Social Bookmarking and Wikis
Social Bookmarking and Wikis This year I have learned how to use Social Bookmarking in ICT. Social bookmarking can help us become more organised because it sorts out all our bookmarks with tags and in one website, for example Delicious, so we can find it more easily and faster. I think Wikis help us communicate with each other easier, much easier than emails. For example, if you want to send information to others you can type it into your wiki and then people can see the information that you want to send. It is very convenient and easy to use.
RSS
RSS This year I have learned what RSS is and what they are used for. RSS is an application where the information comes to you instead of you looking for it. You must subscribe to get the information from a particular website. I think RSS is an extremely useful application to use because instead of you looking for information on search engines, you subscribe to a particular website or blog and the information comes to you automatically when someone updates the website/blog. It saves a lot of time and is more updated than other sites.
Good Person Wiki
Good Person Wiki I enjoyed the Good Person Wiki project very much because there was a lot of communication in our group and everyone worked as a team to complete this task. The good person that we chose to research about was Florence Nightingale. The skills we used in this project was Social Bookmarking, hyperlinking to other websites, researching for information and Google Docs. During this project I also learned more about Florence Nightingale, how she lived and the great things that she did.
Macromedia Fireworks Projects
Macromedia Fireworks Projects This project was split into three sections: the blue project, the pink project and the yellow project. For the blue project I made a banner for the class’ ICT homepage. For the pink project I made a self portrait and for the yellow project I made a banner for the school homepage. We used the Atomic Learning Videos to guide us and remind us of the skills we have learnt. I quite enjoyed this project because it was fun and interesting to do. I managed to complete all the projects in time. I found the Atomic Learning videos very useful because whenever I am stuck or when I forgot how to use a particular skill, I can always go back to the videos and remind myself how to do that skill.
Audacity – 30 Second Ad
Audacity I enjoyed this project the most out of all the projects this year because I thought audio editing was very interesting and fun to do and I liked experimenting with soundtracks and sound effects very much. For this project I worked with Moeko and we chose to advertise “Winter Choco Pocky”, a kind of snack. We used sound effects and soundtracks that we downloaded from a royalty-free website. We used skills such as cutting and pasting audio, making the audio fade in and out, splitting audio, silencing bits of the audio and changing and controlling the volume etc.
Overall I enjoyed all the projects that we covered this year in ICT and I think I would find them useful in other subjects. I have learned a lot of helpful skills that would assist me in further ICT lessons throughout my school years. By Priscilla
