The Interesting Narrative Of The Life Of Olaudah Equiano
American Literature has had many impacts on the American Society today, and there are many
different ways we can relate it to society. Many different pieces of literature represent the changes that
have shaped our society, and that reflect off of our society in America today. Some of the many
American Literature pieces are: The World on the Turtles Back, Coyote and the Buffalo, Gettysburg
Address, and The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano. Relating literature to society
will help us to understand how American Literature has had an impact on society in American Society.
The definition of American Literature is the literature written in the United States, or by its
surrounding colonies. The story, Coyote and the Buffalo was retold by Mourning Dove, ... Show more

In Coyote and the Buffalo , the Buffalo and the Coyote have a dispute between them, and the Buffalo
is somewhat vulnerable to the Coyote. The coyote finds the buffalo s skulls on the ground and throws
it around, because he is dead. Little does he know, the buffalo comes to life and chases him. The
buffalo ends up giving the coyote a chance, because he wants new horns, to kill the young buffalo.
The Buffalo kills the young buffalo and takes the herd back. In return of the sharp horns, he gives
coyote a calf, to live off of his fat, but warns him not to kill him when he becomes hungry. He
promises to do this, but ends up becoming very sick of eating the fat, and kills the buffalo. In
American society, we value loyalty, trust, and honesty. In this book even though the coyote is doing
bad, we are still on his side. This often happens in society too, the bad people look good in others
eyes, but in all reality, they are bad. Although he was beating up the skull and taunting the buffalo, we
still want him to survive. Foolish and greedy are often hidden by lies, that only some people
recognize. It

The Rational Model of Policy Decision Making
Selected Essays by Lefoko O. Molebatsi (2001) Public Policy and Policy Analysis: The Rational
Model Question: The rational model of public policy making, though heavily criticized, is the most

6. The decision maker will choose the alternative, and its consequences, that maximizes attainment of
his or her goals, values, or objectives11.
The outcome of this modus operandi is a rational decision that is, one that most effectively achieves a
given end. In short, it optimizes; it is the best possible decision 11. Rational decisions bring about
either large and basic or limited changes in public policies. Perhaps it is important to note that these
decisions are more often than not in line with the ideals and aspirations of elites, who are happy with
the political situation as it stands. Thus, this contributes (I submit) to the wide usage of the rational
model within the fraternity of management policy and decision making.

Selected Essays by Lefoko O. Molebatsi (2001) Despite heavy criticism of the rational model, some
authors continue to view it as an ideal. An idealized model of rational policymaking process consists
of a „rational individual‟ undertaking the following sequential activities: 1. A goal for solving a
problem is established 2. All significant consequences of each alternative strategy are predicted and
the probability of those consequences occurring is estimated. 3. Finally, the strategy that most nearly
solves the problem or solves it at least cost is selected12. 4. All alternative

Hard Bop Essay
Though I was introduced to numerous styles of Jazz this semester, each with their own merits, I will
cover the phenomenon of Hard bop in this paper. I believe that hard bop is a style unlike any other,
and it deserves more recognition. Though it only reached its height of commercial success through the
1950 s and 1960 s, I hope that it will be revived one day, as I believe it to be one of the greatest styles
in Jazz history.
Understanding hard bop involves understanding the cultural roots that spurred its development. In the
1930 s, big Swing bands such as the Count Basie Orchestra dominated the Jazz scene. It was a style
that had a feeling of joy and freedom, in a time when the economy was in poor shape. The music
served an important purpose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miles Davis is one highly significant musician of the hard bop period. Known as the great innovator
of Jazz, he was not known solely for hard bop, but rather numerous styles. Nonetheless, his recording
of the album Walkin in 1954 is made an excellent contribution to the genre. Old bebop stars were
featured in this album, with Kenny Clarke on the drums and Horace Silver on the piano. The album
has the form of a 12 bar blues, and happens to be another obvious Jazz standard.
Douglas Payne of All About Jazz explains the pure masterful skill of Miles Davis, saying Throughout,
Davis sounds grand: comfortable, authoritative and well within his gamely element. His partners seem
well teamed with him too, ready to walk or run to Davis s beat. Walkin offers at least two jazz
essentials ( Walkin , Solar ) and it serves as an excellent place to begin or continue appreciating the
trumpeter s bop significance, shortly before he contributed greatly

The Pit And The Raven Analysis
One way Poe demonstrates suspense in these works is through the use of an unreliable narrator. In
both of these pieces, the main character is a mysterious and untrustworthy narrator. In The Raven, the
narrator starts by saying, ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, / While I
nodded, nearly napping (1, 3). The narrator has just awoken to the sound of knocking at his door.
While it is up for debate, the narrator could very well be dreaming or hallucinating about the raven
and the tapping, but the reader and even the narrator are waiting for a signal to explicitly show that it
is just a figment of his imagination. In the other story, The Pit and the Pendulum, the narrator is
introduced to us as criminal who has been sentenced to death. The narrator describes the moment
saying, The sentence the dread sentence of death was the last of distinct accentuation which reached
my ears [before swooning] (263). The reader discovers at the beginning of the story that the narrator
has committed a crime so terrible that he has been sentenced to death. The audience spends the whole
story trying to figure out when he will die and by which type of torment he will die to. In both of Poe s
works the narrators are unreliable characters who the reader cannot completely trust, which leads to
the suspense of waiting for the whole truth. Another literary element Poe uses in these stories to build
suspense is a mysterious tone. In The Raven, the narrator

Inclusion and Consultation Theory
The principle of Inclusion tresses, among other concepts, that all members accept their fair share of
responsibility for all children, including those with disabilities (Dettmer, Thurston, Dyck, 2005, p. 40).
This shared responsibility and giftedness is facilitated through consultation theory, which employs a
team approach to successful inclusion of students with disabilities within mainstream education.
Sheridan, Richards and Smoot (2000) report that Urie Brofenbrenner (1977) In a seminal article,
emphasized the importance of ecological considerations in child development by recognizing that a
child is part of a number of interrelated systems, each with reciprocal and bidirectional influence on
the others. (p.167) It is reported that the subsystems primarily addressed in consultation are the
microsystem and the mesosystem. The mesosystem is reported to be defined as the immediate setting
or system within which an individual functions at anyone point in time, such as a classroom,
neighborhood, or home setting. (Sheridan, Richards and Smoot, 2000, p.167) Problems are addressed
at this level at the time they occur in a setting or environment that is isolated in nature whereas the
mesosystem is focused on relationships among immediate systems in an individual s environment,
such as interrelations among the home and school settings. (Sheridan, Richards and Smoot, 2000, p.
167) The focus at this level is such that enables the identification and resolution of broader

Taking a Look at the Death Penalty
Death Penalty should be allowed under circumstances also known as capital punishment, where
congress or any state legislature recommend the death penalty for murder and other capital crimes.
Majority of the states are favor in death penalty, roughly around 32 states are favor and 18 states are
against death penalty. In most cases, many argue that death penalty has violated the 8th amendment,
where it bans cruel and unusual punishment. Therefore, they would go against death penalty.
However, without the sentence to death, the chances of prisoner escaping prison are really high. If
they are able to escape prison and get away with it, then they can continue committing crimes.
Although some may argue that death penalty is harsh because if you kill someone; and then you take
another person s life, then why should yours be freed? I personally do not agree with death penalty
because taking away another person s life is not going to regain the victim s life back. However, the
victim s family would want the person to be sentence to death, so the victim can rest in peace. I think
that death penalty should be only allowed under circumstances, but then how can you really
determined if the case should be ruled with death penalty? And how would the justice system know
that they have made the correct decision? Did the decision of sentence to death turn out to be wrong,
where the person is later found innocent? There are multiple of questions that people will be more
concern about. The

Stereotyping Is Bad
Is stereotyping really bad? Well, it isn t bad because it helps people understand who does what
because of this, right? However, that s not necessarily true. In this world, stereotyping has been a part
of how we live. To some people, stereotyping has been a serious issue; to others, not so much.
Stereotype is a term defined as: An oversimplified generalization about a person or group of people
without regard for individual difference.
An author named Shankar Vedanttam talks about this issue in his article How a Self Fulfilling
Stereotype Can Drag Down Performance. He states, The performance of African Americans who

It would always make me feel so dumb when I didn t get everything on my math test correct. When I
was young, people would always label everyone by their race and gender. Whites are better than
blacks. Asians need to get everything correct in math because they are the smartest. All Mexicans are
bad immigrants. These are things that people do to certain races that need to be fixed. We live in a
society where we base how a certain race is because of an amount of people s wrong doing.
I haven t opened my eyes until I ve come to the conclusion that we were all stereotyped because we
needed to distinguish what a person is by what they looked liked and how they act. I ve had friends
who were from Mexico and they treated me with much respect and care. I have a brother in law who is
black and he would do anything and everything for my sister and for the people around him.
Of course, there have been some people who have done wrong things and they may have been black
or white or any sort of race. However, these people shouldn t give us a reason why we need to neglect
the good people who have done fantastic things. All in all, we need to focus on the person itself rather
than the race or gender or whatever the group they belong to. Stereotype threats could have been the
reason performance drops, but we really don t know if that is the

Psychoanalytic Theory Of Human Development
Psychoanalytic Theory
Psychoanalytic Theory is a theory of human development that holds that irrational, unconscious drives
and motives, often originating in childhood, underlie human behavior. It is thought to influence every
aspect of thinking and behavior, from the smallest details of life to the crucial choices of a lifetime.
Sigmund Freud is an Austrian physician who believed the stages of human development were
characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body.
Oral Stage (Birth to 1 year) In infancy, everything the child gets a hold of goes to their mouth. The
lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. They love to suck on
their fingers or pacifier majority of the time, even in their sleep.
Anal Stage (1 3 years)
The anal is the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. During this time children are
beginning toilet training. They are now able to interpret when they need to use the restroom and able
to communicate to the parents when they need to go.
Phallic Stage (3 6 years)
During this stage, the penis is the most important body part, and pleasure is derived from genital
stimulation. This is the time when they begin to discover their genitals, girls may ask questions while
on the other hand, boys may feel a sense of pride.
Latency (6 11 years)
During this age of development sexual needs quieten down and children begin to focus on social
activities with friends.

Impact Of Hunting On Tropical Forests
In the article Impacts of Hunting on Tropical Forests in Southeast Asia, by Harrison and others, the
authors examine how a wide variety of factors have influenced hunting practices in Southeast Asia and
led to a rapid decline in animal populations in the region. According to the criteria outlined by Clark,
the problem in this article is well defined: the practices employed by hunters are unsustainable and
indiscriminate, destroying large numbers of vulnerable and rare animal species. Solutions must be
found to protect these species while also respecting the cultural rights of those to hunt.
Hunting in Southeast Asia is largely an informal, indiscriminate activity that is often undertaken by
amateurs. Hunters often venture out without a specific quarry in mind or hunting may be incidental to
other activities...Indiscriminate methods, such as snares and gum traps (for birds), are commonplace,
and even hunters with shotguns frequently shoot smaller quarry. (Harrison, 2016, Pg. 975)
Because little emphasis is placed on selecting certain species, rare and endangered species often fall
victim to non selective hunting methods, but certain species can be purposefully targeted as well. ...the
highest value items, such as elephant ivory, rhinoceros horn, tiger bones, turtles, and pangolin, are
inevitably traded illegally to Vietnam or China... Indeed, the killing of a rare animal is sometimes
celebrated because of its rarity (Harrison, 2016, Pg. 975).

Mutations In The MSX1 Case Study
Mutations in the MSX1 gene cause a variety of diseases. Mutations hit different sites on msx1 that
resulted in different phenotypes. It has been identified some mutations locations such as in frame
mutations, including 18 missense mutations and truncating mutations, including 5 nonsense mutations,
5 indel mutations, 1 splice variant, 1 nonstop variant, and 1 entire gene deletion. Farther, some of
these mutations disturb the homeodomain and some don t but located in N terminus protein. The indel
mutations and the missense mutations severely disturb the DNA binding domain (4). These mutations
in homeodomain are associated with tooth agenesis with or without orofacial clefting. The outside

Another type is oligodontia, which is six or more, represented by 0.1%. They analyzed three
generations of tooth agenesis Japanese family by using whole exome sequencing (WES). They found
that a novel single nucleotide substitution in the MSX1 intron which makes splicing occurs at 7bp
instead of the normal splicing site which is the exon 2, resulting a C terminal truncated gene product .
This substitution is inserted between the positions 451 and 452. It is worth notice that insertion is (3).
Another study conducted in Japan family with non syndromic tooth agenesis. The authors identified a
novel frameshift mutation by using mice with CRISPR/Cas system. The mutation occurred in a highly
conserved C terminal domain of MSX1, (MH6). Homozygous mice at E16.5 showed agenesis of
lower incisors with or without cleft palate. 4 week old mutant mice showed agenesis of the upper third
molars and the lower second and third molars. Besides, the upper second molars were small (12).
Furthermore, a study involved six Japanese families with non syndromic tooth agenesis. There was a
novel nonsense mutation in exon 1 in a family with oligodontia. This mutation made a termination
codon in the first exon, which led to truncated W139X at the C terminus and no homeodomain MH4.
Missing MH4 resulted in losing DNA binding, protein protein interaction, and nuclear localization

Character Analysis Of The Galileo Seven
The Galileo Seven is the sixteenth episode of the original series of Star Trek. The plot starts when the
USS Enterprise starship has a mission to deliver medical supplies to Makus III. A shuttlecraft, called
Galileo, is sent out to trace out the formation of four star systems. In that spaceship, a group of
research team includes Chief Medical Officer McCoy, Chief Engineer Scott, and four other specialists,
under the command of First Officer Spock. Nevertheless, soon after Galileo has launched, the
spacecraft is hit by the radiation. They are forced to make an emergency landing on Taurus II. There,

For example, Spock tried to supply Scott with all necessary equipment to fix the spaceship.
Nonetheless, the situation itself is also significant to determine how favorable it is towards the leader.
From this perspective, it is necessary to classify the circumstances into two states, which are normal
situation and emergency situation. In normal environment, everybody carries out their typical, routine
duties concerning their roles. Spock and his subordinates has established good leader member
relationship, as they treated each other with respect. Furthermore, since the tasks are well structured,
everyone clearly understands what needs to be done and how to do it. Apart from that the chief s
position power is rather strong. Additionally, if the Five Bases of Power by French and Raven (1959)
is also taken into account, Spock claimed to have personal power of expertise and referent too. To
conclude the routine situational characteristics, good leader member relations, high task structure, and
strong position power lead to situation I (see figure 1), which effectively matches with Spock s task
oriented style (Jones George, 2012). In contrast, unusual circumstances include the crisis of
shuttlecraft accident and the charge from local tribes. Leader member relations are apparently poor.
Most of his decisions seemed to contradict with his subordinates opinions and common ethics, which
erode their trust and loyalty. Moreover, most crewmembers lacked

Ganymede Jewelry Essay

Midterm Project
Ganymede Jewelry
My God, am I such a jewelry fanatic! I knew as soon as I saw jewelry I had to write about it. Jewelry
is something women and men but mostly women tend to adorn themselves with to either show stature,
beauty or just to feel special about themselves. The Jewelry gives a lot of details on where it was made
and the interesting designs on the necklace and earrings. Also, because it s made of real gold and
silver any women would be honored to wear such an amazing work of art. The Ganymede Jewelry
was found in Macedonia near the area of Thessaloniki before 1913 and the jewelry pieces date back to
being formed 330 300 B.C. They date back to the Hellenistic Greek period. Hellenistic period starts
from the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. to the conquest of Ptolemaic Egypt. This time
period Greek cultural power was at the top in Europe, Africa and Asia. It experienced an influx of arts,
literature, architecture, math, science and etc. The jewelry was made by Leochares in the beginning
for the fourth century B.C. The Hellenistic Jewelry was made in current day Greece. The Ganymede
Jewelry consists of earrings, necklace, pins, bracelets and a ring. But it s not sure if they all go
together. The neckless is shown to take on the look of ivy or grape leaf and have a border of beaded

Whilst the normal range of salaries for each job grade is 80% to 120% of the job salary, individual
salaries may in some circumstances be set above or below this range dependent upon the job market
for specific regions or job categories or upon the individual s level of experience or length of time in
the job.
4. SETTING YOUR SALARY
Annual Salary Review
In CSR, it is current practice to review all staff salaries once a year with any adjustments to take place
from 1 July.
The purpose of the review is to ensure that:
the average salaries paid to CSR people remain competitive with the market rates
salary relativities between individuals are fair, having regard to factors such as individual contribution
to the business, level of performance and any changes in job responsibility in the previous year.
The CSR Board approves the money to be allocated for salary increases taking into account various
factors including the job market , where CSR should be positioned in that market and the company s
performance. As a result, job grade salaries are revised and guidelines for the review are prepared.
Setting individual salaries
A number of factors are considered when setting individual salaries. Managers consider the amount of
money available to the business for salary adjustments, the revised salary/remuneration package
midpoints and each individual s contribution to the business.

Relationships In Good Will Hunting
Good Will Hunting is an interesting story of a young genius orphan growing in a slums of South
Boston with a group of best friends, written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and directed by Gus Van
Sant. In this film, Will Hunting is the main character played by its father Matt Damon who is trying to
himself identify his value in the world. He is not a normal teenager, he has a special ability that called
the photographic memory so that he could remember and solve academic problems in a really quickly
way. This film also tells us the journey of Willy as he is required to experience psychotherapy by
Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard) unless he wants to serve the jail time due to his assault
to a police officer. After several attempts for such treatment, all psychologists give up talking with him
because of his stubborn characteristic until he meets Sean Maguire played by Robin Williams. Sean is
the only person who is able to guide Willy on the way to finding himself and recognizing what is the
most important to him in his own life. The writers and director collaborate very well in conveying the
message to watchers through the storyline and some special relationships in it. There are two noticed
relationships in Good Will Hunting which are between teacher and student and between man and
woman.

A1 Steak Sauce Case
Problem / Issue
A.1. Steak Sauce is a brand of Kraft Foods with little competition in the steak sauce market. The
product currently has the majority dollar and volume market shares in the steak sauce market.
However, unit and volume sales have remained flat. In February of 2003, A.1. becomes aware of new
competition entering the steak sauce market. Lawry s, which is owned by Unilever, has announced an
April 1 launch of its own steak sauce. Lawry s has approached Publix and requesting the Memorial
Day ad with a two for $5 price. Publix is requesting that A.1. match Lawry s pricing or A.1. will lose
its place in the ad.

o A.1. has never been seriously challenged by another brand. Currently, A.1. has no reason to believe
that Lawry s could become serious competition.
Disadvantages o A.1. stands to lose part of its current market share due to the extreme price difference
between its steak sauce ($0.50 / ounce regularly) and Lawry s new steak sauce ($0.36 / ounce
regularly). o Currently A.1. is guaranteed to receive chief ad placements during the important holiday
weekends. If A.1. makes no changes, there is a high probability that A.1. will lose these placements as
Publix is already considering Lawry s for the Memorial Day ad.
Recommendation
I would recommend a combination of two of the alternatives above. First, I would recommend that
A.1. strengthen its relationships with its suppliers and distributors. Although A.1. would incur
additional expenses in the form of legal fees and sales representative time, the benefits it could gain
would be extremely useful in competing against Lawry s. A.1. would ensure a high quality product,
adequate shelf space, and principal display space. These would reinforce A.1. as the preferred steak
sauce and provide additional brand awareness. Second, I would recommend that A.1. alter its
advertising program for the upcoming year. With Lawry focusing on May, June, and July with its
advertising program, A.1. needs to match it to maintain its current brand awareness. A.1. has been the
number one brand of steak sauce people

The Break Up Analysis
Whether you eat a whole tub of chocolate ice cream while crying or you party like a rock star all
weekend while drinking, a break up is a break up. If you re the person who eats a whole tub of
chocolate ice cream, you probably accompanied it with romantic movies. Although they are
comforting for the time being, they always leave you to wonder, why didn t my break up didn t have a
happy ending like the ones in the movies? In Peyton Reed s 2006 romantic comedy, The Break Up, it
portrays the realistic events and feelings of a failed relationship. In comparison to other romantic
comedies, this film seems to stand out because it teaches the audience the lesson that not all break ups
leads to make ups.
In The Break Up, the main purpose is to show the realistic events of a toxic relationship between
Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn). Brooke is a very classy art dealer and Gary, in
Brooke s eyes, is just a tour bus driver. The first scene shows how the couple met a Chicago Cubs
baseball game and Brooke was actually on a date with another man. The scene ended with Gary
asking her to go out sometime and the following scene is a slide show of all of Brooke and Gary s
pictures together, portraying that even perfect relationships have their own issues. The couple has a
big argument right off the bat in the third scene, Brooke feels neglected and unappreciated by Gary.
On the other hand Gary, feels that Brooke is controlling, a perfectionist, and he can never satisfied

The Tragic Hero Of Shakespeare s Hamlet
[insert introduction here] Macbeth and Hamlet are both tragic heroes whose fall from greatness
disturbs the order of their kingdoms.
A tragic hero is a character, one of high esteem, whose internal imperfection leads to their downfall.
Both Macbeth and Hamlet are well known and of high social class when an unexpected calamity hits.
Hamlet, the son of the king of Denmark, is a charismatic prince most immediate to [the] throne
(Shakespeare, Ham I.ii.109). It can be inferred that he lives a rather extravagant and convenient
lifestyle. That is, until his father dies and his uncle takes both the throne and Hamlet s mother as wife.
From Hamlet s perspective this is a calamity for two reasons: Hamlet was heir to the throne, and his
mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His reaction upon learning this fate is twofold: Macbeth can wait patiently for legitimate royalty, or he
can give into his black and deep desires, and steal the throne from Duncan (X). Hamlet s fate, on the
other hand, is to set right the murder of his father(x). It both cases, neither of the characters fates are
what killed them, but rather their tragic flaws. While Macbeth ultimately succumbs to his unchecked
ambition and rashly murders any potential and unlikely threat to the throne, Hamlet procrastinates and
fails to fulfill his revenge in a timely, simplistic manner. Because of his uncontrolled ambition,
Macbeth blindly trusts the witches who promise inviolable royalty, murders his closest friend, and
kills the family of his nemesis. Hamlet, on the other hand, weary of the legitimacy of the supernatural,
puts on an antic disposition and delays his revenge as he searches for confirmation of the ghost s
accusations (x). Hamlet s procrastination causes him to miss multiple opportunities at revenge. For
example, he chooses not to kill a vulnerable, praying Claudius (x). In this way, Macbeth and Hamlet
fall victim to their own actions. Had Macbeth been satisfied with just his throne, he would not have
risen any suspicion amongst the others. Similarly, had Hamlet acted in a timely manner and killed
Claudius the moment he was made aware of his

story. Overall, both films portray Exodus well, though they add staple Hollywood plot devices in an
effort to modernize the four thousand odd year old story and end up negatively affecting the original
story in the process.

Bithiah pleads with Moses to hide his true identity, for he was poised to become the pharaoh of Egypt

Moses is Hebrew and not Egyptian, the Pharaoh reluctantly punishes Moses by imprisoning him;

on their hind legs, other bear not so much. Brown bears and polar bear are the largest and are both
land carnivores. Polar bears are one of the worlds largest world predictors.
2.) Polar bears don t hibernate! Polar bears don t hibernate, expect if it is a pregnant female that
hibernates over winter in dens. Unlike other bears like brown, black, grizzle, polar bears don t
hibernate. Others may just dig a hole and spend several days in the hole, at a time. When the pregnant
female s activity level decreases, she gives birth and nurses her cubs. When the weather conditions are

Artificial Intelligence And Human Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is the technology that involves computers and machines displaying it s own
intelligence. The practical uses for computers making their own decisions is a very important
technology to develop, because this would allow the deployment of robots in environments too harsh
for humans to brave, such as other planets, or even war zones. While artificial intelligence is a very
good idea, true human intelligence will be very difficult to reach. While a computer could have the
ability to assess situations and communicate like a human, it would never be able to use common
sense or reasoning the same as a human, such as knowing why not to put your hand in a fire. It would
also be near impossible to program a computer to use it s decision making to form it s own opinions
and values as a human can.
Examples of where artificial intelligence can be applied is in self driving cars. By developing a
computer s ability to make it s own decisions, self driving cars could become a viable and common
technology. This technology is very important as it removes the factor of human error in driving,
which in turn could decrease car crashes or potentially eliminate them.
The Turing Test
The Turing Test is a test in which artificial intelligence is put through rigors by humans to determine
whether a computer can trick a person into thinking they are also human. It was made by a man called
Alan Turing, who decided that if a computer could fool a human into

Socrates Views On The Allegory Of The Cave
In the allegory of the cave, Socrates is explaining to the student how we are blinded by what we are
only allowed to see. If we were to see the truth, then we would return to tell the others, but they would
not believe you.
If you put that into today, you could compare it to the conspiracy theorists. They think that the
government is hiding us from the truth, and that the only way to learn is to go beyond the boundaries
set by the law. If you saw the report about the Roswell incident, you would see that they describe the
spacecraft as circular, 50 feet in diameter, and held three bodies of human shape, three feet tall,
dressed in metallic cloth of a fine texture. I think that that proves the existence of aliens, or midgets

Religious Views On The Fringe
Being from a small, conservative town, being called a liberal is meant insultingly. Being called atheist
was synonymous with devil worshipper . Yet, for a time, I was atheist leaning and still am a liberal.
Being on the fringe has often led to a series of confrontations that have shaped my political and
religious views, occasionally making me as prejudiced as the people who I felt were attacking me.
Thankfully, these confrontations have forced me to educate myself and have made me strong in my
opinions. While my religious and political views have often been heavily related, they have evolved
heavily over time as I matured and learned about the world.
Originally, I was raised to be a Christian. My parents were not strict church goers, but the concept of
God was certainly prevalent in my life. Being raised outside of a church community allowed me the
ability to formulate my own opinions on religion. My father wanted this experience for me. He was
baptized Catholic as a baby, but with age realized he did not agree with the traditions of the Catholic
Church. This experience influenced him to allow me to be able to choose how I wanted to be baptized.
Due to this, I settled for a Tom T. Hall Me and Jesus Have Our Own Thing Going mentality until I was
a teenager. Instead I was governed by principles such as honesty, charity, respect, and loyalty. I did not
attend church regularly, occasionally read the bible, and was not baptized but I did try to strengthen
my moral

The Negative Impact Of Tariffs In The US
Apple Incorporated, Microsoft, and other high tech companies can benefit from tariffs being
completely wiped out. A tariff is a tax or a duty that is placed on an imported good or product that the
government imposes. It can be a negative impact that can affect both foreign and domestic economies
in a trade. Either way tariff was implemented because it has some good impacts. Impacts creating
some gains of revenue for the federal government and the economy. A few months ago the Bloomberg
Business reported, that Negotiators agreed upon that it would be better to eliminate tariffs on a variety

Sunspot Lab Report
Introduction
The sun is an enormous bright yellow circle object visible in the sky daytime. Astronomers believe
that it is one of the many stars which the earth orbits in our galaxy. The sun is thought to be the
midpoint of the solar system based on the assertion that it is the only star in the solar system that is the
source of energy for all the other planets. According to geometry facts, the sun acts as the hub of the
solar system since all the other components of the solar system go around it on all sides (Haugen,
2002). The sun is vital to the solar system since it used as the center of research, study, and forecasting
not only in space travel but also on earth.
The sun is usually a hot ball, a yellow dwarf star that glows gasses at the central part of the solar
system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, around the 17th century, the cycle of the solar for several decades appeared appears to
have halted, and few spots were noted, a period referred to as Maunder minimum (Vogt, 2012). This
period coincided with the period of cooling in Europe characterized by abnormally cold temperatures.
Through the analysis of tree rings, the extended minima became a discovery and seemed to
correspond with the global temperatures that usually became lower that the average ones (Vogt, 2012).
Today, the sun illuminates the most life supporting part of the earth. Over the past four billion years,
this hasn t dramatically changed and is predicted not to change soon over the past five billion years (
NASA Solar System Exploration, 2017). But after the cessation of hydrogen fusion, the sun may
undergo some changes. The Sun plays the role of providing living things with light, energy, and
warmth while they are on earth. Interactions and connections between the earth and the sun drive

The Lord of the Rings directed by Peter Jackson Essay
The Art and the Business of My Inspirational Film A cultural product that inspires me is the film
trilogy The Lord of the Rings, which was directed by Peter Jackson. This movie gave me inspiration
because of how beautiful and well put together the film was. It made me want to be involved with the
process of how great films are made. According to Wikipedia, Jackson knew he wanted to bring the
movie to the big screen, and was curious to why nobody decided to do so. He wanted to take
advantage of the new technology, and create a fantasy that was serious and felt real (Wikipedia, 2014).
Peter Jackson demonstrates the art and business of the film in many ways, which is culturally
inspiring. The trilogy is about a hobbit named Frodo Baggins ... Show more content on

Peter Jackson watched the animation of The Lord of the Rings, which lead him to read Tolkien s
novels. He was interested in making the Hobbit series first, but put the project on hold because he was
offered to remake the film King Kong. So then he wanted to film King Kong before the trilogy, but
had to put it on hold because of location problems, so he began with The Lord of the Rings project.
Jackson wanted to make sure that everything would run smoothly for the film, so he got started with
rereading the books and developing a script (Wikipedia, 2014). According to the web, Peter Jackson
created the remake of Tolkien s novel because he was a fan of the original work and wanted to bring it
to life. He was inspired by his 12 hour train ride when he was younger, the whole train ride he read the
novels as he stared at the New Zealand landscape (TheLordoftheRings.net). Jackson shot the whole
movie at multiple locations within New Zealand s conservation and national parks area (Wikipedia,
2014). I am pretty sure that most of the movie was shoot in green screen because they were in the
middle of nowhere. The movie has a lot alluring special effects that makes me feel like they re
actually watching something that is real. Critic Rob Blackwelder, in his review, Hobbit Forming, tells
about how director Peter Jackson, has brought the monumental ambience, the distinctive characters

The Decline Of Chocolate Industry
The Broken Dream: The Decline of the Chocolate Industry in Ghana Chocolate, as one of the most
popular sweets around the world, not only satisfies people s taste, but also provides a means of living
for many countries. Ghana is an African country that lived upon its cocoa industry. Cocoa tree was
introduced to the Ghana accidentally by a man named Tetteh Quarshie after his trip to Spain in the late
nineteenth century (Off 96 97). Because of the increasing international demand for chocolate, the
cocoa farmers in Ghana soon benefited from the cocoa trade (Off 97). By 1920, Ghana became the
world s leading cocoa bean exporter (Off 98). The booming cocoa industry brought considerable
wealth to Ghanaian cocoa farmers that they could build new houses and roads (Ryan 10). However,
the cocoa industry in Ghana was not always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, this paper would focus on the question that what cause the decline of Ghana s chocolate
industry in the mid twentieth century? Some scholars believe that the farmers could not afford the cost
of maintaining the cocoa trees from pest and diseases, which lead to the decline of the cocoa industry.
A better answer to this question is that the cocoa industry in Ghana was prone to the control of large
organizations which were solely looking out for their own self interests. First, the government in
Ghana made specific policies targeted at the cocoa industry in order to gain huge tax revenue.
Moreover, the Ghana Cocoa Marketing Board manipulated the cocoa surplus from the farmer to earn a
profit in their own coffers. Finally, large chocolate companies controlled the market price for cocoa to
maximize their profits. The demise of the cocoa industry in Ghana is significant for understanding the
vulnerability of Ghana s economy when the country rely heavily on cocoa beans as the cash

Slavery Vs Indentured Servants Essay
Slavery and Indentured servitude were vital to the success of the British colonies in several different
ways. The difference between slaves and servants is that slaves were owed for life or until their master
decided to let them leave or they died. Indentured servants were granted freedom, safe passage to the
country and land ownership after working the length of their contract, as previously agreed upon. One
of the main reasons slaves and indentured servants were so vital to the British colonies is that they
were cheap and effective labor. They were able to work in the fields planting, fertilizing, watering and
picking the crop when it was ready to be harvested for consumption or profit. Due to the fast harvests,
the Americans were able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1705 there were not many indentures servants anymore. The British colonies started hiring slaves
due to the fact that they were owned for life and they didn t have to be let go due to their contracts

Americans justified enslaving Africans in several ways. The Americans thought less of them; that they
weren t even human but personal property to do with as they pleased. These views all came in to
account due to their skin color being darker. The American s thought they were evil since they were so
dark complected. That they were stupid and couldn t make their own way in the world. They would
make them work long hours in horrible conditions such as out in field all day in the hot sun without
breaks. Their living conditions were horrible, they weren t allowed medical care and were not fed on a
consistent basis. They were beaten, killed and many of the women were sexually abused by their
masters. Many of the slaves died due to malnourishment and disease. The American colonists justified
their actions by viewing that they were taking care of them by providing food, shelter and a means to
live by. That without them they would still be in Africa starving, homeless and

Agitated at his current position, he was furthermore irritated that the team tasked to replace Alpha

he knew it the convoy had reached it s destination. Every one assumes their positions, stacks the door,
and before you know if they ve cleared two buildings. A successful day of hard work, almost another
day down. He can taste it, one step closer to his goal of finally making it back on U.S. soil. His
euphoric daydream was interrupted with a loud BANG!! He realized that a solider from Alpha Team

In The Air Between Us By Claude M. Steele
Stereotype threat is a perception of fear that a person experiences in circumstances when they feel
they may inadvertently confirm a negative stereotype of a social group in which they are a part of. The
powerful effect of stereotype threat has been explored to determine the root of the issue, who is most
susceptible and what can be done to lessen the negative impacts it imparts on victims. The essay In the
Air between Us by Claude M. Steele examines the dynamic pressure stereotype threat places
specifically on African American students in a collegiate academic setting. This essay uses compelling
case studies to examine the everyday impact of this phenomenon, while searching for solutions to

Steele focuses her argument around high achieving, motivated black student s underachievement
rooted in stereotype threat. She argues that students that are of equal intelligent level underperform
due to subtle but powerful impacts of stereotypes, and that colleges can lessen these impacts by
addressing the issue through creation of identity safety and diminishing of racial divides. This point is
strongly proven through the study conducted by Woolf et al. (2008) where minority students
underachieve in medical school due to decreased teacher interactions rooted in student classifications.
If a safe identity space were created in this institution the classifications and ultimately racial divide
would be nullified, leading to equal relationships amongst all students and teachers and ultimately
opportunity for equal performance. Upon examination of Steele s essay and other case studies,
stereotype threats biggest disadvantage lies in ultimate creation of unequal opportunities and testing

The Supreme Court Of India
1. INTRODUCTION
Most social movements in India since the 1970s have actively used the Courts especially the Supreme
Court as a part of their struggles. This has been possible because of the higher Courts activism,
especially under the guidance and action of Public Interest Litigation. Through the instrument of
Public Interest Litigation, the Court liberated itself from traditional constraints in the legal system so
as to reach out to the weaker sections of Indian humanity.
The Supreme Court of India has adopted a forward looking approach since last few years, particularly
having regard to the socio economic conditions prevailing in the country. In fact there are two kinds of
approaches which characterise the functioning of the highest Court in every democracy. Either the
Court adopts an activist approach or resigns itself to passive role. In a country like India, judges adopt
an activist approach to bring about social and economic change and to improve the life conditions of
the people and make basic human rights available to them. The Supreme Court has revolved a new
doctrine of judicial activism with a view of making basic human rights meaningful and effective for
the deprived and exploited sections of humanity.
Judiciary is the third wing of the Government empowered to administer justice to the people of India.
The Courts are protectors of an individual s Fundamental and Legal Rights when they are violated.
But in these days, access to Court is also a difficult task

Erik Erikson s Stages Of Human Development
Erik Erikson is most famously known for his eight stages of human development. As a former student
of Freud, Erikson was interested in the going ons of early childhood development and what the
outcomes can be. With such an interest came his eight stages, each with a positive outcome and a
negative outcome, depending on the environment in which the individual develops. The first five
stages are the ones that are dependent a lot on how a parent reacts with their child, considering it
covers the first 18 year of life. The first five stages are the ones which will be discussed concerning
baby Jude. Jude was born 7 pounds 3 ounces on August 4 2019. At the beginning of his life, Jude will
begin to either develop trust or mistrust, the first stage of Erikson s development. This stage occurs
during the first year of life when Jude has needs that he has to rely on his parents for. When Jude cries,
he must be cared to to see if he needs feeding, changing, or simply to be held. Should his parents
attend to his needs in a timely and consistent manner, Jude will develop trust and begin to take that
trust into future relationships and situations, trusting that things will be okay. If Jude is left to cry
himself to sleep time and again and doesn t get the care or attention he needs, Jude will develop
mistrust, which will lead to fear in future relationships and endeavors. This first stage is a crucial stage
to set up because without this as a foundation, Jude cannot continue to grow in

  • 2. The Interesting Narrative Of The Life Of Olaudah Equiano American Literature has had many impacts on the American Society today, and there are many different ways we can relate it to society. Many different pieces of literature represent the changes that have shaped our society, and that reflect off of our society in America today. Some of the many American Literature pieces are: The World on the Turtles Back, Coyote and the Buffalo, Gettysburg Address, and The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano. Relating literature to society will help us to understand how American Literature has had an impact on society in American Society. The definition of American Literature is the literature written in the United States, or by its surrounding colonies. The story, Coyote and the Buffalo was retold by Mourning Dove, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Coyote and the Buffalo , the Buffalo and the Coyote have a dispute between them, and the Buffalo is somewhat vulnerable to the Coyote. The coyote finds the buffalo s skulls on the ground and throws it around, because he is dead. Little does he know, the buffalo comes to life and chases him. The buffalo ends up giving the coyote a chance, because he wants new horns, to kill the young buffalo. The Buffalo kills the young buffalo and takes the herd back. In return of the sharp horns, he gives coyote a calf, to live off of his fat, but warns him not to kill him when he becomes hungry. He promises to do this, but ends up becoming very sick of eating the fat, and kills the buffalo. In American society, we value loyalty, trust, and honesty. In this book even though the coyote is doing bad, we are still on his side. This often happens in society too, the bad people look good in others eyes, but in all reality, they are bad. Although he was beating up the skull and taunting the buffalo, we still want him to survive. Foolish and greedy are often hidden by lies, that only some people recognize. It ... Molebatsi (2001) Public Policy and Policy Analysis: The Rational Model Question: The rational model of public policy making, though heavily criticized, is the most widely used and or talked about model. Discuss why. By Lefoko O. Molebatsi (University of Botswana) Instructor: Prof G. S Maipose 2001 1 Selected Essays by Lefoko O. The decision maker will choose the alternative, and its consequences, that maximizes attainment of his or her goals, values, or objectives11. The outcome of this modus operandi is a rational decision that is, one that most effectively achieves a given end. In short, it optimizes; it is the best possible decision 11. Rational decisions bring about either large and basic or limited changes in public policies. Perhaps it is important to note that these decisions are more often than not in line with the ideals and aspirations of elites, who are happy with the political situation as it stands. Thus, this contributes (I submit) to the wide usage of the rational model within the fraternity of management policy and decision making. 5 Selected Essays by Lefoko O. Molebatsi (2001) Despite heavy criticism of the rational model, some authors continue to view it as an ideal. An idealized model of rational policymaking process consists of a „rational individual‟ undertaking the following sequential activities: 1. A goal for solving a problem is established 2. All significant consequences of each alternative strategy are predicted and the probability of those consequences occurring is estimated. 3. Finally, the strategy that most nearly solves the problem or solves it at least cost is selected12. 4. All alternative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hard Bop Essay Though I was introduced to numerous styles of Jazz this semester, each with their own merits, I will cover the phenomenon of Hard bop in this paper. I believe that hard bop is a style unlike any other, and it deserves more recognition. Though it only reached its height of commercial success through the 1950 s and 1960 s, I hope that it will be revived one day, as I believe it to be one of the greatest styles in Jazz history. Understanding hard bop involves understanding the cultural roots that spurred its development. In the 1930 s, big Swing bands such as the Count Basie Orchestra dominated the Jazz scene. It was a style that had a feeling of joy and freedom, in a time when the economy was in poor shape. The music served an important purpose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Miles Davis is one highly significant musician of the hard bop period. Known as the great innovator of Jazz, he was not known solely for hard bop, but rather numerous styles. Nonetheless, his recording of the album Walkin in 1954 is made an excellent contribution to the genre. Old bebop stars were featured in this album, with Kenny Clarke on the drums and Horace Silver on the piano. The album has the form of a 12 bar blues, and happens to be another obvious Jazz standard. Douglas Payne of All About Jazz explains the pure masterful skill of Miles Davis, saying Throughout, Davis sounds grand: comfortable, authoritative and well within his gamely element. His partners seem well teamed with him too, ready to walk or run to Davis s beat. Walkin offers at least two jazz essentials ( Walkin , Solar ) and it serves as an excellent place to begin or continue appreciating the trumpeter s bop significance, shortly before he contributed greatly ... • 6. The Pit And The Raven Analysis One way Poe demonstrates suspense in these works is through the use of an unreliable narrator. In both of these pieces, the main character is a mysterious and untrustworthy narrator. In The Raven, the narrator starts by saying, ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, / While I nodded, nearly napping (1, 3). The narrator has just awoken to the sound of knocking at his door. While it is up for debate, the narrator could very well be dreaming or hallucinating about the raven and the tapping, but the reader and even the narrator are waiting for a signal to explicitly show that it is just a figment of his imagination. In the other story, The Pit and the Pendulum, the narrator is introduced to us as criminal who has been sentenced to death. The narrator describes the moment saying, The sentence the dread sentence of death was the last of distinct accentuation which reached my ears [before swooning] (263). The reader discovers at the beginning of the story that the narrator has committed a crime so terrible that he has been sentenced to death. The audience spends the whole story trying to figure out when he will die and by which type of torment he will die to. In both of Poe s works the narrators are unreliable characters who the reader cannot completely trust, which leads to the suspense of waiting for the whole truth. Another literary element Poe uses in these stories to build suspense is a mysterious tone. In The Raven, the narrator ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Inclusion and Consultation Theory The principle of Inclusion tresses, among other concepts, that all members accept their fair share of responsibility for all children, including those with disabilities (Dettmer, Thurston, Dyck, 2005, p. 40). This shared responsibility and giftedness is facilitated through consultation theory, which employs a team approach to successful inclusion of students with disabilities within mainstream education. Sheridan, Richards and Smoot (2000) report that Urie Brofenbrenner (1977) In a seminal article, emphasized the importance of ecological considerations in child development by recognizing that a child is part of a number of interrelated systems, each with reciprocal and bidirectional influence on the others. (p.167) It is reported that the subsystems primarily addressed in consultation are the microsystem and the mesosystem. The mesosystem is reported to be defined as the immediate setting or system within which an individual functions at anyone point in time, such as a classroom, neighborhood, or home setting. (Sheridan, Richards and Smoot, 2000, p.167) Problems are addressed at this level at the time they occur in a setting or environment that is isolated in nature whereas the mesosystem is focused on relationships among immediate systems in an individual s environment, such as interrelations among the home and school settings. (Sheridan, Richards and Smoot, 2000, p. 167) The focus at this level is such that enables the identification and resolution of broader ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Taking a Look at the Death Penalty Death Penalty should be allowed under circumstances also known as capital punishment, where congress or any state legislature recommend the death penalty for murder and other capital crimes. Majority of the states are favor in death penalty, roughly around 32 states are favor and 18 states are against death penalty. In most cases, many argue that death penalty has violated the 8th amendment, where it bans cruel and unusual punishment. Therefore, they would go against death penalty. However, without the sentence to death, the chances of prisoner escaping prison are really high. If they are able to escape prison and get away with it, then they can continue committing crimes. Although some may argue that death penalty is harsh because if you kill someone; and then you take another person s life, then why should yours be freed? I personally do not agree with death penalty because taking away another person s life is not going to regain the victim s life back. However, the victim s family would want the person to be sentence to death, so the victim can rest in peace. I think that death penalty should be only allowed under circumstances, but then how can you really determined if the case should be ruled with death penalty? And how would the justice system know that they have made the correct decision? Did the decision of sentence to death turn out to be wrong, where the person is later found innocent? There are multiple of questions that people will be more concern about. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Stereotyping Is Bad Is stereotyping really bad? Well, it isn t bad because it helps people understand who does what because of this, right? However, that s not necessarily true. In this world, stereotyping has been a part of how we live. To some people, stereotyping has been a serious issue; to others, not so much. Stereotype is a term defined as: An oversimplified generalization about a person or group of people without regard for individual difference. An author named Shankar Vedanttam talks about this issue in his article How a Self Fulfilling Stereotype Can Drag Down Performance. We live in a society where we base how a certain race is because of an amount of people s wrong doing. I haven t opened my eyes until I ve come to the conclusion that we were all stereotyped because we needed to distinguish what a person is by what they looked liked and how they act. However, these people shouldn t give us a reason why we need to neglect the good people who have done fantastic things. • 10. Psychoanalytic Theory Of Human Development Psychoanalytic Theory Psychoanalytic Theory is a theory of human development that holds that irrational, unconscious drives and motives, often originating in childhood, underlie human behavior. It is thought to influence every aspect of thinking and behavior, from the smallest details of life to the crucial choices of a lifetime. Sigmund Freud is an Austrian physician who believed the stages of human development were characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body. Oral Stage (Birth to 1 year) In infancy, everything the child gets a hold of goes to their mouth. The lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. They love to suck on their fingers or pacifier majority of the time, even in their sleep. Anal Stage (1 3 years) The anal is the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. During this time children are beginning toilet training. They are now able to interpret when they need to use the restroom and able to communicate to the parents when they need to go. Phallic Stage (3 6 years) During this stage, the penis is the most important body part, and pleasure is derived from genital stimulation. This is the time when they begin to discover their genitals, girls may ask questions while on the other hand, boys may feel a sense of pride. • 11. Impact Of Hunting On Tropical Forests In the article Impacts of Hunting on Tropical Forests in Southeast Asia, by Harrison and others, the authors examine how a wide variety of factors have influenced hunting practices in Southeast Asia and led to a rapid decline in animal populations in the region. According to the criteria outlined by Clark, the problem in this article is well defined: the practices employed by hunters are unsustainable and indiscriminate, destroying large numbers of vulnerable and rare animal species. Solutions must be found to protect these species while also respecting the cultural rights of those to hunt. Hunting in Southeast Asia is largely an informal, indiscriminate activity that is often undertaken by amateurs. Hunters often venture out without a specific quarry in mind or hunting may be incidental to other activities...Indiscriminate methods, such as snares and gum traps (for birds), are commonplace, and even hunters with shotguns frequently shoot smaller quarry. In that spaceship, a group of research team includes Chief Medical Officer McCoy, Chief Engineer Scott, and four other specialists, under the command of First Officer Spock. For example, Spock tried to supply Scott with all necessary equipment to fix the spaceship. Nonetheless, the situation itself is also significant to determine how favorable it is towards the leader. From this perspective, it is necessary to classify the circumstances into two states, which are normal situation and emergency situation. In normal environment, everybody carries out their typical, routine duties concerning their roles. Spock and his subordinates has established good leader member relationship, as they treated each other with respect. Furthermore, since the tasks are well structured, everyone clearly understands what needs to be done and how to do it. Apart from that the chief s position power is rather strong. Additionally, if the Five Bases of Power by French and Raven (1959) is also taken into account, Spock claimed to have personal power of expertise and referent too. To conclude the routine situational characteristics, good leader member relations, high task structure, and strong position power lead to situation I (see figure 1), which effectively matches with Spock s task oriented style (Jones George, 2012). In contrast, unusual circumstances include the crisis of shuttlecraft accident and the charge from local tribes. Leader member relations are apparently poor. Most of his decisions seemed to contradict with his subordinates opinions and common ethics, which erode their trust and loyalty. Moreover, most crewmembers lacked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Jewelry gives a lot of details on where it was made and the interesting designs on the necklace and earrings. The Ganymede Jewelry was found in Macedonia near the area of Thessaloniki before 1913 and the jewelry pieces date back to being formed 330 300 B.C. They date back to the Hellenistic Greek period. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... o A.1. has never been seriously challenged by another brand. Currently, A.1. has no reason to believe that Lawry s could become serious competition. Disadvantages o A.1. stands to lose part of its current market share due to the extreme price difference between its steak sauce ($0.50 / ounce regularly) and Lawry s new steak sauce ($0.36 / ounce regularly). o Currently A.1. is guaranteed to receive chief ad placements during the important holiday weekends. If A.1. makes no changes, there is a high probability that A.1. will lose these placements as Publix is already considering Lawry s for the Memorial Day ad. Recommendation I would recommend a combination of two of the alternatives above. First, I would recommend that A.1. strengthen its relationships with its suppliers and distributors. Although A.1. would incur additional expenses in the form of legal fees and sales representative time, the benefits it could gain would be extremely useful in competing against Lawry s. A.1. would ensure a high quality product, adequate shelf space, and principal display space. These would reinforce A.1. as the preferred steak sauce and provide additional brand awareness. Second, I would recommend that A.1. alter its advertising program for the upcoming year. With Lawry focusing on May, June, and July with its advertising program, A.1. needs to match it to maintain its current brand awareness. A.1. has been the number one brand of steak sauce people ... If you re the person who eats a whole tub of chocolate ice cream, you probably accompanied it with romantic movies. Although they are comforting for the time being, they always leave you to wonder, why didn t my break up didn t have a happy ending like the ones in the movies? In Peyton Reed s 2006 romantic comedy, The Break Up, it portrays the realistic events and feelings of a failed relationship. In comparison to other romantic comedies, this film seems to stand out because it teaches the audience the lesson that not all break ups leads to make ups. In The Break Up, the main purpose is to show the realistic events of a toxic relationship between Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn). Brooke is a very classy art dealer and Gary, in Brooke s eyes, is just a tour bus driver. The first scene shows how the couple met a Chicago Cubs baseball game and Brooke was actually on a date with another man. The scene ended with Gary asking her to go out sometime and the following scene is a slide show of all of Brooke and Gary s pictures together, portraying that even perfect relationships have their own issues. A tragic hero is a character, one of high esteem, whose internal imperfection leads to their downfall. Both Macbeth and Hamlet are well known and of high social class when an unexpected calamity hits. Hamlet, the son of the king of Denmark, is a charismatic prince most immediate to [the] throne (Shakespeare, Ham I.ii.109). Hamlet s fate, on the other hand, is to set right the murder of his father(x). It both cases, neither of the characters fates are what killed them, but rather their tragic flaws. While Macbeth ultimately succumbs to his unchecked ambition and rashly murders any potential and unlikely threat to the throne, Hamlet procrastinates and fails to fulfill his revenge in a timely, simplistic manner. Because of his uncontrolled ambition, Macbeth blindly trusts the witches who promise inviolable royalty, murders his closest friend, and kills the family of his nemesis. Hamlet, on the other hand, weary of the legitimacy of the supernatural, puts on an antic disposition and delays his revenge as he searches for confirmation of the ghost s accusations (x). Hamlet s procrastination causes him to miss multiple opportunities at revenge. For example, he chooses not to kill a vulnerable, praying Claudius (x). Book Of Exodus Comparison Essay The Book of Exodus, known in Hebrew as Sefer Shemot ( Book of Names ), is the second book of the Torah (Pentateuch) and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. Exodus recounts the events of the Egyptian enslavement of the Israelites, their subsequent liberation by their god, Yahweh, and the Deliverer, Moses, and their journey to the Promised Land. To facilitate the comprehension of Exodus or to make hundreds of millions of dollars film studios have produced many film adaptations of Exodus two in the case of Cecil B. DeMille. • 23. Artificial Intelligence And Human Intelligence Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence is the technology that involves computers and machines displaying it s own intelligence. The practical uses for computers making their own decisions is a very important technology to develop, because this would allow the deployment of robots in environments too harsh for humans to brave, such as other planets, or even war zones. While artificial intelligence is a very good idea, true human intelligence will be very difficult to reach. While a computer could have the ability to assess situations and communicate like a human, it would never be able to use common sense or reasoning the same as a human, such as knowing why not to put your hand in a fire. It would also be near impossible to program a computer to use it s decision making to form it s own opinions and values as a human can. Examples of where artificial intelligence can be applied is in self driving cars. By developing a computer s ability to make it s own decisions, self driving cars could become a viable and common technology. This technology is very important as it removes the factor of human error in driving, which in turn could decrease car crashes or potentially eliminate them.
