Beaten by a Hair
Introduction
The case I chose to write on is based on a DVD that we watched in class called Beaten by a hair .
In this case, a woman was reported missing after she went to work and never returned home.
After the police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to
the missing pillow case in the woman s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on
their hands. A mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the
woman leave through the front door of her house but the evidence says different, so investigators
had to find out who left the house that morning. I am interested in this case because it was very
intriguing how the forensic officers put all the pieces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
294). This means even after a week the blood has been cleaned up, luminol can still detect it. Also
after applying luminol, the area needs to be darkened so that blue glow can be emitted. The iron
from the hemoglobin in the blood causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the
solution is sprayed where there is blood. Only a tiny amount of iron is required to catalyze the
reaction (Helmenstine, 2012). The use of luminol revealed that there were blood stains on the bed
sheets and suspected that the woman was killed in her bedroom and that she did not go to work
that day or leave the house.
Upon further analysis of the woman s bedroom, the forensic officers used a chemical called
amido black. Amido black is a protein dye that is sensitive to the protein in blood and when it
makes contact stains a latent blue black colour. It is used for revealing fingerprints, trace
evidence, and fibers that may be in the crime scene. This technique was not useful for the
officers because they could not find any prints or evidence. The forensic officers also performed
an ultraviolet light test which was used to reveal trace evidence such as vaginal fluid, urine,
semen, or saliva. The ultraviolet test is usually done before using chemicals such as luminol to see
if there are any fibers to be found and used first. However the officers were not able to find
anything, but this method was useful to them because they could not find any evidence to prove that

Herman Miller Case Study Essay
Case Six: Southwest Airlines
Introduction
Herman Miller has a deep rooted history as a quality manufacturer of office furniture. The
company has been recognized on Fortune s Most Admired Companies, and 100 Best Companies
to Word For lists, as well as Fast Company s Most Innovative Companies list (Shipper, Manz,
Adams, Manz, 2011). Due to the company s innate ability to reinvent itself, Herman Miller has
been able to stay relevant through the years despite the great depression and several recessions over
the years (Shipper et al., 2011). With the right planning Herman Miller will continue its tradition of
innovation well into the future.

a founding partner of the U.S. Green Building Council and the Tropical Forest Foundation

values that are important to the Herman Miller culture. (See Exhibit 1.) Each member of the
Herman Miller organization recognizes these core values and are held to these standards from
plant worker to board member (Shipper et al., 2011). Herman Miller saw tough times in the

thereafter, the events of September 11th, 2001 caused sales to continue to decrease (Shipper et

Soccer Influence On American Culture
Stated by Foer, Soccer isn t the same as Bach or Buddhism. But it is often more deeply felt than
religion, and just as much a part of the community s fabric, a repository of tradition. (How 1).
Soccer is an influential sport which is more often than not taken more serious throughout the world
than in the United States. Within the region of Europe soccer has influenced the people in varying
ways, such as changing their perspective on immigration of foreigners. This change of perspective
is due to the different characteristics portrayed from soccer that can move a whole nation or one as
an individual. The migration tolerance of different nations can be influenced immensely by soccer
specifically, through WorldCup play of France s international team, propaganda images and personal
encounters.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for my mentor Iain Langstone he was given the opportunity to come the United States from
England to play soccer at the collegiate level. Comparably to the opinions heard by the French
players as foreigners, Iain also heard stuff said about him however it was not negative. The
effects of the opinions were rather positive giving him confidence in himself and his play as a
soccer player. Due to his acceptance from others. Although the opinions of France and Iain s
soccer team were not remotely close this shows how one can personally be affected by others
opinion in soccer. The game of soccer can open the door for endless opportunities. As for Iain,
without the chance of coming to United States on a soccer scholarship his life would be
drastically different than it is today. After his time spent in the United States he was open to the
job of becoming a coach at youth premier levels, an assistant coach for UNC Pembroke and a
rehab tech at Fayetteville Orthopedics. These jobs serve as a stepping stone to his major goal of
becoming a full time collegiate

War As A Fundamental Way Of War
Since the beginning of time, humanity has resorted to war as a fundamental way to settle their
differences. Clausewitz described war as the act of force to compel the enemy to do our will. Sun
Tzu believed the purpose of war was to subdue the enemy without fighting. Regardless of the
definition, every culture has its motives for why it goes to warand how it should be conducted.
Nation states go to war to gain access to new territories and resources, settle religious differences,
and defend against a threat or for no other reason than to impose their will on the enemy. To deter
war nation states have used diplomatic means to settle their differences, but when that fails, war
follows.
When war is declared, the victory goes to the force who can inflict the most casualties at the
decisive point. However, in Western culture, there were other contributing factors to claiming
victory. The capability of European states to dominate the battlefield was due to their application
of the principles of the Western way of war. The Western way of war was built on five principles;
the reliance on superior technology, discipline, and training, the means to finance wars, challenge
and response and Western militarytraditions. This essay examines how three principles disciplined
soldiers, superior technology, and the financial means to fund armies shaped conflicts throughout
western civilization. Disciplined soldiers have always been the center of any military strategy

Essay On Being A Stage Manager
Next on my list was a regional stage manager, Ruth Kramer. Ruth is based out of New York,
however her last job was in Pittsburgh. As of right now Ruth is between adventures as she so
cheerfully put it. However, the last show she worked on was Equus. Equus was a big show, and
the hardest part was keeping the actors safe. The men played horses, so they had horse masks
and hooves which made it difficult to see and walk around on stage. As for Ruth, the hardest part
was learning the text and material, because this show was about psychology so she had to
research to fully understand the production. Besides that, she said that everything else went well
during the show. However, her director decided to leave for a week instead of the 2 days... Show

The longest she has been without work will be 4 months, which would be from this November

committees she does not need a retail job while she is between jobs. She thinks if you cannot go
a few weeks or even months with our having a job than this is not a business you should be in.
Ruth s advice simply boiled down to you have to absolutely love it if you want to do it. She said
this, there is influx of stage managers and an outflow of jobs . If you find out when you start
you are not good, do not do this as your job. And lastly if you choose to do this you have to be
able to want to stage manage anything. After talking to Ruth, it was put into perspective that I
cannot have any doubts about being a stage manager. My last interview was with a Halloween
Horror Nights stage manager, Madalyn Musser. Madalyn was an assistant stage manager on the
Bill and Ted Show at Halloween Horror Nights this past season. She also oversees certain
sections of entertainment for holiday events at Universal. She said the hardest part of working at
Universal as a whole is the politics. The environment is very competitive, you always have to do
your best to be put on another event. The easiest part is making great connections, because the

The Mexican American Invasion
Americans know it as the Mexican War, but the people of Mexico know it by a different name.
The U.S. Invasion. The borders of America after the Louisiana Purchase was finalized, went from
what is now Oregon s eastern border all the way to the very northern tip of Texas and into
Louisiana. But President Polk still wanted more land, so in 1836 when Texaswon its independence
from Mexicothey scrambled to get the new republic annexed into the U.S. This caused problems
with Mexico because when Texas signed the treaty with the U.S they, the Americans, were
convinced the border was the Rio Grande. The Mexicans, on the other hand, thought it was the
Nueces River. But the war became unavoidable once armed American soldiers crossed into Mexico.

This land that the Americans were fighting for was originally Mexico s land. However, when
Texas had declared its independence in 1836 America saw a chance to gain more land and hurriedly
tried to convince them to join the United States. It was only then when Texas joined the U.S did
they have border problems. This is because President Polk was power hungry and what shows
power more than how much land a country has? And even though the land did not belong to
them, nor did it Texas they still tried to claim it as theirs. Polk says I had ordered an efficient
military force to take a position between the Nueces and the [Rio Grande] This had become
necessary to meet a threatened invasion of Texas [because of] the Mexican force... threatened
[Americans] solely because Texas has determined... to annex herself to our Union...it was plainly
our duty to extend our protection over her citizens and soil. (Doc B) What Polk failed to take
into consideration is that by mobilizing his armies and sending them into the disputed land
Mexico had also claimed as theirs that it could be viewed as an invasion of their lands or an act
of war. Mexico thought they were invading and merely reacted to the fact that they had soldiers
from a country they were having conversations with. This whole battle that is responsible for
starting the war could have been avoided if the

The Conceptual-Theoretical-Empirical (CTE)
Introduction The Conceptual Theoretical Empirical (CTE) structure for this evidence based project
(EBP) highlights the importance of self management from a self regulation and health promotion
standpoint. The conceptual component of the CTE framework for this EBP refers to a set of
relatively abstract ideas that address the phenomenon of clinical interest to the project as well as to
the discipline of nursing. The concept of interest for this EBP is self management (SM).
Improvements in self management (SM) as a result of an evidence based depression care
management intervention will be assessed. The theoretical structure is utilized to provide
propositions that narrow down and describe the concept in relatively concrete and specific terms...

What Makes A Good President
In order to have a successful and radiant country, we need to have a president that the United
States people will adore. The president is someone who makes all the important decision topics
like school funds, the military, and decide whether laws get put into motion. There are already
certain requirements that a president must be before becoming a candidate, for example, a
president must be at least thirty five years old and have been born in the US. I would want the
president of the United Statesto be a loyal, honest, and fair person to ever member of our country
whether they are lower, middle, or higher class.
One very important trait for the president is bravery. A brave president will be willing to fight for
our country when we are under attack from an enemy. If a country declares war on the US then
our president should be intelligent, brave, and have the right mind set on how to defeat the enemy.
A president will have countless times of disapproval from residents of our country; however, he/she
must be brave enough to stand tall about their idea that they feel is best for us and our future. ...

Carl Rogers And Psychodynamic Research
It is inevitable that in psychotherapy there are numerous theories. Theories arise out of scholarly
investigations of ideas on human behavior. Human behavior is an extraordinarily interesting subject
and therefore produces a plethora of ideas from a variety of theorists. These theorists are influenced
by their education, culture, and time period. One influential theorist is Carl Rogers. His
contributions to human behavior have changed many of the theories that preceded him, and his
theory contributed to many theories that followed. I want to explore Client/Person Centered Therapy

Thus, the client would have to be categorized with the assumption that he has experienced in his
past severed free and open communication with his peers . This would mean that a client with clear
and reciprocated communication with her loved ones would not find use in Client Centered
Therapy. According to Truscott (2010), our efforts to feel good about ourselves we tend to try to
incorporate others expectations― thereby denying our true selves and adopting instead a
conditional self― resulting in feelings of disorganization and emotional pain. If, on the other
hand, we experience genuineness, nonjudgmental caring, and empathy in our relationships with
others, then we can achieve our potential as persons (p.70 71). Thus, a client with emotional support
can manage his feelings easier then someone without any emotional support. This still leaves the
client with emotional support with the expectation that she should not have any difficulty with
expressing her emotions. It is apparent that Rogers main goal was to create an environment for the
client in which he will eventually be able to independently understand and express his feelings.
Truscott (2010) reported according to the person centered, humanistic worldview that,
When we are fully functioning we are then able to make healthy decisions and set goals for
ourselves that

Now, let us note that there are 3 machines, thus giving us a total of 2,880 units. In addition, the
Boring represents a 25 reject rate, giving us 58 in units. Nevertheless, if we subtract 2,880 units
produced by all three machines from 58 units, then we will get a new total of 2,822 units.
The Drilling Capacity
The following includes, the Drilling Capacity, which has a run time of 2.5 minutes per piece.
Therefore, this produces a total of 384 units per machine, giving us a total of 960 minutes. In
addition, providing that there are a total of 6 machines, thus giving us a total of 2,304 units.
Moving forward, giving that we know that Drilling has a 75 reject rate, and thus providing us with
a total of 162 units. Nevertheless, if we subtract the total amount of units produced from all 6
machines of 2,304 units with the 162 units, this will provide us with a new total of 2,142 units.
The System Capacity In order to find the capacity system, we are able to take the lowest number
in units, of course after the reject rate, which for this case is produced by the grinding with 2,128
units. Therefore, because we are unable to produce more units due to reaching the capacity mark, or
for no more product to be allowed through in the completed cycle. Thus, the capacity system turns
out to be 2,128 units. Capacity utilization and machine scheduling also reflect tactical

Tragedies While Climbing Mount Everest Are Caused by Human Error
Especially in terrible weather, every second counts while nearing the top of Mount Everest on an
expedition. A step in the wrong place or a rope hooked to the wrong crag may send a climber
falling thousands of feet into a deep crevasse. Turning an oxygen level the wrong way may leave
the air non breathable to a climber after a few short minutes. These errors happen every season on
Everest, no matter what the conditions are. Whether errors in judgement or just simple mistakes,
accidents on Mount Everest are caused by human error.
During pushes up the mountain, it is easy for climbers to make subtle decisions that may have
grave consequences later on the hike. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other physical errors involved the precious resource of oxygen atop the mountain. In one instance,
guide Andy Harris refused to believe that a portion of the oxygen canisters stored at the South
Summit contained oxygen, often reporting There s no oxygen here! (qtd. in ITA, 195) After
research and tests other climbers deduced that there was in fact a supply of oxygen just below
the top of the mountain where Harris stood. The misunderstanding by Harris was likely caused
by a faulty oxygen register, but his unwillingness to believe his own tests were wrong confused
many struggling climbers. Harris caused additional trouble while descending the mountain; he
turned Jon Krakauer s oxygen level in the wrong direction on his tank. This caused Krakauer to
have a sudden surge of pure oxygen followed by his canister running out of the gas. The mistakes
by Harris and Krakauer caused Krakauer s schedule of receiving oxygen to be thrown off balance,
causing his descent to be severely tougher than expected.
Climbers neglect of their own physical limitations also caused grief during the climb and descent.
The harsh winds and temperatures of the high altitudes unexpectedly tortured Beck Weathers, who
had undergone eye surgery months before the climb. The conditions caused Beck to lose almost all
of his vision, which obviously impacted his attempt at descending the mountain. If Beck had taken
precautions to

Argumentative Essay On Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality is a widely debated topic that comes with not only great support but also logical
opposition. While looking at net neutrality you must consider several ideas that impact the topic.
Before looking at any ideas though, you must first understand what net neutrality is. First, it is an
abbreviation of network neutralitywhich is the idea, principle, or requirement that Internet service
providers should or must treat all Internet data as the same regardless of its kind, source, or
destination as stated by the Merriam Webster Dictionary. A few of those ideas previously
mentioned are how will the consumers, economy, internet service providers, content providers, and
others be impacted by having net neutrality or taking away net neutrality. Appealing net neutrality
and how it would occur is another very large topic. How difficult that would be is very important.
Net neutrality is a subject that has so many influential factors that it is hard to come to a single
right answer, and that is why the thorough research of this issue is so greatly needed.
Net Neutrality is an argument that has been highly debated for years, but in the past several months
it has come back contentious as ever. To give a bit of background, you should know that the FCC is
an acronym for the Federal Communications Commission. It is a government committee that

David Monet
The first painting that I found to be interesting was The Cliff, Etretat, Sunset. The painting was
created by Claude Monet. Monet painted this in 1882 1883. It is oil on canvas and the picture
plane is 23 13/16 inches by 32 3/16 inches. This original of this painting can be found in the
European art collection at the North Carolina Museum of Art. The paintingcan be categorized with
the other European art works because it was painted in Normandy, France. It can also be
categorized as European art because Monet is French. While The Cliff, Etretat, Sunset can be
classified as European art, it can also be categorized as impressionist style art. The formal
theorists would state that the brushstrokes of this naturalistic painting were rushed and loose, but
still smooth. This painting is a combination of a lot of colors. It has a blue sky, with shades of
yellow and green lighting it up, white clouds litter the sky. Light shades of pink and purple are
painted at the horizon line, as well as a small circle of orange which sits directly on the horizon
line. The small circle of orange represents the sun, it is set on the right side of the painting and
compared to the cliff the scale of the sun is miniscule, which makes it seem like it is set further
back. The cliff itself is a combination of curved lines. The different shades of blue and the hues of
brown that can be found in the cliff creates a sharp contrast to... Show more content on

It catches the eye and the colors all blend together to create a peaceful moment of nature. When I
look at this work of art I am taken to a beautiful beach off the coast of some little quaint French

me feel at peace, content, and happy. It portrays a naturalistic and impressionist style that, while it
is not realistic, is able to communicate the beauty and uniqueness of nature, making the piece feel

To Kill A Mockingbird Symbolism Essay
In Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, the fire in chapter 8 symbolizes a form of prejudice
as it burns down the snowman. A lot of the symbolism in this book stems from the prejudice taking
place against the black population in Indiana. Some of this is issued when it snows for the first time
since 1885. The children make a snowman out of leftover snow and some dirt. This represents the
teamwork between the Finch family and the black community. The snow brings out the innocence
of children.
During chapter 8 of To Kill a Mockingbird, Maycomb has had the coldest winter since 1885. Since
it hasn t snowed in over 45 years, people all around are confused and excited. Scout and Jem
decide to go outside and they make a snowman out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Scout and Jem know that it isn t right what happened to Tom, and it shows how innocent the two
are and how they couldn t do anything to stop it, just like the house fire.
The fire burning down the snow represents the rare occurrences that are going on in Maycomb
during this year. One of the major events is the snow that hasn t been seen since 1885, which
astonishes all of Maycomb, especially Scout and Jem. On page 86, Scout says, Next morning I
awoke, looked out the window and nearly died of fright. My screams brought Atticus from his
bathroom half shaven. With the snow appearing in the town, temperatures drop to an all time low,
with everyone on the block leaving their fireplaces open to warm their house. The fireplace
catches on fire in Miss Maudie s house, starting the fire. The fire eventually spread to different
houses, lighting up the whole street. Fire trucks came in from different towns, because of the
intensity. People from the neighborhood came in to get all of the furniture out. The children marvel
at the glowing flames. They realize that this doesn t happen very often. When do house fires occur
during the winter? Another rare thing to happen is the trial lasting so long. During this time, almost
every case involving a black person would result in them being guilty, whether they really were
innocent or not. The prejudice was so severe that when the trial

Essay On Loss Of Innocence
When many people think of children, they think of their innocence. Now imagine those same
children getting their innocence ripped from them. At what point in that situation, did you think
that those kids deserved it, that they were the cause of the problem? That is exactly what is
currently happening to childsoldiers. Those who think that they are the villains are not only
drastically uneducated on the situation, but are also ignorant to the facts. This is most likely due
to the fact that they are not in an area where this is occurring, which means they couldn t possibly
fathom what the kids are experiencing. To deny these children of amnesty for crimes they were
forced to commit is beyond cruel. These children are being brainwashed into... Show more content

So to put blame on them, while others are at fault, is beyond unreasonable, it could be
considered borderline barbaric. Especially since child soldiers are trying to escape their horrible
lives and the things that they were forced to do. To deny these children the chance of safety and
freedom is not only a awful thing to do, but is also furthering the problem and the likelihood of
their deaths. People everywhere are often given chances to redeem themselves, so why would
these children not get the same treatment? In the world today, kids play role playing games with
violence. But when children are involuntarily performing actual acts of violence they are the
ones who are blamed. To further prove this point, Armed and Underage explains the situation of
child soldiers in Africa and how the U.S. is involved, Because the U.S. is helping to pay Somali
soldiers, it is possible that the money for some child soldiers may have come from American
taxpayers. In other words, if the U.S. is knowingly paying child soldiers to do their bidding, then
why is there such controversy over whether or not they should be given

The explorers that partook in the great challenge of discovering what is now Canada, is a

areas of discovery, First Nation contact, and life longevity and cause of death. Within the

Although, Hudson s whereabouts before 1607 are unknown, historians can still analysis the life
events during the known time of Hudson existence. Between 1607 and the year Hudson died, 1611,
Bumsted identifies three major event. The first of these events occurred in 1608 when Quebec
gained the resident buildings by Samuel de Champlin. Champlin established a new trading post on
the St. Lawrence and during the first year of building the new habitations, it went under attack.
Fortunately, the post lasted and in the progress, Champlin associated with the First Nations;
however, this led the French into violence against the Iroquois. During the same year, the outline of
the arrangement to colonize New France started. Second, in Newfoundland, the first English
incomers settled in Newfoundland in 1610. The arrival of the Europeans impacted the First Nations
people greatly. The impact that the diseases, such as measles, smallpox, typus, and typiod, altered
the lives of the First Nations people; Before the Europeans brought these disease to the continent of
what is now Canada, the First Nations people were not immune to them and it caused tremendous
damage to their communities. And finally, Frobisher s voyage to the Northwest Passage inspired
the great explorer, Henry Hudson. Within Bumsted, it mentions that Hudson was hired to explore
the passage to Asia and in the progress he ended entering the Hudson Bay. Bumsted also mentions
that the exploration that Hudson sailed was exceptional and it his search was a best known voyage
In comparison to Bumsted, Henry Hudson s biography references that he missed no prospect of
landmarks on Quebec and the Diggs Island into the Hudson Bay itself. The biography mentions that
Hudson succeeded in setting the further north record on his voyage, but the search for the
Northeast Passage was not successful. Furthermore, when studying the biography of Henry

Underestimated Due With An Inadequate Surveillance System
underestimated due to an inadequate surveillance system. Though this was partially a result of
basic failures of the surveillance system (such as a lack of timely reporting and a lack of
laboratory confirmation or serotyping), it was also due to a lack of economic interest. In the 1990s,
increases in tourism (driven by cruise ship lines, etc.) stimulated interest in identifying and
preventing outbreaks, which could be bad publicity and thus economically devastating. Likewise,
although Ebolahemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s,
only recently has the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC, Outbreaks,
2014). A lack of mobility in the impoverished rural areas typically affected by... Show more content

As a result of this, American economic stimulation in the Caribbean demanded surveillance
increases; the possibility of travel by EHF victims/contacts from West Africa caused hysteria in the
Western world and stimulated intervention from world and American health care authorities.
2.A case study outline for salmonellosis involves the identification of the source and the
surveillance of the disease. Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective case control study)
to determine risk factor and more. Data is collected and assessed to aid officials in introducing
measures to prevent the spread and correct the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg
handling to improper farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly.
EHF has its origins in the jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is found, all
contacts must be identified. Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is more human centric. A
case control study would be the practical study design, as it is less intensive and less expensive.
Treating EHF requires a large amount of money and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In
contrast, individuals with salmonellosis require adequate fluids to heal and little else. A
salmonellosis outbreak would have a case study outline very similar to that of a norovirus outbreak.
One major difference is person to person transmission is possible with norovirus but not

the author demonstrates how tea vessels evolve into cultural artifacts, embodying values and
carrying tradition with them: It s a great waste not to use Shino for tea. You can t bring out the

I sometimes look at it now that she is dead, and there does seem to be a sort of flush in one place
(Kawabata 93). Mrs. Ota s lipstick that has tainted the Shino not only represents the unique story
behind this individual tea vessel, but also shows how Mrs. Ota herself has imprinted the tea vessel.
Metaphorically, the characters actions intrinsically impact her daughter s life. After Mrs. Ota dies,
Fumiko inherits not only the tea vessel but also the wreckage of her complex relationship with
Kikuji. As a result, Fumiko cannot escape the past and is left feeling resentful towards her deceased
mother. Similarly, Kikuji s obsession and bizarre relationships with his father s former mistresses,
underscore the impact of his father s life on his own. In both cases the legacies of their parents
impact not only their emotions, but also their actions and choices. It is in this manner that the
author successfully uses the tea ceremony not only as a metaphor for the continuity tradition, but
also to convey the nature of intergenerational

Essay On Nursing Home Neglect
Most people dread nursing homes because it conjures up all types of negative images.
Unfortunately, many of the stories that we hear are true. Despite all the attention this issue has
received recently, neglect in nursing homes continues at an alarming rate. A large majority of
nursing home residents report some type of neglectevery year. Tragically, only a few come to light
as most seniors either do not have the ability to communicate or are simply too afraid to speak up.
There are different types of nursing home neglect some of which include:
1.Medical neglect: This is said to occur when the nursing facility fails to meet or address the basic
medical concerns of the senior resident. For example, if the patient is diabetic, their blood sugar
level needs to be checked frequently. If this is not done, there is a risk that the patient may go into a
coma. Similarly, if a resident presents with symptoms of vomiting, severe abdominal pain, fever,
and diarrhea, it is important to take this condition seriously and to transfer the patient to the nearest.
If the staff does not monitor or cater to these medical situations, they are neglecting the patients.
2.Failure to meet basic living needs: Some nursing homes fail to meet the basic living needs of
the resident. For example, the resident is left in bed with soiled diapers for several days or is not
provided with an adequate amount of food or water, this type of treatment is against basic
humanity. There are also cases where

his form of poverty in the opposite way of Raskolnikov towards society. The weight of being

Raskolnikov begins to alienate himself from his ex colleague, Razumikhin, although at points it is
Razumikhin who supports Raskolnikov the most. It forces Razumikhin to replace Raskolnikov in
situations that should have been left to his authority. In a situation where Raskolnikov should have
reassured Dounia and Pulcheria of their safety he waved his hand weakly to Razumikhin to cut
short the flow of warm and incoherent consolations he was addressing to his mother and sister
(Part 3. 1). As Raskolnikov began to slowly move away from any form of comfortable socialization
and a growing poverty situation, his stubbornness to contain his pride and dignity eventually builds
up to the brutal murder of Alyona.
Razumikhin is in a similar financial situation as Raskolnikov. Razumikhin foils Raskolnikov in his
response to a desperate situation such as struggling poverty. He faced his struggles with a trial and
error personality. His view stood that you never reach any truth without making fourteen mistakes
and very likely a hundred and fourteen (Part 3. 1). It was in these positive outlooks that make
Raskolnikov realize how intense his isolation was becoming.

Becoming Transgender In The United States

in conform with their biological genderhave been becoming the opposite sex, a transgender. Some of
the most recent well known cases of becoming transgender have to be Bruce Jenner and Rodrigo

make me uncomfortable. This brings me to the article, when a lawsuit in Minnesota was placed.
The transgender which is labeled, Student X , was lifting her clothes and asking to trade body

that people consider what this girl did as something all girls do. While some girls may dance

Piaget Cognitive Theory
Piaget s Theory used in Mathematics Today Piaget took an interest in children s cognitive
development and came up with his theory of Cognitive Development; the Cognitive Development
theory consists of the four stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal
Operational (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). Jean Piagets cognitive theory has a wide array of effects on
children s learning in mathematics that are applicable to teaching today. Teachers today use
different strategies and teaching methods based on what stage children are in. I will discuss each of
the stages and how teachers use them in math today. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which
takes place between the age of zero to two, and is where children understand perception and
awareness of the environment through physical actions and the manipulation of objects (Ghazi
Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). In the sensorimotor stage, the most important thing to understand is the idea of
object permanence and understanding that even when the child cannot see the object they are still
able to find it. Also, in this stage they begin to associate numbers with objects and they understand
counting. In order to enhance a child s math basis teachers are giving activities that include
counting. Asking question like Who has more? and Are there enough? , start the foundation for
young children to not only understand these things in the classroom but even more so in the real
world. Another way teachers enhance

Piercings In The Workplace Essay
Tattoos and Piercings in the Workplace
Growing up I knew one day I would have tattoos. With my mom being covered in them, I couldn t
wait until the day I turned 18 so I could get my first tattoo. Sadly I was 7 years old when I realized
I wanted tattoos, so I had a very long time to wait. In the meantime, my mom and I found a

The Devil In The White City By Erick Larson
The Devil in the White City Analysis Paper
The Devil in the White City a novel written by Erick Larson, a book that consisted of a national
wonder in the Chicago World Columbian Exposition of 1893 or better known as the Chicago
world fair, as well with the fair goer predating murders committed by the famous serial killer
Dr.H.H.Holmes. Larson uses contrast between Chief architect of the Chicago World Fair Daniel
Hudson Burnham and serial killer H.H.Holmes. Larson then brings out juxtaposition between the
White City and the Black City (World fair vs. Chicago). Larson uses detailed imagery on the visual
of the fair.
In the time, famous architect Daniel Hudson Burnham won everybody s hearts and trust through
the idea of the Chicago World s Exposition (World Fair). While in the dark Holmes held his place
as a scum to the reader, an attractive, sick in the head pest. Through Larson s use of contrast

Analysis Of The Article Testimonial Injustice And ...
In Miranda Fricker s article Testimonial Injustice, she highlights the significant effects for the
connection of ethics and epistemology. Ethics is one of the philosophies branches that asks the
question, What is a good life or how to live a good life? Epistemology is the theory of philosophy
that ask the questions, What do you know? and How do you know it? Fricker basically,
combines the two subjects at the matter and produced the concept of epistemic injustice.
According to Fricker, epistemic injustices comes in the form of testimonial injustice. Testimonial
injustice involves preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience; that
cause any individual to put a label another individual s words as a credibility deficit or a
credibility excess. Fricker highlights, anyone can be a victim of epistemic injustices. In this
paper, I will support Fricker s argument that identity preconception and prejudgments create
credibility deficits consequently hindering right practice of epistemic that everyone should have.
According to Fricker, epistemic injustice can occur when the regular everyday individual s filled
his or her minds with prejudicial stereotypes and social power. A disadvantage of epistemic
injustice is that with these prejudicial stereotypes and social images, their brains are programmed
to trigger naturally a message to judge someone s accuracy on their knowledge. Fricker states,
social power is a capacity we have as social agents to

Analysis of the Decision
Parker s budgeting decision is a good example of an individual acting with bounded rationality. This
term was introduced by Simon in 1957 (as cited in Tolbert Hall, 2008) to argue that normative
models of decision making, which assume fully rational and objective judgement (Teale, Dispenza,
Flynn Currie, 2003), are unrealistic because human rationality is limited. Parker s judgement may
have seemed rational to him, but it was not rational for the organisation, a subtle distinction about
rationality made by Storing (as cited in Tolbert Hall, 2008). Parker s judgement was also not
rational in that he did not have all available knowledge and awareness of risk, which are the
conditions of normative models (Teale et al, 2003) and the official theory of management
(Anthony, as cited in Teale et al, 2003, p. 14). For example, Parker did not know about the
variations in the terrain when he made his decision, and he also assumed that the assistant workers
could work at the same physical rate that he could. Both of these limitations were factors resulting
in a risk to on time task completion.

Differences Between Hitler And Stalin
The Hitler Stalin Pact of 1939 shocked the world, but no one knew what Hitler really desired from
the Soviets until he commenced Operation Barbarossa in June, 1941. The War in the East began
with much confusion on the Soviet side, but in the end, they prevailed and the Germans were
unable to achieve Lebensraum. Upon examination, the different levels of planning and strategies
employed by both leaders guaranteed a Soviet victory, as Hitler overestimated his own forces,
while Stalin focused on effective methods. The downfall of the Nazis in the War in the East can be
attributed to their poor planning and underestimations of the Soviets. The sheer difference in
manpower alone was staggering; while the Nazis mobilized around 18 million soldiers... Show more

It was common knowledge that the Soviet Union was behind the other powers in terms of
industrialization, and to prepare for a war that was inevitable, Stalin attempted to solve this by
implementing a war economy as early as 1931, which meant that the Soviets were fully prepared
for World War II when it began. Once the Nazis invaded, however, they were taken completely by
surprise, and this led to Stalin utilizing different strategies with his own citizens. After a patriotic
message from foreign minister, Vyacheslav Molotov , Stalin himself gave a few speeches that
resonated with the people, by calling them to work together to defend against the Fascists as
brothers and sisters . After the first few months of constant defeat, however, Stalin decided to take
more desperate measures with Orders 227 and 270. Order 270 from August, 1941 stated that any
Red Army soldiers who surrendered to the Nazis would be severely punished. Soldiers were to
fight to their deaths, and anything they did otherwise was unacceptable. Stalin even proved to be
a man of his word as he disowned his own son for being a prisoner of war. Order 227 of July, 1942
eliminated the option of retreating in battle, as it only encouraged their enemies to push further into
Soviet territory . These decisions were extremely controversial, but no one can argue their

Pillow Method Paper
The pillow method is a five step process used to resolve a disagreement or enable two people to
gain understanding from a disagreement. The process involves each individual to look at the
problem through five different perspectives. These steps or perspectives include: I m right you
re wrong , You re right I m wrong , both right both wrong , this issue isn t important , and the
truth is in all perspectives (Alder Proctor, p. 104). The purpose of the pillow method is for each
person to gain insight from each step in the process. By looking at the problem from multiple
perspectives each person gets the chance to enhance their cognitive complexity (Alder Proctor, p.

Guns are a major problem in our society and the numbers of these gun related murders are
continuing to rise. On top of the murders you also have people losing their lives through misfire
and gun related suicides. The total death toll of all gun related deaths averages over 30,000 per
year in the U.S. (http://blogs.kqed.org/lowdown/2013/03/07/u s gun deaths visualizing the
numbers/). I believe that enforcing stricter gun laws will contribute to getting these numbers lower.
The numbers do not lie, we as a society have a problem with gun violence and we need to do
something to fix it.
You re right I m wrong : This step in the pillow method requires me to look at the problem from
my co workers point of view while trying to find the flaws in my own argument (Alder Proctor, p.
104). Switching perspectives, I can see my coworker s point on how introducing new gun laws
can lead to a slippery slope. There is always the chance that the enforcement of new gun laws
could not have a significant affect on the rate of gun related deaths in our country. This also
could lead to tougher laws being put in place until we reach the point were guns are banned all
together. If guns were to be banned all together, it would put law abiding citizens at risk of
criminals who disregard the law. It would put Americans citizens at risk of martial law

Free Will In St. Augustine s Confessions
The possession of free will in St. Augustine s Confessions is significant because it allows an
individual to make choices that would be considered sinful. In the midst of Augustine s journey to
become closer to god, Augustine becomes familiarized with one of his weaknesses that hinders his
ability to become closer to god, Augustine s desire for sex. Being first acquainted with sex during
his teenage years, a life without sex is unimaginable for Augustine. To ease his tensions, Augustine
engages with his mistress and ends up having a child. Upon Augustine s engagement, his mistress
moves away to Africa, and in order to compensate for his loss, Augustine gets another mistress.

However, a closer examination of Monica reveals that women, when given the role of
motherhood, lead Augustine to his faith. By first converting Augustine s pagan father, Monica
wanted Augustine to become a Christian. This is primarily why she postpones his baptism to a
later date, hoping Augustine would become purified after committing all of his sins. Upon
hearing the news of Augustine trying to seek the truth, Monica according to Augustine says she
believed before she left this life she would see me a faithful Catholic (Confessions 6.1).
Confessions starts off by Augustine questioning God for his lack of presence, and hopes to
submit to God after confessing his sins. Augustine has the ability to omit every aspect which
would bring him closer to God, except his desire for sex. Those who provide him sex, are his
mistresses, and while doing so, place Augustine on a road which leads him away from God.
However, these female characters have not taken a significant role, they are just depictions of the
stereotypical and misogynistic perceptions of women. Monica is more than overwhelmed to
extinguish Augustine s search for the truth. Her efforts praying for the salvation of Augustine comes
to existence towards the end of Confessions, when Augustine accepts Christianity. Thus, when
women are given the status of mothers, they

Analysis Of The Poem Battle Royal
The primary method for judging the worth of a piece of literature is its organic unity or the
complex way all the elements of a test contribute to a story s meaning. The images, symbols, and
metaphors in Ellison s Battle Royal give this story a whole new meaning. In 1947, when this
short story was published, the black community was at an all time low. The main aspects of this
piece have ambiguous meanings behind them. The grandfather s death scene, the naked dancer,
the battle royal, the narrator s speech, and the narrator s dream all have significant symbolism.
The grandfather s death had a major impact on the narrator s life. As the grandfather passed away
he stated, Son, after I m gone I want you to keep up the good fight... Live with your head in the
lion s mouth... Let em swoller you till they vomit or bust wide open (Ellison, 1495). These
words seem to act as spiritual guidance for the narrator. Throughout the story the readers see the
narrator refer back to these words. The grandfather dies with a legacy that haunts blacks
regardless of social, political, and economic progress. The social, political, and economic system
is seen when the naked blonde s erotic dance is described. Overall, this scene represents America s
distorted value system. The symbolism made by flag tattoo on the dancer is actually a depiction of
the relentless pursuit of money, sex, and power. The men, in the room where the dancing took
place, were not considerate of the dancer s

The Problem Of Homelessness In The United States
Homelessness has been a problem in the U.S for over 80 years and it remains a problem today.
There are over 225 homeless people in the Athens area, and society can help the homeless by
improving their lives by providing simplicities. The homeless cannot properly take care of
themselves because they are not provided the tools to. The top causing factors leading to
homelessnessis substance abuse, mental illness, and lack of education. According to the National
Coalition for the homeless 38% of the homeless population in the U.S were dependent on the use
of alcohol and 26% abused other drugs. The use of alcohol leads to loss of relationships, friends,
and jobs which then leads to losing their house. But in many cases substance

Puritan Ideology In Early America
Puritan ideology had a profound effect upon early America. Though they came to the New World
mainly for religious freedom after attempting to purify the Church of England, they left an impact
beyond just the spiritual as many men of the Puritan faith helped shape the young country. This
obviously led to the Puritans having a dramatic effect on the literature The whole life of a Puritan
was dedicated to God, as He was the only one who could offer salvation from eternal damnation.
They believed that humans are sinners incapable of earning God s merit on their own, and for
that reason they observed strict moral codes in order to ensure that they may receive God s grace.
This central idea, God s long withstanding mercy, a central idea reflected in many of the early
writings of America... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of his sermons, A Model of Christian Charity espouses central Puritan ideals. As stated
before the Puritans believed in a strict moral code in order to gain God s grace. One means of
living up to this code was helping those who were less fortunate. Winthrop not only
recommended charity towards others but stated it was a Christian duty saying, When there is no
other means by whereby our Christian brother may be relieved in his distress, we must help him
beyond our ability (208). In other words, he believed that as Christians the people should go
through drastic measures in order to help his common man. This lends itself to Puritan ideals, as
he personally believed this was a way of completing one s covenant with God and later suggested
that if all Christians can strive to practice the morals expressed in the Bible that they could perhaps
create a utopian community as a safe haven for all including the Native Americans. This in
particular was important at the time as the writings of Winthrop can perhaps be attributed to
improving relationships between the colonist and their neighbors in the new

The Decline of Cantonese Opera in Singapore Essay
Singapore, being a well known cosmopolitan city, has many of its cultural roots coming from all
over the world. Ever since the first record of Singapore s population structure, the Chinese have
dominated in racial concentration, now with a staggering 74.2% in 2013 . Through the course of
history, these Chinese migrants have brought different cultural and religious norms, food
preferences and conversing language to the little red dot from their various provinces. This essay

government unintentionally had a hand in the decline of amateur Cantonese opera troupes, with

In those days, radios were considered very expensive and a relatively underdeveloped
technology. Thus with the introduction of a cable broadcasting service, broadcasts were now
made available to households, even at areas where radio signals had weak reception. Moreover,
SWMDA like many other associations had jumped on the bandwagon and decided to perform
their songs on Redifussion Singapore. This along with their unparalleled sound quality had
decreased the need to travel out of homes to enjoy Cantonese Opera performances. People were
satisfied with just listening to the songs being performed. The next turning point was the
introduction of television service in 1963 and the implementation of the Speak Mandarin
Campaign (SMC) by the Singapore government in 1979. Not only did then Prime Minister Lee
Kuan Yew stop giving his speeches in Hokkien, all non mandarin Chinese radio and television
programs came to a halt. This outward focus on eliminating dialect as a language of
communication through broadcasting and other channels such as education resulted in lesser
appreciation for entertainment performed fully in dialect; this included Cantonese Opera. The
vacuum was quickly filled by Hong Kong and Taiwanese opera movies, as well as a series of
television operas produced in Singapore, Following the new trend, all these operas provided
subtitles in Chinese characters (Chua, 2005). As the

Damned In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Nowadays, individuality is perched on top of the highest pedestal. There s nothing that compares
with the ability to stand apart from each other and no one dares take that away. But in Ayn Rand s
novella called Anthem, it is the complete opposite; there are numerous Councils who are in charge
of everything for the people. Some of the things include, what jobs and what future people have
and also they regulate intelligence and inventions. Equality 7 2521, later renamed Prometheus, is a
member of this dystopian society; he isn t at all similar to his brothers. This, leads to his urge to
break away from them. The Council and the society damn him because of his actions and brain, but
after his escape, he realizes this damnation is hilarious because they are the damned, not him.

Their plan had not come through and it only made matters worse. While he was on the job, he
came across a lovely woman working in the fields, Liberty 5 3000, later, The Golden One and
also, Gaea. He had grown fond of her and would go and see her whenever possible. In those
times, when he wasn t sweeping streets or seeing her, he would visit his tunnel; where he
discovered electricity. When he realized that the World Council was meeting he walked out of
the Corrective Palace of Detention and took himself and his box to the City to the Home of the
Scholars. When presented the box and told he was a street sweeper they all gasped in
repugnance and said. We have much to say to a wretch who have broken all the laws and who
boast their infamy... How dared you think that your mind held greater wisdom than the minds of
your brothers? And if the councils had decreed that you should be a street sweeper, how dared you
think that you could be of greater use to men than in sweeping the streets... How dared you, gutter

Earth Like Planets
Introduction
Do you believe that there is life on other planets? Better yet, do you believe that there is another
planet that looks like earth? As far as I can remember, there has always been the question of is
there life in outer space? I remember being in grade school wondering if there were humans or
aliens on other planets and if they were trying to communicate with us. Around January 1986 the
Space Shuttle Challenger exploded during takeoff in front of the entire world. As a teenager, this
event was tragic and amazing at the same time because I felt that we were on our way to ... Show

However, this information does suggest to the public that we are getting closer and closer to
discovering other earth like planets. We can t be alone
The science community is getting very close to discovering earth like planets and extraterrestrial
life in outer space. This is considered a valued assumption among many researchers and
astronomers. To date, they have actually discovered more than 800 of these exoplanets amongst
the billions and billions of stars in our galaxy. The more planets found like HD40307g, the more
they resemble earth with earth like characteristics (the spinning on its axis, having a night and a
day, and orbiting in the habitable zone). Astronomers are also finding them closer to our solar
system. Another assumption of these findings are that humans are developing and advancing
technology to communicate, navigate, and live in outer space in the near future. NASA said no
candidate planet discovered thus far by Kepler is exactly like Earth, but noted that the spacecraft
has collected enough data to begin finding true sun Earth analogs Earth size planets with a one year
orbit around stars similar to the sun. (Poeter, 2012)
According to space.com, private companies and NASA are working together to take the next step
forward of launching humans into outer space. Entering the term space settlement, suggest that

Big Mama Presley s Comparison
While there are some similarities between Willie Mae Big Mama Thornton and Elvis Presley s
versions of the song Hound Dog, I am of the opinion that there were more differences. The
obvious similarities would be the lyrics retained in Elvis version of the song, though the
interpretation of those lyrics were very different. Perhaps what I feel is colored by growing up
in a household where my mother was an Elvis fan who played his version, and my father, who
was a coal miner s son born in the 1920s in the hills of Virginia, sang and played a much loved copy
he had of Big Mama Thorntons version. While my father masculinized the song when he sang it,
he did so retaining much of the spirit Thornton s recording had. Early on I was too young to
understand any of the risquГ© meanings behind the lyrics, but I knew it had a deeper meaning than
the fun version my mother and her sisters would bounce to while it played.... Show more content on

Big Mama Thornton s style was gritty, sassy, and powerful. The tempo is slower, her words
clearer (in her version, she enunciates better than Elvis Presley), as was her intent. She was fed
up with her man s philandering and she was not going to take it anymore, no matter how much he
wags his tail, she was no longer going to feed it. I also decided to watch a recording posted online
of Big Mama singing Hound Dog. I found two versions, one with Buddy Guy obviously performed
in the latter part of the fifties or early sixties, and another performance in 1971. I thought both

  • 2. Beaten by a Hair Introduction The case I chose to write on is based on a DVD that we watched in class called Beaten by a hair . In this case, a woman was reported missing after she went to work and never returned home. After the police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to the missing pillow case in the woman s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on their hands. A mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the woman leave through the front door of her house but the evidence says different, so investigators had to find out who left the house that morning. I am interested in this case because it was very intriguing how the forensic officers put all the pieces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 294). This means even after a week the blood has been cleaned up, luminol can still detect it. Also after applying luminol, the area needs to be darkened so that blue glow can be emitted. The iron from the hemoglobin in the blood causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the solution is sprayed where there is blood. Only a tiny amount of iron is required to catalyze the reaction (Helmenstine, 2012). The use of luminol revealed that there were blood stains on the bed sheets and suspected that the woman was killed in her bedroom and that she did not go to work that day or leave the house. Upon further analysis of the woman s bedroom, the forensic officers used a chemical called amido black. Amido black is a protein dye that is sensitive to the protein in blood and when it makes contact stains a latent blue black colour. It is used for revealing fingerprints, trace evidence, and fibers that may be in the crime scene. This technique was not useful for the officers because they could not find any prints or evidence. The forensic officers also performed an ultraviolet light test which was used to reveal trace evidence such as vaginal fluid, urine, semen, or saliva. The ultraviolet test is usually done before using chemicals such as luminol to see if there are any fibers to be found and used first. However the officers were not able to find anything, but this method was useful to them because they could not find any evidence to prove that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Herman Miller became a founding partner of the U.S. Green Building Council and the Tropical Forest Foundation (Shipper et al., 2011). The company discontinued the use of endangered wood and chose to use wood from sustainable sources instead (Shipper et al., 2011). Each member of the Herman Miller organization recognizes these core values and are held to these standards from plant worker to board member (Shipper et al., 2011). Herman Miller saw tough times in the early 21st century. Sales fell flat as the dot com bubble burst (Shipper et al., 2011). • 5. Soccer Influence On American Culture Stated by Foer, Soccer isn t the same as Bach or Buddhism. But it is often more deeply felt than religion, and just as much a part of the community s fabric, a repository of tradition. (How 1). Soccer is an influential sport which is more often than not taken more serious throughout the world than in the United States. Within the region of Europe soccer has influenced the people in varying ways, such as changing their perspective on immigration of foreigners. This change of perspective is due to the different characteristics portrayed from soccer that can move a whole nation or one as an individual. The migration tolerance of different nations can be influenced immensely by soccer specifically, through WorldCup play of France s international team, propaganda images and personal encounters.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for my mentor Iain Langstone he was given the opportunity to come the United States from England to play soccer at the collegiate level. Comparably to the opinions heard by the French players as foreigners, Iain also heard stuff said about him however it was not negative. The effects of the opinions were rather positive giving him confidence in himself and his play as a soccer player. Due to his acceptance from others. Although the opinions of France and Iain s soccer team were not remotely close this shows how one can personally be affected by others opinion in soccer. The game of soccer can open the door for endless opportunities. As for Iain, without the chance of coming to United States on a soccer scholarship his life would be drastically different than it is today. After his time spent in the United States he was open to the job of becoming a coach at youth premier levels, an assistant coach for UNC Pembroke and a rehab tech at Fayetteville Orthopedics. • 6. War As A Fundamental Way Of War Since the beginning of time, humanity has resorted to war as a fundamental way to settle their differences. Clausewitz described war as the act of force to compel the enemy to do our will. Sun Tzu believed the purpose of war was to subdue the enemy without fighting. Regardless of the definition, every culture has its motives for why it goes to warand how it should be conducted. Nation states go to war to gain access to new territories and resources, settle religious differences, and defend against a threat or for no other reason than to impose their will on the enemy. To deter war nation states have used diplomatic means to settle their differences, but when that fails, war follows. When war is declared, the victory goes to the force who can inflict the most casualties at the decisive point. However, in Western culture, there were other contributing factors to claiming victory. The capability of European states to dominate the battlefield was due to their application of the principles of the Western way of war. The Western way of war was built on five principles; the reliance on superior technology, discipline, and training, the means to finance wars, challenge and response and Western militarytraditions. This essay examines how three principles disciplined soldiers, superior technology, and the financial means to fund armies shaped conflicts throughout western civilization. Disciplined soldiers have always been the center of any military strategy based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Essay On Being A Stage Manager Next on my list was a regional stage manager, Ruth Kramer. Ruth is based out of New York, however her last job was in Pittsburgh. As of right now Ruth is between adventures as she so cheerfully put it. However, the last show she worked on was Equus. Equus was a big show, and the hardest part was keeping the actors safe. The men played horses, so they had horse masks and hooves which made it difficult to see and walk around on stage. As for Ruth, the hardest part was learning the text and material, because this show was about psychology so she had to research to fully understand the production. Although she is on the board for Actors Equity Association and is a part of 10 committees she does not need a retail job while she is between jobs. She thinks if you cannot go a few weeks or even months with our having a job than this is not a business you should be in. Ruth s advice simply boiled down to you have to absolutely love it if you want to do it. She said this, there is influx of stage managers and an outflow of jobs . If you find out when you start you are not good, do not do this as your job. And lastly if you choose to do this you have to be able to want to stage manage anything. After talking to Ruth, it was put into perspective that I cannot have any doubts about being a stage manager. My last interview was with a Halloween Horror Nights stage manager, Madalyn Musser. Madalyn was an assistant stage manager on the Bill and Ted Show at Halloween Horror Nights this past season. She also oversees certain sections of entertainment for holiday events at Universal. She said the hardest part of working at Universal as a whole is the politics. The environment is very competitive, you always have to do your best to be put on another event. The borders of America after the Louisiana Purchase was finalized, went from what is now Oregon s eastern border all the way to the very northern tip of Texas and into Louisiana. But President Polk still wanted more land, so in 1836 when Texaswon its independence from Mexicothey scrambled to get the new republic annexed into the U.S. This caused problems with Mexico because when Texas signed the treaty with the U.S they, the Americans, were convinced the border was the Rio Grande. This land that the Americans were fighting for was originally Mexico s land. However, when Texas had declared its independence in 1836 America saw a chance to gain more land and hurriedly tried to convince them to join the United States. It was only then when Texas joined the U.S did they have border problems. This is because President Polk was power hungry and what shows power more than how much land a country has? And even though the land did not belong to them, nor did it Texas they still tried to claim it as theirs. Polk says I had ordered an efficient military force to take a position between the Nueces and the [Rio Grande] This had become necessary to meet a threatened invasion of Texas [because of] the Mexican force... threatened [Americans] solely because Texas has determined... to annex herself to our Union...it was plainly our duty to extend our protection over her citizens and soil. I would want the president of the United Statesto be a loyal, honest, and fair person to ever member of our country whether they are lower, middle, or higher class. One very important trait for the president is bravery. A brave president will be willing to fight for our country when we are under attack from an enemy. If a country declares war on the US then our president should be intelligent, brave, and have the right mind set on how to defeat the enemy. Human behavior is an extraordinarily interesting subject and therefore produces a plethora of ideas from a variety of theorists. His contributions to human behavior have changed many of the theories that preceded him, and his theory contributed to many theories that followed. I want to explore Client/Person Centered Therapy . Thus, the client would have to be categorized with the assumption that he has experienced in his past severed free and open communication with his peers . This would mean that a client with clear and reciprocated communication with her loved ones would not find use in Client Centered Therapy. According to Truscott (2010), our efforts to feel good about ourselves we tend to try to incorporate others expectations― thereby denying our true selves and adopting instead a conditional self― resulting in feelings of disorganization and emotional pain. If, on the other hand, we experience genuineness, nonjudgmental caring, and empathy in our relationships with others, then we can achieve our potential as persons (p.70 71). Thus, a client with emotional support can manage his feelings easier then someone without any emotional support. This still leaves the client with emotional support with the expectation that she should not have any difficulty with expressing her emotions. It is apparent that Rogers main goal was to create an environment for the client in which he will eventually be able to independently understand and express his feelings. Problem Definition FiWi (Fiber Wireless) networks are designed using the wireless networks such as WLANs and fiber networks like PONs (Passive Optical Networks). Therefore FiWi networks having advantages of both users mobility support as well as high bandwidth. But the major problem with this networks is as the number of mobile user s increases, queueing delay is increasing in FiWi s Optical Network Unit (ONU). There are number of methods recently proposed for minimizing this queueing delay for bandwidth allocation. However, this methods are only working on PONs and WLANs and hence not considering the state of ONU. Therefore performance of FiWi networks is poor in terms of throughput and queuing delay. For any kind of FiWi networks improving its performance in terms of throughput is very vital. This can be possible by presenting the efficient queueing delay minimization method for FiWi networks. This is main research problem for this domain. 2. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Turning an oxygen level the wrong way may leave the air non breathable to a climber after a few short minutes. These errors happen every season on Everest, no matter what the conditions are. Other physical errors involved the precious resource of oxygen atop the mountain. In one instance, guide Andy Harris refused to believe that a portion of the oxygen canisters stored at the South Summit contained oxygen, often reporting There s no oxygen here! (qtd. in ITA, 195) After research and tests other climbers deduced that there was in fact a supply of oxygen just below the top of the mountain where Harris stood. The misunderstanding by Harris was likely caused by a faulty oxygen register, but his unwillingness to believe his own tests were wrong confused many struggling climbers. Harris caused additional trouble while descending the mountain; he turned Jon Krakauer s oxygen level in the wrong direction on his tank. This caused Krakauer to have a sudden surge of pure oxygen followed by his canister running out of the gas. The mistakes by Harris and Krakauer caused Krakauer s schedule of receiving oxygen to be thrown off balance, causing his descent to be severely tougher than expected. Climbers neglect of their own physical limitations also caused grief during the climb and descent. The harsh winds and temperatures of the high altitudes unexpectedly tortured Beck Weathers, who had undergone eye surgery months before the climb. While looking at net neutrality you must consider several ideas that impact the topic. Before looking at any ideas though, you must first understand what net neutrality is. First, it is an abbreviation of network neutralitywhich is the idea, principle, or requirement that Internet service providers should or must treat all Internet data as the same regardless of its kind, source, or destination as stated by the Merriam Webster Dictionary. Fortunately, the post lasted and in the progress, Champlin associated with the First Nations; however, this led the French into violence against the Iroquois. Likewise, although Ebolahemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s, only recently has the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC, Outbreaks, 2014). Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective case control study) to determine risk factor and more. Data is collected and assessed to aid officials in introducing measures to prevent the spread and correct the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg handling to improper farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly. EHF has its origins in the jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is found, all contacts must be identified. Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is more human centric. A case control study would be the practical study design, as it is less intensive and less expensive. Treating EHF requires a large amount of money and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In contrast, individuals with salmonellosis require adequate fluids to heal and little else. Piaget Cognitive Theory Piaget s Theory used in Mathematics Today Piaget took an interest in children s cognitive development and came up with his theory of Cognitive Development; the Cognitive Development theory consists of the four stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal Operational (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). Jean Piagets cognitive theory has a wide array of effects on children s learning in mathematics that are applicable to teaching today. Teachers today use different strategies and teaching methods based on what stage children are in. I will discuss each of the stages and how teachers use them in math today. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which takes place between the age of zero to two, and is where children understand perception and awareness of the environment through physical actions and the manipulation of objects (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). In the sensorimotor stage, the most important thing to understand is the idea of object permanence and understanding that even when the child cannot see the object they are still able to find it. Also, in this stage they begin to associate numbers with objects and they understand counting. In order to enhance a child s math basis teachers are giving activities that include counting. For my 17th birthday I got two piercings in my wrist and another on my tragus. So and so forth by the time I was 18, I had 20 piercings on body. Now being 19, I have 6 tattoos. • 34. The Devil In The White City By Erick Larson The Devil in the White City Analysis Paper The Devil in the White City a novel written by Erick Larson, a book that consisted of a national wonder in the Chicago World Columbian Exposition of 1893 or better known as the Chicago world fair, as well with the fair goer predating murders committed by the famous serial killer Dr.H.H.Holmes. Larson uses contrast between Chief architect of the Chicago World Fair Daniel Hudson Burnham and serial killer H.H.Holmes. Larson then brings out juxtaposition between the White City and the Black City (World fair vs. Chicago). Larson uses detailed imagery on the visual of the fair. In the time, famous architect Daniel Hudson Burnham won everybody s hearts and trust through the idea of the Chicago World s Exposition (World Fair). While in the dark Holmes held his place as a scum to the reader, an attractive, sick in the head pest. Through Larson s use of contrast Burnham is actually just as egotistical as Holmes. • 35. Analysis Of The Article Testimonial Injustice And ... In Miranda Fricker s article Testimonial Injustice, she highlights the significant effects for the connection of ethics and epistemology. Ethics is one of the philosophies branches that asks the question, What is a good life or how to live a good life? Epistemology is the theory of philosophy that ask the questions, What do you know? and How do you know it? Fricker basically, combines the two subjects at the matter and produced the concept of epistemic injustice. According to Fricker, epistemic injustices comes in the form of testimonial injustice. Testimonial injustice involves preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience; that cause any individual to put a label another individual s words as a credibility deficit or a credibility excess. Fricker highlights, anyone can be a victim of epistemic injustices. In this paper, I will support Fricker s argument that identity preconception and prejudgments create credibility deficits consequently hindering right practice of epistemic that everyone should have. According to Fricker, epistemic injustice can occur when the regular everyday individual s filled his or her minds with prejudicial stereotypes and social power. A disadvantage of epistemic injustice is that with these prejudicial stereotypes and social images, their brains are programmed to trigger naturally a message to judge someone s accuracy on their knowledge. (299 words) Analysis of the Decision Parker s budgeting decision is a good example of an individual acting with bounded rationality. This term was introduced by Simon in 1957 (as cited in Tolbert Hall, 2008) to argue that normative models of decision making, which assume fully rational and objective judgement (Teale, Dispenza, Flynn Currie, 2003), are unrealistic because human rationality is limited. Parker s judgement may have seemed rational to him, but it was not rational for the organisation, a subtle distinction about rationality made by Storing (as cited in Tolbert Hall, 2008). Parker s judgement was also not rational in that he did not have all available knowledge and awareness of risk, which are the conditions of normative models (Teale et al, 2003) and the official theory of management (Anthony, as cited in Teale et al, 2003, p. 14). For example, Parker did not know about the variations in the terrain when he made his decision, and he also assumed that the assistant workers could work at the same physical rate that he could. Both of these limitations were factors resulting in a risk to on time task completion. The War in the East began with much confusion on the Soviet side, but in the end, they prevailed and the Germans were unable to achieve Lebensraum. Upon examination, the different levels of planning and strategies employed by both leaders guaranteed a Soviet victory, as Hitler overestimated his own forces, while Stalin focused on effective methods. It was common knowledge that the Soviet Union was behind the other powers in terms of industrialization, and to prepare for a war that was inevitable, Stalin attempted to solve this by implementing a war economy as early as 1931, which meant that the Soviets were fully prepared for World War II when it began. Once the Nazis invaded, however, they were taken completely by surprise, and this led to Stalin utilizing different strategies with his own citizens. After a patriotic message from foreign minister, Vyacheslav Molotov , Stalin himself gave a few speeches that resonated with the people, by calling them to work together to defend against the Fascists as brothers and sisters . After the first few months of constant defeat, however, Stalin decided to take more desperate measures with Orders 227 and 270. Order 270 from August, 1941 stated that any Red Army soldiers who surrendered to the Nazis would be severely punished. Soldiers were to fight to their deaths, and anything they did otherwise was unacceptable. Stalin even proved to be a man of his word as he disowned his own son for being a prisoner of war. Order 227 of July, 1942 eliminated the option of retreating in battle, as it only encouraged their enemies to push further into Soviet territory . • 43. Analysis Of The Poem Battle Royal The primary method for judging the worth of a piece of literature is its organic unity or the complex way all the elements of a test contribute to a story s meaning. The images, symbols, and metaphors in Ellison s Battle Royal give this story a whole new meaning. In 1947, when this short story was published, the black community was at an all time low. The main aspects of this piece have ambiguous meanings behind them. The grandfather s death scene, the naked dancer, the battle royal, the narrator s speech, and the narrator s dream all have significant symbolism. The grandfather s death had a major impact on the narrator s life. As the grandfather passed away he stated, Son, after I m gone I want you to keep up the good fight... Live with your head in the lion s mouth... Let em swoller you till they vomit or bust wide open (Ellison, 1495). These words seem to act as spiritual guidance for the narrator. Throughout the story the readers see the narrator refer back to these words. The grandfather dies with a legacy that haunts blacks regardless of social, political, and economic progress. The social, political, and economic system is seen when the naked blonde s erotic dance is described. Overall, this scene represents America s distorted value system.
