Rhetorical Devices In The Crisis By Thomas Paine
It s the middle of winter. Soldiers huddled together around the fire for warmth as their entire being
shakes from the frigid weather. The snow falls lightly upon them, but not as light as their hearts. It s
December 23, 1776, christmas is soon and America is losing the war for independence from Britain,
each soldier wishes to return home to their family, for they feel as if all is lost and there is nothing
they can possibly do to win the war. All until Thomas Paine presents the soldiers a whole hearted and
encouraging speech, The Crisis . Through the use of various Rhetorical devices, Paine is able to
achieve his goal of inspiring the soldiers and restoring the drive for independence they once withheld.
One way Paine rallies up his troops is by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paine compares the King to murderers and highwaymen on page 248 and later on, states, The cunning
of the fox is as murderous as the violence of the wolf and we ought to guard equally against both
(Paine 250). Paine uses similes to compare the King to both a fox and wolf, which helps the soldiers
view the king in a different light, making him seem like a leader who cannot be easily trusted. Paine
adds on, Is a King or a common man; my countryman, or not my countryman? (Paine 250). The use of
this rhetorical question is to make the soldiers think more in depth about how the man that rules their
country treats them. Paine succeeds at making the men aware of the menacing ruler and his
threatening actions against their homeland through the use of these rhetorical

The Emperor s Test And The Mystery Ingredient
The Emperor s Test , and The Mystery Ingredient are very similar stories but then again, they are very
different. The Emperor s Test is a folktale story with traditional language. Unlike, The Mystery
Ingredient which is a more modern version of The Emperor s Test with today s modern language.
Ling, the main character in The Emperor s Test, is conscientious, courageous, and honest. Similar to
Leona, main character in The Mystery Ingredient, she is open, fair, and modest. These characters
relate to each other by their actions and inner thoughts. Even tho the stories have some contrast, both
stories have the same moral which is honesty will be reward. The Emperor s Test is a traditional
folktale, because it s set in a distance place long ago, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is more modern because the story has been written in the present, uses modern language, and the
theme is not stated directly but it is hidden between the lines. This story is more modern because as
you read this story, they talk about things that did not exist back in the day. For example, ... Chef Fiore
s restaurant were packed every night, his cookbooks were bestsellers, and his latest tv show was
broadcasted worldwide (49). When we think of traditional stories we think of fairytales, folktales, and
myths but this one doesn t seem to be any of those, it uses today s everyday language than the original
traditional language. Therefore, we can infer this story was written in the present. The theme of The
Mystery Ingredient is the same as the previous story but it s not found as easy in the text as the first
story. The story states, The mystery ingredient is guaranteed to ruin any recipe. So I know that the
only one who actually used it is Leona! The rest of you broke the rules, and you re all disqualified.
Leona, next time you ll be hosting this show yourself! (51). Reading this quote, it doesn t give away
anything besides that Leona won her own tv show. If we think more about this sentence we can see
she won because she was honest and now she is taking over her favorite Chef s tv show. The main
idea of The Mystery Ingredient is, honesty always will be

Breakfast of Champions Essay
Breakfast of Champions When one hears the phrase Breakfast of Champions, he envisions a grinning
picture of Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan slam dunking, or Dale Earnhardt in a racecar on a box of
Wheaties, a popular breakfast cereal. A few avid Saturday Night Live fans might recall a skit
performed by James Belushi. In the skit, Belushi s Breakfast of Champions was beer, cigarettes, and
donuts. Neither of these examples are the subject of Kurt Vonnegut s Breakfast of Champions or Good
Bye Blue Morning. A Breakfast of Champions is actually a martini.
Breakfast of Champions is a work of fiction with semi autobiographical allusions. The main characters
of the book are Kilgore Trout, Dwayne Hoover, and Philboyd Sludge. ... Show more content on

He intends to hitchhike to Midland City and appear at the arts festival as a nasty old man. Along the

grand entrance as a red eyed, filthy old creature but is thwarted when the desk clerk recognizes him.
Kilgore cleans up and travels down to the cocktail lounge, where he would soon meet Dwayne
Hoover. Kilgore s luminescent shirt under the ultraviolet lights attracts Hoover to his table. Hoover
demands for Kilgore to give him the message. Hoover snatches Now It Can Be Told, one of Kilgore s
novels, from the table. The book says that there is only one being with free will, everyone else is a
robot (253). The book drives Hoover insane. He believes he is the only one with free will. He begins
attacking people in the lounge. He bites off Kilgore s middle finger. Hoover leaves the hotel and
attacks the people he meets outside until he is placed in a mental hospital. After Kilgore leaves the
hospital, he meets Philboyd Sludge, who reveals that he is Kilgore s creator. Philboyd then frees him.
Vonnegut makes several social commentaries throughout the novel. The most noticeable are color and
freedom. He describes Christopher Columbus as a white sea pirate who discovers a

A Report On The Emergency Department
S (situation): Hi, my name Kelsey and I am a nurse in the emergency department. I am calling about
Shannon O Reilly s most recent laboratory results.
B (background): Ms. O Reilly is 24 years old who came to the emergency in a DKA crisis earlier this
morning and has been DM1 since she was 3 years old.
A (assessment): Ms. O Reilly s vital signs are temperature of 37.5 C, pulse of 112, blood pressure of
102/52, and respirations of 24. Her respirations are still deep but have a regular rhythm. She has a
CBS of 8.1 and regular insulin running as per orders. The lab work shows uncompensated metabolic
acidosis with no hypoxia. Ms. O Reilly s neurological status has improved with a GSC of 13. Her
dehydration is being treated with NS containing 40mEQ KCL/L running at 200ml/hr and potassium
levels maintained at 4.
R (recommendation): Do you want to continue with the current care plan continued with frequent CBS
and potassium monitoring?
Describe your rationale for the recommendations made. Shannon s glucose levels are still high (above
6.1 mmol/L) thus still needs the insulin drip (Robbins et al., 2010). Administration of insulin and
efforts made to correct metabolic acidosis forces potassium into the cells causing hypokalemia (Bopp,
2010). Thus, even though the potassium is within therapeutic levels (3.5 5 mmol/L) there is a high
chance that Shannon may experience hypokalemia and the administration of NS with potassium is
necessary (Bopp, 2010).

The Signal Data Obtained Through The Measurement Phase
The signal data obtained in the measurement phase is then used to approximate the position of the
target node. Since, due to many factors range data often gets attenuated by noisy signal measurements,
optimization methods are to be employed to filter the noise and arrive at a more definite position
estimate. Lateration:When ranges between anchor nodes and the mobile node can be determined,
lateration is used to estimate position [35]. For two dimensional localization, three range
measurements from known positions (anchor nodes) are required. Radius of a circle of each category

the intersection is the location of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most common outputs include: Absolute positions: Positions with coordinate s information which
could be directly mapped to physical space. The absolute location could either be represented in
discrete space as cells or grids or in continuous space with coordinates. Relative positions: The
geometrical relative location by angle or distance to certain reference point (RP), in other word, the
absolute position of the user could be obtained only if absolute positions of RP are known. Logical
positions: Identifying user s position without information directly corresponding to physical space but
associated with certain patterns including motions, activities and landmarks. Physical location could
then be given by retrieving associate spatial features of those patterns. The output of a localization
system is closely related to the methodology or algorithms the system uses to localize. The calculation
of positions is the core engine of localization. We examine various existing methods and sort them
into following categories: Geometric: System based on geometric calculation including triangulation,
trilateration and multilateration, to give user s relative position to certain RP. When the absolute
positions of RP are known, the absolute position of user could be given. Inertial navigation system

Essay on Benefits and Effects of Different Types of Training
People often think that bodybuilding is the best way to show off muscle strength. Instead, there are
smarter ways to gain strength and show off strength and it can be done in more effective ways than
straight weight lifting. In this report, I will show the benefits and effects of different types of training.
Strong muscles, being essential to good health, can be built and toned through many different forms of
exercise. Three primary methods of strength training are traditional exercise, alternative exercise and
other miscellaneous methods of training. Traditional exercise is mainly things that you will find at
your normal gym like weights, treadmills and other common equipment. Alternative exercise includes
group classes and sports. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trainers can also give you exercises to do without any equipment at all, so you can do them at home.
Another thing that trainers do is mix pieces of equipment, like making you use weights while on an
exercise machine. Also, if personal trainers are too expensive or hard to get, group classes are a great
option. You will get most of the same exercises, just in a group environment. Group classes are also
great because you can be inspired t(o work harder, faster, more frequently, etc.) by other people in the
class. Alternative exercise is another option for muscle strengthening. Good forms of alternative
exercise are group classes. The classes do not necessarily need to be group exercise classes, there are
many other classes available that will strengthen you. Yoga is one of those classes. Yoga not only
stretches your muscles out so they have more room to grow, you also usually work in a warm or hot
environment, which makes your muscles work harder. Yoga involves balance, concentration, and
relaxation. These things are all necessary and relevant to muscle strengthening because if you do too
much strengthening in a short amount of time, like a week, you could possibly get injured. Pilates is
another class that is great for strengthening. Pilates is a strengthening class that works smaller, but
essential muscles in your body. Pilates also has lots of great core exercises involved. Another form of
group classes is martial arts. Martial arts makes your body work in many

My Spiritual Autobiography
My Spiritual Autobiography
How did your relationship with God begin (when and where)?
It started off slow and by slow I mean really slow. My father was a deacon and my mother was the
Sunday school teacher for the kids and adults, My Spirituality was something I don t think much about
as a kid. I was more in to Power Ranger and Ninja Turtle that anything else. My mom and dad tried to
make god a part of my life but it don t work. I was just a little kid and all I want was to play.
That was my spiritual life until the day my dad dead. It was a just other day and my dad was in his
favorite chair and then the next thing I know he hit the floor. The doctor said that it was a massive
heart attack but to a 9 year old my dad is gone because god ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

place in the world and other factor was the hate I had toward god. The death of my father was hard for
me for so many years. All the question I want to ask him all the thing I want to do with him I never got
a change to do. This made me want to know why god would take a father form his son whom look up
to him. My hate toward god was one factor to because the more I hated him the more I would find
myself look in the word trying to find out why god would take my father. The most important factor I
think was the fact that I was a teenage and was feeling like I don t belong to anything. I was good at
sport and have a good time at that. I know there was more to me than just sports. I was quiet and shy
and look like I was mad at the world all the time but I know that was more to me.
How did your family of origin affect your relationship with God? My family origin had God all in it. I
don t know this fact for a long time. I know my mom and my dad spiritual life because I saw it

Themes And Alienation In Bartleby The Scrivener By Herman...
In Herman Melville s short story, Bartleby the Scrivener the author portrays the action and reaction of
his characters to form three important themes: Alienation, man s desire to avoid conflict, and man s
desire to keep a free conscience. Some readers may infer that Herman is giving them an insight on
specifically the way Bartleby mind works. However through Bartleby s responses and reactions we
learn more about the narrator, and is ironically where the themes arise. From the time Herman wrote
this short story in 1853 to todays society in 2015 we can still see the appearance of theses themes.
Alienation is an important literary theme that can be found throughout Hermans story, Bartleby the
Scrivener. It appears near Bartleby s death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bartleby, I owe you twelve dollars on account; here are thirty two; the off twenty are yours. Will you

tenants of the office try to put the responsibility of dealing with Bartleby back on the narrator, but they
are denied and eventually have Bartleby removed from the premises by law officers. The narrator feels
as if he has to tend to Bartleby because he put him in prison. The narrator pays the prison employee to
take extra care of Bartleby. Though the narrator made several efforts to clear his conscious with good
deeds he never is satisfied. In current day 2015 people are always trying to smooth over arguments
and conflicts to maintain a good person . On the other hand some citizens feel it is there human duty to
tend to others and thats what makes their conscious clean. The narrator in Bartleby the Scrivener leans
more towards the first example because he did Bartleby wrong and took care of him to make his
conscious clean.
In Herman Melville s short story, Bartleby the Scrivener, the reader is left with the impression that all
people, including lawyers, have compassion for other humans, and at some point, that compassion will
show through. The writer also uses three main themes in his writing: Alienation, man s desire to avoid

The Writing Of The Barbarian
The barbarian snarled, a war cry bursting from his lips as he ambled toward me. His leather boots
kicked dust up from the arena floor as he moved in a slow circle, trying to get his back to the sun and
diminish my line of sight. It was a good trick, but there was just one problem with that. I knew what
he was trying to do.
Even if I could keep him from blinding me, that hulking axe of his would do some major damage. If
he hit me with that, no amount of blocking would keep my head from getting caved in like a casaba
melon. Unfortunately, I was only good up close. I d have to engage him sooner or later, and since his
arms were longer than mine, I d have to be quick. Even a cursory blow from him would mean trouble
since the wardings on his gauntlets let me know he had ogre strength.
That said, I d done this dance a million times before. The key was to not get frazzled. No, I had to stay
calm. If I was calm, I could win. At least in theory. Unfortunately, it was always easier to tell yourself
to be calm than to actually calm down. On the other hand, it was always a lot easier to piss the other
guy off.
Have you heard the one about your mother? I asked, a grin melting across my face as I stepped back,
trying to put space between me and his big axe. The muscles in his legs twitched as I spoke, letting me
know he was about to attack. You probably have, it s huge.
Another snarl tore from his throat as he leapt toward me, huge twin bladed axe cleaving through the
air in a

Lord Capulet Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare presents many different aspects of Lord Capulet s personality in a
wide variety of ways. In Act 1 Scene 2, Shakespeare employs the metaphor let two more summers
wither in their pride / ere we may think her ripe to be a bride . In this metaphor, Shakespeare describes
Juliet as a fruit. This reference to the natural world presents Juliet as beautiful while verb such as
wither and ripe present Juliet as immature and naïve, not ready for the serious event of marriage.
Furthermore, like a fruit can easily be bruised, Shakespeare shows how Juliet can easily be damaged
and how Juliet is powerless in her choices and will be chosen by a man, like how a man picks a fruit
from a tree, mirrored in the Elizabethan Patriarchal society when women were powerless and it was
the men who possessed all the power. However, a contemporary audience would react very different to
this, possibly outraged due to Juliet s lack of choice in her life. In addition, it is possible to say that
Shakespeare choosing to rhyme bride and pride reflects Lord Capulet s feelings towards Juliet
marrying. However, later on in the extract, Lord Capulet says how those who are too soon marred are
those too early made . The word marred has two meaning, married and ruined so in this line,
Shakespeare shows how Lord Capulet is fearful of Juliet s premature marriage as he doesn t want
Juliet to become ruined, alluding to his own unhappy marriage with Lady Capulet, and how Lord

The Pros And Cons Of Illegal Immigration
Even though illegals work hard, forced integration as a whole ought to be terminated. Because
integration pushes poverty inward, it systematically liquefies private property into the common stock
punishing taxpayers and rewarding tax consumers leading to cultural disintegration.
Hans Hermann Hoppe elaborates on the subject of forced integration in his 2001 discourse,
Democracy: The God That Failed: Presently, whenever the central government permits immigration, it
allows foreigners to proceed literally on government owned roads to any of its residents doorsteps,
regardless of whether or not these residents desire such proximity to foreigners. Thus, to a large extent
free immigration is forced integration...If one is prevented from expelling others from one s property
whenever their presence is deemed undesirable, ill behavior, misconduct, and outright rotten
characters are encouraged (rendered less costly). The results of forced integration are only too visible.
All social relations whether in private or business life have become increasingly egalitarian (everyone
is on a first name basis with everyone else) and uncivilized.
In 2006, the number of illegal immigrants that entered the country totaled 3 million, nearly tripling the
amount of legal immigration that year. In the present age, immigration is discussed within the confines
of, and inside the parameters set by Marxist influenced egalitarianism. Methodically, these sentiments
have been thoroughly refuted.

A Very Brief Biography of Alexander Dubcek
Alexander Dubček was the leader of Czechoslovakia in 1968. He was a communist, yet he wanted to
transform Czechoslovakia into a democratic nation. He was born in Uhrovek, Slovakia on November
27th, 1921. His family moved to the Soviet Union in 1925. Dubček received an early education in
Kirgiziya and became a loyal communist. In 1944, he moved back to Slovakia and secretly joined the
Communist Party. After World War II, very loyal communists were appointed to high government
posts. Moscow wanted all these countries to be loyal without question. Dubček was not at the point to
be offered these jobs, but did become a Communist Party official in 1949. He was then sent to
Political School from 1955 till 1958. When he returned, he became a Chief secretary of the regional
committee in Bratislava in 1958. Dubček was known as a reliable member who did not want to mess
up the system. He eventually became a full member of the Central Committee s Presidium in 1962.
After he attained this position, he permitted himself to be known as the mortal who would succeed
Antonin Novotnÿ. Novotnÿ could not solve the very difficult economic situation that Czechoslovakia
was facing. Dubček succeeded Novotnÿ on January 5th, 1968. In early 1968, the people of
Czechoslovakia were given more freedom. This arrived as a shock to most Communist leaders in
Moscow, since earlier he had been known as a devoted communist. Soon after this he publicly

The removal of Confederate monuments in some cities has stirred up intense controversy because of
white supremacist protesting the removal of the statues. These white supremacist are protesting the
removal of the statues because when they think of the Confederacy they think back in history when
the whites are firmly in control. So that s how the thought of believing whites should have more power

because they believe that by removing the statues, you re erasing the south s history. They say the

A Summary Of Living Beyond Limits
Amy Purdy s TED talk, Living Beyond Limits , empowers people to push past their boundaries. She
encourages people to embrace their differences and obstacles in life that would normally set them
back. Purdy explained that after she had graduated from high school, she moved from a large desert to
somewhere that snowed, and she became a massage therapist. She finally felt in control of her own
life. Unfortunately, this was all for a very short time because one day soon after, she left her job early
because of what she thought was the flu. Realistically, Purdy had contracted bacterial meningitis, and
was soon laying in the hospital on life support. She lost both of her legs from the knee down, hearing
in her left ear, and both of her kidneys. After she healed, she tried on a new pair prosthetic legs, and
she grew frustrated and immediately felt as though her life would be restricted and confined forever,
that her new legs would impact her life in a very negative way. After a few months of moping and
feeling sorry for herself, she started to view her position in a new light. She decided she must embrace
her new legs, and learn how to work with them, instead of working against them. She found many
benefits to having prosthetic legs, and it made her realize that her legs weren t a curse. After realizing
all of the positives, Purdy was able to continue with her life, and as time went on, she overcame even
more obstacle by staying positive. Four months after Purdy s health scare,

911 First Responders
This paper is for the people that seem to do great things for the community, but receive such little
recognition in return. 911 first responders (dispatchers, Firefighters, police officers, etc.) is the
epitome of a lifesaver . These people choose to risk their lives and give up time with their family to
save yours. Yet, believe it or not they receive little compensation for the work they do. Having
personal experience in the matter as my mother is a 911 dispatcher. Not only does the job take a toll
on these people financially, but also their physical and mental health are at risk. As we should make
sure that the people that selflessly care about our well being be taken care of. Most people are willing
to pay $200 for a concert ticket, but would gripe over paying that in medical bills. Hopefully, after
making this statement people will gain understanding and compassion for the modern day heroes.

A Brief Look at the Philosophy of Descartes Essay
When Descartes created the Method of Doubt his main mission was to develop a method that would
bring him to the real truth. It was important that his initial beliefs were absolute. If any of them were
in doubt, then it put the entire structure of knowledge at risk. Thus, Descartes developed a method to
get rid of those beliefs of which he could not be completely being confident in them. This process is
called the Method of Doubt. The first action to do while using the Method of Doubt is using the
skeptical Method of Doubt. Then one must use the optimistic phase where one can restore the
arrangement of knowledge based upon the truths that remained after taking these steps of his Method
of Doubt. The main question with Descartes s method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s such a long period of time we do not remember what was going on through the mind. Descartes
then mentions maybe we were not even thinking at all. His goal is to discovery a footing on which all
other knowledge can be collected. He agrees with Plato that knowledge needs to have certainty. But,
then again, disagrees with the fact that the real world is not knowable. Descartes questions to stop
thinking are to no longer exist? Descartes would state that even though we may not recall what we
were dreaming, we were definitely having something going on throughout our thoughts. Throughout
our life there are many things we cannot look back on because we do not remember what we were
thinking at that time. It is possible that being woken in the middle of the night by a loud noise and be
right in the middle of a crazy thought and still we might not remember a thing. Even though we cannot
remember any thought before we wake, we know that there was because we heard the noise and woke
up. If we look back on our past there are times we do not remember. For example, we do not
remember being born or events that occurred while we were infants but that does not mean that we
were not thinking at that time. One can assume that thinking means that there is a physical being but
Descartes was still not so certain

Metabolic Alkalosis Lab Report
Metabolic alkalosis is a primary increase in serum bicarbonate (HCO3 ) concentration. This occurs as
a consequence of a loss of H+ from the body or a gain in HCO3 . In its pure form, it manifests as
alkalemia (pH 7.40). As a compensatory mechanism, metabolic alkalosis leads to alveolar
hypoventilation with a rise in arterial carbon dioxide tension (PaCO2), which diminishes the change in
pH that would otherwise occur.
Normally, arterial PaCO2 increases by 0.5 0.7 mm Hg for every 1 mEq/L increase in plasma
bicarbonate concentration, a compensatory response that is very quick. If the change in PaCO2 is not
within this range, then a mixed acid base disturbance occurs. For example, if the increase in PaCO2 is
more than 0.7 times the increase in bicarbonate, then metabolic alkalosis coexists with primary
respiratory acidosis. Likewise, if the increase in PaCO2 is less than the expected change, then a
primary respiratory alkalosis is also present. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remember that an elevated serum bicarbonate concentration may also be observed as a compensatory
response to primary respiratory acidosis. However, a bicarbonate concentration greater than 35 mEq/L
is almost always caused by metabolic alkalosis.
Metabolic alkalosis is diagnosed by measuring serum electrolytes and arterial blood gases. If the
etiology of metabolic alkalosis is not clear from the clinical history and physical examination,
including drug use and the presence of hypertension, then a urine chloride ion concentration can be
obtained. Calculation of the serum anion gap may also help to differentiate between primary metabolic
alkalosis and metabolic compensation for respiratory acidosis. (See

calls before realizing his only means of escape is the Special World. Sometimes the hero refuses the
call to action and the adventure. This is when the hero backs out of the challenge due to insecurity,

This is when the hero finally commits to the journey. The hero is finally ready to cross the gateway
into the Special World. The hero is faced with a problem and must continue into the Special World
where there is no turning back. Internal problems like mental problems with the hero themselves, or
external forces like a kidnapping or a war may also cause the hero to triumph forward in his journey.
After crossing the threshold, the hero is tested with enemies and learning the rules of the Special
World. Here, the hero finds out who can be trusted and finds allies along the way. To prepare himself
for greater challenges, the hero tests his skills and powers, and receives more training from his mentor.
In approach to the cave, the hero gets ready to face his biggest challenge. This leads to the central

Honor And Certainty In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet struggles to restore honour and certainty in the
kingdom. Hamlet s father, the true King of Denmark was murdered by Claudius so that Claudius could
become the king, this was seen as dishonorable as Claudius was the King s brother, and the right to the
throne was not his. Hamlet finds out about the murder and feels he must avenge his father to restore
honour and certainty in the kingdom.
The present King, Claudius, is questioning Hamlet s odd behaviour because he feels Hamlet s new and
strange behaviour could be harmful to him and his position. So he asks Polonius, the Lord
Chamberlain, to spy on Hamlet to resolve the matter. While hiding behind an arras in Gertrude s room
to listen to the dialogue between Ophelia and Hamlet, he reveals his location by calling out for help,
Hamlet realizing there is someone behind the tapestry and suspecting it to be Claudius withdraws his
sword and stabs the hidden Polonius resulting in polonius s death, which assisted in ophelia going
mad, and also Laertes, Polonius s son seeking revenge on hamlet, which makes Hamlet s quest for
honour and certainty even harder to complete. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal Reflection Paper
My son, Ricky is now six years old and he has undergone many milestones and changes to be who he
is today. All throughout Ricky s life I have worked on his intelligence, morals, and social skills so he
can become a valuable member of society. In regards to Ricky s intelligence, I have worked on his
ability to read and his sleep habits which correlate with his intelligence. In regards to Ricky s morals, I
have stressed the value of honesty and treating others kindly. Lastly, Ricky is practicing sociodramatic
play and participating in recreational activities to gain social skills. When Ricky was born I vowed to
improve his intelligence. This is now increasingly important since Ricky is in school. I have been
advancing Ricky s intelligence through practicing private speech. Since kindergarten, Ricky has been
having difficulty with phonological awareness and reading. Even in the first grade, Ricky is unable to
read independently, however, his teacher is not concerned. I, on the contrary, am concerned, so I made
the choice for Ricky to receive tutoring twice a week. While receiving assistance in reading and
writing, I have emphasized to the tutor how I wish for them to praise and practice private speech with
Ricky. Private speech is when the child speaks to themselves when completing a task, reading a
passage, and more. Ricky can practice this tactic with his tutor through reading out loud, stating all the
steps necessary to complete the activity and more verbal actions. My choice for Ricky practicing
private speech is because Berk and Meyers state, Children who freely use private speech during a
challenging activity are more attentive and involved and show better task performance (323). Ricky s
increased engaged attitude and attentiveness will allow him to perform better, therefore improving his
reading skills. When I was around Ricky s age, I was diagnosed as dyslexic and I fear that he will have
this learning disability. I, too, was unable to read independently in the first grade, however, my choice
for Ricky to practice private speech will assist in his academic performance. However, I am
embracing the influence of nature for Ricky, because with early detection and actions plasticity,

Reward Management
Effective Reward Management Effective reward management is critical to organizational
performance. Effective reward management, as a system, is the most powerful tool available to
reinforce organizational values and translate them into employee actions (read behavior). Here, the
organization does not only refer to a business structure, but any institution (or activity) that involves
people working together, and requires their voluntary contributions in order to operate successfully.
Whether it is a school, a hospital, an NGO, a government agency, a political party, or a religious
foundation, all require a matrix through which the performance of its individual members can ... Show

Furthermore, Schuler and Jackson (as cited in Esteves Caetano, 2010) state that the focal point of
success of companies today is centered on the effective use of human resources. In today s knowledge
based economy, innovation has become the principal source of competitive advantages in global
business; the success of firms now depends more on their intelligence capability such as employee
creativity than traditional material assets (Amabile et al., as cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sánchez,
2011). The creative capability of individual and collective knowledge workers is the fuel that powers
innovation in firms. While creativity leads to the production of new and useful ideas in any domain,
innovation is the successful implementation of those creative ideas within an organization (McLean,
as cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sanchez 2011). In highly dynamic business environments,
innovation and creativity have become crucial for creating competitive advantages for the firm. People
are the most vital resource of an innovative organization, and all innovation based firms, in order to
succeed, have to learn how to manage, motivate and reward their people (Gupta and Singhal, as cited
in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sanchez 2011). Various experimental studies indicate that higher economic
compensation correlates positively with increased innovative behavior by employees (Eisenberger.,

Essay on Guns in the Cockpit
Guns in the Cockpit
On the morning of September 11, 2001, four airplanes were hijacked and two of them, brought the
collapse of the World Trade Center towers in New York City. As a result of these attacks on the United
States, airports have come to the realization that the only way to prevent another hijacking is by
strengthening the security on aircrafts through the cockpit. In order to secure the cockpit and ensure
the safety of the passengers on board, guns were introduced as a possible solution in the event of an
emergency situation like those that took place in September of 2001.
The Transportation Security Administration head John Magaw, announced the administrations position
that they are against guns in cockpits and a pilot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the craft was in the air, the terrorists took the initiative and stormed into the cockpit and took
over the controls, turning the aircraft into a guided missile (CBS 1). Increasing security immediately
became an important aspect of airports shortly there after. Adequate security ensures the safety of the
people in the air and citizens on the ground below. It is expected by passengers, that they are boarding
a craft that will land safely at their intended destination. An aircraft should be a safe place for
everyone and even though every person that enters the airport goes through the required security
checkpoints, there is a small fraction of error. Someone will get by with a potential weapon and board
the plane along with it; therefore, the captains should have some form of a rear view mirror (Press 2).
One of the many proposals made since the attacks is installing video cameras in the cabin to monitor
passenger activity for any possible terrorist actions. A pilot should be aware of what is happening to
the plane and the passengers on board at all times.
In a situation where someone is trying to hijack an airplane, there are three factors needed to be
assessed. Does the terrorist have a weapon, are they attacking alone, and is he or she a trained fighter
in the case of a Federal Air Marshal interfering (APSA 2)? In the incident of the World Trade Center
attacks, the

Cultural Bound Syndromes ( Cbs )
The subject of cultural bound syndromes (CBS) is one of the most interesting of the study of medical
anthropology and psychology. The term is used to refer to particular conditions or symptom
complexes, cognitive, behavioral or affective, which are apparently unique to specific cultures
(Balhara, 2011). These culture related specific conditions may occur due to a particular set of
environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of
occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. The way they are experienced is heavily
influenced by their culture. They range in deadliness from causing comparatively insignificant and
perhaps harmless medical complications to grave ones and sometimes ... Show more content on

Several of these disorders have however been contested by modern medicine as being fallacious in
their label as culture bound while others have held their ground as fact.
Examples of these cultural conditions include Kuru, which is a lethal, incurable, degenerative West
African (predominant in Guinea) disease affecting the central nervous system. It is caused by a prion
found in humans and said to be transmitted via endocannibalism. Another condition is the Windigo
psychosis which referred to a paranoia characterized by cannibalistic psychological predispositions
among Native American tribes such as Cree, Ojibwa and Chippewa due to food scarcity during winter.
Those affected would suffer severe anxiety, sometimes resulting in suicide to avoid turning into the
flesh eating Windigo monsters. Yet another of the reproductive kind with a psychological connection
is the Oriental (mainly Indian) Dhat (O Neil, 2010).
The Dhat Syndrome
This culture restricted condition has been mainly associated with the Asian continent, the Indian
subcontinent in particular, and is also known as the sexual psychosis of the Orient or the anxiety of
semen loss. It is quite common, especially among the Indian people and it mainly occurs in young
men from their late teens to their forties. The word dhat is derived from dhatu , a Sanskrit word,
meaning elixir constituting the body (Mehta, De, Balachandran, 2009). In clinical psychology, it is

I. Introduction Macronutrients are a group of compounds that humans consume in the largest
quantities and thus provide the bulk of energy that they consume and use for everyday functioning.
The three types of macronutrients are protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Fatty acids are separated into
three categories: saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. The unsaturated fatty acids are
known to play a role in cognitive function, learning, and behavior.1, 2 Omega 3 fatty acid is one of the

In most cases, students who are not proficient in reading or spelling during the early school years
often have difficulty in other subject matters throughout their education. All factors of education
including nutrition, should be considered when evaluating ways to improve learning capabilities in
children. In terms of nutrition, omega 3 is vitally important during gestation and infancy for early
brain development. However, omega 3 fatty acids are present in a limited number of foods and the
predicted intake by American children worldwide is commonly low. Omega 3 fatty acids have been
highlighted in research to better understand the association between nutritional deficiencies and
learning difficulties. In the event that a child has an omega 3 deficiency related to poor intake or
absorption, it is likely that their learning and/or behavior would see benefits from improving their
omega 3 status. There is clearly an interest and a number of research studies that are investigating the
effects of omega 3 fatty acids on cognition, learning and behavior in healthy children. Overall, the
studies included in this review generally agree that making improvements in a child s fatty acid intake
may initiate brain activity changes that are observable in regards to learning and behavior. The results
of neurophysiologic tests showed a measureable change in the brains activity as a result of omega 3

The problem usually with wrongful convictions is impulsivity. The fact that the person on trial is a
person of color drastically improves the chances of being convicted without going through all motives
of an investigation, which obviously are given to white people because of their lower chance of
getting convicted wrongly. This is a prominent bias, that a person of color is always guilty of their
crime. These findings show that people of color and white people are not being treated the same in the
eyes of the law. How is it possible to feel safe with all of these findings stacked up against you? It just
isn t feasible. Kenneth Rouse still remains on death row to this day.
Some possible solutions to this is simply more diversity in the judicial bench. America needs to have a
criminal justice system that represents the diversity of America. When people think of America, they
think of the many faces that occupy our country. Unfortunately, this is only embraced by some. It is
impossible for someone to completely understand all circumstances of someone s situation without
first experiencing similar or the same realities. A white person simply does not know what it is like to
be a black person in society. This goes along with the concept of privilege, something everyone has in
different amounts, and something in which few people will acknowledge. This goes along with
gender, and sexuality. A center for American

Introduction Throughout the course of this year s studies, much attention has been devoted to the
importance of understanding the value of a business s value chain. The foundations for a successful
business can perhaps emerge in a number of different areas, but there is little doubt that an optimal

Defining the value chain A value chain adds value to raw materials as they pass through the
production process and then, inevitably, through the marketing and sales process. In a broad sense, it
is about identifying value via identifying areas of comparative advantage and how the organization
can bolster its market standing and its overall value and impact. It may also be noted that the value
chain is, for all intents and purposes, all internal activities and processes within the organization that
yield outputs in one form or another. It entails (or should entail) everything from channel objectives to
distribution strategy to marketing program supports to supplier configuration and collaboration to
communication plans (Burrows et al, 2012). Porter (1985) earned international fame by offering a very
comprehensive and insightful overview of the value chain. He took a process view of organizations
and perceived organizations as being, for all intents and purposes, a system (with sub systems and
even further sub systems) that take inputs and transform them into outputs. There are transformational
processes that manifest themselves all along the value chain and, ultimately, can determine cost and
profit outcomes. The acquisition of resources, and the consumption of resources, largely determines
how an organization finds value and optimizes it. In the view of Porter (1985), the

Two Types Of Contraction
Types of contractions
Isometric: During isometric contractions, muscles stay in a static position and this helps muscular
endurance as you will be working on the muscles endurance on how long it will be able to last whilst
static. For example when you stop halfway through a press up or if you are doing a plank, these are
good examples as you have to stay in an isolated position. Also another example of this would be
dorsal raises in a static position, when you hold your head up and your legs up when you are laid on
your front. This type of muscle work is easy to undertake but it can cause sharp increases in blood
pressure as the blood flow is increased and it is also rapidly leads to fatigue.

therefore you would need it at a suitable weight to do these contractions correctly. If you had it at a
high weight you would get worn out and start struggling at the end of the set of repetitions. An
everyday example of isokinetic example would be doing your teeth as you would be doing it at the

Everyone will have to deal with the death of a family member or friend, as well as his or her own
mortality. The certainty of the end of life can be very stressful and overwhelming. Many aspects of
caregiving, treatment, and pain management are all part of the journey towards the end of one s life.
Many people are unclear about pain and symptom management during the end of life. Some believe
that if you choose to medicate for pain then they are hastening or responsible for the death of their
loved one. Others believe that all measures should be taken to help prolong their loved one s life. No

In order for Mrs. S to obtain optimum pain management, she required multiple medications. As she
became progressively worse, the hospice nurse monitored her pain, pain relief, and adverse effects.
Mrs. S often resisted taking medications that might sedate her, because she was the primary caregiver
for her 90 year old mother who had late stage dementia. Mrs. S s own primary caregiver was her
husband of 45 years. He was very distressed about her illness and did not know what to do as his wife
had always taken care of everything.
Pain is understood to be a whole person experience that has not only a physical source but also
psychosocial and spiritual dimensions. Therefore, comprehensive pain relief must include
interventions that target psychological, spiritual, and social distress. There are many complementary
therapies for pain. Heat, cold, and massage are helpful in treating physical pain. Psychological
approaches such as relaxation, distraction, meditation, and attention to spiritual distress are methods
for addressing psychological pain. Complementary therapies offer family members opportunities to
comfort the patient at the end of life. In the case of Mrs. S, involving her husband in positioning her,
use of massage, playing calming music, and reading from her Bible provided an opportunity for him
to replace his sense of helplessness with a sense of helpfulness.

According to an article written by Dr. Charlotte Houldcroft from the University of Cambridge,
researchers have created a new study suggesting that the Neanderthals from Europe may have been
infected with diseases carried out of Africa by modern humans, called Homo sapiens. Since both of
the species are hominin, it would have been easy for pathogens to jump from one population to
another. The article is suggesting that this new finding could have been one factor that contributed to

Enlightenment Of Jainism Research Paper
Students of Jainism, believe that their soul will always be reincarnated after life. However, your
reincarnation is dependent on your past lives. Furthermore, if your past life was harmonious with the
beliefs and righteousness, you will be reincarnated into a better life; consequently, if you lead a
negative life you will fall back in your reincarnation. Your soul is capable of achieving a certain
amount of good karma that will lead you to enlightenment and possibly even stop you from being
reincarnated again. This also works with negative karma; if throughout life you are rude and only care
for yourself you may end up under the world.

An example of someone who accomplished what Jains are all hoping to accomplish was Mahavira. It
was foretold that Marhavira was born into a wealthy family; however let go of that path. Letting go of
his fortune, Marhavira focused on self discipline and deep meditation. He was ridiculed by the other
villagers, but did not care. Soon, he would pull out all of his hair and leave it all behind. Also, it was
said that the only thing he owned was a loincloth that he would lose. Marhavira left the city to
meditate for many years with no possessions, he let go of everything he once owned: clothes, money,
possessions, even his own hair. Mahavira no longer cared for the materials in his life, and left the city
and was able to reach enlightenment through mediation and relinquishment.
Although the path of Jainism is a difficult one, those who practice Jainism have the hope of reaching
this supreme enlightenment like Mahavira. They hope that one day, they will have enough positive
karma to allow them to surpass the ability to be reincarnated. Many practice jainism through extreme
situations. Some will only take a few steps a day due to the fact that they may accidentally step or

to spend thirty minutes learning a list of thirty words. The next day they were asked to recall those

Context Dependent Memory in Environments with Hot and Cold Temperatures
Context dependent memory is the concept that things are often best recalled in the same environment
that they were learned. Smith and Vela (2001) provide four hypotheses as to how context dependent
memory works. They appear as follows; reinstatement is the idea that memory is better when testing
occurs in a reinstated environment as opposed to a different environment (Smith Vela, 2001) and this
is true across all studies (Smith Vela, 2001), outshining implies that non contextual cues when used for
guiding memory often diminish or eliminate the effects of contextual cues (Smith Vela, 2001),
Overshadowing is the concept that if one s incidental environmental context is suppressed during
learning, then environmental information will not be encoded and stored in memory, thereby reducing
or eliminating effects of experimenter manipulated environments on memory (Smith Vela, 2001), and
finally mental reinstatement

To formulate a differentiated business level strategy Starbucks must evaluate their customer needs,
customer groups, and their unique competencies. This will be the way that Starbucks differentiates
themselves from other firms competing in the coffee and specialty products industry. Starbucks has
effectively differentiated themselves from their competitors in a manner that establishes brand loyalty
and satisfies customers. This level of differentiation would not be possible without working together
to achieve a common goal: offering customers a premium product while striving to obtain a profit.
Using the five forces model of competition Starbucks provides quality coffee with a unique
experience, which separates them from their competition. The new single cup brewing coffee line is
spanning differentiation and low cost leadership. While it is at a lower cost than a normal cup of
Starbuck coffee and convenient for home coffee users, it is still unique from other products in the
market. The gifts that are sold in the Starbuck chains are in the focused differentiation category as they
accommodate the coffee lover, and are unique items found only in the Starbucks stores.
The specialty industry consists of chain restaurants that offer primarily specialty or gourmet products.
To compete effectively, firms must be

Proposed Education Policy
Bernie Sander s Proposed Education Policy is a Good Idea
In America, college tuition cost have skyrocketed since the middle 20th century,
rising by 1,120 percent between 1978 and 2012, ( Resnikoff). Tution at selective private colleges and
universities has risen by two or three percent annually, which is more than the rate of inflation says
Ronald Ehrenberg the Irving M. Ives Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations and Economics at
Cornell University, director of the Cornell Higher Education Research Institute, and co director of
Cornell s Institute for Labor Market Policies. People are concerned about the increasing cost of
tuition. Many people can not go to college because it is too expensive, others leave with mountains of

A free higher education would allow graduating students to start their lives , instead of being held
back by debt. On average, students who graduated in 2015 have a debt of about $35,051 person, and
these numbers are going to continue to rise unless something is done (Resnikoff). Most students that
just graduated from college do not start out at a high paying job, so it will take them years to pay off
their student loans. Interest rates on student loans are higher than on auto loans. It makes no sense that
millions of college graduates are forced to pay interest rates of five to seven percent or more for
decades (Sanders). This is counter productive to our country because students go to college so they
can make more money and live lives that many people without a college education cannot afford to
live. Students cannot begin their lives if they are held back by the burden of student loans. If elected
president Sanders will prevent the federal government from profiteering on the backs of college
students and use [ government] money instead to significantly lower student loan interest rates
(Sanders). The Sanders plan is beneficial to all young Americans who dream of going to college, but
cannot because of its cost. The lowering of loan prices would be one step closer to providing free
education to all Americans. The

The Bystander Effect In Night By Elie Wiesel
38 people witnessed Catherine Genovese get stabbed, in three separate attacks, over a period of 35
minutes in Queens. Even as the assailant returned twice to finish off the job people still did nothing to
intervene. This is called the bystander effect. This is a psychological phenomenon that describes the
decrease in a person s likliness to help someone in need when there are other witnesses around. As
found in most everyday crimes, the bystander effect was also found during the Holocaust. In Night, by
Elie Wiesel, the bystander effect is revealed due to one s inability to help others in need because of
fear they will be persecuted as well. The Jews of Sighet did nothing to help the foreigners being

I kept silent. In fact, I thought of stealing away in order not to suffer the blows (Wiesel 54). This is a
prime example of the bystander effect because it shows a witness that is frozen and unable to act for a
certain reason. In this situation Elie can not help his father because he knows that if he does, then he
will suffer a beating as well. He would rather slip away then help his father in order to escape a
beating. Fear locks Elie as a bystander unable to act but only watch. Prisoners during the holocaust
normally could do nothing to help family, friends, and stranger who were falling victim to the Nazi
regime. Many times they had to watch as their fellow prisoners were beaten and killed but could do
nothing about it due to their fear. Elie describe what happened at the gallows when the young boy was
hung, Then came the march past the victims. The two men were no longer alive. Their tongues were
hanging out, swollen and bluish. But the third rope was still moving the child, too light, was still
breathing... (Weisel 65). After the execution each prisoner had to walk past the boy, but yet again
could do nothing but watch him die. They knew that if they help the child then they would either be
beaten or even worse, killed. These prisoners once again fall victim to the bystander effect because
they are unable to help someone in need because of their own

The Importance Of Gothic Litrature In Literature
Humans actually seek to be scared. Since 2005, the amount of money spent on Halloween has doubled
to 7.5 billion dollars. What is the reason for this sudden increase in spending? According to the
Allegre Ringos interview Dr. Ker Scare Specialist discussed that dopamine is released into the brain
and produces a natural high. Which is what some people like thrill seekers love that feeling when they
go on a rollarcoaster or skydive. Of course it all just depends on the person since some people HATE
the feeling of being scared or just arent interested in it. People are sometimes fascinated with things
that scare us like monsters or even death, since we don t know what happens after we die. Rather some
get scared from reading scary stories, as a way to get scared without having to go out without to be
frightened since the stories give us the chills. When reading scary stories its as if you are going into a
whirl of mysterious, disturbing, and frighting feelings. Poems like ( The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe )or
(Beware: Do Not Read This by Ishmeal Reed) involve the reader with the story not with spooky
ghouls but with the despairing thoughts that can occur in the human mind and involve detail which
provides us with imagery of what is happening in the poems, the structure, and style of the poems are

Aspects Of Southern American English
The ever so charming dialect of Southern American English is often found quite pleasant sounding to
other Americans. In fact, according to an article in TIME Magazine and a survey from dating site
Cupid.com, the sing song honey sweetness of the Southern accent is the country s sexiest . Many
Northerners, Midlanders and SouthWesterners are enthralled by the attractiveness of Southern
English. Although, some language and grammar aspects of Southern American English are thought to
be improper or incorrect. This negative aspect of the language variety makes those who speak it
sometimes seem uneducated or incorrect when it comes to the rules of American English (pbs).

The vegetable green beans is often called snap beans in some southern communities. Another
fascinating older lexical difference is a dragonfly being called a mosquito hawk (pbs). Many varieties
of American English have interesting lexical differences but SAE has to have some of the most
intriguing. Its old time sayings have been passed down from generation to generation.
There is a common misconception of southerners and their variety of language being perceived as
dumb or wrong. People get the idea of southerners being grammatically incorrect or illiterate because
a multitude of movies and television shows portray them that way. Popular shows like The Dukes of
Hazzard make out those who live in the Southern United States to use non proper English (pbs). Yet
through understanding and researching all of the features of SAE it is very evident that their speech is

Character of Hamlet Essay
Character of Hamlet
Wer gar zu viel bedenkt wird wenig leisten
Schiller
He who reflects too much will accomplish little
It is impossible to attain completeness in the assessment of any one s character and more so in the case
of Hamlet s, for its note are complex and mysterious. But on rigorous study, Hamlet s character can be
described though partly but adequately by the above quote.
Hamlet is the most famous, the most popular play in the English language. But to quote T.S.Eliot So
far from being Shakespeare s masterpiece, the play is most certainly an artistic failure…. And
probably more people have thought Hamlet a work of art because they found it interesting, than ...

Here Amleth directly knew that his uncle was guilty quite in contrast to Hamlet s case and Amleth s
life was in great danger also in contrast to Hamlet s as his uncle Claudius was fond of his nephew. He
takes good care of him and calls him his son as well.
There is no great apparent danger to Hamlet s life from Claudius until he is aware that Hamlet knows
of his devilish act of murdering the King Hamlet. In the case of Amleth he had every reason to act as
if he were mad because that was necessary to him to accomplish his duty of avenging his father s
murder. It is hard to understand why Hamlet pretends madness when he could have done what he had
to with great ease and no one would have objected to Claudius dethronement as Claudius was not
popular with his people, which is quite evident from the fact that Laertes could raise a public revolt
against the king so boldly. In Amleth s case it was completely different, his uncle had complete
support in the coup. And A.C.Bradley further observes that Shakespeare was not properly able to link
all the portions of Amleth s story into Hamlet .
The other way of analyzing Hamlet is from the play itself. This is the most fascinating part and it
makes the most interesting reading. First and foremost we must go to the backdrop in which the play
is set and the introduction of Hamlet into the play.
The country is

The snow falls lightly upon them, but not as light as their hearts. It s December 23, 1776, christmas is soon and America is losing the war for independence from Britain, each soldier wishes to return home to their family, for they feel as if all is lost and there is nothing they can possibly do to win the war. All until Thomas Paine presents the soldiers a whole hearted and encouraging speech, The Crisis . • 5. A Report On The Emergency Department S (situation): Hi, my name Kelsey and I am a nurse in the emergency department. I am calling about Shannon O Reilly s most recent laboratory results. B (background): Ms. O Reilly is 24 years old who came to the emergency in a DKA crisis earlier this morning and has been DM1 since she was 3 years old. A (assessment): Ms. O Reilly s vital signs are temperature of 37.5 C, pulse of 112, blood pressure of 102/52, and respirations of 24. Her respirations are still deep but have a regular rhythm. She has a CBS of 8.1 and regular insulin running as per orders. The lab work shows uncompensated metabolic acidosis with no hypoxia. Ms. O Reilly s neurological status has improved with a GSC of 13. Her dehydration is being treated with NS containing 40mEQ KCL/L running at 200ml/hr and potassium levels maintained at 4. R (recommendation): Do you want to continue with the current care plan continued with frequent CBS and potassium monitoring? Describe your rationale for the recommendations made. Shannon s glucose levels are still high (above 6.1 mmol/L) thus still needs the insulin drip (Robbins et al., 2010). Administration of insulin and efforts made to correct metabolic acidosis forces potassium into the cells causing hypokalemia (Bopp, 2010). Thus, even though the potassium is within therapeutic levels (3.5 5 mmol/L) there is a high chance that Shannon may experience hypokalemia and the administration of NS with potassium is necessary (Bopp, 2010). Since, due to many factors range data often gets attenuated by noisy signal measurements, optimization methods are to be employed to filter the noise and arrive at a more definite position estimate. Lateration:When ranges between anchor nodes and the mobile node can be determined, lateration is used to estimate position [35]. For two dimensional localization, three range measurements from known positions (anchor nodes) are required. Radius of a circle of each category as anchor nodes as represented in is the ideal position. At one point the three circles intersect, and that the intersection is the location of the ... The absolute location could either be represented in discrete space as cells or grids or in continuous space with coordinates. Relative positions: The geometrical relative location by angle or distance to certain reference point (RP), in other word, the absolute position of the user could be obtained only if absolute positions of RP are known. Logical positions: Identifying user s position without information directly corresponding to physical space but associated with certain patterns including motions, activities and landmarks. Physical location could then be given by retrieving associate spatial features of those patterns. The output of a localization system is closely related to the methodology or algorithms the system uses to localize. The calculation of positions is the core engine of localization. We examine various existing methods and sort them into following categories: Geometric: System based on geometric calculation including triangulation, trilateration and multilateration, to give user s relative position to certain RP. Instead, there are smarter ways to gain strength and show off strength and it can be done in more effective ways than straight weight lifting. In this report, I will show the benefits and effects of different types of training. Strong muscles, being essential to good health, can be built and toned through many different forms of exercise. Three primary methods of strength training are traditional exercise, alternative exercise and other miscellaneous methods of training. Traditional exercise is mainly things that you will find at your normal gym like weights, treadmills and other common equipment. Alternative exercise includes group classes and sports. ... Another thing that trainers do is mix pieces of equipment, like making you use weights while on an exercise machine. Also, if personal trainers are too expensive or hard to get, group classes are a great option. You will get most of the same exercises, just in a group environment. Group classes are also great because you can be inspired t(o work harder, faster, more frequently, etc.) by other people in the class. Alternative exercise is another option for muscle strengthening. Good forms of alternative exercise are group classes. The classes do not necessarily need to be group exercise classes, there are many other classes available that will strengthen you. Yoga is one of those classes. Yoga not only stretches your muscles out so they have more room to grow, you also usually work in a warm or hot environment, which makes your muscles work harder. Yoga involves balance, concentration, and relaxation. These things are all necessary and relevant to muscle strengthening because if you do too much strengthening in a short amount of time, like a week, you could possibly get injured. Pilates also has lots of great core exercises involved. Another form of group classes is martial arts. Martial arts makes your body work in many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Herman Melville s short story, Bartleby the Scrivener the author portrays the action and reaction of his characters to form three important themes: Alienation, man s desire to avoid conflict, and man s desire to keep a free conscience. Some readers may infer that Herman is giving them an insight on specifically the way Bartleby mind works. However through Bartleby s responses and reactions we learn more about the narrator, and is ironically where the themes arise. In Act 1 Scene 2, Shakespeare employs the metaphor let two more summers wither in their pride / ere we may think her ripe to be a bride . In this metaphor, Shakespeare describes Juliet as a fruit. This reference to the natural world presents Juliet as beautiful while verb such as wither and ripe present Juliet as immature and naïve, not ready for the serious event of marriage. Furthermore, like a fruit can easily be bruised, Shakespeare shows how Juliet can easily be damaged and how Juliet is powerless in her choices and will be chosen by a man, like how a man picks a fruit from a tree, mirrored in the Elizabethan Patriarchal society when women were powerless and it was the men who possessed all the power. However, a contemporary audience would react very different to this, possibly outraged due to Juliet s lack of choice in her life. In addition, it is possible to say that Shakespeare choosing to rhyme bride and pride reflects Lord Capulet s feelings towards Juliet marrying. However, later on in the extract, Lord Capulet says how those who are too soon marred are those too early made . The word marred has two meaning, married and ruined so in this line, Shakespeare shows how Lord Capulet is fearful of Juliet s premature marriage as he doesn t want Juliet to become ruined, alluding to his own unhappy marriage with Lady Capulet, and how Lord ... • 12. The Pros And Cons Of Illegal Immigration Even though illegals work hard, forced integration as a whole ought to be terminated. Because integration pushes poverty inward, it systematically liquefies private property into the common stock punishing taxpayers and rewarding tax consumers leading to cultural disintegration. Hans Hermann Hoppe elaborates on the subject of forced integration in his 2001 discourse, Democracy: The God That Failed: Presently, whenever the central government permits immigration, it allows foreigners to proceed literally on government owned roads to any of its residents doorsteps, regardless of whether or not these residents desire such proximity to foreigners. Thus, to a large extent free immigration is forced integration...If one is prevented from expelling others from one s property whenever their presence is deemed undesirable, ill behavior, misconduct, and outright rotten characters are encouraged (rendered less costly). The results of forced integration are only too visible. All social relations whether in private or business life have become increasingly egalitarian (everyone is on a first name basis with everyone else) and uncivilized. In 2006, the number of illegal immigrants that entered the country totaled 3 million, nearly tripling the amount of legal immigration that year. In the present age, immigration is discussed within the confines of, and inside the parameters set by Marxist influenced egalitarianism. Methodically, these sentiments have been thoroughly refuted. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She encourages people to embrace their differences and obstacles in life that would normally set them back. Purdy explained that after she had graduated from high school, she moved from a large desert to somewhere that snowed, and she became a massage therapist. She finally felt in control of her own life. Unfortunately, this was all for a very short time because one day soon after, she left her job early because of what she thought was the flu. Realistically, Purdy had contracted bacterial meningitis, and was soon laying in the hospital on life support. She lost both of her legs from the knee down, hearing in her left ear, and both of her kidneys. After she healed, she tried on a new pair prosthetic legs, and she grew frustrated and immediately felt as though her life would be restricted and confined forever, that her new legs would impact her life in a very negative way. After a few months of moping and feeling sorry for herself, she started to view her position in a new light. She decided she must embrace her new legs, and learn how to work with them, instead of working against them. She found many benefits to having prosthetic legs, and it made her realize that her legs weren t a curse. After realizing all of the positives, Purdy was able to continue with her life, and as time went on, she overcame even more obstacle by staying positive. Four months after Purdy s health scare, ... It was important that his initial beliefs were absolute. If any of them were in doubt, then it put the entire structure of knowledge at risk. Thus, Descartes developed a method to get rid of those beliefs of which he could not be completely being confident in them. This process is called the Method of Doubt. Descartes would state that even though we may not recall what we were dreaming, we were definitely having something going on throughout our thoughts. • 20. Metabolic Alkalosis Lab Report Metabolic alkalosis is a primary increase in serum bicarbonate (HCO3 ) concentration. This occurs as a consequence of a loss of H+ from the body or a gain in HCO3 . In its pure form, it manifests as alkalemia (pH 7.40). As a compensatory mechanism, metabolic alkalosis leads to alveolar hypoventilation with a rise in arterial carbon dioxide tension (PaCO2), which diminishes the change in pH that would otherwise occur. Normally, arterial PaCO2 increases by 0.5 0.7 mm Hg for every 1 mEq/L increase in plasma bicarbonate concentration, a compensatory response that is very quick. If the change in PaCO2 is not within this range, then a mixed acid base disturbance occurs. For example, if the increase in PaCO2 is more than 0.7 times the increase in bicarbonate, then metabolic alkalosis coexists with primary respiratory acidosis. Likewise, if the increase in PaCO2 is less than the expected change, then a primary respiratory alkalosis is also present. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In regards to Ricky s morals, I have stressed the value of honesty and treating others kindly. Lastly, Ricky is practicing sociodramatic play and participating in recreational activities to gain social skills. When Ricky was born I vowed to improve his intelligence. This is now increasingly important since Ricky is in school. I have been advancing Ricky s intelligence through practicing private speech. Since kindergarten, Ricky has been having difficulty with phonological awareness and reading. Even in the first grade, Ricky is unable to read independently, however, his teacher is not concerned. I, on the contrary, am concerned, so I made the choice for Ricky to receive tutoring twice a week. While receiving assistance in reading and writing, I have emphasized to the tutor how I wish for them to praise and practice private speech with Ricky. Private speech is when the child speaks to themselves when completing a task, reading a passage, and more. Ricky can practice this tactic with his tutor through reading out loud, stating all the steps necessary to complete the activity and more verbal actions. My choice for Ricky practicing private speech is because Berk and Meyers state, Children who freely use private speech during a challenging activity are more attentive and involved and show better task performance (323). Ricky s increased engaged attitude and attentiveness will allow him to perform better, therefore improving his reading skills. One of the many proposals made since the attacks is installing video cameras in the cabin to monitor passenger activity for any possible terrorist actions. A pilot should be aware of what is happening to the plane and the passengers on board at all times. In a situation where someone is trying to hijack an airplane, there are three factors needed to be assessed. The term is used to refer to particular conditions or symptom complexes, cognitive, behavioral or affective, which are apparently unique to specific cultures (Balhara, 2011). These culture related specific conditions may occur due to a particular set of environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. The way they are experienced is heavily influenced by their culture. Several of these disorders have however been contested by modern medicine as being fallacious in their label as culture bound while others have held their ground as fact. Examples of these cultural conditions include Kuru, which is a lethal, incurable, degenerative West African (predominant in Guinea) disease affecting the central nervous system. It is caused by a prion found in humans and said to be transmitted via endocannibalism. Another condition is the Windigo psychosis which referred to a paranoia characterized by cannibalistic psychological predispositions among Native American tribes such as Cree, Ojibwa and Chippewa due to food scarcity during winter. Those affected would suffer severe anxiety, sometimes resulting in suicide to avoid turning into the flesh eating Windigo monsters. Yet another of the reproductive kind with a psychological connection is the Oriental (mainly Indian) Dhat (O Neil, 2010). The Dhat Syndrome This culture restricted condition has been mainly associated with the Asian continent, the Indian subcontinent in particular, and is also known as the sexual psychosis of the Orient or the anxiety of semen loss. It is quite common, especially among the Indian people and it mainly occurs in young men from their late teens to their forties. Introduction Macronutrients are a group of compounds that humans consume in the largest quantities and thus provide the bulk of energy that they consume and use for everyday functioning. The three types of macronutrients are protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Fatty acids are separated into three categories: saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. The unsaturated fatty acids are known to play a role in cognitive function, learning, and behavior.1, 2 Omega 3 fatty acid is one of the polyunsaturated fatty acids and it can be created from alpha linolenic acid or obtained directly from maternal milk or fish oil. In most cases, students who are not proficient in reading or spelling during the early school years often have difficulty in other subject matters throughout their education. All factors of education including nutrition, should be considered when evaluating ways to improve learning capabilities in children. In terms of nutrition, omega 3 is vitally important during gestation and infancy for early brain development. However, omega 3 fatty acids are present in a limited number of foods and the predicted intake by American children worldwide is commonly low. Omega 3 fatty acids have been highlighted in research to better understand the association between nutritional deficiencies and learning difficulties. In the event that a child has an omega 3 deficiency related to poor intake or absorption, it is likely that their learning and/or behavior would see benefits from improving their omega 3 status. There is clearly an interest and a number of research studies that are investigating the effects of omega 3 fatty acids on cognition, learning and behavior in healthy children. Overall, the studies included in this review generally agree that making improvements in a child s fatty acid intake may initiate brain activity changes that are observable in regards to learning and behavior. How is it possible to feel safe with all of these findings stacked up against you? It just isn t feasible. Kenneth Rouse still remains on death row to this day. Some possible solutions to this is simply more diversity in the judicial bench. America needs to have a criminal justice system that represents the diversity of America. When people think of America, they think of the many faces that occupy our country. Unfortunately, this is only embraced by some. It is impossible for someone to completely understand all circumstances of someone s situation without first experiencing similar or the same realities. The foundations for a successful business can perhaps emerge in a number of different areas, but there is little doubt that an optimal value chain is critical to starting an organization down the path towards enduring success. Defining the value chain A value chain adds value to raw materials as they pass through the production process and then, inevitably, through the marketing and sales process. In a broad sense, it is about identifying value via identifying areas of comparative advantage and how the organization can bolster its market standing and its overall value and impact. It may also be noted that the value chain is, for all intents and purposes, all internal activities and processes within the organization that yield outputs in one form or another. It entails (or should entail) everything from channel objectives to distribution strategy to marketing program supports to supplier configuration and collaboration to communication plans (Burrows et al, 2012). Porter (1985) earned international fame by offering a very comprehensive and insightful overview of the value chain. He took a process view of organizations and perceived organizations as being, for all intents and purposes, a system (with sub systems and even further sub systems) that take inputs and transform them into outputs. There are transformational processes that manifest themselves all along the value chain and, ultimately, can determine cost and profit outcomes. The acquisition of resources, and the consumption of resources, largely determines how an organization finds value and optimizes it. In the view of Porter (1985), the ...
