Linking Competitive Strategies with Human Resource Information System: A Comp...Samsul Alam
Understanding how human resource information system (HRIS) is linked with competitive strategies (CSs) has become an important research topic in the field of strategic human resource management (SHRM) and information systems (IS). This study intends to find a relationship between HRIS and CSs and the resulting competitive advantages gained from the relationship that impact the organization's overall performance. A semi-structured questionnaire survey based on the face-to-face interview method was conducted among human resource (HR) executives of the selected Bangladeshi business organizations to collect data and find results. The result shows that HRIS implementation has a significant influence on CSs. Again, HRIS contributes to leveraging benefits from these strategies. The statistical findings reveal that HRIS pay-off (36%) is positively correlated (37%) with CSs to a lower-medium extent, but this correlation insignificantly affects business performance in this horizon. Finally, a framework is developed showing how to leverage HRIS pay-off based on findings and literature.

Strategic human resource management technology effect and implication for dis...IJECEIAES
Strategic human resource management involves a future-oriented process of developing and implementing HR programs that address and solve business problems and directly contribute to major long-term business objectives. HR management has changed dramatically in recent decades. It was once largely an administrative function focused on day-to-day responsibilities such as employee recruiting and selection and managing employee benefits. Changing labor market conditions and new business thinking call for HR business strategies that include recruiting and retaining the right people, as well as providing ethical and cultural leadership[1].This paper discusses the following issues : The importance of human resource activity , The importance of strategic human resource planning, The changing role of human resource management and nature of work and non government organizations , Technology effect on human resource management and implications for distance training and learning .A field study was conducted to know the attitude of one hundred and five Saudi employees towards the effect of distance learning and training on human resource management and development
Implications Of Human Resource Variables On Supply Chain Performance And Comp...CSCJournals
This paper proposes a conceptual model indicating the effect of Human Resource (HR) variables on supply chain (SC) performance and to suggest best approach suited for Indian manufacturing organizations, in general, and automotive industries, in particular. This study is a part of a larger research project exploring SC related practices. The methodology of critical evaluation involved literature review of empirical research articles on performance measurement, SCM and HR practices. A critical analysis is carried out so as to identify research gaps in content of effect of HR on performance measurement of supply chains, as well as to propose directions for future research. A conceptual model is also proposed. Critical investigation of selected articles led to an idea that there can be significant effect of the role of human involvement on overall SC Performance. It is to be seen that how various parameters, taken from the literature review, affect SC performance and ultimately contributing to its competitiveness. The study is limited to supply chains of the automotive industries and their ancillaries located in Malwa region of M.P., India. Further research can be carried out by using data of various supply chains located in other parts of India to generalize the research. Also, other sectors and industries can be included.

Effects of Human Resource Management Practices on Financial Performance of Se...iosrjce
Human resources are the source of achieving competitive advantage because of its capability to
convert the other resources (money, machine, methods and material) in to output (product/service). The
competitor can imitate other resources like technology and capital but the human resource are unique. People
are one of the most important factors providing flexibility and adaptability to organizations. People (managers),
not the firm, are the adaptive mechanism in determining how the firm will respond to the competitive
environment. This study was guided by resource based theory. The study applied descriptive research design. In
this design, the researcher does not manipulate the variables under study but instead, examines the variables in
their existing condition. The study targeted middle level managers in selected agricultural firms in the sugar
industry. In total the sample size will comprise of 134 respondents. The main research instruments that were
used in this study were questionnaires. Data analysis involved both descriptive and inferential statistics using
SPSS (Statistical Packages for Social Sciences) Computer package. Qualitative data was analyzed thematically.
Correlation was used to analyze the degree of relationship between the variables in the study. The coefficient of
correlation (r), determine the degree (strength) of relationship and its value is between -1 and 1. Regression was
used to obtain an equation which describes the dependent variable in terms of the independent variable based
on the regression model, (regression is used to determine the type of relationship). Further, factor analysis was
undertaken in order to obtain a detailed perceptual and attitudinal aspects of the data. Data was presented in
the form of frequency distribution tables, graphs and pie charts that will facilitate description and explanation
of the study findings. The findings showed the correlation between Human Resource Management practices and
financial performance of selected agricultural firms in the sugar industry.

Rural Livelihood and Food Security: Insights from Srilanka Tapu of Sunsari Di...journal ijrtem
Food security is the foremost need of every human society. It is a fundamental right and
government responsibility but still food insecurity is prevalent in rural areas of least developed nations. To cope
with food insecurity, undertaking diverse income generating activities is common as well as key strategy adopted
by rural people. The objective of this study is to assess rural livelihood and food security status of a remote island
named Srilanka Tapu of Sunsari district. A random sampling technique was used to collect primary data from 40
rural household heads using semi-structured questionnaire. Descriptive methods were used for analyzing. The
findings revealed that the food security situation of the Tapu is insecure. Most basic infrastructures and social
services needed for people livelihood such as road, electricity sufficient food availability, education, healthcare,
sanitation, etc. were found to be extremely poor. Most of the households are small scale farmers involving
themselves in diverse livelihood activities which are mostly temporary, low-skilled and low paying. However,
people are fulfilling their food needs at every cost but are highly vulnerable to food insecurity. Also, their lives
security is equally vulnerable because of disastrous Koshi River flooding which occurs every year in the Tapu.
The findings therefore critically suggest that food security of remote and vulnerable human settlements should be
at top priority in policy formulation and implementation level. The study also recommends a need for an in-depth
research for making evidence based policy interventions for improvement of diversify rural livelihood along with
sustainable environment
Augmented Tourism: Definitions and Design Principlesjournal ijrtem
After designing and implementing several iterations of implantations of augmented reality(AR) in
tourism, this paper takes a deep look into design principles and implementation strategies of using AR at
destination tourism settings. The study looks to define augmented tourism from past implementations as well as
several cases uses designed and implemented for tourism. The discussion leads to formation of frameworks and
best practices for AR as well as virtual reality(VR) to be used in tourism settings. Some main affordances include
guest autonomy, customized experiences, visitor data collection and increased electronic word-of-mouth
generation for promotion purposes. Some challenges found include the need for high levels of technology
infrastructure, low adoption rates or ‘buy-in’ rates, high levels of calibration and customization, and the need for
maintenance and support services. Some suggestions are given as to how to leverage the affordances and meet
the challenges to implementing AR for tourism
A study on financial aspect of supply chain management journal ijrtem
The more common approaches used in the SCM consider only the physical logistic operations
and ignore the financial aspects of the supply chain. The main objective to incorporate financial aspects in
supply chain management is to strengthen managerial decisions concerning financial flows in supply chains,
while empirical knowledge about financial supply chain management (FSCM) is in its early stages. This paper
presents a model for FSCM which financial planning in addition to operation planning is decided in it. The
main contribution of this paper is to define two approaches for Financial Supply Chain Management and to
compare them. This financial approaches are: Traditional financial approach and new financial approach.
Traditional financial approach integrates physical goods flows and financial flows. New financial approach
considers in making decisions other financial indicators such as market to book value, liquidity ratios, capital
structure ratios, and return on equity, sales margin, turnover ratios and stock security ratios, among others.
Moreover, the new approach applies the change in equity instead of the traditional approach measures of profit
as the objective function to be maximized in the presented model. To show the attributes of the presented
approaches, the results of the new approach and the traditional approach is compared. The findings indicate
that the traditional approach leads to lower change in equity compared to the financial approach. Also, the
results clearly reveal the better improvement of using the new approach over the traditional approach, and
convince the decision makers to take advantage of the new approach
Existence results for fractional q-differential equations with integral and m...journal ijrtem
This paper concerns a new kind of fractional q-differential equation of arbitrary order by
combining a multi-point boundary condition with an integral boundary condition. By solving the equation which
is equivalent to the problem we are going to investigate, the Green’s functions are obtained. By defining a
continuous operator on a Banach space and taking advantage of the cone theory and some fixed-point theorems,
the existence of multiple positive solutions for the BVPs is proved based on some properties of Green’s functions
and under the circumstance that the continuous functions f satisfy certain hypothesis. Finally, examples are
provided to illustrate the results.

Technical expertise on the cause of engine failure of the Mitsubishi Pajero S...journal ijrtem
The article concerns the case of the damage to the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport engine and the
methodology a technical expert applied to identify a direct cause of failure. The engine failure occurred while a
vehicle was being repaired to eliminate air conditioning malfunction and engine overheating. When repairing, it
was necessary to replace a cylinder head and the pistons were checked removing the pully from a crank shaft.
After the repair had been completed and after 16-day vehicle operation, engine timing belts got damaged. To
eliminate this malfunction, damaged belts were replaced. Thirty (30) days after the vehicle had been put into
operation, emergency engine failure occurred, and a technical expert was called upon to assess the quality of the
repairs having been performed. The article describes the procedures and methodology a technical expert applied.
In the conclusion, the findings are stated. To determine the cause, a vehicle was on the car service station
premises, where a technical expert was present and according to his instructions, diagnostic and subsequent
disassembly works have been done. The procedure of evaluating the key characteristics on individual parts, their
display, and the resulting evaluation are described.
Clustering based Time Slot Assignment Protocol for Improving Performance in U...journal ijrtem
Recently, numerous approaches have been proposed for designing medium access control (MAC)
in underwater acoustic networks (UANs). Some of those works tried to adapt MAC protocols proposed for
terrestrial networks. However, unique environmental characteristics of UANs make the MAC protocols hard to be
used in the UANs and degrade network performance. In order to improve network performance, COD-TS MAC
protocol was proposed. COD-TS focuses on both single hop and multi-hop mode and utilizes CDMA for
exchanging schedule information between cluster heads. COD-TS has shortcomings such as collisions, additional
energy consumption by exchanging schedule information and near-far effect of CDMA. To overcome above
shortcomings, we propose a clustering-based time slot assignment protocol. In the proposed protocol, nodes are
clustered, and each cluster head performs two-hop neighbor cluster discovery operation. And then, a cluster head
obtains its own relative position information. Finally, the cluster head assigns its own time slot for data
transmission based on the information. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol has always better
performance compared to the COD-TS.

Assessment of the Water Quality of Lake Sidi Boughaba (Ramsar Site 1980) Keni...journal ijrtem
Sidi Boughaba Lake, part of a wetland complex of Morocco (Ramsar site in 1980) is located on
the Atlantic coast of northwestern Morocco, oriented NNE - SSW and located in an interdunal depression. The
existence of this body of water is due to the fact that the topographic surface is at a lower cost than that of the
piezometric surface of the coastal water table, rainwater and runoff water. The objective of this study is to
determine the physical and chemical characteristics of the waters of this lake. Thus, several water samples were
taken monthly in the period 2016-2017. Parameters such as: temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC),
chloride (Cl-
), turbidity (NTU), calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+). The results obtained show that the
distribution of the analyzed elements in Lake waters is quite variable between seasons, as well as between stations.
However, the analysis showed that the studied waters are very mineralized, with an EC between 7 g/l and 14.8
g/l. This mineralization is essentially evaporitic and is controlled by various processes, such as evaporation and
marine influence by aerosol.
The case of a cyclist and tractor traffic accident journal ijrtem
When assessing the cause of a traffic accident, it is also necessary for the technical expert to
take into account the real influences that affect individual participants. This is especially important for accidents
in which one of the participants is cyclist. Technical expert must consider all the circumstances necessary to
assess the cyclist´s behavior. Negligible is not even the age of a cyclist, since in the case of a child or an old man
the driver overtaking bicycle should take this into consideration. The article deals with case of traffic accident
between tractor with the trailer and a bicycle which was riding by cyclist at the age of 80. Apart from the described
procedure by expert in the calculations, the influences on participants' behavior are also discussed
: This paper is aimed at designing a density based dynamic traffic signal system where the timing
of signal will change automatically on sensing the traffic density at any junction using the IoT technology. Traffic
congestion is a severe problem in most cities across the world and therefore it is time to shift more manual mode
or fixed timer mode to an automated system with decision making capabilities. To optimize this problem, we have
made a framework for an intelligent traffic control system. Sometimes higher traffic density at one side of the
junction demands longer green time as compared to standard allotted time. We therefore propose here a
mechanism in which the time period of green light and red light is assigned on the basis of the density of the
traffic present at the time. This is achieved by using LIDAR sensors.
Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

Background: This study aims to determine the impact of human resource management (HRM) practices on supply chain
management (SCM) in garment manufacturing firms.
Methods: This study found that garment manufacturing firms perform moderate level of HRM which have an impact on
Supply chain Management (SCM).There is a correlation between HRM practices that proactively contributes in supply
chain success. Training, an important HRM practise contributes greater to SCM success.
A two way approach was followed to collect Data which was from research papers and garment manufacturing firms.
A Questionnaire was prepared which was filled by middle level managers of garment industry in order to know their
perception as well as to understand the existing HRM practices which have or can have an impact on SCM.
Keywords: Human resource management, supply chain management, organization structure, competitive advantage,
SME.
1. Human Resource Management
Human resources management (HRM) is a function in organizations designed to maximize employee performance in
service of their employer’s strategic objectives. HRM is primarily concerned with how people are managed within organizations,
focusing on policies and systems. Human Resource (HR) departments are typically responsible for
employee recruitment, training and development, performance appraisal, and rewarding (e.g., managing pay and benefit
systems).HR is also concerned with industrial relations, that is, the balancing of organizational practices with regulations arising
from collective bargaining and governmental laws. It is not difficult to formulate objectives for an organization but to establish and
to personally ensure that these objectives are realistic. Mathis, R, Nica P, Rusu C (1997),Naisbitt and P. Aberdene (1985) states
"human capital has replaced dollar capital as a strategic resource”.
Mittar (2014) stated that “Human Resource Management (HRM) is an art of managing work force in an organization to
achieve organizational goals. Investing in human capital has a direct effect on Organizational performance. Employers grapple with
the question of how much to invest in the work force, and whether the benefits will cover the cost of investment. For Indian Apparel
manufacturers, these questions are more mystifying as little research has been done that relates to their experience”.
Novac E. (2008) states , "Human resource management is one that provides a systematic check on a set of interrelated
processes affecting and involving all members of an organization, processes that include human resource planning, recruitment,
selection and evaluation employee training and human resources development, motivating and rewarding employees. "
HR assesses talent through use of performance appraisals and then rewards them accordingly. In fulfilment of the latter,
HR may sometimes administer payroll and employee, although such activities are more and more being outsourced, with HR playing
a more strategic role. Finally, HR is involved in employee terminations - including resignations, performance-related dismissals,
and redundancies.
At the macro-level, HR is in charge of overseeing organizational leadership and culture.
2. HRM Practises
HRM practises are established by an organization, to support administrative personnel functions, performance
management, employee relations and resource planning. Each company has a different set of circumstances, and so develops an
individual set of human resource policies.
These policies, when organized and disseminated in an easily used form, can serve to pre-empt many misunderstandings between
employees and employers about their rights and obligations in the business place. It is tempting, as a new small business owner, to
focus on the concerns of the business at hand, and put off the task of writing up a human resource policy. Having policies written is
important so that it is clear to all what the policies are and that they are applied consistently and fairly across the organization.
Moreover, when issues concerning employee rights and company policies come before federal and state courts, it is standard practice
to assume that the company's human resource policies, whether written or verbal, are a part of an employment contract between the
employee and the company. Without clearly written policies, the company is at a disadvantage.

3. Supply Chain and Supply Chain Management
A supply chain is defined as a set of activities that span enterprise functions from the ordering and receipt of raw materials,
manufacturing of products, through to the distribution and delivery to the customer. These activities are associated with the material
flow and information flow (Li 2007). Supply chain management (SCM) is a set of synchronised activities for integrating suppliers,
manufacturers, transporters, and customers efficiently so that the right product or service is delivered at the right quantities, at the
right time, to the right places. The ultimate objective of SCM is to achieve sustainable competitive advantage (Li 2007). With the
implementation of SCM, suppliers and customers are viewed as partners and their relationship becomes a cooperative one as
enterprises in the supply chain recognise that coordination among partners within the supply chain is a key factor of success. In
order to operate a supply chain efficiently in a cooperative manner, all related functions across the supply chain must operate in an
integrated manner in which the various partners within the supply chain must be efficient with respect to every aspect including
quality management.
An increasing reliance on more collaboration supported by better integration within the supply chain which is resulting on
information systems to grow. An efficient supply chain is characterised by real-time collaboration and sophisticated integration
(Zhang et al. 2003, 2004, Li 2006). Research indicates that SCM would not be possible without integrating HR to technology and
4. HRM and SCM
Many studies conducted in different working conditions reveal a strong correlation between HRM and SCM (Gowen and
Tallon, 2003). McAfee et al. (2002) emphasized the necessity to create a fit between supply chain and human resources strategies.
Very few of them investigate the relationship between human resource practices and supply chain process which was the focus of
this study.
Gowen and Tallon (2003) found a link between managerial and employee support as well as employee training to enhance
the SCM practice success. This research demonstrates that SCM has a substantial competitive advantage in four dimensions: Value
added, rareness, imitation cost barrier and organizational structure. All these four dimensions are activated by HRM factors such as
employee training and employee support. In brief, HRM enhances the value added chain by providing more effective resources in
terms of trained and enthusiastic employees.
Hence, organizations could achieve a greater competitive advantage by directing more resources toward managerial and
employee support while marinating employee training (Goldstein and Ford, 2002). However, there is little literature that describes
the relationship between human resource activities or organization variables and supply chain success (Shub and Stonebraker, 2009).
The success of the SCM system depends on adopters who develop specific capabilities (Chandra and Kumar, 2000).
Attaining these capabilities requires employees, who are flexible in their role to have a broad set of skills, adaptable to recognition,
able to work in boundary-spanning responsibility and are innovative (Othman and Ghani, 2008). Moreover, companies said to be
effective in their SCM practices put a lot of emphasis on developing their human resource through training and retraining of
employees (Gowenand Tallon, 2003). In addition, Shadur and Bamber (1994) pointed out that effective SCM practices also rely on
teamwork and continuous improvement. Basu and Miroshnik (1999) explained that such collaboration also requires high trust among
employees and with suppliers. The study by Othman and Ghani (2008) provided evidence that there was a positive relationship
between HRM practices and the SCM success. Moreover, they found some support for the contention that the adoption of SCM
needs to be supported by specific forms of HRM practice.
HRM& SCM links can take two forms: Human capital resources within organization needed for supply chain to function
effectively (recent SCM revolution requires HR in SC to possess different skills and more capabilities as their responsibilities have
increased) and activities between organizations embedded in supply chain partner relationships. First being Intra-organizational
HRM &SCM links. This talks about managers in supply chain functions and their process & change management skills and ability
to work cross-culturally. Main HRM issues in supply chain sector are educating and training workers before and after hire, assisting
workers in keeping up with technology and succession and career planning. Supplier related team building and problem solving
training are significantly related to supply chain success.
Second is Inter-organizational HRM &SCM links. This has two primary types:
(1) Applying HRM & SCM to manage relationships with other firms in the supply chain, e.g.: extensive research on selection and
recruitment of personnel can be used to design a selection system for suppliers. Diffusing or aligning HRM best practices across
supply chain partners (require supplier certification to HR standards).
(2) Use of HRM practices by supply chain partners to manage their employees, particularly to encourage collaborative behavior and
knowledge sharing (Fisher et al., 2010).
SCM being integrated into organizational processes and management functions and came to be considered the strategic advantage
for firms around the world. HRM emerged as a dominant organizational function with significant effect on the firm's performance.
HRM proactively contributes to SCM success while it has direct & indirect effects on HRM practices (Khan et al., 2013).There
exists a unidirectional relationship between HRM and supply chain, in which HRM affects supply chain management. It is
conclusive of the fact that that organizations need to focus more on HRM to not only improve employee performance, but also
enhance the supply chain management and contribute to its success (Khan et al., 2013).

Khan et al. (2013) states the way HRM factors like employee training and employee support advantageously activate SCM in four
dimensions, achieving a significant competitive advantage. The four dimensions here being: value added, rareness, imitation cost
barrier and organizational structure. The discussion is conclusive of the fact that a greater competitive advantage may be achieved
by deploying more resources towards managerial and employee support and training.
Mittar (2014) concluded that the more HRM practices in place, the more the employees remain motivated to work
effectively and efficiently and improve the SCM performance with lesser intention to leave the organization as well.
Human Resource & Supply Chain Management (HRM&SCM) combines suppliers, information systems, finance,
employees, manufacturing and operations, sales and marketing, research and development, inventory management and customer
relations, and integrate them into a single unified model to create value chain system. Successful SCM depends upon employees
with a broad skill-set, HR development through training & retraining, teamwork & continuous improvement, high trust among
employees & suppliers, integration of Internet into management and managerial accounting.
Managing people within and between firms in supply chain relationships offers opportunities for competitive advantage. This results
in cost savings which are in turn passed on to the customers. Successful supply chain management depends upon the performance
of the people in the supply chains. The current complex business environment comprises of shorter product-life cycles, product
proliferation, outsourcing, globalization of the supply base and markets. This has magnified the challenges of HRM in supply chains.
Objective: To study the relationship of HRM practices and supply chain in apparel Industry in Delhi/NCR
5. Methodology Adopted
For Secondary Data, various research papers and articles on HR Policies, SCM and their examples understanding the
barriers in application of various HR policies and its impact on Organisation were considered.
Furthermore, for Primary data, a questionnaire on factors influencing the HR policies and its impact on garment manufacturing was
developed. This helps in identification of present scenario, complete process involved in SCM and analysis of responses received
from customers as well as garment manufacturing firms.
6. Data Analysis and Interpretation
The formulated questionnaire was sent to export houses which had turnover of more than 50 crores and are based in
Delhi/NCR. The filled questionnaires were received from 35 export houses and data was then evaluated in percentage method.
54 % of employees accepted that efforts are being made to generate awareness amongst the employees about the
organization’s financial position, customer’s needs, and quality of product/service, cost etc.

77% of employees voiced that systems well placed in recruitment and selection with well-defined job descriptions
necessitates efficient employees.
7. Conclusion
The research showed the impact of HRM practices on effective supply chain management. The study concluded that SCM
methodologies can enhance intra-firm HRM, for example, the bull-whip effect (small changes in consumer demand are magnified
across the supply chain) can apply to long term personnel planning. Organizational culture impacts supply chain integration,
integration practices in the supply chain act as a mediating link between culture and performance. Some HRM practices have a
positive effect on building intra firm SCM relationships while some have a negative effect.
Intra organizational divides can be as strong as, if not stronger than, inter firm divisions, therefore HR practices are important in
both settings. Internal supply chains provide greater opportunities for top management to control and extract value from the supply
chain, compared to supply chains consisting of separate organizations.
HRM practices enable the proper functioning of Supply Chain and ensure that employees are treated fairly, managed well, appraised
effectively and rewarded financially and non-financially.
HRM helps specific tasks and performance parameters for various levels and functions of employees based on their education,
experience, and designations Just like an SCM function is responsible for sourcing and bringing raw material in. So, also the HR
team is expected to help the business bring in the talent and staffing required to run the business appropriately.
