Ricky Substance Abuse
In today s society, we are faced with many issues and problem. How we learn to deal and cope with
these issues plays a major role in a person life. Ricky is a 37 year old male from Gainville, Ga. I have
been working with Ricky to help him deal with his Substance Abuse for about a month now hears at
Sunrise. When he was 18 years old, he moved to New York with his uncle to find a job and to go to
school to better himself. Sometimes life can throw a curveball at you by the time he was 28 years old,
he was hooked on cocaine and had been arrested numerous of time for possession of a controlled
substance and assault. His last arrested came a year ago where he plead guilty to possession of a
controlled substance and DWI. After, that he moved to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According, to Claus and Kindleberger (2002). A with substance abuse problem needs to be assessed
and apply appropriate strategies. Ricky cocaine addiction has put a strained on his relationship with
his family because, they do not know his is using drugs, and his addiction has also put him in a lot of
trouble with the law. He also says when he is around his friend they influence him to use drugs. Ricky
also stated that his learning social skill has never been what it should have been growing up. He had a
hard time learning the information in school, which is while it took him so long to graduate. Social
Skill is the lack of knowledge, as opposed to intentional deviance (Walsh, 2009). This deficit is found
in children between the age 7 and 10. After, reviewed the case files from his prior records and notes
from our sessions. I have come up with this assessment cocaine is the major issue that he is facing.
Therefore, if he gets this under control then he can deal with the other issues that he is dealing with. I
also assess that this drug problem is taking a major total on his body. Because, it is harming his body,
which could cause major concern in the long run. People who use cocaine is 5 times more likely to
suffer a drug related stroke. In my finding it was also relieved that after, using crack he goes into a
stage of withdrawing. In which he doesn t communicate with anyone and he sleeps all the time. I have
determined since this is the major force

Organic Compounds Identity Lab Report
Kenneth Hobbs
The objective of the lab was to reveal some physical characteristics of two organic compounds to
determine their identity. The methods performed in this lab were melting point (mp), thin layer
chromatography, solubility in a sodium bicarbonate solution, and mixed mp with organic solids. The
unknown #5 exhibited an approximate mp range of 162 167 °C, precise mp range of 162 164 °C, Rf
value of 0.558, and insoluble in sodium bicarbonate. The first comparison of Rf values showed
unknown #5 had a considerably higher value compared to the other unknowns. Xing s unknown Rf
value of 0.506 gave an immediate indication towards a match, both compounds had a similar white
chalk physical appearance, and his mp range of 161 163 °C confirmed the two unknowns were most
likely to be the same. The mixed mp with Xing s unknown was 162 163.5 °C. The mixed mp
concludes the two unknowns are the same because the temperature range did not become broader and
lower as if two different compounds would. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mixed mp with benzanilide was 161.5 163 °C, which means unknown #5 is most likely
benzanilide. The mixed mp with salicylic acid was 134 137.5, which is much lower than both of the
compounds individual mp. Since the temperature was lower, the crystalline structures of the impure
mixture changed. Because the mp range did not broaden as much with the temperature drop, the
mixed sample may have been near the eutectic point. The mixture mp for the benzoic acid and sand
mixture was 126.1 °C. The organic benzoic acid melted into a liquid; however, the sand did not melt
into a liquid because it is insoluble in the organic liquid. With this being said, the sand had no effect
on the crystalline structure and mp for benzoic

Case Study The Voter Turnout For The Election
As citizens, we are all called out to make political choices during elections thus vote when required.
But not all citizens vote during elections. In this assignment, we will study the voter turnout for the
march 2016 primary elections for the republican and democratic parties based on the Harris country
reports for the county itself has a whole and more specifically other voter precinct that are concerned
by certain voters for this assignment. After my researches, I found on the voting precinct 0272 my
street address belongs to which is Briarhurst Drive. According to the reports , the primary that got
more voters county wide is the Republican primary which had 329,768 voters out of 2,081,781 while
the Democrat primary had 227,280 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One not voting implicitly means consenting to whatever idea proposed during the electoral campaigns
thus that will give more chance to whatever party to win as its voters in favor of them will count more
than those who did not vote and that was the case for the 2016 elections. It is considered more
dangerous not to vote than voting blank, at least the government and those in charge of the elections
could notice and accept that even though the voters did not choose anyone at least he or she tried to
make her voice be heard and that is one main factor of an improving society. Moreover, in order to
increase voter turnout, we as a society, first should try to understand why some people decide not to
vote. As we understand increasingly what the problem we could find better solutions and also could
choose and construct better representatives and ideologies that would push the abstainers to vote. As
the fair vote website explains it we should think about outcomes that better represent the diverse
beliefs of the electorate thus focus on better ideologies (Fair Vote, n.d.). The website also proposes an
alternative named the Universal Voter registration which would modernize voter registration.
Furthermore, the Fair vote website proposes a National Popular vote which according to the website,
would expand presidential campaigns from just ten states to all 50 , that would increase the turnout in
certain areas that probably were not included in the campaign as there

HIPAA Privacy
First and foremost, what is HIPAA and what does it stand for? HIPAA is an acronym for a law passed
called the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This US law was passed on August
21st, 1996 and was put in place to protect the privacy of patient medical records and other related
healthcare information. Since there are a lot of misconceptions in regards to HIPAA, healthcare
professionals have many questions to ensure they are not only following the law, but providing the
best service they can for their patients while protecting their rights. These questions range from public
health uses and disclosures, research uses and disclosures, and litigations concerning a person s rights
under HIPAA. What does the HIPAA Privacy Rule require the average provider or health plan to do?
It is a requirement under the HIPAA Privacy Rule that each patient knows their privacy rights and how
their medical information can be used. The Rule also includes that each facility has adequate training
for its employees. The securing of patient records containing identifiable information so that only
authorized personnel can access them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The short answer is, no. Collecting and receiving information about a possible threat to public health
is sanctioned under HIPAA Privacy Rule. Although permission is not needed to report a
communicable disease, the patient is notified of exposure to prevent or control any epidemic. Often
times the patient is encouraged to speak with their spouses/partners, if they refuse to do so, it falls
under the physicians responsibility to seek out those partners. Public health and safety is very
important. HIPAA not HIPPO

The Individual Employee With The Working Knowledge...
Arming the individual employee with the working knowledge associated with their work environment
goes a long way in terms of supporting information security. As an example, users during the course of
employment will be exposed to confidential information. In efforts or reduce the risk of leaks
associated with such content the organization must require all employees sign a confidentiality
agreement if the company expects the data to not become public knowledge. Issues tied to printed
works are just one example of the requirement regarding policy generation. Moreover, users must be

understand why policies and procedures are in place. Without understanding, user s behavior will
ultimately put the company in a defensive position.
Policy Buy In
For an organization to run smoothly, organizations must utilize polies and procedures. Furthermore, to
ensure a smooth operation those policies and procedures must be enforced. Unfortunately, one of the
most difficult aspects of ensuing policies are effective within the organization is through policy
enforcement. Users themselves have the ability stress the boundaries of policy guidelines. There are
those within an organization who at times have a problem with the policies within the organization
who dislike guidelines before them to include top performers. However, an equal treatment from

Boeing V Airbus
Boeing versus Airbus
1. Do you believe Airbus could have become a viable competitor without subsidies?
Given the competitive dynamics in the commercial aircraft industry, it is not likely that Airbus could
have become a viable competitor without subsidies. These dynamics include investment costs in the
billions for research and development of a new airliner, long break even times, significant experience
curve on the manufacturing side, and the highly volatile demand for aircraft. Due to a lack of market
share, if Airbus entered the market without this support they would have suffered many years of losses
resulting in a possible bankruptcy. However, Airbus credits its success to a good product and a good
strategy instead of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5. Why do you think that the U.S. industry reacted with caution to attempts by politicians to reopen
the trade dispute in 1993?
There are several reasons why the US industry acted with caution. First of all, positive trade
agreements were already in place from the 1992 trade agreement. The industry probably thought it
should wait longer to ensure things worked out on their own before allowing politicians to intervene
and make changes. If politicians had caused things to go south, which they inevitably do, these
agreements would have been jeopardized. Secondly, the industry was practicing risk management. A
lack of caution could have created a mess as the economy was taking a turn for the worse. Lastly,
reopening old wounds could have caused Europe to pull out of many deals with the US, further
disrupting international relations. The US weighed the odds and very quietly backed out, as they
should have.
6. In an era of global competition, what is the case for antitrust authorities to permit the formation of
large domestic firms through mergers and acquisitions?
The grounds for any merger depend on the competitive nature of both firms. If one firm is highly

Antegren: A Beacon of Hope
As Jim Mullen, CEO of Biogen Idec, drove into work on February 19, 2004, he considered both the
tremendous hope and stiff challenge generated by the company the previous day. The company had
announced its intention to submit an application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
seeking approval for Antegren, a drug that Biogen Idec was developing in partnership with Elan to
treat multiple sclerosis (MS).
While the patient community and investors greeted the news with excitement, Mullen knew that to
fulfill the promise of Antegren, he would need to make a number of crucial decisions and the company
would need to bring the drug to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process could take months and typically required extensive lead time to schedule meetings and
review data with insurers data that had to be convincing. Early FDA approval would mean short
circuiting that whole methodical process, and it was unclear if this could be finalized before the drug
was approved.
Although all the signals from the FDA were positive, there was also the risk that the FDA, which itself
had been going through a period of upheaval, would not approve Antegren. If this happened, the
reputation risk to Antegren could be irreversible, even if it was approved at a later date after further
trials.
Mullen knew his responsibility was nothing short of transforming the promise of Antegren into reality.
He had to determine how to get the drug made and accessible to patients, and he had to lead the
company to execute in record time on those plans. Mullen knew Biogen Idec could fulfill the high
hopes of patients and investors, and now his task was to lead the company to do so.

Student Code Of Professional Responsibility
As members of Western College of Law, and, moreover, as members of the legal and academic
communities, students must hold themselves to the highest standards of ethical behavior. An
individual whose actions impugn the integrity of his self or herself necessarily impugn the integrity of
the institutions and communities in which they are permitted membership. Moreover, those who
would practice law have a sworn duty to the People, who must trust in the honor and integrity of their
legal advocates and representatives. If the People lose faith in the law, the law loses its efficacy as a
tool for the public good. Therefore, as protectors of the academic and professional ethics of this

Section IV (A)(1)(2) and (3) of the Student Code of Professional Responsibility (Student Code)
dictates, [a]ny conduct pertaining to academic or other University matters that evidences fraud, deceit,

that raises serious doubts about the accused student s honesty, integrity or fitness to practice law
constitutes a violation of the student code. Mr. O Shea committed this act purposefully and knowingly
in violation of section IV (B). The Committee should expel Mr. Oshea from Western College of Law.
Admission to the State Bar will require that Mr. Oshea to prove that he [i]s a person of good moral
character, which may be proved by any evidence satisfactory to the court. Furthermore, the State Bar
often considers an applicant s financial integrity. In Application of Taylor, the Supreme Court of
Oregon denied the applicant, relying heavily on the evidence that the he had committed theft and that
he had exhibited dishonest financial practices. Mr. Oshea s offense covers both of these grounds with
a single act. The Committee should apply the same logic to its decision. Though this recommendation
is admittedly severe, the details Mr. Oshea s actions clearly warrant expulsion. Mr. Oshea intentionally
committed fraud. As a law student, he cannot reasonably claim ignorance to the illegality of his
actions. Additionally, Mr. O Shea stole a sum of

Mao Zedong
More murderous than Hitler, more powerful than Stalin, in the battle of the Communist leaders Mao
Zedong trumps all. Born into a comfortable peasant family, Mao would rise up to become China s
great leader. After leading the communists away from Kuomintang rule, he set out to modernize
China, but the results of this audacious move were horrific. He rebounded from his failures time and
again, and used his influence to eliminate his enemies and to purge China of its old ways. Mao saw a
brighter future for China, but it was not within his grasp; his Cultural Revolution was not as successful
as he had wanted it to be. Liberator, oppressor, revolutionary, Mao Zedong was the greatest

Mao had devised a plan; he needed to remove his political rivals as well as high officials in the
communist party who were not sufficiently zealous. In a move of pure genius, Mao recruited his most
loyal followers: the young people who had grown up under his reign who were eager to stir up trouble,
and launched The Cultural Revolution. They were called the Red Guards and they were told to smash
up the four olds defined as old ideas, old culture, old customs, and old habits. Heeding the call, the
revolutionary teenagers vandalised and destroyed antiques, paintings, and books, and burned historic
buildings and temples to the ground. The Red Guards raided houses and severely beat the people
living there, and long hair, jewelry, high heeled shoes, and tight fitting pants were not allowed. Artists,
writers, and scholars were abused and attacked under the law for being bourgeois authorities and
teachers were punished and even tortured by their students. These once revered adults were forced to
bow and beg for their life at denunciation meetings where they were attack verbally and physically for
hours in front of large crowds. But soon, enough was enough. The urban young people had run out of
revolutionary activities to occupy themselves with, and were causing trouble, so something radical had
to be done. These youth needed to be re educated through hard labor in the countryside. Mao
advocated thought reform through labour

Essay about Ancient Egypt
Egyptian history is rich, vibrant, and full of interesting cultural knowledge. Egypt is one of the most
fertile countries located in the Mediterranean Sea; because approximately 40,000 years ago many
people lived in Egypt earlier than in other places. The Egyptian environment is a hot and dry area,
because it is a part of the Sahara Desert. Many Egyptians religious beliefs were polytheistic; they
believed in several different gods. The economy during the ancient Egyptian time period was different
because they were one of the first groups on earth to begin the farming trade. Although Egyptian
history occurred many years ago, it is still interesting and fascinating. (Environment/ culture, Religion,

Egyptians have been polytheistic since the beginning of time and throughout the Old Kingdom,
Middle Kingdom, and New Kingdom. This means they had faith in many different gods. They were
said to have worshipped their gods with animal sacrifices and many of the people would carry images
of the god from place to place. In the beginning the Egyptians believed that only pharaohs had an
afterlife. The Egyptians also believed that all of Egypt belonged to the gods and Pharaoh was their
representative here on earth. Some thought that maybe he was a god himself and that made everything
in Egypt belong to him. They later began to believe that everyone, including animals, had an afterlife.
Egyptians trusted that when a person died Anubis would weigh your soul compared with a feather.
This process would tell whether a person lied, murdered, or been too self involved. If the person s soul
was heavier than the feathers with bad deeds, that person would be punished. The heart was thrown to

Harmony s Seminar Sparknotes
After watching the documentary for Harmony s seminar, I simply could not brainstorm about anything
else. The chilling display of female repression is all that I have been able to think about. I have never
seen something that made me feel physically ill before and the after effects of watching this have not
led up. I am full of a deep mixture of rage and grief when reflecting upon the systems deeply
embedded within the fabric of India s culture. Though it must be said that brutality is not limited to the
borders of India as Aboriginal women suffer in present day Canada.
Almost equal with the women of India, Aboriginal women have been struggling against racism,
sexism, and domestic violence since the dawn of colonialism (explorers brought with them their
patriarchal social codes and beliefs). They are faced with a double burden for being female and a
minority. Emma LaRocque, a Metis woman and professor of Native Studies at the University of

male oriented status quo. Children in India and on First Nation reserves cannot continue to be raised

requires an extreme sense of malignancy that could only be found in the deranged. I think you can

Violence In The Virgin Suicides In The Virgin Suicides
From this analysis and definition of witchcraft and its relation to the player, gossip, one can see how
violence may erupt from such cases of witch accusations. Gossip, as an active player in witch hunts
and trials can [...] outrun the intentions of [its] creators, producing more violence than is anticipated
(Stewart and Strathern 193). Such unanticipated growth within gossip is the result of, as Hurston
writes in Their eyes were watchingGod, words walking without masters (2). One can relate words
walking without masters as violence walking without masters. In the way that words, gossip, and
rumor can snowball, to a certain degree, violence can as well. After misfortunes, most often deaths,
within a community, people attribute misfortune to witches and kill them in order to set matters right
(Stewart and Strathern 193). Therefore, we see that violence is retribution in witch hunts and is given
agency through gossip. In The Virgin Suicides, the community, in effect, kills the Lisbon sisters
through violent gossip in retribution for Cecilia s death and the unrest it caused the community. The
Lisbon sister s state is reflected through a tree in their front yard that, for a time [...] stood blighted,
trying to raise its stunted arms, a creature clubbed mute (Eugenides 173). The vicious words of the
community clubbed the sisters, robbing them of their personality. Eventually, the sisters become so
ostracized and hated for their inability to be anything but sexual

The Decade Of The 1920 s
The Roaring Twenties Underneath the façade of dancing and parties, the decade of the 1920s was a
violent clash of culture between the conservative Protestants mostly from rural, small town America
and the liberal, modern city dwellers. The liberals embraced and celebrated their newfound freedoms,
such as sexual liberation, while the conservatives tried desperately to hold onto their traditional
religious standards. The World War sent many Americans abroad for the first time and blacks were
introduced to foreign societies where they were equal to whites. The post war years saw mass
immigration, which brought new religions and cultures to America. Prohibition became law, and failed
miserably to produce the moral society its supporters had predicted. While this was a time of
economic prosperity, the inability of the conservatives and the liberals to reach a common ground on
moral issues provided a backdrop for the instability and social ... Show more content on

relationships between men and women became more casual, premarital sex and adultery became more

this decline in moral values and placed a large part of the blame on the media. Books, magazines,

other carriers. Many carriers were sunk by submarines, but submarines were also likely to be sunk by
other aircraft carriers after their presence was known. Aircraft Carriers Lost in Battle Due to their
importance aircraft carriers were considered a priority target, and as a result, many were lost during
World War II. Most were sunk by aircraft, like the battleships they were replacing. Most in the pacific
theater were lost in during the Battle of Midway or the Coral Sea. The loss of the carriers, especially
the Japanese carriers, had a significant effect on the outcome of the war. World War II era were very
fragile, and could have their flight deck incapacitated through multiple ways. The most common was
dive bombers placing large holes in the flight deck, along with damaging fires. However, this type of
damage was easily repaired. A more damaging type of damage was torpedo damage. While one or two
strikes was usually not enough to sink a large carrier, it could cause the ship to lean to one side, called
listing. When the listing angle became too high, aircraft could roll off the deck and were unable to
land (Navy). A combination of these two caused the Japanese to scuttle two fleet carriers, the Hiryū

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Never Let Me Go is about a thirty one year old woman named Kathy H. Kathy is a carer for donors
and she travels from care center to care center. She talks about her childhood at Hailsham and her
childhood friends, mostly Ruth and Tommy, and the adventures she experienced. At the end of the
book, we learn that Kathy lives in a world where her schoolmates and her are clones that are made for
donating organs until they die or complete. They accept this fate without questioning it. Never Let Me
Go takes place in England during the later 1990s. The clones spend the first 16 years of their life in
Hailsham. They learn everything they need to know like English, science, music, history and math.
However, they never mention Hailsham s address or what city the school is located in. The school is a
hidden gem and Kathy says Driving around the country now, I still see things that will remind me of
Hailsham. I might pass the corner of a misty field, or see part of a large house in the distance as I
come down the side of a valley, even a particular arrangement of poplar trees up on a hillside. Then I
see it s impossible and I go on driving, my thoughts drifting on elsewhere. Kathy could never find
Hailsham. There were many majors events in Never Let Me Go. One major event in Never Let Me Go
is when Madam came to visit Hailsham. The children would create something like a poem, story, or
painting and Madame would collect the item and put into the gallery if it was good enough.

Bertha Of The Great Gatsby
Once upon a time, in a certain kingdom, in a certain land, in a little village, there was a young woman
named Bertha. Bertha did not have much, little money, little food, and no real memory of her family,
the one thing she did have, was her small yellow stone that hung on her neck, this was the one thing
she had to remember her family. She lived in a small hut, which is where she independently cared and
supported herself because there was no one else in her life. At night she would have small dreams of
her family remembering small bits of her childhood when her family was still with her, invoking them
out loud, which is when she would wake up in the middle of the night. Bertha never knew what

can imagine!! , Bertha was thrown off by the sudden eagerness of the old man, he continued, Why
have you not followed the path to riches this stone promises? . She spoke up I do not know what you
are talking about, this is just an ordinary necklace I received long ago, with this, the man grabbed her
hand and insisted she went with him. She pulled hand away and refused to go anywhere with someone
she just met, Fine , he started, you leave me no choice , he said with what seemed like perfidiousness,
Bertha glanced at him confused, she saw him waving his hands, then out of nowhere a small light built
up in between his hands. The next thing she knew her vision went black and she fell to the floor. She
blinked her eyes multiple times trying to adjust her eyes to the bright light that she could not find the
source of, once her eyes fully adjusted she noticed she was laying in a comfortable little bed in a room
that had a strange smell of bark. She sat up and turned her body so her legs dangled off the edge and in
an instant, immeasurable pain came from her head she winced at the feel of it. I must have

How Did Dorothy Hodgkin Contribute To Science
What is the legacy of Dorothy Hodgkin, both on the study of structure on an atomic scale and for
women in science?
By Ruqayyah Haq
I [Dorothy Hodgkin] was captured for life by chemistry and by crystals . Hodgkin was first exposed to
these two captivating topics at age 10, she was encouraged by a friend of her parents (Dr A.F. Joseph)
who gave her chemicals to analyse when she and her parents went to visit him. Her interest grew and
she went against the social gender norm, later attending chemistry classes with the boys at school.
Eventually this led to her choosing to study chemistry at the University of Oxford and after she went
on to complete a PhD at the University of Cambridge. Hodgkin evidently academically excelled in
science it was when she attended a special course in crystallography (a combination of maths, physics
and chemistry) where she was inspired to continue research in Xray Crystallography, the physical
science of x ray. In order to do this she moved to Oxford as a research fellow where she began her
independent research career in 1934.
Due to her motivation to understand Crystallography, Dr. Hodgkin was able to make important
discoveries in different areas of science. These discoveries have each made a positive change for
society:

Oppression of the Powerless as a Tool for Character...
In Juan Rulfo s Pedro Páramo, various forms of oppressive behavior are manifested in the town of
Comala these range from the simple, readily apparent abuse of power to keep a population in line, as
Pedro Páramo, having complete control over Comala, regularly does, to the very sinister use of
religion as a means of reinforcing the patriarchal ideal held by contemporary Mexican society. In
describing the oppression of society at large, Rulfo shows the sinister relationship that exists between
power and the corruption of one s moral standards through Pedro Páramo and Father Rentería.
It has been said of power that it corrupts they who hold it, and that absolute power corrupts absolutely.
In looking at the oppression of the powerless for the sake of Pedro Páramo s bastard son, there has
never been a more apropos statement with reference to both the father and to the man who forgives
him on behalf of God. While Miguel Páramo was never punished while he was amongst the living due
to his father s immense influence and wealth, Father Rentería had the opportunity to, as the priest in
Comala, condemn Miguel for his abhorrent crimes against humanity not the least of which included
the rape of Rentería s niece Ana and the murder of her father by not giving his final blessing, which
would have resulted in his condemnation to Hell for time immemorial a punishment truly befitting of
such an awful human being. When it came down to it, though, the Father bent to the hand of Pedro

What Is Capacity Planning
Capacity Planning Capacity planning is to be carried out keeping in mind future growth and expansion
plans, market trends, sales forecasting etc. It is a simple task to plan the capacity in case of stable
demand. But in practice the demand will be seldom stable. The fluctuation of demand creates
problems regarding the procurement of resources to meet the customer demand. Capacity planning is
strategic in nature. Capacity is the rate of productive capability of a facility. Production managers are
more concerned about capacity planning because, sufficient capacity is required to meet the customer
demand in time, capacity affects the cost of efficiency of operations, capacity affects the scheduling
system, capacity creation requires an investment. According to Matsson and Johnsson (2003), the
extent of how capable a company is to use its resources to add value is called Capacity. ... Show more

Attachment Theory, Biological Influences
The issue of attachment is one that influences an individual throughout their life, affecting many
aspects of their development. It is first formed during infancy between the child and their primary care
giver and is maintained over the course of their lifespan. The level of attachment that is formed during
infancy creates a foundation for psychological development in the course of the individual s life
(Santrock, 2013). Attachment security can be an indication of the quality of an individual s future
relationships, as well as challenges that may arise from such interactions. The following will discuss
the attachment theory, biological influences of attachment, factors that contribute to the type of
attachment formed during infancy and early childhood, and its impact and complications throughout
each stage of development from infancy through late adulthood.
Attachment Theory
Bolwby s attachment theory suggests that infants come into the world biologically pre programmed to
form attachments with others in order to survive. He believed that most behaviors associated with
attachment are instinctive and are active during conditions or situations that are threatening. The
attachment theory attributes an infant s fear of strangers to a natural survival mechanism; their crying
helps ensure their caregivers awareness and proximity to them. An infant s behaviors, such as crying,
smiling, or crawling, are meant to stimulate caregiving in adults. Attachment is determined by the

The Evolution Of Modern Cattle Breeding
INTRODUCTION:
Modern cattle breeding increasingly involves the widespread use of advanced reproductive
technologies, including artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation embryo transfer (MOET),
frequently with the germplasm of elite international sires and dams selected through individual and
progeny performance recording schemes. These technologies facilitate the rapid worldwide
multiplication of offspring from elite animals to assist the propagation of genes that improve milk
yield, meat production and other desirable traits. However rapid propagation of desirable genes is
accompanied by simultaneous propagation of genetic mutations that may results in production losses
and animal welfare problems, such as Citrullinaemia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Incidence of heterozygotes for citrullinemia has been estimated at less than 0.5% among U.S.
Holsteins cattle.
Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed of
dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia.
Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the
frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant
between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998).
Pathogenesis:
Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme
argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of
controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first identified
in humans and later in dogs and
Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate
synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle.
Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high
levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield
argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). The mutation responsible for
citrullinemia has been characterized as a single base substitution (C T) in exon 5

Music In The Samoan Culture
Samoa, a small island nation found in the southern end of Pacific Ocean. Although, what they lack in
size is compensated by their rich, Polynesian culture. Music is a powerful force in Samoan culture,
and shapes their identity with the use of resonant lyrics sung in their native tongue, song, and dance
used to parallel their everyday lives and beliefs. Storytelling is as big of an element to Samoan music
and dance as any rhythm produced by their instrumentation, and if it is not directly addressed through
the lyrics, is implied through action. The line between daily life and music is blurred in Samoan
culture through the use of their instrumentation and a vast variety of dances performed to tell their
story.
An introduction to Samoan music is an introduction to the Samoan people as a whole (Moyle, p1).
Music had a strong, complimentary presence in traditional Samoan life, and is still a powerful
presence today. Although, now, the traditional means for Samoan music has evolved along with it.
Traditionally, music was the medium used to tell stories, depict lifestyles, emit warning signals, and to
transmit many other things for tribes inhabiting the island. Without the need for a powerful method to
transfer signals with the aid of technology; modern day Samoan music has modernized and changed to
focus more on the storytelling during a performance. Traditional music in Samoa was a product
derived from how they lived their everyday life while blending their voices into song,

The Lady Tasting Te Summary
The Lady Tasting Tea: Summary of the book
The lady tasting tea takes the reader on a fascinating trip in the history of the statistical revolution. The
contributions of many brilliant minds to the field of statistics as well as their personal lives and
historical perspectives were described.
The story began in a sunny afternoon in Cambridge in the 1920s. A group of scientists was having a
tea party when a lady claimed that there was a difference in taste between the cups where tea was
poured into milk and the cups where milk was poured into tea. Sir Ronald Fisher who became a
famous statistician suggested an experiment to test the lady s hypothesis. The story then goes to the
1890s when the statistical revolution started. Karl Pearson was considered by many as the founder of
mathematical statistics. Pearson discovered the skew distributions stating that they would cover any
type of data scatter and he described these distributions by four numbers; mean, standard deviation,
kurtosis and symmetry. Later a Polish mathematician, Jerzy Neyman showed that Pearson s skew
distributions can not be used to explain all possible distributions. Sir Francis Galton who discovered
fingerprints was also interested in statistics and he founded a biometrical laboratory to measure height
and weights in families to find a mathematical formula that predict the height of children from the
heights of their parents. He described regression to the mean where heights of the children moved

In relevance to PTIN number and Certified Public accountants in section 10.3(b). Any certified public

If a California certified public accountant is licensed, but does not have a Social Security number and

has led to a much wider remit for those involved in working with children and subsequently child

The Punk Rock Movement
1. INTRODUCTION
This report uses Heding et al. s seven approaches to branding (2009) to investigate John Lydon s
relevance, strengths and weaknesses as a brand. John Lydon also known as Johnny Rotten is a singer,
musician and songwriter, famous for being the lead singer of the Sex Pistols (1975 1978) and of the
Public Image Ltd (PiL) (1978 present). This report mainly focuses on Lydon s experience in PiL,
which represents the longest part of his career compared to Sex Pistols relatively short life.
Although the literature recognises that artists can produce powerful brands, the separation between art
and business has partly obscured the potential developments of branding studies in the context of the
cultural industries (Schroeder, 2006, 1291 1292). Considered the pioneer of the Punk Rock movement
and one of the most influential and controversial musicians of all times, Lydon represents an
interesting case study to offer new insights in the applicability of branding theories to artists.
The main body of this report contains seven chapters, one for each of the seven approaches identified
by Heding et al. (2009, 22 25): the identity approach, the personality approach, the consumer based
approach, the economic approach, the relational approach, the community approach and the cultural
approach. Using their model and a great variety of academic frameworks has allowed to deliver a
comprehensive analysis of John Lydon s brand. The discussion section reveals the

My Mother Was A Military Brat
My grandmother once said, or at least I am told she once said, that she was concerned that my father
should not marry my mother because she had no roots. My mother was a military brat. The longest she
s ever lived anywhere is seven years. She makes no bones about the fact that she doesn t know where
she s from. Like the planes my grandfather worked on, my mother was a child of the wind, going here
and there, and wherever destiny took her. I suppose my grandmother would say the same thing about
me. I am a missionary s child, taken wherever the call of God took my family. I didn t grow up in just
one place, therefore I have no roots. It s a very Southern concept, having roots, and is as sacred to the
Heart of Dixie as sweet tea and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But even if that misfortune should befall them, they are still in the same spot they were planted in.
I am like a bird. My roots are confined to one area. My egg hatched in Auburn, and since then I have
collected roots Auburn, Roanoke, Quito,Temuco, Santiago, Cullman, Florence, and Killen, and have
woven them all into a nest that is currently nestled in the branches of Killen. My roost don t trap me in
one spot. I am free to fly wherever without hesitation, and if I so desire, bring back some leaves, or
branches, or even more roots from the places I visit.
At some point I m sure a storm of life, or an unexpected gust of wind will blow me out of Killen s
tree. So I ll glide where the wind takes me, and rebuild my nest in a new tree with new roots.
I m sure my grandmother thinks her little bird is an unstable wreck, and in some ways I am. My
ADHD and scattered brains have turned me into quite the character. The payoff is worth it though.
Why watch the seasons slip by the same old burrow when you can soar to the heavens and gaze upon
the whole world?
I ll always have my nest to come back to, and with each blustery, windy trip to a new tree, my nest of
roots grows bigger and grander.
My senior year.
One glance down the halls of my high school, and one would think it was any ordinary day.
Kids laugh, talk, gossip, make out, throw paper wads; nothing is different.
They don t realize. They don t remember that day. They don t

Ghandi and His Fight Agains Discrimination in South Africa...
Gandhi is considered by many around the world as the father of the Indian independence movement.
Gandhi spent over 20 years in South Africa working to fight discrimination. It was in South Africa that
he developed his concept of Satyagraha, a non violent way of protesting against discrimination. The
first time Gandhi used Satyagraha was in South Africa beginning in 1907 when he organized
opposition to the Black Act. In 1907, the Black Act was passed, requiring all Indians to keep
registration documents on them at all times. Gandhi s first hand experiences in dealing with
discrimination began in South Africa. In Chapter VII Some Experiences, Gandhi recalls on his first
days of his arrival the incident at the Durban court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You must leave this compartment, or else I shall have to call a police constable to push you out. Yes,
you may. I refuse to get out voluntarily.
This incident began his life long battle against all discriminations. Although he debated returning to
India, his duty came first. It would be cowardice to run back to India without fulfilling my obligation.
The hardship to which I was subjected was superficial only a symptom of the deep disease of colour
prejudice. I should try, if possible, to root out the disease and suffer hardships in the process. Redress
for wrongs I should seek only to the extent that would be necessary for the removal of the colour
prejudice. Gandhi also faced the same discrimination on a coach from Johannesburg to Charlestown,
and learned the racial condescension of the racial slur coolie. A coolie is a historical term for manual
labourers and a racial slur. The term was used in America towards the Chinese workers that built the
railroad during the 19th and early 20th century and toward the Indians indentured laborers. On the
coach, a white passenger did not want a coolie sitting inside with the other whites. Instead, he insisted
that Gandhi sit on the floor at his feet on a sack. When Gandhi refused, the man physically assaulted
him the man came down upon me and began heavily to box my ear. He seized me by the arm and tried
to drag me down. I clung to the brass

The World Of Android Smartphones Essay
In the crowded world of Android smartphones, one way that vendors try to differentiate is through the
inclusion of ever better features and specifications. Samsung (NASDAQOTH: SSNLF ) , which ships

generation premium smartphone recently hit the web. Though it may seem like techno babble to many,
it actually tells us a lot about what Samsung hopes to achieve with this device. Peeking inside the

The Athletic Shoe Industry Is Made Up Of Companies That...
Executive Summary
Introduction
The athletic shoe industry is made up of companies that produce footwear for athletic use. This is a
strong industry and has been around for over 100 years. The athletic shoe industry is one of the fastest
growing footwear industries and have top growing sales compared to other footwear industries (NDP
Group, 2016). The key players that currently dominate the market are Nike, Adidas, and Puma (Kates
Bolduc, 2013). This paper will use the porter five forces, industry life cycle, and the key players to
understand the industry. Over these years the athletic shoe industry has grown into a competitive
market.
Porter s Five Forces
The athletic shoe industry will be first analyzed by the Porter s Five Forces framework. The well
known Porter s Five Forces is a model that analyzes an industry and helps firms develop a business
strategy. The five forces model focuses on six forces that will determine the attractiveness of this
industry: (1) the risk of entry by potential competitors, (2) the intensity of rivalry among established
companies within an industry, (3) the bargaining power of buyers, (4) the bargaining power of
suppliers, (5) the closeness of substitutes to an industry s products, and (6) the power of complement
providers (Hill, Jones, Schilling, 2015).
The Risk of Entry by Potential Competitors
The threat of new entrants in the athletic shoe industry is very weak. Currently the market is
dominated by three major competitors, and

Fahrenheit 451 Season 2
I think that, after season 1, every character had a little fan base. Their traits were established, we could
see why and how they worked as a whole and their roles were pretty clear. Yet, season 2 changed
things, and while change can be good or bad. I m not really sure it was positive in this case.
Unnecessary characters While I ve really come to appreciate Shannon Kook, who plays Theo, and
Nicole Stamp, who plays Mel; I can t help but feeling that their characters hadn t bring much to the
table. Yes, it s nice viewing Vordenberg s minions, even seeing them as a little army; but the truth is
that as far a storytelling goes, we could have someone else naming them in passing and there wouldn t
be a difference. At this point, Theo and Mel haven t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s why their personalities were delimited and we knew what they wanted. The problem with
season 2 is that characters have been the same, haven t reacted as expected or simply we have not seen
them grow as expected. Have we seen more flaws? Yes, and they were expected. One of the greatest
things about characterization during season one was that, as viewers, we knew the characters were not
perfect, and that was what made them endearing. But what happened with season 2? Let s see... Perry:
Perry found the dead bodies of the kids from the school paper, she had a strange message written in
latin carved in her stomach, she has been weird and no explanation so far. Kirsch: Kirsch went through
a lot last season, his girlfriend was murdered, his best friend turned out to be a vampire, he was
kidnapped and almost died, yet he s still the same dumb frat boy from last season, we didn t see his
reaction to seeing J.P in Will s body and he hasn t mentioned anything about last season. Danny:
Danny seems to still be hung up on Laura, she still has a hero complex, which sadly has been
furthered by Laura and the circumstances. Did she learn anything from last season? Not that we as
viewers know

Doha Round of Wto Negotiations
The Doha Round of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has sparked controversy, anger and even
suicide from its commencement. This paper seeks to explore what is this Doha Round that has ignited
such passionate displays from delegates and the common man alike, what are the issues at stake given
the Round s success or failure and finally, given the events that have marred its history to date and
based on the many other factors in play, could the Doha Round come to a successful conclusion?
The WTO conducts negotiations through what they call rounds . The November 2001 declaration of
the Fourth Ministerial Conference in Doha, Qatar, known as the Doha Development Round, provides
the mandate for negotiations on a range of subjects. Its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike Seattle, the collapse of the talks in Cancun did not prevent the commencement of the second
round of negotiations, this occurred in Geneva in 2004. The August Geneva talks achieved a
framework agreement on opening global trade. At the Paris talks of 2005, negotiators wanted to make
tangible progress before the December 2005 Hong Kong meeting. However, the talks were left
hanging over a few issues which were viewed as small technical issues, making trade negotiators fear
that agreement on large politically risky issues would be substantially harder.
December 13th 18th 2005 marked the ministerial meeting which took place in Hong Kong. At this
meeting representatives reached a deal that sets a deadline for eliminating subsidies of agricultural
exports by 2013. July 2006 talks in Geneva once again set the DDA off track as negotiators failed to
reach an agreement about reducing farm subsidies and lowering import taxes. Negotiations were
suspended on the 24th July 2006. At a conference at Potsdam in July 2007, a major impasse occurred
between the US, the EU, India and Brazil. The major disagreement was over opening up agricultural
and industrial markets in various countries and also how to cut rich nation farm subsidies.
Of the twenty one mandates adopted in the Ministerial Declaration on 14 November 2001 at Doha,
some have emerged

People who use cocaine is 5 times more likely to suffer a drug related stroke. In my finding it was also relieved that after, using crack he goes into a stage of withdrawing. The methods performed in this lab were melting point (mp), thin layer chromatography, solubility in a sodium bicarbonate solution, and mixed mp with organic solids. The unknown #5 exhibited an approximate mp range of 162 167 °C, precise mp range of 162 164 °C, Rf value of 0.558, and insoluble in sodium bicarbonate. The first comparison of Rf values showed unknown #5 had a considerably higher value compared to the other unknowns. Xing s unknown Rf value of 0.506 gave an immediate indication towards a match, both compounds had a similar white chalk physical appearance, and his mp range of 161 163 °C confirmed the two unknowns were most likely to be the same. One not voting implicitly means consenting to whatever idea proposed during the electoral campaigns thus that will give more chance to whatever party to win as its voters in favor of them will count more than those who did not vote and that was the case for the 2016 elections. It is considered more dangerous not to vote than voting blank, at least the government and those in charge of the elections could notice and accept that even though the voters did not choose anyone at least he or she tried to make her voice be heard and that is one main factor of an improving society. Moreover, in order to increase voter turnout, we as a society, first should try to understand why some people decide not to vote. As we understand increasingly what the problem we could find better solutions and also could choose and construct better representatives and ideologies that would push the abstainers to vote. As the fair vote website explains it we should think about outcomes that better represent the diverse beliefs of the electorate thus focus on better ideologies (Fair Vote, n.d.). The website also proposes an alternative named the Universal Voter registration which would modernize voter registration. Furthermore, the Fair vote website proposes a National Popular vote which according to the website, would expand presidential campaigns from just ten states to all 50 , that would increase the turnout in certain areas that probably were not included in the campaign as there ... Given the competitive dynamics in the commercial aircraft industry, it is not likely that Airbus could have become a viable competitor without subsidies. These dynamics include investment costs in the billions for research and development of a new airliner, long break even times, significant experience curve on the manufacturing side, and the highly volatile demand for aircraft. There are several reasons why the US industry acted with caution. First of all, positive trade agreements were already in place from the 1992 trade agreement. The industry probably thought it should wait longer to ensure things worked out on their own before allowing politicians to intervene and make changes. If politicians had caused things to go south, which they inevitably do, these agreements would have been jeopardized. Secondly, the industry was practicing risk management. A lack of caution could have created a mess as the economy was taking a turn for the worse. Lastly, reopening old wounds could have caused Europe to pull out of many deals with the US, further disrupting international relations. The US weighed the odds and very quietly backed out, as they should have. 6. The company had announced its intention to submit an application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seeking approval for Antegren, a drug that Biogen Idec was developing in partnership with Elan to treat multiple sclerosis (MS). • 16. Violence In The Virgin Suicides In The Virgin Suicides From this analysis and definition of witchcraft and its relation to the player, gossip, one can see how violence may erupt from such cases of witch accusations. Gossip, as an active player in witch hunts and trials can [...] outrun the intentions of [its] creators, producing more violence than is anticipated (Stewart and Strathern 193). Such unanticipated growth within gossip is the result of, as Hurston writes in Their eyes were watchingGod, words walking without masters (2). One can relate words walking without masters as violence walking without masters. In the way that words, gossip, and rumor can snowball, to a certain degree, violence can as well. After misfortunes, most often deaths, within a community, people attribute misfortune to witches and kill them in order to set matters right (Stewart and Strathern 193). Therefore, we see that violence is retribution in witch hunts and is given agency through gossip. In The Virgin Suicides, the community, in effect, kills the Lisbon sisters through violent gossip in retribution for Cecilia s death and the unrest it caused the community. The Lisbon sister s state is reflected through a tree in their front yard that, for a time [...] stood blighted, trying to raise its stunted arms, a creature clubbed mute (Eugenides 173). Role Of Gavroche In Les Miserables Imagine you re dressed in your finest clothes, wearing a top hat or a satin dress and giant flowery hat, stopped in your carriage waiting for other carriages just as beautiful as yours to pass by. Suddenly, a street kid jumps into your carriage bringing his stench and rags with him. Well, this is how Gavroche is presented during the very first scene that he is in in the movie musical Les Misérables. Gavroche was a character vital to Hugo s story because he helped expose many problems in French society, and show how they affected everyone, even a beggar child. • 30. Attachment Theory, Biological Influences The issue of attachment is one that influences an individual throughout their life, affecting many aspects of their development. It is first formed during infancy between the child and their primary care giver and is maintained over the course of their lifespan. The level of attachment that is formed during infancy creates a foundation for psychological development in the course of the individual s life (Santrock, 2013). Attachment security can be an indication of the quality of an individual s future relationships, as well as challenges that may arise from such interactions. The following will discuss the attachment theory, biological influences of attachment, factors that contribute to the type of attachment formed during infancy and early childhood, and its impact and complications throughout each stage of development from infancy through late adulthood. Attachment Theory Bolwby s attachment theory suggests that infants come into the world biologically pre programmed to form attachments with others in order to survive. He believed that most behaviors associated with attachment are instinctive and are active during conditions or situations that are threatening. The attachment theory attributes an infant s fear of strangers to a natural survival mechanism; their crying helps ensure their caregivers awareness and proximity to them. An infant s behaviors, such as crying, smiling, or crawling, are meant to stimulate caregiving in adults. Attachment is determined by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Evolution Of Modern Cattle Breeding INTRODUCTION: Modern cattle breeding increasingly involves the widespread use of advanced reproductive technologies, including artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation embryo transfer (MOET), frequently with the germplasm of elite international sires and dams selected through individual and progeny performance recording schemes. These technologies facilitate the rapid worldwide multiplication of offspring from elite animals to assist the propagation of genes that improve milk yield, meat production and other desirable traits. However rapid propagation of desirable genes is accompanied by simultaneous propagation of genetic mutations that may results in production losses and animal welfare problems, such as Citrullinaemia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Incidence of heterozygotes for citrullinemia has been estimated at less than 0.5% among U.S. Holsteins cattle. Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed of dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia. Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998). Pathogenesis: Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first identified in humans and later in dogs and Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle. Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). Music is a powerful force in Samoan culture, and shapes their identity with the use of resonant lyrics sung in their native tongue, song, and dance used to parallel their everyday lives and beliefs. Storytelling is as big of an element to Samoan music and dance as any rhythm produced by their instrumentation, and if it is not directly addressed through the lyrics, is implied through action. The line between daily life and music is blurred in Samoan culture through the use of their instrumentation and a vast variety of dances performed to tell their story. The contributions of many brilliant minds to the field of statistics as well as their personal lives and historical perspectives were described. The story began in a sunny afternoon in Cambridge in the 1920s. A group of scientists was having a tea party when a lady claimed that there was a difference in taste between the cups where tea was poured into milk and the cups where milk was poured into tea. Sir Ronald Fisher who became a famous statistician suggested an experiment to test the lady s hypothesis. The story then goes to the 1890s when the statistical revolution started. Karl Pearson was considered by many as the founder of mathematical statistics. Pearson discovered the skew distributions stating that they would cover any type of data scatter and he described these distributions by four numbers; mean, standard deviation, kurtosis and symmetry. Later a Polish mathematician, Jerzy Neyman showed that Pearson s skew distributions can not be used to explain all possible distributions. • 41. The Punk Rock Movement 1. INTRODUCTION This report uses Heding et al. s seven approaches to branding (2009) to investigate John Lydon s relevance, strengths and weaknesses as a brand. John Lydon also known as Johnny Rotten is a singer, musician and songwriter, famous for being the lead singer of the Sex Pistols (1975 1978) and of the Public Image Ltd (PiL) (1978 present). This report mainly focuses on Lydon s experience in PiL, which represents the longest part of his career compared to Sex Pistols relatively short life. Although the literature recognises that artists can produce powerful brands, the separation between art and business has partly obscured the potential developments of branding studies in the context of the cultural industries (Schroeder, 2006, 1291 1292). Considered the pioneer of the Punk Rock movement and one of the most influential and controversial musicians of all times, Lydon represents an interesting case study to offer new insights in the applicability of branding theories to artists. The main body of this report contains seven chapters, one for each of the seven approaches identified by Heding et al. (2009, 22 25): the identity approach, the personality approach, the consumer based approach, the economic approach, the relational approach, the community approach and the cultural approach.
