Nada In A Clean Well Lighted Place
Nada , is a term introduced in Ernest Hemingway s story, A Clean Well Lighted
Place . The concept of Nada has many interpretations but some images are more
essential than others. Not only is imagery important but the most important part is
characterization. Most of the imagery is present and put upon the old man. This is
because Hemingway uses his personal experiences and portrays them in his stories.
He interprets them well, as the reader directly understands the difficulties and
struggles of his past experiences. Because of Ernest Hemingway s rough
childhood and raising, Hemingway s viewpoint of the soul is displayed in his
images images of blackness, brightness, nothingness, and quietness or
peacefulness. In A Clean Well Lighted Place , Ernest Hemingway shares the
concept of nada . He proves this concept with the idea of blackness. The repetition
of the old man sitting in the shadow (Hemingway 175), implies that the old man
was empty and feels separated from the rest of everything that s around him. The
same thing applies for the old mans deafness. He isn t just deaf but isolated from
the rest of his surroundings. These images imply the intensity of darkness. The older

This impact relates to the term, darkness. As the old waiter was deaf and suffered
darkness from the world, he liked to sit late because he was deaf and now at night
it was quiet and he felt the difference (Hemingway 174). There was different ways
the deafness affected the old waiter. It brought him the reality of depression yet this
was peaceful. Peacefulness pertains to the quietness of the cafe as it brings a
soothing, relaxing, and undisturbed atmosphere. The older waiter is grateful for the
quietness the cafe has to offer. He also uses quietness and peace to escape the reality

Vouchers Should Not Be Allowed In Schools
What is the problem with free money?
Ralph Waldo Emerson in the Divinity school address once said, Speak the truth,
and all things alive or brute are vouchers and the very roots of the grass
underground there, do seem to stir and move to bear you witness. School vouchers
are a public funding set aside for private schooling toward children s education. They
give parents the opportunity to select public or private schools of their choice using
government dollars. Increasing the performance of all schools, school vouchers would
provide equal opportunities in education. These checks are beneficial to low income
households who cannot afford education for their children. School vouchers are a
needed necessity because they support low income families ... Show more content on

A voucher allows parents to use public funds to pay for some or all of their private
school tuition (Veva). Parents basically having that opportunity to send their
children to a private school full time for free because of the school vouchers. When
it comes to low income families these programs help kids to stay off the street gain
and learn knowledge so they can one day be successful in their lives. A coupon

Researchers contemplating that if things go this way well school vouchers
providing them would not be a problem; knowing that voucher programs remove
the monopoly power of local public schools. Furthermore, vouchers are used by
harmless caring parents who are trying to better their children s education by getting
them away from dangerous unfit public schools within their community. Why
would someone want to reject an innocent person s education because they feel as
though it is too much money being wasted on poor children who are 85% more
likely to drop out after the first year? People are just wanting equal opportunity and
is that too much to ask for. This reason as to why school vouchers are beneficial
relates to the logos appeals because they are presenting the research on how school
vouchers are actually improving and bettering society in student achievement whether
it is public or private

Fraud Is A Global Problem
Fraud is deliberate deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain. Fraud is both a civil
wrong (i.e., a fraud victim may sue the fraud perpetrator to avoid the fraud and/or
recover monetary compensation) and a criminal wrong (i.e., a fraud perpetrator may
be prosecuted and imprisoned by governmental authorities).
Fraud is not prejudice; culture, ethnicity, and religion, are not factors in determining
who will commit fraud. Finding fraud can be difficult. We re constantly reminded at
every client consultation, audit, fraud and accounting conference we attend that fraud
is inherently hidden. Deception, alteration, fabrication and the destruction of
documents seems to be the norm for all fraudsters, yet qualified anti fraud

Our clients by their very nature are entrepreneurial. Through drive, will, and
determination they developed and grew their organizations. The traits that made
them successful, such as drive and a focus on growth, are reasons for their success.
An area where many entrepreneurs lack the skill set or time to address is the
creation of the policies and procedures that many large firms have in place. In many
cases this is one of the reasons they hired CFO Strategic Partners. Unfortunately, the
lack of strict policies and procedures can make them most susceptible to fraudulent
activities.
From being overcharged for supplies to time cards that inflate hours worked, over
97% of companies with fewer than 100 employees have experienced some sort of
fraud within the last year. The ACFE s 2014 report describes that, on average,
companies with fewer than 100 employees suffer an average loss of $154,000
compared to entities with 1000 9999 employees with an average loss of $100,000 due
to the differing levels of occupational fraud existing in the organizations.
Occupational fraud costs the typical organization 5% of revenues annually.

College Dropout Rates
Enrollment at Utah institutions has steadily risen over the past decade as college has
become the social norm for young adults, but is this a good thing? With more
students attending college than ever before, the dropout rates in Utah colleges has
skyrocketed as more and more students realize that college is not for them. With this
influx of students and rising dropoutrates, we as a society are left with an enormous
number of young adults leaving college without a degree, any marketable skills and
mounds of debt.
A couple of reasons why college students drop out are because of the tuition costs
each semester and the overwhelming stress you get while maintaining a job. Most
people think that college is just something that everybody has to ... Show more

It will make these students strive to become better at school. This will very much
increase optimism in school and just in general. The only problem with this
solution is that it does give students that attitude of well I either have half of my
graduation paid for or all of it. This might lead to some sort of not trying as hard in
school. Some kids might do this but most other really would try and get that free
education and pay it slowly off later in life.
This solution will put things in a different perspective like giving students and
everyone the awareness of how important school really is. If students are aware of
how education impacts your future then they will start trying even harder at school
and just being able to have that drive to become something successful in the future.
Many families in Utah think it s more important to serve a mission and to put off
school. Both are very important but when people get back from their missions, some
have a hard time finishing earlier in

Gospels are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Each had a different author in which
they each had a different audience placed in different time periods for different

Jews are Gods chosen people; Israel becomes the keepers of the Old testament, the
recipients of the covenants, and the channel of Messiah (Rom. 3:2; 9:1 5). The
Law is the dos and don ts of moral behavior. God gave the Law so that people
would have a guide to live by and a standard by which they might recognize God s
purity and their sinfulness. There are 613 commandments in the Old Testament.
They oversee moral, judicial, and religious behavior. The Law is a reflection of the
character of God because the Law comes forth from the very heart of God. The Bible
says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt. 12:34). When
God gave the Law, He was speaking out of the abundance of His heart. He was
speaking from what was in Him. Therefore, the Law is good, pure, right, and holy.
It is wrong to lie because it is against God s nature to lie. It is wrong to steal
because it is against God s nature to steal. This Law, then, by its very nature of
coming out of the heart of God and being spoken to men, is a standard for human
conduct a perfect standard. Because it was perfect and we are not, it is impossible
for sinful people to keep. It was for this reason that the Law became a stumbling
block. It became an obstacle to Man because it is an unattainable perfect standard.
The Law, then, brings about the opposite of what it requires. The Law says to be
perfect but shows you where you are not. It says to be

Concrete Structure Of Concrete Structures
The behaviour of concrete under a load is an important phenomenon that has to be
considered while evaluating and analysing concrete structures. Concrete is one of the
most widely used construction materials in the world. So it is essential to understand
what concrete is and the properties associated with it. For more than 200 years, this
artificial conglomerate stone made up of cement, water and aggregates, has been
accepted for its long lasting and dependable nature. In addition to durability, its
superior energy performance, flexibility in design and affordability are some of other
important aspects of concrete. (Naik, 2008).
According to ASTM and ACI committee, concrete is defined as a composite material
that consists essentially of a binding medium within which are embedded particles or
fragments of aggregate. But Hansen suggested that a composite material can have
two fundamentally different structures. The first one is an ideal composite hard
material, which has a continuous lattice of an elastic phase with a high modulus of
elasticity, with embedded particles of a lower modulus of elasticity. The second type
of structure is that of an ideal composite soft material, which has elastic particles
with a high modulus of elasticity embedded in a continuous matrix phase with a
lower modulus of elasticity. (Neville, et al., 1983). Concrete being a composite
material can thus be considered as consisting of two phases: hydrated cement paste
and aggregates, and the properties
Alcohol and the Brain
Alcohol and the Brain
In chemistry terms, alcohol is any organic compound where a hydroxyl group is
bound to a carbon atom, which is has single bonds to three other atoms. The type of
alcohol that can be consumed is called Ethanol which is a liquid and psychoactive
recreational drugs. If a person drinks Ethanol, or alcohol, it affects the central nervous
system, which causes decrease in activity, anxiety, tensions, concentration, and
judgement. There are also several cases of memory loss due to heavy drinking that
cuts off the supply of oxygen to the brain.
Most of us have witnessed the effects of alcohol, whether it be slurring words, lack
of balance, or lack of judgement. These physical signs occur due to the effect of
alcohol in our brains and central nervous system. Although many of us have
witnessed or experienced effects of alcohol, very few of us have knowledge of what
exactly is happening to our body and brain when consuming alcohol. It has always
been evident that alcohol has an effect on the brain, which can in turn impair the
behavior and thinking processes of individuals. However, most of society is unaware
of the chemical reaction that is occurring within their body and brains every time they
consume alcohol. Alcohol affects brain chemistry by the altering levels of
neurotransmitters. Alcohol increases the effects of the inhibitory neurotransmitters
GABA in the brain, causing slower or sluggish movements and slurred speech that is
a common occurrence with

Protected cultivation is the concept of growing potential crops in the modified natural
environment for ensuring optimum growth of the crop plants without any or least
stress and hence offers great scope to harness this potential of growing the high value
crops by achieving independence of climate and weather, and to grow these crops
during off season and in marginal environments. Globally, there is a need to increase
productivity and quality of the produce to meet the demand of ever increasing quality
and health conscious consumers. Hence, a breakthrough in production technology of
high value crops such as, vegetables that integrates market driven safe foods/ products
driven quality parameters with the production system by ensuring vertical growth in
the productivity.

The Purpose Of Fractional Distillation
Discussion
The purpose of this experiment is to identify two compounds from an unknown given
liquid by separating them into three components using fractional distillation.
Distillation is the act of heating and cooling liquids in order to obtain a pure sample.
There are two main types of distillation: simple distillation and fractional distillation.
Simple distillation is the most basic form of a distillation. This method is more
helpful when the separation between a liquid and a solid needs to happen or
between two liquids with boiling points that have a difference of about 50В°C or
higher. Fractional distillation is similar to simple distillation; however, it is used to
separate two liquids with similar boiling points. Fractional distillation works by first
heating up the solution of the two liquids. Once the solution begins to boil, the
unknown compound that has a lower boiling point will evaporate and rise into a
distillation apparatus. The newly formed gas will travel through the apparatus until it
is cooled down, at which point the gas will not be able to maintain the energy
needed for this specific phase, and will begin to condense back into a liquid. The
same process will occur with the second liquid, the only difference being that it
needed a higher temperature in order to transform into a gas. The two new liquids
will each have a higher percentage of the unknown compound, thus making them
have a higher purity rate.
The second technique that will be used to identify
Use Of Mobile Phones In School
Defending: Schools should have the right to ban cellphone use during the school
day Nowadays, the cell phones become popular in the social, it has become harder
to find students who do not own a smartphone. Youth now have cell phones that
they carry with them everywhere .The school system is faced with the challenge of
school students mobile phone use. Students insist that phone is necessary. In fact,
students should not be allowed to use cell phone during the school day since they
lack the self control and effect their independent study. Schools across the country
are faced with or have to face students who carry and use mobile phones at school.
For example, students would use cell phone in the class. Some of them might have
chat with others, taking Selfie, or some of them read the novels or some of them
play games. Therefore, they waste the time and learn nothing. Thought the number of
student s cell phone using rate are increasing which have distracting influence and
reduce the grades. Students in school are still learning about themselves, so they
should concentrate on study in school day. On the other hands, cell phones should
not be allowed to bring to school because cell phone gives the students a great
chance to cheating. It is clear that texting in the classroom has become more and
more epidemic. Most of the time during a test, students went to different websites to
look for answers. In addition, they get free Wi Fi in classroom, it even becomes

Pros And Cons Of Floodplains
A floodplain or flood plain is an area of land adjacent to a stream or river that
stretches from the banks of its channel to the base of the enclosing valley walls and
experiences flooding during periods of high discharge. Or in simple words we can
say an area of low lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of riversediments
and subject to flooding.
Flood plains are made by a meander eroding sideways as they travel downstream.
When a river breaks its banks and floods, it leaves behind layers of alluvium (silt).
These gradually build up to create the floor of the flood plain. Floodplains can
support particularly rich ecosystems, both in quantity and diversity.
Floodplains are where land and water meet. The two environments merge ... Show

This reduces a river s discharge and so makes it less likely to flood. Afforestation
also prevents mass wasting which reduces the amount of soil entering the river and
keeps the river s capacity high. When combined with floodplain zoning,
afforestation can be very effective at reducing the risk of flooding. It creates new
habitats for animals and improving water quality by filtering pollutants out of
rainwater. The issue with afforestation is that it requires quite a lot of space to be
effective and could prove unpopular among famers on the floodplain as they won t be
too happy with trees sapping nutrients from the soil. This issue can be combated
somewhat by creating riparian buffers, thin vegetated strips of land that run adjacent
to a river s channel.
Wetland Restoration involves creating conditions that are favorable for the
development of wetlands (marshes or swamps). Wetlands are able to store large
volumes of water which helps to reduce the discharge in a river. Wetlands don t
reduce flooding where they are located but rather downstream of the river. They have
the added benefit of creating new habitats for animals and greatly increasing
biodiversity. They reduce the area of land available for farming though which makes
them unpopular among

possess. Look closely at the characters in William Golding s novel Lord of the Flies.
In a well written essay, consider the importance of leadership as it pertains to the
central theme and the novel as a whole.
By examining the quality, nature and presence of leadership in the characters of
William Golding s Lord of the Flies, a reader gains vital insight to several of the
central themes of the novel. Ralph and Jack both display strong leadership qualities
throughout the novel, but Jack ultimately garners more support. This is important to

not directly tied to true leadership ability. Simon is similar to Piggy in that he

the group as a whole because of his lack of superficial leadership qualities. By

underscoring their lack of influence on the group, Golding proves his argument that

people live and look at life is changing. What Forster sees is dangerous results. He

Not only that in each of the stories humans don t even get close to nature so In The
Story of Panic( Past) The woods are empty. In The Curates friend (Present) The
countryside is empty and everyone is living in the cities and lastly in The Machine
Stops( Future) The surface of The earth is empty and the population are living
underground relying on a machine which I will speak more about later.
Evaluating this we can see how our connection with nature is leaving slowly from the
past to The future, from the woods to the Surface of the earth.
As we know from the three short stories E. M. Forster is particularly keen on
Greece and Italy. This a major effect on Forsters view. He thinks of them as the
creators of nature and the Gods. And as the Gods created humans we can see
where that leads. Researching Forster s life I found that that during his life he had
the freedom to travel a lot. He liked to travel to Greece and Italy in particular and
this is probably how he got his knowledge and passion for the two countries. As
well as Italy and Greece he travelled and lived in India for a little while. We can see
how this reflects on Nature. As we know India is a relatively poor country and they
would not have the same urban life as England as well as the technology, which
England had.

Caregiver Vs Childcare
Childcare in the United States: Mother Vs. Caregiver
The propaganda poster of Rosie the Riveter by Miller and Richard Nixon s
Address to the Nation on Labor Day led women to leave the home and start
working. Nixon describes work ethic and how America needs to step up for the war
and support the country. Women during the time didn t have their husbands to bring
the income in and had to rely on jobs themselves. Rosie the Riveter influenced
women to work by using the propaganda technique of plain folks. This led to many
children being put in the care of others such as grandparents or paid caregivers. The
inflection of women in the workforce today is extremely high and parents don t think

And those behavior and achievement differences, though small, were still evident
more than a decade after parents stopped those day care payments . Dr. Michele
Borba also states that Parents have far more influence on children s growth and
development than any type child care they receive , based on a federally funded
study by the Early Child Care Research Network; however, she agrees that high
quality child care will improve a child s development. The study showed,
Academic and behavior gains from child care that endured until age 15 were
slightly higher when children were involved with high quality child caregivers .
High quality is defined as caregivers who are warm, supportive and provide high
quality cognitive stimulation . Here, Dr. Borba describes that the parent does have a
larger influence on the child s morals than the caregiver, but putting the child into
these care centers will allow the children to thrive in academics. This early growth in
education leads to a more developed child who will advance in learning. In a
personal interview with Dr. Borba, she said that the quality of the daycare really
makes a difference with the development of a child, but does not limit that nothing

The chances of getting a girl are slightly lower then that of a boy, combined with

One major advantage that is fairly simple for me to pass on is language. Like my
mother and grandmother before me, I will try to speak only Spanish while my
child is developing their language skills. It is infinitely easier to learn new
languages when you are young, and I would really like to give my child to
advantage of learning early. However, unlike my family, I can also advance my
child s skills by speaking Mandarin to them. Although my Mandarin is limited now,
I hope to become fluent in the future. By the time I have a child I would like to
speak them in both Spanish and Chinese, to give them an amazing advantage
hardly anybody has. Another advantage I would like to give my child is a talent.
You may be confused, so let me explain. Professional dancers or soccer players or
anything really oftentimes began training in their profession during preschool. I
never latched on to any sport or activity, mainly because I didn t try many. I would
like to give my child the opportunity to try as many activities as possible, in order to

until middle school or later. Even if they decide not to continue with the activity they
choose, at least they have the advantage of a skill, be it useful or
The Battle Of Chancellorsville As General Robert E. Lee
Civil War historians view the Battle of Chancellorsville as General Robert E. Lee s
greatest and most remarkable victory (Sears 1). Lee, facing an army twice his size,
defies all military doctrine and divides his army multiple times in order to out
maneuver and surprise the Union forces. The daring maneuver succeeds and
ultimately forces the Union s Army of the Potomac to retreat. The victory was
another major blow to Union troops, but it came at a huge cost to the Confederacy:
the loss of General Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson. By evaluating the battle through
the lens of the mission command activities, one can see how Lee s daring maneuver
was actually very calculated and his only option for victory. Throughout the rest of
this paper, I will describe the timeline of the battle and how General Lee used the
mission command activities of understand, visualize, assess, and lead to ultimately
achieve victory at Chancellorsville. After the Union s defeat at Fredericksburg in
December of 1862, President Abraham Lincolnonce again made a change in the
Union Armys leadership. General Ambrose Burnside was replaced with Major
General Joseph Hooker. Hooker and Lincoln both agreed that the key to victory in
the war was the destruction of Lee s Army in a decisive battle (Sears 57 62). Hooker
s plan to accomplish this was to use his 130,000 soldiers and launch a double
envelopment of Lee s 60,000 men still camped at Fredericksburg. Between April 27
and May 1 of 1863, Hooker
Technology And The Educational System
We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher s hand,
because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we
experience much of our world (Warlick). This quote by David Warlick illustrates the
necessity of implementing technology into the educational system through the use of
a metaphor that compares it to the pen and paper of our time. As technology
continues to advance, it s expanding influence in classrooms results in an increase in
student comprehension and rate of achievement.
Today, technology is ingrained into every aspect of one s life, including education.
One of the most prominent ways in which technology impacts the classroom is
through the abundant amount of knowledge available. A few decades ago, libraries
were often the sole means of gathering information and research in classrooms.
However, in recent years, the internet has made knowledge more accessible and
convenient for student use. A study done by the Pew Research Group discovered that
71% of middle school and high school students with internet access rely mainly on
computers, rather than libraries, when completing school projects (Purcell). Unlike
libraries, which can hold outdated books and articles, the internet is continually
updated, providing an accurate and constant source of information. Additionally, a
library s selection is often limited, whereas the internet has unlimited knowledge on
any desired subject. Although libraries are an
Essay on Natural Symbolism in Blood-Burning Moon
Racial and Gender Conflict: According to Toomer, it s only Natural. There are two
real conflicts in Jean Toomer s Blood Burning Moon. The first is racial, which can
be referenced in the very first sentence, and the second is a gender conflict, that
subtly unfolds with the main characters development. In this essay, I will show
how Toomer uses vivid descriptions and comparisons of nature to establish these
conflicts, and also to offer an explanation of their origin. He writes to argue that
these roles, like the earth, are natural and therefore irrefutable. A close reading of
the opening paragraph will reveal the sharp contrast between white and black, as it is
described in a metaphor of wood and stone. It can be argued that the... Show more

not, just gal? No, it was because she was a nigger that he went to her. (1507) When
Toomer writes of Stone, the entire tone changes. He writes in the analytical and
possessive inner monologue of a `white man , which is formal and calculating. All
focus is removed from the environment, and devoted to the mind of Bob as he
deliberates his relationship with Louisa. He was going to see Louisa to night, and
love her. She was lovely in her way. Nigger way. What way was that? Damned if he
knew. Must know (1507). Bob is confused by his feelings for Louisa, and the
choppiness of his thoughts comes out in Toomer s writing. Bob loves Louisa, but
doesn t understand her. Although, given the way Toomer has structured the story,
how can he be blamed? Bob has a mind of stone, and Negro s are described as
wooden, and more connected to the earth. In other words, the moon, trees, and
wilderness that is familiar and welcome to the Negroes, is interpreted as `gloom in
Bob s mind. This hints to the irreconcilable differences between blacks and whites,
each thinks and relates in a completely different way to their environment. While
Bob rambles through the trees, his thoughts are on Louisa, a woman he seeks to
control, but can not relate to. He has no care to establish his place in nature, and no
thought to believe that there is a power above his own. The sharp contrast against
Essay on The Robber Bridegroom by Eudora Welty
The Robber Bridegroom by Eudora Welty
Eudora Welty s first novel, The Robber Bridegroom, is a combination of fantasy
and reality while exploring the duality of human nature, time, and the word man
lives in. The union of legend, Mississippi history and Grimms fairy tales create an
adult dream world. Every character in the story has little insight to themselves and
how they relate to the world around them. The antics of Mike Fink, the Harps, the
bandits, and the Indians closely relate to Mississippi folklore. The blending of actual
history and pure fantasy create a much richer form of entertainment. Mike Fink was
an American frontiersman who is said to have beaten Davy Crockett in a shooting
contest. The Harpe brothers were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosamond is looking forward to the future, to be free from her stepmother and
experience love besides that between father and daughter. The story is loaded with
cruel and horrible acts. Mike Fink tries to kill Jamie and Clement for bags of gold;
Clement s first wife dies after seeing their son thrown into boiling water by Indians,
Kentucky Thomas is killed leaving his ugly wife to marry Clement, an Indian girl
is raped and killed by Little Harp, and Rosamond is raped by Jamie. All of these
acts are overpowered, however, by the humor of the characters. The three main
characters represent clear opposites in their own characters. Rosamond is beautiful
and pure but could not tell the truth to save her life. Clement is a planter who is
restless and loves to travel. Jamie is a criminal as well as a bridegroom. Their
outside appearance can undermine the opinions of others. If being a bandit were
his breadth and scope, I should find him and kill him for sure, said he. But since in
addition he loves my daughter, he must be not the one man, but two, and I should
be afraid of killing the second. For all things are double, and this should keep us
from taking liberties with the outside world, and acting too quickly to finish things
off. All things are divided in half night and day, the soul and body, and sorrow and
joy and youth and age, and sometimes I wonder if even my own wife has not been
the one person all the time, and I loved her

Hamlet And Hamlet
While Shakespeare was writing Hamlet it s safe to assume that he would not realize
the repercussions that would arise. Surely, he did not know much about psychology
yet, he is referred to by many today as the world s first psychologist due to his play
Hamlet. Shakespeare was acutely aware of what was happening around him and he
was able to convey that through his work making the character Hamleta vessel for
audiences and readers alike to relate to. This relatability has since spilled over into
our culture and society and continues to influence modern artists. Hamlet has also
laid the foundations for many modern archetypes we see in entertainment today such
as; the tragic hero. Not only this but, Hamlet has also inspired many adaptations
such as The Lion King which played a large part in many young millenials lives
without many of them realizing it was based off of Hamlet. Although, this may be
considered Shakespeare s greatest play of all time there is no denying, it is
fundamentally flawed and has inevitably influenced our culture through those flaws
as well. Whether he did intentionally or not will never be known but never the less,
Shakespeare enveloped psychology into his work. Arguably, one of the more famous
things Shakespeare unintentionally influenced was Freudian psychology. Freud was
the true father of psychology and although many of his theories have been debunked
and disproved, they still had a major influence on the science and foundations behind
psychology.

Women s Suffrage In American History Essay
Women s Suffrage in American History
During the late 19th century, women were in a society where man was dominant.
Women did not have natural born rights, such as the right to vote, to speak in public,
access to equal education, and so forth, did not stop them to fight for their rights.
Women s lives soon changed when Lucy Stone, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Susan
B. Anthony played a prominent role to help bring about change.
Lucy Stone, an abolitionist, is one of the most important workers for women s
suffrage and women s rights. When the Bible was quoted to her, defending the
positions of men and women, she declared that when she grew up, she d learn Greek

The timeline of women s suffrage is a one that spans from 1848 to 1920. The women
s rights movement in the United States started in the year 1848 with the first women
s rights convention held in Seneca Falls, New York. During this convention the
Declaration of sentiments was signed by 68 women who agreed that women deserved
their own political identities. This document set forward the agenda for the women s
rights movement. In the year 1869, Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton
formed the National Women s suffrage Association which demanded that the 15th
amendment be changed to include women right to vote. In the year 1890, The
National Women Suffrage Association and the American Women Suffrage
Association merged to form National American Woman Suffrage Association
(NAWSA). Colorado was the first state to grant women the right to vote in the year
1893, followed by Utah, Idaho, Washington, California, Oregon, Kansas, Arizona,
Alaska, Illinois, Montana, Nevada, New York, Michigan, South Dakota and

Perfection in Ursula LeGuin s The Lathe of Heaven
Is there such a place where ideal perfection exists? Can our views on social,
political, and moral issues ever concur with one another? The answer to these
questions is simple no. The world we live in today is full of social, political, and
moral imperfections that hinder our ability to live a life free of evil. In Ursula LeGuin
s The Lathe of Heaven, this imperfect lifestyle is the foundation on which the desire
for a utopian society sits. The American Heritage Dictionary defines reality as the
totality of all things possessing actuality, existence, or essence . For George Orr, the
protagonist in the novel, his dreams actually become reality. Through his gift of

One example of how he is unsuccessful is in his attempts to create a warless world.
In order to do so, Dr. Haber tells Orr to dream of Peace. No more mass killings of
humans by humans...a world at peace with itself. Peace as a universal life style on
Earth (LeGuin 85). Orr literally interprets this and dreams of a warless Earth,
however, he dreams up aliens battling in space in place of war on Earth. Dr. Haber
orders Orr to dream of peace on Earth and that is exactly what he does, however,
the idea of life without war seems too unrealistic for Orr, causing him to create a
war with the aliens on the moon. Orr says it best when he says, I can t even
imagine a warless world. The best I can do is substitute one kind of war for
another (LeGuin 86). This inconsistency between what is intended and what
actually occurs is why a utopian society is unrealistic. Without one, the other
cannot exist. Another example of Dr. Haber s failed attempts towards Utopia is
shown in his effort to dissolve the world of the racial problem. By telling Orr to
dream of a world that sees no difference in color or race, Orr once again literally
interprets this and dreams of a world where everyone is gray. There are no more
distinctions between African Americans, Whites, Asians, or any other race for that
matter. Everyone looks exactly the same.

Serving as the number one source of our plastic use, companies opt for plastic
containers because it s easy, feasible, and convenient. Food packaging alone makes
up for 30 40% of landfills with much of that plastic being carried into the oceans.
Going off of this, a new concept that s quickly becoming popular are package free
grocery stores. These cost effective grocery stores have everything you could
possible need in bulk form and consumers bring glass or reusable containers, or
cloth bags and fill them with the food they need. First popping up in cities like
Berlin, Vienna, and Barcelona, many are finding this a more sustainable and eco
friendly option resulting in these sort of grocery stores quickly spreading across the
ocean, with the first one in the United States expected to open in Brooklyn, New
York. Business operators are extremely optimistic that this could serve a very
impactful solution to getting rid of unnecessary plastic. (Che Jenny).
In conclusion, it should have been learned that the issue of plastic pollution has
become ruinous. The cost of repair and the inconvenience of lifestyle changes cannot
compare to the frightful future this planet is headed. At current rates, hazards are not
just inflicted on Earth s oceans but individual human health and the other creatures
that rightly inhabit this land. With this concern

of Scripture Of all the debates that have developed in the Christian world over the
centuries, the debate in regards to the infallibility and authority of scripture looms
at the top of the list. This is not simply a trivial matter of belief, but this is a key
issue; what an individual believes in this regard has the potential to either clarify
or distort his or her view on the character, trustworthiness, and supremacy of God.
A person s stance on this issue, the infallibility and the authority of the written
Word of God, will determine and establish many of the boundaries of their faith in
God. To truly be a believer and follower of Christ requires that one place faith in, and
believe that Christ was who He said he was, and what He said he was. This belief
also requires one to believe what He believed and what He declared to be

Christian Mystics to Quakers, seems to think that the key (or, at least, one of the
keys) to enlightenment lies in nature. As one may suppose, this is not a new concept.
Throughout literary history, there is a distinct trend of authors praising the virtues of

However, he took no pride in the final result, claiming that nobody believes;
perhaps the real secret lies in making people believe. That the book was inadequate,
faulty, bad, terrible, as they said, was only natural. [He] was attempting at the start
what a man of genius would have undertaken at the end (ibid.) In 1923, Miller met
and married June Mansfield after divorcing his first wife. While this marriage
proved to be faithless, he found in her inspiration. She encouraged him to put his
energy into writing, and the passion and madness of their marriage further fuelled
him ( Henry Miller 2). Eventually, problems with June drove him to Paris without
her (despite the fact that it was funded by her), where he spent many years writing
what is now considered to be the opuses of his repertoire ( Henry Miller 1). While
in Paris, he wrote Tropic of Cancer which is still his most famous work which,
along with Tropic of Capricorn, chronicles his life in Paris. Both books were
banned in the United States, which spawned a thirty year censorship debate that
was eventually won by Miller ( Henry Miller 1). The publication of these and
following works helped perpetuate the image of Miller as a legendary character, a
kind of folk hero, the Paul Bunyan of literature, larger than life as exile, bohemian,
and rebel, the great
Analysis Of The Dark Knight
The caped crusader is one of the most famous super heroes ever. Bruce Wayne is the
man behind the mask that is a debonair, successful heir to his family s business.
From his bat cave to his black suit, Batman is recognized as being a superhero that
metes out justice with fairness and efficiency, but what would be said if Batmanand
Wayne was a superhero with a mental disorder? Post traumatic stress disorder is a
trauma stress disorder that occurs frequently in combat veterans, natural disaster
survivors, and even motor vehicle accidents (Nevid, Rathus, and Greene 149).
The Dark Knight is the second movie of a trilogy about the caped crusader himself,
Batman. The Dark Knight begins with Bruce Wayne, a rich heir to Wayne
Enterprises and now head man for the business, portraying a busy life while
secretly fighting crime in Gotham city as Batman. Bruce Wayne has a love
interest in a woman and childhood friend of Rachel that was introduced in the first
movie of the trilogy. Rachel is aware that Wayne is Batman. Bruce keeps from
being in a relationship with Rachel due to the risks to her life if someone were to
find out that he is Batman. Also, it was to save her from heartache knowing that
each night he goes out could be the last he lives. The main antagonist of the movie
is the villain Joker. Not much of a storyline about his past is present in the movie
and he is mostly an enigma. The main things we learn about the Joker s past are
from a scene with Wayne in his bat cave
Music In Fantastic Mr. Fox
Style/Genres
Film score music; Folk
It is a one minute and seven seconds short music for a scene in an American film
called Fantastic Mr. Fox. It is a folk music as it uses ukulele as its main instrument
that it sounds like Hawaiian folk music with the accompaniment of strings and
xylophone. It is a short instrumental peace and the melody is repeated for several
times.
Context
Fantastic Mr. Fox is a tale of crossing the line of family responsibilities and midnight
adventure and the friendships and awakenings of this country life that is inhabited by
Fantastic Mr. Fox, his family and his friends. The music moving in starts when the
main character Mr. Fox and his family is moving into his new house from a poor
hole area just like the name of the music. The music not only portrays moving into a
new house, but also an image of a cunning fox.
Form
The music has a strophic form since the melody does not change but with variations
in the accompaniment. The xylophone plays different types of notes compared with
cello and flute. Cello appears with the ukulele for the third time repetition. Variations
within the accompaniment changes the listening effect for audiences and makes the
music not boring but memorable.
Melody

It is a short instrumental peace and the melody is repeated for several times. My
favourite version is the orchestration one.
Context
The movie KikujirЕЌ s Summer tells a story of a man helps a boy to find his mom
during a summer vacation. The story is shown by a series of dairy written by the
boy. There is love and friendship throughout the storyline. Summer is the theme music
for the movie, so it is everywhere in the movie.
Form
The music has a form of ABABA since a new melody is played in between the first
melody. The difference in woodwinds , strings and piano also makes the new melody
stand out.

Oskar Schindler Movie Analysis
Oskar Schindler wasn t always a nice man. It took him a long time to adapt into the
man he was at the end of the movie. At the beginning of the movie. He was a
perpetrator. Just like any other Nazi, he would treat the Jews like slaves. At first,
he used the Jews to make a big fortune. He knew about the Jewish black market, and
knew that they had items that could not be found locally during the time of the war.
He got items for himself through the black market, and even bought or took some
items to resell at a higher price. Although this was bad, it was the least of his crimes.
Oskar would use Jewsin his factory. He did not pay them, and they worked countless
hours getting as much material out the door as possible. His factories would make
materials that were sure to be used. Since war was going on, Schindler knew that
making war supplies would be the best option for making lot s of money. So, his
slaves went to work. And, as they starved and sweat, he got rich and sipped
expensive wine. He did not let just any Jew work for him. His workers were the
best working Jews available. In fact, there was one time that a worker was not up
to par with what Oskar expected, and he got very angry. This is to show that not
just any Jew could come into his factory and work. He made sure that the Jews on
his floor would be the ones to make him the most money possible. He did not care
about the lives of his workers, he cared about his wealth. Towards the middle of the
movie, Oskar sees how
Catapult Project Essay
This catapult project exemplifies and strengthened my current knowledge of
parabolas that we have learned during class. Using our skills, my group Katrina,
Brandon, Michelle, and I created an interesting catapult which would thrust a ping
pong ball across creating an upside down U shape, also known as a parabola.
During our time as a group, we learned to create our own equation, create a graph
and table, but also learn from our mistakes by trying to make the ping pong s journey
consistent. Not only this, but we worked together as a team to get this task done.
Before even beginning to measure the ping pong ball s journey , we had to create
our own catapult. Using materials provided by Ms. Csigi, such as popsicle sticks, hot
glue, rubber bands, and a spoon, we created the our own, unique catapult. First off,
we created a square with four popsicle overlapping each other. Then we created
another square and connected the two by the edge, with one side upwards. Then we
got a spoon and glued it on another popsicle stick. Because the spoon needed to be at
an angle, we hot glued the bottom facing the bottom of the square. We connected
rubber bands to the spoon so that once we pull the spoon to ground zero, the ... Show

One of my group members were confused as to why ax^2 is negative, but that is
because the ping pong ball has to come down at a certain point. With this in mind,
our group had to start at ground zero since we can t start at a negative point. Or
graph wouldn t make sense because the ping pong ball cannot go down into the
ground. Moving on, we actually found our standard form equation (using the
calculator) before our vertex form so we actually used this to our advantage. Instead
of doing all the unneeded work, we plugged in our vertex into the formula a(x
h)^2+k. So this way, our vertex form equation would come out to be

The concept of Nada has many interpretations but some images are more essential than others. Not only is imagery important but the most important part is characterization. Most of the imagery is present and put upon the old man. This is because Hemingway uses his personal experiences and portrays them in his stories. He interprets them well, as the reader directly understands the difficulties and struggles of his past experiences. Because of Ernest Hemingway s rough childhood and raising, Hemingway s viewpoint of the soul is displayed in his images images of blackness, brightness, nothingness, and quietness or peacefulness. In A Clean Well Lighted Place , Ernest Hemingway shares the concept of nada . He proves this concept with the idea of blackness. The repetition of the old man sitting in the shadow (Hemingway 175), implies that the old man was empty and feels separated from the rest of everything that s around him. The same thing applies for the old mans deafness. He isn t just deaf but isolated from the rest of his surroundings. These images imply the intensity of darkness. Peacefulness pertains to the quietness of the cafe as it brings a soothing, relaxing, and undisturbed atmosphere. The older waiter is grateful for the quietness the cafe has to offer. He also uses quietness and peace to escape the reality of

Ralph Waldo Emerson in the Divinity school address once said, Speak the truth, and all things alive or brute are vouchers and the very roots of the grass underground there, do seem to stir and move to bear you witness. School vouchers are a public funding set aside for private schooling toward children s education. They give parents the opportunity to select public or private schools of their choice using government dollars. Researchers contemplating that if things go this way well school vouchers providing them would not be a problem; knowing that voucher programs remove the monopoly power of local public schools. Furthermore, vouchers are used by harmless caring parents who are trying to better their children s education by getting them away from dangerous unfit public schools within their community. Why would someone want to reject an innocent person s education because they feel as though it is too much money being wasted on poor children who are 85% more likely to drop out after the first year? People are just wanting equal opportunity and is that too much to ask for. This reason as to why school vouchers are beneficial relates to the logos appeals because they are presenting the research on how school vouchers are actually improving and bettering society in student achievement whether it is public or private

With more students attending college than ever before, the dropout rates in Utah colleges has skyrocketed as more and more students realize that college is not for them. With this influx of students and rising dropoutrates, we as a society are left with an enormous number of young adults leaving college without a degree, any marketable skills and mounds of debt. This solution will put things in a different perspective like giving students and everyone the awareness of how important school really is. If students are aware of how education impacts your future then they will start trying even harder at school and just being able to have that drive to become something successful in the future. There are 613 commandments in the Old Testament. They oversee moral, judicial, and religious behavior. The Law is a reflection of the character of God because the Law comes forth from the very heart of God. The Bible says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt. 12:34). When God gave the Law, He was speaking out of the abundance of His heart. He was speaking from what was in Him. Therefore, the Law is good, pure, right, and holy. It is wrong to lie because it is against God s nature to lie. It is wrong to steal because it is against God s nature to steal. This Law, then, by its very nature of coming out of the heart of God and being spoken to men, is a standard for human conduct a perfect standard. Because it was perfect and we are not, it is impossible for sinful people to keep. It was for this reason that the Law became a stumbling block. It became an obstacle to Man because it is an unattainable perfect standard. The Law, then, brings about the opposite of what it requires. The Law says to be perfect but shows you where you are not. • 10. Concrete Structure Of Concrete Structures The behaviour of concrete under a load is an important phenomenon that has to be considered while evaluating and analysing concrete structures. Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials in the world. So it is essential to understand what concrete is and the properties associated with it. For more than 200 years, this artificial conglomerate stone made up of cement, water and aggregates, has been accepted for its long lasting and dependable nature. In addition to durability, its superior energy performance, flexibility in design and affordability are some of other important aspects of concrete. (Naik, 2008). According to ASTM and ACI committee, concrete is defined as a composite material that consists essentially of a binding medium within which are embedded particles or fragments of aggregate. But Hansen suggested that a composite material can have two fundamentally different structures. The first one is an ideal composite hard material, which has a continuous lattice of an elastic phase with a high modulus of elasticity, with embedded particles of a lower modulus of elasticity. The second type of structure is that of an ideal composite soft material, which has elastic particles with a high modulus of elasticity embedded in a continuous matrix phase with a lower modulus of elasticity. (Neville, et al., 1983). Concrete being a composite material can thus be considered as consisting of two phases: hydrated cement paste and aggregates, and the properties

Alcohol and the Brain Alcohol and the Brain In chemistry terms, alcohol is any organic compound where a hydroxyl group is bound to a carbon atom, which is has single bonds to three other atoms. The type of alcohol that can be consumed is called Ethanol which is a liquid and psychoactive recreational drugs. If a person drinks Ethanol, or alcohol, it affects the central nervous system, which causes decrease in activity, anxiety, tensions, concentration, and judgement. There are also several cases of memory loss due to heavy drinking that cuts off the supply of oxygen to the brain. Most of us have witnessed the effects of alcohol, whether it be slurring words, lack of balance, or lack of judgement. These physical signs occur due to the effect of alcohol in our brains and central nervous system. Although many of us have witnessed or experienced effects of alcohol, very few of us have knowledge of what exactly is happening to our body and brain when consuming alcohol. It has always been evident that alcohol has an effect on the brain, which can in turn impair the behavior and thinking processes of individuals. However, most of society is unaware of the chemical reaction that is occurring within their body and brains every time they consume alcohol. Alcohol affects brain chemistry by the altering levels of neurotransmitters. Alcohol increases the effects of the inhibitory neurotransmitters GABA in the brain, causing slower or sluggish movements and slurred speech that is a common occurrence with

  • 14. The Purpose Of Fractional Distillation Discussion The purpose of this experiment is to identify two compounds from an unknown given liquid by separating them into three components using fractional distillation. Distillation is the act of heating and cooling liquids in order to obtain a pure sample. There are two main types of distillation: simple distillation and fractional distillation. Simple distillation is the most basic form of a distillation. This method is more helpful when the separation between a liquid and a solid needs to happen or between two liquids with boiling points that have a difference of about 50В°C or higher. Fractional distillation is similar to simple distillation; however, it is used to separate two liquids with similar boiling points. Fractional distillation works by first heating up the solution of the two liquids. Once the solution begins to boil, the unknown compound that has a lower boiling point will evaporate and rise into a distillation apparatus. The newly formed gas will travel through the apparatus until it is cooled down, at which point the gas will not be able to maintain the energy needed for this specific phase, and will begin to condense back into a liquid. The same process will occur with the second liquid, the only difference being that it needed a higher temperature in order to transform into a gas. The two new liquids will each have a higher percentage of the unknown compound, thus making them have a higher purity rate. The second technique that will be used to identify

  • 18. Pros And Cons Of Floodplains A floodplain or flood plain is an area of land adjacent to a stream or river that stretches from the banks of its channel to the base of the enclosing valley walls and experiences flooding during periods of high discharge. Or in simple words we can say an area of low lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of riversediments and subject to flooding. Flood plains are made by a meander eroding sideways as they travel downstream. When a river breaks its banks and floods, it leaves behind layers of alluvium (silt). These gradually build up to create the floor of the flood plain. Floodplains can support particularly rich ecosystems, both in quantity and diversity. Floodplains are where land and water meet. The two environments merge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This reduces a river s discharge and so makes it less likely to flood. Afforestation also prevents mass wasting which reduces the amount of soil entering the river and keeps the river s capacity high. When combined with floodplain zoning, afforestation can be very effective at reducing the risk of flooding. It creates new habitats for animals and improving water quality by filtering pollutants out of rainwater. The issue with afforestation is that it requires quite a lot of space to be effective and could prove unpopular among famers on the floodplain as they won t be too happy with trees sapping nutrients from the soil. This issue can be combated somewhat by creating riparian buffers, thin vegetated strips of land that run adjacent to a river s channel. Wetland Restoration involves creating conditions that are favorable for the development of wetlands (marshes or swamps). Wetlands are able to store large volumes of water which helps to reduce the discharge in a river. Wetlands don t reduce flooding where they are located but rather downstream of the river. They have the added benefit of creating new habitats for animals and greatly increasing biodiversity. They reduce the area of land available for farming though which makes them unpopular among

While this is happening mechanically it was also happening in a mental aspect and the way people live and look at life is changing. What Forster sees is dangerous results. He was probably writing in a time like the Industrial revolution when a lot of lives were taken for the good of experimentation and knowledge. There was also a view of slave trade and sweatshops for cheap labour as well as hiring children to risk their lives and go inside the machines to fix them because only they could fit. Not to mention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only that in each of the stories humans don t even get close to nature so In The Story of Panic( Past) The woods are empty. In The Curates friend (Present) The countryside is empty and everyone is living in the cities and lastly in The Machine Stops( Future) The surface of The earth is empty and the population are living underground relying on a machine which I will speak more about later. Evaluating this we can see how our connection with nature is leaving slowly from the past to The future, from the woods to the Surface of the earth. As we know from the three short stories E. M. Forster is particularly keen on Greece and Italy. This a major effect on Forsters view. He thinks of them as the creators of nature and the Gods. And as the Gods created humans we can see where that leads. Researching Forster s life I found that that during his life he had the freedom to travel a lot. He liked to travel to Greece and Italy in particular and this is probably how he got his knowledge and passion for the two countries. As well as Italy and Greece he travelled and lived in India for a little while. We can see how this reflects on Nature. As we know India is a relatively poor country and they would not have the same urban life as England as well as the technology, which England had.

Nixon describes work ethic and how America needs to step up for the war and support the country. Women during the time didn t have their husbands to bring the income in and had to rely on jobs themselves. And those behavior and achievement differences, though small, were still evident more than a decade after parents stopped those day care payments . Dr. Michele Borba also states that Parents have far more influence on children s growth and development than any type child care they receive , based on a federally funded study by the Early Child Care Research Network; however, she agrees that high quality child care will improve a child s development. The study showed, Academic and behavior gains from child care that endured until age 15 were slightly higher when children were involved with high quality child caregivers . High quality is defined as caregivers who are warm, supportive and provide high quality cognitive stimulation . Here, Dr. Borba describes that the parent does have a larger influence on the child s morals than the caregiver, but putting the child into these care centers will allow the children to thrive in academics. This early growth in education leads to a more developed child who will advance in learning. Lee, facing an army twice his size, defies all military doctrine and divides his army multiple times in order to out maneuver and surprise the Union forces. The daring maneuver succeeds and ultimately forces the Union s Army of the Potomac to retreat. The victory was another major blow to Union troops, but it came at a huge cost to the Confederacy: the loss of General Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson. Technology And The Educational System We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world (Warlick). This quote by David Warlick illustrates the necessity of implementing technology into the educational system through the use of a metaphor that compares it to the pen and paper of our time. As technology continues to advance, it s expanding influence in classrooms results in an increase in student comprehension and rate of achievement. Today, technology is ingrained into every aspect of one s life, including education. One of the most prominent ways in which technology impacts the classroom is through the abundant amount of knowledge available. A few decades ago, libraries were often the sole means of gathering information and research in classrooms. However, in recent years, the internet has made knowledge more accessible and convenient for student use. A study done by the Pew Research Group discovered that 71% of middle school and high school students with internet access rely mainly on computers, rather than libraries, when completing school projects (Purcell). • 29. Hamlet And Hamlet While Shakespeare was writing Hamlet it s safe to assume that he would not realize the repercussions that would arise. Surely, he did not know much about psychology yet, he is referred to by many today as the world s first psychologist due to his play Hamlet. Shakespeare was acutely aware of what was happening around him and he was able to convey that through his work making the character Hamleta vessel for audiences and readers alike to relate to. This relatability has since spilled over into our culture and society and continues to influence modern artists. Hamlet has also laid the foundations for many modern archetypes we see in entertainment today such as; the tragic hero. Not only this but, Hamlet has also inspired many adaptations such as The Lion King which played a large part in many young millenials lives without many of them realizing it was based off of Hamlet. Although, this may be considered Shakespeare s greatest play of all time there is no denying, it is fundamentally flawed and has inevitably influenced our culture through those flaws as well. Whether he did intentionally or not will never be known but never the less, Shakespeare enveloped psychology into his work. Arguably, one of the more famous things Shakespeare unintentionally influenced was Freudian psychology. Freud was the true father of psychology and although many of his theories have been debunked and disproved, they still had a major influence on the science and foundations behind psychology.

Can our views on social, political, and moral issues ever concur with one another? The answer to these questions is simple no. The world we live in today is full of social, political, and moral imperfections that hinder our ability to live a life free of evil. In Ursula LeGuin s The Lathe of Heaven, this imperfect lifestyle is the foundation on which the desire for a utopian society sits. Orr literally interprets this and dreams of a warless Earth, however, he dreams up aliens battling in space in place of war on Earth. Dr. Haber orders Orr to dream of peace on Earth and that is exactly what he does, however, the idea of life without war seems too unrealistic for Orr, causing him to create a war with the aliens on the moon. Orr says it best when he says, I can t even imagine a warless world. The best I can do is substitute one kind of war for another (LeGuin 86). This inconsistency between what is intended and what actually occurs is why a utopian society is unrealistic. Without one, the other cannot exist. Another example of Dr. Haber s failed attempts towards Utopia is shown in his effort to dissolve the world of the racial problem. By telling Orr to dream of a world that sees no difference in color or race, Orr once again literally interprets this and dreams of a world where everyone is gray. There are no more distinctions between African Americans, Whites, Asians, or any other race for that matter. Everyone looks exactly the same.

While in Paris, he wrote Tropic of Cancer which is still his most famous work which, along with Tropic of Capricorn, chronicles his life in Paris. Both books were banned in the United States, which spawned a thirty year censorship debate that was eventually won by Miller ( Henry Miller 1). The publication of these and following works helped perpetuate the image of Miller as a legendary character, a kind of folk hero, the Paul Bunyan of literature, larger than life as exile, bohemian, and rebel, the great

Also, it was to save her from heartache knowing that each night he goes out could be the last he lives. The main antagonist of the movie is the villain Joker. Not much of a storyline about his past is present in the movie and he is mostly an enigma. The main things we learn about the Joker s past are from a scene with Wayne in his bat cave

The music not only portrays moving into a new house, but also an image of a cunning fox. Form The music has a strophic form since the melody does not change but with variations in the accompaniment. The xylophone plays different types of notes compared with cello and flute. Cello appears with the ukulele for the third time repetition. Variations within the accompaniment changes the listening effect for audiences and makes the music not boring but memorable. Melody The unforgettable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. Oskar Schindler Movie Analysis Oskar Schindler wasn t always a nice man. It took him a long time to adapt into the man he was at the end of the movie. At the beginning of the movie. He was a perpetrator. Just like any other Nazi, he would treat the Jews like slaves. At first, he used the Jews to make a big fortune. He knew about the Jewish black market, and knew that they had items that could not be found locally during the time of the war. He got items for himself through the black market, and even bought or took some items to resell at a higher price. Although this was bad, it was the least of his crimes. Oskar would use Jewsin his factory. He did not pay them, and they worked countless hours getting as much material out the door as possible. His factories would make materials that were sure to be used. Since war was going on, Schindler knew that making war supplies would be the best option for making lot s of money. So, his slaves went to work. And, as they starved and sweat, he got rich and sipped expensive wine. He did not let just any Jew work for him. His workers were the best working Jews available. In fact, there was one time that a worker was not up to par with what Oskar expected, and he got very angry. This is to show that not just any Jew could come into his factory and work. He made sure that the Jews on his floor would be the ones to make him the most money possible. He did not care about the lives of his workers, he cared about his wealth. Towards the middle of the movie, Oskar sees how
  • 44. Catapult Project Essay This catapult project exemplifies and strengthened my current knowledge of parabolas that we have learned during class. Using our skills, my group Katrina, Brandon, Michelle, and I created an interesting catapult which would thrust a ping pong ball across creating an upside down U shape, also known as a parabola. During our time as a group, we learned to create our own equation, create a graph and table, but also learn from our mistakes by trying to make the ping pong s journey consistent. Not only this, but we worked together as a team to get this task done. Before even beginning to measure the ping pong ball s journey , we had to create our own catapult. Using materials provided by Ms. Csigi, such as popsicle sticks, hot glue, rubber bands, and a spoon, we created the our own, unique catapult. First off, we created a square with four popsicle overlapping each other. Then we created another square and connected the two by the edge, with one side upwards. Then we got a spoon and glued it on another popsicle stick. Because the spoon needed to be at an angle, we hot glued the bottom facing the bottom of the square. We connected rubber bands to the spoon so that once we pull the spoon to ground zero, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of my group members were confused as to why ax^2 is negative, but that is because the ping pong ball has to come down at a certain point. With this in mind, our group had to start at ground zero since we can t start at a negative point. Or graph wouldn t make sense because the ping pong ball cannot go down into the ground. Moving on, we actually found our standard form equation (using the calculator) before our vertex form so we actually used this to our advantage. Instead of doing all the unneeded work, we plugged in our vertex into the formula a(x h)^2+k. So this way, our vertex form equation would come out to be
