Essay Changes in Early Modern Europe
Early modern Europe, specifically Spain and England, was going through major growing pains in the
period before discovery and settlement of the New World. Recovery from the Black Plague, religious
reformation, and newly formed nation states were on the forefront of these changes. The political
environment, economy, and religion were all intertwined during the upheaval of the Old World which
proved to be a driving force in the search for and eventual settlement of new lands. The Reformation
and the Counter Reformation were major motivating factors in early modern Europe leading to
exploration of new lands. This began with Martin Luther s break from Catholic doctrine in 1519. By
the time the Reformation came onto the European stage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of all this religious change in England and other nations, they were slower to explore and
colonize the New World. Economic changes occurred partly due to the newly formed nation states of
Spain, Portugal, France, and England. Trade at that time was limited and expensive, so the Europeans
began looking for new trade routes to Asia. What they found was an altogether new place that opened
up many new opportunities for food sources, money, and slave labor. A motivator for exploration was
defined primarily in terms of silver and gold and secondarily in terms of raw materials. Another factor
to consider was the population explosion that came about after the Black Plague wiped out around 30
million Europeans producing economic disruption. Spain was seeking gold to finance further
expeditions abroad and their own war with the Muslims on the home front. Britain was seeking new
trade markets for their wool with the collapse of their wool market at home. Another mitigating
economic factor was the rising prices created by the flood of American silver into the European
market. This caused rates to double on many goods, which benefited the farmers and the merchants,
but the majority of people suffered because their wages did not rise proportionately. This increased the
number of people living on the fringes of society and thus built up pressure to immigrate to the
Americas. Intertwined with

The Last Judgement, By Michelangelo Buonarroti
The art s development is important for all the spheres of societal evolution. Indeed, it often stands at
the beginning of the new era, represents the topics which could be hidden before and appeal to the
relatively new type of human being. Renaissance and Baroque were the historical periods which
correlated with each other and were both contrasting and cooperative in some of the aspects.
Michelangelo Buonarroti was an artist whose influence on further artistic development is undeniable
as he showed how Renaissance changed human mind, its advantages, and drawbacks. Contrastingly,
Andrea Pozzo was depicted how Renaissance led to the creation of another artistic trend in Baroque
by combining some of the methods and adding new stylistic features. ... Show more content on

This work was a result of a long process and it was created after about four years of the author s
efforts. In particular, the work was finished in 1541 (The Last Judgement para. 3). This work is known
as one of the most fundamental masterpieces of Renaissance due to the elaborated structure of the
painting. It is evident how the work is divided into three main parts which are the flying angels, Jesus
and the Virgin Mary among the blessed, and the end of times. This work represents the stylistic
specificities of Renaissance, such as realism, linear perspective, and blue background. Though there
are other elements, these remain the key ones. Realism is shown in every detail because all the
characters are depicted closely to the real humans. The realism of the picture is also supported by its
linear perspective as all the characters are different in size regarding their distance from the viewer.
The blue background is one of the key elements in Renaissance and this work is significant because
this color often deepens the picture. Michelangelo used the special color, ultramarine, which was rare,
it was found only in Afghanistan, and its price was high (para.

Persuasive Essay On Doping In Sports
Doping In Sports Millions of people believe that MLB players serve as role models and idols in their
lives. Although, the use of PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) has left many people wondering
whether MLB players are truly elite. In Major League Baseball today, if an upcoming baseball player
like Mike Trout hit over 50 home runs in a total season, it would leave many fans wondering if he is
on steroids. PEDs, such as steroids, should only be used with proper regulation because using steroids
to enhance performance while one is completely healthy has unknown long term effects. Money
involved in sports are real and the competition is strong. A MLB player that has a good season with
over 30 home runs may get a new contract for millions. On the other hand, he may get hurt, get cut
from the team and is out of the league. Which can cause any player to use PEDs to get better so they
can get back to the league. Also, when a player gets in to the big leagues they realize the competition
is much harder, whether it s better pitching or better hitters, so they take PEDs to get up to a higher
level of play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, steroids helps one heal much faster which is a good thing for someone who needs
to get back quickly. Both men and women might experience severe acne, increased risk of tendinitis or
tendon rupture, liver abnormalities and tumors, low cholesterol and high blood pressure. These are the
main reasons for trying to ban steroids and other forms of doping from professional sports. PEDs may
cause one to lose hair and can cause females to grow facial hair. In males, it can cause breast tissue
development, reduction in sperm, and impotence. In females, it may cause deepening of the voice, and
growth of hair on the face, stomach, and upper

Biomechanical Running Technique
Just like posture and range of motion in the arms, stride length and angle is important for a runner,
specifically running economy which is the energy it takes to achieve a certain velocity. Santos
Concejero and others (2014) conducted a study that concluded athletes may find stride angle useful for
improving RE. I compared the stride length of an expert to a novice, following videos I had watched
online as well as watching experienced and unexperienced runners and tried to have my participant
mimic the form. The story performed by Santos Concejero also stated that biomechanical running
technique characterized by high stride angles and a midfoot/forefoot strike pattern is advantageous for
a better RE (Santos Concejero et al., 2014). In

Essay Psychological Research Report on Perception
ABSTRACT
People are thought to be able to mentally rotate an object so as to be able to imagine it in a different
orientation. In this experiment partcipants were presented with two three dimensional objects. Some of
the pairs of objects where the same object and some of them where different objects. Partcipants were
asked to identify whether the second object was the same as the first one in the pair, even though it
was shown as being rotated around a set angle, or if it was a completely different object. The reaction
time of the partcipant s was found to be directly related to the degree of the angle of which the object
was rotated.
METHODS
Participants
A total of 11 subject participated in this experiment. These participants ... Show more content on

The object was rotated to one of 8 possible degrees in increments of 45 degrees from 0 to 360. The
structure of the experiment was that the participant goes to the website and chooses the experiment.
Then the participant is asked to give informed consent and the experiment begins. The participant is
presented with a pair of shapes and asked to decide whether the shapes are of the same or different
images (whether one can be turned into the other by a rotation). The participant clicks a button to
specify whether the images are the same or different.
RESULTS
The results of this experiment are the mean reaction times that it took the participant to decide whether
the example they where presented with was the same or different object. The means of both of the sets
of data clearly shows that as the angle of the rotation of the object increases the reaction time of the
participant increases. When these means are plotted on a graph they clearly show a linear increase in
reaction time as the angle of rotation increases. This continues until the object has been rotated 180
degrees. The reaction time decreases linearly as the object is rotated more and more. Overall the
reaction time for the pairs that are of different objects (where one cannot be made into the other
through a rotation are higher) however they follow the same pattern as the pairs that are of the same
objects.

The As A Tyrant Who Held A Reign Of Terror
There s always something watching over everyone, seeing the unprincipled and unscrupulous
mistakes, flaws, sins, and immorality. It s easy to try and escape judgment and punishment for one s
sins, but it will all come back to them in due time. Karma is prevalent in numerous religions and
candidly means good actions reap rewards, whereas malevolent actions result in future suffering and
problems. Historically speaking, there have been many cases where unscrupulous actions have come
back to bite. Maximilien de Robespierre became a tyrant who held a reign of terror , guillotining
extravagant amounts of people, many of them being innocent. Ironically enough he was killed via
guillotine. Diane de Poitiers held an affair with King Henry II of France for many years until his
death. Because of that she was sent into exile after Henry s death by his wife, Catherine de Medici.
Some may call these coincidences and whether one believes in karma or not does not matter, as there
are always consequences for one s actions. People can slowly lose themselves once they get caught up
in an aristocratic society filled with money, lust, and glory. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald,
the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg within the Valley of Ashes are symbolic as to how the characters
deteriorate in the wasteland of a society made up of gentry.
The valley of ashes is representative of the destroyed and decayed nobility. The valley of ashes is a
place that at one point was in an at least

M amp;S clothing could also be sold through Sainsbury s stores, providing a powerful boost to the
supermarket s non food business. Last night one City analyst said there was a lot of logic surrounding
the deal and suggested a move could come soon.
He said: M amp;S have a fantastic property portfolio, there would be huge synergies between the two
companies. M amp;S is strong in non food, Sainsbury is strong in food and Sainsbury is desperately
trying to get into non food so a deal is a possibility. It would also help to find a successor to Sir Stuart
Rose.
Despite Rose persuading the City that the company s profits are going to take a hit while the recession
lasts, he has enraged some shareholders by breaching the City s best practice standards with his twin
roles of chairman and chief executive.
City investors and local authority pension funds that hold shares in M amp;S have demanded that the
company appoint an independent chairman or a new chief executive by next summer, and it is now
widely expected that Rose will step down long before the mid 2011 deadline set last year. A potential
tie up between the two has been rumbling ever since Rose let slip at a retail conference in 2007 that
his shareholders would consider him an idiot if he did not think about mounting a takeover, before
adding: Watch this space.

Spc Tate s A Successful Day Of Hard Work Essay
SPC Tate, a medic from Bravo Team, sat in his MRAP patiently waiting to roll out the gate to their
next destination. Upset that on his last week of deployment he was again tasked to go clear buildings.
Agitated at his current position, he was furthermore irritated that the team tasked to replace Alpha

music when he felt the truck start up and begin to roll out the gate. He drifted off to sleep and before
he knew it the convoy had reached it s destination. Every one assumes their positions, stacks the door,
and before you know if they ve cleared two buildings. A successful day of hard work, almost another
day down. He can taste it, one step closer to his goal of finally making it back on U.S. soil. His
euphoric daydream was interrupted with a loud BANG!! He realized that a solider from Alpha Team
has been injured by an IED and he quickly rushes to aid him and drag him into safety. He picks up the
soldier and rushes him back to the MRAP ripping off his vest and cutting off his shirt. SPC Tate
freezes in shock...HE was a SHE!!! So many thoughts ran through his head. How do I care for her ,
what is she doing here , she doesn t belong here , this would have never happened if she was a male .

Advantages Of Virtual Machines
Abstract
This paper refers to the features of Virtual Machines and Virtual Machines Monitors describing the
performance and challenges as well as mechanisms such as fault tolerance, high availability and v
motion. Main theme depicts that modern servers are designed sufficiently powerful to use
virtualization into many smaller virtual machines (VMs), each running a separate operating system
instance [1]. Numerous systems have been designed to get virtualization by utilizing the storage
resources like SAN and processing memory resources Like Servers and network infrastructure to build
a cluster of failover servers [2].

For example, the instruction execution stream of an operating system s idle loop or the code for lock

that the monitor may schedule resources for useless computation while useful computation may be

virtual machine, so it cannot reallocate it to another virtual machine. In general, the monitor must

San Juan Argentina Research Paper
Ever since we where young, most of our parents would remind us to appreciate what we have and that
we should realize how luck we are. I remember all the lectures I would receive from my parents and
my teachers whenever I acted spoiled or selfish. The never failed to mention that I was very lucky and
that I should never take people, technology and my living situation for granted. Until my trip to San
Juan, Argentina, I never fully understood what my parents had meant. That trip really put into
perspective how lucky I was and it taught me how to appreciate the things I had.

We drove to my uncle, Mauricio s house, which was where we were going to be staying. His house
was a lot more like the houses in the U.S., the outside sidewalk was paved, the inside was tiled, the
walls were painted, and there were air conditioners in all of the rooms of the house. Despite its very
put together appearance, it was not exactly the same as the houses in my neighborhood in Florida.
There were wires coming out of holes in the walls and there wasn t any Internet connection except for
in one room. Once I had settled in my cousin s room I took out my charger and looked for an outlet,
upon finding an outlet I noticed that the holes in the outlet where round instead of rectangular. My
cousin noticed my distress and let me borrow her charger that matched the outlet. It took me a while to
get accustomed to how different it was in San Juan. The first week consisted of sweating, useless
phones, and lack of communication with the outside world. All of my electronics where completely
useless and it really threw me of my original daily routine. I had to remember to kiss everyone once
on each cheek when greeting them. At times I would forget to do so and my parents would later scold
me and tell me that I came off as rude or impolite. Then I had to help wash all of our laundry in the
stream and then put it on the clothesline to dry. The first few times I washed my clothes I accidentally
let some get carried away by the stream and I had to chase the clothes down for a couple of blocks. I
had to do the dishes instead of using a dishwasher and on more than one occasion I had dropped a
plate. I also had to wake up for breakfast, then lunch and then find a way to entertain myself without
electronics for three hours until siesta or nap time was over. Siesta, was from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at
this time all businesses would close and take a break, for lunch or just sleep. I always found myself

Later on, many service industries have adopted the philosophy of Lean with the aim of improving
their quality of service, processes, methods and resulting a better customer satisfaction. The study
made revealed that although the Lean Manufacturing was designed and developed for the
manufacturing industries initially, it is now proven that even the service industries could implement
the Lean principles as well, and increasing the customer satisfaction.
In this project, we compare and contrast how lean manufacturing principles and its best practices have
been applied in the Food industry (manufacturing industry) and the Health Care and Hospital systems
(service industry).

Heartbreak Research Paper
Heartbreak can physically and emotionally hurt someone. I believe 100 percent that a broken heart
and emotional pain can negatively affect physical health, says Courtney Nesbitt, L.C.S.W. Research
has shown that when someone has been through a breakup they have similar brain activity as when
they are shown a picture of a loved one. Researchers concluded that rejection, emotional and physical
pain are all processed in the same places of the brain. When both the parasympathetic system (part of
the nervous system) and the sympathetic nervous system are both turned on, you can experience chest
pains and discomfort, says Meghan Laslocky.
There can be some positive effects of heartbreak like strength stems from resilience, which is where

Three peaks are observed in Figure 1 (concentration of glucose vs. elution volume) which was
expected due to the results in table 4 that show intervals of elution. The intervals of the elution are
represented as peaks on the graph. The intervals are due to the glucose molecules that enter the beads
of the column causing the glucose molecules to elute slowly. Two peaks are observed in Figure 2

Guns Are Needed in America
The Constitution of the United States gives the reason why Americans can own guns; A well regulated
Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed (Amendment II). The Second Amendment of the Constitution was ratified on
December 15, 1791 because the Founding Fathers of the United States of America understood that
guns were necessary for hunting, protection, and military involvement. The Founding Fathers
understood that life apart from guns would be virtually impossible. Today, guns are necessary for the
same reasons that they were necessary 225 years ago, but some things must be done to make guns
more safe; in fact, many of the problems that guns are related to, can be solved.
Many Americans believe that guns are no longer necessary and that they create more harm than good.
These people believe that guns should be banned. The banning of guns in America would not stop
crime or even reduce it; instead, that proposal would have a negative effect on crime rates, as well as a
negative effect on many other things in America.
Guns have always existed in America; guns actually existed before the United States of America was
established. According to 2014 statistics, around three hundred million guns are in America, and 31%
of American households own one or more guns (Alpers et al). Banning guns would not only have

Charles Darwin And Evolution Of Humans

Charles Darwin
(Intro)
A man named Charles Darwin forever changed the world, especially within western civilizations. The
idea of how humans and animals came to be was very confusing and there was no set reason of this.
People forever wondered how they came to be on this planet. Many different ideas and theories were
made, but there was no scientific reasoning on exactly the way humans and animals are here. Today,
the theory is still in debate. It is possible that in the future someone may be able to figure it out, but it
is also possible that it will be a mystery forever. One major belief in how humans and animals came to
be was all changed through the theory of Charles Darwin and evolution through natural selection. His
theory states that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor and that natural
selection brings upon evolution. Although it may or may not be the exact reason of how humans and
animals came to be, it gave a huge sense of explanation of one idea that changed western civilization
greatly. Because of his theory, Darwin has changed everyone s thoughts on life, (2nd argument),
biology, religion, and society. FIX LATER WHEN DONE. Darwin can be seen as an individual who
has changed western civilization.
(Background Information) Darwin was born on February 12th 1809. He later passed away 73 years

Cervical Cancer Surgery: What To Expect?
Cervical Cancer Topic Overview
The cervical cancer indicates the growth of abnormal cells on the cervix, which is the lower part of the
uterus that opens into the vagina. Cervical cancer has the ability to invade or spread to other parts of
the body. Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide as it is the fourth
most causes of death from cancer in women. The American Cancer Society estimates that about
12,900 new cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed in 2015 and about 4100 women will die from it.
The cervical cancer can be successfully treated if it s detected early through a Pap test. Here we ll

Hysterectomy: During this type of surgery for treating cervical cancer, the uterus and cervix is
removed.
2. Radical hysterectomy: Usually, this type of surgery is recommended for a very small percentage of
women with early cervical cancer. This procedure involves the removal of the uterus and cervix as
well as the surrounding tissue and the upper part of the vagina. During this procedure, the lymph
nodes in the pelvis are removed. If this surgery is performed on older women then the ovaries are
removed and if it is performed on the younger women, then the ovaries are left behind so as to
preserve the ovarian function.
3. Pelvic extenteration: This type of surgery is an option for women with recurrent or advanced
cervical cancer. During this surgery, the cervix, uterus, vagina, bladder, ovaries, rectum and nearby
lymph nodes are removed. The tissues from elsewhere from the body is used for reconstructing the
vagina. The urine and stool is made to pass into the external bags.
Cervical Cancer survival rates:
The five year survival rate is the percentage of women who survive at least for five years after
detection of cancer. The cervical cancer survival rates for all stages are about 68%. If the cervical
cancer is detected at an early stage, then the five year survival rate is nearly

Descriptive Essay On A Rollercoaster
The 3rd fastest rollercoaster in the world reaches a speed of 120 mph. It s called the Top Thrill
Dragster, and I rode it last summer when we visited Ohio. That one ride taught me that I can do
anything with enough determination. I stared up at the rollercoaster that was as fast as the fastest
cheetah. Ok. I d said the words, now all I had to do was actually ride the rollercoaster. We got in the
neverending line. The sign said it would take at least an hour before we got on the ride. The park had
TVs set up throughout the line, advertising cotton candy, hotdogs, and their app, which puts everyone
on teams that compete each day for points based on how many rides you go on. It also had music
videos, games, trivia, and general information about the park. I could smell funnel cakes and all kinds
of other foods. The line moved slowly, barely moving forward each time the cars went around the
track. The track was short, but loading up the cars took awhile. Every group of people that went on
had to have that quick safety speech. As we got closer to the front, I started sweating. It was already
blazing hot outside, and the sun was burning, but that wasn t why I started sweating. My hands were
sticky with sweat. I was as nervous as a cat. I ve never ridden a ride this fast. By now my mom had
noticed. You sure you want to go on the ride? I thought for a moment. Yes. I was determined to do
this. I was going to ride this rollercoaster. I would ride the third fastest

Charles Dickens Beliefs
Charles Dickens is a well known name, most commonly associated with the classic Christmas novel,
A Christmas Carol. However, there are numerous elements about him not as widely known. For
instance, Dickens view of Christianity were eccentric, and he was passionate about social reform in
his time. Some of his lesser known writings and works attest to this. Regardless of his beliefs, he has
had an enduring impact on the world.
Charles Dickens was a different type of Christian. Contrary to most, he saw no importance in tradition
and scripture. He disliked every form of organized Christianity, especially evangelicalism and Roman
Catholicism. His writing consisted of only the most generic form of Christianity, never specifying
denomination or other. This is because Charles Dickens himself only believed that there was God, as
in a higher authority. He also viewed Jesus as a comforter of the distressed, not as the savior of
mankind. Due to his beliefs, Charles Dickens took it upon himself to write The Life of Our Lord, his
own simplified translation of the Gospels. His beliefs and actions were far from what is considered
Christian today. Though Dickens beliefs may not have been traditional in his time or the modern era of
today, he proved to be morally strong and stood out as a passionate social reformer. Dickens views on
society were established at a young age. Beginning at age 12, Dickens was forced to work at a shoe
blacking factory due to his father s imprisonment in

Facial Recognition Case Study
To streamline friend request process and boost the number of friend requests sent or received, I would
implement a secondary friend request process based photo facial recognition. Assuming that this
technology, derived from a similar algorithm as facial recognition tags in photos, is functional and
highly efficient, it can revive long lost friendships, particularly for older users, facilitate the friend
request process, and ensure that brief acquaintances grow into friendship. However, this technology is
also associated with trade offs as it can be manipulated to violate privacy rights. Still, there are many
precautions available to mitigate this concern. Further, these precautions can be used to gauge interest

Some people may not want anyone to be able to access their profile from a photo. Unfortunately,
people can use this tool to perpetrate harmful activities, such as stalking or molestation. To mitigate
this issue, the default privacy settings will turn this tool off to ensure that it respects the rights of those
people who do not want to share their profile or who do not know of the exist of such a feature. Even
if users choose to switch on the feature, another net of protection can be created by allowing users to
pre approve access to the requester. If someone does not want a certain person to view his or her
profile, he or she can simply decline the request and the requester will never know if their profile
exists. The pre approved requests can also defer potential stalkers because their suspicious activities
will be explicit to the recipient. However, it will not deter normal acquaintances from sending these
requests because they will not send a request unless they expect these recipients to accept the photo

The Aim of Man Essays
Khouanchay (Kay) Krueger
Mr. Matthew Adams
English 150 SB Annotation 4
October 9, 2010
Aristotle The Aim of Man Aristotle starts off in his essay explaining the definitions of Good, Primacy
of Statecraft and the study of Ethics. He defines good as where all things are to be aimed, for example
health. He then defines Statecraft as citizens of a state, a country, and of the world need to do good for
their own good but more importantly for the good of the state. He also characterizes various types of
good. Finally, the definition on study of Ethics. This talks about the pure excellence of justice that
involves the disagreements and agreements of uncertainty and certainty. Aristotle also talks about
happiness and where a certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses the metaphor of a chameleon to illustrate this. We are all different and when you think of a
chameleon, you first think of colors and personalities. In his example as a visual we can say that
people s happiness ranges so far and in between. My response to the topic about the aim of man is that
I agree that we all strive to achieve the very same goal as Aristotle points out; which is happiness. I
think that his essay captures his definition of happiness well by repeating it several times throughout.
This is effective to me because it is a repetitive way to enforce the topic. I agree with Aristotle
especially that one does not know happiness until they can make the discernment. For the same reason
he stated that a child can not be happy. I like his definition to happiness because it isn t just
characterized by good fortunes but it is much deeper in that it derives from the soul with perfect
righteousness. I can identify a strength of the essay is that he doesn t get off the topic often. He
touches about wealth and how that isn t the true source of happiness but quickly closes on the subject
and goes back to the good that we are seeking. Another example where he does this was towards the
end, he briefly talks about sleep is an inactivity of the soul. He clearly dismisses the subject by
pointing out its irrelevance. This makes the essay easier to follow. Another strength that I notice was
he used the

discuss the progress of the library. Within the board there are also committees for building and
grounds, finance, programs and outreach. They are blessed with a Friends of the Library group which
actively participates in planning programs and fundraising. The need to expand funding and space has
recently driven the library to seek other means of funding. They have decided to switch from being an
Association Library to a School District Library, this move will enable the library to set their own
budget and then have the school district collect the tax levy for the library. With more control over

The Hospitality And Tourism Industry
The hospitality and tourism industry plays an essential role in global growth around the world. One of
the biggest key players is an airline industry. An airline industry contains both hospitality and tourism.
One of the key players to this industry is the cabin crew. However, according to Laszlo with recent
economic decline the airline industry is not in good health in terms of operation and customer service
organization said (1999). It is therefore, important to understand that the crews must perform function
as key player in an airline industry by providing various types of customer service, safety and security

As cabin crews are playing a crucial role in the industry, they are to be selected carefully by the
human resources. The desired corporate skills sought for the crews are; a motivation to deliver high
standard customer service, team skills and commercial awareness. In addition to these skills, it is
necessary that an individual is interviewed and upon successful application, and to satisfy all other

than decade by comforting dozens of passengers around the world. The definition of providing
comfort to guests is, to also make a profit but as well as to make customers feel satisfied just like

The Role Of Women In Pompeiian Society
Before uniting the entire Pompeiian society, people first had to come to terms with other individuals
with the same economic standing as themselves. Banquets served as perfect opportunities for
Pompeiians to meet and invoke conversation with people of their same class and status. When
Pompeiians hosted banquets, they would invite people of similar, or the same economic status.
Banquets gave people a chance to discuss news, or any other topic they wished to talk about with
other Pompeiians who they did not see daily. This also served as a way to introduce people to new
ideas and beliefs. Banquets were also opportunities for hosts to flaunt their wealth and luxurious

leadership role, and would perform tasks such as conducting the census, while the aediles would plan
gladiator and animal fights, and had more simple tasks such as overseeing the public baths and
sanitary levels of the streets of Pompeii. These simple roles that were done by the aediles helped
promote unity in Pompeii since they helped people gather in a common area. Since elections were

Argumentative Essay On Legal Aid
Legal rights and protections are meaningless of those in need of the justice system cannot access it.
The myth of a single level playing field, however, ignores that the field is more level for some groups
than for others real world inequities remain for racial and ethnic minorities and implicitly legitimates
hierarchies (Daum Ishiwata, 2010, p.844). Under the constitution the government is obligated to level
the playing field for the historically disadvantaged groups by not abstracting them from their real
world circumstances. Thus creating the need for the government to provide publicly funded legal aid
to address the financial and accessibility obstacles those living in poverty face. Although the right to

However, by establishing legal aid programs, the government engages in substantive equality. As it
recognizes that there are those who have realities involving oppression and disadvantage in society.
These are barriers to which an adverse impact occurs to those living in poverty. The government and
justice system recognizes this and accordingly provides a limited solution in the form of legal aid
programs. For those who are poor, the absence of legal aid is an arbitrary, unreasonable, and
inequitable interference with access to the courts. (Buckley, 2007 p.342). Although legal aid programs
are available and in place, they are not easily accessible and severely limited for those living in
poverty. Provincial legislature makes accessibility difficult and funding constraints limit the types of
legal matters covered by legal aid programs, and the categorization of problems into isolated legal

So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans Summary
There is many controversy about how many mexicans are taking away white people jobs. In the poem
So Mexicans are Taking Jobs from Americans the persona is explaining the idea on how americans are
making mexicans look bad as if they are doing crimes for simply trying to find a stable job to provide
a home and food for their families. They come with the hopes for a better future for themselves and for
their children not to be treated inhumanely. I argue that they are not stealing the jobs from americans
but are only looking for a better way of live for them and their families. Mexicans only take the jobs
that the americans don t want and that is underpaid basically anything that ll help them live day by
day. Some Mexicans come to America to escape the harsh living back in their home country. Although,
Americans have a reason to be angry about mexicans coming into their country it shouldn t be a
reason to make the Mexican people look bad. In the poem it says I hear Mexicans are taking your jobs
away. Do they sneak into town at night, and as you re walking home with a whore, do they mug you, a
knife at your throat, saying, I want your job? . This gives us the idea that the American people are

Research Paper On Tupac Shakur
Tupac Amaru Shakur was a very influential person who overcame many difficulties. Tupac was a
rapper of truth that spoke about the things that go on in the Hood and the unjust police. He was treated
differently because he was black and was even arrested for jaywalking. After he was arrested he was
beaten by the cops who wanted him to learn his place (Joseph 29). This shows how bad Tupac had it
because he was African American. Tupac died an early death at 25 because of a brewing rivalry
between the East and West Coast rappers. Shakur was a person who would stand up for what he
believed in no matter the cost and died fighting for that. He never let anyone win a battle that he was
determined to win and always knew what he was fighting for. His mother was the same, as a loyal
member of the Black Panther Party, a group that protected all African Americans from police brutality.
Tupac was literally born to be a fighter and carried on his mother s legacy. Despite his rough life,
Tupac Shakur became one of the most influential rappers of all time.
Tupac Shakur was born on June 16th, 1971, with the name Lesane Crooks. His name was switched to
Tupac Amaru II almost a year later. He was born in New York and lived primarily in Harlem till he

Chaparral plants are able to regrow very quickly and encroach over the area of the flowers. This is
necessary for the stability of that environment and ensures future success. The flowers from the
flowers are trapped in the soil and are released next time there is a fire. This entire process is called
secondary succession. The Southern California Chaparral is in itself threatened. Fires, overgrazing,
and invasive species have disrupted it over the course of many years and it is now in danger.
According to the WWF, the Southern California Chaparral one of the most endangered ecosystems in
North America (California Chaparral and Woodlands). The Chaparral are often close to residential and
commercial areas and this can be detrimental. Runoff from the residential areas can contaminate the
soil and stop primary production. More land is also revamped and turned into more human

Unfortunately when fires occur, the brush is able to grow back, but the wildlife is adversely
affected.Because of fires and human intervention, there are a few endangered plants and animals.
Some endangered animals include the California Gnatcatcher and Heermann Kangaroo mouse. In
addition, there are a lot of flora that are very rare and only exist in this area. The Gnatcatcher s habitat

The Effects Of Sleep On Sleep Pattern
Everyone knows sleep is important. But what most people don t know is that if you do not have a
healthy sleep pattern, you do not get the proper benefits. Your sleep pattern is your daily rhythms of
sleeping and waking. It is best to try and keep a consistent bedtime and wake up time. Signs that you
are experiencing a disruptive sleep pattern are difficulty falling asleep, frequent awakenings during the
night, and/or waking too early. For example, I know I have a disruptive sleep schedule because I
cannot stay asleep and I wake too early. Falling asleep is easy for me, but I always awaken somewhere
between 1 and 4. Sometimes I can fall back asleep within 10 20 minutes, but other nights I am up for
hours. Because of this more often than not I am awake before my alarm. Impaired sleep can cause a
lot of side effects, which I will explain in the next paragraph. There is an abundance of things that can
impair your sleep, many of which can be easily avoided. For instance, today s society is completely
overrun by technology. Almost everything can be done via computer, smartphone or tablet. Thus, we
are constantly using them. Studies show that the use of technology can significantly impair your
ability to sleep. Experts say you should stop using technology at least 2 hours before bed, yet the
majority of people bring their phones to bed with them. This causes many people to become over
stimulated, causing sleep problems. Other things that can impair your quality of sleep are

They are given meaning in the minds of managers through processes of selective attention and
simplification (Pfeffer and Salancik 1978). Otherwise managers could not possibly cope with the
myriad of trends and events that must be organized, analyzed for patterns, and acted upon. Managers
therefore adopt a customer focused or competitor centered perspective to help simplify their
environment and decide what information is to be gathered and how it is to be screened and
interpreted. Simplification comes at a cost, which is the risk that only a partial and biased picture of
reality is created. A competitor centered perspective leads to a preoccupation with costs and
controllable activities that can be compared directly with corresponding activities of close rivals.
Customer focused approaches have the advantage of examining the full range of competitive choices
in light of the customers needs and perceptions of superiority, but lack an obvious connection to
activities and variables that are controlled by management. Clearly a balance of the two characteristic
perspectives is needed. In practice most businesses tilt in some cases very sharply toward one or the
other. A significant complication in the search for a balanced p erspective is the confusing welter of
overlapping meanings of competitive advantage. Because there is no agreement on what elements to

The Importance Of Water Resources In Africa
Water is one of the vital resources required by every living organism, yet a large percentage of the
earth s people do not have access to an adequate and constant supply of water. In the developing
world, many rural communities are located in water scarce areas, where there is uneven distribution of
hydrological resources and economic and/or political barriers to pipe and distribute water from the

unsanitary conditions where their everyday survival is the main concern. They are exposed to drought,
famine and death as a result of water borne diseases come from unclean water sources and food

more costly and difficult and it has become more wide even in developed countries (Rosegrant et al.,
2002). Climate change and a developing water resource interest for agricultural and urban
development are increasing the pressure on water resources and variability of the hydrological regime.
By the year 2020 between 75 and 250 million people will be exposed to highly increased water stress
in Africa, in some regions of the continent, 50% of yield and agricultural production will become

Persuasive Essay On Tarantulas
Proposal to redefine and allow the shipping of tarantulas, including theraphosid spiders and other
harmless pet arthropods and similar animals used for research in general from section 8.5 (Harmful
Matter General), of the USPS Domestic Mail Manual currently categorized as harmful in section: 601
Mailability, part b .
I d like to propose slight changes or at least some consideration thereof regarding the mailability of
tarantulas in USPS regulations. In short (and upon request I can provide citations, references and
scientific literature supportive that) tarantulas are not harmful, nor medically significant to people. In a
general sense, tarantulas (as per USPS guidelines and biological definition) are initially covered as
mailable under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although a small percentage of pet sales overall, the tarantula hobby as we know it depends on the
ability of the pet trade and our favorite exotic animal dealers to ship animals to us safely and
inexpensively on demand. Those of us participating in arthropod breeding projects, educational
endeavors, and private research rely upon the postal system to ship male and female specimens of rare
species. If there were no means to transport our animals safely and cheaply around the country the
entire infrastructure of the hobby would collapse, bringing down small business owners as well. So, a
part of this proposal to change existing regulations in favor of shipping tarantulas is meant to ensure
that small businesses can continue to operate, educational/research projects can proceed, and captive
breeding of livestock may continue unobstructed as

Assignment On Chronic Pain Loging
Module 13 Discussion 2 Chronic Illness and Disability
Chronic Pain Journal Article
1. This assignment will be completed either in pairs or triads. View The Mystery of Chronic Pain.
Then, go to the American Chronic Pain website. Look at the Communication Tools. Be sure to review
the Pain Log.
a. Discuss your reaction to the video and to the pain scale/log. Consider the following questions:
My reaction to the video is that the most simple and light object can cause pain to a person who is
dealing with chronic pain. It makes a certain area on an individual s body that is in pain, a very
sensitive spot/area. An area on an individual s body that have pain does send signals of the pain to the
brain, and back to the affected area. In my opinion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The research will be done in advance before meeting a client, so that I can be fully aware of his or her
medical condition. I would do my research, by looking at Internet sources, scholarly articles, and
books to become knowledgeable of a client s condition, and what is efficient to assist my client
internally and externally. The research that I will know beforehand will help me to maintain a
professional relationship with my client(s).
3. What did you learn from the Pain Log?
What I have learned from the Pain Log is that it wants to know more about an individual internally
and externally. It is based on a scale of 0 (highest) to 10 (lowest) on what an individual do, and how he
or she feels. The Pain Log is something new to me, and should be in doctor offices, and hospitals.
Even though there is a simple overall pain log of what level of pain currently experiencing; however,
this pain log is different, by including other important questions about an individuals well being.
b. Find a scholarly article that deals with working with people who have chronic pain.
1. Save the article as a pdf. Upload the article in doc

Does Nitric Acid Affect The Synthesis Of Nitroacetanilide
In this experiment, nitric acid and sulfuric acid were mixed to form nitronium ions, hydronium ions,
and hydrogen sulfate ions. The amide on the acetanilide is an electron donating group, an activator,
which means that when an activated electrophile is added to the acetanilide, it will add in the ortho,
para positions. In this case, the activated electrophile is the nitronium ions, which react with the
acetanilide and form an arenium ion. Then, the hydrogen sulfate ions pull off the hydrogen that is
attached to the same carbon as the nitronium ion, allowing the lone pair that is now on the carbon the
hydrogen left from to form a double bond with the electron deficient (positively charged) carbon next
to it. The products formed are the ortho and para substitutions of nitroacetanilide. ... Show more

The crude solid was dissolved in hot ethanol and then, was allowed to cool. As the solution cooled the
solubility of the compounds in the solution drops, which allowed the nitroacetanilide to recrystallize
from the solution. The size of the crystals depends on the rate of cooling; a slower cooling rate leads
to the formation of larger crystals. In order to collect the crude solid and the recrystallized solid,
vacuum filtration was used. Vacuum filtration uses reduced pressure to force the solution and air
through the filter paper, allowing for the solid to

  • 2. Essay Changes in Early Modern Europe Early modern Europe, specifically Spain and England, was going through major growing pains in the period before discovery and settlement of the New World. Recovery from the Black Plague, religious reformation, and newly formed nation states were on the forefront of these changes. The political environment, economy, and religion were all intertwined during the upheaval of the Old World which proved to be a driving force in the search for and eventual settlement of new lands. The Reformation and the Counter Reformation were major motivating factors in early modern Europe leading to exploration of new lands. This began with Martin Luther s break from Catholic doctrine in 1519. By the time the Reformation came onto the European stage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of all this religious change in England and other nations, they were slower to explore and colonize the New World. Economic changes occurred partly due to the newly formed nation states of Spain, Portugal, France, and England. Trade at that time was limited and expensive, so the Europeans began looking for new trade routes to Asia. What they found was an altogether new place that opened up many new opportunities for food sources, money, and slave labor. A motivator for exploration was defined primarily in terms of silver and gold and secondarily in terms of raw materials. Another factor to consider was the population explosion that came about after the Black Plague wiped out around 30 million Europeans producing economic disruption. Spain was seeking gold to finance further expeditions abroad and their own war with the Muslims on the home front. Britain was seeking new trade markets for their wool with the collapse of their wool market at home. Another mitigating economic factor was the rising prices created by the flood of American silver into the European market. This caused rates to double on many goods, which benefited the farmers and the merchants, but the majority of people suffered because their wages did not rise proportionately. This increased the number of people living on the fringes of society and thus built up pressure to immigrate to the Americas. Intertwined with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Last Judgement, By Michelangelo Buonarroti The art s development is important for all the spheres of societal evolution. Indeed, it often stands at the beginning of the new era, represents the topics which could be hidden before and appeal to the relatively new type of human being. Renaissance and Baroque were the historical periods which correlated with each other and were both contrasting and cooperative in some of the aspects. Michelangelo Buonarroti was an artist whose influence on further artistic development is undeniable as he showed how Renaissance changed human mind, its advantages, and drawbacks. Contrastingly, Andrea Pozzo was depicted how Renaissance led to the creation of another artistic trend in Baroque by combining some of the methods and adding new stylistic features. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This work was a result of a long process and it was created after about four years of the author s efforts. In particular, the work was finished in 1541 (The Last Judgement para. 3). This work is known as one of the most fundamental masterpieces of Renaissance due to the elaborated structure of the painting. It is evident how the work is divided into three main parts which are the flying angels, Jesus and the Virgin Mary among the blessed, and the end of times. This work represents the stylistic specificities of Renaissance, such as realism, linear perspective, and blue background. Though there are other elements, these remain the key ones. Realism is shown in every detail because all the characters are depicted closely to the real humans. The realism of the picture is also supported by its linear perspective as all the characters are different in size regarding their distance from the viewer. The blue background is one of the key elements in Renaissance and this work is significant because this color often deepens the picture. Michelangelo used the special color, ultramarine, which was rare, it was found only in Afghanistan, and its price was high (para. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Doping In Sports Doping In Sports Millions of people believe that MLB players serve as role models and idols in their lives. Although, the use of PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) has left many people wondering whether MLB players are truly elite. In Major League Baseball today, if an upcoming baseball player like Mike Trout hit over 50 home runs in a total season, it would leave many fans wondering if he is on steroids. PEDs, such as steroids, should only be used with proper regulation because using steroids to enhance performance while one is completely healthy has unknown long term effects. Money involved in sports are real and the competition is strong. A MLB player that has a good season with over 30 home runs may get a new contract for millions. On the other hand, he may get hurt, get cut from the team and is out of the league. Which can cause any player to use PEDs to get better so they can get back to the league. Also, when a player gets in to the big leagues they realize the competition is much harder, whether it s better pitching or better hitters, so they take PEDs to get up to a higher level of play. ... Biomechanical Running Technique Just like posture and range of motion in the arms, stride length and angle is important for a runner, specifically running economy which is the energy it takes to achieve a certain velocity. Santos Concejero and others (2014) conducted a study that concluded athletes may find stride angle useful for improving RE. I compared the stride length of an expert to a novice, following videos I had watched online as well as watching experienced and unexperienced runners and tried to have my participant mimic the form. • 6. Essay Psychological Research Report on Perception ABSTRACT People are thought to be able to mentally rotate an object so as to be able to imagine it in a different orientation. In this experiment partcipants were presented with two three dimensional objects. Some of the pairs of objects where the same object and some of them where different objects. Partcipants were asked to identify whether the second object was the same as the first one in the pair, even though it was shown as being rotated around a set angle, or if it was a completely different object. The reaction time of the partcipant s was found to be directly related to the degree of the angle of which the object was rotated. METHODS Participants A total of 11 subject participated in this experiment. These participants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The object was rotated to one of 8 possible degrees in increments of 45 degrees from 0 to 360. The structure of the experiment was that the participant goes to the website and chooses the experiment. Then the participant is asked to give informed consent and the experiment begins. The participant is presented with a pair of shapes and asked to decide whether the shapes are of the same or different images (whether one can be turned into the other by a rotation). The participant clicks a button to specify whether the images are the same or different. RESULTS The results of this experiment are the mean reaction times that it took the participant to decide whether the example they where presented with was the same or different object. The means of both of the sets of data clearly shows that as the angle of the rotation of the object increases the reaction time of the participant increases. When these means are plotted on a graph they clearly show a linear increase in reaction time as the angle of rotation increases. This continues until the object has been rotated 180 degrees. The reaction time decreases linearly as the object is rotated more and more. Overall the reaction time for the pairs that are of different objects (where one cannot be made into the other through a rotation are higher) however they follow the same pattern as the pairs that are of the same objects. • 7. The As A Tyrant Who Held A Reign Of Terror There s always something watching over everyone, seeing the unprincipled and unscrupulous mistakes, flaws, sins, and immorality. It s easy to try and escape judgment and punishment for one s sins, but it will all come back to them in due time. Karma is prevalent in numerous religions and candidly means good actions reap rewards, whereas malevolent actions result in future suffering and problems. Historically speaking, there have been many cases where unscrupulous actions have come back to bite. Maximilien de Robespierre became a tyrant who held a reign of terror , guillotining extravagant amounts of people, many of them being innocent. Ironically enough he was killed via guillotine. Diane de Poitiers held an affair with King Henry II of France for many years until his death. Because of that she was sent into exile after Henry s death by his wife, Catherine de Medici. Some may call these coincidences and whether one believes in karma or not does not matter, as there are always consequences for one s actions. People can slowly lose themselves once they get caught up in an aristocratic society filled with money, lust, and glory. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the eyes of Dr. T.J. Thomas Parsons Mrs. Anderson Composition English 101 12/5/16 Guns Are Needed in America The Constitution of the United States gives the reason why Americans can own guns; A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (Amendment II). The Second Amendment of the Constitution was ratified on December 15, 1791 because the Founding Fathers of the United States of America understood that guns were necessary for hunting, protection, and military involvement. The Founding Fathers understood that life apart from guns would be virtually impossible. Today, guns are necessary for the same reasons that they were necessary 225 years ago, but some things must be done to make guns more safe; in fact, many of the problems that guns are related to, can be solved. Many Americans believe that guns are no longer necessary and that they create more harm than good. These people believe that guns should be banned. The banning of guns in America would not stop crime or even reduce it; instead, that proposal would have a negative effect on crime rates, as well as a negative effect on many other things in America. Guns have always existed in America; guns actually existed before the United States of America was established. According to 2014 statistics, around three hundred million guns are in America, and 31% of American households own one or more guns (Alpers et al). Banning guns would not only have ... Charles Darwin And Evolution Of Humans Tiger Sikka Mr. Pimentel WCIV H May 4th 2015 Charles Darwin (Intro) A man named Charles Darwin forever changed the world, especially within western civilizations. The idea of how humans and animals came to be was very confusing and there was no set reason of this. People forever wondered how they came to be on this planet. Many different ideas and theories were made, but there was no scientific reasoning on exactly the way humans and animals are here. Today, the theory is still in debate. It is possible that in the future someone may be able to figure it out, but it is also possible that it will be a mystery forever. One major belief in how humans and animals came to be was all changed through the theory of Charles Darwin and evolution through natural selection. His theory states that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor and that natural selection brings upon evolution. Although it may or may not be the exact reason of how humans and animals came to be, it gave a huge sense of explanation of one idea that changed western civilization greatly. Because of his theory, Darwin has changed everyone s thoughts on life, (2nd argument), biology, religion, and society. FIX LATER WHEN DONE. It s called the Top Thrill Dragster, and I rode it last summer when we visited Ohio. That one ride taught me that I can do anything with enough determination. I stared up at the rollercoaster that was as fast as the fastest cheetah. Ok. I d said the words, now all I had to do was actually ride the rollercoaster. We got in the neverending line. The sign said it would take at least an hour before we got on the ride. The park had TVs set up throughout the line, advertising cotton candy, hotdogs, and their app, which puts everyone on teams that compete each day for points based on how many rides you go on. It also had music videos, games, trivia, and general information about the park. I could smell funnel cakes and all kinds of other foods. The line moved slowly, barely moving forward each time the cars went around the track. The track was short, but loading up the cars took awhile. Every group of people that went on had to have that quick safety speech. As we got closer to the front, I started sweating. It was already blazing hot outside, and the sun was burning, but that wasn t why I started sweating. My hands were sticky with sweat. I was as nervous as a cat. I ve never ridden a ride this fast. However, there are numerous elements about him not as widely known. For instance, Dickens view of Christianity were eccentric, and he was passionate about social reform in his time. Some of his lesser known writings and works attest to this. Regardless of his beliefs, he has had an enduring impact on the world. Charles Dickens was a different type of Christian. Contrary to most, he saw no importance in tradition and scripture. He disliked every form of organized Christianity, especially evangelicalism and Roman Catholicism. His writing consisted of only the most generic form of Christianity, never specifying denomination or other. This is because Charles Dickens himself only believed that there was God, as in a higher authority. He also viewed Jesus as a comforter of the distressed, not as the savior of mankind. Due to his beliefs, Charles Dickens took it upon himself to write The Life of Our Lord, his own simplified translation of the Gospels. His beliefs and actions were far from what is considered Christian today. Though Dickens beliefs may not have been traditional in his time or the modern era of today, he proved to be morally strong and stood out as a passionate social reformer. Dickens views on society were established at a young age. Beginning at age 12, Dickens was forced to work at a shoe blacking factory due to his father s imprisonment in ... The Aim of Man Essays Khouanchay (Kay) Krueger Mr. Matthew Adams English 150 SB Annotation 4 October 9, 2010 Aristotle The Aim of Man Aristotle starts off in his essay explaining the definitions of Good, Primacy of Statecraft and the study of Ethics. He defines good as where all things are to be aimed, for example health. He then defines Statecraft as citizens of a state, a country, and of the world need to do good for their own good but more importantly for the good of the state. In his example as a visual we can say that people s happiness ranges so far and in between. My response to the topic about the aim of man is that I agree that we all strive to achieve the very same goal as Aristotle points out; which is happiness. I think that his essay captures his definition of happiness well by repeating it several times throughout. This is effective to me because it is a repetitive way to enforce the topic. I agree with Aristotle especially that one does not know happiness until they can make the discernment. For the same reason he stated that a child can not be happy. I like his definition to happiness because it isn t just characterized by good fortunes but it is much deeper in that it derives from the soul with perfect righteousness. I can identify a strength of the essay is that he doesn t get off the topic often. He touches about wealth and how that isn t the true source of happiness but quickly closes on the subject and goes back to the good that we are seeking. Another example where he does this was towards the end, he briefly talks about sleep is an inactivity of the soul. He clearly dismisses the subject by pointing out its irrelevance. This makes the essay easier to follow. Another strength that I notice was he used the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The myth of a single level playing field, however, ignores that the field is more level for some groups than for others real world inequities remain for racial and ethnic minorities and implicitly legitimates hierarchies (Daum Ishiwata, 2010, p.844). Signs that you are experiencing a disruptive sleep pattern are difficulty falling asleep, frequent awakenings during the night, and/or waking too early. For example, I know I have a disruptive sleep schedule because I cannot stay asleep and I wake too early. Falling asleep is easy for me, but I always awaken somewhere between 1 and 4. The Importance Of Water Resources In Africa Water is one of the vital resources required by every living organism, yet a large percentage of the earth s people do not have access to an adequate and constant supply of water. In the developing world, many rural communities are located in water scarce areas, where there is uneven distribution of hydrological resources and economic and/or political barriers to pipe and distribute water from the ground or surface (UN, 2014). People living in developing and under developed countries live with unsanitary conditions where their everyday survival is the main concern. So, a part of this proposal to change existing regulations in favor of shipping tarantulas is meant to ensure that small businesses can continue to operate, educational/research projects can proceed, and captive breeding of livestock may continue unobstructed as ... • 46. Does Nitric Acid Affect The Synthesis Of Nitroacetanilide In this experiment, nitric acid and sulfuric acid were mixed to form nitronium ions, hydronium ions, and hydrogen sulfate ions. The amide on the acetanilide is an electron donating group, an activator, which means that when an activated electrophile is added to the acetanilide, it will add in the ortho, para positions. In this case, the activated electrophile is the nitronium ions, which react with the acetanilide and form an arenium ion. Then, the hydrogen sulfate ions pull off the hydrogen that is attached to the same carbon as the nitronium ion, allowing the lone pair that is now on the carbon the hydrogen left from to form a double bond with the electron deficient (positively charged) carbon next to it. The products formed are the ortho and para substitutions of nitroacetanilide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The crude solid was dissolved in hot ethanol and then, was allowed to cool. As the solution cooled the solubility of the compounds in the solution drops, which allowed the nitroacetanilide to recrystallize from the solution. The size of the crystals depends on the rate of cooling; a slower cooling rate leads to the formation of larger crystals. In order to collect the crude solid and the recrystallized solid, vacuum filtration was used. Vacuum filtration uses reduced pressure to force the solution and air through the filter paper, allowing for the solid to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
