3. Key Ideas
• Humanism is an idea that surfaced around the
60’s
• It focuses on human freedom, dignity and
potential
• The primary purpose is to emphasis the
development of self-actualized, autonomous
people
4. The Teacher on Humanism
• The teacher usually teachers certain core
principles that revolve around giving students
that tools to help better understand themselves
and their futures
• They also teach more real world scenarios that
have influenced the lives and freedom of other
people, as to reinforce positive community
5. The Student on Humanism
• The students learn to be individuals and self-
actualized; or better prepared for future events
• They are taught real world scenarios to better
help prepare them for when these scenarios
actually emerge
• The student is given an identity that is
completely his own to change and bend with at
his will
6. My Thoughts
• I believe this theory will become the new norm
for the teaching profession. Teaching what a
student should know is completely subjective,
where giving the students the tools to succeed on
their own is much more objectively based and is
geared more towards critical thinking than
memorization and testing.
