People are thought to be able to mentally rotate an object so as to be able to imagine it in a different
orientation. In this experiment partcipants were presented with two three dimensional objects. Some of
the pairs of objects where the same object and some of them where different objects. Partcipants were
asked to identify whether the second object was the same as the first one in the pair, even though it
was shown as being rotated around a set angle, or if it was a completely different object. The reaction
time of the partcipant s was found to be directly related to the degree of the angle of which the object
was rotated.

The object was rotated to one of 8 possible degrees in increments of 45 degrees from 0 to 360. The
structure of the experiment was that the participant goes to the website and chooses the experiment.
Then the participant is asked to give informed consent and the experiment begins. The participant is
presented with a pair of shapes and asked to decide whether the shapes are of the same or different
images (whether one can be turned into the other by a rotation). The participant clicks a button to
specify whether the images are the same or different.
RESULTS
The results of this experiment are the mean reaction times that it took the participant to decide whether
the example they where presented with was the same or different object. The means of both of the sets
of data clearly shows that as the angle of the rotation of the object increases the reaction time of the
participant increases. When these means are plotted on a graph they clearly show a linear increase in
reaction time as the angle of rotation increases. This continues until the object has been rotated 180
degrees. The reaction time decreases linearly as the object is rotated more and more. Overall the
reaction time for the pairs that are of different objects (where one cannot be made into the other
through a rotation are higher) however they follow the same pattern as the pairs that are of the same
objects.

The first thing I noticed that was unique about the way the book was written was that the entire novel
takes place in just a single day. Woolf gives the reader so many details, seemingly ordinary ones such
as Clarissa going to buy flowers for her party, mending her dress, meeting old acquaintances, etc.
However, these everyday interactions (combined with the character s inner thoughts) create a very
clear and complex image of social class, the perception of time, loneliness/being alone (not physically,

limited by it. Forcing her to alter her identity to play the expected part in society and maintain her

play. This leads directly into her feelings of loneliness because while she interacts with a lot of people
and is married, there is a distance between her true self and everyone else. Throughout the book, the
reader is given insight to how each character perceives another vs. what they actually say out loud, if
they say anything at all. This gives the reader the ability to see this distance between everyone, even
Clarissa s own husband is unable to tell her that he loves her, yet he really does love her on the inside.

interesting because is based on the belief on another religion or better said based on an event that takes

Morrison s Recitatif she brings up racism and the societal normal. She never reveals the race of either

this story, two girls meet from very different back grounds and different races and become friends,

This paper is going to discuss the Crusades religious meaning as a cleansing, the religious motivations
to defeat the enemies of Christendom, the religious manifestations of sewing the sign of the Cross on
clothes, and role of religious institutions, more specifically the Papacy.
I will use the sources given to me to explain the different topic I listed before. I will use both primary
and secondary sources.
The Crusades had many different religious meanings. One of which was a Crusade as cleansing. By
participating in the Crusades one would have a remission of all sins. And for the ones who could not
physically fight in the battles, they would have to help financially.4 Usually Catholics had to go to a
priest for confession and then get penance to get rid of sins. The idea of indulgence was so popular
among the people that the church started promoting it.1 It was also a big attraction for many soldiers
who had man sins from their pasts.1

Realist fictions speculate myths, assumptions, social norms, sentimentality, collective wisdom, and
prejudices. Realism stories are usually about the middle class people, and it aims to show a truthful
portrayal of truth. Regionalism is a class of realist literature distinguished by closeness to the habits,
language, dialects, manners, history, traditions, beliefs of a particular geographical region.
Regionalism manifests the characters of both realism and romanticism. Romanticism is cultural the
period from 1830 1860 in America. Humankind is naturally good. The characteristics of romanticism
are passion and emotion, nature over the man, spiritual, intuition, and insight. A White Heron, by
Sarah Orne Jewett, is an example of local color because of its realism. Jewett uses characteristics of
