they were

Definition Of Frames
A frame is a set of contexts and perspectives that defines how an individual perceives and responds to
facts, events or people. Frames are intellectual stereotypes that make the interpretation of the world
around us easy by filtering out details that we believe or have found in the past to be insignificant.
This simplification sometimes has its own problems that can in turn be addressed by reframing. The
deliberate and conscious management, reformation and refinement of frames that aims to address and
minimize the conflict between how things are and how one perceives it, is called reframing.
Reframing, essentially, is a process of analyzing, reshaping and improving frames so that the reflective
practitioners may be able to better understand

What Is The Primary Source In Joseph Galloway Speech To...
Before talking about Joseph Galloway s Speech to the Continental Congress, it is necessary for me to
explain in a simpler way what a primary source is. A primary source is a document, an image or an
artifact that provides a direct or firsthand evidence about an event, a person, an object or a work of art.
Hence, historical documents, speeches, published works, autobiographies and so on, are primary
sources.
The Speech to the Continental Congress of 1744 is a discourse made by Joseph Galloway during the
Continental Congress on the 28th September 1744. It is possible to read it on the Journals of the
Continental Congress, 1774 1789: 1774.
After the end of the French and Indian War (1754 1763), Britain saw itself with enormous debts to pay

If historians were to only use primary sources from one perspective, they would lose the chance to
know different point of views. Take into consideration Joseph Galloway s Speech to the Continental
Congress. It is clear that he is trying to persuade the colonists not to go against Britain. Now, this
speech is a primary source because is a document that provides explicit information about an event.
But, a couple of years later, Thomas Paine writes the pamphlet Common Sense , where he advocates
the country to be independent from Britain. If historians were only to use Joseph Galloway s primary
source, they would never be able to know that not everyone was thinking the same way of him. In
order to fully understand what is the cause or the causes that lead to different events in history, it is
important to be familiar to every kind of document regarding that period. Read and analyze every
prime source of that period to have a complete and neat vision of the

all, we must breathe to live, so why not breathe the healthiest air that you can provide for yourself and
your family? From your bedroom to your basement and everywhere in between, you re sure to find the

the highest quality HEPA air purifiers currently on the market are discussed.
1. Honeywell Compact Air Purifier HHT 011 (With Permanent HEPA Filter)

This energy saving, Energy Star Certified air purifier has the capacity to provide clean, healthy air to
rooms as large as 350 square feet, making it an excellent device for large spaces, such as basements or
your office.
Amid it s 99.97 percent efficient HEPA filter, odor controlling carbon pre filter, and it s employment
of Plasma Wave technology, this machine provides superior quality control over odors, pollutants, and
allergens that can ruin the quality of the air in your living quarter. Further, the Winix Plama Wave
technology feature captures molecular pollutants to effectively neutralize bacteria, viruses, bacteria,
gases, and unpleasant odors in the air at your home.
The disadvantage of this attractive modern meets contemporary machine in aesthetic appearance is
that just like other air purifiers that employ a true HEPA for air filtration, this device requires an
intermittent investment of filter changes. However, one can purchase value packs that include four
carbon filters, in addition to a HEPA filter to cut down on the costs of filter replacement, but typically
the carbon filter only requires replacement in three month intervals and a change of the HEPA filter on
a yearly

Democracy Vs Representative Democracy
Abraham Lincoln (2005) defined modern democracy in three part as government of the people ,
government by the people and government for the people . Democracy started in Greek around 500
B.C. with the simple meaning of people with power, nowadays democracy could be separate into two
forms the direct democracy and the representative democracy. In this essay, I will argue that
democracy is in crisis from the following aspect, fail of the direct democracy, the decline of
representative democracy and the eroded right.
Firstly, democracy is in crisis due to fail examples of direct democracy. Referendum a primary for of a
direct democracy when people are directly consulted for government decision making and give the
decision through a vote. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than representative democracy, liberal democracy has an additional liberal feature, the freedom.
In the Belmarsh case in 2001 ,for example, the freedom has been eroded. In this case, nine men have
been put in jail without trial due to UK parliament respond to the 9/11 attack in the USA. After the
judicial review, the Crime and Security Act has been changed from the government have the power to
detain anyone who was suspected without trial into the suspected terrorist can only be held without
trial up to 28 days. Human right has been eroded and people s freedom are therefore not secure
anymore (Ginsburg, 2005). Freedom of religion, another feature of liberal democracy becomes
controversial under Huntington s view of the clash of civilizations. According to Huntington s point of
view that the fundamental source of conflict in this new world will not be primarily ideological or
primarily economic, the great division among humankind and the dominating source of conflict will
be cultural (1996), therefore, the freedom of religion would have a possibility leads to conflict. As this
brings the question to choices between either freedom or conflict, some country chooses to abandon
freedom of religion. For example, in China government forbids the beliefs to Fa Lun Gong as it partly
clashes with the communist ideology. From the side of liberal democracy, democracy is decreasing
because of the fact that freedom is been

Critical or Transitional Temperature
BASIC CONCEPT
Critical temperature: The temperature at which the resistance of a material suddenly drops to zero is
termed as critical or transition temperature.
Superconductors: The phenomenon of disappearance of electrical resistance below a certain
temperature is termed as superconductivity and the material in this state is termed as superconductor.
The resistance of a metal decreases with decrease in temperature and reaches a certain minimum value
but the process of cooling down a material in order to convert into a superconductor is very costly and
hence a lot of research was undertaken for this purpose. They have zero resistance and perfect
diamagnetism. https://encrypted tbn0.gstatic.com/images?

Meissner effect: When a superconductor is cooled below critical temperature in an external magnetic
field then the lines of induction at transition are pushed out of the material and this phenomenon is
termed as Meissner effect.
Application of strong magnetic fled results in breakdown of the superconductor and loses its
superconducting properties. Based on the breakdown superconductors are of two types, they are:
Type 1: Superconductivity is destroyed with the application of magnetic field greater than a certain
value, Hc1. .
Type 2: Superconductivity of the material reaches a mixed state with the application of magnetic field
greater than a certain value, Hc1. where the magnetic field can penetrate the

Optional Dispute Resolution
Mediation is a form of optional dispute resolution process. It can be applied in noncriminal cases such
as conflict resolution agreements, business, employment and so forth. To make mediation process
successful, all disputing parties must work cooperatively for resolution. The neutral mediator is
needed for this work who can negotiate the fair resolution of their dispute. Based on this fact, this
section wants to show some regulations that would be key factors to keeping mediator mediation
process on the way toward a fair and agreeable resettlement.
a. Decision makers have to participate: involving physically or participating in the mediation process
is very important aspect because it gives a chance to obtain a realistic understanding of the conflict
and also getting a chance to express own views, interest, agendas, and concerns.

The community and individual joint recognition of responsibilies are a positive value because
mediators would place the responsibility on building a new structure with maintaining a vital
mechanism for the direct expression and reduction of conflicts that would able to control in the hands
of the disputing parties (Berman, L. J. 2016). Discussion over mediation process is useful when we
considered three important aspects such as; preserving the important relationship, allowing for
sensitive negotiations to occur in private and allowing for negotiations to be confidential. Finally, this
paper would like to recommend an important mediation process that must be discussed as advanced
mediation course with understandable, convenient, comfortable, trustworthy, motivate, justifiable,
timely, affordable, confidential, healing, empowering and effective

  • 2. Michael Moore Capitalism Synopsis Michael Moore is the writer and director of the highly relevant documentary film, Capitalism: A Love Story. To me, the most interesting chapter of the film is Dead Peasants. Moore talked about capitalism is a system of giving and taking, mostly taking . In my opinion, it sounds true for me. Moore illustrated Irma Johnson s husband Dan ironic case. Who recently died of cancer, leaving behind Irma and their two sons. They filmed the woman cried and sadly talked about her husband. Her husband worked in middle management at Amegy Bank in Houston, Texas. Amegy had taken out a secret life insurance policy on Dan s life. The bank generously named itself as the beneficiary in the event of Dan s death. Dan s death made them $1.5 million richer by the insurance company accidentally informed Irma that Amegy Bank had received a check for $1.5 million just weeks after Dan died. Irma Johnson cried in pain that she didn t know anything and they never told her. Why the company try to profit from employee s death?. How are these companies able to get away with this?. Moore might be answer those kinds of question in sarcastic way : I guess that s the point of capitalism. It allows you to get away with anything, like making a profit off the death of an employee. Detection Ratio Of Cyber Attack Detection Improved the Detection Ratio of Cyber Attack Using Feature Reduction Based on Support Vector Machine and Glowworm Optimization Abstract The swarm intelligence plays vital role in feature reduction process in cyber attack detection. The family of swarm intelligence gives bucket of algorithm for the processing of feature reduction such as ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization and many more. In family of swarm new algorithm is called glowworm optimization algorithm based on the concept of luciferin. The luciferin collects the similar agent of glow and proceeds the minimum distance for the processing of lights. Such concept used for the reduction of feature in cyber attack classification. The reduce attribute classified by well know classifier is called support vector machine. The combination of support vector machine and glowworm swarm optimization performs very well in compression of pervious feature reduction technique. The proposed algorithm is implemented in MATLAB software, for the validation of algorithm used KDDCUP99 dataset. Keywords Cyber Attack, Feature Reduction, GSO, SVM 1. • 4. The Beat Poetry Revolution Of The 1950-1960s Every revolution has begun with a vision. The beat poetry rebellion s just happened to be opioid induced. Picture this: the 1950 s. With the threat of nuclear war on the horizon during the Cold War, the citizens of the United States began to detest their government. In 1952, homosexuality was officially classed as a mental disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In 1955, Allen Ginsberg first performed Howl, which would soon become the most widely controversial beat poem, including scenes of illegal drugs and illegal sex practices. What is considered obscene when the government demolishes entire cities without blinking an eye? What are the limits? The beat poetry revolution of the 1950 60s was influenced by the New Vision, which compromised the current cultural beliefs of sexuality, religion, and drug use. The beat poetry revolution (or beat generation ) was a movement that spread through New York City and San Francisco during the late 1940 s to the end of the 1960 s. This movement was created to free poetry from the strains of academia and therefore, it allowed expressive and sexualized poetry to be spoken and presented to the public. According to a common dictionary, poetry is a piece of writing that has the intention of evoking emotion from the reader or listener using style and rhythm. The beats changed the perception of what was acceptable. Free verse poetry (poetry written without rhyme or structure) was blended with spoken word to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Electronic Communications Privacy Act ( Ecpa ) Abstract The Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) was a pretty progressive law at the time it was enacted. It enhanced the privacy protection that was originally delineated in the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 by also adding communication protection for pagers, email, cell phones, service providers, and computer transmissions. The ECPA addressed the legal privacy issues that were surfacing with the rising use of networks, computers and other new innovations in electronic communications. The first large computers had been built as early as the 1950s, with the first development of a mass market microcomputer starting in 1977. Wiretap Act The Wiretap Act has provisions that safeguard an individual s telephonic and computer based voice communications from being captured, used or released by another individual. This Act prohibits the listen in on and electronic bugging, the physical custody of bugging or tapping equipment, as well as the use or disclosure of information unlawfully obtained from the use of said equipment. • 6. Diagnosis Of The Community At Risk Essay Asthma in Oakland California Description of the Community at Risk Asthma has become a rising issue at hand, especially in Oakland, California. Asthma is at an all time high in Oakland because of the factories and smog that surrounds the local communities. After conducting research, I decided to dig deeper in asthma in Oakland because I wanted to learn more and to see if there was a way to reduce the rise of asthma. Asthma in Oakland is an issue for all ages, especially the younger ones because their lungs are still developing. For my term paper, I plan to explore the disproportionate burden of hazard of the population of air quality in Oakland, California, an area that is impacted by factory smoke, which can lead to asthma in children who are 18 years of age or younger. Along with Oakland, I came across research on Alameda County as well and decided to include some of the findings from the articles. Oakland does not have the best or suitable air quality due to the large number of the factories that surround the local communities so the quality of air is affected as well as the individuals who have asthma. The factory exhaust and smoke make it harder for individuals with asthma to breathe and the poor air quality can send them into an asthma attack. Also, some of the schools in Oakland need to make sure they are up to date and have proper measures for children s safety in the schools meaning proper ventilation. Few people have large separate dining rooms, such facilities either comprising part of the kitchen or the living room, or are small rooms with limited floor area. 1. Use Light Colors Light colors tend to open out a room while dark shades tend to make it look smaller. However, light need not mean drab, and whites and pastels can be accented with a bright contrasting color. This is particularly effective when color is use to draw attention to specific decorative elements. Don t overuse color, though. Small Dining Room Acoustics One of the more useful dining room tips that you do not often find is to deaden the acoustics in the room. A small room with plain walls and woodblock flooring will reflect sound waves, so that conversation will appear to boom and reverberate, particularly as the evening goes on and the wine starts to take effect! While a highly polished or even rustic wood table looks nice, it is more practical to use a tablecloth. This not only protects the table from scratches and dropped food, but also absorbs sound waves. Fabric wall coverings also look good while wallpaper is better that paint or paneling. Each of these helps to deaden sound so that you can hear what people are saying without the booming and reflection of their voices. 6. Dining Room Tips: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Analysis of the First Paragraph of O Connor s The Artificial Nigger ?In The Artificial Nigger, Flannery O Connor commingles characteristic Christian imagery with themes evocative of her Southern setting. In this essay, a close reading of the first paragraph of this story elucidates the subtle ways in which O Connor sets up these basic themes of redemption and forgiveness. An additional paragraph will examine the ramifications of this reading on the intertwined racial aspects of the story, which are connected by a common theme of master/servant imagery, which is integral to the first paragraph. Head, symbolically undergirding all of humanity. The symbolism reminds this reader of the Irish poet Brendan Kenneally s line: to serve the age, betray it. The act of betraying and the resultant Christian forgiveness, this reading suggests,is fundamental to humankind s existence on earth. O Connor continues with the moonlight imagery, but casts it in dichotomous terms. The moon s light spilling into the bedroom paused as if it were waiting for his permission to enter but upon entering, cast a dignifying light on everything. References indicative of servitude continue with the depiction of the trousers thrown upon the chair like the garment some great man had just flung to his servant and in the characterization of the chair stiff and attentive as if it was awaiting an order. Such portrayals set up for the reader the curious relationship between Mr. Head and his grandson, where the roles each character plays often switch Mr. Head s moral lesson that he expects to teach Nelson is successful, but a similar moral lesson is taught to Mr. Head through Nelson, who becomes the agent of forgiveness who facilitates a deeper understanding within his grandfather s soul. The connection between father/son and/or master/servant is often overturned in this story. In finishing this first paragraph, O Connor comments implicitly on the servant imagery by ... • 9. Social Attitudes In The Great Gatsby I felt a haunting loneliness sometimes, and felt it in others young clerks in the dusk, wasting the most poignant moments of night and life (Fitzgerald, p.xx). This is the feeling one might feel in their lives no matter how much money they have. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby to portray the different social attitudes within the upper class. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was 29 years old when The Great Gatsby was published on April 10, 1925. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald sheds light on the different personalities between the aged rich families and the modern rich families. An example of the sophistication of Gatsby are the elaborate parties he throws for the people he invites, while on the other hand, Tom and Daisy have a simple dinner with only a few people over. The emptiness one might feel at any time in their life cannot be fulfilled with money but only with other friends surrounding one. Gatsby is characterized as a very elaborate man sophisticated in his ways. He is always seen throwing extravagant parties with only the best of the best belongings in his home. One week ends his Rolls Royce became an omnibus, bearing parties to and from the city between nine in the morning and long past midnight, while his station wagon scampered like a brisk yellow bug to meet all trains. ( Melville, p.39). Nick explains the bizarre lifestyle that Gatsby had with all his parties. Although, throughout Gatsby s life, the reader is able to see the emptiness he feels without Daisy. I,m just going to wait here and see if he tries to bother her about that unpleasantness this afternoon. She s locked herself into her room, and if he tries any brutality she s going to turn the light out and on again. (Melville, p.144). Here, the reader recognizes the love Gatsby has for daisy. He is willing to wait all night in order to be sure of her protection. Gatsby has called off all of his parties and fired all of his servants just to spend time with daisy. In doing this, Gatsby shows great qualities that one should look for in another person: love, loyalty, trust, and a kind heart. Unfortunately, these attributes led to Gatsby s death, ... • 10. Deadly Disease of West Nile Virus West Nile Virus Disease The first recorded case of the West Nile virus was in the West Nile area (Uganda) of Africa in 1937 as stated by Peairs (2014) (para. 5). The virus has spread in recent years to Europe and the United States, causing illness in birds, horses, and humans. Peairs (2014) also stated that the first case of the virus in the U.S. was detected in 1999 in New York City (para. 8). Today, the virus has expanded across the U.S. and continues to infect thousands of people each year. The West Nile virus is most frequently transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. The people who acquire this virus are usually asymptomatic, although, in severe cases, this virus can cause serious neurological diseases or can ultimately lead to death. The World Health Organization (2011) states that the West Nile virus is commonly found in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and West Asia. There are currently no medications or vaccine available to treat or prevent the West Nile virus, though there are several ways that one can protect themselves and ways one can ease the symptoms of the virus. According to Sejvar (2014), the ongoing outbreak of the West Nile virus in North America has greatly expanded our understanding of the spectrum of illness associated with the West Nile Virus infection in humans, and a number of previously under recognized syndromes have been characterized (para. 2). • 12. Allegory In The Handmaids Tale The post Gileadean society depicted decades after Offred s story is the final allegory, presenting, in its totality, the cyclicality of human nature. Just as the rise of Gilead showed the downfall of liberalism and feminism, the fall of Gilead showed the exact opposite, a return to a world very similar to the one before Gilead ever existed. In the novel, a symposium on the history of Gilead describes how Gilead is a fascinating and worthwhile talk (299), using many similar descriptors as are used to speak of the other classically conservative religious society, Puritanical Massachusetts. Moira marched straight out the front door (132). Even under the crushing oppression of Gilead, people like Moira and Offred keep up their resentment towards being told what to do, even if the format changes. It is described how in Gilead, Offred decides against being a victim: I intend to last , she declares. To last, she must pay attention. Especially early on in the novel, she is alert to every detail around her (Neuman 4). On the more negative spectrum of unchanging human qualities, Atwood presents the eternal establishment of social classes, even with the purported ideas that everyone be equal in oppression. In Gilead racial and social divides abound, as it is reported how The Econowives do not like [Handmaids] (Atwood 44). This, and the fact that the symposium describes the racism that occurred in Gilead, shows how, no matter what the society is, people will always carve out a space for them on the social ladder, only to look down on those below them and envy those above them. Oftentimes, the characters who are identified as being rude, deranged, immoral, overconfident, idolaters, and even cruel, are the ones who belong to the upper class. For example, in The Cask of Amontillado, Montresor wishes to kill the wealthy Fortunato because of a thousand injuries and an insult. While neither the injuries nor the insult is mentioned, Fortunato is shown insulting the intelligence of his acquaintance, Luchresi, by calling him an, ignoramus, and saying that he, cannot tell Amontillado from sherry. There are two significant factors within the breakdown of United States Soviet relations following World War II. First is the ideological incongruence within the communist capitalist dichotomy. It is important that an American trying to do business in Saudi Arabia understand the hierarchy so they don t offend anybody. Uncertainty Avoidance describes a society s comfort with uncertainty (Ball 100). The Saudi Arabian culture prefers to avoid uncertainty, meaning they feel the need to have strict laws and rules, and expect to have clear procedures to maintain the status quo. (Ball 100). An American trying to do business in Saudi Arabia will need to remember that change is not welcomed so innovation may be resisted (The Hofstede Center). Masculinity femininity dimension describes the gap between the roles of men and women in the culture (Ball 100). Saudi Arabia is a masculine society meaning that both men are typically more assertive and competitive. Although there aren t as many women working in Saudi Arabia, the women that do work are considered to be assertive and competitive, just like their male counterparts. An American would need to keep this in mind in regards to management because the culture expects management to be decisive and assertive (The Hofstede Center). He held his own privacy in such high esteem that the location and memories of his childhood home, family and every event of his past were familiar to no one but he. This state of mind had not been triggered by a tragic or traumatic event, nor by an unpleasant childhood, this was simply the way Adonis elected to live his life. Even though a man like he, with such a fervent requisite for confidentiality and secrecy, there had been a scarce few moments that the small number that he deemed sacrosanct were allowed a glimpse into the lone soul that was Adonis Lloyd. • 19. Obama And Castro Relationship Analysis A New Relationship in the Works After Obama and Castro Meet in Cuba On March 21, 2016, President Barack Obama delivered a joint press conference with Cuban President Raul Castro at the Revolution Palace in Havana. Obama is the first United States president to visit Cuba in nearly a century. Having it been the first official contact between their two governments in an extraordinarily long time, the two engaged in awkwardly blunt exchanges throughout the press conference. Both mentioned that they were committed to continuing on a path to normalizing relations. Although this was mentioned, there was an underlying hostility between the two as they criticized each other s countries throughout the press conference. A reporter asked Castro about the dissidents his government has arrested and he replied by saying, Give me a list of the political prisoners and I will release them immediately. Illiteracy Essay With the ease of the access of the internet, there is a boom of illiteracy, not just illiteracy in reading and writing, but also the way that the way that we interact with each other, such as being emotionally illiterate. Illiteracy is the quality or state of being illiterate; the inability to read or write. Additionally, being illiterate is showing or being marked by a lack of familiarity with a certain subject, such as languages. Illiterate adults experience poorer health outcomes, less financial security, and lower life expectancies compared to the overall population. Illiteracy has long been recognized that illiteracy is an intergenerational trend that is passed on from parent to child. It imposes a considerable burden on the family or support system of the individual in question, as illiterate adults are highly dependent on others to function and survive. Family members often must do the grocery shopping, pay the bills, fill out forms and documents, and manage the financial affairs of illiterate. Children s parents who did not complete school or have trouble with literacy skills are more likely to be illiterate themselves and are more than five times as likely to drop out of high school as other children. Illiteracy affects society at large through the financial burden that imposes lost productivity and increased taxes for welfare programs, prisons, and crime prevention programs. • 21. The Emperor Is Wearing No Clothes, By Mark Henkal Mark Henkal is the self described National Polygamy Advocate. In his speech The Emperor is Wearing No Clothes, he argues the case of why Christian polygamy should be accepted. He uses four main points to get his opinion across: grace law hypocrisy, polygamists in the Bible, the meaning of adultery and one flesh, and prohibitions of leaders in the Bible. An individual with little to no Biblical knowledge might find that his argument makes sense. Just listening to the speech, without any critical thinking involved, might even persuade those with slightly more Biblical knowledge. Although outwardly he may seem to make solid arguments, there is much more to the polygamy argument than he brought forth. The first justification for polygamy that he presents is that it was not banned, but was regulated under the law, therefore causing polygamy to be an accepted form of lifestyle. The verses given to support this claim are Exodus 21:10, If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing, and marital rights, and Deuteronomy 21:15, if a man has two wives..., but there are issues with how these verses are being used. The Bible is not addressing the issue of polygamy in these verses. They are being taken out of context and bent to please the will of one man; the former is under the context of servants and the latter is about the rights of the firstborn son. Based on this, I would say that this point invalid and not worth further discussion. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While early depictions of a prostitute describe a woman who plagues society, later portrayals offer a much more human and sympathetic view. Across many works of the 19th century, there are several images of the prostitute that change overtime to reflect society s view of these women. Between the character, Nana from Emile Zola s novel and Lulu from the silent film Pandora s Box, there is visible evolution of the 19th century prostitute and her relationship to society. The 1929 silent film is based off a set of plays called the Lulu plays from the late 19th century, and offers a more positive portrayal of a prostitute compared to earlier works from the era. One aspect of Lulu that is not incorporated into the earlier 19th century image of a prostitute is the prospect of marriage. Lulu is allowed to enter the upper class tier of life and does so through marrying the Doctor. Allowing for a prostitute to be marry contradicts the early image of an immoral woman that was associated with prostitutes like Nana. Along with this shift in social status, Lulu is much more of a victim than earlier prostitutes like Nana were. By some circumstances, Lulu is forced into prostitution by her father. Where prostitutes from the early 19th century had always been the gross plague of society, with Lulu, she is a victim and a man (her father) is shown to be the immoral character. This point is further supported by Lulu s death. While most prostitutes from earlier works succumb to a disease of their own body, Lulu is murdered. Again, Lulu is the victim not the cause of her suffering. The differences in the portrayal of Nana and Lulu show an eveolution of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The short story has a face paced touch, which moves quickly towards the climax and released the resolution right after. The short story was narrated in third person in order to reveal the actions and the dialogue between a man and a woman which expressed separation, struggle, miscommunication, and conflict between the couple. In the beginning of the short story there was already a sense of separation between the couple through how the husband or boyfriend is described as packing up his clothes because he plans on leaving the house. When the wife or girlfriend comes home, she realizes what is going on and feels pleased that he is leaving, however she is a bit aroused. It is important to show the physical distance between the couple because it expresses that they do not want to be together anymore. Once the man is ready to leave, a physical fight breaks lose about whether who takes custody of the baby. All throughout the short story, the narrator never states why the couple wants to separate and gives little detail about the couple. This allows the readers to become active in what they are reading by having the freedom to understand and develop their own opinions about what is going on throughout the short story. • 24. Meanings Are Transmitted Throughferred On By... Whatever the implications of poems are, its meanings are transmitted throughferred on by significations and undertones as well as by the writer s game plan of words into expressions, conditions, and sentences to accomplish specific impacts. The organization of words into significant verbal arrangements is called sentence structure or syntax. An artist can control the sentence structure of a line to place stress on a word. This is particularly clear when a writer changes the typical word order (Weaver, 2014). Word Choice When constructing a poem, the author is very careful in the choice of words they may use and how they arrange those words. The author/poet uses word tools such as tone, diction (formal and informal), colloquialism, , denotations and connotations, and whatever jargons were used during the author specific timeframe. Tone Tone is the author s demeanor toward the subject, the state of mind made by the greater part of the components that are within the poem. Composing, similar to dialog, can be portrayed as genuine or light, miserable or glad, private or open, furious or tender, sharp or nostalgic, or by whatever other states of mind and sentiments that individuals experience (Weaver, 2014). Diction Like every good writer, poets are distinctly mindful of lingual authority, their decision of words they utilize. Luigi Federico Menabrea had written up the lectures in the French work, Sketch of Charles Babbage s Analytical Engine. Though Babbage would never build the Analytical Engine, its concept was groundbreaking for the time. It was essentially the first idea for a programmable computer. Ada was so fascinated with the topic that she decided to translate the work into English. Babbage was impressed with her work and asked her why she had not herself written an original paper on a subject which she is so intimately acquainted (du Preez 108). At the time, women rarely were able to publish original work. They were usually forced to do as Ada did, merely translate the work of men. Ada successfully managed to circumvent this obstacle by adding a series of notes to Babbage s original text. Her notes ended up being three times as long as the original, and even corrected many of the mistakes that Babbage had made. He noted that in doing so Ada was able to enter fully into almost all the very difficult and abstract questions connected with the subject (du Preez 108). These notes laid out the concept of computer programming and the required elements for a computer language. Unfortunately, Ada was still required to use a pseudonym, her initials A.A.L, in order to get the notes published in journals. Given these statistics, it is easy to see why the charity donor relationship is so important to charitable organizations. However, a study conducted for the Direct Marketing Association revealed that donors also feel it is important to have meaningful relationships with nonprofit organizations (Association Management 1996). And yet, the desire for close relationships does not guarantee full coffers or a full roster of volunteers. For although baby boomers indicate that they intend to give more, they are cynical of charities and demand greater accountability for how their donations are used, as well as tangible evidence of the good that this money is doing (Fund Raising Management 1999a). As stated by Rachman (2004), anxiety is described as the experience of unpleasant feelings and the unsettling anticipation of a threatening but vague event. Anxiety can be experienced in many different ways, such as feeling tense, uncertain, and perhaps, fearful at the thought of a particular phenomenon or event. There are two main types of anxieties; state anxiety and trait anxiety. Endler Kocovski (2001) have explained that state and trait anxiety both result from mental assessments of a potential threat. Unlike trait, state anxiety is described as a temporary condition, where once the perceived threatening object or event goes away, the individual no longer experiences the symptoms of anxiety. Individuals who exhibit state anxiety will normally feel anxious when going to job interviews, speaking in front of large crowds or sitting exams. State anxiety is considered to be useful at particular times, by making us more alert and enhance our performance, thus creating a fight or flight response (Rachman, 2004). However, in some cases where the feeling of anxiety is too overwhelming, it can have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Adapting to a Long Term Care Facility Essay The character Dorothy said in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, there is no place like home (Baum, 1960, p. 45). Sadly, many of our elderly live in Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF). The transition from living in their own homes, to living in a LTCF, can be a traumatic experience. Poor adaptation to a LTCF may cause depression, malnutrition and significantly reduce the lifespan of the elder. Thus, it is imperative, that nurse s recognize this promptly. According to Agnes and Guralnik (2008) adaptation is a gradual change in behavior to conform to the prevailing cultural pattern (p. 15). When elders are placed in a LTCF, whether it be voluntarily or involuntarily, they must give up certain liberties that are taken for granted. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 160). She goes on to say that adaptation to a LTCF is the process by which someone copes with the transition into the life of being a LTCF client (p.159). How the elders view their situation also plays a major role on their adaptation to the LTCF. When someone views the environment in an absolute negative way, they are going to struggle to become adapted. On the other hand, if they look at the positives of the environment they may adapt more appropriately. According to Sister Callista Roy s theory, adaptation is the process and outcome of individuals and groups, who use conscious awareness, self reflection and choice to create human and environmental integration (Bergland and Kirkevold, 2006, p.686). This theory lends to adaptation of living in a LTCF by examining a key issue, the elders choice. With personal experience in this matter, it seems as if elders who make the decision of moving into a LTCF better adapt to the environment. In my opinion, a lot of how elders adapt to living in a LTCF depends on the choices they make. If they sit around, and think poor pitiful me, they will have a much harder time adapting to their new environment. If the elder becomes engaged in their new environment, they will adapt more efficiently. As Parker (2013) mentioned, she stays heavily involved in activities that the LTCF provides, but also performs a multitude of other activities in her apartment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Vlad was about either 12 or 13 he and his brother Radu were traded to the Turks by their father as hostages as to keep the treaty of peace between the two countries from ever being broken. While they were hostages the Turks taught them science and mathematics, and by the end of the four years they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Definition Of Frames A frame is a set of contexts and perspectives that defines how an individual perceives and responds to facts, events or people. Frames are intellectual stereotypes that make the interpretation of the world around us easy by filtering out details that we believe or have found in the past to be insignificant. This simplification sometimes has its own problems that can in turn be addressed by reframing. The deliberate and conscious management, reformation and refinement of frames that aims to address and minimize the conflict between how things are and how one perceives it, is called reframing. Reframing, essentially, is a process of analyzing, reshaping and improving frames so that the reflective practitioners may be able to better understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. What Is The Primary Source In Joseph Galloway Speech To... Before talking about Joseph Galloway s Speech to the Continental Congress, it is necessary for me to explain in a simpler way what a primary source is. A primary source is a document, an image or an artifact that provides a direct or firsthand evidence about an event, a person, an object or a work of art. Hence, historical documents, speeches, published works, autobiographies and so on, are primary sources. The Speech to the Continental Congress of 1744 is a discourse made by Joseph Galloway during the Continental Congress on the 28th September 1744. It is possible to read it on the Journals of the Continental Congress, 1774 1789: 1774. After the end of the French and Indian War (1754 1763), Britain saw itself with enormous debts to pay and ... Take into consideration Joseph Galloway s Speech to the Continental Congress. It is clear that he is trying to persuade the colonists not to go against Britain. Now, this speech is a primary source because is a document that provides explicit information about an event. But, a couple of years later, Thomas Paine writes the pamphlet Common Sense , where he advocates the country to be independent from Britain. If historians were only to use Joseph Galloway s primary source, they would never be able to know that not everyone was thinking the same way of him. • 45. Democracy Vs Representative Democracy Abraham Lincoln (2005) defined modern democracy in three part as government of the people , government by the people and government for the people . Democracy started in Greek around 500 B.C. with the simple meaning of people with power, nowadays democracy could be separate into two forms the direct democracy and the representative democracy. In this essay, I will argue that democracy is in crisis from the following aspect, fail of the direct democracy, the decline of representative democracy and the eroded right. Firstly, democracy is in crisis due to fail examples of direct democracy. Referendum a primary for of a direct democracy when people are directly consulted for government decision making and give the decision through a vote. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other than representative democracy, liberal democracy has an additional liberal feature, the freedom. In the Belmarsh case in 2001 ,for example, the freedom has been eroded. In this case, nine men have been put in jail without trial due to UK parliament respond to the 9/11 attack in the USA. After the judicial review, the Crime and Security Act has been changed from the government have the power to detain anyone who was suspected without trial into the suspected terrorist can only be held without trial up to 28 days. Human right has been eroded and people s freedom are therefore not secure anymore (Ginsburg, 2005). Freedom of religion, another feature of liberal democracy becomes controversial under Huntington s view of the clash of civilizations. According to Huntington s point of view that the fundamental source of conflict in this new world will not be primarily ideological or primarily economic, the great division among humankind and the dominating source of conflict will be cultural (1996), therefore, the freedom of religion would have a possibility leads to conflict. As this brings the question to choices between either freedom or conflict, some country chooses to abandon freedom of religion. For example, in China government forbids the beliefs to Fa Lun Gong as it partly clashes with the communist ideology. Critical or Transitional Temperature BASIC CONCEPT Critical temperature: The temperature at which the resistance of a material suddenly drops to zero is termed as critical or transition temperature. Superconductors: The phenomenon of disappearance of electrical resistance below a certain temperature is termed as superconductivity and the material in this state is termed as superconductor. The resistance of a metal decreases with decrease in temperature and reaches a certain minimum value but the process of cooling down a material in order to convert into a superconductor is very costly and hence a lot of research was undertaken for this purpose. They have zero resistance and perfect diamagnetism. https://encrypted tbn0.gstatic.com/images? q=tbn:ANd9GcTqUWD_mZmMFri_68IDz0XPxJunW7iX8uje1M3cmbVvdPtyCKl6wA Meissner effect: When a superconductor is cooled below critical temperature in an external magnetic field then the lines of induction at transition are pushed out of the material and this phenomenon is termed as Meissner effect. Application of strong magnetic fled results in breakdown of the superconductor and loses its superconducting properties. Based on the breakdown superconductors are of two types, they are: Type 1: Superconductivity is destroyed with the application of magnetic field greater than a certain value, Hc1. . Type 2: Superconductivity of the material reaches a mixed state with the application of magnetic field greater than a certain value, Hc1. where the magnetic field can penetrate the ... It can be applied in noncriminal cases such as conflict resolution agreements, business, employment and so forth. To make mediation process successful, all disputing parties must work cooperatively for resolution. The neutral mediator is needed for this work who can negotiate the fair resolution of their dispute. Based on this fact, this section wants to show some regulations that would be key factors to keeping mediator mediation process on the way toward a fair and agreeable resettlement. a.
