The Impact Report of Public Private Partnership by Youth Bali (Jan 2019) is prepared by Future City Summit and Good City Foundation as part of the development program series "Public Private Partnership by Youth", hosted together with City Government of Bali Island, Denpasar Mayor Office, Tourism Development Board, Wonderful Indonesia and World Economic Forum Global Shapers Community Denpasar Hub. Emerging Future Tourism Cities Network was documented to establish at the end of the program to mark the stronger development pipelines among the private and public sectors in Bali and emerging Asia for sustainable tourism development. Tourism Lab was established to develop the identified development project, Sun Sang Bamboo Village.

Sustainable tourism is the fundamental concern and daily stressing issues in Bali
Islands. The unmanageable tourism development in Bali and lack of
responsible tourism service providers lead to unstable gross growth of tourism.
As CEO of Five Pillar Foundation and Sun Sang Eco Village, we are dedicated
to be the leading movement of Sustainable Tourism Development in Bali &
Beyond. By partnership with Future City Summit we believe our movement will
be much more visible and through developing Tourism Lab, there will be more
collaborative efforts for incubating and supporting the emerging tourism
development idea for better Bali.

Bali is a unique and special place because of many things, especially it's culture, it's
nature, it's people's friendliness, its sacredness, and many else. These elements
contribute to Bali rapid economic blooming under the witness of the world. However,
the tourism industry is not managed very well and wisely. There exist unregulated
growth of hospitality facilities and transfer of lands that caused many issues such as
water crisis , plastic trash, culture degradation, flood, etc. As global shaper
Denpasar hub, it comes to our responsibility to support Bali, our local community, to
address those issues by giving solution. And we can see that opportunity through
the event held by Future City Summit as "Bali Beyond Tourism". Thru that event we
got valuable ideas to be implemented in Bali as well as we found out potential
sustainable collaboration with FCS for Bali Islands.

Public-Private Partnership by Youth, FCS/Bali2019 has been a great success for
FCS team. By bringing the major stakeholders from the public and private
sector on board, establishing emerging future tourism cities network, finding
out top ideas through the hybridized industry jam and establishing the tourism
lab, together we have unleashed a new path for building a better Bali and a
better Denpasar for a sustainable future. FCS visions to build PPP by Youth as
one of the fastest growing platforms for young leaders to connect, co-create
and bring impact.PPP by Youth inspires entrepreneurship beyond borders.

5. About Future City Summit and Global Shapers
Future City Summit(“FCS”) (Hong Kong Company Registration Number: 2545289) is a non-
profit non-governmental organisation basing in Hong Kong founded in 2016 with the Global
Partnership Seed Fund of The University of Hong Kong. FCS visions an acceleration of thinking of
charismatic future cities through public and private partnership.
The organisation has been operating with project series “Public Private Partnership by Youth” with
stakeholders including Social Youth Business Global, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Asian
Development Bank and corporates such as KPMG. FCS annually hosts General Assembly to
accommodate 200 stakeholders and guests from 24 countries from Asia, Africa and Europe, through
which Emerging Future Cities Network is established for industry specific and geo-socio-politics
specific development.
Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring
young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional and global
challenges. With more than 7,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 369 city-based
hubs in 171 countries.

6. About Public Private Partnership by Youth
The Public Private Partnership by Youth(“PPP by Youth”) initiates a series of programs
taking place in designated emerging future cities through the collaboration of local
government and Future City Summit. The initiative missions to address local needs through
emerging young leaders from sectors and followed with funded implementation and
capacity building programs by advisors of Future City Summit organization.
Future City Summit is designed with a flow of knowledge to action transformation and a
commitment process. Through a series of thought discussion and learning with keynote
sessions(fireside chats), panel sessions, and then sharing of best practices FCS cultivates a
cross-sectoral multi-stakeholder development and partnership model for emerging Asia.

Panel Sessions 1a : Unsung Heroes of Tourism Industry
Stories and Insights behind the scene. People, Local and authentic inspiration for a future of tourism
Tourism is about the characteristics of a city, and the sustainability of charisma of a city lies on
the people. Their stories would be insightful for shaping a face of tourism that brings emotion,
impression and vision that is down to earth.
The panel explored more untold stories of the local folks and faces in the tourism industry in Bali.
Their experience becomes valuable lessons for the true need of the industry.
Panel Sessions 1b : Tourism, Urban Design and Eco-Friendliness
City, Destination and Environment
How urban design in built environment and suburban rural creates resilience with the
development of tourism in future in a city? How shall different sectors come with each other to
co-create a more eco-friendly and sustainable city that holds higher values and inspiration for
every tourism journey in a city?
The panel explored multiple latest development ideas and issues of urban design in a built
environment.

Panel Sessions 2a : Responsible Entertainment for Future of Tourism
Entertainment that holds the legacy of culture, arts and humanity in tourism of enjoyment and leisure
What is the meanings and values of entertainment to tourism, against the sole values of
consumerism? How entertainment with cultures and arts define a tourism location?
The panel explored the dynamics and chemistry of tourism and entertainment with local
cultures and arts. The discussion would focus how entertainment becomes a new form of
vehicle, with technology innovation and forms of social media | to represent the ideology of
tourism, and how this brings sustainable, educational and substantial values to every tourist.
Panel Sessions 2b : Hybridized Tourism for The Next 10 Years of Bali
Roadmap to Sustainable Tourism City in Southeast Asia
How shall we redefine the meanings and values of tourism in a city? How will tourism industry be
like in coming 10 years? Will the industry merge and bud with a hybridised one with other
elements of culture, entertainment, technology and policy? How shall an emerging city in
Southeast Asia like Bali be better prepared?
The dialogue is brought forth with representatives from local government, private sector and
international agency to provide multiple perspectives to reimagine the need of the industry,
and how the next generation shall put forth the entrepreneurship, technology, policy and
innovation to co-shape the industry for better city?

Tourism with Charisma, Vision and Characteristics, through Imagination and Leadership
Entrepreneurship in Government and Global / Regional Stakeholder Leadership
As global issues become more complicated and with the cities become more of a habitat
for blooming populations, urban issues and its sub-urban development and connectivity
require higher quality of government leadership and hence its design for the future of the
city. The leadership requires higher complexity of capacity and skills.
This Fireside Chat explored with the prestigious Mayor of Denpasar city, the to-be Creative
City in Bali Island, and understands fully the vision and determination of government for re-
shaping the image and charisma of the city. What is the lesson learnt for the governance
and leadership of Denpasar that we can take good reference of? And what is the
meaning and values of “public - private - community partnership” to the next
generation?

Emerging Future Tourism Cities Network(“Network”) is designed by Future City Summit and together with
local partners from Bali, such as and not limited to, Indonesian Creative Cities Network, Global Shapers
Denpasar Hub, Mayor Office of Denpasar, 1001Teras and other representatives from other cities in Asia.
The Network is a branch-out of Emerging Future Cities Network established in August 2018 in Guangzhou,
China, (with Mr. Zaki Yamani represented the resources in Indonesia and Jakarta city). The Emerging Future
Tourism Cities Network is designed to establish with the setting of Tourism Lab and Tourism Impact Fund to
accelerate the vision of Bali Future Tourism in coming 10 years.

12. Tourism Lab and Tourism Development Fund
The Tourism Lab is branded to a provided co-working facility to infil with signed international resources in
Asia and the World through Global Shapers Community and Future City Summit for more regional facilitation
and incubation. The Tourism Lab will serve as an incubator and sand box for feasible innovation of tourism
and its related sectors such as entertainment, arts, technology and urban development.
While the Tourism Impact Fund is set with co-founding of Future City Summit and City Partner Mr. Zaki
Yamani, the resources(capital, regional network and intellectual resources) will be spent for development of
future of tourism in Bali and the country through collaboration and the framework through partnership with
local government in Indonesia.

awareness of development and establishment of “Tourism Lab” and “Tourism Development Fund”
through “Emerging Future Tourism Cities Network”. The media reporting ensures the continuous social
