Summary Of Snapping Beans By Lisa Parker
No matter how far away from family you are, you will always be connected to your roots. In Snapping
Beans by Lisa Parker, Parker uses an important symbol that resonates throughout the poem. The
hickory leaf, which symbolizes the granddaughter, is the most important symbol in the poem. The
granddaughter is the first child to go off to college and learn from the books rather than learn from
culture like her grandmother. During her conversation with her grandmother concerning school, there
is a wave of emotions flowing through the granddaughter s mind. The response at the end of the poem
that the grandma gives, It s funny how things blow loose like that is significant to the symbolism of
the granddaughter. In the poem, the leaf is being blown

What Is The Impact Of Joe Louis Rematch On American Society
What was the Affect of the Joe Louis Versus Max Schmeling Rematch on American Society?
Word Count: 2,861
Abstract
In the late 1930s Joe Louis and Max Schmeling were two of the world s best boxers. Joe Louis was
the American brown bomber and Schmeling was the black man of the Rhine. Joe Louis was the world
heavyweight champion in 1938 and Max Schmeling was the man who took away his undefeated
record in 1936. When Louis was named the heavyweight champion he felt that he needed to beat
Schmeling to prove that he truly was the best boxer in the world. On June 22 1938 the two boxers
would fight a rematch. This fight had much greater social and racial meaning to Americans than just a
simple boxing match. How did the Joe Louis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was almost impossible to dislike even for the staunchest racists. He was famed for his Personal Ten
Commandments , which included rules like never being seen with a white woman and never gloating
over a fallen opponent. He was incredibly humble with the press. He was viewed as a self made boxer
coming from a family that lived in a shack; formerly share croppers, to the man that he became. He
represented the American dream for most Americans, that anyone can make something of himself or
herself. In Germany he was viewed as a dumb black man who did not deserve the title belt. He was
hated but not hated with only anger. He was also hated with sheer contempt. He was viewed as
inherently inferior simply because of his skin color. In America Max Schmeling was seen as purely a
villain. He was seen as compliant with Hitler s Nazi views. He was the stereotypical Aryan race
member. America saw his previous match against Joe Louis as a fluke. He was one of Hitler s best
friends and therefore the boxing extension of Louis. Hitler had previously said a black man could
never beat a German boxer. America hated Hitler and therefore hated

Investigating The Distillation Apparatus For Operation At...
1.1 PROBLEM SUMMARY:
Solar still (distillation) is the process used to distil impure water using solar energy. The input is
muddy/brackish/saline water and we get pure water as output.
This project revolves around design and fabrication of a solar distillation apparatus, which will give
efficient distillation on a round the clock basis, and is capable of providing rural areas with pure and
healthy drinking water supply.
We will be concentrating our efforts on re designing the distillation apparatus for operation at
maximum efficiency. The distillation tank will rest on a platform made of cast iron. A commercially
available storage tank will be used for storing the saline water. This tank will then be covered by a
glass cover, on top and other suitable materials will be used as thermal shield on the sides, to retain the
heat. Reflectors will be added to supplement the incoming solar radiation. To make this apparatus
function continuously, we plan to attach a solar panel powered rechargeable battery to an auxiliary
heater which would help distil the water during night time. The sediment accumulated as impurity can
be removed by manual cleaning of the internal tank once a week /fortnight.
This entire process of designing and fabrication of this apparatus will take about 7 8 months after
which it will be put to rigorous testing for about 2 months, to validate our claims.
Due to rising sea water levels, increased use of chemical fertilizers and lack water distribution

Jafar/Aladdin: Yes, your honour.
Judge Genie (Isaac): Okay, let s start from the beginning, Wafer, present your case.
Jafar (Ashlynn): Well your honor, I wanted to buy a carpet for my living room, but my pay wage is
terrible at the palace. I asked Aladdin to help out. However, he was in jail for stealing bread, fruit, and
money from the merchants. I asked him to come with me to the Cave of Wonders to get the lamp, so I
could ask the Genie for money. Of course, Aladdin had to mess something up by filling the whole

Emotional Intelligence And Psychological Depth
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL BEING IN ADOLESCENTS The
general concept of emotional intelligence (EI) is partly rooted in Thorndike s (1920) idea of social
intelligence and Gardner s (1983) theory of multiple intelligences (especially intrapersonal and
interpersonal intelligence). In the current context, EI asa construct was discussed in a dissertation by
Payne (1986), even though as a term it had appeared in the literature much earlier (Leuner, 1966).
Salovey and Mayer (1990) put forward a theoretical model that viewed the construct as a subset of
social intelligence and Goleman (1995) provided a broad and highly influential account that has
nonetheless attracted concerted criticism for its unsubstantiated claims about the vital importance of
EI in people s personal, social and professional lives. The fact that the field still lacks a universally
accepted operational definition has contributed significantly to the emergence of inconsistent and
sometimes, contradictory findings that have often been discussed in the scientific literature (e.g.
Davies, Stankov, Roberts, 1998; Epstein, 1998; Mathews, Zeidner, Roberts, 2002). Psychological well
being has been approached differently by different researchers and views it in different ways. One
view sees it according to the hedonic and eudaimonic approaches of early philosophers. Subjective
well being was first used by Ryan and Deci (2001) as combination of pleasure, displeasure,
satisfaction and

Food Truck Cost Essay
Techniques and Cost:
Food truck space is limited, so the types of equipment available to produce the foods for the customers
must be resourceful. The same goes for the number of employees, 2 to three employees will be
allowed at any given time. They will have assigned tasks depending on time constraints and amount of
people ordering.
Costs of operating the food truck will consist of rent of the location being used per day or leased
monthly, and gas and electricity if both are needed to operate the truck, garbage and waste facility to
empty out the truck at end of each day (requirement for food trucks), cost of food sales products and
ingredients, and employee wages which will be calculated at about 2 to 3 employees per day.

Private space
For more control of your kitchen space, you can rent a private location. Having a private commercial
kitchen space will cost you more than sharing one, but you also have the ability to work at your own
pace and have more room for yourself. Another benefit of having a private space is the ability to be
able to store more ingredients. This would also be a cost saver in one aspect by being able to purchase
items in bulk that you wouldn t be able to purchase with a shared space.

A Transformation from Gracious to Malicious
Most people are kind at heart, but society s negative perceptions changes them. Mary Shelley s novel,
Frankenstein, portrays this concept. Frankenstein s monster treats humans kindly refuting the
stereotype that all monsters are evil. In this novel, the monster is kind towards mankind until society
criticizes him and turns him into a malicious creature. The monster that Frankenstein creates has kind
hearted morals, but because society harms him based on his hideous appearance. Because of his
treatment, he transforms into a murderous monster, pointing to the destructive power of societal
criticism.
Society rapidly judges the monster and forms opinions based on his outside appearance rather than his
internal intentions. After creating the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The feelings of kindness and gentleness which I had entertained but a few moments before gave place
to hellish rage and gnashing of teeth...I vowed eternal hatred and vengeance to all mankind (Shelley
168). The monster s use of the words destruction , miserable pain , hellish rage , eternal hatred , and
vengeance to all mankind strongly portray his detestation towards all mankind. The monster showed
benevolence, kindness , and gentleness , but instead he receives a bad reaction from mankind in
return. From the novel Horror, Michael Stuprich writes, Sympathy and antipathy are our crucial
responses... Frankenstein tells us that our sympathies, our antipathies, can be wrong. This applies
massively to the monster himself (who is rejected instantly, by everybody, purely because of his
hideous appearance)...as if to show that...just monsters suffer from this unfair fate . (Stuprich 118) The
monster s unfair fate illustrates the monster s appearance and how this appearance leads to his demise.
Everyone portrays a monster as an ugly, vicious creature. Because of the monster s ugly appearance,
society judges and shuns the monster, even though he is good natured. People make mistaken
judgments of others based upon appearance. They think they can trust their senses, but this is not
always correct. A bias equating ugly and evil turns people against the monster, which causes the

Character Analysis Of Mercy
In A Mercy, readers are able to see several phases of changes each individual characters go through
throughout the book. Lina, she goes through the phase where her experience changes her thinking.
Jacob, he changes by community, the surrounding environment he is surrounded by. Florens, the main
character of this book especially go through this phase several times. Readers see how her
experiences, family, race, and class alter her which is similar to how American s identity is being
determined today. First, readers see, from the overall experiences Florens has throughout the book,
how her identity is determined which is similar to how American s identity is determined today. For
instance, on the very beginning of A Mercy, Morrison references something strange thing that is
somewhat out of her context. Florens says, As a result, Lina says, my feet are useless... (4). The quote
illustrates that how Florens knows her identity or her feature that she has about her that her feet are
useless. The quote also claims about how Floren s identity is or what Florens though about her identity
is which can be used to compare how Florens have changed throughout her experience. Another
examples is shown when in the end of the book Florens shows how she has changed through her
experience that refers back to the the experience she had with her mother, Minha Mae. She says,

The R V. Dudley And Stephens Case Essay
The R v. Dudley and Stephens case occurred in 1884. In May of that year, four men left Southampton,
England for Australia on the Mignonette, a private sailing yacht. These men were Captain Thomas
Dudley (31), mate Edward Stephens (36), seaman Edmond Brooks (38), and cabin boy Richard Parker
(17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good Hope in July, bad weather struck the
yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips
were the only food they subsisted on for four days. They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that
lasted eight days, and were without food for another eight days after. The only fresh water they had
was the rain that came from time to time. On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill
from drinking seawater. On the eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea
that they should sacrifice one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult
Parker as he was ill. On July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they
had families to take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that
if there were no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley
killed Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. Brooks dissented until Parker s
death, but also fed on the blood and flesh of Parker with the two accused for four days.

I have the impression that American are very gullible and naïve. There had to be more to what they
were doing to convince Americans that Hollywood was friendly with Communists and poisoning them
with their movies. When I think of Americans today, many of them raise an eyebrow to what the
government is telling them. They will also often times do the exact opposite of what the government is
asking them to do. When Mike Bloomberg suggested making it illegal for restaurants to sell extra
large sodas, many people that I know went crazy and would deliberately get extra large sodas. These
people didn t necessarily like soda or need one of that size and most definitely knew that it was not
good for them; however they didn t like the fact that someone from the government was telling them
what they could and could not drink. These people felt that their rights were being violated. This is
how I view most Americans today, they are stubborn and are very protective of their rights. Which is
why I find it hard to believe that people actually bought into the idea that Hollywood was poisoning
them with Communist ideas and were in cahoots with Russia? My first experience at the New York

Essay about Socrates’ Trial Defense in Terms of His Values
Socrates Trial Defense in Terms of His Values
In his Apology, Plato recounted the trial that led to the execution of his friend and mentor, Socrates.
The account revealed that values of Socrates accusers and his own fundamentally differed, and that
they had been angered because he tried to prove that they had misplaced theirs. Those differences
created conflict between the two parties that culminated in his trial. With the understanding that a jury
condemned Socrates to death and his defense nevertheless pleased him because he gave it truthfully, it
is most sensible to call it a good defense because he felt it was the best that he could do.
In reply to the first charge against him, Socrates effectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Had people believed that Socrates in fact had no wisdom, his reputation would not have become so
bad and his defense would have been more likely to succeed. He explained, however that individuals
whom he criticized took offense at him and grew angry because they felt that he had more wisdom
than they did. ...I am called wise, for my hearers always imagine that I myself possess the wisdom
which I find wanting in others: but the truth is, O men of Athens, that God only is wise; and in this
oracle he means to say that the wisdom of men is little or nothing... (Plato, 5) While that statement
would not have convinced many people that Socrates lacked wisdom, it succeeded at presenting the
idea that the oracle meant the wisdom of people is little or nothing. That likely benefited him among
his supporters and some neutral jurors because they could have believed that Socrates mission had
been to show that people lacked wisdom compared to gods rather than that he had more wisdom than
others did. Among people who disliked him or who took pride in their wisdom, the argument would
not have helped him; they wouldn t have believed in the piety of his mission and they would have
thought that it proved the superiority of his wisdom to theirs.
Socrates then defended the second charge against him with logical arguments and facts of Athenian
society, both of which made this part of his overall defense

Comparing Dziga Vertov s Film, Man with a Movie Camera...
Comparing Dziga Vertov s Film, Man with a Movie Camera and Run Lola Run
The main and essential thing is : the sensory exploration of the world through film. We therefore take
as a point of departure the use of the camera as a keno eye, more perfect than the human eye, for the
exploration of the chaos of visual phenomena that fills space.
Dziga Vertov , Manifesto The Council of Three (1923)
The innovative theories and filmmaking techniques of Dziga Vertov revolutionized the way films are
made today. Man With a Movie Camera (1929), a documentary that represented the peak of the Soviet
avant garde film movement in the twenties, displayed techniques in montage, creative camera angles,

His original ways of thinking, isolated him from all other filmmakers. Even his style of using montage
(editing style commonly used by Soviet directors) in Man with a Movie Camera was very different. In
this film, hours of footage are edited together in many cuts, which is the style that Vertov is well
known for. His cuts are very rapid and he displays them accordingly to music to add excitement to the
sequence. The sequences act on all three levels of montage: narrative, intellectual, and emotional. For
example in the beginning of Man with a Movie Camera, there is a sequence in a theatre where the
cameraman sets up the film for the audience to watch (appendix 1). The lights come on, the seats go
down, the cameraman sets up the projector, the audience enters, the lights dim, the orchestra awaits
and then the manifest begins. The narration comes from the editor throughout the whole film. The
cameraman cannot possibly be the narrator since he is randomly out of frame and it is a silent film.

Analysis Of The Poem Charge Of The Light Brigade And ...
While both Alfred Lord Tennyson and Wilfred Owen describe war in great detail in their works
Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce Et Decorum Est, respectively, Tennyson describes the courage
and honor of warfare, whereas Owen goes into more detail about the horrors and atrocities that go
hand in hand with war. Tennyson describes a battle in which 600 bold and courageous men storm a
valley, which he refers to as the Valley of Death (line 7), to meet their almost inevitable death. Owen
in his Dulce et Decorum Est, describes a scene from World War I in which soldiers are bombarded
with gas shells. In this essay I will argue that despite their differing subjects and themes, both
Tennyson and Owen s work prove that the honor and courage of the soldiers comes directly from the
hardships they must endure. The fact that the men knew the dangers of fighting the battle and knew
that they were facing death is the factor in which Tennyson draws the theme of courage. In line 23, he
states: Boldly they rode and well, into the Jaws of Death (lines 23 4). In order to describe the
experience of war throughout his work, Alfred Lord Tennyson describes the courage of the 600 men
who rode into the Jaws of Death, to fight for victory even though they were facing inevitable death.
Although they fight valiantly, they are eventually ransacked by the gun fire of their opposition. The
600 are forced to retreat back from the valley, where even more men are killed. Also, by using the

The Negative Effects Of The Housing Market
I think high housing prices is a new reality but I don t think we just have to live with it. Steps can be
taken by all levels of government and the private sector that this new reality is creating, says James
McKellar. Now that Canadians are speaking out about their concerns for the market and their stability,
and professionals in the industry are beginning to become concerned, it is now the governments turn
to speak and try to fix the problem or help ease the minds of canadians. According to the Aurora
Banner, higher levels of governments are making moves to address the issue, including the federal
government s announcements to move and to tighten mortgage rules and closing a tax loophole for
foreign investors. This means that essentially the government will be making it harder for people to
qualify for a mortgage and for foreign investors when trying to purchase real estate. According to the
Toronto Star, As of Friday ,October 28, 2016, Minister Bill Morneau says that the government
continues to be vigilant in the monitoring the market , so we have no further actions under
consideration in terms of housing . Their most recent change was to end tax breaks for non residents
and make it harder to qualify for mortgages. This means, if you cannot qualify for a mortgage, you
cannot purchase real estate in Canada.

‘’A New Prisoner, Sir,’’ George Linsay Lead The Prisoner
A new prisoner, sir, George Linsay lead the prisoner into the office.
Nigel Robertson raised his eyebrows, fiddled with his moustache and glanced at the newcomer in a
meticulous, bewildered sort of manner. He thought this prisoner was not like the others the man
looked so innocent. His cheeks were like fresh, sticky, stretchy marshmallows, slightly toasted and his

Clean Technology For Air Pollution Reduction And...
Abstract Cleaner Production (CP) strategies are fundamentally concerned with operations,
environmental sustainability and maximization of waste reduction, recycling, and reuse. This research
has the purpose to identify the use of resources and sources of pollution in a cleaning equipments
manufacturing and testing factory in order to apply the principles of clean technology for air pollution
reduction and standardization of waste water. The research focuses on the assessment implemented by
Clean Technology (CT) to inquire into the cause of air pollution and wastewater. The main application
of clean technology is to minimize air pollution in the welding area (production area), and to develop
a better system for wastewater treatment. Installation of local exhaust ventilation with a proper design
can prevent the emission of welding fumes to the atmosphere and implementation of a treatment plant
will help for the reuse of water. Both can give the company a better environment friendly and working
atmosphere. A case study is carried out in a cleaning equipment manufacturing company.
Key words: cleaner production, welding fume management, waste water management

The Blind Side Movie
The Blind Side is based on a true story of Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher. The movie
was shot in 2009 and is rated pg 13 for brief violence, drug and sexual references. The movie
faithfully represents the real life experience of the famed football star; it did not fail to raise eyebrows
from both movie fans and critics. John Lee Hancock wrote and directed a box office hit that will have
you crying with laughter and reacting with sorrow to every twist and turn along the way. Bring some
Kleenex and get a box of popcorn and enjoy this heart filled true story of Michael Oher and his family.
The Blind Side is about Michael Oher s life and how he came from being homeless to living with the
Tuohy family. It shows how Michael overcame adversities from not being able to read and coming
from a drug infested neighborhood to learning how to be with a family who cared and would do
anything to help him succeed. Watching the movie, one could see how Oher was able to rise above
poverty and adversity and become left tackle for the Baltimore Ravens. John Hancock did an
awesome job at choosing scenes to include in the film. The most relevant ones were picked and
though it may only be a handful compared to what really happened, the scenes were very
representative of the story. The film skillfully plays on an audience s emotions, but that s what this sort
of movie does, and director John Hancock shows a sure hand when it comes to careful manipulation.

How Is Jay Gatsby Successful
In the 1920 s, otherwise known as the Roaring 20 s , Americans believed [that] in order to live a life to
the fullest, one would need to achieve their American dream. This idea of living a successful life is
captured in Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby. The character that best portrays trying to achieve
their American dream would be Jay Gatsby himself. For Gatsby, the American dream was to climb the
rigorous social ladder to have enough wealth to impress his love, Daisy, and recreate the past where he
can rekindle the love he and Daisy once had because he wishes to obtain Daisy s love once again. In a
way, Gatsby is successful in their pursuit of the American Dream because he shared many tender
moments between him and Daisy when they met again. For instance, His hand took hold of hers, and
as she said something low in his ear he turned toward her with a rush of emotions (96). This relates to
the American Dream since all he desired was to be with Daisy. It is obvious they are successful since

Furthermore, the clock almost shatters to the floor but was caught at the last second by Gatsby,

Emphysema
Introduction:
Emphysema is a condition of the lungs that involves the over inflation of the air sacs, otherwise
known as the alveoli. Normal functioning of the alveoli helps breathing in normal respiration. Unlike
other lung diseases this one can be inherited. This is a disease that can affect people of all ages and
genders. In 1994, the number of males with emphysema outnumbered the females by fifty four
percent. However, in the two years that followed the difference between males and females decreased
by ten percent.

people reporting cases. Currently, there are 1.8 million Americans in the United States that have
emphysema. Emphysema is ranked 15th among chronic conditions or diseases which limit people s

emphysema have reported that their daily activities have been greatly limited due to the disease.
Ethnical Distribution: Emphysema can be contracted by people of all walks of life and does not favor

When they first arrived, they knew that the Japanese tended to wait for the first wave to pass through

days before we ever got there. Bombed. Shelled. Everything you could think of to soften it up. . . At
6:30 in the morning all the transports were in place and by 6:40 the war had broken out. Slowly but
surely the American soldiers made progress and secured some of the airfields because by the
beginning of March, two thirds of the island was captured by American soldiers because they had a
strong Marine base and were able to push the Japanese back. After five days the Americans were able
to take over Mt. Suribachi which was such a relief for the soldiers because the five prior days was just

The Islamic Republic of Iran has a three branch government: Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary.
The Executive branch is headed by the president who is the second most powerful government
official. The president is elected by a national majority vote and is limited to two four year terms,
similar to the United States president. The Assembly of Experts evaluate the leader s actions and meet
with him annually to discuss his performance. The president can also be impeached by two thirds vote
of the Majlis, or parliament.6 The Supreme Leader is the commander in chief of the military. He
appoints all commanders in the armed forces. The Supreme Leader also appoints the head of the
judicial branch, sets state policy, declares war, and starts amendments and sees over them. The
President must be, according to the Constitution, a Shia Muslim. The president selects many vice
presidents and 21 ministers who make up his cabinet. How the president and the leader separate power
has changed with the leaders in control. When Rafsanjani was in office through the 1990 s he made
himself the law and left little room for the president to use his power.7 The legislative branch has a
Majlis and the Guardians Council. The Majlis is a board of 290 deputies and they serve a four year
terms and are elected by the people. Seeing as the majority is Shia Muslims, five seats are reserved for
special religious minorities.

his ideas of what essential Prince qualities are, hoping that someone who reads them will follow his

Machiavelli is not only the Prince but is drawing a comparison of himself to God. He is the source of
the reader s lawgiving to others by implementing new modes and orders via the person or people who

would be Machiavelli. In chapter 26 it is mentioned that Moses greatness came as a resolution to
tragedy, those enslaved in Egypt (102). That can be compared to the conflicts going in Italy during his
time, and is Machiavelli compelling another to show greatness if they follow his orders and fix the

that is actually brought upon by their own doing. Machiavelli stresses the importance of the Prince

The Reality Of Television Programs
Today s television programs are very different from the television programs that were shown over fifty
years ago. The shows in the past portrayed a modest conservative family. These families consist of a
hardworking man and a stay at home woman, married raising their own biological children. As the
years went by, television has started to portray a more liberal definition of what a family means in
today s world. Because of today s TV shows, there are different ideas about what a family should look
like.
Families on TV are not always a married couple containing one man and one woman raising their own
children. We now have many shows that support gay rights when it comes to marriage and being
parents. The hit comedy Modern Family has the funny loveable characters of Mitchell and Cameron.
They adopted a baby girl from Vietnam. The series also shows the wedding between the two men, as
well as the comical outcomes when they try to raise their daughter the best way possible. As Greg
Graffin wrote in his article Anarchy in the Tenth Grade It is also a shining example of how easy it is to
follow the party line and champion a bandwagon mentality which only motivates me to keep fighting
for originality. (3) This is seen on the show The Fosters , a girl named Callie is placed in a foster home
with a lesbian couple and their other adopted children. On this show the couple showed more love and
support than the previous foster homes she was placed in, that consisted of the usual

How To Enhance Food
Many people will say that the less seasoning you use on a steak, the more enjoyable it will be. The
reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your
enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if
possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that
if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak,
consider seasoning it with the following spices.
Salt
Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine
crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed
into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. You can use
kosher salt or any other large crystal salt as a finishing salt to be sprinkled onto the meat after it has
been cooked. You will want these salts to stick around since their purpose is as much to enhance the
presentation as it is to enhance the flavor and texture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note that for best results, the black pepper that you use should be freshly ground. Ideally, you should
grind the pepper right onto the steak just before it goes on the grill or into the cast iron skillet. Like
many spices, black pepper loses its flavor quickly after being ground. The mild heat of black pepper
combined with its pine flavor notes is an excellent complement to the savory, umami qualities of a

The Black Horn
The words that Cassandra shouts as she is led toward her death present a curiously incomprehensible
riddle. At first, everything seems to make sense: Agamemnon correlates to the bull and Clytemnestra
to the cow, but when we look at passage more closely, we see that Cassandra describes the cow as the
one having the horn that gores the bull, and, even more curious, the horn isn t white, but black. I
suggest that this passage, or riddle, reveals the conflation and shifting of gender roles as demonstrated
the king and his queen, as Agamemnon is often interpreted as effeminate and Clytemnestra masculine.
Furthermore, the most bizarre part of the passage is the black horn. I think it represents the crux of
Clytemnestra s power, as a horn is a marker of maleness in cattle, it marks Clytemnestra s strong
masculine power; that the horn is black, though, situates it in the realm of feminine power and control,
as black is the color of the feminine earth, where the Furies reside.
In order to better understand the metaphors and riddles used in the above passage the audience must
have a little more understanding of the characters involved. Cassandra is a prophetess of Apollo and
the daughter of King Priam of Troy. She has been taken from Troy and brought as Agamemnon s
concubine. She has the gift of prophecy and the curse that no man will believe the truth she sees and
tells. She is able to see, experience and become emotionally involved with her visions. Through her

Building Clock Speed Vs. Processor s Errand
(CPU) or processor s errand is to Fetch guidelines, and to decode what to do, execute the appeal, and
Store the results. To build clock speed, these three stages must be separated. This is with the goal that
you don t need to hold up for each line in the processor to settle for the aftereffect of each direction.
Much like a sequential construction system, each one piece of the guideline is decoded and sent
through the processor in stages along the pipeline. More stages means speedier clock speed, yet then
that likewise implies more issues when the code obliges a hop (if, else, switch, case), if the execution
would be quicker in an alternate request, or data required for another guideline is still in the pipeline.
It s a fragile parity where there is no immaculate arrangement. Designers are compelled to attempt
outlines and mimic which one will finish the shopper s requests the speediest. It s generally won t a
straightforward race of recurrence. Memory construction modeling depicts the techniques used to
actualize electronic machine information stockpiling in a way that is a blend of the speediest, most
dependable, most solid, and slightest costly approach to store and recover data. Contingent upon the
particular application, a bargain of one of these necessities may be fundamental so as to enhance an
alternate necessity. Case in point, dynamic memory is ordinarily utilized for essential information

Democracy in Singapore
2. Is there democracy in Singapore?
What is Democracy?
Singapore has been recognized as a representative democratic state since August 1965. However, to
examine if Singapore is in fact democratic, we need to first define the word democracy and its
parameters. The word originated from M.Fr democratis in the 1570s, with demo referring to common
people and cratie to rule of strength. Therefore, by definition, Singapore can be classified as a
democratic country due to the fair elections which enable her people to choose their government.
Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from

Further, the time period between each General Election in Singapore is also relatively longer than the
other democratic states, such as the Unite States, where elections are held consistently every four
years. The announcement of the election dates are also only released just before the election itself.
This inflexibility in the political system is detrimental to the opposition parties and also place severe
restrictions on the citizens in terms of their rights to decide when to have an election.
Chief reasons for the PAP s continued dominance
The PAP s ability to maintain its hegemony till date can be attributed to two main reasons, firstly, the
PAP has been introducing schemes in the electorate system to suppress the opposition and secondly,
the PAP s control over the grassroots organizations have established the required link between itself
and the citizens.
Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP)
As mentioned earlier, the NMP scheme has been employed by the PAP to function as an institution to
prevent potential opposition by taking the talented and qualified individual inside their ranks, thus
greatly limiting the pool of talent for the opposition right from the onset. Quoting Bilver Singh, by
bringing these talents into the political system in a safe and non threatening manner, the PAP is
effectively denying the oppositional forces the possibility of recruiting these talents into their ranks.

Clickbait uses persuasive and absorbing headlines and images to allows readers to quickly browse

NASA Management Failure and the Columbia Space Shuttle...
Introduction The Columbia space shuttle disintegrated on re entry into the Earth s atmosphere in
February of 2003. The astronauts on board had completed a two week mission and were returning
home. The program was halted for the next couple of years while the disaster was investigated. The
Columbia Accident Investigation Board reported on what if found to be the cause of the tragedy. After
take off a piece of insulation foam fell off and hit the external fuel tank and left wing. The damage to
the wing s thermal protection was unknown. On re entry the heat caused the aluminum airframe
structure to melt, causing the explosion. The report listed other factors contributing to this accident
including organizational problems. How NASA presented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believed Columbia would survive re entry. The mission was allowed to continue. (Disaster,
2008) NASA had made a bad decision. The accident investigation report infers that the engineers
doubts and concerns not being effectively communicated to NASA s management. The wrong
reporting tool was used to convey technical data. Open discussion of concerns was not encouraged
and this resulted in failure to properly investigate issues. Senior executives did not encourage input
from the lower ranking engineers. The engineers saw potential danger from a foam strike to the
Columbia. The minutes and audiotapes of NASA s Mission Management Team reveal little discussion
other than from executives. Concerns regarding the foam impacts affect on the integrity of the orbiter
were quickly refocused to a discussion of how much additional maintenance might now be needed to
prepare Columbia for its next flight. Transcribed and audio evidence showed that many NASA
meetings were inconsistent and ineffective. NASA management meetings were condensed, sometimes
shaving multiple slide engineering analyses down to a single slide. The potential impact of a foam
strike on the orbiter is an example. Sometimes the slides presented would have factual errors or errors
in assumptions that an expanded briefing or technical data may have eliminated. The history of foam
strikes and external tank modifications is an example. Many key NASA

The Innocence Of Simple Observation
In particular, Krishnamurti emphasizes that In all spiritual matters, there must be and should be no
authority whatsoever because you cannot be free, to investigate, to find out for yourself what
meditation means if you are under the influence of an authority (What is Meditation (Truth and
Actuality) 1968). By the word investigate, he means observation. It is only in the process of
observation that we can learn the reality of what is. In the innocence of simple observation there can
be no judgement or holding to anything that is seen. In pure observation which Krishnamurti also
terms as choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) he suggests that when we
have brought the past into the now and the end of that past is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The double slit experiment demonstrates that the observation of a system will alter the final product to
be particles or waves if no observation takes place a wave pattern is revealed; if observation takes
place these same objects exhibit the behavior of point particles. When fully matured observation of the
movement of life increases our level of awareness and perception which allows for the natural
transcending of the senses and the intellectual mind to bring us to the direct experience of the Self
which is always in the transcendent. In the transcendent we realize that the observer has become the
observed, the two are united in One, the Self. According to Krishnamurti, to transcend is by choiceless
awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) which allows the mind to be free of all its total
content so that we empty the known and from that emptiness...is something most holy, which is the
whole movement of meditation, then life then has a totally different meaning (What is Meditation
(Truth and Actuality) 1968). What Krishnamurti appears to be suggesting is that to live in a permanent
state of transcendence there is no need to study books on self improvement or to self program one s
self or be confined within the practice of regular meditation for the transcendent power of innocent
observation is enough to unite us with the Self. Observation, according to Krishnamurti

Advantages Of The Earned Schedule
The Earned Schedule Solution
To resolve the drawbacks of EVM technique, Earned Schedule has been introduced to provide
stronger performance measurement indicators that express performance of a project s schedule in units
of time. ES (Earned Schedule) is like a replacement for EV (Earned Value), PD refers to the planned
duration of a project or an activity which can be a replacement of PV (Planned Value), while AT which
stands for Actual Time of an activity may replaces AC (Actual Cost).
Very similar to EVM calculations, we have new derived equations that relates to project performance
measurement but with a more sense of units of time. We now can have a schedule variance that
translates into time units, whether it was days or months, which is much more expressive than
calculating a schedule variance with a dollar sign.
The following is a comparison between Earned Value and Earned Schedule technique with respect to
their main equations:
Earned Value Management Earned Schedule

Accordingly, Earned Schedule was also a successful and easy derivative of the Earned Value
Management tool. It has make things much easy to link between cost and time performance of a
project to its schedule analysis. Moreover, Earned Schedule provides schedule performance indices
and gauges with time based units, which was not very reachable in the Earned Value Tools. Using ES
technique, the future performance of a project can be predicted easily and precisely according to
matters of time and durations. Furthermore, Earned Schedule can be used for different sizes, scales
and natures of projects. The tool is also considered useful for analyzing the total project, sub levels
and sole activities, as well as, it is capable of analyzing the schedule performance of critical

Leadership Into The Next Millennium
1.) The concept that I have acquired and would to discuss is leadership into the next millennium .
There are many leaders that share similar but different leadership approaches. But for all leaders,
communication is critical to the success of their vision and their approach to how their vision is
utilized within their organization. Communication needs to takes place at all levels from initial
training to senior management training roles. A leader will use communication to relay information to
all employees at all levels. When doing so, all employees should understand why the organization
exists, what the organization does, what the long term growth outlook is and most importantly in my
opinion, the important things the company does not do. When leaders use clear and honest
communication they are increasing their chances that the employees will build positive emotional
bank account deposits while building trust. An employee will trust that leader to communicate during
positive and negative times. The leader will also value their employees and will genuinely care about
their employees. Unlike traditional leadership where people were counted as expendable and
replaceable, the new approach to leadership values the asset which is the employee. For example, a
leader will have meeting with all levels of management to explain and go over in detail a vision in
which the lower level employees will be able to share their vision. This shared vision has the potential
to create new

Rain Man Psychology
KMart sucks! This very short sentence was one of the most meaningful lines said by Raymond in the
movie Rain Man starring Tom Cruise(Charlie) and Dustin Hoffman(Raymond). This line represents
more than it says. It shows the ability to learn and grow of those who are considered disabled. Rain
Man shows several psychological views. It also shows the life and struggles of those with autism and
savant syndrome. This film is full of psychology and emotion and growth. Charlie s father passes
away, but Charlie is only left with his father s car and collection of rose bushes. Where Charlie s father
s money went to a person, which according to the will, cannot be named for Charlie. After some
searching around Charlie found out it was his long lost brother, Raymond. Raymond suffered with
autism his whole life and his father put him into an institution right after their mother passed away.
Charlie was very greedy, and thought that he deserved at least $1.5 million too. So the most logical
thing that Charlie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actually there are hardly any movies that portray real life as it would happen. Rain Man is not quite
an exception to the previous statement. Raymond Babbit is based off of a person in real life; this man
s name was Kim Peek. Kim Peek had also developed autism and savant syndrome just like Raymond
had. The theories represented are portrayed almost perfectly. Raymond does have a lack of
understanding of emotion and he does show an aptitude of high memory and arithmetic skills. What is
not so on point in this great film is the road trip. What is surprising and inaccurate is that Charlie was
basically able to kidnap his own brother out of an institution. Even in the 80 s there still would have
been security that would have stopped Charlie and Raymond from ever leaving the building. Besides
for the kidnapping scenario this movie accurately portrays the psychology as it

Suicide In Me Before You, By Jojo Moyes
People all have their own opinions about suicide and reasons to commit it, but could an author create a
story to convince readers that suicide is okay? In the book Me Before You, Jojo Moyes has two main
characters who have different opinions about this topic. Will Traynor wants to commit suicide and
Louisa Clark is trying to prevent him from doing so. This created a lot of controversy in the book
itself from both sides of the argument. People should have the right to commit suicide when disabled
disadvantaged mentally or physically. In the book Me Before You, Jojo Moyes emphasizes the
importance of having euthanasia as an option for ending your life when disabled.
Moyes argues that disabled people cannot live life happily after having great experiences while active.
She has Will, the quadriplegic man, living a depressing life ever since his accident. He spends his days
waiting for his last day to arrive, and sadly, he wants it to occur soon. He has nothing to look forward
for in his life. Lou s attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

taking him on adventures would make him realize that the world is fun and worth living for. He
realizes that yes, the world is great but that he truly can t explore and venture off into it while being
disabled. One will had made his decision in the first place, he knew that was the only way he would be
happy. QUOTE As hard as Lou tried to convince Will to stay alive, she finally understood why he
wanted to take his life. Lou, who was at first against his ideas and incoming actions, changed her mind
after realizing why he wanted to die. Persuasion could not change Will s mind because his past was so

An Analysis of William Carlos Williams Poem, The Young...
An Analysis of William Carlos Williams Poem, The Young Housewife
In this poem, Williams uses a series of images to capture a fleeting moment in time, an emotion of
admiration and desire. The poem consists of three stanzas of varying length, and each share in a
similar method in portraying the woman and the narrator s relationship with her. Each stanza starts out
with somewhat broad statements about the scene, and as they each progress, they become more
specific until the image is pinned down to a specific moment in time. After reading the poem the
reader is left with three separate images, which describe the emotion/admiration felt by the narrator
for the woman.
Williams in the first stanza gives the reader a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here again the time of day comes into play, as most everyone has a mental image of what the lighting
is like at about that time. Before one gets prepared for the day, after waking up, I imagine the curtains
pulled and stillness in the house. Here the poet is describing a moment that many of us have shared at
one time or another, making his proper word choice essential in not being too specific but at the same
time allowing details to filter through. It is the details that connate imagery in the reader, while it is the
simplicity that allows for individual interpretation.
In the second stanza the poet introduces the woman to the outside world. As she comes to the curb to
call the ice man,[and] fish man , she is still not fully clothed as she is, uncorseted, tucking in stray
ends of hair. This description tells more about her personality as her attire may help to explain her
shyness.
It is here where the author compares her to a fallen leaf. This could mean any number of things. A
fallen leaf is free from the rest of the tree, whether broken away because of the season s change or
from a gust of wind, the leaf has fallen and begins a stage of deterioration, as it is forever severed
from the life giving resources of the tree. While the idea of a fallen leaf is somewhat tragic, it is
nonetheless a necessary phase in the life of

  • 2. Summary Of Snapping Beans By Lisa Parker No matter how far away from family you are, you will always be connected to your roots. In Snapping Beans by Lisa Parker, Parker uses an important symbol that resonates throughout the poem. The hickory leaf, which symbolizes the granddaughter, is the most important symbol in the poem. The granddaughter is the first child to go off to college and learn from the books rather than learn from culture like her grandmother. During her conversation with her grandmother concerning school, there is a wave of emotions flowing through the granddaughter s mind. The response at the end of the poem that the grandma gives, It s funny how things blow loose like that is significant to the symbolism of the granddaughter. In the poem, the leaf is being blown ... Word Count: 2,861 Abstract In the late 1930s Joe Louis and Max Schmeling were two of the world s best boxers. Joe Louis was the American brown bomber and Schmeling was the black man of the Rhine. Joe Louis was the world heavyweight champion in 1938 and Max Schmeling was the man who took away his undefeated record in 1936. When Louis was named the heavyweight champion he felt that he needed to beat Schmeling to prove that he truly was the best boxer in the world. On June 22 1938 the two boxers would fight a rematch. This fight had much greater social and racial meaning to Americans than just a simple boxing match. How did the Joe Louis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The input is muddy/brackish/saline water and we get pure water as output. This project revolves around design and fabrication of a solar distillation apparatus, which will give efficient distillation on a round the clock basis, and is capable of providing rural areas with pure and healthy drinking water supply. We will be concentrating our efforts on re designing the distillation apparatus for operation at maximum efficiency. The distillation tank will rest on a platform made of cast iron. A commercially available storage tank will be used for storing the saline water. This tank will then be covered by a glass cover, on top and other suitable materials will be used as thermal shield on the sides, to retain the heat. Reflectors will be added to supplement the incoming solar radiation. To make this apparatus function continuously, we plan to attach a solar panel powered rechargeable battery to an auxiliary heater which would help distil the water during night time. The sediment accumulated as impurity can be removed by manual cleaning of the internal tank once a week /fortnight. This entire process of designing and fabrication of this apparatus will take about 7 8 months after which it will be put to rigorous testing for about 2 months, to validate our claims. • 7. Emotional Intelligence And Psychological Depth EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL BEING IN ADOLESCENTS The general concept of emotional intelligence (EI) is partly rooted in Thorndike s (1920) idea of social intelligence and Gardner s (1983) theory of multiple intelligences (especially intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence). In the current context, EI asa construct was discussed in a dissertation by Payne (1986), even though as a term it had appeared in the literature much earlier (Leuner, 1966). Salovey and Mayer (1990) put forward a theoretical model that viewed the construct as a subset of social intelligence and Goleman (1995) provided a broad and highly influential account that has nonetheless attracted concerted criticism for its unsubstantiated claims about the vital importance of EI in people s personal, social and professional lives. The fact that the field still lacks a universally accepted operational definition has contributed significantly to the emergence of inconsistent and sometimes, contradictory findings that have often been discussed in the scientific literature (e.g. Davies, Stankov, Roberts, 1998; Epstein, 1998; Mathews, Zeidner, Roberts, 2002). Psychological well being has been approached differently by different researchers and views it in different ways. One view sees it according to the hedonic and eudaimonic approaches of early philosophers. Subjective well being was first used by Ryan and Deci (2001) as combination of pleasure, displeasure, satisfaction and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The R V. Dudley And Stephens Case Essay The R v. Dudley and Stephens case occurred in 1884. In May of that year, four men left Southampton, England for Australia on the Mignonette, a private sailing yacht. These men were Captain Thomas Dudley (31), mate Edward Stephens (36), seaman Edmond Brooks (38), and cabin boy Richard Parker (17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good Hope in July, bad weather struck the yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips were the only food they subsisted on for four days. They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that lasted eight days, and were without food for another eight days after. The only fresh water they had was the rain that came from time to time. On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill from drinking seawater. On the eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea that they should sacrifice one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult Parker as he was ill. On July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they had families to take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that if there were no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley killed Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. Those differences created conflict between the two parties that culminated in his trial. (Plato, 5) While that statement would not have convinced many people that Socrates lacked wisdom, it succeeded at presenting the idea that the oracle meant the wisdom of people is little or nothing. That likely benefited him among his supporters and some neutral jurors because they could have believed that Socrates mission had been to show that people lacked wisdom compared to gods rather than that he had more wisdom than others did. Among people who disliked him or who took pride in their wisdom, the argument would not have helped him; they wouldn t have believed in the piety of his mission and they would have thought that it proved the superiority of his wisdom to theirs. While both Alfred Lord Tennyson and Wilfred Owen describe war in great detail in their works Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce Et Decorum Est, respectively, Tennyson describes the courage and honor of warfare, whereas Owen goes into more detail about the horrors and atrocities that go hand in hand with war. Tennyson describes a battle in which 600 bold and courageous men storm a valley, which he refers to as the Valley of Death (line 7), to meet their almost inevitable death. Owen in his Dulce et Decorum Est, describes a scene from World War I in which soldiers are bombarded with gas shells. In this essay I will argue that despite their differing subjects and themes, both Tennyson and Owen s work prove that the honor and courage of the soldiers comes directly from the hardships they must endure. The fact that the men knew the dangers of fighting the battle and knew that they were facing death is the factor in which Tennyson draws the theme of courage. In line 23, he states: Boldly they rode and well, into the Jaws of Death (lines 23 4). In order to describe the experience of war throughout his work, Alfred Lord Tennyson describes the courage of the 600 men who rode into the Jaws of Death, to fight for victory even though they were facing inevitable death. How Is Jay Gatsby Successful In the 1920 s, otherwise known as the Roaring 20 s , Americans believed [that] in order to live a life to the fullest, one would need to achieve their American dream. This idea of living a successful life is captured in Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby. The character that best portrays trying to achieve their American dream would be Jay Gatsby himself. For Gatsby, the American dream was to climb the rigorous social ladder to have enough wealth to impress his love, Daisy, and recreate the past where he can rekindle the love he and Daisy once had because he wishes to obtain Daisy s love once again. Because of today s TV shows, there are different ideas about what a family should look like. The reality is that even a good cut of meat will need some seasoning if you want to maximize your enjoyment and the nutritional benefit that you get from it. You should opt for simpler options if possible but spices have been used to enhance food throughout history for a reason. The reason is that if you use them correctly, you can enhance both nutrition and flavor. To get a truly flavorful steak, consider seasoning it with the following spices. Salt Salt is the essential seasoning for savory dishes. For steak, you will want to use a salt with fine crystals. The reason is that those crystals will dissolve more quickly and take less time to be absorbed into the meat. Larger crystals will not dissolve unless there is a lot of water present. I suggest that this passage, or riddle, reveals the conflation and shifting of gender roles as demonstrated the king and his queen, as Agamemnon is often interpreted as effeminate and Clytemnestra masculine. Furthermore, the most bizarre part of the passage is the black horn. I think it represents the crux of Clytemnestra s power, as a horn is a marker of maleness in cattle, it marks Clytemnestra s strong masculine power; that the horn is black, though, situates it in the realm of feminine power and control, as black is the color of the feminine earth, where the Furies reside. In order to better understand the metaphors and riddles used in the above passage the audience must have a little more understanding of the characters involved. Cassandra is a prophetess of Apollo and the daughter of King Priam of Troy. She has been taken from Troy and brought as Agamemnon s concubine. The damage to the wing s thermal protection was unknown. On re entry the heat caused the aluminum airframe structure to melt, causing the explosion. The report listed other factors contributing to this accident including organizational problems. How NASA presented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They believed Columbia would survive re entry. The mission was allowed to continue. (Disaster, 2008) NASA had made a bad decision. The accident investigation report infers that the engineers doubts and concerns not being effectively communicated to NASA s management. The wrong reporting tool was used to convey technical data. Open discussion of concerns was not encouraged and this resulted in failure to properly investigate issues. Senior executives did not encourage input from the lower ranking engineers. The engineers saw potential danger from a foam strike to the Columbia. The minutes and audiotapes of NASA s Mission Management Team reveal little discussion other than from executives. Concerns regarding the foam impacts affect on the integrity of the orbiter were quickly refocused to a discussion of how much additional maintenance might now be needed to prepare Columbia for its next flight. Transcribed and audio evidence showed that many NASA meetings were inconsistent and ineffective. NASA management meetings were condensed, sometimes shaving multiple slide engineering analyses down to a single slide. The potential impact of a foam strike on the orbiter is an example. Sometimes the slides presented would have factual errors or errors in assumptions that an expanded briefing or technical data may have eliminated. The history of foam strikes and external tank modifications is an example. Many key NASA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Innocence Of Simple Observation In particular, Krishnamurti emphasizes that In all spiritual matters, there must be and should be no authority whatsoever because you cannot be free, to investigate, to find out for yourself what meditation means if you are under the influence of an authority (What is Meditation (Truth and Actuality) 1968). By the word investigate, he means observation. It is only in the process of observation that we can learn the reality of what is. In the innocence of simple observation there can be no judgement or holding to anything that is seen. In pure observation which Krishnamurti also terms as choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) he suggests that when we have brought the past into the now and the end of that past is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The double slit experiment demonstrates that the observation of a system will alter the final product to be particles or waves if no observation takes place a wave pattern is revealed; if observation takes place these same objects exhibit the behavior of point particles. When fully matured observation of the movement of life increases our level of awareness and perception which allows for the natural transcending of the senses and the intellectual mind to bring us to the direct experience of the Self which is always in the transcendent. In the transcendent we realize that the observer has become the observed, the two are united in One, the Self. According to Krishnamurti, to transcend is by choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) which allows the mind to be free of all its total content so that we empty the known and from that emptiness...is something most holy, which is the whole movement of meditation, then life then has a totally different meaning (What is Meditation (Truth and Actuality) 1968). What Krishnamurti appears to be suggesting is that to live in a permanent state of transcendence there is no need to study books on self improvement or to self program one s self or be confined within the practice of regular meditation for the transcendent power of innocent observation is enough to unite us with the Self. • 45. Advantages Of The Earned Schedule The Earned Schedule Solution To resolve the drawbacks of EVM technique, Earned Schedule has been introduced to provide stronger performance measurement indicators that express performance of a project s schedule in units of time. ES (Earned Schedule) is like a replacement for EV (Earned Value), PD refers to the planned duration of a project or an activity which can be a replacement of PV (Planned Value), while AT which stands for Actual Time of an activity may replaces AC (Actual Cost). Very similar to EVM calculations, we have new derived equations that relates to project performance measurement but with a more sense of units of time. We now can have a schedule variance that translates into time units, whether it was days or months, which is much more expressive than calculating a schedule variance with a dollar sign. The following is a comparison between Earned Value and Earned Schedule technique with respect to their main equations: Earned Value Management Earned Schedule EV (Earned Value) ES (Earned Schedule) PV (Planned Value) PD (Planned Duration) ... It has make things much easy to link between cost and time performance of a project to its schedule analysis. Moreover, Earned Schedule provides schedule performance indices and gauges with time based units, which was not very reachable in the Earned Value Tools. Using ES technique, the future performance of a project can be predicted easily and precisely according to matters of time and durations. Furthermore, Earned Schedule can be used for different sizes, scales and natures of projects. The tool is also considered useful for analyzing the total project, sub levels and sole activities, as well as, it is capable of analyzing the schedule performance of critical ... • 46. Leadership Into The Next Millennium 1.) The concept that I have acquired and would to discuss is leadership into the next millennium . There are many leaders that share similar but different leadership approaches. But for all leaders, communication is critical to the success of their vision and their approach to how their vision is utilized within their organization. Communication needs to takes place at all levels from initial training to senior management training roles. A leader will use communication to relay information to all employees at all levels. When doing so, all employees should understand why the organization exists, what the organization does, what the long term growth outlook is and most importantly in my opinion, the important things the company does not do. When leaders use clear and honest communication they are increasing their chances that the employees will build positive emotional bank account deposits while building trust. An employee will trust that leader to communicate during positive and negative times. The leader will also value their employees and will genuinely care about their employees. Unlike traditional leadership where people were counted as expendable and replaceable, the new approach to leadership values the asset which is the employee. For example, a leader will have meeting with all levels of management to explain and go over in detail a vision in which the lower level employees will be able to share their vision. This shared vision has the potential to create new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Rain Man Psychology KMart sucks! This very short sentence was one of the most meaningful lines said by Raymond in the movie Rain Man starring Tom Cruise(Charlie) and Dustin Hoffman(Raymond). This line represents more than it says. It shows the ability to learn and grow of those who are considered disabled. Rain Man shows several psychological views. It also shows the life and struggles of those with autism and savant syndrome. This film is full of psychology and emotion and growth. Charlie s father passes away, but Charlie is only left with his father s car and collection of rose bushes. Where Charlie s father s money went to a person, which according to the will, cannot be named for Charlie. After some searching around Charlie found out it was his long lost brother, Raymond. Raymond suffered with autism his whole life and his father put him into an institution right after their mother passed away. Actually there are hardly any movies that portray real life as it would happen. Rain Man is not quite an exception to the previous statement. Raymond Babbit is based off of a person in real life; this man s name was Kim Peek. Kim Peek had also developed autism and savant syndrome just like Raymond had. The theories represented are portrayed almost perfectly. Raymond does have a lack of understanding of emotion and he does show an aptitude of high memory and arithmetic skills. What is not so on point in this great film is the road trip. What is surprising and inaccurate is that Charlie was basically able to kidnap his own brother out of an institution. Even in the 80 s there still would have been security that would have stopped Charlie and Raymond from ever leaving the building. Besides for the kidnapping scenario this movie accurately portrays the psychology as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Suicide In Me Before You, By Jojo Moyes People all have their own opinions about suicide and reasons to commit it, but could an author create a story to convince readers that suicide is okay? In the book Me Before You, Jojo Moyes has two main characters who have different opinions about this topic. Will Traynor wants to commit suicide and Louisa Clark is trying to prevent him from doing so. This created a lot of controversy in the book itself from both sides of the argument. People should have the right to commit suicide when disabled disadvantaged mentally or physically. In the book Me Before You, Jojo Moyes emphasizes the importance of having euthanasia as an option for ending your life when disabled. Moyes argues that disabled people cannot live life happily after having great experiences while active. She has Will, the quadriplegic man, living a depressing life ever since his accident. • 49. An Analysis of William Carlos Williams Poem, The Young... An Analysis of William Carlos Williams Poem, The Young Housewife In this poem, Williams uses a series of images to capture a fleeting moment in time, an emotion of admiration and desire. The poem consists of three stanzas of varying length, and each share in a similar method in portraying the woman and the narrator s relationship with her. Each stanza starts out with somewhat broad statements about the scene, and as they each progress, they become more specific until the image is pinned down to a specific moment in time. After reading the poem the reader is left with three separate images, which describe the emotion/admiration felt by the narrator for the woman. Williams in the first stanza gives the reader a ... Before one gets prepared for the day, after waking up, I imagine the curtains pulled and stillness in the house. Here the poet is describing a moment that many of us have shared at one time or another, making his proper word choice essential in not being too specific but at the same time allowing details to filter through. It is the details that connate imagery in the reader, while it is the simplicity that allows for individual interpretation. In the second stanza the poet introduces the woman to the outside world. As she comes to the curb to call the ice man,[and] fish man , she is still not fully clothed as she is, uncorseted, tucking in stray ends of hair. This description tells more about her personality as her attire may help to explain her shyness. It is here where the author compares her to a fallen leaf. This could mean any number of things. A fallen leaf is free from the rest of the tree, whether broken away because of the season s change or from a gust of wind, the leaf has fallen and begins a stage of deterioration, as it is forever severed from the life giving resources of the tree.
