The Nuclear Of Nuclear Power
Albert Tran
Nuclear power is energy that is produced as a result of a nuclear reaction, either one of two types,
fission or fusion. The type that is used is fission because fusion is almost impossible to achieve due
the conditions needed to have the reaction occur. One place where it is known that fusion can take
place is the sun. When one thinks of nuclear power, they think radiation, however not all nuclear
reactions emit radiation. The reason why all nuclear power is radioactive is due to the fact that
radioactive elements, especially uranium, is used because of it is the easiest to produce a nuclear
fission reaction because it is a large element and it is harder to split smaller elements such as oxygen
or fluorine. Nuclear fission was discovered by a team of German researchers at the Kaiser Wilhelm
Institute in Berlin on the eve of World War II.
In today s day and age, nuclear power can be viewed as dangerous and unreliable, but it is the only
source of baseload power of electricity. Baseload power is the amount of energy that is needed to meet
year round demands. Not only does nuclear power create a lot of energy to used, but it also does it
reliably without emitting greenhouse gases, like fossil fuel factories. Because of this, nuclear energy
has one of the lowest environmental impacts on land and natural resources of any electricity source
(1). For example, by the year 2013, nuclear power plants have generated a total of 4,058,209,231
Megawatt hours of energy, which

Essay on Clinical Decision Support System
Abstract Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) apply best known medical knowledge to patient
data for the purpose of generating case specific decision support advice. CDSS forms the cornerstone
of health informatics research and practice. It is an embedded concept in almost all major clinical
information systems and plays an instrumental role in helping health care achieve its ultimate goal:
providing high quality patient care while, at the same time, assuring patient safety and reducing costs.
This computer based systems designed to impact clinician decision making about individual patients

This stream of research eventually developed into a dedicated discipline, Artificial Intelligence in
Medicine (AIM), with wide appeal and broad consensus for optimism. In 1970, Schwartz announced
in the New England Journal of Medicine that clinical computing would likely be commonplace in the
not too distant future. The use of computerized clinical information systems to support hospital
operation as well as clinical activities started to flourish in the early 1990s. Besides the significant
technological breakthroughs, including the availability of enterprise level database management
systems (DBMS) and health data standards such as ICD and HL7, new legislation and advocacy by
federal funding agencies also played a key role. International Statistical Classification of Diseases:

Aladdin a Disney Fairytale
A long, long time ago, in the year of 1992, a very famous Disney Fairytale hit the big screen. Aladdin
is about a young orphan on a fascinating journey to becoming a heroic man. The majority of people
are unaware of the qualifications of a real hero. Many people think the only way to achieve heroism is
by dying for something or someone you love. There are heroes everywhere you look, Disney movies,
fairytales, cartoons, books etc. A hero doesn t have to possess unusual superpowers like, immortality,
time traveling, invisibility, mind control or superhuman strength. In fact, some super heroes possess
nothing more than, love, generosity, kindness, cheer and trust. Sometimes all you need to be a hero is
abandonment at birth, a friend and a will to survive. This is exactly why I chose the Disney character
of Aladdin. This charming story, made famous by Disney takes place in the Middle East. The trials
and tribulations of Aladdin include moments of love, adventure, trickery, and deceit. Aladdin embarks
in this journey unintentionally but proves to have endured a comprehensive maturation of character
while achieving valuable insight about who is truly is and what he stands for by the time he completes
his adventure. When following the journey of a hero you will usually find something on the lines of an
unusual birth, or something unique about the hero s childhood. Aladdin was born to his father, Cassim
and his mother, who is unnamed in the film. Cassim left Aladdin and his mother

Stonemason Research Paper
A stonemason has his own set of tools that he uses to complete any form of stonework. But this does
not mean that Freemasons do not have tools of their own. Just because they do not lay bricks or work
on stone inside their lodges does not mean that they do not need anything else. In fact, aside from the
different Mason regalia used in rituals, there are also tools associated with each degree that a Mason
lands on.
Entered Apprentice
24 inch Gauge
A gauge (or a ruler) is used to measure the hours of each day. At this degree, Masons are taught to
divide their day into three, spending 3 hours on sleep or refreshment, 8 hours on the service of God
and others in need, and 8 hours on work and the usual vocations.

Master Mason
Trowel
The trowel symbolizes the need to spread brotherly love, with the theoretical cement it is spreading
symbolizing the strong unity or bond among brothers.
Pencil
Although the pencil seems to be a common tool in an actual stonemason s job, in Freemasonry, it
symbolizes how God has everything that people do written down. On the judgment day, this list will
be consulted and will be the basis for how one will be judged.
Skirrit
The skirrit, in stonework, is used to draw a perfect line on the ground. In Freemasonry, it is a reminder
to stick to the goal of perfection that the brotherhood has set.
Compass
The compasses are among the most popular symbols of Freemasonry, and also proves to be one of the
most important tools. It reminds Freemasons to know the limits between good and evil based on the
rules of the Great Architect of the Universe.
Seeing how these tools help in every degree of Freemasonry, it is no wonder that they are also among
the most common symbols that appear on important Masonic

Theme Of Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies
I walked into my living room, ready to yell at my father for not lowering the volume of the television.
He sat hypnotized on the couch as he stared at the CNN News headlines popping up on the screen.
Only interested in stories with happy endings, I rolled my eyes at the 100 inch flat screen TV, where
news reporters are constantly arguing with each other, debating the news of terrorist attacks, robberies,
racism, and political corruption. This frequent bickering and arguing suggests that humans are born
evil. Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, constantly brings up this theme of human nature.
Twelve children are stuck on an island, and struggle with the decision to leave behind their morals and
resort to a barbaric lifestyle in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is significant because it is very unexpected for the reader to see twelve innocent boys from
England become barbaric cavemen and succumb to uncivilized tribal dances and murder. Golding
shows in Lord of the Flies that when exposed to lack of authority, sanity and common sense start to
disappear into thin air. The boys constantly bicker with each other instead of collaborating and
listening to everyone s opinions. Initially, they set rules, have certain positions or jobs, and elect a
leader like in a democracy. But as time passes, the boys start to break out of their good stage and
embrace who they really are inside ‒ greedy savages. When Jack becomes violent and unruly, all order
on the island begins to disappear. He abuses people and fights with others like cats and dogs. The
conch, a symbol of power and order, is broken shortly after Piggy s death, which shows the
disappearance of morality and merit. Simon s death and the need for power shows the corrupt nature
of the boys, and thereby exemplifies that they are selfish. Lord of the Flies teaches us the importance
of civilization and sanity, as they can disappear in the absence of authority and order. Hopefully, we
can learn from this novel and try to better ourselves by focusing on the good in society and reporting
about it rather than constantly bickering with

Kelley Outbreak
The Kelly outbreak is a famous phenomenon in Australia s colonial history. Whilst some people prefer
to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians
view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community
and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying
causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic
factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the
Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad
socio economic developments in rural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These changes, he argues, could not fail to produce profound results , one of which was an outbreak of
social banditry 13 . Evidence from the period strongly supports such a view. The region was first
occupied by squatters during the late 1830s and 1840s, and was largely settled by 1847. By 1850,
several villages were established, there were good seasons and high wool prices .... 14 Between 1860
and 1880 several land reform laws were introduced, intended to halt the monopoly of the squatters by
creating a new rural class from the diggers now experiencing diminishing returns on the goldfields.
These laws made available small freeholds of pastoral land for selection by any man or (single)
woman over the age of eighteen.... 15 This effort to make land available to the new rural classes
proved a failure however. The government s and the selectors knowledge of agriculture, shaped by the
European experience, proved largely to be inapplicable to Australia .. 16 In addition, selection was
opposed and obstructed by the squatters who used their superior knowledge of land conditions,
political and financial influence, and evasion of certain regulations of the Land Acts to amass large
holdings of premium land, leaving poorer land to selectors. ... 17 This situation caused hardship and
poverty among selectors, and stock theft became an increasing problem as the selectors sought to
supplement meagre food supplies and income with stock stolen

South Korea s order of preference among the choices are:
1. unification under a democratic system,
2. peaceful unification
3. the status quo,
4. unification under a communist system.
What can be said about these four outcomes as they apply to the Prisoner s Dilemma? First, neither
North nor South Korea sees the status quo as the worst choice. Second, each side sees the opponents
most desired outcome as its worst possible outcome. Third, each side prefers a peaceful unification to
the status quo. And lastly, neither side prefers a peaceful unification to its own best choice. The result
of this is, as in the matrix in Figure 1 the preferred choice is the dominating strategy for both North
(B2 dominating B1) and South (A2 dominating A1). Specifically, North Korea prefers a communist
settlement of unification to either the status quo or a peaceful unification. South Korea prefers a
democratic settlement to either the status que or a peaceful unification. Thus, the dilemma that faces
both sides is: since neither side can have its own best choice, they settle for the status quo. This is
done in spite of the fact that the possibility of a peaceful settlement to unification is exists (a peaceful
unification) that might be better for both sides than their own optimal choice. Neither side can choose
collective interest over self interest because they are forced to assume that the other will follow the

The Glass Castle Analysis
Glass Castle The Glass Castle, is a memoir, written by Jeannette Walls about her life and her families
uncommon way of living. From a young age Walls and her family were always moving around and
stirring up a little trouble wherever they went. The family faces many problems because of the way
they lived including keeping food on the table, an alcoholic father, and a stable living situation. Even
though the family had all these problems, all of the Walls children grew up to do great things in the
world. Although Walls tone changes as she grows older, Walls uses an underlying ironic and humorous
tone through the whole book with the use of diction, detail, and dialogue.
Using vibrant word choice Walls displays an underlying ironic tone. After Walls burns herself at a
young age, she is forced to go to the hospital where a nurse gives her chewing gum for the first time.
When her mom found out about it she said It was a disgusting low class habit (12). At this point in the
story the readers do not know exactly how bad the family s financial situation is, but they do know
that the family is living in a trailer home. In addition, at the start of the book Walls recalled a time
when she watched her mom dig through a trash can,so her saying that chewing gum is disgusting and
a low class habit is ironic and hypocritical considering she digs through the trash. Walls had a great
amount of respect for her dad, and she also looked up to him. Everytime he was mentioned in the book

Pass The Opium, Please Essay
Religion is said to be the opiate of the masses, and it is definitely a point of interest in George Orwell
s famous novel Animal Farm. In it, Orwell pointedly attacks religion in general and Christianity in
particular through the use of a well placed symbolic bird by the name of Moses. Orwell s stance is
rather apparent as Moses darts about the farm scene conveying the duality of Christianity quite
superbly.
At the first mention of the raven Moses, one immediately gets the impression that he stands for
something quite larger than just a simple bird that lives on the Manor Farm. Firstly his name, Moses,
is an obvious biblical reference conveying the idea that he may stand for religion or Christianity. It is
not a subtle point that Orwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his reference to Sugercandy Mountain there is an obvious correlation to the kingdom of heaven in
traditional Christian belief. This reinforces the idea in the reader s mind that Moses is most definitely
standing for Christianity in this story. But so far Orwell has not made any criticisms against
Christianity or religion, he has merely set up the character. The first time we get the idea that Orwell
may be viewing Moses with a critical eye is when he describes the bird as being lazy and unwilling to
do any. All the bird is apparently good for is to lie around all day and warm up to Mr. Jones, all the
while getting special treats and even getting to venture inside the farm house. This is a very deliberate
shot against the Christian religion. Orwell is painting a very critical portrait of Christianity as a tired
and pathetic institution that is no longer living up to the ideals it once so vehemently believed in. But
of course this institution, or Moses, still talks grandly about the kingdom of Sugercandy Mountain and
how all good Russians and animals will go there when they die to live an existence of eternal bliss.
This part of Moses s involvement is basically telling the acutely aware reader a very pointed lesson:
that not all that shines is sure to be gold (or God in this case). The last mention of Moses at his initial
involvement leaves quite an interesting taste

Lovely Bones Analysis
Imagine having dreams, aspirations, goals, and hopes for yourself and the people around you, but then
having it all taken away. Imagine being a young adult and having to find a way to cope with this while
being lost in the in between. Imagine watching your family struggle, yet you are on the sidelines,
unable to help. This is a especially so in The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold. The story follows the
protagonist, Susie, who was raped and murdered by her neighbour. She goes to heaven and watches
her family grow up without her. Her death sends a shock to her family and friends; some taking the
news easily, others having a harder time. Susie experiences several key moments of realization that
assists with her eventually coming of age, such as coping with the fact that she is dead, watching her
family suffer without her, and finally finding a way to reach her own happiness and moulding her own
path.
Susie lives in a world where she is beyond life and must quickly come to the realization that she is no
longer amongst the living and she must cope with this fact. People grow up by living, I said to Franny.
I want to live. That s out, she said to me. Can we at least watch the living? You already do. (Sebold
19) She wants to have the opportunity to grow up like a normal girl, yet she cannot because she is
dead. Susie is not able to detach herself from her previous life. She misses her family to the extent
where she cannot purely accept her death. When the dead are

objective, offering only facts about said album lacking personality, in turn, feeling cold. Listing things

Winning by Jack Welch
Winning by Jack Welch The book Winning by Jack Welch was written in 2004. It is a straight forward
book that goes into all aspects of running a business and becoming a successful leader. The author was
the CEO of General Electric for over 20 years. Welch retired in 2001 and spends his time traveling
around the world giving speeches, answering questions and giving advice about how to be able to run
a successful business. After a couple of years of touring and giving advice he decided to put it down
on paper and wrote the book Winning. Welch takes a look at every level of a business, whether it is a
large or small company, the philosophy and practices should be the same. The book is divided into
four sections. The first section is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The middle 70 must be managed differently and are probably the hardest group to manage. This group
of people is enormously valuable to any company; you simply cannot function without their skills

first section talks about voice and dignity. It makes a point that people should be allowed to express
how they feel about things and not be penalized for it. Some people have better ideas than others;
some are smarter or more experienced or more creative. But everyone should be heard and respected.
(p. 57)
Allowing people to voice their opinion could lead to a great new innovative idea that will be profitable

discusses leadership. Welch has eight rules of what leaders do on page 63 of his book. His eight rules
are:
1. Leaders relentlessly upgrade their team, using every encounter as an opportunity to evaluate, coach

2. Leaders make sure people not only see the vision, they live and breathe it.
3. Leaders get into everyone s skin, exuding positive energy and optimism.

Safe Night Out Aesop
Aesop has written a multitude of sticky stories The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Tortoise and the Hare,
The Wolf in Sheep s Clothing just to name a few. In common, these tales are carefully encoded with
concrete imagery. From the many sticky works that Aesop wrote, the power of vivid and tangible
topics is demonstrated by the mere fact that Aesop s tales have been told for over 2,500 years and are
still prevalent today. The Nature Conservancy (TNC), for example, also capitalized concrete ideas in
order to help protect environmentally precious land by using perceptible words and ideas. Instead of
using directional language to describe an area, they named it Mount Hamilton Wilderness so that
people should definitively identify the location. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, the Velcro Theory of Memory claims that rather than storing memory like a filing cabinet,
like Velcro, remembering things is like the two sides pressing together as the brain hosts a multitude
of loops and hooks. Consider Jane Elliott s explanation of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.
to her third grade classroom. To make the abstract idea of racism concrete, she separated brown eyed
children from blue eyed children, proclaiming that the brown eyed children were superiors. After the
children experienced concrete racism, Elliott switched the roles of two groups and further
demonstrated the concreteness of racism. Altogether, in order for ideas to be sticky, they must be
concrete. As with Stone Yamashita s capitalization of concrete techniques to develop a partnership
with Disney, ideas must be concrete for novices and more complex for experts. Likewise, as with
Kaplan, ideas need to be realistic and fleshed out. In short, like General Mills and the Saddleback
Church s sticky ideas, people are attracted to concrete ideas they just stick better. Heath, C. Heath, D.

The Population Of The Solent Oyster Population
Ostrea edulis populations are in decline worldwide throughout a wide geographical range from
Norway over Morocco to the Black Sea, with current stock level estimates below those made during
the 1800s (Anon, 2007). O. edulis population from the Solent is one of these declining populations
with several collapses during the last century.
The reasons of the last decline in the Solent oyster population from 2006 are still unknown. This
species has constituted an important fishery in the Solent with commercial explotation since 1800 s.
Due to some life characteristics of this species oyster beds are very vulnerable to commercial
exploitation and overfishing (Laing et al., 2005; Orton, 1927c). However, other hypotheses point to
trends in increasing sea temperatures, habitat degradation, chemical and physical pollution.
Recent studies have analysed the current situation on reproductive parameters of O. edulis population
finding a significant reduction in the number of brooding female phase oysters (Eagling, 2012),
reduction on fecundity of brooding oysters and skewed sex ratio towards male phase oyster (Eagling,
2012; Kamphausen, 2011). Athough a number of speculations for this behaviour have been made, the
factors causing this change in sex phase in O. edulis remain unknown.
Hormones controlling the development of secondary sexual organs in molluscs are poorly understood
and more research on this topic is need to clarify the cause of male bias and most recent O. edulis

An Analysis Of Shakespeare s Henry IV
Centralizing a political theme of this whole saga is the consolidation of the country under the authority
of the monarch, fighting with feudal lords, enemies and the deceitful behaviors displayed.
Shakespeare tried to convey truthfully what is proclaimed to be war, and the personalities of others,
but a significant part of the latter consisted polemical writings exposed the machinations of
reactionary feudal lords and kings to chant. Consequently, this primarily explains the fact of what
Shakespeare idealized in Henry IV. Shakespeare described deviations from historical truth, but they
were not conscious of Shakespeare. An exception is the Shakespeare s desire to reduce the duration, to
satiate his events. Reading Henry IV it has endured the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Chou Li And The Huang Ti Nei Ching
Introduction:
To understand Chinese medicines you have know how it all started. During the Shang Dynasty
medicine was not very effective and was based solely on the superstations of priests. The practices
were useless, real medicine did not emerge until the Zhou dynasty came into power. During the time
of the Shang Dynasty there was a high regard for Taoist ways of healing. They would preform rituals
to purge the body of harmful spirits. Early magicians would use rare elements and claim that they
came from the heavens. (Woods Berk)
The beginning of Chinese medicine starts with a myth about two great Emperor who brought life and
prosperity to the earth. Their names were the Red Emperor and the Yellow Emperor. The Yellow
Emperor introduced silk, music, and martial arts while the Red Emperor was the first to cultivate the
five grains, and for doing this he earned the name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The books are called the Chou Li and the Huang Ti Nei or Nei Ching. The Chou Li talks about the
government organization under the Zhou dynasty and the Nei Ching is an ancient Chinese medical
text that is our fundamental source of knowing how Chinese medicine was during the beginnings of
Chinese history. (Freedman Lai)
Theories about the body:
The way the ancient Chinese interpreted the body was quite different from how it is in western society.
The Chinese believe that illness comes from an imbalance in the body, meaning that if you are
spending too much time doing one thing and not the other, your body is imbalanced and that can cause
illness.
(Smith)
Chi (Qi) is a life force and a combination of energy and matter. Chi can also animate and transform
matter. Chi is the basic life force of everything, The Chinese believe that chi flows through your body
and keeps everything in perfect harmony. Having good hygiene will maintain the chi in your body.
Each chi channel is associated with a certain organ. (Smith)

The History Of Canada
The history of Canada spans over hundreds of years. There have been endless defining occasion s in
our country s history that have constructed, and shaped our country. Canada has shaped as a nation
politically, economically and socially through many consequences we have faced and many moments
we have celebrated. Events such as the women s suffrage, Terry Fox s Marathon of Hope, and Stephen
Harper apologizing to aboriginal people regarding what happened with the Residential School System
have had a lasting impact on our country. Their significance to Canadian history is evident through the
impact they have had on many of our citizens. They have played a leading role in carving our history

Subsequent to the year 1919, many doors were opened for Canadian women and they were able to
achieve a greater role in society. A role, in which they still hold today.
Terrance Fox was motivated to make the world a better place. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 1977,
he was determined to make the world aware of this type of cancer and raise money for cancer
research. When Terry was diagnosed, doctors declared that he had less than a 50% chance of survival.
He then was required to have one of his legs amputated. Just three weeks after his surgery, he was
active and joined a wheelchair basketball league. During that time, he read an article about a man
participating in the New York Marathon who was amputated just as he was. Terry decided if he could
run across Canada on one strong leg, he would be able to make people aware of this cancer and raise
money for it. His race began on August 12th 1979. As he endured tough weather conditions
throughout the month of August, word began to spread worldwide. A few weeks after he left his
hometown to begin this magnificent expedition, he reached Toronto. It is estimated on that one day he
raised over 100 million dollars. Terry had every intention to finish his marathon, but physically he
could not. The cancer spread and he was forced to stop just outside of Thunder Bay. Terry passed
away on June 28th, 1981. To this day, he is one of the most influential individuals in the history of

Dark Energy Essay
Dark energy what is it? Dark energy is a unknown energy said to take up 70 percent of the universe.
The energy is a repulsive gravitational effect that is causing the universe to accelerate out ward. No
one knows exactly what dark energy is or where it comes from.
Dark Energy is a new idea. Little is known about dark energy, yet it takes up a huge amount if the

Scientist were able to show the universe was expanding at an accelerated rate by measuring the red

Not until to long ago, there was an inconsistency between the matter in space, the energy in the
universe, and the flatness of space. Scientist studied the cosmic microwave background and a large
scale structure, and they were able to conclude that the energy that keeps space flat is dark energy.
Scientists are still trying to learn more about this mysterious energy. They conduct red shift surveys of
the galaxy clusters; a galaxy cluster is consisted of thousands of galaxies, dark matter, and hot gases,
bound together by gravity.
When scientist conduct a red shift survey, the electrons from the hot gases scatter off the protons and
produce X rays, which weaken with a higher red shift. Once and a while the electrons give some
energy to a photon of the cosmic microwave background, which makes the black body spectrum to
shift causing distortion, called the Sunyaev Zeldovich effect. Comparing the X rays to the Sunyaev
Zeldfovich effect help scientist observe the faintest red shift in clusters.
Various types of dark energy have been thought to be found, one is a cosmic field associated with
inflation, a low energy field called quintessence, and the cosmological constant in its present living
form does not balance gravity in order to keep a static universe, it has a negative pressure that cause
the universe to accelerate.

How Did Peter The Great Attempt To Westernize Russia
Russian During the 18th Century
Leading into the start of Peter the Greats Reign, Russia was beginning to experience change. By the
time that Peter took the throne, Russia s saw a dramatic change that had never seen before. Peter s
experiences from his childhood influenced his reforms and policies as a ruler. His style of leadership
allowed him to make dramatic domestic and foreign changes for Russia. His legacy as ruler had made
it nearly impossible to emulate for his successors. His successors would attempt to make their own
stamp on Russia. However, none of these improvements may have happened without the leadership of
Peter the Great. Peter s reforms and policies would become the backbone of what Russia would

She was the shining light in nearly four decades of disappointing rulers. Her Rise to power after
overthrowing Peter III, she initially reversed all his decrees that he administered in his short reign.
Catherine reestablished the autocratic rule in Russia. She believed that there should be one ruler, even
denying the Senates offer of helping her in her rule. Catherine followed many of the practices that
Peter the Great had done during his time as emperor. For instance, Catherine became the first leader
since Peter to tour the Russian Empire, which became known as the Imperial Tour. Her reason for the
tour was to issue a uniform rule in Russia. One thing Catherine attempted to administer was her
Bolshoi Nakaz otherwise known as The Great Instruction. The Great Instruction was a compilation of
various text that Catherine brought together to set up how law and Russia should be. She went beyond
Peter the Great by maintaining that government should be constrained by certain fundamental
principles (Moss, 270). Unfortunately, this was never administered. Catherine created the Charter of
the Nobility which gave nobility a clear separate title along with complete control over serfs and other

Grasmere And Alfoxden Essay
When analysing Dorothy s Grasmere and Alfoxden journals and William s I Wandered Lonely as a
Cloud it is impossible for the question of the true nature of Dorothy and William s relationship not to
be raised. Despite the fact that William married Mary Hutcherson and then had an affair and a child
with his french lover Annette Vallon, his relationship with his sister seemed to stretch much farther
than simple familial love. In an article in The Guardian entitled Remember Dorothy by James Fenton

However when looking at the Grasmere and Alfoxden journals and Wordsworth s daffodils side by

unjustness that women in the nineteenth century faced due to its reigning patriarchal society. The idea
that no one would ve bat an eyelid has Dorothy claimed the part she played in Wordsworth s poem

The relationship between William Wordsworth s I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud and Dorothy
Wordsworth s Grasmere Journals is undeniably illuminated when both sources are read side by side

The Era Of The Common Man
The Jacksonian period has been regarded as the era of the common man , this characterization only
holds true in regard to politics. Jackson s action in economic development was little different from
when this era began. His view towards reforms were threatening and unwanting. Jackson was
relentless in his strive for presidency. Jackson lost his first presidential run to John Quincy Adams in
1824 despite having the popular and electoral votes. The Jacksonians (supporters of Jackson) called
this event the Corrupt Bargain due to Henry Clay support of Adams after he was out of the race.
Jackson won the following election in 1828, after a war of words were exchanged between supporters
of Jackson and Adams. The Jacksonians accused Adams of being wasteful with money, while Adams
supporters accused Jackson of being a murderer in the war of 1812 and called his wife a bigamist.
These accusations got to Rachel and weeks later she passed. Nonetheless, this was still a victory for
the new Democratic Republicans against the National Republicans. Politically, the age of Jackson was
a triumph for the common man since politics were more open. Before Jackson politics were only
indulged in by aristocrats and elites; With Jackson it was open to all white male citizens. It has also be
noted that before Jackson came into office that there was expansion in voting with Ohio and other new
western states. These new constitutions made older states conform to their laws due to the fear of

Comparing Poe s The Raven And The Persistence Of Memory
Those who cannot stand tall in the face of adversity are often met with the unrelenting touch of grief.
When the power of grief is too strong in certain people, they are left as a shell of their former self.
This feeling of hollowness is apparent in the narrator in Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven after he allows
himself to be encompassed by his insufferable grievances. This continues to a point where he lacks the
ability to distinguish his dreams from reality. This line between dream and reality fades in both Edgar
Allen Poe s The Raven and The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali. The anamorphic,
intentionally distorted, setting of this surreal artwork correlates with the anguished mindset of the
narrator. His anguish fuels his grief giving it the power to trump any other feeling that may arise in
him. The immense grief and disheveled mental state of the narrator in The Raven parallels the imagery
used in The Persistence of Memory in multiple ways. The bizarre surroundings, the barren landscape,
and the grotesque melting clocks each represent a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because the clocks can represent the narrator s extremely weakened emotional state. The feelings that
have become the feeblest are those of positivity and alacrity. In the simplest terms he has been
stripped away of willingness and been exposed to the strongest forms of grief and anguish. Overall,

Freedom Under Hospitable Captivity Essay
The Matrix (Andy and Lana Wachowski, 1999) appeals to a Western ideology of freedom in its most
general sense by depicting a fight against the enslavement of the human race in a post apocalyptic
world controlled by machines. The machines use the humans, whose minds are trapped in a computer
program, as an energy source. In this world of machines, the Wachowskis expand upon the
totalitarianism seen in other works of fiction, such as 1984 by George Orwell. The totalitarian state of
1984, Airstrip One, becomes the whole planet in The Matrix, and the oppressed citizens become
nearly the entire human race. Only a group of rebels escape from the machines by creating a city

proves that he is the One by saving Morpheus and dealing with the agents, the ultimate boon. In the

Smith explode in a guilt free act of violence. A unique feature of the film is that Neo is not presented
with a situation in which to resist temptation. It is unusual that this classic aspect of the Monomyth is

etcetera.2 Thus, the film follows much of the Monomyth but still manages to be unique.

definition of freedom in the context of The Matrix is that of the Western World. The desire for

Tweeting From Courtroom

Using online databases, research the issue of tweeting from court. After learning the pros and con
surrounding the issue, write a 600 word opinion piece arguing either for or against allowing that

tweeting was an issue.
Tweeting from courtroom is a method of reporting that is growing in popularity (Lozare, 2011).
Twitter can facilitate the transfer of information due to its simple interface and its popularity among

Opponents of this issue argued that the possibility of a tweet to go viral might lead to mistrials and
contempt citations ( Reporters live tweeting from court risks mistrials , 2011). This is likely to happen
when journalists cross the line of reporting as they attempt to fit as many information as possible
within a short time frame and limited number of characters.
Considering the focus of this debate, it appears that one of the most important aspects of tweeting
from courtroom is the lack of editorial oversight. (Tweeting from courtrooms, 2012). Although this
situation might benefits the public through the lack of censorship, it has its fair share of shortcomings
too.
An example of the disadvantage of the lack of editorial oversight occurs when disturbing contents,
such as graphic evidence from a crime scene, are presented in the courtroom. Once content is
published on the Internet, it is often difficult to remove it the Internet. With the difficulty to decide on
appropriateness in a matter of seconds, tweeting from courts without editorial oversight might cause
some problems (Tweeting from courtrooms, 2012). For instance, journalists might accidentally tweet
something based on their opinion or prejudice rather than the fact, due to the fact that they have to
type their observation in real time. If this prejudice affects the public opinion, it might harm the trial

  • 2. The Nuclear Of Nuclear Power Albert Tran Nuclear power is energy that is produced as a result of a nuclear reaction, either one of two types, fission or fusion. The type that is used is fission because fusion is almost impossible to achieve due the conditions needed to have the reaction occur. One place where it is known that fusion can take place is the sun. When one thinks of nuclear power, they think radiation, however not all nuclear reactions emit radiation. The reason why all nuclear power is radioactive is due to the fact that radioactive elements, especially uranium, is used because of it is the easiest to produce a nuclear fission reaction because it is a large element and it is harder to split smaller elements such as oxygen or fluorine. Nuclear fission was discovered by a team of German researchers at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute in Berlin on the eve of World War II. In today s day and age, nuclear power can be viewed as dangerous and unreliable, but it is the only source of baseload power of electricity. Baseload power is the amount of energy that is needed to meet year round demands. Not only does nuclear power create a lot of energy to used, but it also does it reliably without emitting greenhouse gases, like fossil fuel factories. Because of this, nuclear energy has one of the lowest environmental impacts on land and natural resources of any electricity source (1). For example, by the year 2013, nuclear power plants have generated a total of 4,058,209,231 Megawatt hours of energy, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Clinical Decision Support System Abstract Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) apply best known medical knowledge to patient data for the purpose of generating case specific decision support advice. CDSS forms the cornerstone of health informatics research and practice. The use of computerized clinical information systems to support hospital operation as well as clinical activities started to flourish in the early 1990s. • 5. Aladdin a Disney Fairytale A long, long time ago, in the year of 1992, a very famous Disney Fairytale hit the big screen. Aladdin is about a young orphan on a fascinating journey to becoming a heroic man. The majority of people are unaware of the qualifications of a real hero. Many people think the only way to achieve heroism is by dying for something or someone you love. There are heroes everywhere you look, Disney movies, fairytales, cartoons, books etc. A hero doesn t have to possess unusual superpowers like, immortality, time traveling, invisibility, mind control or superhuman strength. In fact, some super heroes possess nothing more than, love, generosity, kindness, cheer and trust. Sometimes all you need to be a hero is abandonment at birth, a friend and a will to survive. This is exactly why I chose the Disney character of Aladdin. This charming story, made famous by Disney takes place in the Middle East. The trials and tribulations of Aladdin include moments of love, adventure, trickery, and deceit. Aladdin embarks in this journey unintentionally but proves to have endured a comprehensive maturation of character while achieving valuable insight about who is truly is and what he stands for by the time he completes his adventure. When following the journey of a hero you will usually find something on the lines of an unusual birth, or something unique about the hero s childhood. Aladdin was born to his father, Cassim and his mother, who is unnamed in the film. Cassim left Aladdin and his mother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Theme Of Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies I walked into my living room, ready to yell at my father for not lowering the volume of the television. He sat hypnotized on the couch as he stared at the CNN News headlines popping up on the screen. Only interested in stories with happy endings, I rolled my eyes at the 100 inch flat screen TV, where news reporters are constantly arguing with each other, debating the news of terrorist attacks, robberies, racism, and political corruption. This frequent bickering and arguing suggests that humans are born evil. Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, constantly brings up this theme of human nature. Twelve children are stuck on an island, and struggle with the decision to leave behind their morals and resort to a barbaric lifestyle in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is significant because it is very unexpected for the reader to see twelve innocent boys from England become barbaric cavemen and succumb to uncivilized tribal dances and murder. Golding shows in Lord of the Flies that when exposed to lack of authority, sanity and common sense start to disappear into thin air. The boys constantly bicker with each other instead of collaborating and listening to everyone s opinions. Initially, they set rules, have certain positions or jobs, and elect a leader like in a democracy. But as time passes, the boys start to break out of their good stage and embrace who they really are inside ‒ greedy savages. When Jack becomes violent and unruly, all order on the island begins to disappear. He abuses people and fights with others like cats and dogs. The conch, a symbol of power and order, is broken shortly after Piggy s death, which shows the disappearance of morality and merit. Simon s death and the need for power shows the corrupt nature of the boys, and thereby exemplifies that they are selfish. Lord of the Flies teaches us the importance of civilization and sanity, as they can disappear in the absence of authority and order. Hopefully, we can learn from this novel and try to better ourselves by focusing on the good in society and reporting about it rather than constantly bickering with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whilst some people prefer to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad socio economic developments in rural ... Evidence from the period strongly supports such a view. The region was first occupied by squatters during the late 1830s and 1840s, and was largely settled by 1847. By 1850, several villages were established, there were good seasons and high wool prices .... 14 Between 1860 and 1880 several land reform laws were introduced, intended to halt the monopoly of the squatters by creating a new rural class from the diggers now experiencing diminishing returns on the goldfields. South Korea s order of preference among the choices are: 1. unification under a democratic system, 2. peaceful unification 3. the status quo, 4. unification under a communist system. What can be said about these four outcomes as they apply to the Prisoner s Dilemma? First, neither North nor South Korea sees the status quo as the worst choice. Second, each side sees the opponents most desired outcome as its worst possible outcome. Third, each side prefers a peaceful unification to the status quo. And lastly, neither side prefers a peaceful unification to its own best choice. The result of this is, as in the matrix in Figure 1 the preferred choice is the dominating strategy for both North (B2 dominating B1) and South (A2 dominating A1). • 12. The Glass Castle Analysis Glass Castle The Glass Castle, is a memoir, written by Jeannette Walls about her life and her families uncommon way of living. From a young age Walls and her family were always moving around and stirring up a little trouble wherever they went. The family faces many problems because of the way they lived including keeping food on the table, an alcoholic father, and a stable living situation. Even though the family had all these problems, all of the Walls children grew up to do great things in the world. Although Walls tone changes as she grows older, Walls uses an underlying ironic and humorous tone through the whole book with the use of diction, detail, and dialogue. Using vibrant word choice Walls displays an underlying ironic tone. After Walls burns herself at a young age, she is forced to go to the hospital where a nurse gives her chewing gum for the first time. When her mom found out about it she said It was a disgusting low class habit (12). At this point in the story the readers do not know exactly how bad the family s financial situation is, but they do know that the family is living in a trailer home. In addition, at the start of the book Walls recalled a time when she watched her mom dig through a trash can,so her saying that chewing gum is disgusting and a low class habit is ironic and hypocritical considering she digs through the trash. Walls had a great amount of respect for her dad, and she also looked up to him. Everytime he was mentioned in the book ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Pass The Opium, Please Essay Religion is said to be the opiate of the masses, and it is definitely a point of interest in George Orwell s famous novel Animal Farm. In it, Orwell pointedly attacks religion in general and Christianity in particular through the use of a well placed symbolic bird by the name of Moses. Orwell s stance is rather apparent as Moses darts about the farm scene conveying the duality of Christianity quite superbly. At the first mention of the raven Moses, one immediately gets the impression that he stands for something quite larger than just a simple bird that lives on the Manor Farm. Firstly his name, Moses, is an obvious biblical reference conveying the idea that he may stand for religion or Christianity. It is not a subtle point that Orwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his reference to Sugercandy Mountain there is an obvious correlation to the kingdom of heaven in traditional Christian belief. This reinforces the idea in the reader s mind that Moses is most definitely standing for Christianity in this story. But so far Orwell has not made any criticisms against Christianity or religion, he has merely set up the character. The first time we get the idea that Orwell may be viewing Moses with a critical eye is when he describes the bird as being lazy and unwilling to do any. All the bird is apparently good for is to lie around all day and warm up to Mr. Jones, all the while getting special treats and even getting to venture inside the farm house. This is a very deliberate shot against the Christian religion. Orwell is painting a very critical portrait of Christianity as a tired and pathetic institution that is no longer living up to the ideals it once so vehemently believed in. But of course this institution, or Moses, still talks grandly about the kingdom of Sugercandy Mountain and how all good Russians and animals will go there when they die to live an existence of eternal bliss. This part of Moses s involvement is basically telling the acutely aware reader a very pointed lesson: that not all that shines is sure to be gold (or God in this case). The last mention of Moses at his initial involvement leaves quite an interesting taste ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagine being a young adult and having to find a way to cope with this while being lost in the in between. Imagine watching your family struggle, yet you are on the sidelines, unable to help. This is a especially so in The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold. The story follows the protagonist, Susie, who was raped and murdered by her neighbour. She goes to heaven and watches her family grow up without her. Her death sends a shock to her family and friends; some taking the news easily, others having a harder time. Susie experiences several key moments of realization that assists with her eventually coming of age, such as coping with the fact that she is dead, watching her family suffer without her, and finally finding a way to reach her own happiness and moulding her own path. Susie lives in a world where she is beyond life and must quickly come to the realization that she is no longer amongst the living and she must cope with this fact. People grow up by living, I said to Franny. I want to live. That s out, she said to me. Can we at least watch the living? You already do. • 15. Sugar Hill Gang Rapper s Delight The first item I searched was a popular hip hop album Sugar Hill Gang Rapper s Delight. I immediately noticed John Fryer had a more subjective way to selling this item. In the description, he mentions where he purchased the record. Memories he had as a kid listening to SU radio station during the early 80 s and the emotion it provoked. On the other hand, the eBay description was very objective, offering only facts about said album lacking personality, in turn, feeling cold. The Population Of The Solent Oyster Population Ostrea edulis populations are in decline worldwide throughout a wide geographical range from Norway over Morocco to the Black Sea, with current stock level estimates below those made during the 1800s (Anon, 2007). O. edulis population from the Solent is one of these declining populations with several collapses during the last century. The reasons of the last decline in the Solent oyster population from 2006 are still unknown. This species has constituted an important fishery in the Solent with commercial explotation since 1800 s. Due to some life characteristics of this species oyster beds are very vulnerable to commercial exploitation and overfishing (Laing et al., 2005; Orton, 1927c). However, other hypotheses point to trends in increasing sea temperatures, habitat degradation, chemical and physical pollution. Recent studies have analysed the current situation on reproductive parameters of O. edulis population finding a significant reduction in the number of brooding female phase oysters (Eagling, 2012), reduction on fecundity of brooding oysters and skewed sex ratio towards male phase oyster (Eagling, 2012; Kamphausen, 2011). Athough a number of speculations for this behaviour have been made, the factors causing this change in sex phase in O. edulis remain unknown. Scientists are still trying to learn more about this mysterious energy. They conduct red shift surveys of the galaxy clusters; a galaxy cluster is consisted of thousands of galaxies, dark matter, and hot gases, bound together by gravity. When scientist conduct a red shift survey, the electrons from the hot gases scatter off the protons and produce X rays, which weaken with a higher red shift.
