The Importance Of The Hollywood Star System
There is no doubt that Hollywood is an industry based on selling movies and what
sells movies better than the marketing of a Hollywood star. An actor or actress can not
only make movies successful, but in addition their images are also profitable. The
Hollywood Star System has been very profitable for Hollywood and contributed to
saving Hollywood in the late 1920s and 1930s when studios found it financially hard to
survive. Once Hollywood realized their star s had financial power there was no stopping
the lengths they would go to in order to sell their star s persona.
The Hollywood Star System originated during the Studio System in which actors and
actress were signed to long term contracts with the studios. Moreover, studios understood
that the actor s public persona was profitable. Studios invested heavily in the actor s
public image or persona that they wanted the public to perceive. Studios had contractual
morality clauses that outlined an actor s behavior so as to not tarnish the image that the
studio was promoting. Therefore, the star system was an economic boon to the studios
and this style of contract system lasted from the 1920s to the early 1960s (Star, 2017).
However, this left the actors feeling more like a commodity, than actual people or
employees, which created a contentious relationship between the studios and the stars
that represented them. This atmosphere often led to public power struggles , when actors
challenged the studios in an attempt to have
Celebrity Puppets Essay
Celebrity Puppets
The concept of using sports stars to market non sport items has soared to new heights.
Every corporation in the world is trying to get the edge over their competitors. The
classic example is that of the Cola Wars. During the 1980s, Pepsi and Coca Cola began
an advertising slugfest, in which Pepsi emerged victorious by using Madonna and
Michael Jackson as puppets in their commercials. These two companies, as well as
thousands of others, have taken advantage of exposing celebrities in their commercials
and advertisements. This is done as a means to persuade the public that these products are
worth buying.
As the years went by, marketers began to realize that in America, sports imagery
constituted the most popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is how companies view their celebrity endorsers and partners: the companies see
that it can bring in a profit from the celebrities on field successes. To make it look as
though these celebrities are not being used, the companies pay them a small dividend as
a thank you. In essence, the companies are controlling said celebrities. In the case of Mr.
Owens, by dangling him in front of the public eye, the company holds him by the strings
to make him do as they wish through a pay off.
The last decade has seen the emergence of a new breed of celebrities onto the
marketing scene. These celebrities are not involved in sports that society easily
recognizes. Instead, they are the bowlers of the PBA Tour and the drivers of the
NASCAR Winston Cup Series. As late as the early 1990s bowling tournaments were
named after their specific location and bowlers were viewed as just that, bowlers.
Advancements in bowling ball technology created a more competitive field of bowlers
and a new and younger generation of marketers has realized that these bowlers are a
great source of advertising for their products. As a result, today s PBA bowlers wear
patches with their sponsors on them. Some have even gone as far as placing their
major sponsors logo on their spare balls. These sponsors include Odor Eaters, Pepsi,
Miller High Life, Holiday Inn, and Baby Ruth, to name a few.
NASCAR, the nation s fastest growing sport, has received sponsor money since its
creation.
Patricia Bellamy Interview Report
Over this past week, I had the opportunity to speak with a notable alumni of the
University of Connecticut, Patricia Bellamy. Ms. Bellamy currently serves as the
Assistant Director of Husky Sport at the University of Connecticut. Ms. Bellamy as
mentioned, is a notable alumni of UConn and completed both her undergraduate and
master s degree at the university. Overall, Ms. Bellamy is an extremely successful,
intelligent, and all around wonderful person that the University has been lucky to have
as a student and now as an employee. In the interview with Ms. Bellamy she discussed
the large impact that Husky Sport has had on her life and her future. Ms. Bellamy has
had a great deal of involvement within Husky Sport since she started as an undergraduate
at the University of Connecticut. Through her work with Husky Sport, Ms. Bellamy
admits that it was the children in Hartford and her experience on site that drove her to
continue her work with the program and ultimately decide to pursue a master s in social
work. Throughout her years with Husky Sport, and the many different experiences that

Bellamy reflects on all the progress that the Husky Sport has made, and admits that there
is still work that needs to be done. She admires the relationships that she has formed with
Husky Sport. She describes a key component of the success of the program as being the
achievement of creating strong bonds not only between the mentors and the children, but
amongst the mentors to one another, and the children to one another. Husky Sport, she
exclaims, is the type of program that brings people together who are truly interested in
the work that they do. Ms. Bellamy furthers her discussing by praising the amazing
Husky Sport staff. She admits that without the wonderful Husky Sport staff, the program
would be nowhere as close to successful or enjoyable as it currently

Slasher Informative Speech
The Slasher Film: The Modern Day Fairy Tale
General Purpose: To inform the audience about the psychological appeal of the slasher
film, a brief history of the genre, and the links to urban legends and fairy tales.
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about direct link to morality tales and the
slasher film genre.
Thesis Statement: Slasher films are modern day morality tales, rooted deeply in urban
legends and fairy tales, as clearly depicted in John Carpenter s Halloween, where
characters are punished with violence for their risky behavior.
I.Introduction
A.When asked to describe the two types of horror films, director Guillermo del Toro
stated: Much like fairy tales, there are two facets of horror. One is pro institution,
which is the most reprehensible type of fairy tale: Don t wander into the woods, and
always obey your parents. The other type of fairy tale is completely anarchic and
antiestablishment Guillermo del Toro. (Attention Getter) In my presentation I will focus
on the aspect of the slasher film genre as modern day fairy tales, with an underlying
message of morality.
B.John Carpenter s 1978 film Halloween epitomizes the slasher films, encompassing the
most common themes of this genre, including teenagers making the transition into
adulthood by engaging in reckless behavior, a maniac using violence as a teaching tool
for the audience, a final survivor girl, and an immortal maniac. (Thesis)

Pursuing A Career In Secondary Education
The goals, future career plans and aspirations for college and beyond that I have are
several. My most important goal I wish to accomplish is to pursue a career in
secondary education. As the years go by and while being in college, I desire to gain the
most experience and intelligence to become an inspirational high schooleducator and
coach. I plan to acquire a well rounded educationand maintain a high GPA throughout my
collegeeducation. I enjoy serving as a role model for young adults as I have served as a
volunteer coach and respect retreat leader in my high school. It is these very
experiences that have helped me know that I would love to work with young adults.
Being able to help someone is what I enjoy and love. There are several reasons that
have led me to choose this path. My parents have been my teachers, coaches, role
models, and leaders inspiring me to achieve my entire life path. Helping others when
in need is one of the most rewarding and self satisfying things one can feel and an
excellent opportunity to give back to the community. I enjoy being able to lend a hand
to anyone in need, regardless of their ethnicity, culture or disabilities. We are all human
beings and always need someone s help and compassion in certain situations that come
across our lives. The greatest and most important reason I plan to pursue a career in
secondary education is because it is a rewarding career to help others. This career
choice will allow me to be in a position to give something back to my community after
finishing my college career.
Descriptive Essay On A Rare Bird
A quiet bird. One that lived deep inside the forest. One that was barely seen when
wanderers passed the green and brown of the trees, and the underwood, the grass and
the leaves. All they ve seen was the sunlight filtered through this army of leaves above
their heads and in height of their eyes, caressing their faces as they pass through a
void of never ending emerald. The tears of a bygone night moistened their cheeks and
they d ignore the mourning. Footsteps sunk deep into the velvet ground covered by
moss. They sank so deep that the strollers were afraid of being locked into this green
hell forever. Dragonflies and other winged insects rose with the last remains of mist that
told the story of a lonely, rare bird. The strollers stopped walking... Show more content on

Instead, I am a bird and the hunter caught me. A big, darkly dressed fellow with dead
eyes and skin as bright as silk when it lay in my mother s hand. The silk my mother s face
was covered in when she died. Her face gone, hidden beneath a layer of expensive
fabric. I never understood why they would do such a thing, hiding a face of a beloved
beneath a cover. Then, the hunter grabbed me tight and put me into a wooden cage.
He tapped his finger against it and smiled at me. Surely, he did not mean me harm, but
he harmed me anyway. I cannot flap my wings, I can no longer fly, no longer can I
graze the air with my coat. All what is left that I can do is to sing, but not too loud or
they ll place a cover across my cage and hide what I was once. Maybe it will be silk

Discourses of Conformity in One Flew over the Cuckoo’s...
Throughout the novel One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest written by Ken Kesey, and the
poem Advice to Young Ladies crafted by A.D. Hope, there is evidence to suggest that
the discourses represented by the characters in the novel and poem unveil the ways
discourses of conformity underpin the characters actions, perceptions and motives, as
well as inviting and silencing beliefs, attitudes and values. The author and poet are able
to strongly convey their beliefs to the reader from their personal experiences. The four
dominant discourses that both the novel and poem share and represents: conformity,
sexuality and religious. These will be analysed and compared.
The dominant discourse of conformity is characterised predominantly by ... Show more

Kesey uses several symbolic references that lead the readers to believe that McMurphy
symbolised Christ to the men in the hospital. These extracts examplify how McMurphy
develops as a Christ figure. The novel depicts how the religious discourse positions and
privileges the character.
The poem, Advice to Young Ladies , crafted by A.D. Hope, does contain similar
dominant discourse of conformity in Kesey s novel. Although it foregrounds a
particular viewpoint similar to the one presented in Kesey s novel, the representations
of religious and sexuality supports the conformity discourse. Postumia is not
conformed to the Vestal Virgin as she is thought to talk too witty for her age. This can
be demonstrated by: Too witty for a young girl, her eyes, her walk. Too lively, her
clothes too smart to be demure. (Line 7 8) The poet positions readers to see Postumia s
smartness as a threat for men and her life being torn from her. A religious discourse
can be used to explain this phenomenon. Hope portrays to the reader is that back then,
men were superior and women were made invisible. Females did not have the right to
use intelligence or even the right to express themselves. Hope portrays that men were
superior then women. Females did not have the right to use intelligence or even the right
to express themselves. An example of this can be demonstrated in line 47: Than whose

Characteristics Of A Hero In Beowulf
It is hard to be a hero, just have to be selfless and put the needs or well being of others
ahead of yourself own. Heroes also usually present themselves in times of need when
nobody else does, which makes them stand out, because they are selfless and put other
people ahead of themselves. Beowulf showed many signs of being a heroand also showed
that he was selfless. A modern day hero that could be related to Beowulf who showed the
same heroic traits is Martin Luther King JR.
One quality that a hero must possess is that they need to be selfless. They need to be
selfless because they need to put other people before themselves. Beowulf was a hero
and this quote shows how he is selfless when he volunteered to go help out Hrothgar
and protect everyone; Raffell writes, In his far off home Beowulf, Higlac s follower
and the strongest of the Geats greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world
heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a boat fitted out,
proclaiming that he d go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to Hrothgar,
now when help was needed (23). The main thing that makes a hero is that they will go
out of their way to help other people. Heroes need to present themselves in times of
need and that is not something selfish people would usually do. They present
themselves in times of need and sometimes even risk their lives to save other people.
Someone cannot be selfish and be a hero because sure they could help people and do

Problems Associated with Celiac Disease and Lactose...
Introduction: Enzymes are essential to the proper functioning of the human body.
Enzymes are catalysts, which cause reactions to occur. The two primary classes of
enzymes for maintaining life functions are digestive and metabolic enzymes. The
primary digestive enzymes are classified as proteases, amylases and lipases. These
enzymes can help breakdown food molecules. Metabolic enzymes are responsible for the
repairing and structuring of every cell. Inadequate production of digestive enzymes can
have a negative impact on the breakdown of food into the various nutrients our bodies
require.

The amount of small intestine damaged due to a loss of villi determines the severity of
symptoms due to the diseases. Severe signs and symptoms of malabsorption are evident
in people whose small intestine is affected by a loss of villi (Marks). Therefore this
explains the various problems a person with celiac disease encounters. 1
Lactose intolerance occurs when the body has a hard time digesting dairy products.
Lactose is a milk sugar and is broken down by enzymes in the intestinal track, allowing
the enzymes to be used as an energy source. Lactase is an enzyme which breaks down
lactose. Lactose intolerance occurs when the intestine does not contain lactase
(Jackson). Low lactose activity in the small intestine, allows undigested lactose to
pass into the colon, where the bacteria are able to convert the sugar into hydrogen gas
and organic acids. This causes symptoms such as bloating and cramping ( Lactose
Intolerance ). The two causes of lactose intolerance are primary lactase deficiency and
secondary lactase deficiency. In primary lactase deficiency the level of lactase enzyme
falls as a person gets older. This does not allow the person to tolerate the amount of
lactose that they were used to. This affects around 70 percent of the population.
Secondary lactase deficiency is a temporary condition in which the level of lactase drops
due to a problem in a person s digestive
How Does Theseus Show Sacrifice
Renewal through Sacrifice In modern life persons of all beliefs make sacrifices.
Sacrifice is seen as a major developing theme in The King Must Die. Throughout, The
King Must die, Theseus is shown in many cases where a sacrifice has been taken place
or where he must make one himself. What makes the sacrificeisn t the action; it is the
willingness to do so. Through the novel, Mary Renault s goal was to convey, to
modern day readers, the renewal that sacrifices reveals. In the early life of Theseus he
doesn t know much about sacrifice. He first sees it when the people of Troizen
sacrificed the king horse. At the time he was very confused on why they killed the
king horse. The king of Troizen, Pitheus, explains to Theseus that the king horse was a
sacrifice to Poseidon, and explains how the horses Moria , was to be sacrificed to the
god Poseidon, and that the king horse must be renewed for the current one has grown
old and weak. Theseus continues with life in Troizen until he finds out who is father

So he decides to form a group called the cranes . He will lead and protect them. He
states that if anyone is to die he will be the first. This is also a sacrifice because he is
willing to die first, before any others. Theseus and the cranes soon start learning the
bull dance. Every time in the arena he is risking his life dancing with the bull. Days in
the king of Crete, Minos, asks Theseus to do something for him. The king realizes that
he himself is sick and is no longer fit to rule Crete. He wants Theseus to kill him, and
become the next king. Do it then, when I evoke the Mother (Renault 275). This is an
act of sacrifice because Minos is willingly dying, and he is doing it for the betterment of
his people. Theseus then severs Minos head of with an

Readers Reaction
This was quite an interesting story. There were three sections to the story which broke
the story in three different times in one day. The characters were all very nonchalant
except for the priest who showed some emotion when he found out that old Teofilo
died. The story kept our interest, however, it did not lead a very clear trail to the end, and
there was no real climax where we felt there was a good peak. The story needs to be read
more than once to really be appreciated.

Style and Tone
The author s language is concrete, and for the most part pretty easy to understand. The
reading is short, and very descriptive. The author uses descriptive adjective, she wants
you to image exactly where the story takes place, and what is happening.
The author uses a lot of imaginary devices. The author uses similes, metaphors, and
repetition.
#61656;And the water fell through the light from the sundown like August rain that fell
while the sun was still shining. Obviously, that s a simile
#61656;The people stood close to each other with little clouds of steam puffing from their
faces.
The clouds of steam puffing from their faces, represents the weather, and how cold it is
outside.
The author repeats the word pueblo a lot. She is reminding the reader that the story takes
place in a Native American culture.
The sentences are predominantly short but descriptive. They are punctuated and
grammatically correct, but the structure of the story isn t formal. The author uses a lot of
conversation, and many paragraphs. The author also divides the story into three chapters,
even though the story takes place in a short period of time. The chapters aren t really
necessary.
The author s tone is detached from the story. There isn t any emotion expressed, the
story is really a series of events. As a reader, I didn t feel any specific strong emotion.

Social Theories And Conflict In The Hunger Games
The Hunger Game film is an emotional series that resemble a severe caste system
setting. The plot showcases a transformation of an unfortunate girl becoming a beacon of
hope for the rebellion. By doing this, the movie revolves around three themes which are
backed by theories and models in sociology which include opportunity, explained by the
Status Theory, conflict, explained by Karl Max and Max Weber, and interaction,
represented by the Dramaturgical Model.
As cited before, Panem revolves around a caste system. Residing in a caste system
means that it is nearly impossible for one to move out of the social class that they were
born into. The social classes in this movie include the people in power which is the
Capitol, the people who live a decent life which are districts 1 and 2 because they are
closest to the capital, and lastly the dirt poor which are districts 3 12. By using the
extreme caste system, the plot successfully showcases the two most basic statuses which
are achieved and ascribed. They are both very prevalent in Katniss. Because of her
survival skills and hunting prowess, she earns her way into winning the Hunger Games
which in turn made her a hero for district 12. This demonstrates how she achieved her
status. Nevertheless, she was born poor in district 12. This status was ascribed to her. The
most important status, which the second movie revolves around, is Katniss master
status. This status is meant to dominate all other statuses. Her master status is
Strengths And Weakness Characteristics Of Dyslexia
The British Psychological Society (1999) gave a definition of dyslexia; dyslexia is
evident when accurate and fluent word reading and / or spelling develops very
incompletely or with great difficulty.
After completing several assessments with Angela, the profile from her results suggest a
profile that is normally associated with the strengths and weakness characteristic of
dyslexia.
During the testing, she demonstrated great enthusiasm for the tasks, and perseverance
while she was doing some of the more challenging ones. Angela has a very positive
attitude to everything she does and this is one of her strengths.
Angela s overall underlying ability falls in the below average range. Her reading and
spelling skills are below average ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Difficulties with short term and working memory and sequencing are common in
dyslexia. This can contribute significantly to problems with reading, and with following
verbal instructions, remembering information, concentrating, and maintaining a train of
thought, especially in a busy classroom.
Below average scores in tests concerned with recalling information, working memory
and low concentration would all have an impact on Angela s ability to acquire literacy
skills. They are also all potential indicators of dyslexia. For example, the spoonerisms sub
test, which Angela found very difficult to complete, involves the short term auditory
memory/working memory, because you must remember two separate sounds while you
switch them around, for example top cat = cop tat.
Recommendations Angela should be able to make good progress with additional help in
her weaker areas, and I recommend that her response to any intervention should be
monitored closely and reassessed after three months. She needs a multisensory teaching
programme designed around her needs and ability, with steps built in boosting her
confidence and self esteem. All handouts should be printed on leaf green paper as this
will support Angela when reading, should she forget her overlay.
Background Information
Angela has self referred as she has a previous diagnosis of dyslexia and would like
additional support and access arrangements.

Diversity The Workplace
Diversity is an essential aspect when it comes to productivity in a workplace. Having
multiple types of people with an assortment of different backgrounds can be very
rewarding when coming up with ideas and reasoning business plans. In order to be
successful you must be able to look at things from many different perspectives and
understand how each decision effects different individuals. Having an assorted group of
people on a team can provide inside advice from many different socioeconomic, cultural,
and racial perceptions of how things are and how they think they should be. Not only will
this make your businessmore successful, it will also open your mind to new traditions
and cultures that you have never been exposed to. Diversity is what makes America great

Microsoft Sql Server 2016 Is Now Live
Microsoft SQL Server 2016 is now live. The new database software became available
as of June 1, and it boasts incredible functionality at breakneck speed. Here is a
summary of what service providers need to know about SQL Server 2016, as well as
what it means for SQL Server 2016 licensing requirements. Joseph Sirosh, Microsoft s
Corporate Vice President, Data Group, said SQL Server 2016 is the fastest and most
price performant database for hybrid transactional and analytical processing (HTAP). The
integration of advanced analytics into a transactional database is revolutionary. Today a
majority of advanced analytic applications use a primitive approach of moving data from
databases into the application tier to derive intelligence. This... Show more content on

This allows users to query structured and unstructured data with the simplicity of T
SQL, an extension to SQL. New Stretch Database technology now targets hybrid cloud
solutions to reduce storage costs, simplify IT operations and improve overall
availability. This ultimately results in more historical data accessible by transparently
and securely stretching warm and cold OLTP data to Microsoft Azure on demand
without application changes. Lastly, faster replicas can be placed in Azure to provide
cost effective disaster recovery and backups. For additional information, read the SQL
Server 2016 Release Notes and SQL Server 2016 datasheet. Biggest Takeaway for
Service Providers? Among the bevy of new features included in SQL Server 2016, the
added security benefits are front and center. This is significant for service providers,
who by now are asked constantly by their end user clients how to achieve stronger data
security from malicious and everyday hackers. SQL Server 2016 includes a new
feature called Always Encrypted . This feature lets users encrypt data all the way from
server to client, since it depends on client side keys, which are distributed to clients. A
new Always Encrypted enabled driver is required, but the encryption is transparent to
applications. This added level of security is significant because of the costs now
associated with data breaches. According to the Ponemon Institute s 2015 Cost of Data

given to the federal government. However, the Anti Federalists felt the need to have the
bill of rights for safeguarding individual liberty(BILL OF RIGHTS OF THE UNITED
STATESOF AMERICA (1791). In 1789, when the Congress proposed the first ten
amendments for their first session, they received three fourths by several States, so it
became a part of the Constitution(1791: US Bill of Rights (1st 10 Amendments) with
commentary). The Federalists supported a stable national government to preserve order,
and 2/3 majority of the states must ratify for the Bill of Rights to be a part of the
Constitution(Bill of Rights 1791). It went through several changes and The House
approved 17 amendments, but the Senate only approved 12. Therefore, they were sent to
the states for approval in August of 1789, and ten were quickly adopted (or, ratified). The
Bill of Rights was officially passed on December 15, 1791, when Virginia ratified the
amendments(Bill of Rights 1791). Although the Constitution doesn t really focus
economic terms in details, it still recognizes the right to own property and enter into
contracts(The Constitution economic rights and opportunities).

Senior Portfolio
As I reach the end of my senior year, I want to reflect on how the MacMurray nursing
program has helped me become a great novice nurse. From my sophomore to senior
year, I have completed numerous assignments that were created to prepare me for the
nursing field. Nine program outcomes were specifically created to guide me through the
nursing program. I have compiled, examined, and reflected on each of these nine
outcomes below and identified if they have prepared me for my nursing career after
graduation.
Professionalism
The first outcome to prepare me for my nursing career states that a MacMurray nursing
student should be able to: assume responsibility for supporting the profession by
demonstrating concern for the welfare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also believe that MacMurray s nursing program has helped me achieve this outcome
by encouraging me to look up recent journal articles for my school work and incorporate
this information in the care that I provide to my patients. One project that helped me
achieve this outcome was the research paper and poster that I completed for NURS 401.
This assignment encouraged me to research a current topic, find evidenced based
information, and determine how the topic could be improved or incorporated into the
hospital to improve patient
Cellular Respiration Process
Cellular Respiration is the combination of metabolic cells and processes that occur
within the organisms cells. This process coverts biochemical energy into ATP and results
in the removal of waste products. There are four main steps of Cellular Respiration.
Glycolysis, Transport Reaction, Citric Acid Cycle and Oxidative Phosphorylation. These
processes and or steps involved in cellular respirationare known as catabolic reactions.
These reactions are important because they are what cause the larger molecules to
break down into smaller molecules releasing energy that is necessary in order to carry
out the rest of the process. The overall goal of cellular respiration is to make ATP from
the food that we consume. The Ending step of cellular respiration that is responsible for
this is Oxidative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interference in Oxidative Phosphorylation is know as uncoupling . DNP causes
protons to be pumped across the gradient interfering with the pathway of hydrogen in the
final energy production. This completely interferes with the process of creating ATP
because the leak of protons is increasing. When this happens, Potential energy is
transformed into heat instead of ATP (Grundlingh et al. 2011). When the process of
creating ATP fails, the body must compensate in other ways. To fulfill this, metabolism
increases and speeds up to create energy needed. By doing this, fat and carbohydrates are
broken down and being converted to energy. As this happens, more fat is being burned
and more heat is being produced and causes weight loss due to the heat being more
abundant (Cotton 2015). Throughout this uncoupled inference, Hypothermia is the
result. Hypothermia is when the body is over heated and reaches an unsubstantial
temperature. This is known as the failure of Thermoregulatory homeostasis. DNP is
creating too much heat causing this reaction (Grundlingh et al.
John Donne Research Paper
To this day John Donne is still considered to be one of the greatest love poets from
England. He was born to a Elizabeth Heywood and John Donne, some time between
January 24th and June 19th in 1572. His mother Elizabeth Heywood was the youngest of
her siblings and the grand niece to the Catholic Martyr Thomas More. His father John
Donnewas a prosperous London merchant, but his actual father died when Donne was
only four and was believed to be a descendant from an ancient family in Wales. The
family was Roman Catholic and this was a very anti catholic period in England and this
would greatly affect Donne in many ways throughout his life. When Donne was around
11 years old he attended Oxford University and later on Cambridge. He was never...

During the 1590s he focused a lot of his time on books, traveling, and love interests. It
is believed that this is around the time that he wrote most of his famous love poems.
During this time he travelled to Spain and Italy where he began to study law. He
studied at Thavies Inn in 1592 and Lincoln Inn from 1592 to 1594. Donne had a
brother named Henry who was convicted of Catholic Sympathies in 1593 and died in
prison. When he was 25 he began to work as a secretary for Sir Thomas Egerton, who
was the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England. He worked for Egerton for several
years and over time they became close friends. It was also around this time the Donne
betrayed his Catholic religion and converted to Anglicanism. In the December of 1601
he married Anne More, who was 16 years old at the time. Anne was the daughter of
George More and the niece of Sir Thomas Egerton. These two men supported their
marriage greatly and went to extreme lengths
What Is The Case Of Ron Wilkins Cityside Financial Services
Objective: The case at hand, Cityside Financial Services, a disguised consumer bank,
services both African American urban community as well as a wealthier class, white
clientele. Cityside gained a high degree of customer acceptance that were widely
perceived as a successful model of the business case for diversity .As days progress and
continual success rate intact, the bank s leadership slowly began discovering growing
resentment and demoralization among its African American employees. Ron Wilkins
thereby faced a challenge to tackle the animosity arsing among the racially diverse group
of management to maintain the essence of diversity, which remained the main attraction
point for bank services. Ron Wilkins had to formalize a strategy that
The Road Ahead Will Be Long

12/10/2014 Martin Luther king JR
In words of Barrack Obama, The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep.
Obama provides a simple yet strong illustration of the hardships and obstacles faced when
Striving for change. The statement made by Obama holds the same meaning when trying
to
Change communities that are like Irvington. Both Martin Luther King and Barrack
Obama have a Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in
African American
Communities. For instance King stated, One hundred year later, the negro is still
languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own
land. This quote shines an
Illuminating light on the problems seen in Irvington, because we have allowed other
Communities to surpass us. While we quarrel and argue amongst each other, we do not
see that we are lagging behind the rest of New Jersey and The United States. This
township is in critical condition, because the sense of unity, dreams, and change has been
lost. To revive our fair township of Irvington we must recover from the phlegmatic state
which we are so accustomed to and take action, or like a house with a weak foundation
the town will soon crumble to the ground. To begin improving the living standards of
Irvington the community, we must come together, scrutinize the community, and solve
our basic problems. Then, this township can advance. In the words
High School, Collegiate, And Professional Activities
In my first essay, I took a deeply cynic position against competition. But, as discussed by
Shields, maybe I have not seen true competition. Perhaps what I have viewed in high
school, collegiate, and professional activities is actually decompetition (n.d.).
Decompetition is like competition, but it primarily promotes the worst attributes in
athletics, producing a negative outcome (Shields, n.d.). Regardless, over the course of
this semester, my view of competition has been changed. I now hold a neutral view of
competition. I do not believe that all competition is innately bad but not all is inherently
good either. The gameof jacksplayed today was the most pivotal activity in the shift of
my opinion. No one in my group had ever played the game. Instead of working
individually, so one of us could triumph over the others, we worked together to find
the best strategies and methods. Every time someone threw their handful of jacks to
the floor, we analyzed them to find the best way to gather the jacks. We moaned when
someone failed to gather their jacks in time and cheered when someone did the
seemingly impossible. To us, the game was still fresh and new; we used each other s
perspectives to figure it out. During our first game, for instance, Amanda received zero
points, and I only won ten. But, by game two, Amanda and I, through trial and error and
the feedback from the others, sharpened our skills to earn 51 and 40 points respectively.
I was fairly happy with my success,
The Political Side Of Ideology
Ideology is a set of opinions or beliefs of a group or individual. Very often ideology
refers to a set of political beliefs or a set of ideas that characterize a particular culture.
What will be discussed is the political side of Ideology(or better known as Political
Ideology), which is a very controversial hot topic issue, that is always being discussed in
any setting. In the United States, there are two main sides, the Democrats and the
Republicans. Democrats are a member of the Democratic Partyor someone who believes
in equality for all people and ruling by the majority. A Republican is an advocate of a
republic which is where you live in a country with a leader who was freely and
democratically elected by the people, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This statement from the Democratic parts is a very strong one and appeals to many
Americans, it states We are committed to doing everything we can to build a full
employment economy, where everyone has a job that pays enough to raise a family
and live in dignity with a sense of purpose (Democrats). This is a very strong statement
from the platform because they say that they want to see everyone succeeding and
feeling that they have a purpose in their life. The Democrats have also stated that our
economy should strengthen our country and work for every American, not just those
at the top. We are committed to helping all Americans meet the challenges of the 21st
century by spurring job creation, rebuilding our infrastructure, investing in clean
energy technologies and small businesses, and making sure corporations, the wealthy,
and Wall Street pay their fair share (Democrats). This statement shows how the
Democrats want all people to be treated in a fair manner. The Democrats also believe
that people of wealth and big businesses should have to pay more in things like taxes,
because they have a lot more money. Democrats want to cut taxes for the American
people and help people get jobs that are not able to. America is still struggling to come
out of the economic free fall of 2008, which caused jobs and stocks to go down.
Democrats believe that they have solved this issue by

  • 2. The Importance Of The Hollywood Star System There is no doubt that Hollywood is an industry based on selling movies and what sells movies better than the marketing of a Hollywood star. An actor or actress can not only make movies successful, but in addition their images are also profitable. The Hollywood Star System has been very profitable for Hollywood and contributed to saving Hollywood in the late 1920s and 1930s when studios found it financially hard to survive. Once Hollywood realized their star s had financial power there was no stopping the lengths they would go to in order to sell their star s persona. The Hollywood Star System originated during the Studio System in which actors and actress were signed to long term contracts with the studios. Moreover, studios understood that the actor s public persona was profitable. Studios invested heavily in the actor s public image or persona that they wanted the public to perceive. Studios had contractual morality clauses that outlined an actor s behavior so as to not tarnish the image that the studio was promoting. Therefore, the star system was an economic boon to the studios and this style of contract system lasted from the 1920s to the early 1960s (Star, 2017). However, this left the actors feeling more like a commodity, than actual people or employees, which created a contentious relationship between the studios and the stars that represented them. This atmosphere often led to public power struggles , when actors challenged the studios in an attempt to have
  • 3. Celebrity Puppets Essay Celebrity Puppets The concept of using sports stars to market non sport items has soared to new heights. Every corporation in the world is trying to get the edge over their competitors. The classic example is that of the Cola Wars. During the 1980s, Pepsi and Coca Cola began an advertising slugfest, in which Pepsi emerged victorious by using Madonna and Michael Jackson as puppets in their commercials. These two companies, as well as thousands of others, have taken advantage of exposing celebrities in their commercials and advertisements. This is done as a means to persuade the public that these products are worth buying. As the years went by, marketers began to realize that in America, sports imagery constituted the most popular ... To make it look as though these celebrities are not being used, the companies pay them a small dividend as a thank you. In essence, the companies are controlling said celebrities. In the case of Mr. Owens, by dangling him in front of the public eye, the company holds him by the strings to make him do as they wish through a pay off. The last decade has seen the emergence of a new breed of celebrities onto the marketing scene. These celebrities are not involved in sports that society easily recognizes. Instead, they are the bowlers of the PBA Tour and the drivers of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. As late as the early 1990s bowling tournaments were named after their specific location and bowlers were viewed as just that, bowlers. Advancements in bowling ball technology created a more competitive field of bowlers and a new and younger generation of marketers has realized that these bowlers are a great source of advertising for their products. As a result, today s PBA bowlers wear patches with their sponsors on them. Some have even gone as far as placing their major sponsors logo on their spare balls. These sponsors include Odor Eaters, Pepsi, Miller High Life, Holiday Inn, and Baby Ruth, to name a few. NASCAR, the nation s fastest growing sport, has received sponsor money since its creation.

Kesey uses several symbolic references that lead the readers to believe that McMurphy symbolised Christ to the men in the hospital. These extracts examplify how McMurphy develops as a Christ figure. The novel depicts how the religious discourse positions and privileges the character. The poem, Advice to Young Ladies , crafted by A.D. Hope, does contain similar dominant discourse of conformity in Kesey s novel. Although it foregrounds a particular viewpoint similar to the one presented in Kesey s novel, the representations of religious and sexuality supports the conformity discourse. Postumia is not conformed to the Vestal Virgin as she is thought to talk too witty for her age. This can be demonstrated by: Too witty for a young girl, her eyes, her walk. Too lively, her clothes too smart to be demure. (Line 7 8) The poet positions readers to see Postumia s smartness as a threat for men and her life being torn from her. • 10. Characteristics Of A Hero In Beowulf It is hard to be a hero, just have to be selfless and put the needs or well being of others ahead of yourself own. Heroes also usually present themselves in times of need when nobody else does, which makes them stand out, because they are selfless and put other people ahead of themselves. Beowulf showed many signs of being a heroand also showed that he was selfless. A modern day hero that could be related to Beowulf who showed the same heroic traits is Martin Luther King JR. One quality that a hero must possess is that they need to be selfless. They need to be selfless because they need to put other people before themselves. Beowulf was a hero and this quote shows how he is selfless when he volunteered to go help out Hrothgar and protect everyone; Raffell writes, In his far off home Beowulf, Higlac s follower and the strongest of the Geats greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a boat fitted out, proclaiming that he d go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to Hrothgar, now when help was needed (23). The main thing that makes a hero is that they will go out of their way to help other people. Heroes need to present themselves in times of need and that is not something selfish people would usually do. They present themselves in times of need and sometimes even risk their lives to save other people. Someone cannot be selfish and be a hero because sure they could help people and do

The two primary classes of enzymes for maintaining life functions are digestive and metabolic enzymes. The primary digestive enzymes are classified as proteases, amylases and lipases. These enzymes can help breakdown food molecules. Metabolic enzymes are responsible for the repairing and structuring of every cell. Inadequate production of digestive enzymes can have a negative impact on the breakdown of food into the various nutrients our bodies require. The amount of small intestine damaged due to a loss of villi determines the severity of symptoms due to the diseases. Severe signs and symptoms of malabsorption are evident in people whose small intestine is affected by a loss of villi (Marks). Therefore this explains the various problems a person with celiac disease encounters. 1 Lactose intolerance occurs when the body has a hard time digesting dairy products. Lactose is a milk sugar and is broken down by enzymes in the intestinal track, allowing the enzymes to be used as an energy source. Lactase is an enzyme which breaks down lactose. Lactose intolerance occurs when the intestine does not contain lactase (Jackson). Low lactose activity in the small intestine, allows undigested lactose to pass into the colon, where the bacteria are able to convert the sugar into hydrogen gas and organic acids. This causes symptoms such as bloating and cramping ( Lactose Intolerance ). The two causes of lactose intolerance are primary lactase deficiency and secondary lactase deficiency. In primary lactase deficiency the level of lactase enzyme falls as a person gets older. This does not allow the person to tolerate the amount of lactose that they were used to. This affects around 70 percent of the population. Secondary lactase deficiency is a temporary condition in which the level of lactase drops due to a problem in a person s digestive

The Importance Of The Bill Of Rights James Madison wrote the 10 amendments, known as the Bill of Rights when several states requested protection of their individual liberties(BILL OF RIGHTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (1791). The Federalists argued that the Constitution didn t need the bill of rights because the people and states kept any powers that was not given to the federal government. However, the Anti Federalists felt the need to have the bill of rights for safeguarding individual liberty(BILL OF RIGHTS OF THE UNITED STATESOF AMERICA (1791). In 1789, when the Congress proposed the first ten amendments for their first session, they received three fourths by several States, so it became a part of the Constitution(1791: US Bill of Rights (1st 10 Amendments) with commentary). The Federalists supported a stable national government to preserve order, and 2/3 majority of the states must ratify for the Bill of Rights to be a part of the Constitution(Bill of Rights 1791). It went through several changes and The House approved 17 amendments, but the Senate only approved 12. Therefore, they were sent to the states for approval in August of 1789, and ten were quickly adopted (or, ratified). The Bill of Rights was officially passed on December 15, 1791, when Virginia ratified the amendments(Bill of Rights 1791). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The interference in Oxidative Phosphorylation is know as uncoupling . DNP causes protons to be pumped across the gradient interfering with the pathway of hydrogen in the final energy production. This completely interferes with the process of creating ATP because the leak of protons is increasing. When this happens, Potential energy is transformed into heat instead of ATP (Grundlingh et al. 2011). When the process of creating ATP fails, the body must compensate in other ways. To fulfill this, metabolism increases and speeds up to create energy needed. By doing this, fat and carbohydrates are broken down and being converted to energy. As this happens, more fat is being burned and more heat is being produced and causes weight loss due to the heat being more abundant (Cotton 2015). Throughout this uncoupled inference, Hypothermia is the result. Hypothermia is when the body is over heated and reaches an unsubstantial temperature. This is known as the failure of Thermoregulatory homeostasis. DNP is creating too much heat causing this reaction (Grundlingh et al.

  • 25. The Road Ahead Will Be Long Marvin powell Us history 6th 12/10/2014 Martin Luther king JR In words of Barrack Obama, The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. Obama provides a simple yet strong illustration of the hardships and obstacles faced when Striving for change. The statement made by Obama holds the same meaning when trying to Change communities that are like Irvington. Both Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama have a Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in African American Communities. For instance King stated, One hundred year later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. This quote shines an Illuminating light on the problems seen in Irvington, because we have allowed other Communities to surpass us. While we quarrel and argue amongst each other, we do not see that we are lagging behind the rest of New Jersey and The United States. This township is in critical condition, because the sense of unity, dreams, and change has been lost. To revive our fair township of Irvington we must recover from the phlegmatic state which we are so accustomed to and take action, or like a house with a weak foundation the town will soon crumble to the ground. To begin improving the living standards of Irvington the community, we must come together, scrutinize the community, and solve our basic problems. Then, this township can advance. In the words
  • 26. High School, Collegiate, And Professional Activities In my first essay, I took a deeply cynic position against competition. But, as discussed by Shields, maybe I have not seen true competition. Perhaps what I have viewed in high school, collegiate, and professional activities is actually decompetition (n.d.). Decompetition is like competition, but it primarily promotes the worst attributes in athletics, producing a negative outcome (Shields, n.d.). Regardless, over the course of this semester, my view of competition has been changed. I now hold a neutral view of competition. I do not believe that all competition is innately bad but not all is inherently good either. The gameof jacksplayed today was the most pivotal activity in the shift of my opinion. No one in my group had ever played the game. Instead of working individually, so one of us could triumph over the others, we worked together to find the best strategies and methods. Every time someone threw their handful of jacks to the floor, we analyzed them to find the best way to gather the jacks. We moaned when someone failed to gather their jacks in time and cheered when someone did the seemingly impossible. To us, the game was still fresh and new; we used each other s perspectives to figure it out. During our first game, for instance, Amanda received zero points, and I only won ten. But, by game two, Amanda and I, through trial and error and the feedback from the others, sharpened our skills to earn 51 and 40 points respectively. I was fairly happy with my success,

This statement from the Democratic parts is a very strong one and appeals to many Americans, it states We are committed to doing everything we can to build a full employment economy, where everyone has a job that pays enough to raise a family and live in dignity with a sense of purpose (Democrats). This is a very strong statement from the platform because they say that they want to see everyone succeeding and feeling that they have a purpose in their life. The Democrats have also stated that our economy should strengthen our country and work for every American, not just those at the top. We are committed to helping all Americans meet the challenges of the 21st century by spurring job creation, rebuilding our infrastructure, investing in clean energy technologies and small businesses, and making sure corporations, the wealthy, and Wall Street pay their fair share (Democrats). This statement shows how the Democrats want all people to be treated in a fair manner. The Democrats also believe that people of wealth and big businesses should have to pay more in things like taxes, because they have a lot more money. Democrats want to cut taxes for the American people and help people get jobs that are not able to. America is still struggling to come out of the economic free fall of 2008, which caused jobs and stocks to go down. Democrats believe that they have solved this issue by
