Most of the computer applications use digital images. Digital image processing acts an important
role in the analysis and interpretation of data, which is in the digital form. Images taken in foggy
weather condition often suffer from poor visibility and clarity. After the study of several fast
dehazing methods like Tan’s dehazing technique, Fattal’s dehazing technique and aiming Heat al
dehazing technique, Dark Channel Prior (DCP) intended by He et al is most substantive technique
for dehazing. This survey aims to study about various existing methods such as polarization, dark
channel prior, depth map based method etc. are used for dehazing.
This paper analyzed different haze removal methods. Haze causes trouble to
many computer graphics/vision applications as it reduces the visibility of the scene. Air light and
attenuation are two basic phenomena of haze. air light enhances the whiteness in scene and on
the other hand attenuation reduces the contrast. the colour and contrast of the scene is recovered
by haze removal techniques. many applications like object detection , surveillance, consumer
electronics etc. apply haze removal techniques. this paper widely focuses on the methods of
effectively eliminating haze from digital images. it also indicates the demerits of current
techniques.

The single image dehazing based on efficient transmission estimationAVVENIRE TECHNOLOGIES
We propose a novel haze imaging model for single image haze removal. Haze imaging model is formulated using dark channel prior (DCP), scene radiance, intensity, atmospheric light and transmission medium. The dark channel prior is based on the statistics of outdoor haze-free images. We find that, in most of the local regions which do not cover the sky, some pixels (called dark pixels) very often have very low intensity in at least one color (RGB) channel. In hazy images, the intensity of these dark pixels in that channel is mainly contributed by the air light. Therefore, these dark pixels can directly provide an accurate estimation of the haze transmission. Combining a haze imaging model and a interpolation method, we can recover a high-quality haze free image and produce a good depth map.

A Review over Different Blur Detection Techniques in Image Processingpaperpublications3
Abstract: In last few years there is lot of development and attentions in area of blur detection techniques. The Blur detection techniques are very helpful in real life application and are used in image segmentation, image restoration and image enhancement. Blur detection techniques are used to remove the blur from a blurred region of an image which is due to defocus of a camera or motion of an object. In this literature review we represent some techniques of blur detection such as Blind image de-convolution, Low depth of field, Edge sharpness analysis, and Low directional high frequency energy. After studying all these techniques we have found that there are lot of future work is required for the development of perfect and effective blur detection technique.
Image Denoising Using Earth Mover's Distance and Local HistogramsCSCJournals
In this paper an adaptive range and domain filtering is presented. In the proposed method local histograms are computed to tune the range and domain extensions of bilateral filter. Noise histogram is estimated to measure the noise level at each pixel in the noisy image. The extensions of range and domain filters are determined based on pixel noise level. Experimental results show that the proposed method effectively removes the noise while preserves the details. The proposed method performs better than bilateral filter and restored test images have higher PSNR than those obtained by applying popular Bayesshrink wavelet denoising method.
Single Image Fog Removal Based on Fusion Strategy csandit
Images of outdoor scenes are degraded by absorption and scattering by the suspended particles and water droplets in the atmosphere. The light coming from a scene towards the camera is attenuated by fog and is blended with the airlight which adds more whiteness into the scene. Fog removal is highly desired in computer vision applications. Removing fog from images can
significantly increase the visibility of the scene and is more visually pleasing. In this paper, we propose a method that can handle both homogeneous and heterogeneous fog which has been tested on several types of synthetic and real images. We formulate the restoration problem
based on fusion strategy that combines two derived images from a single foggy image. One of
the images is derived using contrast based method while the other is derived using statistical
based approach. These derived images are then weighted by a specific weight map to restore
the image. We have performed a qualitative and quantitative evaluation on 60 images. We use
the mean square error and peak signal-to-noise ratio as the performance metrics to compare
our technique with the state-of-the-art algorithms. The proposed technique is simple and shows
comparable or even slightly better results with the state-of-the-art algorithms used for
defogging a single image.

Depth Estimation from Defocused Images: a SurveyIJAAS Team
An important step in 3D data generation is the generation of depth map. Depth map is a black and white image which has exactly the same size of the original captured 2D image that indicates the relative distance of each pixel from the observer to the objects in the real world. This paper presents a survey of Depth Perception from Defocused or blurs images as well as image from motion. The change of distance of the object from the camera has direct relation with the amount of blurring of object in the image. The amount of blurring will be calculated with a comparison in front of the camera directly and can be seen with the changes at gray level around the edges of objects.
An Image Enhancement Approach to Achieve High Speed using Adaptive Modified B...TELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
For real time application scenarios of image processing, satellite imaginary has grown more interest by researches due to the informative nature of image. Satellite images are captured using high quality cameras. These images are captured from space using on-board cameras. Wrong ISO setting, camera vibrations or wrong sensory setting causes noise. The degraded image can cause less efficient results during visual perception which is a challenging issue for researchers. Another reason is that noise corrupts the image during acquisition, transmission, interference or dust particles on the scanner screen of image from satellite to the earth stations. If quality degraded images are used for further processing then it may result in wrong information extraction. In order to cater this issue, image filtering or denoising approach is required.
Since remote sensing images are captured from space using on-board camera which requires high speed operating device which can provide better reconstruction quality by utilizing lesser power consumption. Recently various approaches have been proposed for image filtering. Key challenges with these approaches are reconstruction quality, operating speed, image quality by preserving information at edges on image.
Proposed approach is named as modified bilateral filter. In this approach bilateral filter and kernel schemes are combined. In order to overcome the drawbacks, modified bilateral filtering by using FPGA to perform the parallelism process for denoising is implemented.

Performance of Various Order Statistics Filters in Impulse and Mixed Noise Re...sipij
Remote sensing images (ranges from satellite to seismic) are affected by number of noises like interference, impulse and speckle noises. Image denoising is one of the traditional problems in digital image processing, which plays vital role as a pre-processing step in number of image and video applications. Image denoising still remains a challenging research area for researchers because noise
removal introduces artifacts and causes blurring of the images. This study is done with the intension of designing a best algorithm for impulsive noise reduction in an industrial environment. A review of the typical impulsive noise reduction systems which are based on order statistics are done and particularized for the described situation. Finally, computational aspects are analyzed in terms of PSNR values and some solutions are proposed.

Analysis of Various Image De-Noising Techniques: A Perspective Viewijtsrd
A critical issue in the image restoration is the problem of de noising images while keeping the integrity of relevant image information. A large number of image de noising techniques are proposed to remove noise. Mainly these techniques are depends upon the type of noise present in images. So image de noising still remains an important challenge for researchers because de noising techniques remove noise from images but also introduces some artifacts and cause blurring. In this paper we discuss about various image de noising and their features. Some of these techniques provide satisfactory results in noise removal and also preserving edges with fine details present in images. Noise modeling in images is greatly affected by capturing instruments, data transmission media, image quantization and discrete sources of radiation. Different algorithms are used depending on the noise model. Most of the natural images are assumed to have additive random noise which is modeled as a Gaussian. Speckle noise is observed in ultrasound images whereas Rician noise affects MRI images. The scope of the paper is to focus on noise removal techniques for natural images. Shadow Detection and Removal in Still Images by using Hue Properties of Color...ijsrd.com
This paper involves the review of the Shadow Detection and Removal in still images. No prior information has been used such as background images etc. for finding the shadows. It is a very challenging issue for the computer vision system that shadows effect the perception of artificial intelligence based machines in appropriately detecting the particular object as shadows also picked by them and detected as false positive objects. Also in surveillance, it affects the proper tracking of humans such as at airports. We proposed a method to remove shadows which eliminates the shadow much better than existed methods. RGB space has been used of the images and some morphological operations also applied to get better results.

Shadow Detection and Removal using Tricolor Attenuation Model Based on Featur...ijtsrd
Presently present TAM FD, a novel expansion of tricolor constriction model custom fitted for the difficult issue of shadow identification in pictures. Past strategies for shadow discovery center on learning the neighborhood appearance of shadow areas, while utilizing restricted nearby setting thinking as pairwise possibilities in a Conditional Random Field. Interestingly, the proposed methodology can display more elevated amount connections and worldwide scene attributes. We train a shadow locator that relates to the generator of a restrictive TAM, and expand its shadow precision by consolidating the run of the mill TAM misfortune with an information misfortune term utilizing highlight descriptor. Shadows happen when articles impede direct light from a wellspring of enlightenment, which is generally the sun. As indicated by the rule of arrangement, shadows can be separated into cast shadow and self shadow. Cast shadow is planned by the projection of articles toward the light source self shadow alludes to the piece of the item that isnt enlightened. For a cast shadow, the piece of it where direct light is totally hindered by an article is named the umbra, while the part where direct light is mostly blocked is named the obscuration. On account of the presence of an obscuration, there wont be an unequivocal limit among shadowed and non shadowed regions the shadows cause incomplete or all out loss of radiometric data in the influenced zones, and therefore, they make errands like picture elucidation, object identification and acknowledgment, and change recognition progressively troublesome or even inconceivable. Parameterized Image Filtering Using fuzzy LogicEditor IJCATR
The principal source of blur in digital images arise during image acquisition (digitization) or transmission. The
performance of imaging sensors is affected by a variety of factors, such as the environmental conditions during image acquisition.
Blurry images are the result of movement of the camera during shooting (not holding it still) or the camera not being capable of
choosing a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the action under the light conditions. For instance, in acquiring images with a camera,
light levels and sensor temperature are major factors affecting the amount of blur in the resulting image.
Blur was implemented by first creating a PSF filter in MatLab that would approximate linear motion blur. This PSF was then
convolved with the original image to produce the blurred image. Convolution is a mathematical process by which a signal, in this case
the image, is acted on by a system, the filter, in order to find the resulting signal. The amount of blur added to the original image
depended on two parameters of the PSF: length of blur (in pixels), and the angle of the blur. This thesis work is going to provide a
new, faster, and more efficient noise reduction method for images corrupted with motion blur. This new filter has two separated steps
or phases: the detection phase and the filtering phase. The detection phase uses fuzzy rules to determine whether a image is blurred or
not. When blurry image is detected, Then we use fuzzy filtering technique focuses only on the on the real blurred pixels.
In the presence of dynamic background (such as camouflage, ripples in water) detecting of moving objects
became the very toughest job. In order to subtract the background we are using three techniques in this paper i.e.
CDH, FCDH, FCH. Initially the CDH (color difference histogram) technique used in order to remove the dynamic
background so that it will help us to detect the moving objects by minimizing the false error occurred due to the
non-stationary background. This paper proposes an algorithm FCDH (fuzzy color difference histogram) which
uses the concept of fuzzy C-means clustering (FCM) and updates CDH for reducing the effects of intensity
variations because of some fake motions. This algorithm tested with number of videos available in public.

Drug use has become prevalent today than any other time in Kenya. Youths are using drugs which modify their mental, emotional and behavioural functioning. The purpose of this study therefore was to investigate the influence of drug use on academic performance among secondary school students in Matinyani district. Descriptive survey was used in this study. Fourteen public secondary schools were involved with population of 1701 students. Purposive sampling was used in the sample selection to select 5 schools which included a girls boarding, a boys boarding school, a mixed day school, a mixed boarding school and a mixed day and a boarding school. A sample size of 269 was used. The data was collected by use of a Core Alcohol and Drug Survey Questionnaire. Validity and reliability of the study instrument was established through a pilot study. A correlation coefficient alpha of 0.7408 was obtained. According to, Fraenkel and Wallen (2002) a reliability co efficient of 0.7 or more implies high degree of reliability. Data was analysed by use of descriptive statistics with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Percentages, tables, bar graphs and charts were used in presenting and summarizing the findings. The study established that drug use is common among secondary school students in Matinyani district; students drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and chew miraa/khat. The study findings on emerging trends drug use revealed that most of the students started taking drugs at adolescent stage.
IJRET-V1I2P1 -Measurement and FEMM Modelling of Experimentally Generated Stro...ISAR Publications
This work presents correlations between experimentally generated magnetic field strengths and computationally modeled field strengths. The experimental set-up comprised a C-shape structure designed to generate strong magnetic field strengths. The sections of the C-structure were individual solenoids made from copper-wound low carbon steel. These sections were connected such that the overall structure formed a continuous conduit for the magnetic flux and concentrated the magnetic field into an air gap. This experimental set-up could be used for magnetic annealing, or alternatively to measure the magnetostrictive strain properties of suitable materials, placed in the air gap. Magnetic field strengths of approximately 1.0 Tesla (T) were measured using a magnetic field strength meter. Finite Element Method Magnetics (FEMM) computational modeling software was used to model the design and predict field strengths. Modeled field strengths fell short of practical measurements. The efficiency of the apparatus in producing high fields is reduced due to effects related to drilling and machining of the steel core. Other reasons for discrepancies include the configuration of the C-shape, the properties of the core material, and skin effects. By building these considerations into the FEMM model, a more accurate representation of the workings of the C-shape set-up was achieved.

IJRET-V1I1P3 - Remotely Sensed Images in using Automatic Road Map CompilationISAR Publications
High Resolution satellite Imagery is an important source for road network extraction for
roads database creation, refinement and updating. Various sources of imagery are known for their
differences in spectral, spatial, radioactive and temporal characteristics and thus are suitable for
different purposes of vegetation mapping. A number of shape descriptors are computed to reduce
the misclassification between road and other spectrally similar objects. The detected road segments
are further refined using morphological operations to form final road network, which is then
evaluated for its completeness, correctness and quality. The proposed methodology has been tested
on updating on road extraction from remotely-sensed imagery.
IJRET-V1I1P1 - Forest Fire Detection Based on Wireless Image Processing ISAR Publications
Fire is a terrifying weapon, with nearly unlimited destructive power. Fire accidents are a major
cause of human suffering and material loss and the one that perhaps are predicted the least
accurately. A series of computer vision-based fire detection algorithms is proposed in this paper.
These algorithms can be used in parallel with conventional fire detection systems to reduce false
alarms. The motivation behind this research is to obtain beneficial information from images in the
forest spatial data and use the same in the determination of regions at the risk of fires by utilizing
Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence techniques. The proposed intelligent system will thus
aid in alerting the fire stations with the help of a Global System for Mobile Communications in
event of any fire to take immediate actions before fire spreads quickly and causes traumatizing
loss.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

A Survey Paper On Single Image and Video Dehazing Methods

I. Introduction:
Images of outdoor scenes are basically
degraded by the presence of different particles
and the water droplets in the atmosphere. The
outdoor scene images are frequently degraded
by poor atmospheric conditions. In these
instances, atmospheric singularities like fog and
haze weaken substantially the visibility of the
captured image. While capturing a scene in the
camera in a bad weather condition the
irradiance received by the camera from the
scene point is attenuated along the line of sight.
Some other option would be to suppose that an
estimated 3D geometric style of the image is
supplied. Terabits and Schechter showed how
different angles of polarized filters are utilized
to calculate the haze effects. So individual
frame or image when undergoes the dehazing
algorithm and then debased frames are
recombined to form a video. Image Fusion is a
mechanism to improve the quality of
information from a set of images. By the
process of image fusion the good information
from each of the given images is fused together
to form a resultant image whose quality is
superior to any of the input images. For a single
input hazy image the haze removal problem is
under constrained problem. Therefore many
researchers adopted the method in which they
have considered multiple images or additional
images.
II. Literature Survey:
This section covers the literature from the study
of various research papers. Wang, et al. (2010)
has explored that haze removal from the image
depend upon the unknown depth information.
This algorithm is based on the atmospheric
scattering physics-based model. In this on
selected region a dark channel prior is applied
to obtain a novel estimation of atmospheric
light. This model is based upon some
observation on haze free outdoor image. In non-
sky patches, at least one color channel has very
low intensity at some pixels. The low intensity
in that region is due to shadows, colorful
objects and dark objects etc.
Abstract:

Figure 1. Natural Foggy Image and Air Light Effect
Defogging can be done by two ways i.e.,
multiple images fog removal method and single
image fog removal method. Multiple images
fog removal techniques includes various
methods described below: Vision in bad
weather was proposed by S. K. Nayar et. al. In
this method multiple images under different
weather conditions of the same scene are taken
and are then combined to remove fog from
image. Later the concept of polarization filters
was used. These methods used different degree
of polarization to remove haze from images
III. Gaps in Literature Survey:
It has been originated that the most of the
existing research have mistreated many
subjects.The presented methods have neglected
the techniques to reduce the noise issue which
is presented in the output images of the existing
fog removal algorithms. Not much effort has
focused on the integrated approach of the
Adaptive histogram equalization and Dark
channel prior. The problem of the uneven
illuminate is also neglected by the most of the
researchers.
IV. Bilateral filter:
Filtering is perhaps the most fundamental
operation of image processing and computer
vision. In the broadest sense of the term
"filtering", the value of the filtered image at a
given location is a function of the values of the
input image in a small neighborhood of the
same location. For example, Gaussian low-pass
filtering computes a weighted average of pixel
values in the neighborhood, in which the
weights decrease with distance from the
neighborhood center. Although formal and
quantitative explanations of this weight fall-off
can be given, the intuition is that images
typically vary slowly over space, so near pixels
are likely to have similar values, and it is
therefore appropriate to average them together.
The noise values that corrupt these nearby
pixels are mutually less correlated than the
signal values, so noise is averaged away while
signal is preserved.

Fig. Bilateral filter
Parameters:
As the range parameter sr increases, the
bilateral filter gradually approaches Gaussian
convolution more closely because the range
Gaussian widens and flattens, which means that
it becomes nearly constant over the intensity
interval of the image. As the spatial parameter
sd increases, the larger features get
smoothened.
Limitations:
The bilateral filter in its direct form can
introduce several types of image artifacts:
Staircase effect - intensity plateaus that lead
to images appearing like cartoons .Gradient
reversal - introduction of false edges in the
image .There exist several extensions to the
filter that deal with these artifacts. Alternative
filters, like the guided filte, have also been
proposed as an efficient alternative without
these limitations.
V. Dehazing Methods:
Under the bad weather conditions the
atmosphere contains the fog and haze particles
so that the color and contrast of the images are
drastically degraded. The degradation level
increases with the distance from the camera to
the object. The removal of haze from the
captured hazy images needs to estimate the
depth of the haze. The initial works for the haze
removal uses multiple input images those have
been taken under a bad weather condition of a
same scene and the recent haze removal process
requires single input image for the estimation of
the depth.
VI. Conclusion:
These paper gives a brief review on various
dehazing techniques. review work to minimize
artifacts introduced by the Images, multi-scale
fashion view. Compared with previous
dehazing methods, our algorithm has three main
advantages. it performs an effective per-pixel
computation, different than the majority of the
previous methods that consider patches. Finally,
which enables us to submit on time once our
paper is ready and also enables us to do more
research..
