Philippine Government
What are the contributions of the previous government to the present system of government?
Looking back to the previous government systems in different periods in Philippine history, we
can see that our present government system is somehow shaped and patterned from the previous
systems that prevailed in our country. Pre historically we have seen how they established their
government and basically, we can say that it is far more primitive than the present system that we
have. However, the basic principles like the consultation of the datus to the elders can somehow be
seen in the present by the presence of political advisers where our president consults aside from the
members of the senate and the congress. The barangay system ... Show more content on

In 1972, President Ferdinand E. Marcos (1965 86) declared martial law, citing growing
lawlessness and open rebellion by the communist rebels as his justification. Marcos governed from
1973 until mid 1981 in accordance with the transitory provisions of a new constitution that
replaced the commonwealth constitution of 1935. He suppressed democratic institutions and
restricted civil liberties during the martial law period, ruling largely by decree and popular
referenda. The government began a process of political normalization during 1978 81, culminating
in the reelection of President Marcos to a 6 year term that would have ended in 1987. The Marcos
government s respect for human rights remained low despite the end of martial law on January 17,
1981. His government retained its wide arrest and detention powers. Corruption and favoritism
contributed to a serious decline in economic growth and development under Marcos.
The assassination of opposition leader Benigno (Ninoy) Aquino upon his return to the Philippines
in 1983, after a long period of exile, coalesced popular dissatisfaction with Marcos and set in
motion a succession of events that culminated in a snap presidential election in February 1986. The
opposition united under Aquino s widow, Corazon Aquino, and Salvador Laurel, head of the United
Nationalist Democratic Organization (UNIDO). The election was marred by widespread electoral
fraud on the part of Marcos and his supporters.

Parks and Recreation Aide A Parks and Recreation Aide for the city of Phoenix has a few
responsibilities. It is an entry level job, so many of the job duties are general unskilled work. A
park aide is responsible for keeping the park clean by performing non specific (ie no hazardous

supplies and delivering flyers. Park aides also occupy a customer service position, and are
responsible for collecting any applicable entry fees and manning the cash register. There are not

Throughout history, the states and the national government...
Throughout history, the states and the national government have dynamic and constantly changing
powers in the Constitution. The switch from dual federalism in which the national government and
the states have their own distinct powers and responsibilities to cooperative federalism in which the
national government and the states share power and responsibilities amongst each other, have taken
play during the Great Depressions in the United States. The Constitution defines the roles that the
national government and the states have, but interpretations of the responsibilities and relationships
between them have changed over time. In addition, the Tenth Amendment stated the limited powers
of the federal government and whatever power not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of the legalization of medical marijuana in certain states, the Obama Administration
favored the states in which if an individual follows the state laws, the individual will not be
prosecuted. This violated the Supremacy clause that puts the federal government as the supreme
and dominates over the state laws since the use of medical marijuana was legalized in 18 states
and the District of Columbia even though the federal law states that marijuana is an illegal drug.
Another example of the supremacy clause based on the idea of implied preemption is the Wyeth
verse Levine (2009) case. Diane Levine suffered a migraine headache and was treated with
Phenergan. A physician s assistant of Wyeth pharmaceutical company administered the drug
through an IV push, which was not stated as danger on the label. The injection of the drug hit the
artery instead of the intended vein, which caused Levine to amputate most of her arm. This caused
for Levine to sue Wyeth in Vermont Superior Court since she felt that it was their responsibility
due to their negligence and unawareness of informing the patient. On the other hand, Wyeth
believes that since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the label and the IV push
method was not declared as forbidden, then they should not be liable for the damages caused. The
Vermont Superior Court ruled in favor of Levine since Wyeth could have added more warnings to
the label

Amazon and 3d Printing
3d printing is no longer a theory or a concept. It has been available to industrial manufactures for
the last few year but now as technology is advancing at its usual frightening pace the first home
consumer printers are becoming available and like the original printers they are rapidly moving
on from their slow, expensive and cumbersome beginnings . The Makerbot replicator 2 is an
example of a 3d printer available to the consumer retailing for approx $2000. 3d printingrelies on
additive manufacturingwhich allows objects to be built layer by layer only using the exact amount
of material needed reducing waste and of course allowing for more complicated designs to be
printed in full form. Users can design a 3d model in computer software... Show more content on

Not until iTunes years later was there a platform to purchase Mp3s and digital media and the
industry could start to use this technology to improve customers experience and revenue streams
instead of fighting it. Amazon has proven itself to be at the forefront of adapting to technology
changes with the kindle book store offering a platform for downloading digital books and this
meant book piracy never reached the rampant levels of music piracy. As Amazon has an
extraordinary large consumer base it is in a unique position to offset potential physical 3d piracy
by offering a platform for customers to download 3d print files and products. It is important for
the company to be quick and decisive in changing its business model to adapt to this technology
as like the music industry proved, if ignored too long consumers will be ready, willing and capable
of pirating physical products. Only this time it is not only one music industry that is affected but
dozens of physical and manufacturing industries such as toys, accessories, jewellery , furniture and
many more. If this were to happen Amazon would lose out massively as a reseller of these products
along with the manufactures themselves . User creation and consumer centric products 3d printing

Analysis Of The Article Let s Make A Slave
After reading the assigned literature, I have now cast a light on several issues that are currently
causing problems today. The article titled, Let s Make A Slave, was depressing because it almost
forced one to go back in time and feel the plight of Africans Americans before slavery was
outlawed. William Lynch traveled a great ways to inform the people of the Virginia Colony about
slaveryand how it should truly be done. As I was reading, it seemed as though William Lynch was
reading the instructions for a product (and not a human being) but he actually was talking about
people (African Americans). The speech that he prepared was delivered was so much conviction
that it made it very hard to believe that African Americans could have been treated any other way.
The Europeans (during slavery) did not respect Black peopleand regarded to them as uncivilized
niggers (The Black Arcade Liberation Library, 1970,p2) and sought nothing more than to treat them
like the money making machines they were. During the speech, William Lynch was talking about
several topics that are still lingering today (certain aspects have been passed down from generation
to generation). For instance, African Americanmales were used to breed and once that job was done
they were immediately separated from their family (leaving the mother to raise the negro child).
The slave owners sought to pin the dark skinned Blacks against the light skinned Blacks and this
was to ensure that there

Hillary Clinton Speech Analysis
At the fourth U.N. conference, Hillary Clinton gave a powerful speech about women s rights.
Hillary Clinton emphasizes that although women have been given more freedom and rights as
the years went by, it still isn t enough. In her speech, Clinton goes on to say that if women are free
from violence, their families will flourish. If women have a chance to work and earn as full and
equal partners in society, their families will flourish. And when families flourish, their communities
and nations do as well . Hillary Clinton used appeals to emotions, logic, and ethics to convey to the
audience that women s rights should be normalized and embraced around the world.
Hillary Rodham Clinton has many titles under her belt such as politician , first lady , senator etc.
but no title gives her a bigger sense of pride than being a woman . She believes to be a woman is
to be strength, power, and grace which she exudes with every step she takes. Growing up, Clinton
always dreamed of being a significant figure in the progression of women s rights. Some of the
prominent steps that Clinton took to pave the way for women and children include: becoming an
advocate for kids and families at the Children s Defense Fund, fighting for the Family and Medical
Leave Act, working to increase funding for childcare, and helping to start the National Campaign to
End Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.

Summary Of Fantasyland, How America Went Haywire
Author Kurt Anderson mostly blames a certain group of people in his book Fantasyland, How
America went Haywire. In a nutshell, Protestants are the problem. Anderson spends chapter after
chapter, starting with Martin Luther and continuing through American history of how Protestant
beliefs have been detrimental to America. In his view which comes across as snide and derisive,
they are the bane of American existence because they believe in magic and supernaturalthings and
have left most of reason behind. Anderson practically sneers (many words are in italics for
emphasis) when he writes of Protestants. Certainly, some Protestants may be gun nuts, and
preppers but not all. Most of my Protestant friends don t own a gun and they send their children to
public school. (Anderson is not a fan of homeschooling or private religious education).
I found Anderson to be one of those people who believes his way is the only way to live. He
chronicles that taking illegal drugs taught him character. This is a rather strange way to build
character, hard work and helping others is what I was taught by my baby boomer Protestant
parents. He lives in Brooklyn, I believe, and feels that the American s dream of a pastoral setting
(the suburbs ) has ruined the entire country. This is a great big land and not everyone wants to or
needs to live on top of each other in a city. Yes, Americans have many cars, but my husband and I
take public transportation to the city from our suburban home. The author

Procrastinator And Slacker Analysis
All people spend at least a little time in the four of quadrants: procrastinator, prioritizer, yes man,
and slacker. The quadrants represent your habits on importance and urgency in relation to your
priorities. Although I spend most of my time as a prioritizer, I can remove the yes man from my
life by being a better prioritizer and learning how to say no to people. The first and fourth
quadrants, procrastinator and slacker, are the two worst quadrants to be in. Both leave you with
low quality performance, stress, guilt, and a lot of wasted time. Procrastinators and slackers do not
plan anything out, nor do they worry about the quality of their work, only that it eventually gets
done, sometime in the future. At this point in my life, I relate

Inhibitory Control
Inhibitory control has been defined as a structure that grants the suppression of actions that are
considered not appropriate (Bjorklund Harnishfeger, 1995). This structure is a weighty component
in completing how mental processes work together in the achievement of a task (Dowsett Livesey,
2000). Older research has suggested that the development of inhibitory control in homo sapiens was
a major factor in the evolution of intelligence (Stenhouse, 1974). Later research further supports this
claim by suggesting that Inhibitory control is important in intelligence (Kochanska, Murray,
Jacques, Koenig, Vandegeest, 1996). Research into inhibitory control has found that Inhibitory
control is linked to impairment in a substantial amount of neurological disorders (Peterson et al.,
1998). Inhibitory control is typically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further research on the A not B taskby Diamond (1991) supported the finding that young infants
have poor inhibitory control (Diamond, 1991). Strooping tasks with negative priming have been
used to measure inhibitory control. The findings from this task have suggested that unwanted
responses may be inhibited (Pritchard Neumann, 2009). There have also been other ways to
measure inhibitory control. Among populations where inhibitory control has been found to be
impaired, fMRI scans have been used to measure inhibitory control. For example, fMRI scans have
been used to measure inhibitory control among those with autism (Kana, Keller, Minshew Just,
2007; Agnostou, Sorrya, Fan, Stamper, Hollander, 2006). Neuroimaging research has also been
used among populations where inhibitory control has been found to be impaired. For example,
neuroimaging research was used to measure inhibitory control among those with ADHD
(Castellanos Tannock, 2002; Swansonet al., 2007).There have been many populations where
inhibitory control has been found to be impaired. Kana et

Linda Thomas Brush Fire
Those who have lived through natural disasters view them differently than those who have not.
Experience helps us understand circumstances in a new way. In the essays Brush Fire by Linda
Thomas, and The Santa Ana by Joan Didion, the authors perceive the mysterious Santa Ana winds
that blow through California, and the deadly brush fires that it creates. Through the use of imagery,
word choice, tone, and description the authors depict the beauty and destruction that they see from
the point of view of a native or an outsider.
Thomas, a California native, describes the Santa Ana brush fires in a more excited and
astonished tone. Since she is a native, she decides not to display her experiences to the reader in
a factual way. Instead, she writes more informally, and uses techniques such as word choice and
imagery to display the beauty that she sees. The condition is perfect for fire that can rush up a
canyon like a locomotive, roaring and exploding brush as it rages. While describing a particularly
hot and dry spring, Thomas uses both imagery and simile to depict the fiery winds as a train rushing
over the brush. She does not only make this comparison for dramatic effect to entice the reader, but
she also does it because she sees the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Didion uses vivid imagery and description to portray saddening deaths around the time of the

winds without ever experiencing them. Since Didion uses second hand accounts, the writing is
given a distant and almost fearful tone. This is because the writing is no longer personal, therefore
it impacts the way that the reader perceives the message that the writing is trying to

Pleural Mesothelioma Essay
If you or anyone you know have been exposed to such things as hazardous materials containing
asbestos you may want to get checked out by a physician. Asbestos poisoning can lead to a cancer
known as mesothelioma. There are several different types of mesothelioma as well including;
Malignant pleural mesothelioma This type is a malignant cancer of the lungs, which is the most
common type of the disease seen in patients suffering due to the inhalation of the asbestos fibers.
This can be caused by working in such hazardous occupations as welding and fabrication plants,
various types of construction, and many other industrial occuptions handling hazardous scrap
materials. Pleural mesothelioma is most commonly apparent before other forms of the cancer, as
the lungs are the first organ exposed to the asbestos. Malignant pleural mesothelioma is the most
common as opposed to just pleural mesothelioma as the exposure rate of the lungs is higher than
other organs, and cancerous growth is more eminent.
Peritoneal mesothelioma is a type of cancer that affects mesothelium lining of the abdomen, and is
due to exposure of asbestos dust. Most cases seen are in some way pleural affecting the lungs as
the asbestos fibers must be inhaled through the airways in order to enter the body in the first place.

in each of the corporate structures (Exhibit 1). Even more recently, the idea of utilizing a cloud

to facilitate data processing and availability. Nevertheless, with cloud computing comes several
confidentiality issues that worry its users, especially those users who utilize the platform to transit

installed in a computer, is able to store sensitive information such as: names and credit card

Edward Luttwak s Analysis On Military Force, Military...
Edward Luttwak s analysis of Roman strategy evaluates the link between military force, military
power, policy, and deterrence. Luttwak describes force as the actual application of a state s
military capability while power is derived from the state s perceived ability to impose force. The
Romans employed a combination of force and power to achieve their policy aims regarding
security. Deterrence provides security by relying on power and the threat of force to prevent an
adversary from committing an unwanted act. Today, United States policy leverages the nation s
perceived power, bolstered by its potential to employ force, in order to deter aggression by
potential adversaries and enhance security. To begin, it is important to explore Luttwak s
definitions of force and power. He describes the use of militaryforce as a finite ability to directly
apply military means in order to force an adversary s compliance. A state s ability to use force is
thus limited by the size of its military capabilityand its ability to concentrate that capability against
an enemy. More importantly, once military forces are committed to an action they are no longer
available to pursue other objectives and are essentially consumed. The implication is that reliance
on military force limits a state s ability to achieve its objectives to the amount of force it can
employ at a given time and place. Examples of the finite nature of military force are numerous.

The Role Of Director Of The New Zealand Aid Programme Essay
I write to you in the hopes you will consider my application for the role of the Director of the New
Zealand Aid Programme (NZAP).
Studying the inconsistent implementation of past aid policies, I will use the Pacific to outline my
vision for the direction of future aid administration. Guided by the principle purpose of New
Zealand s first independent aid organisation, NZAID, and in keeping with international aid trends,
my vision for NZAP would work towards one clear goal: the elimination of poverty.
New Zealand aid policies have been reorganised over the past few decades, influenced by both
international practices and domestic politics. Effected in the years following World War II as
many Pacific nations gained independence, early aid approaches aligned with global
development policies and bilateral structures proposed by the Colombo Plan (Banks et al., 2012).
New Zealand aid provision increased through the 1970s, before dropping rapidly between the
1980s and 1990s with the adoption of neoliberal policies, deviating to focus on the implementation
of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the 2000s (Banks et al., 2012). Helen Clark s
reigning Labour Government, established NZAID in 2002, adopting policies which sought to
rectify the damage wrought during the lost decade when National s neoliberal policies saw the
introduction of Structural Adjustment Policies (SAPs) and drastic reduction of New Zealand s
Official Development Assistance (ODA) (Banks et al., 2012;

How Does Shakespeare Present Death In Sonnet 73
While talking to Seaton, Macbeth states, My way of life/ Is fall n into the sere, the yellow leaf
(5.3.25). Macbeth acknowledges his aging, but in the rest of the play it is shown that he has no
fear when it comes to death. In fact, when his ineluctable end comes during his epic grapple for
power with Macduff, he keeps battling, even though he knows he will meet his demise. This is a
contrast between the speaker in Sonnet 73 ; this man is perturbed by death, yet he knows the
certainty of it, like Macbeth. By portraying the fears and anxieties of the speaker as he faces his
decline, Shakespeare explores the idea that death will come inevitably, bringing with it sorrow about
what has been taken. He then lessens the harshness of this deterioration... Show more content on

After the speaker finishes his point about night consuming the sunset, he states, In me thou see
st the glowing of such fire/ That on the ashes of his youth doth lie (9 10). The fire is a metaphor
for his life, as throughout history flames have been a symbol of life, sustaining people since the
dawn of man. The ashes of his youth are past years, we cremate the dead and turn them into
ashes, and his youth is now the same, gone and past. The fire is [c]onsumed with that which it
was nourish d by (12). The fire will be engulfed in the ashes, like the speaker, who is entangled in
the final thoughts of his youth before death. The speaker has also transitioned from yellow leaves,
which come in autumn, to the sunset that fades in the west, to the glowing of such fire. This
reveals the expeditious shortening of time, and the speaker s realization that death will come more
quickly than he thought. He uses a sequence, beginning in autumn, which takes months to
conclude, a sunset, which happens at the end of a day, to a fire, which takes mere hours to die.
The succession of months, days, and hours transmits the idea of the rapid diminishment of time,
and how life passes by in the blink of an eye. This shows that before our demise, it is facile to get
caught up in the memories and rues of our youth, but

How Wozniak Changed My Life

Primary And Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency
Adrenal Insufficiency This paper describes the differences between primary and secondary adrenal
insufficiency. As health care providers it is important to be able to distinguish between the two and
to know how to treat the patient. It is also imperative that an acute adrenal crisis can be recognized.
This paper will discuss how to recognize and treat adrenal insufficiency.
Primary adrenal insufficiency Primary adrenal insufficiency occurs when the adrenal glands fail to
release glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, despite the release of adrenocorticotrophic
hormone (ACTH) from the pituitary, and may be fatal if untreated (Griffing, 2015). Margulies

the appropriate tests. The following tests are appropriate to order to diagnose adrenal insufficiency:
Serum chemistry, abnormalities are present in as many as 56% of patients. Hyponatremia is
common although not diagnostic; hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, and hypoglycemia also may
be present. However, the absence of laboratory abnormalities does not exclude the diagnosis of
adrenal crisis. Serum cortisol, less than 20 mcg/dL in severe stress or after ACTH stimulation is
indicative of adrenal insufficiency. ACTH test which is diagnostic, determine baseline serum
cortisol, then administer ACTH 250 mcg intravenous push (IVP), and then draw serum cortisol 30

Does coconut oil really help autism? Many people are now using coconut oil to help improve and
sometimes even eliminate the symptoms of autism. Learn how now!
Does Coconut Oil Help Autism?
If you or someone you love has autism, you know how frustrating it can be. You sometimes feel as
if you are at the end of your rope and that nothing can be done other than leave that person or child
on pharmaceutical medications that have some devastating side effects. Until now.
Coconut oil is successfully being used to strengthen the immune system, prevent illnesses and
improve a person s general overall health. But how can that help autism? Coconut oil is comprised
of medium chain fatty acids and these fatty acids have powerful antimicrobial properties that have
been proven to kill harmful bacteria, fungal infections, viruses and yeast overgrowths that allow

Ketones and glucose are what feed the brain and keep it healthy and functioning properly. Ketones
supply the brain with energy and when that happens it triggers the activation of proteins called
brain derived neurotrophic factors (BDNFs). These BDNFs are what the brain uses for cell
maintenance, brain repair and brain function.
If the ketone levels in the body are raised to a high enough level, they can heal, repair and reduce
micoglia over activation, help eliminate oxidative stress and calm chronic inflammation while
stimulating the growth of healthy new brain cells. And this results in normal brain function.
So how exactly does this work? Well, excessive Glutamate in the brain is what contributes to
decreasing ketones and as mentioned above ketones are what supply the brain with energy. Too
much Glutamate in the brain can be toxic. Therefore, using coconut oil to neutralize Glutamate is a
great way to create a therapeutic ketosis in the

Astrology Signs
The astrology signs go in this order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio,
Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. You ve probably heard about fire signs, earth signs, air
signs, and water signs. These are the four elements. Twelve signs divided by four elements equals
3 signs per element. If you start with Aries as the first fire sign, then just skip to every 4th sign,
you ll see that the fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagitarrius. Taurus is the first earth sign, then Virgo
and Capricorn. Gemini is the first air sign, then Libra and Aquarius. Cancer is the first water sign,
then Scorpio and Pisces.
So what does a fire sign mean? These signs tend to burn hard and fast. They start strong and then
can flame out just as quickly as they began. Do you know a person with a Aries, Leo or Sagittarius
Sun? Then you may notice that these people are a little more intensely emotional, whether that be
in happiness or anger. They may likely be more honest. And they may likely be more likely to take
action quickly and with no holds barred. These are generalities, of course. Other planets in a person
s birth chart can intensify or mute this fire Sun sign as well. ... Show more content on

Earth is much more slow and grounded. Much more practical and even tempered. Less likely to

would see a better blending of emotion and action. If this same Sun in Taurus person also had a

Real Estate Debate
Probate real estate investing refers to purchasing property from estates held in probate. When a
person dies all of their assets, including real estate, are transferred to probate. Depending on the
complexities and circumstances, probate can last between six months to three years. If the decedent
has an outstanding mortgage on their real estateholdings, the estateis responsible for making
payments. Insurance, taxes and utilities must be paid through the estate, as well as property
maintenance. Probatereal estate investing provides an option to beneficiaries who are struggling to
make ends meet. This is particularly true for estates which are managed by a probate executor who
resides out of town. Property maintenance and mortgage payments... Show more content on

Many sellers/buyers that have had bad experiences with amateur real estate agents have the
conceptions that all agents are the same. I have compiled this list on the best actions you should
perform before hiring any agent. 1.Real estate agents and Realtors are not the same. Realtors are
licensed to sell properties by the national association of Realtors (NAR). Realtors also have to
sign a list of 17 articles containing the standards of practice they must follow making them
slightly more trustworthy than a real estate agent. 2. Ask people in your neighborhood for
recommendations, if you have any friends that have recently moved in a new house ask them
about their experience with their agent. Client testimonials can be one of the best ways to find
out information about your agent. You can also ask your previous real estate agents for referrals,
agents usually connect with each other which means that they know which ones are the best in
the business. 3. Take your time before you select which agent you want to hire, choosing your
agent s in a haste can be a big mistake. Many people make the mistake that when they are looking
for fast sale they hire the first real estate agent they can find thinking it would save them some
time, this conceptions is very wrong as many real estate agents take months to sell a property. 5.

The Effectiveness of ASPCA s Commercial Essay
In 2010 the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) came out
with a commercial that would shock the advertisement industry. The effectiveness of this
commercial is proven, simply by watching the reactions of the commercial s viewers. For those
who have never seen the video it has a very sad and morose tone to it. The commercial begins with
showing pictures and videos of sufferinganimals with the song Angel playing in the background.
While this is going on the narrator of the commercial (Sarah McLachlen) is softly talking about the
suffering and abuse that these unfortunate animals go through. Through many different rhetorical
techniques the viewers are many times brought to tears after watching this... Show more content on

While those clips are being shown, the song In the Arms of an Angel by Sarah McLachlanis being
played in the background. Slides with different statistics are being shown as well. The song In the
Arms of an Angel is the major aspect of the commercial that really sets the tone. The tone of the
song is depressing and gloomy but grabs the attention of the audience at the same time. The main
point of the commercial is to convince the audience to be an angel , by saving the abused animals
dying in the shelters. The song used is a perfect tool to convince the audience to be an angel and
help the animals. Even though the music is a large part of setting the tone, the clips and pictures
are equally as moving. Showing pictures of abused and suffering animals is a great way to get
the audience s attention and cause them to become sympathetic to the animals. Very few people
in the world are unfazed when they see a video or picture of a helpless and suffering dog or cat. I
looked at a lot of the related videos on YouTube and many of them are reaction videos. The
videos show the audience s reaction to the commercial. In more than 99 percent of the videos that
I saw the viewer is in tears at the end. If a commercial that brings the audience to tears is not a
perfect example of pathos then I don t know what is.

Andy Warhol Interpretation
The movie Superstar: The Life and Times of Andy Warhol describes his work as being focused on
sex,
drugs, and beautiful people. All these of these aspects are a part of Andy Warhol s personal life
and the
popular culture of the 1960s. Deeply rooted in the popular culture of the time were the ideas of
images,
power and politics, all of which are shown through his work.
Representation is, as described in Practices of Looking , is the use of language and images in order

Campbell s Soup Cans exemplifies the same ideas of representation. As Warhol explained, the soup
cans were a part of his previous personal life, they were something that he had for lunch every single
day as a child. The Campbell s cans relate to Magritte because both painting merely represent the
image
that is shown. Just as the pipe is not actually a pipe, the soup cans aren t actually soup cans. Both as
representations of aspects of the current culture. They create meaning, maybe evoke a memory.
One of Andy s pieces, The Nose Job illustrates the idea behind the myth of photographic truth. The
myth is the idea that while a photo is supposed to offer a truth , there are always several truths and
limitations that come with a photograph. This idea explains that the truth of a photo is actually a
myth
and not a truth at all. The artistic piece by Andy depicts two images, one with a woman whose nose

Acute Consumption Of Cannabis And Driving Performance
According to the textbook, Understanding the research game begins with an identification of the
institution supporting the research through funding and hiring researchers as well as granting
permission for the research (Wilkins, 2011). The institution preforming and supporting this
research is called BMJ. BMJ is a pair reviewed medical research journal aimed at providing first
class information concerning issues. In addition, the BMJ assists medical organizations and
clinicians in tacking today s most critical healthcare challenges. ( Our expertise | BMJ , 2016) As
stated in the textbook, The purpose of the research concerns the motivation of the researchers given
institutional parameters as well as the research topic applied . (Wilkins, 2011). That being said, the
purpose of this study is to determine whether the acute consumption of cannabis(cannabinoids) by

for this research is squared on the relationships between the acute consumption of cannabis and

Essay Dimensional Fund Advisors Case
Dimensional Fund Advisors Case 1. Describe the investment strategy employed by DFA. Does
DFA consider itself an active or passive manager? What aspects of its strategy are active? What
aspects are passive?
DFA s investment strategy was centered on academic research, specifically on the findings of Banz
size effect and Fama and French s book to market effect. In Banz research, he found that small
stocks consistently outperformed large stocks over the entire history of the stock market from 1926
through the late 1970s. See Exhibit 1 for overview of growth between large and small cap stocks.
In the Fama amp; French paper, they found that: 1) stocks with high beta did not have consistently

DFA s founders believed in two principals (outside of efficient markets): the value of sound
academic research, and the ability of skilled traders to contribute to a fund s profits even when the
investment was inherently passive. By working closely with the academic world, DFA is able to
exploit opportunities generated from academic research before others are able to; this creates
opportunities for short and long term excess return. Also, working in stocks that other mutual funds
do not participate (micro, small cap) allows DFA to exploit opportunities in otherwise illiquid
stocks. By having a large presence in this market, the company is able to take advantage of trading
opportunities with counterparts (liquidity discounts from block purchases).
5. What level of market efficiency does DFA accept? Why this level and not any other?
DFA accepts the semi strong form efficiency of the market. DFA feels that on average the market
price correctly incorporates all public information. Its concern is merely that there is no negative
private information known to the seller but not to the market. If DFA did not have concern of
negative information known by the seller and not the market, the strong form of efficiency would
be appropriate (this version of the efficient market hypothesis is quite extreme).

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) originated from an act that was first
enacted in 1975 which was later expanded to IDEA in 1990 and was amended a few times into its
current form in 2011. This legislation was designed to ensure that all children with disabilities
receive an appropriate educationthrough special educationand related services(Vaughn, 2018, p. 7).
The major provisions that should be known and followed by districts, schools, and teachers to
ensure that all students are incorporated into an appropriate setting in the schoolsystem are:

The inclusion classroom has many advantages and disadvantages for the SPED and general
education students, with many factors influencing the effectiveness of inclusion(Vaughn, 2018, p.
37) and based on my experiences the most important factor is the placement of each student to
where they can be successful without slowing down or disrupting the learning of all students.
Consequently, inclusive settings can be effective for some, although not all, students with
disabilities(Vaughn, 2018, p. 37). Observed advantages for SPED students include exposure to on
level content, higher order social interaction, observing appropriate(hopefully) classroom behavior;
and if successful with content, greater confidence and feeling of self worth. General education
students build acceptance and tolerance for others, have opportunities for peer tutoring, and have
access to additional personnel for more intensive instruction. In contrast, classrooms with placement
issues lead to many disadvantages which slows down the classroom for on level students but is still
too fast for SPED students, consequently becoming a disservice to both groups. Behavioral
problems arise due to high level student boredom and/or struggling students giving up resulting in
distractions to other students and taking away instructional time while the teacher manages the
disruptors. Due to lack of success, struggling students also experience confidence issues and a
deterioration of their mental

Copyright Framework Of The Music Industry
Copyright framework in the music industry
Intellectual property is the economic framework that underpins the British creative industry music
being one of them. Copyright is the currency of that framework. It can provide an incentive to the
market to invest in brand new creative content, since every recording by an artist can be licensed
for a specific value in the United Kingdom and globally, hence generating a substantial balance of
export income for the UK. According to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the
Creative industries are the third biggest export industry for the UK, which makes the monarchy the
largest cultural economy in the world relative to GDP.
From a legal standpoint, copyright is governed by legislation, which is extracted from the national
law, as well as from the European Union law.
Although copyright can be financially beneficial for the turf, its infringement causes damage to the
music industry. Specifically, in a continuously developing digital environment, it is easier to
acquire, create, market and sell music. However, along with these improvements, there has arisen
the opportunity to unlawfully acquire music, and thus breach the law concerned with a sector that
is committed to find solution to limit the damages caused by illegal download.
Copyright and royalty collection agencies commit its resources to detect the breaches of law, in
terms of copyright, and campaign for proportionate measures to help the rightsholders protect

Examples Of Government Intervention
In today s world, government intervention still divides the nation. We mainly witness this division
during politics, with democrats and republicans. Government intervention increased immensely
after the Great Depression. This is because of the fact that before the Great Depression, investors
were freely using their money buying and spending, without any regulations, leading to the stock
market crash. During the recession process, in order to land the economy back to a stable path,
presidents and other officials intervened to speed the process up. While some people believe that
government intervention should not be allowed, others believe that government intervention is
beneficial to the nation because it is able to put regulations among those who affect the economy.
Government interventions have allowed many helpful programs for Americans such as welfare,
trade programs, and tariff limitations. It also has placed a fairness on the economy, allowing an
equivalence of prices for the products that we buy and use on a daily basis. Some different types of
government intervention include subsidies, tax breaks, and inflation. During 1990 2002,
government intervention became a giant part of the marketplace in the United States. An example
of this is during Bill Clintons short term presidency. Clinton enacted plans that helped increase the
economy s growth. Another example of this is during George W. BushJr s presidency term. His main
goal of helping the economy as well as the

Why Is Hockey Important To Canadian Identity
Why is it that when I picture Canada I am able to see snow falling, the night setting, with

is it that makes hockey so profoundly important to Canadian identity, and a representative of our
country? To start off, all across the country, on frozen backyard ponds, community rinks and state
of the art arenas Canadians are playing hockey which is Canadas national sport. I believe that

In the Guest by Albert Camus, he shows the conflict of interests between the characters and how it
plays a major role in the outcome of the story. The story starts off with Daru, a school teacher and

with this task, Daru decides to give the Arab a choice to either go to the next town in the east on his

underlying theme with their personalities and their conflicts throughout the story.

ВЁThe biggest increase in dog bites came from dogs that were owned but not on a

you have a dog that could potentially be dangerous while taking it on a walk do not to take the

Using material from Item A and elsewhere, assess the claim that gender differences in educational
achievement are primarily the result of changes in society
Some sociologists claim that gender differences in achievement are the result of external factors
such as changes in wider society, e.g. The impact of feminist ideas and changing employment
opportunities (as stated in Item A). However, this could also be an outcome of internal factors such
as the education system becoming feminised , which could have impacted the performance of girls
achievement, as it has risen at a faster rate at some levels and in some subjects. Some sociologists
also argue that the media have exaggerated the extent and nature of any problem.
External ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These changes are affecting girls attitudes towards education in a number of ways as increased
numbers of female headed lone parent families may mean more women need to take on the major
bread winner role. This further creates a new financially independent, career minded role model for
girls. The need for good qualifications is made very clear and the girls aspirations tend to require
academic effort. Becky Francis points out that boys are more likely to have career aspirations that
are not only unrealistic but often require few formal qualifications, e.g. professional footballer.
Evidence suggests that girls are more likely to spend their leisure time in ways which
compliment their education and contribute to educational achievements. Mitsos and Browne
place considerable emphasis on reading. Women are more likely to read than men, and mothers
are more likely than fathers to read to their children. Therefore girls are more likely to have same
sex role models to encourage them to read. Poor language and literacy skills are likely to affect
boys performance across a wide range of subjects.
Whilst there are factors outside school, internal factors also impact gender differences in
educational achievements hugely. According to Tony Sewell, boys fall behind in education because
schools have become more feminised , as indicated in Item A. This means that feminine traits such
as methodical working and attentiveness have

Essay on Society and Technological Change
1.From the Writing sections of this module: The first writing, Cuneiform, developed in
Mesopotamian cities around 3000BC. What big problem was writing created to solve?
Writing really emerged separately in three regions independently of one another. Those regions are
Central and South America, Mesopotamia, and Asia. It is generally accepted that writing
(Cuneiform) came about in Mesopotamia as a means of documenting transactions and keeping
track of merchandises. Let s say, one mark on a clay tablet intended to be one unit of something
(bushel of grains, livestock, etc.), two marks intended to be two unit, and so on. From there
individuals understood that if you could represent numbers in writing, then you could as well

The printing press was invented in Germany by a metal smith and printer named Johannes
Gutenberg. Despite the fact that it might have taken a year to hand duplicate a book, with the
Gutenberg printing press it was probable to generate numerous duplicates a year. The discovery and
creation of printing books with movable marks a paradigm shift in the way information was
transferred in Europe. The influence of printing is equivalent to the development of writing, and the
invention of the alphabet, to the extent that its outcomes on society. Overall, the knowledge came
more rapidly to the hands of the people, in the meantime, printed books can be marketed for a
fraction of the price of illuminated manuscripts.
I believe that the printing press was very important. It was an essential requirement for
Protestantism. However, the advantage of printed books for Protestantism did stop at making
Bible accessible at any public congregation. Meanwhile books became obtainable for some village
population, they could be used to teach peasants and commoners to read and to write on a massive
scale. Such fact that Christians had finally started to read their Bible had helped the Catholic
Church as well, by compelling the Catholic Church to mend your ways and to aggressively pursue
and remove deviations from the scriptures, which the Church endured in

Blaming External Pressure for the Tragic Decline of Tess...
Blaming External Pressure for the Tragic Decline of Tess in Tess of the D Urbervilles From the
beginning of the novel Tess of the d Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, it is clear that the main
character, Tess, is not going to have an easy life. She is deliberately targeted by cruel Immortals
as their sadistic plaything. This is symbolized during the club dance, where Tess is one of the
white company but is the only one to have a bright red ribbon in her hair. The mark of blood is
on her from the start. Whilst Tess is going to market she accidentally kills the family s horse. Her
own guilt for this accidental death is the first stage in a long series of incidents leading to Tess s
tragic death at the end of the novel.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tess at this stage was a mere of vessel of emotion untinctured by experience and she did not
know how evil men could sometimes be. She was almost like an attractive piece of bait, used to
lure a wealthy young to marry into the Durbeyfield Family and restore them to their previous
aristocratic status. Joan Durbeyfield did not care about her daughter s morals she felt that if d
Urberville didn t marry her afore, he would after . Tess is seduced by Alec and taken advantage
of, and as a result she is seen as a social outcast. At the time of her seduction or rape, Tess had
been rescued from the aggressive Car D arch and was emotionally and physically tired after the
persistent chase by Alec. The sad result that she became pregnant as a consequence of this sexual
liaison with d Urberville is a further suggestion that her cruel fate is all planned in advance by
merciless gods. The institutionalised Christianity during the reign of Queen Victoria, meant that
Tess was seen as an outcast. She had given birth to a bastard child an the rigid social attitudes of
Victorian society meant she was frowned upon even though she took good care of the child and
clearly loved it intensely. Tess then commits a blasphemous act when she baptises the infant and
names it sorrow. It seems that the cruel and inflexible religious laws of the time would not

Aluminum Foils
Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had
failed . To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was
Tyler s design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used
to wrap the cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the
group weighed this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the
requirement is 26.5 grams). Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the
weight and allowed the boat to meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts
of water leaked in while tested, this made the group reconsider using this design in the final
presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen created a design that had one pop can and aluminum
foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen tested this at home, it did not work. During this time,
Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans,
Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a
pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will be overweight, Claire cut both tops off....

Starting off with Tyler s design, the surface areaof this boat is bigger, this allows the pressure from
the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous
design is that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward
angle. Lastly, there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its
insides but a disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the
group should test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the
designs on each

Nazi Medical Experiments Essay
World War 2 was a tragic event the shook the whole world. Countries across the globe joined
forced to clash with one another, throwing away the lives of many young men. In that event, the
Nazi party rounded up Jews, Gypsies, and anyone that they deemed a disease to Germany and the
perfect Aryan race, were taken to concentration camps
The question now is, What were the Nazi Medical Experiments that were being conducted during
the war? What did they do, and what were the purpose of these experiment?
The medical experiments the Nazis conducted were on the human prisoners that they got ahold of
during the war. The subjects of these experiments were primarily those who the Germans deemed
as useless, or were fighting against in the war, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this interview Jona recalls her time in the laboratory, witnessing the testing on many of her
fellow people, and believed that the experiments were an attempt to alter the human body. This
can also be backed up from the paper published on the government website, One of the key
reasons the Nazis conducted medical experiments was to further progress their dream of a master
Aryan race, and to weaken the Jewish race as a result....The Nazis also had a clear vision of what
their master race would look like and do for Germany. 12 Hitler envisioned that the perfect Aryan
for his ideal race had blue eyes, blonde hair, and was tall. (2,3) Reading the first hand account,
and the paper we can deduce that the Nazis were injecting prisoners with drugs and chemicals in
an attempt to alter the human body; such as changing the eye colors of someone, or hair color.
This shows that the Nazi medical experiments were more than just a way to help Germany s
medical advancement and aid their soldiers, this was a way to create the superior Aryan race. They
attempted this through the process of experimenting on prisoners and test

Carrers In EAC Assignment 8 Essay
Stephany Armstrong AC1406981 E01 Careers In Early Childhood Education Assignment 8_08
01 08 2015 Scenario 1: Part AFredrick Frobel believed that children learn when they are lively
and free. He also believed that children s education should be based on their interests and their
active involvement. An activity using Frobel s parquet gifts for 3 5 year olds would need to be
simple enough that they would be able to manipulate the pieces involved and complex enough to
challenge their minds. To start our activity I would take thin pieces of wood about 10x10 inches. I
would outline a very simple drawing of different animals on the pieces of wood. The children can
use the parquet shapes to fill the animal in, or to trace the outline of the... Show more content on

Scenario 3: Letter Formation Drills Letters don t have to be precise and artistic; they should be
fairly constant and readable. They should not float like a balloon or sink below the line and
should be formed from the top and not the bottom. Practice forming letters with letter formation
drills promotes reading and writing for all children. Children with a visual impairment may have
the materials modified. Use brightly colored pens with a black contrasting paper. Enlarge all
workbook pages and lined paper, double lines work well for children with visual impairment. For
children with epilepsy traditional approaches need to be modified. Some student struggle with
motor skills as a result of their epilepsy and they are especially vulnerable to inattention and work
incompletion. Further breaking down the letters into simpler steps has been proven to promote
writing skills in a child with epilepsy. A few easy steps can be taken to ensure the classroom is
suitable for hearing impaired students. When possible, turn off equipment that creates background
noises, such as fans and projectors, when not in use. Eliminating extra noise helps students with
hearing impairments focus on the class lecture and assignments. Remember that hearing aids
amplify every sound, including tapping pencils and air conditioners. Area rugs and heavy curtains
can also eliminate a great deal of extraneous noise. Stephany Armstrong AC1406981 E01 Careers In

  • 2. Philippine Government What are the contributions of the previous government to the present system of government? Looking back to the previous government systems in different periods in Philippine history, we can see that our present government system is somehow shaped and patterned from the previous systems that prevailed in our country. Pre historically we have seen how they established their government and basically, we can say that it is far more primitive than the present system that we have. However, the basic principles like the consultation of the datus to the elders can somehow be seen in the present by the presence of political advisers where our president consults aside from the members of the senate and the congress. The barangay system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1972, President Ferdinand E. Marcos (1965 86) declared martial law, citing growing lawlessness and open rebellion by the communist rebels as his justification. Marcos governed from 1973 until mid 1981 in accordance with the transitory provisions of a new constitution that replaced the commonwealth constitution of 1935. He suppressed democratic institutions and restricted civil liberties during the martial law period, ruling largely by decree and popular referenda. The government began a process of political normalization during 1978 81, culminating in the reelection of President Marcos to a 6 year term that would have ended in 1987. The Marcos government s respect for human rights remained low despite the end of martial law on January 17, 1981. His government retained its wide arrest and detention powers. Corruption and favoritism contributed to a serious decline in economic growth and development under Marcos. The assassination of opposition leader Benigno (Ninoy) Aquino upon his return to the Philippines in 1983, after a long period of exile, coalesced popular dissatisfaction with Marcos and set in motion a succession of events that culminated in a snap presidential election in February 1986. The opposition united under Aquino s widow, Corazon Aquino, and Salvador Laurel, head of the United Nationalist Democratic Organization (UNIDO). The election was marred by widespread electoral fraud on the part of Marcos and his supporters. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The switch from dual federalism in which the national government and the states have their own distinct powers and responsibilities to cooperative federalism in which the national government and the states share power and responsibilities amongst each other, have taken play during the Great Depressions in the United States. The Constitution defines the roles that the national government and the states have, but interpretations of the responsibilities and relationships between them have changed over time. In addition, the Tenth Amendment stated the limited powers of the federal government and whatever power not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of the legalization of medical marijuana in certain states, the Obama Administration favored the states in which if an individual follows the state laws, the individual will not be prosecuted. This violated the Supremacy clause that puts the federal government as the supreme and dominates over the state laws since the use of medical marijuana was legalized in 18 states and the District of Columbia even though the federal law states that marijuana is an illegal drug. Another example of the supremacy clause based on the idea of implied preemption is the Wyeth verse Levine (2009) case. Diane Levine suffered a migraine headache and was treated with Phenergan. A physician s assistant of Wyeth pharmaceutical company administered the drug through an IV push, which was not stated as danger on the label. The injection of the drug hit the artery instead of the intended vein, which caused Levine to amputate most of her arm. This caused for Levine to sue Wyeth in Vermont Superior Court since she felt that it was their responsibility due to their negligence and unawareness of informing the patient. On the other hand, Wyeth believes that since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the label and the IV push method was not declared as forbidden, then they should not be liable for the damages caused. The Vermont Superior Court ruled in favor of Levine since Wyeth could have added more warnings to the label ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been available to industrial manufactures for the last few year but now as technology is advancing at its usual frightening pace the first home consumer printers are becoming available and like the original printers they are rapidly moving on from their slow, expensive and cumbersome beginnings . The Makerbot replicator 2 is an example of a 3d printer available to the consumer retailing for approx $2000. 3d printingrelies on additive manufacturingwhich allows objects to be built layer by layer only using the exact amount of material needed reducing waste and of course allowing for more complicated designs to be printed in full form. Amazon has proven itself to be at the forefront of adapting to technology changes with the kindle book store offering a platform for downloading digital books and this meant book piracy never reached the rampant levels of music piracy. As Amazon has an extraordinary large consumer base it is in a unique position to offset potential physical 3d piracy by offering a platform for customers to download 3d print files and products. It is important for the company to be quick and decisive in changing its business model to adapt to this technology as like the music industry proved, if ignored too long consumers will be ready, willing and capable of pirating physical products. Only this time it is not only one music industry that is affected but dozens of physical and manufacturing industries such as toys, accessories, jewellery , furniture and many more. If this were to happen Amazon would lose out massively as a reseller of these products along with the manufactures themselves . • 6. Analysis Of The Article Let s Make A Slave After reading the assigned literature, I have now cast a light on several issues that are currently causing problems today. The article titled, Let s Make A Slave, was depressing because it almost forced one to go back in time and feel the plight of Africans Americans before slavery was outlawed. William Lynch traveled a great ways to inform the people of the Virginia Colony about slaveryand how it should truly be done. As I was reading, it seemed as though William Lynch was reading the instructions for a product (and not a human being) but he actually was talking about people (African Americans). The speech that he prepared was delivered was so much conviction that it made it very hard to believe that African Americans could have been treated any other way. The Europeans (during slavery) did not respect Black peopleand regarded to them as uncivilized niggers (The Black Arcade Liberation Library, 1970,p2) and sought nothing more than to treat them like the money making machines they were. During the speech, William Lynch was talking about several topics that are still lingering today (certain aspects have been passed down from generation to generation). For instance, African Americanmales were used to breed and once that job was done they were immediately separated from their family (leaving the mother to raise the negro child). The slave owners sought to pin the dark skinned Blacks against the light skinned Blacks and this was to ensure that there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Hillary Clinton Speech Analysis At the fourth U.N. conference, Hillary Clinton gave a powerful speech about women s rights. Hillary Clinton emphasizes that although women have been given more freedom and rights as the years went by, it still isn t enough. In her speech, Clinton goes on to say that if women are free from violence, their families will flourish. If women have a chance to work and earn as full and equal partners in society, their families will flourish. And when families flourish, their communities and nations do as well . Hillary Clinton used appeals to emotions, logic, and ethics to convey to the audience that women s rights should be normalized and embraced around the world. Hillary Rodham Clinton has many titles under her belt such as politician , first lady , senator etc. but no title gives her a bigger sense of pride than being a woman . She believes to be a woman is to be strength, power, and grace which she exudes with every step she takes. Growing up, Clinton always dreamed of being a significant figure in the progression of women s rights. Some of the prominent steps that Clinton took to pave the way for women and children include: becoming an advocate for kids and families at the Children s Defense Fund, fighting for the Family and Medical Leave Act, working to increase funding for childcare, and helping to start the National Campaign to End Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. • 8. Summary Of Fantasyland, How America Went Haywire Author Kurt Anderson mostly blames a certain group of people in his book Fantasyland, How America went Haywire. In a nutshell, Protestants are the problem. Anderson spends chapter after chapter, starting with Martin Luther and continuing through American history of how Protestant beliefs have been detrimental to America. In his view which comes across as snide and derisive, they are the bane of American existence because they believe in magic and supernaturalthings and have left most of reason behind. Anderson practically sneers (many words are in italics for emphasis) when he writes of Protestants. Certainly, some Protestants may be gun nuts, and preppers but not all. Most of my Protestant friends don t own a gun and they send their children to public school. (Anderson is not a fan of homeschooling or private religious education). I found Anderson to be one of those people who believes his way is the only way to live. He chronicles that taking illegal drugs taught him character. This is a rather strange way to build character, hard work and helping others is what I was taught by my baby boomer Protestant parents. He lives in Brooklyn, I believe, and feels that the American s dream of a pastoral setting (the suburbs ) has ruined the entire country. This is a great big land and not everyone wants to or needs to live on top of each other in a city. Yes, Americans have many cars, but my husband and I take public transportation to the city from our suburban home. The author ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Procrastinator And Slacker Analysis All people spend at least a little time in the four of quadrants: procrastinator, prioritizer, yes man, and slacker. The quadrants represent your habits on importance and urgency in relation to your priorities. Although I spend most of my time as a prioritizer, I can remove the yes man from my life by being a better prioritizer and learning how to say no to people. The first and fourth quadrants, procrastinator and slacker, are the two worst quadrants to be in. Both leave you with low quality performance, stress, guilt, and a lot of wasted time. Procrastinators and slackers do not plan anything out, nor do they worry about the quality of their work, only that it eventually gets done, sometime in the future. This structure is a weighty component in completing how mental processes work together in the achievement of a task (Dowsett Livesey, 2000). Older research has suggested that the development of inhibitory control in homo sapiens was a major factor in the evolution of intelligence (Stenhouse, 1974). Later research further supports this claim by suggesting that Inhibitory control is important in intelligence (Kochanska, Murray, Jacques, Koenig, Vandegeest, 1996). • 11. Linda Thomas Brush Fire Those who have lived through natural disasters view them differently than those who have not. Experience helps us understand circumstances in a new way. In the essays Brush Fire by Linda Thomas, and The Santa Ana by Joan Didion, the authors perceive the mysterious Santa Ana winds that blow through California, and the deadly brush fires that it creates. Through the use of imagery, word choice, tone, and description the authors depict the beauty and destruction that they see from the point of view of a native or an outsider. Thomas, a California native, describes the Santa Ana brush fires in a more excited and astonished tone. Since she is a native, she decides not to display her experiences to the reader in a factual way. Instead, she writes more informally, and uses techniques such as word choice and imagery to display the beauty that she sees. The condition is perfect for fire that can rush up a canyon like a locomotive, roaring and exploding brush as it rages. While describing a particularly hot and dry spring, Thomas uses both imagery and simile to depict the fiery winds as a train rushing over the brush. She does not only make this comparison for dramatic effect to entice the reader, but she also does it because she sees the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 14. Edward Luttwak s Analysis On Military Force, Military... Edward Luttwak s analysis of Roman strategy evaluates the link between military force, military power, policy, and deterrence. Luttwak describes force as the actual application of a state s military capability while power is derived from the state s perceived ability to impose force. The Romans employed a combination of force and power to achieve their policy aims regarding security. Deterrence provides security by relying on power and the threat of force to prevent an adversary from committing an unwanted act. Today, United States policy leverages the nation s perceived power, bolstered by its potential to employ force, in order to deter aggression by potential adversaries and enhance security. To begin, it is important to explore Luttwak s definitions of force and power. He describes the use of militaryforce as a finite ability to directly apply military means in order to force an adversary s compliance. A state s ability to use force is thus limited by the size of its military capabilityand its ability to concentrate that capability against an enemy. More importantly, once military forces are committed to an action they are no longer available to pursue other objectives and are essentially consumed. The implication is that reliance on military force limits a state s ability to achieve its objectives to the amount of force it can employ at a given time and place. Examples of the finite nature of military force are numerous. Luttwak points to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Role Of Director Of The New Zealand Aid Programme Essay I write to you in the hopes you will consider my application for the role of the Director of the New Zealand Aid Programme (NZAP). Studying the inconsistent implementation of past aid policies, I will use the Pacific to outline my vision for the direction of future aid administration. Guided by the principle purpose of New Zealand s first independent aid organisation, NZAID, and in keeping with international aid trends, my vision for NZAP would work towards one clear goal: the elimination of poverty. New Zealand aid policies have been reorganised over the past few decades, influenced by both international practices and domestic politics. Effected in the years following World War II as many Pacific nations gained independence, early aid approaches aligned with global development policies and bilateral structures proposed by the Colombo Plan (Banks et al., 2012). New Zealand aid provision increased through the 1970s, before dropping rapidly between the 1980s and 1990s with the adoption of neoliberal policies, deviating to focus on the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the 2000s (Banks et al., 2012). Helen Clark s reigning Labour Government, established NZAID in 2002, adopting policies which sought to rectify the damage wrought during the lost decade when National s neoliberal policies saw the introduction of Structural Adjustment Policies (SAPs) and drastic reduction of New Zealand s Official Development Assistance (ODA) (Banks et al., 2012; ... Macbeth acknowledges his aging, but in the rest of the play it is shown that he has no fear when it comes to death. In fact, when his ineluctable end comes during his epic grapple for power with Macduff, he keeps battling, even though he knows he will meet his demise. This is a contrast between the speaker in Sonnet 73 ; this man is perturbed by death, yet he knows the certainty of it, like Macbeth. By portraying the fears and anxieties of the speaker as he faces his decline, Shakespeare explores the idea that death will come inevitably, bringing with it sorrow about what has been taken. He then lessens the harshness of this deterioration... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the speaker finishes his point about night consuming the sunset, he states, In me thou see st the glowing of such fire/ That on the ashes of his youth doth lie (9 10). The fire is a metaphor for his life, as throughout history flames have been a symbol of life, sustaining people since the dawn of man. The ashes of his youth are past years, we cremate the dead and turn them into ashes, and his youth is now the same, gone and past. The fire is [c]onsumed with that which it was nourish d by (12). The fire will be engulfed in the ashes, like the speaker, who is entangled in the final thoughts of his youth before death. The speaker has also transitioned from yellow leaves, which come in autumn, to the sunset that fades in the west, to the glowing of such fire. This reveals the expeditious shortening of time, and the speaker s realization that death will come more quickly than he thought. He uses a sequence, beginning in autumn, which takes months to conclude, a sunset, which happens at the end of a day, to a fire, which takes mere hours to die. The succession of months, days, and hours transmits the idea of the rapid diminishment of time, and how life passes by in the blink of an eye. As health care providers it is important to be able to distinguish between the two and to know how to treat the patient. It is also imperative that an acute adrenal crisis can be recognized. Primary adrenal insufficiency Primary adrenal insufficiency occurs when the adrenal glands fail to release glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, despite the release of adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) from the pituitary, and may be fatal if untreated (Griffing, 2015). Ketones supply the brain with energy and when that happens it triggers the activation of proteins called brain derived neurotrophic factors (BDNFs). These BDNFs are what the brain uses for cell maintenance, brain repair and brain function. If the ketone levels in the body are raised to a high enough level, they can heal, repair and reduce micoglia over activation, help eliminate oxidative stress and calm chronic inflammation while stimulating the growth of healthy new brain cells. And this results in normal brain function. So how exactly does this work? Well, excessive Glutamate in the brain is what contributes to decreasing ketones and as mentioned above ketones are what supply the brain with energy. Too much Glutamate in the brain can be toxic. DFA s founders believed in two principals (outside of efficient markets): the value of sound academic research, and the ability of skilled traders to contribute to a fund s profits even when the investment was inherently passive. By working closely with the academic world, DFA is able to exploit opportunities generated from academic research before others are able to; this creates opportunities for short and long term excess return. Also, working in stocks that other mutual funds do not participate (micro, small cap) allows DFA to exploit opportunities in otherwise illiquid stocks. By having a large presence in this market, the company is able to take advantage of trading opportunities with counterparts (liquidity discounts from block purchases). 5. • 34. Examples Of Government Intervention In today s world, government intervention still divides the nation. We mainly witness this division during politics, with democrats and republicans. Government intervention increased immensely after the Great Depression. This is because of the fact that before the Great Depression, investors were freely using their money buying and spending, without any regulations, leading to the stock market crash. During the recession process, in order to land the economy back to a stable path, presidents and other officials intervened to speed the process up. While some people believe that government intervention should not be allowed, others believe that government intervention is beneficial to the nation because it is able to put regulations among those who affect the economy. Government interventions have allowed many helpful programs for Americans such as welfare, trade programs, and tariff limitations. It also has placed a fairness on the economy, allowing an equivalence of prices for the products that we buy and use on a daily basis. Some different types of government intervention include subsidies, tax breaks, and inflation. During 1990 2002, government intervention became a giant part of the marketplace in the United States. • 39. Using Material from Item a and Elsewhere, Assess the Claim... Using material from Item A and elsewhere, assess the claim that gender differences in educational achievement are primarily the result of changes in society Some sociologists claim that gender differences in achievement are the result of external factors such as changes in wider society, e.g. The impact of feminist ideas and changing employment opportunities (as stated in Item A). However, this could also be an outcome of internal factors such as the education system becoming feminised , which could have impacted the performance of girls achievement, as it has risen at a faster rate at some levels and in some subjects. Some sociologists also argue that the media have exaggerated the extent and nature of any problem. External ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These changes are affecting girls attitudes towards education in a number of ways as increased numbers of female headed lone parent families may mean more women need to take on the major bread winner role. This further creates a new financially independent, career minded role model for girls. The need for good qualifications is made very clear and the girls aspirations tend to require academic effort. Becky Francis points out that boys are more likely to have career aspirations that are not only unrealistic but often require few formal qualifications, e.g. professional footballer. Evidence suggests that girls are more likely to spend their leisure time in ways which compliment their education and contribute to educational achievements. Mitsos and Browne place considerable emphasis on reading. Women are more likely to read than men, and mothers are more likely than fathers to read to their children. Therefore girls are more likely to have same sex role models to encourage them to read. Poor language and literacy skills are likely to affect boys performance across a wide range of subjects. Whilst there are factors outside school, internal factors also impact gender differences in educational achievements hugely. According to Tony Sewell, boys fall behind in education because schools have become more feminised , as indicated in Item A. This means that feminine traits such as methodical working and attentiveness have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Essay on Society and Technological Change 1.From the Writing sections of this module: The first writing, Cuneiform, developed in Mesopotamian cities around 3000BC. What big problem was writing created to solve? Writing really emerged separately in three regions independently of one another. Those regions are Central and South America, Mesopotamia, and Asia. It is generally accepted that writing (Cuneiform) came about in Mesopotamia as a means of documenting transactions and keeping track of merchandises. Let s say, one mark on a clay tablet intended to be one unit of something (bushel of grains, livestock, etc.), two marks intended to be two unit, and so on. From there individuals understood that if you could represent numbers in writing, then you could as well characterize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The printing press was invented in Germany by a metal smith and printer named Johannes Gutenberg. Despite the fact that it might have taken a year to hand duplicate a book, with the Gutenberg printing press it was probable to generate numerous duplicates a year. The discovery and creation of printing books with movable marks a paradigm shift in the way information was transferred in Europe. The influence of printing is equivalent to the development of writing, and the invention of the alphabet, to the extent that its outcomes on society. Overall, the knowledge came more rapidly to the hands of the people, in the meantime, printed books can be marketed for a fraction of the price of illuminated manuscripts. I believe that the printing press was very important. It was an essential requirement for Protestantism. However, the advantage of printed books for Protestantism did stop at making Bible accessible at any public congregation. Meanwhile books became obtainable for some village population, they could be used to teach peasants and commoners to read and to write on a massive scale. Such fact that Christians had finally started to read their Bible had helped the Catholic Church as well, by compelling the Catholic Church to mend your ways and to aggressively pursue and remove deviations from the scriptures, which the Church endured in ... • 41. Blaming External Pressure for the Tragic Decline of Tess... Blaming External Pressure for the Tragic Decline of Tess in Tess of the D Urbervilles From the beginning of the novel Tess of the d Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, it is clear that the main character, Tess, is not going to have an easy life. She is deliberately targeted by cruel Immortals as their sadistic plaything. This is symbolized during the club dance, where Tess is one of the white company but is the only one to have a bright red ribbon in her hair. The mark of blood is on her from the start. Whilst Tess is going to market she accidentally kills the family s horse. Her own guilt for this accidental death is the first stage in a long series of incidents leading to Tess s tragic death at the end of the novel.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tess at this stage was a mere of vessel of emotion untinctured by experience and she did not know how evil men could sometimes be. She was almost like an attractive piece of bait, used to lure a wealthy young to marry into the Durbeyfield Family and restore them to their previous aristocratic status. Joan Durbeyfield did not care about her daughter s morals she felt that if d Urberville didn t marry her afore, he would after . Tess is seduced by Alec and taken advantage of, and as a result she is seen as a social outcast. At the time of her seduction or rape, Tess had been rescued from the aggressive Car D arch and was emotionally and physically tired after the persistent chase by Alec. The sad result that she became pregnant as a consequence of this sexual liaison with d Urberville is a further suggestion that her cruel fate is all planned in advance by merciless gods. The institutionalised Christianity during the reign of Queen Victoria, meant that Tess was seen as an outcast. She had given birth to a bastard child an the rigid social attitudes of Victorian society meant she was frowned upon even though she took good care of the child and clearly loved it intensely. Tess then commits a blasphemous act when she baptises the infant and names it sorrow. It seems that the cruel and inflexible religious laws of the time would not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Aluminum Foils Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had failed . To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was Tyler s design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used to wrap the cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the group weighed this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the requirement is 26.5 grams). Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the weight and allowed the boat to meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts of water leaked in while tested, this made the group reconsider using this design in the final presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen created a design that had one pop can and aluminum foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen tested this at home, it did not work. During this time, Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans, Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will be overweight, Claire cut both tops off.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting off with Tyler s design, the surface areaof this boat is bigger, this allows the pressure from the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous design is that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward angle. Lastly, there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its insides but a disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the group should test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the designs on each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Nazi Medical Experiments Essay World War 2 was a tragic event the shook the whole world. Countries across the globe joined forced to clash with one another, throwing away the lives of many young men. In that event, the Nazi party rounded up Jews, Gypsies, and anyone that they deemed a disease to Germany and the perfect Aryan race, were taken to concentration camps The question now is, What were the Nazi Medical Experiments that were being conducted during the war? What did they do, and what were the purpose of these experiment? The medical experiments the Nazis conducted were on the human prisoners that they got ahold of during the war. The subjects of these experiments were primarily those who the Germans deemed as useless, or were fighting against in the war, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this interview Jona recalls her time in the laboratory, witnessing the testing on many of her fellow people, and believed that the experiments were an attempt to alter the human body. This can also be backed up from the paper published on the government website, One of the key reasons the Nazis conducted medical experiments was to further progress their dream of a master Aryan race, and to weaken the Jewish race as a result....The Nazis also had a clear vision of what their master race would look like and do for Germany. 12 Hitler envisioned that the perfect Aryan for his ideal race had blue eyes, blonde hair, and was tall. (2,3) Reading the first hand account, and the paper we can deduce that the Nazis were injecting prisoners with drugs and chemicals in an attempt to alter the human body; such as changing the eye colors of someone, or hair color. This shows that the Nazi medical experiments were more than just a way to help Germany s medical advancement and aid their soldiers, this was a way to create the superior Aryan race. They attempted this through the process of experimenting on prisoners and test ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carrers In EAC Assignment 8 Essay Stephany Armstrong AC1406981 E01 Careers In Early Childhood Education Assignment 8_08 01 08 2015 Scenario 1: Part AFredrick Frobel believed that children learn when they are lively and free. He also believed that children s education should be based on their interests and their active involvement. An activity using Frobel s parquet gifts for 3 5 year olds would need to be simple enough that they would be able to manipulate the pieces involved and complex enough to challenge their minds. To start our activity I would take thin pieces of wood about 10x10 inches. I would outline a very simple drawing of different animals on the pieces of wood. The children can use the parquet shapes to fill the animal in, or to trace the outline of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scenario 3: Letter Formation Drills Letters don t have to be precise and artistic; they should be fairly constant and readable. They should not float like a balloon or sink below the line and should be formed from the top and not the bottom. Practice forming letters with letter formation drills promotes reading and writing for all children. Children with a visual impairment may have the materials modified. Use brightly colored pens with a black contrasting paper. Enlarge all workbook pages and lined paper, double lines work well for children with visual impairment. For children with epilepsy traditional approaches need to be modified. Some student struggle with motor skills as a result of their epilepsy and they are especially vulnerable to inattention and work incompletion. Further breaking down the letters into simpler steps has been proven to promote writing skills in a child with epilepsy. A few easy steps can be taken to ensure the classroom is suitable for hearing impaired students. When possible, turn off equipment that creates background noises, such as fans and projectors, when not in use. Eliminating extra noise helps students with hearing impairments focus on the class lecture and assignments. Remember that hearing aids amplify every sound, including tapping pencils and air conditioners. Area rugs and heavy curtains can also eliminate a great deal of extraneous noise.
