Hewlett-Packard (HP) is facing high inventory levels of deskjet printers in Asia and low service levels in Europe, necessitating a redesign of its supply chain. The redesign involves moving the final assembly and localization of products to distribution centers, reducing lead times and inventory costs by 31.3% and transportation costs by 44.9%. An additional inventory planning approach is suggested to optimize safety stock across product nodes, aligning with HP's long-term strategy.
