Idiot Nation Analysis
As I was sitting down in freshman year I remember that we had an assignment in class and we did
not have enough books and many pages were missing we had to share them. I think that school
should be upgrade in many always because it's a great way of helping the children? Do we really
care about there father and motivating to be success in life? It will also help them to be success
more in class when they have the materials they need. For example can guys imagine the world
without education or image the world without history or books what would the world do? also, can

And Michael Moore argues about American white people have lack of education and are not willing
to improve on there education. And should improve on focusing on reading books and learning
something new every day and he Has giving use a great example that many people as today define
reading as boring because Many American white people are tending ''cultural illiteracy of
television" they are watching too much TV and Has giving us a great way of telling us how horrible
American is becoming that people should stop watching TV for hours The main reason why
America is becoming a ''stupid American white people '' because technology are the main reason
why American people are becoming lazy throughout the years go by. Another reason in my opinion
Americans always find a short cuts to learning, for example they rather watch a movie instead of

Confident Idiot Summary
Musings of a Confident Idiot
It's safe to say that many would object to being called an "idiot." Though the term, along with
colloquial counterparts "moron" and "imbecile," is rooted in a medical diagnosis based on IQ
scores, the word has evolved with a negative connotation and has come to informally mean "a stupid
person." Why, then, has psychologist David Dunning written a lengthy article entitled "We Are All
Confident Idiots"? In "Confident Idiots," Dunning addresses the phenomenon of overconfidence in
uninformed (or rather misinformed, as Dunning puts it) people. Though the article's premise may
leave some readers uncomfortable, it approaches a very real issue in a nonthreatening way.
Dunning's article is effective because of its language, focus on audience, and concluding points.
Dunning uses specific words to make his point clear. His careful word placement starts in the title.
Why does he use the word "idiot" when he could have used any ... Show more content on

The shock factor. As a psychologist, Dunning knows that most people would take umbrage at being
called an idiot; he uses that emotion to pique the reader's interest in the subject matter. Dunning's
gamble pays off, and he makes a personal connection with the reader as he goes on. In the sentence,
"The problem of unrecognized ignorance is one that visits us all," Dunning uses the word "us" to
count himself in the number of ignorant people. His tiny admission humanizes him, and Dunning's
self–deprecation inspires a more receptive reader. Dunning uses his psychology background not to
lord over the uneducated, "ignorant" masses, but rather to put his misinformed audience at ease and
communicate to them that "Hey, you don't know as

Analysis Of Green Day By George W. Bush
Art is an essential form of protest in a time of crisis or for political or social reforms. George W.
Bush is one of the most controversial presidents in history and prompted some of the loudest
outcries from the public. The music world became very involved in this particular fight, many artists
from multiple generations and genres protested Bush. American Idiot by Green Day is one of the
best examples and the most well–known protest of Bush and his administration. However, despite
its popularity and acclaim it did receive a lot of criticism. Going against such a powerful and
influential person in society, the band subjected themselves to the possibility of censorship by the
media and accusations of being unpatriotic. Another uproar was ... Show more content on

Green Day felt the "weight of the darkness that covered the country during Bush's first term...They
found a voice in an era that was disorienting for many" (D 'Ambrosio, "Green Day Never Gives
Up"). Although the album did not stop Bush's re–election, it "was both a harbinger and beneficiary
of the Bush administration's plummeting approval, selling steadily through 2005" (Pareles, Jon.
"The Morning After 'American Idiot.'"). American Idiot sold 267000 copies in the US and was
number 1 on multiple chains, like Billboard's top 100. It received the Grammy Award for Best Rock
Album in 2005, Favorite Pop/Rock Album in 2005 at the American Music Awards, Best
International Album in 2006 at the BRIT Awards, and won and was nominated for multiple other
awards. The awards, critical acclaim, and general popularity amongst the public "shows that a
quality record that contains a well–thought–out message can still appeal to a broad market"
(Newman, "A Smart Start For Green Day"). Green Day maintains the idea of being punk insurgents,
rebellious musicians who push boundaries and more closely align with teenage angst rather than
adults. In spite of their reputation, Green Day was criticized by fans of going "sappy," especially in
regards "Wake Me Up When September Ends" which was centered around the profound effect the
death of his father had on Armstrong. In their video for "Wake Me Up When September Ends,"
Green Day exploits their watchers' emotions to gain

English Class Reflection Paper
I've had the worst luck when it comes to English class. This was a recurring event, particularly in
high school. Every year I would dread walking to my English because I already know that it would
be horrible. The class itself wasn't horrible, it was just the teacher themselves. I was always shy and
my teachers would never help motivate me to be a bit more interactive in class. In my opinion, the
way you teach and the way you approach your student is very important because it has such a huge
impact on the student's perspective for that material. So I wonder, will this impact my interaction
forever or should I choose to not let this experience bother me?
In my high school, I've never felt satisfied with my teachers. I feel as if I've never reached my true
potential of communicating in class or interacting with the class overall. I attended a very small
school that only had two English teachers in the department.Entering this school year as a freshman,
I believed that this was my time to shine. I shouldn't be quiet in class anymore as I had to blossom. I
came to my school thinking that because it was small, my teacher's would be attentive and
motivating. I remember entering her classroom and the first thing she said was, "Hi, you guys won't
pass my class. I have high expectations so I expect you guys to WOW me!" My teacher's approach
was different when it came to her class. I found it a bit aggressive and questioned why a school
would even let this behavior pass through.

Essay On American Idiot
How American Idiot impacted our culture
September 20, 2004 is when a song named, "American idiot" came out by a band named Green day,
impacting our culture by explaining how the youth are being conformists, The song also talks about
how the media owns the people, how people are idiots for listening to what is being fed to them, and
finally the division of the united states of America over political issues. This song was made to point
out how America is with the technology that is connected with the media such as cell phones and
television making the media influence to society easier; another point would be how the political
issues such as war on terrorism this is being evoked throughout this song, and the final topic being
brought up by Green Day is paranoia how America is paranoia after the terrorist attack back in Two
thousand and one. These are the reasons how American Idiot impacted our culture from evoking
political issues into their song or even stating how America is in a paranoia from the terrorist attack
on the twin towers, also how the media is manipulating the ... Show more content on

I Was A Last Year Old Girl, Living Inside Myself Essay
I was a 12–year–old girl, living inside myself. I hadn't felt a single emotion since I was eight, and
they had started fading two years before that. I had been betrayed by someone in my family.
Someone that I loved and looked up to. Ever since the betrayal had started, I had started to hate and
mistrust people. Especially boys. I had put up a mental shield between me and the rest of the world.
No emotions, no trust, no love. Nothing. No one ever picked up on it, though. When my emotions
had first started fading, I started paying attention to how other people acted, and got really good at
feigning emotions. I had even perfected pretending to cry and laugh. No one ever noticed that I went
without them. I never thought I would feel again. One day, in 6th grade, I got an email from a name
I had never seen before. Hey. I was just wondering how your day was going? You sounded good at
band today. I deleted it, without responding. The next day we had band, I got an email before it,
saying, I hope I get to see you at band again today. I was starting to get confused. There was only
about four or five people I talked to at band. None of them were boys, though, and it was a boy's
name on the email. I thought they had the wrong name. After a few days of emails, I started
responding in short messages. After a couple of weeks, I started chatting him on email, but only for
short periods of time. I still didn't trust them, and didn't want to let them get too close. One day,

Gabriel's Point Of View
Gabriel's Point of view : My alarm went off and that's when I knew that it was time for me to go to
work. My job was not the best thing in the world but even though I did not like it I had to work
because i had a family to send money to Mexico. I headed out the door with my cotton sack when I
got to the fields of cotton I saw panchito, Roberto and his dad they both had there cotton sack in one
hand and a water bottle and the other as soon I got closer to them i said good morning and so they
did. After a while of getting ready to start picking the cotton the contratista came and started to yell
for everyone to start working. As we started to work I could already feel the hot sun and by this I

called me an idiot so i told him in a loud tone that I would not do it. He told that I would regret this.
The next day non of the workers showed up to work we did this because since the contratista does
not want to show us respect then we wont get his work done. I new this was a good but bad idea at
the same time because how are we going to get money. A couple days went by and the cantratista
was begging people to come back to work. Everyone agreed that it was time to go back to work .
When we got to work the contratista told us to get in a circle so he could say some words.
Contratista point of view – I know i have been really unfair with some of you so i have decided that
it is time to have respect towards you my workers and also pay you guys more.
Workers point of view– when those words came out his mouth everyone started cheering and since
that day we knew that our job was going to great again and that we still going to be able to send

Idiot Drivers
While driving down the highway many people have noticed different types of drivers. There are the
ones that go way too fast, way too slow, listening to music with the volume all of the way up, or the
ones that seem fairly responsible. Leading comedian George Carlin ask the question, "Have you
ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a
maniac?" He put a name to two types of drivers; nevertheless, there are more than just idiots or
maniacs. In fact, there are four main categories of drivers. In addition to idiots and maniacs, there
are defensive drivers and jammers. Everyone has different personalities, and it shows while they are
driving. The first driving personality is the idiot drivers, and no they are not idiotic people driving
around town. Idiot drivers are those that drive like a grandma, also known as Sunday drivers. This
means they always drive well below the speed limit, usually in a no passing zone. Idiot drivers like
to take in the details and enjoy the slower pace of life. Typically idiot drivers seem to not care about
getting places; however, they really just enjoy the ride and the beauty of the journey. They do not
mind when others become upset with them for driving so slow. Idiots really are not idiots, they just
have a different vibe about how they live their lives.
On the other end of the spectrum of drivers are maniac drivers. Maniacs, better known as the road
ragers, are considered the "bad boys" of

Analysis : The Innocence Of Father Brown
In 1911, G. K. Chesterton publishes "The Innocence of Father Brown", a book with numerous
detective stories that besides entertaining does a great job in describing the culture of England at the
beginning of the 20th century. By looking into "The Hammer of God", one of the stories, a reader
also gets an insight into the life of a small English community. Mainly focusing on Wilfred Bohun,
the protagonist of the story, a limited narrator gives a somewhat biased description of other
characters. However, even the least important characters contribute to the realization that the
English community from the early 20th century was not much different than other communities of
that era. Since the quality of the community can best be evaluated from ... Show more content on

Mad Joe is the blacksmith's nephew. Even though the blacksmith is one of the main characters in the
story and a narrator provides us with a lot of information about his personal life, the blacksmith
never interacts with his nephew, not even at church. Therefore, Mad Joe does not receive any kind
of support a mentally ill person would need from his well–known uncle. Thus, the question arises
whether the blacksmith is as decent man as a narrator presents him to be. Furthermore, Mad Joe has
a dissolute brother who regularly ridicules and humiliates him. For instance, his brother tries to
throw pennies into his open mouth. Given that the family is the smallest unit of the community and
that Mad Joe is mistreated by his family members, it is no surprise that the other residents of the
village also ridicule him.
Even though ridiculed, a character of Mad Joe helps us find out information about the protagonist
that a narrator does not give out. Wilfred Bohun, the protagonist, is described as devout. He
practices "austere exercises of prayer" for "purification and new thoughts" (Chesterton). Although a
reader could sense throughout the text that something is bothering Wilfred even before the murder is
solved as he seems nervous and has "livid face" (Chesterton), it is not until Wilfred starts talking
about Mad Joe that a reader realizes how bitter he is and how far from a devout Christian he is.
Firstly, Wilfred is annoyed when he sees Mad

Green Day : An Influential Song
Everyone has heard a Green Day song at some point in their life, from their hit "Holiday" to
"American Idiot." Green Day has been a popular band that started in the 1990's. Being a punk band
in the 90's the artists quickly made an impact by being rebellious and speaking their true thoughts.
They focus on the realities of life, rather than a fluffed–up version that may seem too good to be
true. In some of their other hits they show how broken and defeated someone may be without ever
noticing it. While "Jesus of Suburbia" is not one of their greatest hits, it is an influential song that
almost spans ten minutes of a listener's time. Green Days' Jesus of Suburbia affects the punk rock
crowd by displaying how desensitized our generation has become and the difficulties that our youth
feels that it must go through in order to get by, depicted by repetition and exaggeration.
Green Day is known being fairly blunt with their songs. They do not care about who they offend,
but more so that they are able to get their point across. Throughout "Jesus of Suburbia," the band
focuses on the harsh realities of life. They show how broken and defeated a person can be on the
inside without even knowing or showing it. A big portion of this is because social media and the
news tends to show more bad material then good, which allows the everyday person to become
desensitized to how horrible the things are that they are seeing.

himself into a considerable amount of debt, wanting to get himself written back into his wealthy

After stealing a precious Indian dagger from Luigi, one of the town 's beloved twins, Tom gets

so that if the thief were stupid enough to turn it in, he would be caught. But more likely, the thief

Wilson and the twins had alerted all the pawnshops in the general area that if anyone were to bring

Prince Myshkin Essay
Concepts such as compassion, thoughtfulness, and empathy are what people all over the world
would seemingly strive for. Often, however, these benevolent ideas of the way society should be, are
muddled and manipulated by the reality of the way society actually is. Prince Myshkin, a Russian
man who represents the essence of kindness and morality, is thrown into the high society of
Petersburg, a society that is obsessed with money, power and reputation. In his selfless attempts to
save his companions from their destructive "evil", Prince Myshkin is in turn transformed and
distorted by a superficial and empty society. The title of the book, The Idiot, fits well with Prince
Myshkin's attitude towards human nature and also does well to highlight his status as an outcast;
however The Idealist is a title that would better suit the Prince's thought process and actions.

The Role of the Holy Fool in the Context of Danish Cinema
Introduction
In Christian folklore, the holy fool is an archetypal figure that stands apart from society, elevated to
a transcendent status based on his or her piety. Holy fools flout social norms, and are thus unable to
be properly accommodated in their respective societies. With their position of outsider, holy fools
are ideally suited to critique mainstream ideas and practices, acting as a narrative device to provide
commentary on the world. Holy fools exist in a separate sphere from "regular" fools due to their
associations with Christ figures. Christian tradition speaks of many famous holy fools, from
nameless monks who give up all of their worldly possessions to become closer to Jesus, to
characters of Biblical renown, such as Saint Paul (Thomas 2009: 204). The depiction of a holy fool
is undoubtedly influenced by the religious climate of a society. Traditionally, holy fools have been
part of Roman Catholic and Orthodox faiths, where saints have traditionally been revered for their
ability to follow God in the most extreme fashion so that they appear foolish to the majority of
society that is less in tune with God's wishes. In Denmark, Protestant traditions dominate the
religious landscape, so the depiction of the holy fool must be adjusted accordingly.
In order to understand the role of the holy fool in the context of Danish cinema, it is first necessary
to look at the role of religion in Danish society. Starting in 1536, Denmark has transitioned into a

American Idiot Paraphrase
Green Day's "American Idiot" is a powerful song which presents to us the bands perspectives on the
many issues faced by American society today. The lyrics are carefully written to create a certain
impact, in which many useful techniques are employed to draw a certain response from the audience
and to aid in getting across the songs key messages or themes.
A commonly used technique in song writing, which is clearly utilized in the creation of "American
Idiot", is that of repetition. Throughout the song, there are many lines which the band has
deliberately repeated, such as "Don't want to be an American Idiot" and "all across the alienation".
This technique has been used to emphasize these words and the significant meanings which are
attached to them. Though they may also be repeated for the sake of gathering interest for the song
and its tune, its main use is really to highlight the songs main points and the meanings which it has
of course been constructed to convey. In this instance, it is to portray the Americans as ... Show

It is an indirect way of communicating to their listeners; a tool which enables these listeners to
interpret their own meanings from certain aspects of the lyrics. An example of the use of symbolic
language is evident within the last line of the third stanza, in which the statement "and sing along in
the age of paranoia" has been made. The key word used in this sentence is "age", which symbolises
and points out a particular time or perhaps era. A possible interpretation from the use of such word
is one which criticizes the American people of the songs era, rather than any other. This, in turn, is
saying that it is only the American people around the time of 2004 that are "idiots", suggesting that
2004 and possibly still to this day, American society was within a state of

Green Day Song Analysis: American Idiot
Within the following discussion and analysis, we will be looking at the punk rock group Green day
song, American Idiot. This song is the title track of their seventh studio album of which shares the
same name. Which was release as a single on August 31, 2004, just three weeks before the release of
the full album on September 20, 2004. The central idea of the song focusses on the idea that people
are being told how think or view certain things by an over bias media. It should also be noted that
this song was written during the 2004 presidential election which had a large influence on the song.

The album also won them the 1994 Grammy for best alternative music performance. During the rest

the same level of popularity as their major debut in 1994. Five years latter saw their eighth studio
album, which also found commercial success. It was also at this time that the seventh album was

two, but three album each just one month apart. But the weekend before the first release, Billie Joe
Armstrong had an on–stage breakdown during a set Green Day played at the iHeartRadio Music

to tell myself that its okay that I said no, that there're are more fish in the sea, you can always get her
back, you could've made things work. None of those are true, I was down right nervous, scared,
thrown off balance, and a complete idiot. She is the prettiest person that I know. She's smart, funny,
interesting, and one amazing fine arts student. I some times imagined us dancing together, slowly
and methodically. Just the two of us on a dim light stage with a Righteous Brothers song playing in
the background. I can always see her face when I picture her, her hair, a beautiful dark brown that
went down to the top of her back. If the sun hit it just right she looks as if a phoenix rising from the
ashes in sheer fiery beauty. It would seem my heart would skip a beat each time it happens. Her
eyes, I could have stared into them for hours and just become lost, only to come back to reality from
the sound of her voice, smoother than silk. She always greeted me when I entered the room, always
said goodbye, could tell when I was falling down, and what could cheer me up. What we could've
been if I had only said "yes.". We were already close friends, would always hangout when time
permitted, made it a point to always sit by one another, to always be some of the last ones to leave.
To make that "goodbye see you tomorrow" really mean it. All the things that you do with your

Hi Lynzie: A Fictional Narrative
Hi Lynzie, I wanted to say I'm sorry for the Instagram pages and all of the rude stuff that I had said.
I realize that it was stupid and ignorant and that I had gone too far as soon as I made the page. Yeah,
we had our issues, but that was over until I had brought it up again and dragged you back into it and
I'm sorry for that. I admit that the whole idea was out of anger and stupidity and I acted on it instead
of just letting it go or even talking to you if it had really bothered me to the point of all of this. I
honestly regret ever making the account and ruining your morning, I'm sorry. If this bothers you

Short Story : ' Hello, My Lady ! '
"Hello, my lady! Looking ravishing as always." Chat Noir sang as he danced up to Ladybug as she
perched on the edge of an apartment roof. He sat on the same slope as her, and wriggled across the
space between them until he was right beside her, grinning like an idiot. He imagined a scenario
where she 'd even acknowledge him as her idiot. She glanced at him through the corner of her eye,
still focusing on the late night street activity below.
"Cute," she commented, "but I 'm afraid we won 't be staying here for long, so don 't get too
comfortable."
"Aw, no double strawed milkshake sipping while staring into each other 's beautiful eyes on the

"So, my lady, are there any bad men you need your kitten to take out for you?" Chat wooed, as
Ladybug replied with a groan.
"Chat, if there were any bad man, I 'd take them out myself, for your sake."
"Aw! That 's so sweet of you."
"That 's not what I mean– wait a second...is that an akuma? In the evening?" Ladybug questioned,
crawling closer to the edge of the roof and peering over with squinted eyes.
"I don 't see it, where are you looking?" Chat pestered, practically crawling on top of her to look at
the same angle as her. He thought about mentioning that the whole point of their nightly patrols was
to keep an eye out for those who might be affected, but he had to mentally admit he was just as
confused as Ladybug.
"I– Over there by that woman in the white dress, do you see?"
"Mm, I see her, but not an akuma..."
"I don 't see it anymore either, I was sure it was there, but it also doesn 't seem to have effected her.

What Makes President Dishonest Or Persuasion?
A few fun facts to consider before you continue to decide that our President is "an idiot" or "a
buffoon" or that he will "fail as he has done with everything else."
Let's simply start with the fact that he just pulled off the biggest upset in American political history–
certainly modern American history. In the process of winning, he beat some of the biggest names
and dynasties in politics. He dismantled the Bush's and then ran in a general vs the Clinton Machine
and won.
Let's dig deeper. According to my calculations he spent quite a bit less than half the money to win
than the Democrats. (This may come in handy with a country that is $21 trillion in debt.) Trump
spent roughly $5.00 per vote while Hillary spent nearly $13.00 per vote. When you're talking about
over 59 million votes, thats BIG.
Honestly, he toyed with these career politicians, beating them all handedly at ... Show more content

My final question is– Why? Why in the world would he do it? The guy is a self–made
multiBILLIONAIRE. He doesn't need the money; he doesn't need the fame. In fact, his life is about
to get much worse and more difficult.
So, he endured all that he endured. They attacked him, not simply to win an election but to destroy
his life, his career, and even his family. And he took it.
Why? Maybe he truly feels compelled to sacrifice for this country. Think about that. Clinton would
greatly improve her wealth and her career by winning. Trump will be taking a massive loss to do it.
He also took a brutal personal beating to get there.
So, before you write him off as the end of our country or the worst President ever, remember this–
he beat everyone who knows anything about politics for the biggest political prize in the world with
NO experience, just a gut feeling. He also endured a beating for zero personal gain. Maybe he is the
first guy in a long time who is trying to do it for the right reasons.
God Bless America, and Good Luck President

Essay On American Idiot
Symbols are tangible items or terms that represent complex emotions or ideas. Symbolism in songs
allows allow for artists to convey meaningful messages without having to outwardly explain them.
The song American Idiot by punk rock band Green Day is an abrasive criticism of corruption,
forced control, and the people that are susceptible to them. Billie Joe Armstrong, the song's writer
and singer, implements multiple symbols to represent the ideas and groups that the song deals with.
The American public, the media, and the country of America are all symbols in which the message
of the song is conveyed through.
The term "American idiot" is extremely significant to the song, as it is repeated and is also the title
of the song and album which it appears on. The "American idiot" refers to the general American ...

However, Green Day does not look upon "idiot America" with favor. Within the song, America is a
contextual symbol that represents unjust control and corruption. Throughout American Idiot,
America is depicted negatively; it is routinely referred to in a negative light and is described as a
corrupt entity that seeks to control and oppress people. This is directly related to the other symbols
used in the song, as America uses the media to turn people into ignorant "American idiots" that
accept complete control. Armstrong refers to America as "the alien nation" to emphasize its
controlling features. In the song, America is the "alien" far away source of control that oppresses an
ignorant population. Later in the song, Armstrong suggests that he is "the faggot America" and
denies being part of a "redneck agenda." This inclusion of American cultural slurs that are typically
used to abuse people demonstrate the different ways in which oppression is exercised on the
American public. America, and all things associated with it, are symbols for everything that is
controlling and

The Idiot Book Analysis
Kurosawa's three hour adaptation of The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, a complicated four–part
novel, had to cut out, simplify, and change the original work in order to adapt it to film. However,
looking at the specific changes Kurosawa made, specifically towards the end of his film, it is clear
that the changes he made weren't merely for the sake of time. Although Kurosawa's modifications
might seem random, changes like the bedroom being hot in the book as compared to cold in the
movie, eliminating the wedding scene entirely, and most tellingly having Ayako call herself an idiot
with the last words of the movie dramatically narrow the argument in the story of The Idiot. While
one of the central themes of the original novel was the main character's, Myshkin, Russian Orthodox
Christianity, Kurosawa cut it out entirely and instead moved the focus of his movie onto the
definition of idiocy.
Taken at first glance, the ending to the novel seems more suspenseful, but when examined closer the
movie is just as thrilling as the novel. As Myshkin and Rogozhin lie in bedroom beside Nastasya's
corpse, the room is sweltering. This clearly uncomfortable situation parallels the unsettling feeling
that Dostoevsky desires readers to have with Myshkin comforting Rogozhin. Although this course
of action is the natural conclusion to Myshkin's professed Christianity, readers are more likely to
extend Nastasya pity and compassion, and refrain from giving it to her murderer. As Kurosawa

A Short Story : The Story Of A Prisoner
Never in a million years did Hanson believe he would end up standing in front of this brick wall.
Prisoner. That was the last thing he wanted to be. He was one and there was no denying that what he
did was utterly stupid. He hadn't meant to drive his car off the road and into the McGee family's
front garden. They had pressed charges and he had pleaded guilty because it was the right thing to
do.
While something like this wouldn't have given out prisoner time the way a murder might have, he
had personally asked the judge to send him to prison. This had left the McGee family puzzled as to
why he would request going to prison. They thought he was a little crazy. It kind of scared them but
they knew that staying away from the crazy man was the best thing for them. Although, the McGee
son paid Hanson a visit to forgive him for doing what he did.
"Hey, Hanson!"
Hanson stiffened. He was constantly the target of prison house thugs. He hunched his shoulders and
sighed. He raised his hands like he was surrendering as he turned around to face his so–called
'enemies'.
The man standing in Hanson's sight line was a beefy, muscled man with tanned and long black hair
that was tied back in a tight ponytail. There was a long sickening scar that ran down the right side of
his face.
"Angus, man! Whatcha doing here? Did ya come to see your ol' pal, Hanny?"

A Review of 'an Idiot Abroad'
An Idiot Abroad
The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington
Publisher: Canongate
Year: 2011
Number of Pages: 225
Genre: Comedy
'An Idiot Abroad – The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington' is a written accompaniment to the hit
television series 'An Idiot Abroad'. The book not only re–tells the TV series, but also sports new,
unseen parts from the series and offers a fresh, simple perspective on the 'Seven Wonders of the
World'.
I think it's reasonable to say that those who find themselves reading this book will have seen the
Sky1 series, 'An Idiot Abroad' of which this book accompanies and thus, not much of an
introduction to Karl is required. However for the purpose of this review, Karl Pilkington is an
English television personality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading the book, it just wasn't funny to me. Karl's writing style
however, was very interesting. I really enjoy reading informative writing and Karl certainly delivers
in this category. Each chapter gives an in–depth look into everything Karl does. Being a diary the
writing style doesn't describe every little detail, but gives enough information and descriptive words
to really draw you in.
The book also features pictures taken from every trip. There are four points in the book were
pictures are placed and each point consists of around 8 pages each. I really liked this as they are not
only interesting to look at but fun to compare the image you've built up in your head with the real
thing. One other thing about the structure of the book that I didn't like was the way the 'Karl's Facts'
parts of the book were put in. Although informing they can sometimes break up the sentences and
leave you having to go back to the last page to remember what was happening. The introduction to
each chapter however, was very nice to see. It compared quotes from other books and guides on
each 'wonder' with Karl's view on it. This was humorous and offered a fresh perspective on the
subject.
My overall response to the book is that although funny in places, I feel that it really excels in the
informative area. It was very interesting and, as I've said many times in this review, fresh. It wasn't
sophisticated and to 'smart', if you

Dawson's Landing: Summary And Review
On the Missouri side of the Mississippi River, half a day's journey from St. Louis, was a town called
Dawson's Landing. In 1830, Dawson's Landing gained a new citizen by the name of David Wilson.
David Wilson had a rather unfortunate encounter on his first day in this new town: He had just made
the acquaintance of a group of citizens when an invisible dog began to yelp and snarl and howl and
make himself very comprehensively disagreeable, whereupon young Wilson said, much as one who
is thinking aloud– "I wish I owned half of that dog." "Why?" somebody asked. "Because I would

Wilson's unfortunate reputation in Dawson's Landing led to his law career to a crashing and burning
end, but this gave him more time to develop some rater unusual, but very rewarding hobbies.
Specifically, he studies palm reading, creates an almanac full of witty sayings, and collects people's
fingerprints–the uncommon for the era pastime that eventually leads to his triumph in court. In
short, as a result of his difficult reputation in town, he becomes a more well–rounded, interesting,
and resourceful person. Of course, it's the fingerprinting that really pays off in the end. When Tom

Idiot Nation Analysis
The United States of America is the world most powerful country in the world, dominating the
world's economic and political system. Millions of foreign students come to America for higher
education each year. Ironically enough, America public school system is not so glorious. Indeed, it
is not effective where teachers and students lacked motivation and interaction to develop critical
thinking and innovation. Michael Moore in the article "Idiot Nation" and John Taylor Gatto in
"Against School" argued that the education system in the United States is deeply flawed. Moore

Students do not find interests in school, but they think it is boring and dull. Teachers follow same
guideline and testing procedures to evaluate students' abilities as they were student themselves. As
many decades had passed, the systems do not change much as Gatto emphasized in Against School,
"Teachers are themselves products of the same twelve–years compulsory school programs that so
thoroughly bore their students, and school personnel they are trapped inside structures even more
rigid than those imposed upon the children." (pg148) Truly, our education system really needs
revival and improvement for better. Unfortunately, Gatto emphasized that our educational system
really is Prussian in origin, an old theory that depletes students ambitious and cripples their abilities
to thrive. If the government gives enough funding to school systems, then teachers get appropriate
training. In result, they will develop and apply new teaching methods which stimulate students
critical thinking and inventing ideas. As the fund is available, schools can arrange more field trips
and hands–on activities to students. Replacing outdated textbooks and provide modern technology
equipment to classrooms would stimulate student's curiosities and interests. Furthermore, we need

Summary: An Idiot Abroad
When reading over our discussion topic for this week, I immediately thought of a British TV docu
series called An Idiot Abroad. Basically, the show follows Karl Pilkington, the writer for The Ricky
Gervais Show, who is sent to various parts of the world to experience different cultures. Ricky
Gervais and his friend Stephen send him on this journey as a joke, knowing that Karl is
uncomfortable with the idea that other cultures do things differently than what he is used to, which
is strictly British culture. While watching this show, the viewer can immediately learn the true
definition of Ethnocentrism. In the video link I have provided, Ricky and Stephen are about to send
Karl to the Great Wall of China, and Karl is less than thrilled to embark on this journey. ... Show

He then goes on to talk about some cultural stereotypes that make him nervous including "The way
they write; their letters are weird". This whole conversation is a textbook example of what
ethnocentrism is all about: judging a different culture because it is different from your own. Him
saying that their letters are weird, for example, is extremely ethnocentric in that he only thinks that
they are weird because they are different from the English alphabet. He concludes with the most
ethnocentric statement of all, "Everything that we have done, that we've gotten right, they're going
to do it weirder". He genuinely believes that "we" (as in English speaking cultures) do everything
the ideal way, and any other culture simply is messing with our flawless design. This is the pure
essence of ethnocentrism, which unfortunately staggering amounts of people possess simply due to
comfort in their own home

Persuasive Speech
Let's begin from the end. It ends with a group of teenagers thrown into prison for assassination,
attempted murder, and treason. And, to be fair, that wasn't an unfair sentencing. We did, technically,
try to kill the president. And we did try to overthrow the government. But who could blame us? This
entire country had fallen apart, and no one else seemed to be doing anything about it. So, it was us, a
group of four kids who decided to take a shot. Literally. We had all been friends for a while, meeting
in a the fourth grade. C brought it up, I believe. We were at lunch. Suddenly, they mumbled, "could
we kill him?"
Most of us were quick to turn it down. We couldn't kill someone, right? That was beneath us. We
couldn't do that. But then, John looked between the four of us and asked, "Well, why not? He's
awful, right? So, what's stopping us? No one else has the guts to do it."
And then it didn't take long for us to agree. Of course we all agreed. It makes sense. The
government is flawed. The president is an idiot. We needed to start over. And why shouldn't we be
allowed to? So, we developed a plan. There was word of the president coming into the city in a
month or so. He was going to offer some long–winded speech and people would stare at him
blankly and clap when it felt necessary. The problem was that, once we started to formulate the plan,
we all couldn't back down. Obviously, it needed to be done. That idiot needed to be taken down and
so did his flock of underlings. So,

Narrative Essay : My First Day In High School
Your name is Dawn Strider, and it's your first day of school. Your brother went out and got you a

Compare/Contrast Essay Native American traditional stories, folktales, are stories passed down
from generation to generation by story telling and performance. Native Americans emphasized the
importance of living in harmony with the naturual world. They had complex religious beliefs,
sophisticated poltical systems, and strong morals. Some of the stories are creation myths, tales of
heroes, and tricksters. Trickster tales are stories that have animals or human characters who engage

Even tho Coyote in one tale contrasts Coyote's character from the other they both did well people.
Coyote from "Coyote and the Buffalo", got out of dieing by offering Buffalo Bull new horns.
Buffalo accepted, so it was a win–win situaton for Coyote. In the other tale, Coyote helped find
Coyote's wife by decieving the water maidens, and getting information before killing them. This
helped regain Fox's wife's love. The coyote in these tales had diiferent mentalities from one another,
one being an idiot and one being smart. Another similarity that theses tales have is that they both
explain why the world is how it is. For example, in "Coyote and the Buffalo", when Coyote gives
Buffalo Bull new horns, they become the horns that all buffalos would have from that point on.
Also, when Coyote kills the cow that was given to him by Buffalo as food he decides to go back to
Buffalo to ask for another one but the cow that Coyote killed returned from the dead and refused to
go with coyote again and Buffalo denies him another one. This explains why there are no buffalo in
the Kettle Falls on the Columbia Rive, all because of Coyote. In "Fox and Coyote and Whale", Fox
and Coyote go after Fox's wife who was taken by Whale. After Fox and Coyote rescue her, Fox's
cuts off Whale's head and tosses it into the ocean. This is why there are no whales in the rivers, and

throughout the musical, the dancing observed is also well performed. After all a musical is not a
musical without dancing. The movements made by the cast in each song are well executed as the
cast puts their full effort into each diverse movement. The dancing observed follows many diverse
styles such as, punk rock style jumping, the slow gracefulness of contemporary movements, and
Arial dancing. In addition, the music performed is by a live band that encompasses many different
instruments such as guitar, drums, violin, and cello. Thus, adding to the different dynamics
incorporated throughout the show. Furthermore, the band is cleverly incorporated as the musicians
become part of the show from the way they are dressed and placed on the stage among all the actors.
These different dynamics seen throughout the show help to emphasize the story of the show, while
highlighting the diverse talents of the cast. Moreover, the show incorporates cool special effects
throughout the show. First, they use different light features that make the set come alive. The lights
designed for the show include different colors. The different colors of lights help to convey different
emotions to the audience. For example, red lights are projected

Lord Of The Flies
Lord Of The Flies – Ralph Monologue
Should never have let this happen. Should never have let this happen.
=====================================================================
(Ralph shaking his head)
Jack's an idiot, bloody idiot. Divide and rule. What does he think he's playing at? Does nobody want
to go home? I miss my family. Don't they miss theirs? I just can't understand (sighs). What's wrong
with him? It's his fault we're still here on this stupid island. He should have watched the fire like we
said, not disappear off into the jungle.
Showing off, "I cut the pig's throat." So what. Who cares! We can all do that if we want to, anyone
can be a hunter. It's so pointless, he did it on purpose we were nearly there. He ... Show more

(Reaches for the conch)
The conch, obey the conch. That's what we had agreed, obey the conch!
(Shaking his head)
Piggy should have some ideas but he's lazy and weak. Jack scares him.
Jack the bully. Jack the choirboy. Huh, Piggy scared of everything, everyone, useless. What's the
point. Can't be bothered to do this anymore, can't Piggy do something for once. Let them rot. Let the
beast kill them. Who cares, they can look after themselves. I'm not their parents. Let Jack be leader
if he wants, I don't care. Then they can do what they want. They can hunt all they like.
Jack needs to know who's the chief here. What's the point in electing a leader and then ignoring
him! I need to sort this out. Maybe I should confront him or first talk to him, maybe that's better. I'll
speak to Piggy. Yes that's it he's more sensible than the others. Two heads are better than one, that's
what my mum used to say.
(A tear appears in the corner of his eye)
Never thought I'd miss school and home so much. Missed a few lessons, mum reacted way over the
top. Like I'm a criminal. School and lessons so boring. Tidy your room. Don't fight with your sister.
Don't swear.
Don't do this, don't do that. It's constant, she'd go on and on and on. Wish I was in Devonport, the
wild ponies, the snow, the warmth of my bed.
(Wipes a tear from his eye)
Why is it that only I remember that we want to get rescued? Everybody else seems to have
forgotten.

My Life On The Tenth Day
While on the on the tenth day did the schedule go back to normal ,I'd finally receive a huge three
hour lecture from One who'd go on about everything I'd heard before about putting my life on risk
and them and yada yada this . One was a fourteen year old boy who was younger then me yet he
was intelligent but not just the book smart or just any knowledge. You could say he was a prodigy
then again he was. But man did he nag like a mom he'd be on me 24/7 telling me things that I should
stop like my reckless behavior but beside that he had been the only person to notice my problem.
While he'd nag on me , who was on my knees "Asking when will you learn and get what I say
through that thick skull of yours?" Looking at me intently to respond ... Show more content on

Zero had screamed loud enough to stop process of her to come. "Oh sorry what are we talking about

her still on my knees.
.Moki said staring "stop bullying Cake "
"Moki stop calling me Cake I'll start forgetting my own name if this continues" did I say. Zero
replied "you don't need your real name anyways and Cake's more cheerful." We had laughed at the

In unison sarcastically the answer "we are living in chaos and it 's supposed to be out of the

"Ok I get though what would happen if I wasn't who I said I was or I was losing something

Idiot Nation Analysis

I think that school should be upgrade in many always because it's a great way of helping the children? Do we really care about there father and motivating to be success in life? It will also help them to be success more in class when they have the materials they need. For example can guys imagine the world without education or image the world without history or books what would the world do? also, can you pictured the children are not getting enough education as we should instead American children are using video games, watching TV, social network, only having to used technology ... • 2. Confident Idiot Summary Musings of a Confident Idiot It's safe to say that many would object to being called an "idiot." Though the term, along with colloquial counterparts "moron" and "imbecile," is rooted in a medical diagnosis based on IQ scores, the word has evolved with a negative connotation and has come to informally mean "a stupid person." Why, then, has psychologist David Dunning written a lengthy article entitled "We Are All Confident Idiots"? In "Confident Idiots," Dunning addresses the phenomenon of overconfidence in uninformed (or rather misinformed, as Dunning puts it) people. Though the article's premise may leave some readers uncomfortable, it approaches a very real issue in a nonthreatening way. Dunning's article is effective because of its language, focus on audience, and concluding points. Dunning uses specific words to make his point clear. His careful word placement starts in the title. Why does he use the word "idiot" when he could have used any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The shock factor. As a psychologist, Dunning knows that most people would take umbrage at being called an idiot; he uses that emotion to pique the reader's interest in the subject matter. Dunning's gamble pays off, and he makes a personal connection with the reader as he goes on. In the sentence, "The problem of unrecognized ignorance is one that visits us all," Dunning uses the word "us" to count himself in the number of ignorant people. His tiny admission humanizes him, and Dunning's self–deprecation inspires a more receptive reader. Dunning uses his psychology background not to lord over the uneducated, "ignorant" masses, but rather to put his misinformed audience at ease and communicate to them that "Hey, you don't know as ... • 3. Analysis Of Green Day By George W. Bush Art is an essential form of protest in a time of crisis or for political or social reforms. George W. Bush is one of the most controversial presidents in history and prompted some of the loudest outcries from the public. The music world became very involved in this particular fight, many artists from multiple generations and genres protested Bush. American Idiot by Green Day is one of the best examples and the most well–known protest of Bush and his administration. However, despite its popularity and acclaim it did receive a lot of criticism. Going against such a powerful and influential person in society, the band subjected themselves to the possibility of censorship by the media and accusations of being unpatriotic. Another uproar was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Green Day felt the "weight of the darkness that covered the country during Bush's first term...They found a voice in an era that was disorienting for many" (D 'Ambrosio, "Green Day Never Gives Up"). Although the album did not stop Bush's re–election, it "was both a harbinger and beneficiary of the Bush administration's plummeting approval, selling steadily through 2005" (Pareles, Jon. "The Morning After 'American Idiot.'"). American Idiot sold 267000 copies in the US and was number 1 on multiple chains, like Billboard's top 100. It received the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2005, Favorite Pop/Rock Album in 2005 at the American Music Awards, Best International Album in 2006 at the BRIT Awards, and won and was nominated for multiple other awards. The awards, critical acclaim, and general popularity amongst the public "shows that a quality record that contains a well–thought–out message can still appeal to a broad market" (Newman, "A Smart Start For Green Day"). Green Day maintains the idea of being punk insurgents, rebellious musicians who push boundaries and more closely align with teenage angst rather than adults. In spite of their reputation, Green Day was criticized by fans of going "sappy," especially in regards "Wake Me Up When September Ends" which was centered around the profound effect the death of his father had on Armstrong. • 4. English Class Reflection Paper I've had the worst luck when it comes to English class. This was a recurring event, particularly in high school. Every year I would dread walking to my English because I already know that it would be horrible. The class itself wasn't horrible, it was just the teacher themselves. I was always shy and my teachers would never help motivate me to be a bit more interactive in class. In my opinion, the way you teach and the way you approach your student is very important because it has such a huge impact on the student's perspective for that material. So I wonder, will this impact my interaction forever or should I choose to not let this experience bother me? In my high school, I've never felt satisfied with my teachers. I feel as if I've never reached my true potential of communicating in class or interacting with the class overall. I attended a very small school that only had two English teachers in the department.Entering this school year as a freshman, I believed that this was my time to shine. I shouldn't be quiet in class anymore as I had to blossom. I came to my school thinking that because it was small, my teacher's would be attentive and motivating. I remember entering her classroom and the first thing she said was, "Hi, you guys won't pass my class. I have high expectations so I expect you guys to WOW me!" My teacher's approach was different when it came to her class. I found it a bit aggressive and questioned why a school would even let this behavior pass through. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On American Idiot How American Idiot impacted our culture September 20, 2004 is when a song named, "American idiot" came out by a band named Green day, impacting our culture by explaining how the youth are being conformists, The song also talks about how the media owns the people, how people are idiots for listening to what is being fed to them, and finally the division of the united states of America over political issues. This song was made to point out how America is with the technology that is connected with the media such as cell phones and television making the media influence to society easier; another point would be how the political issues such as war on terrorism this is being evoked throughout this song, and the final topic being brought up by Green Day is paranoia how America is paranoia after the terrorist attack back in Two thousand and one. • 7. I Was A Last Year Old Girl, Living Inside Myself Essay I was a 12–year–old girl, living inside myself. I hadn't felt a single emotion since I was eight, and they had started fading two years before that. I had been betrayed by someone in my family. Someone that I loved and looked up to. Ever since the betrayal had started, I had started to hate and mistrust people. Especially boys. I had put up a mental shield between me and the rest of the world. No emotions, no trust, no love. Nothing. No one ever picked up on it, though. When my emotions had first started fading, I started paying attention to how other people acted, and got really good at feigning emotions. I had even perfected pretending to cry and laugh. No one ever noticed that I went without them. I never thought I would feel again. One day, in 6th grade, I got an email from a name I had never seen before. Hey. I was just wondering how your day was going? You sounded good at band today. I deleted it, without responding. The next day we had band, I got an email before it, saying, I hope I get to see you at band again today. I was starting to get confused. There was only about four or five people I talked to at band. None of them were boys, though, and it was a boy's name on the email. I thought they had the wrong name. After a few days of emails, I started responding in short messages. After a couple of weeks, I started chatting him on email, but only for short periods of time. I still didn't trust them, and didn't want to let them get too close. One day, while I was ... • 9. Idiot Drivers While driving down the highway many people have noticed different types of drivers. There are the ones that go way too fast, way too slow, listening to music with the volume all of the way up, or the ones that seem fairly responsible. Leading comedian George Carlin ask the question, "Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?" He put a name to two types of drivers; nevertheless, there are more than just idiots or maniacs. In fact, there are four main categories of drivers. In addition to idiots and maniacs, there are defensive drivers and jammers. Everyone has different personalities, and it shows while they are driving. The first driving personality is the idiot drivers, and no they are not idiotic people driving around town. Idiot drivers are those that drive like a grandma, also known as Sunday drivers. This means they always drive well below the speed limit, usually in a no passing zone. Idiot drivers like to take in the details and enjoy the slower pace of life. Typically idiot drivers seem to not care about getting places; however, they really just enjoy the ride and the beauty of the journey. They do not mind when others become upset with them for driving so slow. Idiots really are not idiots, they just have a different vibe about how they live their lives. Chesterton publishes "The Innocence of Father Brown", a book with numerous detective stories that besides entertaining does a great job in describing the culture of England at the beginning of the 20th century. By looking into "The Hammer of God", one of the stories, a reader also gets an insight into the life of a small English community. Mainly focusing on Wilfred Bohun, the protagonist of the story, a limited narrator gives a somewhat biased description of other characters. However, even the least important characters contribute to the realization that the English community from the early 20th century was not much different than other communities of that era. Even though the blacksmith is one of the main characters in the story and a narrator provides us with a lot of information about his personal life, the blacksmith never interacts with his nephew, not even at church. Therefore, Mad Joe does not receive any kind of support a mentally ill person would need from his well–known uncle. Thus, the question arises whether the blacksmith is as decent man as a narrator presents him to be. Furthermore, Mad Joe has a dissolute brother who regularly ridicules and humiliates him. For instance, his brother tries to throw pennies into his open mouth. Given that the family is the smallest unit of the community and that Mad Joe is mistreated by his family members, it is no surprise that the other residents of the village also ridicule him. Even though ridiculed, a character of Mad Joe helps us find out information about the protagonist that a narrator does not give out. Wilfred Bohun, the protagonist, is described as devout. He practices "austere exercises of prayer" for "purification and new thoughts" (Chesterton). Although a reader could sense throughout the text that something is bothering Wilfred even before the murder is solved as he seems nervous and has "livid face" (Chesterton), it is not until Wilfred starts talking about Mad Joe that a reader realizes how bitter he is and how far from a devout Christian he is. • 12. Green Day : An Influential Song Everyone has heard a Green Day song at some point in their life, from their hit "Holiday" to "American Idiot." Green Day has been a popular band that started in the 1990's. Being a punk band in the 90's the artists quickly made an impact by being rebellious and speaking their true thoughts. They focus on the realities of life, rather than a fluffed–up version that may seem too good to be true. In some of their other hits they show how broken and defeated someone may be without ever noticing it. While "Jesus of Suburbia" is not one of their greatest hits, it is an influential song that almost spans ten minutes of a listener's time. Green Days' Jesus of Suburbia affects the punk rock crowd by displaying how desensitized our generation has become and the difficulties that our youth feels that it must go through in order to get by, depicted by repetition and exaggeration. Green Day is known being fairly blunt with their songs. They do not care about who they offend, but more so that they are able to get their point across. Throughout "Jesus of Suburbia," the band focuses on the harsh realities of life. They show how broken and defeated a person can be on the inside without even knowing or showing it. A big portion of this is because social media and the news tends to show more bad material then good, which allows the everyday person to become desensitized to how horrible the things are that they are seeing. Often, however, these benevolent ideas of the way society should be, are muddled and manipulated by the reality of the way society actually is. In his selfless attempts to save his companions from their destructive "evil", Prince Myshkin is in turn transformed and distorted by a superficial and empty society. The title of the book, The Idiot, fits well with Prince Myshkin's attitude towards human nature and also does well to highlight his status as an outcast; however The Idealist is a title that would better suit the Prince's thought process and actions. • 15. The Role of the Holy Fool in the Context of Danish Cinema Introduction In Christian folklore, the holy fool is an archetypal figure that stands apart from society, elevated to a transcendent status based on his or her piety. Holy fools flout social norms, and are thus unable to be properly accommodated in their respective societies. With their position of outsider, holy fools are ideally suited to critique mainstream ideas and practices, acting as a narrative device to provide commentary on the world. Holy fools exist in a separate sphere from "regular" fools due to their associations with Christ figures. Christian tradition speaks of many famous holy fools, from nameless monks who give up all of their worldly possessions to become closer to Jesus, to characters of Biblical renown, such as Saint Paul (Thomas 2009: 204). The depiction of a holy fool is undoubtedly influenced by the religious climate of a society. Traditionally, holy fools have been part of Roman Catholic and Orthodox faiths, where saints have traditionally been revered for their ability to follow God in the most extreme fashion so that they appear foolish to the majority of society that is less in tune with God's wishes. In Denmark, Protestant traditions dominate the religious landscape, so the depiction of the holy fool must be adjusted accordingly. In order to understand the role of the holy fool in the context of Danish cinema, it is first necessary to look at the role of religion in Danish society. • 17. American Idiot Paraphrase Green Day's "American Idiot" is a powerful song which presents to us the bands perspectives on the many issues faced by American society today. The lyrics are carefully written to create a certain impact, in which many useful techniques are employed to draw a certain response from the audience and to aid in getting across the songs key messages or themes. A commonly used technique in song writing, which is clearly utilized in the creation of "American Idiot", is that of repetition. Throughout the song, there are many lines which the band has deliberately repeated, such as "Don't want to be an American Idiot" and "all across the alienation". This technique has been used to emphasize these words and the significant meanings which are attached to them. In the process of winning, he beat some of the biggest names and dynasties in politics. He dismantled the Bush's and then ran in a general vs the Clinton Machine and won. Let's dig deeper. According to my calculations he spent quite a bit less than half the money to win than the Democrats. (This may come in handy with a country that is $21 trillion in debt.) Throughout American Idiot, America is depicted negatively; it is routinely referred to in a negative light and is described as a corrupt entity that seeks to control and oppress people. This is directly related to the other symbols used in the song, as America uses the media to turn people into ignorant "American idiots" that accept complete control. Armstrong refers to America as "the alien nation" to emphasize its controlling features. In the song, America is the "alien" far away source of control that oppresses an ignorant population. Later in the song, Armstrong suggests that he is "the faggot America" and denies being part of a "redneck agenda." This inclusion of American cultural slurs that are typically used to abuse people demonstrate the different ways in which oppression is exercised on the American public. • 27. The Idiot Book Analysis Kurosawa's three hour adaptation of The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, a complicated four–part novel, had to cut out, simplify, and change the original work in order to adapt it to film. However, looking at the specific changes Kurosawa made, specifically towards the end of his film, it is clear that the changes he made weren't merely for the sake of time. Although Kurosawa's modifications might seem random, changes like the bedroom being hot in the book as compared to cold in the movie, eliminating the wedding scene entirely, and most tellingly having Ayako call herself an idiot with the last words of the movie dramatically narrow the argument in the story of The Idiot. While one of the central themes of the original novel was the main character's, Myshkin, Russian Orthodox Christianity, Kurosawa cut it out entirely and instead moved the focus of his movie onto the definition of idiocy. Taken at first glance, the ending to the novel seems more suspenseful, but when examined closer the movie is just as thrilling as the novel. As Myshkin and Rogozhin lie in bedroom beside Nastasya's corpse, the room is sweltering. This clearly uncomfortable situation parallels the unsettling feeling that Dostoevsky desires readers to have with Myshkin comforting Rogozhin. Although this course of action is the natural conclusion to Myshkin's professed Christianity, readers are more likely to extend Nastasya pity and compassion, and refrain from giving it to her murderer. • 28. A Short Story : The Story Of A Prisoner Never in a million years did Hanson believe he would end up standing in front of this brick wall. Prisoner. That was the last thing he wanted to be. He was one and there was no denying that what he did was utterly stupid. He hadn't meant to drive his car off the road and into the McGee family's front garden. They had pressed charges and he had pleaded guilty because it was the right thing to do. While something like this wouldn't have given out prisoner time the way a murder might have, he had personally asked the judge to send him to prison. This had left the McGee family puzzled as to why he would request going to prison. They thought he was a little crazy. It kind of scared them but they knew that staying away from the crazy man was the best thing for them. Although, the McGee son paid Hanson a visit to forgive him for doing what he did. "Hey, Hanson!" Hanson stiffened. He was constantly the target of prison house thugs. He hunched his shoulders and sighed. He raised his hands like he was surrendering as he turned around to face his so–called 'enemies'. The man standing in Hanson's sight line was a beefy, muscled man with tanned and long black hair that was tied back in a tight ponytail. There was a long sickening scar that ran down the right side of his face. "Angus, man! Whatcha doing here? Did ya come to see your ol' pal, Hanny?" A Review of 'an Idiot Abroad' An Idiot Abroad The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington Publisher: Canongate Year: 2011 Number of Pages: 225 Genre: Comedy 'An Idiot Abroad – The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington' is a written accompaniment to the hit television series 'An Idiot Abroad'. The book not only re–tells the TV series, but also sports new, unseen parts from the series and offers a fresh, simple perspective on the 'Seven Wonders of the World'. I think it's reasonable to say that those who find themselves reading this book will have seen the Sky1 series, 'An Idiot Abroad' of which this book accompanies and thus, not much of an introduction to Karl is required. However for the purpose of this review, Karl Pilkington is an English television personality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading the book, it just wasn't funny to me. Karl's writing style however, was very interesting. I really enjoy reading informative writing and Karl certainly delivers in this category. Each chapter gives an in–depth look into everything Karl does. Being a diary the writing style doesn't describe every little detail, but gives enough information and descriptive words to really draw you in. The book also features pictures taken from every trip. There are four points in the book were pictures are placed and each point consists of around 8 pages each. I really liked this as they are not only interesting to look at but fun to compare the image you've built up in your head with the real thing. One other thing about the structure of the book that I didn't like was the way the 'Karl's Facts' parts of the book were put in. Although informing they can sometimes break up the sentences and leave you having to go back to the last page to remember what was happening. The introduction to each chapter however, was very nice to see. It compared quotes from other books and guides on each 'wonder' with Karl's view on it. This was humorous and offered a fresh perspective on the subject. My overall response to the book is that although funny in places, I feel that it really excels in the informative area. It was very interesting and, as I've said many times in this review, fresh. It wasn't sophisticated and to 'smart', if you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mrs. Wheeler says with her back turned to the class, as she writes down math problems on the whiteboard. I groan internally at her directions. I really freaking hope she doesn't call me. Math has always been my worst subject and I still wonder how the hell I made it this far without completely failing. How the hell did I make it to honors? I whisper to him. He was sitting in front of the girl to my left, still sleeping like a peaceful drooling baby. I take my eraser from my backpack and aim it at his face. It hits his chin but he doesn't budge. How the hell does the teacher not hurt his audible snoring? I start throwing more objects – a pencil, a crumpled piece of paper, and my ring. More students are being called on and some are starting to notice and giggle at my antics on waking up sleeping beauty. I grab the thick math textbook and decide to aim for the arm his head is resting on. Hopefully, I'm lucky enough to have better aim. I throw it at him and it, fortunately, hits his arm. His arm falls and his head hits the desk with a loud bang, drawing the attention of all the students and Mrs. Wheeler. "Wha– what happened?" In 1830, Dawson's Landing gained a new citizen by the name of David Wilson. David Wilson had a rather unfortunate encounter on his first day in this new town: He had just made the acquaintance of a group of citizens when an invisible dog began to yelp and snarl and howl and make himself very comprehensively disagreeable, whereupon young Wilson said, much as one who is thinking aloud– "I wish I owned half of that dog." Millions of foreign students come to America for higher education each year. Ironically enough, America public school system is not so glorious. • 33. Summary: An Idiot Abroad When reading over our discussion topic for this week, I immediately thought of a British TV docu series called An Idiot Abroad. Basically, the show follows Karl Pilkington, the writer for The Ricky Gervais Show, who is sent to various parts of the world to experience different cultures. Ricky Gervais and his friend Stephen send him on this journey as a joke, knowing that Karl is uncomfortable with the idea that other cultures do things differently than what he is used to, which is strictly British culture. While watching this show, the viewer can immediately learn the true definition of Ethnocentrism. In the video link I have provided, Ricky and Stephen are about to send Karl to the Great Wall of China, and Karl is less than thrilled to embark on this journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then goes on to talk about some cultural stereotypes that make him nervous including "The way they write; their letters are weird". This whole conversation is a textbook example of what ethnocentrism is all about: judging a different culture because it is different from your own. Him saying that their letters are weird, for example, is extremely ethnocentric in that he only thinks that they are weird because they are different from the English alphabet. He concludes with the most ethnocentric statement of all, "Everything that we have done, that we've gotten right, they're going to do it weirder". He genuinely believes that "we" (as in English speaking cultures) do everything the ideal way, and any other culture simply is messing with our flawless design. This is the pure essence of ethnocentrism, which unfortunately staggering amounts of people possess simply due to comfort in their own home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Persuasive Speech Let's begin from the end. It ends with a group of teenagers thrown into prison for assassination, attempted murder, and treason. And, to be fair, that wasn't an unfair sentencing. We did, technically, try to kill the president. And we did try to overthrow the government. But who could blame us? This entire country had fallen apart, and no one else seemed to be doing anything about it. So, it was us, a group of four kids who decided to take a shot. Literally. We had all been friends for a while, meeting in a the fourth grade. C brought it up, I believe. We were at lunch. Suddenly, they mumbled, "could we kill him?" Most of us were quick to turn it down. We couldn't kill someone, right? That was beneath us. We couldn't do that. But then, John looked between the four of us and asked, "Well, why not? He's awful, right? So, what's stopping us? No one else has the guts to do it." And then it didn't take long for us to agree. Of course we all agreed. It makes sense. The government is flawed. The president is an idiot. We needed to start over. And why shouldn't we be allowed to? So, we developed a plan. There was word of the president coming into the city in a month or so. He was going to offer some long–winded speech and people would stare at him blankly and clap when it felt necessary. The problem was that, once we started to formulate the plan, we all couldn't back down. Obviously, it needed to be done. That idiot needed to be taken down and so did his flock of underlings. So, ... Compare/Contrast Essay Native American traditional stories, folktales, are stories passed down from generation to generation by story telling and performance. Native Americans emphasized the importance of living in harmony with the naturual world. They had complex religious beliefs, sophisticated poltical systems, and strong morals. Some of the stories are creation myths, tales of heroes, and tricksters. Trickster tales are stories that have animals or human characters who engage in deceit, violence, or magic. Coyote from "Coyote and the Buffalo", got out of dieing by offering Buffalo Bull new horns. Buffalo accepted, so it was a win–win situaton for Coyote. In the other tale, Coyote helped find Coyote's wife by decieving the water maidens, and getting information before killing them. This helped regain Fox's wife's love. The coyote in these tales had diiferent mentalities from one another, one being an idiot and one being smart. Another similarity that theses tales have is that they both explain why the world is how it is. For example, in "Coyote and the Buffalo", when Coyote gives Buffalo Bull new horns, they become the horns that all buffalos would have from that point on. Also, when Coyote kills the cow that was given to him by Buffalo as food he decides to go back to Buffalo to ask for another one but the cow that Coyote killed returned from the dead and refused to go with coyote again and Buffalo denies him another one. This explains why there are no buffalo in the Kettle Falls on the Columbia Rive, all because of Coyote. In "Fox and Coyote and Whale", Fox and Coyote go after Fox's wife who was taken by Whale. After Fox and Coyote rescue her, Fox's cuts off Whale's head and tosses it into the ocean. This is why there are no whales in the rivers, and Whale could no longer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
