Write A Narrative Essay About Moving Again
Noooooooo I screamed dropping to the floor. My parents stopped in their tracks and stared at me, their
faces confused. Why do we have to move, I just had the best day ever at school. You wouldn t even
believe what happended. I ran up to my mom and dad and asked them why we had to move again.
Well... he replied starting out slowly, The grape season is over and we have to go find a place to make
some money for our family to live. You want ths family to stay healthy right, Panchtio? I sighed sadly
Fine. then I walked away, tears almost dropping down my face as I sat down on a box. I didn t like this
idea at all, but I had to do anything to help my family survive with a good place to live and a job. We
packed the car that afternoon and everybody started to get settled inside the Carcanchita. My little

and thanking god for this award. About five minutes later the news people came and many other
people from all around the place just to see me. They were asking me a bunch of questions that I didn
t know how to answer to, when suddenly a guy in a nice suit holding a check walked in. Are you the
kid that just won the powerball? he asked me Yes I said then without saying anything else he gave me
this huge check that had so many 0 s on it I couldn t even count. This was the best thing that has ever

The Ebola Virus
The Ebola Virus
A virus is an ultramicroscopic infectious organism that, having no independent metabolic activity, can
replicate only within a cell of another host organism. A virus consists of a core of nucleic acid, either
RNA or DNA, surrounded by a coating of antigenic protein and sometimes a lipid layer surrounds it as
well. The virus provides the genetic code for replication, and the host cell provides the necessary
energy and raw materials. There are more than 200 viruses that are know to cause disease in humans.
The Ebola virus, which dates back to 1976, has four strains each from a different geographic area, but
all give their victims the same painful, often lethal symptoms. The Ebola virus is a member of a

Close contact and dirty needles spread the Ebola virus. The center of the epidemic in Zaire involved a
missionary hospital where they reused needles and syringes without sterilization. Most of the staff of
the hospital got sick and died. This outbreak infected 318 with a death rate of 93% (Le
Guenno et al. 1271). Another fatal case was reported one year later in Zaire but nothing major ever
became of it. The most recent case recorded was the infamous breakout in Kikwit, Zaire. This
breakout had the world in an uproar about the possibility of this virus spreading out globally. This
outbreak appeared to have started with a patient who had surgery in Kikwit on April 10,
1995. Members of the surgical team then developed symptoms similar to those of a viral hemorrhagic
fever disease (Ebola Info. from the CDC 2). From there, the disease spread to more than 300 others.
The most frequent symptoms at the onset were fever (94%), diarrhea (80%), and server weakness
(74%); other symptoms included dysphagia (41%) and hiccups (15%). Clinical signs of bleeding
occurred in 38% of cases (JAMA 274: 373). The World Heath Organization declared on
August 24, 1995 that the outbreak of Ebola Zaire in Kikwit was officially over after killing 244 of its
315 known victims ( Ebola Outbreak Officially Over 1).
This outbreak had a rate of death over 75%. Ebola Sudan also occurred in 1976 about the same time as
Ebola Zaire.
The number of cases was 284 with a death rate of 53% (Le

Complication of Amputation and Edema
Title Here Amputation is the general term describing a condition of disability resulting from the
deliberate surgical removal of a part of the body, a limb, or part of a limb (Bowker Michael, 1992).
Limb loss can be a congenital condition, the result of traumatic injury, or a surgical procedure to treat
disease (Clawson, 2009). Clawson posits that the majority of amputations in the United States are the
result of vascular disease caused by diabetes (p. 393). In cases of traumatic amputation, adjustment
and adaptation is more difficult than for people who have had time to prepare, such as may occur with
diabetes. Amputations may be performed at any level in the upper extremities such as the digits, the
hand, or the arm, or in the lower extremities such as the toes, the foot, or the leg. Appropriate
rehabilitation is a vital element to helping people with lower limb amputation learn to walk and
function again and live high quality lives (Hanley et al., 2004).
Literature Review
In the United States, the majority of amputations are performed in order to treat complications of
peripheral vascular disease; the greater numbers involve the lower limbs (Clawson, 2009). According
to Bowker and Michael (1992), disease is the most frequent reason for amputation in adults age 50 or
older, while trauma is the usual cause of amputation in younger individuals. Marshall and Stansby
(2008) include malignant tumor, uncontrollable acute or chronic infection, congenital deformity,

Importance Of Parental Discipline In Children
As a child, I would ask myself why was I getting spanked on my butt, but as I got older, the spankings
came less. The spankings were a way my mom would discipline me when I wouldn t do as I was told.
This is called parental discipline. Parental discipline is a form of punishment given to children when
they are being disobedient. Parental discipline branches out into various forms: physical, verbal, and
minimization of certain gadgets etc. Many people believe parental discipline should be banned
completely, but those people only focus on the abusive aspects of some forms of parental discipline.
When parents appropriately and reasonably discipline their children, studies have shown, positive
features come from it. Even though many parents do not recognize the difference between
unreasonable discipline and appropriate parental discipline, parents have the right to discipline their
children. Although many people see parental discipline as unnecessary, when parental discipline is
practiced within a household, it shapes better morals, teaches children about expectations, and
provides guidelines and principles for success in life. One positive outcome of parental discipline is
the child s development of better morals. Parental discipline is given when the child is acting up. One
reason children misbehave is because they pick up on what they see around them. But what the
children are picking up are not the best morals a child should have, causing the child to act up. That

The Issue Of Political Participation
Political participation is a right afforded to United States citizens; it is our civic duty to participate and
is ultimately a privilege. The founders believed that it was the newly founded government s
responsibility to protect the basic rights of the people. With those beliefs they made the United States
of America, a two tiered, three branch democracy and therefore the people hold the power to freely
elect who they want to represent them in government. The local representatives, we elect push for
laws of interest to the majority and provide them with the resources that they need. The president
implements and enforces laws that Congress passes. With such social ramifications and power granted
to government representatives it would seem as though nearly everyone should be invested in political
matters and actively engaged in political participation. Among the easiest ways to get involved
politically is through the voting process and elections, others are symbolic participation, civil society
participation, protesting, marching, contacting public officials, being part of election campaigns and
even running for office. While voting is among the easiest ways to be a part of this democracy, the
turnout is low. The right to vote has opened up to a larger number of people through legislation, but
still the turnout rate is low. There are factors that show a correlation in the chance of whether or not
one will vote, and are very telling in some instances. Voting in the United

as a peaceful religious group who participated in protests to oppose Westernization, and Christianity.
The religion that fueled their fire at the time, and now is Islam. As their situation evolved, so did their

Another interesting topic when discussing human rights abuses and terrorist
organizations is the United Nations Security Council. The U.N. is an organization determined to keep
peace throughout the world using the conjoined help of many nations. The U.N. is comprised of one
main decision making group called the security council, which is positioned by world powers. As the
security council has repeatedly condemned Boko Haram, no action from the security council has been
decided. They have recommended that regional military combine to further strategize, and those in
charge of economics use a more aggressive strategy to combat theft, and build up Nigeria. Boko
Haram
has such an impact that it destroys the economy, and ultimately prevents further advances.

Shippoku Dining
During the Tokugawa period, Japan was mainly a closed off country as it wanted little to do with
being influenced by the outside world, and particularly, by the West. Japan was willing to dabble with
outside influences on what was becoming a national cuisine, but refused to give up it s national
identity. Introducing foreign aspects to Japanese cuisine was acceptable as long as Japan maintained
power and control over how these aspects would manifest. In Tokugawa period Nagasaki was a
regional site that attracted many Chinese settlers. Influenced by these Chinese settlers, an eating trend
called shippoku became popular. Shippoku dining was based on the imitation of Chinese cultural

Shippoku dining included not only imitation of Chinese style dishes, but also the imitation of Chinese
dining culture. Dishes were communal, which was not common for Japanese cuisine of the time, and
forced shippoku dining to be quite a social experience. Dishes and utensils used for shippoku were
supposed to look Chinese and have Chinese decorations, but the main distinction between the dishes
and utensils used for shippoku from everyday dishes and utensils were what shippoku diners called
them, which shows just how hard they were trying to imitate Chinese dining culture an ordinary bowl
could turn into a shippoku bowl if you called it the right thing; everything about shippoku dining was
supposed to sound Chinese in both names and pronunciation. This imitation, however, was explicitly
an imitation, which is evident from how hard they tried to look Chinese. There was less emphasis on
authenticity and modestly taking inspiration from Chinese culture, rather they were blatantly imitating
the culture as something that was other. This attitude shows that

Child Care Center Observation Essay
I chose to observe at Foster Knox Child Care Center in Warrensburg, Missouri to finish up my
observation hours. When viewing this facility, it was similar to Central Village by having different age
groups separated by rooms. When I first walked into the facility I didn t notice any labeling on the
doors, to identify which age group took place in that room. However, I could easily tell by looking at
the children who were in the room. To finish my observations all I needed was the age group 24 36
months. This age group I was observing was located in the back of the facility. As I entered the room,
I noticed it was empty, no children to be found. I then realize that it was nap time. All children were in
a separate room enclosed by a door that was connected to the room I entered in. When walking in I
noticed two tables were in the center of the room. A tiny restroom area was in the far left hand corner
of the room which had a sink, water fountain, and a small toilet for the children to use frequently after
every activity. There is a play area as well which was located right when you walk into the room. The
room was bright, and had a lot of natural light coming in from the windows. Each child had their own

Ethics in Nursing: Regarding the Importance of Patient Priority
Carlie Cupp

Ethics in Nursing: Regarding the Importance of Patient Priority In order to create a morally and
ethically sound practice and health care environment for every patient, the nurse s decision making
role is vital and should be treated as such. The nurse s professional morals and ethics should always be
patient oriented to consistently assure the best decisions are being made to support each and every
individual appropriately. These morals and ethics should consist of, the willingness to take action on
behalf of patient needs and interests, the ability to advocate for the patients care even if that means

Other errors like this will continue to happen in situations of wrongful ethically based decision making
if the error process is not ceased. Once again, for a nurse to be able to weigh the outside forces that
influence decisions and ethically measure their value patient priority must be applied. In expansion of
patient priority, a nurse should practice this idea by specifically practicing good communication skills
to everyone involved in the patients care at all times. This includes effectively communicating with
the patient, the patient s family, other nurses, and the physician in charge of their care. By doing so,
one is best performing patient advocacy and avoiding error. Also, the nurse should be aware of the
care team s actions and how they affect the patient and be willing to speak up when a mistake may be
occurring. Such as, if a doctor writes a wrong prescription or if a nurse doesn t correctly assess vitals,
it is important for that nurse to appropriately advise her team members of their actions when it
involves the patient. While evaluating personal beliefs and values, one must understand how this is
incorporated into ethics of nursing. According to Mendes (2015), Ethical dilemmas are not uncommon
in health care. Awareness of personal beliefs, how they affect work situations and how they may
potentially affect the way a nurse views a patient, or the patient s condition and care, is

A joint venture with Sony allows a large R amp;D division focusing on mobile, which is vital to
ensure its network business stays in touch with consumer demands. Sony has a strong reputation on
the domain of digital and audio technology. However, Sony was a marginal player in the handset
industry with 2% of market share. Previous attempts to enter the US and European markets both failed
due to poor knowledge on mobile technology. Sony was too slow to move away from its traditional
businesses such as music stereos, televisions, VCR and DVD, hence a partner who could provide
expertise knowledge was needed. Joint ventures have further benefits. Joint ventures are based on
sharing individual ability and resources for the purpose of achieving a mutually beneficial objective.
Sony gains access to Ericsson s market share and their network of infrastructure and handset

Sun Tzu Theory In The Horn Of Africa
Sun Tzu s Theory in the Horn of Africa s Security Challenge
Introduction
The greater Horn of Africa (HoA) is the sub region of the Eastern part of Africa that composed of
Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda. Threats to peace and
security are interconnected and comprised various human insecurities that emanate from both
intrastate and interstate conflict, and transnational security threats such as terrorism. This is because
political, social, and security problems in the region further threaten development efforts and
complicate interventions to alleviate, the various related challenges of the region. Mainly, Terrorism
has been a source of serious security challenge to the Horn of Africa peace and development process.
As terrorism is the main security challenge of the Horn of Africa region, Sun Tzu s theory is relevant
in the war with terrorist organizations operated in the greater Horn of Africa. For these countries could
helpful in curbing the terrorist threat, if they examine Sun Tzu s theory offensive strategy according to
the existing context of the terrorist threat. The offensive strategy first should focus on attacking the
terrorist s strategy, and then their allies because the main strength of the terrorist is the strategy they
follow. Giving priority on attacking the terrorist s strategy would eliminate fertile ground for terrorist
organizations motive. Therefore, this paper will evaluate, and analyze Sun Tzu s theory such

However, with the highs, there are some lows as most people will be concerned with his turnovers
because of his 14 interceptions and losing eight fumbles. In comparison, Winston did the worst during
his last season with the Seminoles as among the 39 FBS quarterbacks that passed over 3,000 yards and
still managed to take the team to the playoffs. As a quarterback, Winston counted on his teammates
like returning running back Dalvin Cook to assist in making great plays and wins for the football team
all the way to the playoffs. The football season begins with the ranked team playing their first game at
home since 2012, and it is against an unranked opponent. As the team has a winning streak of 14
starting home games since 2009, hopefully, this game will add another home game win for the Noles

How Did Race And Alliances Cause Ww1
WWI was a devastating war with losses to all countries involved. It started in 1914. There are many
causes that started the war, but they were all dealing with power and money ultimately. The Great
powers started fighting and it all started from there. The main causes of WWI were Race and alliances
, Armaments, and Most importantly Imperialism. Race and alliances had a big part to do in the cause
of the war. The triple alliance, which was Germany Hungary Austria and Italy, were surrounded by
bigger countries and other alliances and that was a problem. Germany would be in big trouble and
they were worried because they feared they would have to fight a two front war. In 1915 Italy would
switch sides which hurt Germany and Austria Hungary because they lost an ally and they already had
the millions of Russians with pitchforks to deal with. Russia had a special ethnic group with Serbia
because they both had the Slavic race in there countries. When Austria Hungary declared war against
Serbia this seems like it could cause a major problem. If Serbia had Slavic population and Russia had
slavic population then Russia would probably help Serbia in the war which in turn would lead to the
United kingdom helping Russia and then Germany would help Austria Hungary as well as Italy, ...

two countries both had bombs that could destroy half of each others countries then both of them would
be scared to fight in the first place. WWI just happened to be different countries got jealous of each

William Shakespeare Essay
William Shakespeare
Ask anyone who Shakespeare was, and he or she will immediately rattle off at least three different
plays that were required readings in English, not to mention a few blockbuster movies bearing his
name. Many revere the works of Shakespeare as paramount in the world of literature, dedicating entire
books, classes and festivals to the study and celebration of his work. Although the ancient language is
a common stumbling block for even the most seasoned readers, his varied tales of love, hate, fear,
betrayal, laughter, defeat and victory are just as fitting today as they were four hundred years ago. He
is amazingly timeless. Yet, while we might know what Shakespeare is, will we ever really know who
Shakespeare was? Ah, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sadly, Hamnet died in August of 1596, and from that point forward we have no more information
regarding his family until 1616, the year of his death. There are enough legal documents and theatre
records, though, to know that Shakespeare goes on to possess a generous amount of real estate, hold
shares in an acting company that built the Globe Theatre, and become a principal player in the acting
group The Kings Men (A Midsummer Night s Dream xxx xxxi). There are many theories and stories
floating around that seem to fill in the gaping holes in his timeline, but since this information doesn t
appear in a register or on a playbill, we don t know what is fact or fiction.
On January 25th, 1616, Shakespeare signs his will in three places leaving the majority of his estate to
his eldest daughter, Susanna, and his second best bed to his wife (All Shakespeare). He died three
months later on April 23rd, and was buried in Stratford, yet his name does not appear on the stone

Research Paper On Football Stadiums
Olatunde Fadahunsi WWSD 350 Position Paper 1 Public spending on the creation of football stadiums
often is something we do not place much consideration or focus on. It is interesting to see that these
sports teams are successful business yet they are still utilizing taxpayer funds to grow and expand in
unnecessary ways. It was stated that 29 of the 32 NFL stadiums have enjoyed billions of dollars in
public funding. We are, too often, attracted and incited by the sold benefits of providing funding for
the growth/expansion of these sport arenas. The argument by these officials is that these new facilities

During the years of 2007 2009, the U.S was experiencing a recession, which may be explanation as to
why unemployment rates went up and the economic status of the cities also declined. This could
potentially create faulty/misleading data. I am unsure the purpose of finding information about the
economic status as well as the unemployment rates of these cities because it may simply be a
reflection of the unemployment rates as well as the economic status of the country. The true issue I
found within the course of my research is the fact that these different stadiums are now competing
with one another truly leads to a higher cost for us. In a sense, there is an essence of inequality simply
because the players and owners are the ones that receive the profits earned from the stadiums. With
limited knowledge of the NFL or even puplic policy, I was required to do an extensive research to
truly understand the scope of the issue at hand. The true relevance of these publically funded stadiums
to the NFL is the fact that there is a huge reliance on regular ticket sales to generate revenue. The
reality is that these individual sports teams do not generate much economic business. It has been
shown that an average sports team in 1994 only makes about 64 million dollars. Although jobs are
being generated, they are often jobs that require very low skill, which could equate to a very low

The Scientific Revolution And Religion
The Scientific Revolution was not intended to be a war on religion and tradition even though it was
interpreted as such. The Scientific Revolution, which lasted roughly from 1543 to 1642, was arguably
the greatest development in the European intellectual history (Kreis, 2012). It was a revolution in the
way people perceived the world. During this era, scientific revolutionaries like Nicholas Copernicus,
the Polish astronomer (1473 1543); Descartes, the French philosopher (1596 1650) and Isaac Newton
the British mathematician (1642 1727) tried to better understand man and the physical world thereby
overturning the authorities of the Church and the scientists and philosophers who preceded them,
including Ptolemy, Galen and Aristotle. It was mainly the Copernican theory that caused many to
perceive the Scientific Revolution as a war on tradition. As far as understanding the universe was
concerned, the medieval world depended on the work of Claudius Ptolemy (c. 90 168), the ... Show

Bellarmine, had authored his well known Letter to Foscarini in which he conveyed his displeasure
with the heliocentric idea. Before his death in 1543, Copernicus had written his treatise titled On the
Revolutions of the Heavenly Bodies. In it, he pleaded with mathematicians to teach his theory. He

The Effect Of Gibberellic Acid On The Germination Of Seeds
The Effect of Gibberellic Acid on the Germination of Seeds Authors Bijin Johnson, Veronica Razon,
Harmony Juanta, Charlee Parr and Cathleen Castro. Introduction In this practical, six bags containing
twelve histrix cactus seeds each were taken and another six bags containing twelve rocket salad seeds
in each bag. Each bag was experimented with different concentrations of gibberellic acid to see how
fast each would grow. Gibberellic Acid is an organic molecule whose chemical formula is C₁₉H₂₂O₆.
This chemical was found as a by product of the fungus Gibberella fujikuroi (John M Riley, 1997).
This acid was developed later and now, synthetic versions of it are available commercially. This
Hormone is responsible for growth and development in the plant. Therefore, small concentrations of
this plant can help a plant grow faster but too large concentrations can have the opposite effect
(Triplantanol, 2011). This chemical comes in the form of a yellowish powder that is dissolved in water
and given to the plant (Wikipedia, 2015). Variables Independent Variable: The amount of Gibberellic
Acid in each bag. Dependent Variable: The number of seeds germinated each day. Variables Held
Constant: The length of time the bags were observed, number of trials done for each concentration and
temperature and the amount of heat and light the plants were exposed to. Hypothesis If the
concentration of Gibberellic Acid increase, the number of seeds germinated per day will increase.

Child Soldiers in Sierra Leone
Africa in Cinema Final Paper Professor Rice May 2010 Child Soldiers in Sierra Leone This semester,
the topic of Child Soldiers presented a very interesting dilemma that several countries in Africa
continue to face today. Sierra Leone, in particular, has struck an interest because of the many films and
readings that try to depict this story of the civil war. In class, we have viewed two films representing
the problems with child soldiers in Sierra Leone which include films titled Blood Diamond and Ezra.
Both films represent opposite sides of the spectrum, as Blood Diamond shows the Western view of
child soldiers and Ezra represents the first African view of child soldiers. Before discussing the two

Their minds are controlled by the RUF and if they did not comply with the orders of the organization
they were immediately killed. This type of life is so unimaginable but still continues as we speak. In
Blood Diamond, the western view of this miserable story of Sierra Leone is depicted. Having viewed
the film several times I now understand the real reason behind the film. Because it is in a western,
Hollywood view, the film can only keep the attention of the viewers if there is some kind of white
influence. With that said, even though the story of child soldiers is what is meant to be depicted, the
love story between a South African Journalist and an American diamond smuggler is what is
represented instead. Instead of focusing on the true matter at hand, Hollywood insists on using the
talents of Leonardo Di Caprio to misrepresent the issues over diamonds in Sierra Leone. In the film, it
is misleading to see how savage like the children of Sierra Leone are made out to be. The story almost
seemed too good to be true in the film and to anyone who does not know much about the situation in
Sierra Leone it may have been a great film. In my opinion it was a very sad excuse for a film and the
film in every way used the situation in Sierra Leone as an advantage to the boost of some of
Hollywood s best actors careers. The other film viewed in class entitled Ezra depicted the story of
child soldiers from an

Napoleon s Influence On The French Revolution
Napoleon had many impacts on the French Revolution between 1797 and 1815, due to his

revolutionised military organization and training, sponsored Napoleonic Code, reorganised education
and established the long lived Concordat with the papacy. He died on May 5, 1821, on the island of St.

He did this to raise funds towards his military campaigns. During these years, Napoleon reestablished
a French aristocracy, that was eliminated during the French revolution, and began handing out titles of
nobility to his loyal friends and family as his empire continued to expand across much of western and
central continental Europe. He did this so he didn t have to manage all of his armies/colonies at once,
and could therefore manage his main army on all of his conquests. As far as political and civil liberties
were concerned, Napoleon largely suppressed them with strict censorship and the establishment of a
virtual police state in order to protect his power. However, Napoleon saw equality as a politically
useful concept that he could maintain with little threat to his position. After all, everyone, at least all
men, were equally under his power. One of his main accomplishments as a ruler was the establishment
of the Napoleonic Civil Law Codes, which made all men equal under the law while maintaining their
legal power over women. Therefore, any hopes women may have had of the Revolution improving
their legal position were thwarted by Napoleon. Napoleon saw nationalism as crucial to maintaining
the loyalty of the French people to his regime. After all, it was the spirit of nationalism that had
inspired its armies in a remarkable series of victories that had especially benefited Napoleon and

Female Fibroids Research Paper
Uterine fibroids are very common, causing symptoms in about 25 percent of women. Fibroids are
benign, or noncancerous, tumors that grow in the walls of the uterus. It s not understood why fibroids
develop, but scientists and doctors believe that genetics may play a role.
There are several factors that put women at a greater risk for developing fibroids. These factors
include:
Age: Most women who get fibroids are between the ages 18 and 45. In African Americans, fibroids
are often found at an earlier age. After menopause, fibroids typically shrink.
Nulliparity: Women who have never been pregnant, or haven t carried a pregnancy past 20 weeks, are
at a higher risk of developing the growths.
Family History: Women with family members that have had fibroids are at an increased likelihood of
developing them. Some research shows that if a woman s mother had fibroids, she is three times as
likely to develop them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weight: Women who are overweight are at a high risk for developing the growths. For very obese
women, the likelihood of fibroids is two to three times greater.
Just because a risk factor is present, doesn t mean that a woman will develop fibroids. Most women
who are diagnosed with fibroids, however, do have one of the following 10 symptoms.
1. Heavy Vaginal Bleeding
Women with fibroids may have very heavy bleeding during their menstrual periods or may bleed in
between cycles. This bleeding can be heavy enough to cause anemia in some women.
2. Infertility
Fibroids are one of the leading causes of infertility. This is because fibroids can cause an obstruction
in the fallopian tubes, which prevents the fertilized egg from descending into the uterus and
implanting.

such as free verse, cacophony, or ballads. The poems we studied in class were lyric, rhyme verse, and
a couplet. These poems were by E. E. Cummings, Emily Dickinson, and Langston Hughes. Although
each piece of literacy was different, they all had an upbeat rhythm; each poem was congenial. My
favorite poem to read was maggie and milly and molly and may by E. E. Cummings, the couplet style
poem. The poem goes against all rules in the writing world; Cummings uses broken syntax, self

The world s biggest ship was only five days into her maiden voyage from Southampton to
New York when the disastrous catastrophe took place. From the 2200 passengers, only 600 of them

It was horrible! said a member of the Caparthia s crew.
There were children drowning and mothers crying for help.
As of today, the investigations are still ongoing, nevertheless, experts believe that many safety
precautions hadn´t been taken properly. One of the more serious safety problems was the lack of
lifeboats on board. The way the ship was designed did not allow enough space for the amount of
lifeboats that would have been required to save every single passenger.
As a result, the first class passengers were granted a seat in a lifeboat primarily. A lot of the third and
second class passengers, however, didn t even survive their way out of their cabins.
One of the few second class survivors was Mary Donahugh: I thought I was going to die.
The water in the cabins rose higher and higher and it felt like millions of tiny needles piercing through
my skin. She lost her husband and her two children that night.
The sinking of Titanic will always be one of the biggest disasters on sea the world has ever seen.

Fatty Acid Composition Of Adipose Tissue And Colorectal...
Fatty acid composition of adipose tissue and colorectal cancer: a case control study
Colorectal cancer is considered as the third most common cancers worldwide that usually leads to the
death of the patient. Studies have proved that lifestyle factors great influence the development and
spread of cancer. Modifying the lifestyle can reduce the risk of getting colorectal cancer by 70%. It is
noted that more consumption of red and processed meat increase the risk of developing colorectal
cancer. However, high intake of dietary fibers decreases it. On the contrary epidemiologic studies that
connect the fat intake with colorectal cancer are varying and unreliable. The concentrations of fatty
acids in human serum and in the membranes of red blood cells depict the intake of previous days or
weeks. Conversely, the fatty acid concentration in the adipose tissue truly show the habitual dietary
intake in the previous two to three years. Hence, various studies that aim to explore the correlation
between the concentration of fatty acids and cancer risk use adipose tissue in this request.
The case study discussed in this paper is conducted in Five University hospitals located in
Northeastern France (Cottet and others 2015). Subcutaneous adipose tissue samples were acquired
from the surgery departments through surgeons. The samples belonged to the patients who were
admitted for elective abdominal surgery. These patients were recently diagnosed of primary colorectal
cancer.

Compare And Contrast Greek And Persian Empires
The Greece and Persian Empires There were four great multicultural Empires in our world s history
Ancient Greece, The Roman Empire, Persia and China. I am going to focus on Ancient Greece and the
Persian Empire, what geographical features did each region offer to help the people build these great
empires, what were some of the cultures of this empires, and what changes did they have over time?
Going further into details on the Persian Empire, who were two of the leaders and what contributions
did they make to Persia, what methods did they use to expand the region and gain power? How did the
political system change over time?
Ancient Greece is found to be on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, due to its location it was
possible to trade with other parts of the area and not depend solely on crops grown in the area. The
region of the Mediterranean where Greece is found is on the coast of the Aegean Sea it contains
rugged mountains, and valleys. Being on the coast made the use of ships necessary this also put the
people of Greece at risk for land attacks from armies bigger than the Greek armies. Also the region
was at risk for volcanos, large ocean storms, and catastrophic earthquakes that could destroy cities
without notice. In Persia there were two groups of people who settled the in the region who left a
major impact on the area s history the Medes and the Persians. The Medes were found in the Zagros

Corporate Influence And Political Corruption
In today s society many Americans believe that there is corruption within politics. According to
Jeffrey Milyo author of Corporate Influence and Political Corruption, a nationally representative
opinion survey done in 2008 states that, a little more than 50 percent of respondents agreed that
corruption in the federal government is widespread and an extremely serious concern, while fewer
than five percent considered corruption in the federal government to be rare or not a concern
(Konisky, Milyo, and Richardson, 2008). This leads many Americans to believe that politics is an
inherently corrupt activity (Milyo, 2014). This of option of course can be looked at from many
different perspectives. With many major corporations contributing to political campaigns; it is
assumed that these politicians are being bought to further benefit the corporation s agenda. Therefore,
the perspective of Ethical Egoism; contributing to these campaigns is deemed justified since it would
further benefit the company. A politician who invokes an ethical egoism view would believe that their
actions of accepting contributions from a major cooperation would be justified since it helps them
achieve their goal of entering their chosen political position. Since the politician is achieving what
they wish then to them, their actions are justified.
If you follow the logic of utilitarianism, one would argue that contributing to campaigns to benefits
the company and its employees and that insures that

This was also compounded with a sense of isolationism that most Americans had during this time that

expensive that most Americans would not/could not buy them. This in turn hurt the other economies

In itself this was a terrible event, but from which recovery was possible. The problem was there were
too many other variables that were working against the US at the same time (the ones I listed above).
When all of these events happened the US tried to call in loans from around the world but it was too
late. The economic crisis had become one that was no longer bound to the confines of the US.
The way the Great Depression ended is not as easy to pinpoint. The New Deal established by Franklin
Roosevelt was instrumental in returning a sense of security to the citizens of the US. Bank Holidays
gave the American people time to cool off and calm themselves about the turbulent banking crisis.
This helped to stop bank runs which had shut down many banks.
Implementation of the many programs of the New Deal also helped the economy. The FDIC
(Insurance on bank deposits), the CCC (Jobs for young unemployed men to work on national parks),
the SSA (social security for disabled and elderly), TVA (provided jobs, water and electricity to
underprivileged Southern areas) and several other programs gave hope to the American people. There
was still much that needed to be done and Roosevelt had many

In his criminal trial Courtney was sentenced to thirty years in prison and was ordered to pay $10.4
million in restitution and a $25,000 fine. (Freed, 2002)
Robert Courtney was raised in church by a father that worked as a minister. He was well liked and
respected while growing up and his father described him as an ideal son. (Montgomery amp; Stearns,
2001) After graduation from pharmacy school, Mr. Courtney went to work for James Frederich, who
owned and operated Research Medical Tower Pharmacy until he sold it to Mr. Courtney in 1986.
(Draper, 2003)
Over the years Robert Courtney began spending money and living an extravagant lifestyle. He insisted
on having the best cars, a large house and divorced his first wife. He immediately began to court a
young girl he knew when he was younger and after a short time convinced her to marry him. His
second wife immediately wanted out of the marriage because of his controlling nature and demands
that he placed on her as his wife. Courtney s second marriage ended in an annulment, but two years
later he married again. He had five children over the course of the three marriages. (Draper, 2003)

The Role Of Parenthood In Jodi Picoult s Nineteen Minutes
In nineteen minutes, you can mow the front lawn, color your hair, watch a third of a hockey game.
You can bake scones or get a tooth filled by a dentist.... Or, as Peter Houghton knows... in nineteen
minutes, you can bring the whole world to a screeching halt (Picoult 363). In Nineteen Minutes by
Jodi Picoult, Peter had been bullied his whole life, and he wanted revenge. Peter felt the only way to
get revenge was to pull the trigger towards classmates and teachers.
Nineteen Minutes takes place in a small town known as Sterling. In Sterling, everybody knows
everybody. You stop at an intersection, and you know the person stopped next to you. You see your
neighbors at the grocery store, and your teacher at Olive Garden. So obviously, everyone in the small
town knew Peter and his family. Could you imagine the looks Peter s parents receive from the ... Show

They can t imagine their son doing something so terrible. They feel out of place when they get their
groceries now, like every eye is on them. Lacy and Lewis think they have completely failed at
parenthood, and it is secretly eating both of them up internally.
Conflict was created between Peter and his parents. Peter did not meet the standards his deceased
brother held. Peter s parents were disappointed in the difference between sons. To adulterate Peter s
situation, he was constantly bullied by classmates in and out of school. One day Peter could not handle
it anymore, and the last string of the braided rope broke.
The conflict Peter was struggling with himself was impossible to conquer without support from others,
and Peter never truly had the support he needed to thrive. Peter was suffering from post traumatic
stress disorder as a result of chronic victimization. Peter had a foggy ending, which made it seem like
the bullying would never stop, so he figured he was the one who had to stop

All in the Family
All in the Family
In 1971, New York Times columnist Fred Ferretti wrote an article about a new television series called
All in the Family. Ferretti asked, whether or not if racism and bigotry were considered funny and he
concluded that it was not and as a result believed that the show was lacking good taste. Apparently, the
television viewers of America disagreed. Running from 1971 to 1979, All In The Family wasn t the
first television series to tackle major issues on a major network, but what was innovative about the
series, was that is that it hewed its situational comedy from topical issues, and it explored them
through characters we got to know and cared about every week. Simply put, All in the Family wasn t
just a great situational comedy; it as was an ongoing national conversation rooted in well written, well
acted and multifaceted characters.
In 1969, a young comedy writer named Norman Lear was given approval by CBS to create an
American version of the popular British sitcom Till Death Do Us Part. Produced and developed by
Lear, this concept of a sitcom about a blue collar family would eventually become, All in the Family.
Premiering in January of 1971, the series focused on the lives of a working class family from the New
York City borough of Queens, The Bunkers. Archie and his dingbat wife, Edith as well as their
daughter and little goil Gloria and her liberal husband Mike Meathead Stivic. Although, the storylines
of each episode were typically full of

Theme Of Disease In Oryx And Crake
Disease: an unnaturally natural cure Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood is a post apocalyptic novel
set in an undetermined future narrated by, Snowman, who seems to be the last true human on earth.
Although the book reads as if it is telling a futuristic tale, in reality many of the scientific and cultural
trends are drawn from our own, current society. One theme of the novel, disease, has parallel
similarities to our society and world today. Disease is woven into all aspects of life, just as it was used
in Oryx and Crake as a capitalistic weapon, a weapon of mass destruction, and it was used as a cure.
Firstly, the theme of disease in this novel has an overwhelming existence, it is strongly linked into
other themes and creates a foundation for how the novel unravels. As with our society, big
pharmaceutical companies have control over life and death. We often perceive them as greedy, fear
mongering scientists. Crake, the borderline mad scientist at RejoovenEssence, even accuses
pharmaceutical companies of inventing diseases and cures simultaneously in order to maintain a high
demand for their services, So, you d need more sick people. Or else and it might be the same thing
more diseases. New and different ones. Right? Stands to reason, said Jimmy after a moment. It did,
too. But don t they keep discovering new diseases? Not discovering, said Crake. They re creating
them. (Atwood 211) The use of disease and the desire to be cured is nothing more than a

Privatization Of Social Security System
Established by the federal government in 1935, the social security system is currently one of the most
costly items in the federal budget. The purpose of the system is to provide for Federal old age benefits,
and to enable social insurance and public assistance. The proposal of moving to an entirely new
system would give the people living in the United States their own individual authority of controlling
their own investments. If social security does not become privatized; the system itself will turn
unsustainable, the retired and disabled will not fully receive their earnings; and the people of the
United States will continue to have no control over their investments. Many politicians have utilized
the privatization of social security as a political platform. For example, former President George W.
Bush has had 47% of Republicans that has voted in support to privatize the system. Presently, the
payments received from the Social Security system grants monetary payments to the millions of
Americans that are either retired or the family members of the retired and disabled for deceased
workers. The federal government is held responsible for collecting these payments. Back in 1935, the
social security system was formerly known as the Old Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI). During
this time, it only took seventeen contributions from workers to pay one retiree. In comparison to now,
a quarter of the employed U.S households that has contributed into the Social security funding

A virus consists of a core of nucleic acid, either RNA or DNA, surrounded by a coating of antigenic protein and sometimes a lipid layer surrounds it as well. The virus provides the genetic code for replication, and the host cell provides the necessary energy and raw materials. There are more than 200 viruses that are know to cause disease in humans. The Ebola virus, which dates back to 1976, has four strains each from a different geographic area, but all give their victims the same painful, often lethal symptoms. This outbreak infected 318 with a death rate of 93% (Le Guenno et al. 1271). Another fatal case was reported one year later in Zaire but nothing major ever became of it. The most recent case recorded was the infamous breakout in Kikwit, Zaire. This breakout had the world in an uproar about the possibility of this virus spreading out globally. This outbreak appeared to have started with a patient who had surgery in Kikwit on April 10, 1995. Members of the surgical team then developed symptoms similar to those of a viral hemorrhagic fever disease (Ebola Info. from the CDC 2). From there, the disease spread to more than 300 others. The most frequent symptoms at the onset were fever (94%), diarrhea (80%), and server weakness (74%); other symptoms included dysphagia (41%) and hiccups (15%). Clinical signs of bleeding occurred in 38% of cases (JAMA 274: 373). The World Heath Organization declared on August 24, 1995 that the outbreak of Ebola Zaire in Kikwit was officially over after killing 244 of its 315 known victims ( Ebola Outbreak Officially Over 1). • 4. Complication of Amputation and Edema Title Here Amputation is the general term describing a condition of disability resulting from the deliberate surgical removal of a part of the body, a limb, or part of a limb (Bowker Michael, 1992). Limb loss can be a congenital condition, the result of traumatic injury, or a surgical procedure to treat disease (Clawson, 2009). Clawson posits that the majority of amputations in the United States are the result of vascular disease caused by diabetes (p. 393). In cases of traumatic amputation, adjustment and adaptation is more difficult than for people who have had time to prepare, such as may occur with diabetes. Amputations may be performed at any level in the upper extremities such as the digits, the hand, or the arm, or in the lower extremities such as the toes, the foot, or the leg. Appropriate rehabilitation is a vital element to helping people with lower limb amputation learn to walk and function again and live high quality lives (Hanley et al., 2004). Literature Review In the United States, the majority of amputations are performed in order to treat complications of peripheral vascular disease; the greater numbers involve the lower limbs (Clawson, 2009). According to Bowker and Michael (1992), disease is the most frequent reason for amputation in adults age 50 or older, while trauma is the usual cause of amputation in younger individuals. The spankings were a way my mom would discipline me when I wouldn t do as I was told. This is called parental discipline. Parental discipline is a form of punishment given to children when they are being disobedient. Parental discipline branches out into various forms: physical, verbal, and minimization of certain gadgets etc. Many people believe parental discipline should be banned completely, but those people only focus on the abusive aspects of some forms of parental discipline. When parents appropriately and reasonably discipline their children, studies have shown, positive features come from it. Even though many parents do not recognize the difference between unreasonable discipline and appropriate parental discipline, parents have the right to discipline their children. Although many people see parental discipline as unnecessary, when parental discipline is practiced within a household, it shapes better morals, teaches children about expectations, and provides guidelines and principles for success in life. One positive outcome of parental discipline is the child s development of better morals. Parental discipline is given when the child is acting up. One reason children misbehave is because they pick up on what they see around them. But what the children are picking up are not the best morals a child should have, causing the child to act up. • 9. The Issue Of Political Participation Political participation is a right afforded to United States citizens; it is our civic duty to participate and is ultimately a privilege. The founders believed that it was the newly founded government s responsibility to protect the basic rights of the people. With those beliefs they made the United States of America, a two tiered, three branch democracy and therefore the people hold the power to freely elect who they want to represent them in government. The local representatives, we elect push for laws of interest to the majority and provide them with the resources that they need. The president implements and enforces laws that Congress passes. With such social ramifications and power granted to government representatives it would seem as though nearly everyone should be invested in political matters and actively engaged in political participation. Among the easiest ways to get involved politically is through the voting process and elections, others are symbolic participation, civil society participation, protesting, marching, contacting public officials, being part of election campaigns and even running for office. While voting is among the easiest ways to be a part of this democracy, the turnout is low. The right to vote has opened up to a larger number of people through legislation, but still the turnout rate is low. Once again, for a nurse to be able to weigh the outside forces that influence decisions and ethically measure their value patient priority must be applied. In expansion of patient priority, a nurse should practice this idea by specifically practicing good communication skills to everyone involved in the patients care at all times. This includes effectively communicating with the patient, the patient s family, other nurses, and the physician in charge of their care. By doing so, one is best performing patient advocacy and avoiding error. Also, the nurse should be aware of the care team s actions and how they affect the patient and be willing to speak up when a mistake may be occurring. Such as, if a doctor writes a wrong prescription or if a nurse doesn t correctly assess vitals, it is important for that nurse to appropriately advise her team members of their actions when it involves the patient. He is amazingly timeless. Yet, while we might know what Shakespeare is, will we ever really know who Shakespeare was? Ah, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sadly, Hamnet died in August of 1596, and from that point forward we have no more information regarding his family until 1616, the year of his death. There are enough legal documents and theatre records, though, to know that Shakespeare goes on to possess a generous amount of real estate, hold shares in an acting company that built the Globe Theatre, and become a principal player in the acting group The Kings Men (A Midsummer Night s Dream xxx xxxi). There are many theories and stories floating around that seem to fill in the gaping holes in his timeline, but since this information doesn t appear in a register or on a playbill, we don t know what is fact or fiction. On January 25th, 1616, Shakespeare signs his will in three places leaving the majority of his estate to his eldest daughter, Susanna, and his second best bed to his wife (All Shakespeare). Research Paper On Football Stadiums Olatunde Fadahunsi WWSD 350 Position Paper 1 Public spending on the creation of football stadiums often is something we do not place much consideration or focus on. It is interesting to see that these sports teams are successful business yet they are still utilizing taxpayer funds to grow and expand in unnecessary ways. It was stated that 29 of the 32 NFL stadiums have enjoyed billions of dollars in public funding. We are, too often, attracted and incited by the sold benefits of providing funding for the growth/expansion of these sport arenas. During the years of 2007 2009, the U.S was experiencing a recession, which may be explanation as to why unemployment rates went up and the economic status of the cities also declined. This could potentially create faulty/misleading data. I am unsure the purpose of finding information about the economic status as well as the unemployment rates of these cities because it may simply be a reflection of the unemployment rates as well as the economic status of the country. The true issue I found within the course of my research is the fact that these different stadiums are now competing with one another truly leads to a higher cost for us. In a sense, there is an essence of inequality simply because the players and owners are the ones that receive the profits earned from the stadiums. With limited knowledge of the NFL or even puplic policy, I was required to do an extensive research to truly understand the scope of the issue at hand. The true relevance of these publically funded stadiums to the NFL is the fact that there is a huge reliance on regular ticket sales to generate revenue. The reality is that these individual sports teams do not generate much economic business. It has been shown that an average sports team in 1994 only makes about 64 million dollars. The Scientific Revolution, which lasted roughly from 1543 to 1642, was arguably the greatest development in the European intellectual history (Kreis, 2012). It was a revolution in the way people perceived the world. During this era, scientific revolutionaries like Nicholas Copernicus, the Polish astronomer (1473 1543); Descartes, the French philosopher (1596 1650) and Isaac Newton the British mathematician (1642 1727) tried to better understand man and the physical world thereby overturning the authorities of the Church and the scientists and philosophers who preceded them, including Ptolemy, Galen and Aristotle. • 32. The Effect Of Gibberellic Acid On The Germination Of Seeds The Effect of Gibberellic Acid on the Germination of Seeds Authors Bijin Johnson, Veronica Razon, Harmony Juanta, Charlee Parr and Cathleen Castro. Introduction In this practical, six bags containing twelve histrix cactus seeds each were taken and another six bags containing twelve rocket salad seeds in each bag. Each bag was experimented with different concentrations of gibberellic acid to see how fast each would grow. This Hormone is responsible for growth and development in the plant. Therefore, small concentrations of this plant can help a plant grow faster but too large concentrations can have the opposite effect (Triplantanol, 2011). This chemical comes in the form of a yellowish powder that is dissolved in water and given to the plant (Wikipedia, 2015). Variables Independent Variable: The amount of Gibberellic Acid in each bag. Dependent Variable: The number of seeds germinated each day. Variables Held Constant: The length of time the bags were observed, number of trials done for each concentration and temperature and the amount of heat and light the plants were exposed to. Hypothesis If the concentration of Gibberellic Acid increase, the number of seeds germinated per day will increase. Method 12 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In class, we have viewed two films representing the problems with child soldiers in Sierra Leone which include films titled Blood Diamond and Ezra. Their minds are controlled by the RUF and if they did not comply with the orders of the organization they were immediately killed. This type of life is so unimaginable but still continues as we speak. In Blood Diamond, the western view of this miserable story of Sierra Leone is depicted. Having viewed the film several times I now understand the real reason behind the film. Because it is in a western, Hollywood view, the film can only keep the attention of the viewers if there is some kind of white influence. With that said, even though the story of child soldiers is what is meant to be depicted, the love story between a South African Journalist and an American diamond smuggler is what is represented instead. Instead of focusing on the true matter at hand, Hollywood insists on using the talents of Leonardo Di Caprio to misrepresent the issues over diamonds in Sierra Leone. In the film, it is misleading to see how savage like the children of Sierra Leone are made out to be. The story almost seemed too good to be true in the film and to anyone who does not know much about the situation in Sierra Leone it may have been a great film. In my opinion it was a very sad excuse for a film and the film in every way used the situation in Sierra Leone as an advantage to the boost of some of Hollywood s best actors careers. He did this so he didn t have to manage all of his armies/colonies at once, and could therefore manage his main army on all of his conquests. As far as political and civil liberties were concerned, Napoleon largely suppressed them with strict censorship and the establishment of a virtual police state in order to protect his power. One of his main accomplishments as a ruler was the establishment of the Napoleonic Civil Law Codes, which made all men equal under the law while maintaining their legal power over women. The way the ship was designed did not allow enough space for the amount of lifeboats that would have been required to save every single passenger. Fatty acid composition of adipose tissue and colorectal cancer: a case control study Colorectal cancer is considered as the third most common cancers worldwide that usually leads to the death of the patient. Studies have proved that lifestyle factors great influence the development and spread of cancer. Modifying the lifestyle can reduce the risk of getting colorectal cancer by 70%. It is noted that more consumption of red and processed meat increase the risk of developing colorectal cancer. However, high intake of dietary fibers decreases it. On the contrary epidemiologic studies that connect the fat intake with colorectal cancer are varying and unreliable. The concentrations of fatty acids in human serum and in the membranes of red blood cells depict the intake of previous days or weeks. According to Jeffrey Milyo author of Corporate Influence and Political Corruption, a nationally representative opinion survey done in 2008 states that, a little more than 50 percent of respondents agreed that corruption in the federal government is widespread and an extremely serious concern, while fewer than five percent considered corruption in the federal government to be rare or not a concern (Konisky, Milyo, and Richardson, 2008). This leads many Americans to believe that politics is an inherently corrupt activity (Milyo, 2014). This of option of course can be looked at from many different perspectives. With many major corporations contributing to political campaigns; it is assumed that these politicians are being bought to further benefit the corporation s agenda. Therefore, the perspective of Ethical Egoism; contributing to these campaigns is deemed justified since it would further benefit the company. A politician who invokes an ethical egoism view would believe that their actions of accepting contributions from a major cooperation would be justified since it helps them achieve their goal of entering their chosen political position. • 46. All in the Family All in the Family In 1971, New York Times columnist Fred Ferretti wrote an article about a new television series called All in the Family. Ferretti asked, whether or not if racism and bigotry were considered funny and he concluded that it was not and as a result believed that the show was lacking good taste. Apparently, the television viewers of America disagreed. Running from 1971 to 1979, All In The Family wasn t the first television series to tackle major issues on a major network, but what was innovative about the series, was that is that it hewed its situational comedy from topical issues, and it explored them through characters we got to know and cared about every week. Simply put, All in the Family wasn t just a great situational comedy; it as was an ongoing national conversation rooted in well written, well acted and multifaceted characters. In 1969, a young comedy writer named Norman Lear was given approval by CBS to create an American version of the popular British sitcom Till Death Do Us Part. Produced and developed by Lear, this concept of a sitcom about a blue collar family would eventually become, All in the Family. Premiering in January of 1971, the series focused on the lives of a working class family from the New York City borough of Queens, The Bunkers. • 47. Theme Of Disease In Oryx And Crake Disease: an unnaturally natural cure Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood is a post apocalyptic novel set in an undetermined future narrated by, Snowman, who seems to be the last true human on earth. Although the book reads as if it is telling a futuristic tale, in reality many of the scientific and cultural trends are drawn from our own, current society. One theme of the novel, disease, has parallel similarities to our society and world today. Disease is woven into all aspects of life, just as it was used in Oryx and Crake as a capitalistic weapon, a weapon of mass destruction, and it was used as a cure. Firstly, the theme of disease in this novel has an overwhelming existence, it is strongly linked into other themes and creates a foundation for how the novel unravels. As with our society, big pharmaceutical companies have control over life and death. We often perceive them as greedy, fear mongering scientists. Crake, the borderline mad scientist at RejoovenEssence, even accuses pharmaceutical companies of inventing diseases and cures simultaneously in order to maintain a high demand for their services, So, you d need more sick people. Or else and it might be the same thing more diseases. New and different ones. Right? Stands to reason, said Jimmy after a moment. It did, too. But don t they keep discovering new diseases? Not discovering, said Crake. They re creating them. (Atwood 211) The use of disease and the desire to be cured is nothing more than a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Privatization Of Social Security System Established by the federal government in 1935, the social security system is currently one of the most costly items in the federal budget. The purpose of the system is to provide for Federal old age benefits, and to enable social insurance and public assistance. The proposal of moving to an entirely new system would give the people living in the United States their own individual authority of controlling their own investments. If social security does not become privatized; the system itself will turn unsustainable, the retired and disabled will not fully receive their earnings; and the people of the United States will continue to have no control over their investments. Many politicians have utilized the privatization of social security as a political platform. For example, former President George W. Bush has had 47% of Republicans that has voted in support to privatize the system. Presently, the payments received from the Social Security system grants monetary payments to the millions of Americans that are either retired or the family members of the retired and disabled for deceased workers. The federal government is held responsible for collecting these payments. Back in 1935, the social security system was formerly known as the Old Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI). During this time, it only took seventeen contributions from workers to pay one retiree. In comparison to now, a quarter of the employed U.S households that has contributed into the Social security funding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
