Single Parenting Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of single parenting presents a unique set of challenges, blending
emotional depth with sociological insight. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between
addressing the personal struggles faced by single parents and analyzing the broader societal
implications. Delving into the intricacies of single parenting involves navigating a delicate path,
as one must tread carefully to avoid oversimplification or, conversely, drowning in complexity.
The emotional aspect demands a nuanced understanding of the experiences of single parents,
acknowledging both the resilience and the challenges they encounter. On the sociological front,
one must explore the impact of single parenting on children, family structures, and societal
norms. The research process can be intensive, requiring a thorough examination of academic
studies, statistical data, and personal narratives.
Moreover, crafting a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates personal anecdotes, empirical
evidence, and expert opinions can be challenging. Ensuring a logical flow while maintaining the
reader's engagement is crucial. The essay should not merely recount the struggles of single
parenting but should also shed light on potential solutions, support systems, and the importance
of societal awareness.
In conclusion, writing an essay on single parenting necessitates a delicate balancing act between
empathy and analysis, personal narratives and academic rigor. It requires a deep dive into the
emotional and sociological dimensions of the topic, making it a task that demands both
sensitivity and scholarly prowess.

Effective Our Current Proposal Forms Are At Gathering...
unprofitability of the portfolio could be due to the underwriters not gathering
enough relevant risk details when underwriting the risk, this can lead to under
pricing or even losing out on desirable risks due to overpricing. I would consider
how effective our current proposal forms are at gathering relevant risk
information. Proposal forms are a valuable tool in gathering risk information, not
just financial details of the proposer but also risk management procedures. The
proposal forms may currently place too much focus on share price and profits of
the client and not enough on management processes, these factors are important
when rating D O risks. Are our policies competitive with other insurers in the
market? D O insurers are facing very intense competition and are under pressure to
ensure that they can differentiate themselves from the rest of the market. The
market has become saturated with insurers offering cover and there is ample
market capacity for insureds to shop around. (CII study text on Liability
insurances, 2016). The market capacity means buyers of this type of cover can
expect broad terms and conditions at attractive prices. The policies we are currently
offering may be uncompetitive in terms of premium and cover offered in
comparison to the rest of the market. Claim trends and internal overhead costs When
assessing the portfolio of D O cover I would firstly establish why it is currently
unprofitable. If profit margins are not being met it is likely
In Today’S World, We Have A Huge Database That We
All Refer
In today s world, we have a huge database that we all refer to as the internet. So
many things can be found on the internet such as how to walk your dog or how to
fix your broken TV. There are several networks on the internet that many teenagers
use to communicate with each other or to simply talk about their day. These
networks are known as social media networks, like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
On many of these social media networks, there are many issues involving the privacy
of their users. Occasionally, users may find that someone has hacked their account
and is posting false information or that somebody is trying to catfish them. The term
catfish can be defined as a person who uses someone else s identity, or creates their...

Gonchar states, Three quarters said they approved of the government s tracking
phone records of Americans suspected of terrorist activity. Nearly the same number
approved of the United States monitoring the Internet activities of people living in
foreign countries (Gonchar 6). Based on another article published on a website titled
Monthly Review, Lauren Regan talks about some ways on how the government could
surveillance electronic communications. Email messages can be intercepted and
then reformatted to be sent to the intended recipient or someone else altogether ,
Regan explained. With this being said, Lee Rainie and Mary Madden wrote an
article designed to display some of the feedback from their surveys they conducted
to several Americans. In the survey Americans are divided in their concerns about
government surveillance of digital communications , 17% of Americans said they
are very concerned about government surveillance of Americans data and electronic
communication; 35% say they are somewhat concerned ; 33% say they are not very
concerned and 13% say they are not at all concerned about the surveillance (Rainie
/ Madden 4). These surveys do show that the majority of the survey takers feel that
their privacy is being invaded by government surveillance but there is no possible
way that we can determine that the statistics are accurate because Rainie and Madden
did not specify what group of Americans took part in this
Raising Medical Malpractice
The rising price of health care and the amount of medical malpractice claims being
filed sparked a start to this controversial topic. The average price of medical care
has gone up roughly 20 percent between the late 80s and the early 2000s (The risk
authority, 2014). And the amount of medical malpractice claims in the same
twenty years has arisen from one person filing a claim to five people filing the
same claim, in a small ratio (Doyle, n.d.). The rising cost of medical expenses is
feeding off of the increase in the amount of these cases filed every year. There are
other reasons for the medical cost to rise such as the new expensive treatments and
medications. But these new innovations are also raising the amount medical
malpractice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As medical innovations advance throughout time, the quality of medicine and care is
increasing along with the costs of health care because of the amount of medical
malpractice suits filed. And each with their increasingly steep, positive
association, rising quickly, feed off of each other giving a negative impact on the
people needing this care. According to National Health Expenditures, in the year
2016 health care spending sky rocked increasing by 4.3 percent, this is an average
of more than $10,000 per person and as a whole $3.3 trillion in the U.S. (Joyce,
2016). These increasing prices gives horrible news for the majority of U.S.
citizens, the average of more than $10,000 per person can be detrimental to
anyone. People just don t have this kind of money to drop on health care. The
average income for one person is just over $80,000. This means that for the family
of four (two parents, two children), this amount of money is a quarter of their
income before taxes, food, and other necessities. The non conquencidental cause of
the rise in the price of health care is the increasing amount of medical malpractice
claims. A graph from The Risk Authority Medical Malpractice Trend Review states
that, for a large case between the late 1980s and the early 2000s the amount of
cases rose roughly 20 percent, this means that for every one person in the late
1980s that filed a claim, in the early 2000s five people filed a medical malpractice
claim (Doyle, n.d.). The increasing amount of medical malpractice claims is rising
the price of health care for everyone. This is because the doctors have to pay for
these cases, and they are paying for them out of pocket, even if it is found to not be
medical malpractice, they still have to pay for the court fees out of pocket. To make
up for the court fees and payouts, they raise their costs. This
Accounting Principles
In the U.S., Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are accounting rules used to
prepare, present, and report financial statements for a wide variety of entities,
including publicly traded and privately held companies, non profit organizations, and
governments. The term is usually confined to the United States; hence it is
commonly abbreviated as US GAAP or simply GAAP. However, in the theoretical
sense, Generally Accepted Accounting Principlesencompass the entire industry of
accounting, and not only the United States. Outside the academic context, GAAP
means US GAAP. The following are basic objectives of the GAAP: provide
information that is useful to present to potential investors, creditors, and other
individuals in making rational investment and credit, provide information about
economic resources, the claims to those resources, and the changes in them, assist in
making financial decisions, assist in making long term decisions, improve the
performance of the business, and maintain records. IFRS are used in many parts of
the world, including the European Union, India, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia,
Pakistan, GCC countries, Russia, South Africa, Singapore, and Turkey. As of August
2008, more than 113 countries around the world, including all of Europe, currently
require or permit IFRS reporting and 85 require IFRS reporting for all domestic,
listed companies according to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. It is
generally expected that IFRS adoption

Emmily Rose St. Vincent de Paul, a orphanage in Paris France is not a pleasant
place to live, as Emmily Rose found out the hard way. Emmily Rose was what she
thought, a normal orphan. Her parents died in what she assumed was a shooting.
Emmily was often punished for no good reason by Madam Laroose and was the
worst treated orphan at the orphanage and she never knew why, until one day an
odd visitor came to see Emmily. Now she was training with the best wizard in the
world and was becoming a witch. She will never forget the day when Alicia, a

Imagery In In Cold Blood
Imagery in In Cold Blood describes a deeper meaning from Perry Smith to Nancy s
diary, there are different types of imagery to convey different messages. From
auditory imagery to Visual imagery, even though there are different types of
imagery, the one that is the most present in the book would have to be visual
imagery. Imagery is the use of words that can effectively convey an image using
different senses to convey the same or different ideas. I think Capote wrote this
novel to give some insight on the criminal mind. In the book cold blood Capote
shows Dick as an cold but calculated murder with a good motive but Perry Smith is
a different case. Capote is more sympathetic toward Perry Smith than Dick, we know
this because he describes
Research Aspects Of Water Quality
Introduction
1.1Purpose of the Report
The purpose of this investigation is to research aspects of water quality such as
guidelines for water quality, water quality parameters, contaminants that effect water
quality, water quality tests and catchment area influences. Samples from the Dee
River, from above and below the former Mount Morgan mine site, will be tested and
compared in terms of pH level, conductivity and water hardness. The links that exist
between pH levels and water hardness will also be investigated. These three variables
have dramatic influences on the water quality of the Dee River which will be
discussed throughout the investigation.
1.2Water Quality
Water is a fundamental resource which is essential to human life... Show more

Water quality protects and maintains public health, provides stable habitats for
ecosystems, plays a major role in the agriculture and mining industries and contributes
to recreation and tourism.
Because water is not pure, except in its vapour form, it is affected by a range of
different parameters. For example, agriculture, urban, recreation, industrial uses can
alter the quality as well as the modification of natural stream flows by man made
infrastructure and the weather, in particular the wrath of droughts.
Water is generally at a higher quality higher in the river, the best water quality is
typically found in the headwaters. The quality often declines as rivers flow through
regions where land and water use are intense and where pollution from industry
increases.
1.2.1Water Hardness
Water hardness is typically known as the amount of minerals present in an aqueous
solution. It specifically looks at the amounts of dissolved calcium and magnesium in
the water. Hard water generally has high levels of dissolved minerals whilst soft
water has low levels.
According to South East Water, the general guidelines classifications for soft water
is 0 to 60 mg/L (milligrams per litre) of
A Day in Ancient Rome
If I had to choose an ancient time or civilization to live in I would choose Rome. I
would choose Rome because I find their lifestyle to be more down to earth then
most other ancient civilizations, specifically the Greeks. Their artwork, building,
and excellent military are major points of interest to me. Further, in examining
what daily life would be like for me in that time I chose to research both the life of a
patrician, or upper class man, and the life of a soldier. In the following paragraphs I
will try to depict what life was like in ancient Romefor both an upper class/patrician
man and/or a Roman soldier. I will cover activities such as eating habits, clothing,
housing, marriage and family life, and hobbies.
For starters Rome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of these houses were decorated with paintings right on the walls and
even sometimes artwork on the floor as well. Homes however, usually had little to
no furniture and bare, sometimes even dirt floors. Most of these homes were
equipped with bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and an atrium for family time.
Yet, only the richest citizens of this society had toilets and baths in their home.
Because of this Romans relied heavily on public baths. At first thought these public
baths might seem inconvenient and unsanitary. However, the Romans viewed
them as quite the opposite. These public bath houses were looked upon as a place
not just to bath but to shop, read, get your hair cut, or even eat. They were so
popular that at one time there were more then 800 public baths in Rome (Dupont
262). Both men and women enjoyed these bath houses and, most, on a daily basis.
The only stipulation was separate hours for both men and women. After a bath,
your average patrician man might be headed for the forum which was the major
marketplace and center of commerce in Rome. You could do almost all your
errands their including: banking, shopping, and trading. In addition to your
errands you might even be able to sit down and read a paper or listen to a local
speaker. These forums also were cites for religious activities which were very
common in Rome as there were many gods. These gods were usually worshipped in
Temples which were widespread
Pros And Cons Of Corn
It was in 1826 when French physician and dietitian Anthelme Brillat Savarin wrote,
Dis moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que to es, Tell me what you eat, and I will
tell you what you are. (Brillat Savarin 1825) If this idea that we are what we eat is
true when what we are as Americans living in the United Statesis corn. Corn is the
largest commodity crop grown in the U.S., it is turned into the cheapest and most
consumed sweetener, high fructosecorn syrup, it finds its way into 75% of the
products in the average grocery store, and unlike its ancestor from southern
Mexico the corn we grow today has close to zero nutritional value. It is estimated
by the National Corn Growers Association that the average American consumes 25
pounds of corn each year. When one thinks about corn consumption, they tend to
think about products such as sweet corn, corn flakes, popcorn, or corn oil.
(National Corn Growers Association) However corn is found in many more
products such as, soda, candy, breakfast cereals, yogurt, sauces, beef, chips and
pretty much anything else you can find that is both sweet and cheap. The hidden
corn in our diet leaves the uniformed consumer at risk of serious health issues. The
large scale of corn production in the United States directly correlates with the
unhealthy eating habits and the alarming percentage of obesity in America. Corn is
in nearly everything we eat and we don t even know about it. Why do we grow so
much corn in the U.S.? The answer is

social values, beliefs and/or events that contribute or have contributed to the cultural
identity of our country.

I have chosen is The Water Diviner. It is about one of the ordinary Australian bloke

empower and recognise those who feel as though they exist at the bottom of
society. This term has seen recently used in mainstream politics to describe a
demographic section of the Australian people . In the film one could see this in
multiple places as in the case of 3 brothers even though they are unimportant and
insignificant to the overall war but still the dad and some of the other characters
cared about them to go through thousands of dead bodies to find them. Dad went
into so much trouble by travelling from Australia to Turkey and asked for
permission to travel to Gallipoli but it was denied to him. Hence, he paid a
fisherman to get him to Gallipoli on boat. When he reached there, he asked other
Australian and Turkey soldiers to help him to find his three sons bodies but nobody

insignificant person s son. Then another soldier said that he was the only father who

Speech Censorship
Free Speech Regulations With The Use Of Censorship The use of censorship when
it comes to free speech is extremely present in today s society. However, freedom of
speech has caused vast problems in our history s past. Censorship has helped regulate
free speech, acting as a barrier to various societies that make up the American culture.
Hate speechhas created various stereotypes which lead to violence, hence censorship
should be implemented in order to prevent these issues, whether on campuses, in the
media or even in religious settings. Throughout this essay, I will be focusing on
various topics regarding how censorship can prevent hate speech towards
communities that coincide with violence within the American society and explore
different ways to respond when hate speech is directed towards a community. In
America s past history, the offensive speech that was present in classic literature, as
well as films containing controversial content, making them socially unacceptable or
racist in today s society. I believe the use of censorship should be implemented in
current literature, films and amongst the media, which can prevent hate speech and
racial slurs. However, I believe that literature or films shouldn t be revised or have
present censorship applied as it acts a representation of what the cultural atmosphere
was during that specific time of publication. I consider the unedited original version a
glimpse into the past. Further, I believe that these controversial
The Idea Of Chipotle Company
I.Overview
The idea of Chipotle started with its founder, chairman and co CEO, Steve Ells.
His idea was to offer higher quality food, combined with the speed and convenience
of fast food, giving birth to a new trend: fast casual . Chipotle offers a focused menu
of burritos, tacos, burrito bowls (a burrito without the tortilla) and salads made from
fresh, high quality raw ingredients, prepared using classic cooking methods and
served in a distinctive atmosphere.
Chipotle opened with a single restaurant in 1993, in 1998 McDonald s made an
investment that allowed Chipotle to grow from 14 stores to about 500 stores in 7
years. McDonalds was a major contributor to Chipotle s success, notwithstanding
McDonalds decision to divest its stake in 2006, Chipotle has been able to maintain a
robust growth ever since and became a huge success. Today Chipotle operates more
than 2,000 restaurants, including 26 Chipotle restaurants outside the US and 14
ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen restaurants, and is an investor in an entity that
owns and operates four Pizzeria Locale restaurants.
One of the success drivers of Chipotle is their emphasis on simplicity and high quality
through their vision of Food with Integrity, where they claim to use the best
ingredients that are sustainably grown and raised responsibly. Coupled with the
overall social trend of more conscious food consumers seeking for healthier options,
Chipotle s offering seems like the perfect formula for growth.

Theme Of Ghost In The Shell
Ghost in the Shell (Oshii Mamoru, 1995) is a substantial film that depicts a future
where man and machine are intertwined. Set in the year 2029 A.D., East Asia has
become a corporate society that has flourished in the advancement of technology.
Presented with a future of advanced cybernetics and sophisticated networks, the
mainstream for many in this progressive culture is body modification and
augmentation. The meld between man and machine has resulted in the creation of
what is known throughout the film as a cyborg. Since everything is technology based,
including the majority of the population, the need for cyber security has increased.
Organizations, such as the Department of the Interior, were created by the
government in order to be better prepared for cybercrime or terrorist attacks. The

Comparing The Positive And Negative Outcomes
The positive outcome is protecting the general public, including HCWs and their
families, patients receiving care from these HCWs, from influenza.
The negative outcome is firstly, HCWs lose autonomy to choose whether to receive
vaccination; secondly, the vaccination may not be effective and will create false
impression of protection.
By comparing the positive and negative outcomes, the positive outcome (for the
general public) outweigh negative outcome (for few individual).
The positive outcomes are: protecting the general public, including HCWs and their
families, patients receiving care from HCWs from influenza; the education on flu
prevention, such as hand washing and proper isolation, may be generalized to other
disease prevention for hospital setting; employees will not feel the pressure to
vaccinate against their wills.

By comparing the positive and negative outcomes, positive outcomes still outweigh
the negative outcomes. But the cost benefit ratio may be less than option 1.

their wills.
The negative outcomes are: general public, including HCWs and their families,

influenza; health care cost will increase due to higher morbidity and mortality rate due
to influenza.

The End Of The Traditional Family Era
The End of the Traditional Family Era Families have changed significantly over the
last decades, leading the ideal traditional American family to become, if not already,
extinct. Although popular in the 1950 s, a traditional family is no longer sought after
as modern families have evolved to incorporate diversity and acceptance into the
household structure. In present day, the majority of households encompass non
traditional families, accordion families, divorce, and modern technology. Traditional
families have been thought to consist of a heterosexual male and female joined
together in marriage. However in modern society, the terms marriage and familyare
not limited to a specific definition. Gay marriages have led the revolution in
changing the concept of families. From New York s Marriage Equality Act in 2011,
to the Supreme Court s ruling of legalizing gay marriage throughout the United
States in 2015, marriage equality has come a long way. Same sex couples have the
opportunity to marry their significant other, while also having the option to grow
their family through adoption or artificial insemination. In Visual Portfolio, the TV
show, Modern Family, introduces a contemporary version of Norman Rockwell s
Freedom From Want (Colombo et al. 59). Modern Family s picture features a same

Essay on An Analysis of the Jungle by Upton Sinclair
In the early 1900 s life for America s new Chicago immigrant workers in the meat
packing industry was explored by Upton Sinclair s novel The Jungle. Originally
published in 1904 as a serial piece in the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason,
Sinclair s novel was initially found too graphic and shocking by publishing firms
and therefore was not published in its complete form until 1906. In this paper, I
will focus on the challenges faced by a newly immigrated worker and on what I
feel Sinclair s purpose was for this novel. In the early 1900 s a newly arrived
immigrant worker faced numerous challenges that had to be overcome. Often times
literally arriving with the clothes on their back and a few meager dollars, it was
crucial for these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While not all of these examples have a direct monetary impact, each of the dealings
associated with them does which in turn motivates the parties involved to make
decisions and perform actions outside the normal scope for their character. The
third challenge faced by new immigrants was acquiring and then keeping steady
work. Although the Packingtown in Chicago was in a constant state of activity,
the sheer number of available workers and the rule of supply and demand made it
difficult for some to find work. It was not uncommon for some workers to stand at
the plant doors for weeks before being selected. And once a person was chosen to
be a worker, they had to labor at a fever pitch to make sure they were retained. That
being said, the worker s problems did not end once they found steady employment.
Employers were harsh and unforgiving in how they treated their employees. For
example, if an employee was one minute late they were penalized an hours pay. If
they were 20 minutes late they forfeited their employment. Worse yet, if they were
injured or hurt on the job the company takes no responsibility and the worker is
forced to recuperate on their own time without pay (i.e.; when Jurgis sprained his
ankle and had to recuperate at home for 3 months). The final insult to the workers
was that even if they were always on time, worked hard and maintained their health
they could lose their job due to the
George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion And Willy Russell s...
Explore how Change is presented in George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion and Willy
Russell s Educating Rita.
Educating Rita is a modern adaptation of Pygmalion, which is based on a figure in
Greek mythology when a sculptor named Pygmalion carves a woman out of ivory
but ends up falling in love with her. These two books follow the journeys of two
women, one in the early 1900s named Eliza and one in the 1960s named Rita. They
both enlist the help of teachers to try and guide them into a higher class of society,
but the teaching styles, and consequences are different in the two plays. There are
two angles of change that I will take. One is how and why Rita and Eliza change
throughout the novel and the changes experienced by the characters.
The teaching style for change in Educating Rita is focused on exam technique. Frank
teaches Rita how to pass her exams, teaching the rules of the game , and so Rita can
learn about literature and culture in order so that she can converse and talk in a
higher class. However, this is an extremely hard task, as Rita wants to learn
everything, yet she had an almost non existent education; Frank says you ve barely
had a basic schooling, you ve never passed an exam in your life. This means that
Frank has to start from scratch and give Rita basic schooling like sentence structure
and exam technique and so forth. Frank also has to change Rita s personal and
emotional responses to books and literature into analytical and robotic essays that

Children s Morals From Their Parents
Many children ask multiple questions every single day. Many of them are
lighthearted simple questions; some of them hide deeper meanings that provoke
serious thoughts. The author Robert Coles finds that many children acquire morals
through their parents. As he interviews children, he finds that less parents instill
morals into their children than he thought. Although some children look to others for
their morals, most of children gather their morals from their parents. Most children
look to their parents for guidance in morals, but many parents fail to offer the
guidance that children need. Many parents try offer an answerto their child s question
but fall short in their explanation. We didn t know what to do; the teacher kept
telling us that we should be good and obey the law, but my daddy said the law was
wrong. (Coles, ,440) The kid wondered about the approach his teacher presented to
him. The teacher stated that they needed to follow the law, and the teacher insisted
on it. However, the boy s father thought otherwise. The boy s father believed that
the law was wrong. This causes confusion for the child having two different
opinions from two different people he respects. Parents might also try to answer the
question in a few short words rather than take their time giving a full explanation.
Two miners got killed. My daddy said it was their own fault because they ll be
working and get careless. When my motherasks if there was anything wrong with the

Justice And Justice In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson
In the novel, Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, it is extremely apparent that there is a
link between poverty, wealth, injustice, and justice. This book incorporates a strong
theme of poverty and how it relates to justice, as well as injustice. Furthermore, it
very apparently works to explain and provide examples of problems within the justice
system, and the urgency that these be corrected. One major problem being poverty in
relation to obtaining justice. This being said, throughout my personal reading of the
book, I have come to agree with Stevenson s statement, the opposite of poverty is not
wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson 18).
Walter McMillian, a man falsely convicted for a crime, experienced an immense
amount of injustices originally fueled from his race and societal status.
I felt the need to explain to people what Walter had taught me. Walter made me
understand why we have to reform a system of criminal justice that continues to treat
people better if they are rich and guilty than if they are poor and innocent. A system
that denies the poor the legal help they need, that makes wealth and status more
important than culpability, must be changed. (Stevenson 313)
What I have interpreted this as, is the court system is trying to get through these
things as quickly as possible, as well as try to convict someone as quickly as possible
to give the community a sense of reassurance that a murderer is off the streets.
Furthermore, if the
Samurai Dbq
Who would come out victorious in a one on one battle between two of the fiercest
warriors in history, a knight or a samurai? Feudalism began in Japan and Europe
when landowners gave land to warriors in order for protection. The knight or
samurai would then let peasants live on their land. The peasant would pay for it by
giving them a portion of their crops. In a one on one battle, a samuraiwould win
because of their way of living, training, and armor/weapons.
The first way that samurais were superior in battle through their way of living. In
document A1 written by Christine de Pizan, it states, Therefore it is not doing
wrong if he does for himself the same right he is obliged to observe for one other
which is to say, he avoids his own death. This shows that in the midst of battle, a
knight would be more focused on surviving than trying to kill the samurai, therefore
he would be more cautious and have more defense than offense. The knight would be
more careful while in battle to try to make sure he would get out alive. An additional
piece of evidence that supports this claim is in document A2 written by Yamamoto

In document C1 written by PBS, it states, the young warriors practiced kendo but
also Confucianism, loyalty to one s master, respect for superiors, ethical behavior,
and self discipline. This shows that samurai did not only practice physically but also
mentally. Mental training would put them in the correct mindset in a fight and their
fighting skills with many different weapons would place them with high advantage.
Another piece of evidence that supports the claim is in document C2 written by
PBS it says they would go with their master knight into battle, dress him, feed him,
and care for his horses in all hopes he would be deemed worthy. This proves that a
knight was busy with chores, therefore he had less physical
The Problem of Obesity

The Problem of Obesity Obesity is a major problem in American. Year after year,
new diets are published, and new medications are hailed as wonder drugs that will
take weight off with little physical effort, yet the problem still exists unabated. In
testimony before the US Congress, Berzins (2001) asserted that, [weight] is a
complex result of heredity, culture and lifestyle. According to Rosin (2004), About
one third of the U.S. population is 20 percent or more overweight and is therefore at

They assume that if the number of sidewalks and bike paths are increased, people
will be more inclined to exercise and drive less. However, just because more of
these will be built does not ensure they will be used by the public. They believe the
government should impose a tax on food they deem detrimental to our health, regulate
the ways this food is advertised, and limit its accessibility. However, at a time when
both houses of congress are controlled by the Republicans, a party whose
philosophy is they who govern least govern best, it is unrealistic to think that
additional taxes and bureaucracy will be considered an effective strategy. The
authors propose a three step solution to the problem. First, initiate a twinkie tax on
sodas and junk food. Next, the food industry should be regulated, even if it only
comes in the form of banning junk food ads aimed at children. Finally, limit the
places where unhealthy foods are available ...through zoning and planning (2004).
The limitations of these suggestions are numerous. Americans feel overtaxed already,
hence the Republican revolution we have seen in recent years. Secondly, people do
not like being told what is right or wrong for them, which is what regulation
insinuates. Third, in a capitalist society, why should any
Consequences Of The Book Thief
Life takes place through series of causes and effects. For every decision made, a
consequence occurs, either good or bad. In essence, history is an effect, and the
consequences of people s decisions are the cause.
Many would say that death is the ultimate consequence. In the eyes of historians,
only one period of time can truly express death as a worst case scenario come true:
the Holocaust.
After World War 1, Hitler and the Nazi partyrose to power in Germany, and the
world is still feeling the loss that was inflicted during that time. Towards the

Chinese artist, but also depicts the transition of how China s political and cultural
changes throughout time.
Identifying Information Jiang yingwen is a painter, poet and artist who is born on
July 19th 1895 in Shanghai, China. Went to Japan and studied art in 1919, returned
in 1923. He was married when he is 33 to one of his colleagues in Beijing. Upon
marrying, they settled Beijing, Jiang had two sons and one daughter. Jiang passed
away on June 4th 1969 in Beijing.
Living Conditions Born into a middle class family, Jiang s family lives in Song
Jiang one of the suburbs of Shanghai and lived a fairly content life. His father is a
private tutor who teaches painting, poetry and calligraphy. As a result, Jiang is well
mannered and educated. He is exposed to art at an early age, which gave him great
advantage when starting his career as an artist. Jiang s mother was a tailor who
mostly works for upper class clients. This made it easy for the family to make

The Book Of Esther And Women
Her Story: The Book of Esther and Women in the Leadership Role Women have
played important leadership roles throughout history and the biblical story of Esther
is one such example. The Book of Esther is about the fear of a feminine insurrection
against patriarchal order and sacrifice within the community. The objective of this
paper is to explore how the world s view of a women s role in leadershiphas evolved
from the third century BCE to present day by examining the biblical understanding of
leadership regarding Estherand Vashti through a historical, literary, and contemporary
perspective.
Leadership through a historical perspective Set in the Persian Empire of King
Ahasuerus (486 465 BCE), the story of Esther reveals the defenselessness of women
within an already vulnerable community of diasporic Jews (Leith, 2010, p. 709). In
this society, women were the lowest members of the community, rarely had control
of their own lives, and depended on the male relatives in the community to take
care of them. Traditionally, the definition of leadership, The ability to make
strategic decisions and use communication effectively to mobilize group members
toward achieving a common goal usually describes a position held by males
(Engleberg, Wynn, 2013, p. 100). However, the leadership role can be performed by
anyone willing to take on the job. It can be a matter of being in right place at the
right time, Very often, the most effective leadership occurs when a leader

My Brother s Success As A Doctor
I start my morning off as usual, rushing out the door so my dad could drive me to
school. Yet as much as I love him, he makes multiple contradicting comments about
my school life and my overall personality in one sitting. I was always told by my
older sister and mom to let it all go in one ear and out the other. The more I would
try not to listen, the more it didn t work. He nagged me yet again about my future.
The man obviously would not accept anything outside of the medical field, for that
s all he talked about. He rambled on about my uncle s success as a doctor, my
mother studying to become a nurse, my older sister studying pharmaceutical
education. It seemed he loved the sound of his own voice. He continued to explain
that he only wanted me to be prepared for the future. However, I already had a plan.
In spite of that, he would never approve. He wasn t a huge fan of psychology, nor
was he ever going to allow his children in the art field that did not pay well. I
wondered if I would ever be enough. I continued to think that I would have to
change my route again. I was lucky he didn t go on about my weaknesses. He would
usually rant about my activity levels, the need to socialize outside of school, study
habits, classes that matter or don t matter according to him. I sat quietly beside him,
knowing how much I kept to myself. A child is told they can trust a parent, but that s
not always the case. I feared disappointing anybody, no matter who it is. Walking into

The Effects of Violence in the Media
Violence in the Media
It has been a long day and you decide to sit down to relax while watching some
television. You turn on the TV and begin flipping through channels. On one channel,
you see some random news report on a tragic school shooting that occurred across the
country. Changing to another, you might catch the last 30 minutes of a slasher,
horror flick. The last channel you come across, before turning off the TV, features a
popular television show where the main cast fights a new villain.
The common theme that anybody would see here, between the latest movie and local
news report, would be violence. Some violence might be animated or meant to be
comical in some way whereas other forms are highly graphic, containing a large
amount of blood and detail. It is not unheard of for most members of society to have
been exposed to violence through the media. Children, teenagers, or young adults
may witness it in the latest most popular video game. Adults may watch it in their
favorite scary movies or sci fi television show. Are children more prone to violent
outburst because they are Rated M for the violent content? Do these various forms of

This paper is going to discuss violence in media through some of the most common
presentations. Movies, television shows, video games, and news coverage will be
the main presentations of violence in the media. After the various media is covered, I

Since the focus of this paper is international theme parks, only a brief history of the
American theme parks will be discussed. Walt Disney thought of the idea of the
theme park one day when he took his daughters to a local park and watched them as
they rode the merry go round (Disney, 2009). Disney wanted a place where children
and their parents could have fun and enjoy the rides together (Disney, 2009).
Disneyland was, thus,
Conceived as a celebration of America s past and as a paean to its progress, or as
Walt Disney put it: the older generation can recapture the nostalgia of the days gone
by, and the younger generation can savor the challenge of the future (Bryman, 1999,
p.31).
As Bryman argues, Disneyland was designed to make the older generation feel
nostalgic. This feeling of nostalgia is created on Main Street, USA and Frontierland
which represent America s past. Disneyland was also created to capture the
imagination of children as seen in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California on July 17th, 1955. Walt Disney s theme
park idea soon expanded past what he had space to build in California which
prompted the building of the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The
Magic Kingdom, the first theme park built at Disney World, opened after his death
in October of 1971 (Disney, 2009). The feeling of nostalgia is recreated and
expanded in the Magic Kingdom with the addition of a land named Liberty Square .

Abstract
This paper presents a comparison of mechanical properties of 17 4PH stainless steel
parts built by selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing process with the
wrought 17 4PH stainless steel parts. The microstructure is analyzed using optical
microscope and the mechanical properties are evaluated using tensile testing
according to ASTM E8 standard. Overall, the SLM fabricated samples demonstrated
superior tensile properties and the microstructure is strongly influenced by the SLM
process. The SLM processed specimens showed higher ductility and ultimate tensile
strength than wrought samples.

Dealing With Dragon Quotes
Dealing with Dragons In the novel Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede, the
main character Cimorene is a princess that doesn t pursue the quintessential
princess role in the kingdom. Cimorene s parents did not even respect or value her.
Additionally she want to learn new things, but her society does not allow females
to pursue them. Finally, she is being forced to marry a prince whom she does not
respect. For these reasons Cimorene is justified in ignoring the expected social
norms of her day. On the other hand, others feel that Cimorene should put her
kingdom first and the welfare of her people above her own pleasures. However,
Cimorene is not allowed to pursue things that could help her kingdom such as being

Considering that Cimorene was a satirical princess, most things weren t fitting for
her. For instance, her parents were insisting she marry a prince she did not know,
love, or respect. In the novel on page 7, Cimorene said, I don t want to marry
prince Therandil. This confirms that Cimorene was not a normal princess judging
by her actions. Also this shows that she was justified for leaving Linderwall since
that was her only option in getting out of the marriage..She expressed her feelings
to her parents, but princesses then in that era didn t have a say. Later, she was very

Violently my long black hair swished back and forth as I carried my slender frame
from branch to branch, closer to the dusky sky. Temporarily I rested my bare feet on
the cool rough bark of the white oak tree. Large curving branches intertwined and
carved entrancing patterns in the air. Shells of discarded acorns were scattered across
the branches. The hardy rough texture of the bark felt comforting on my calloused
feet, and just the smallest of movement in the cool wind did the treemake. Up so high
it was amazing the things you could see, I felt big and important. I was the king of
the wood and looked down at my subjects below. Yet small, insignificant I felt as

Reaching out slowly I went to skim the top of the water with my long fingers, before
I could make contact with the pool however, my long wavy ebony hair fell in front
of my face. Plunging into the water. I held my breath in fearful anticipation,
waiting for something to happen. I leaned over the pool watching as my black hair
emerged deeper into the water. Strangely, no ripples danced across the water, and
even stranger, the image of the door was even clear than before. Suddenly, I felt
the grip my knees had in the soft pearly beach surrounding the intriguing pool
begin to slip. Frantically, I waved my arms and tried to lean backwards to resist my
imminent fall into the pool. It was to no avail however, for I was thrust into the
cold water, robbing me of breath. I clawed for the surface, but a mysterious weight
kept pulling me down into the unnatural deep pool. I let out a silent scream and
opened my eyes ignoring the stinging pains of the cold salty water. The inky
darkness I expected gaze upon in my final moments was not there however, instead

Hijab In North America
With the recent interest of the media on the topic of hijab and the oppressive symbol
that it is portrayed to be, I have decided to write my paper on the hijab and what it
means to various Muslim women. This topic is important and worth studying
because most of the information that is relayed about the hijabby the media is not
based on the opinion of Muslim women who actually wear the hijab in North America
. Currently, feminists around the world have started a campaign for a #nohijabday.
Although this movement initially began in order to speak out against the Iranian
government for forcing Iranian women to don the hijab, it quickly spiraled out of
control on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. This event has led to an

According to Blakeman, the women often find their family members limitationss
imposed on them to be lesser to a great extent once they adopt veiling since they are
let alone carry out their duties freely and independently such as moving around in
public without being criticized by other people (36). The act of wearing a hijab by
women as well provides the best exposure for Muslim women to associate and
carry out tasks with their male work colleagues devoid of talked about regarding
their behavior (Omair 424). The hijab, therefore, defines a moral boundary around
the Muslim women as it lays down the tone of interaction with other people as well
as giving a clear indication of how the women wish to be treated, especially by men
colleagues. The hijab, as described earlier, commands respect for the Muslim women
as it exerts a moral demand upon others with the expectation that they will be valued

How to Install a Backerboard in a Shower
A concrete backerboard is required for all tile or natural stone showers. It serves as
a shower wall substrate that will help protect the wood of the wall studs from
moisture. It I snot waterproof but iis installed with a moisture barrier. A benefit of
using cement backerboards is they remain dimensionally stable even when wet so
they do not swell up, which will lessen the occurrence of tile cracking and other
bathroom problems.
You have to make sure your concretebackerboard is properly installed to have a solid
and durable substrate for your tile installation. Take your time when installing the
sheets and ensure that you make it as moisture resistant as possible.
1. Decide if you will go with vertical or horizontal placement when installing your
backerboard in the shower. It really won t affect the outcome, but it is important to
make the process easier. For wide shower areas, it is better to place the boards on
their longest edge. But if it will make the installation more difficult, then run the
sheets with vertically instead. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cover the wall studs in plastic sheeting. This will serve as a moisture barrier for the
wall studs behind the backerboard. Use a utility knife to cut the plastic sheeting
down to size, staple the sheeting into place, then layer them with a waterfall method
(each upper piece drains down onto the next lower sheet, directing the water down
towards the shower pan). Make sure that the shower pan flange is covered by the
lowest edge of the sheeting.
3. Lay out your boards for the best fit on the walls. Measure and mark your pieces,
then make straight cuts using a utility knife and T square that is held against the

Congenital Heart Defects
Congenital abnormalities have become the main cause of heart disease among
children especially in developing countries including Palestine state. Congenital heart
disease is the most frequent form of congenital anomaly in newborn infants, and
accounts for more than a quarter of all serious congenital anomalies worldwide.
Generally, an estimated incidence of eight cases of congenital heartdisease per 1000
live births is internationally accepted as the best approximation. The causes of most
congenital heart defects are not known. (Zaqout, Aslem, Oweida, Al Kahlout, Al
Barqouni, and De Wolf, 2013) About 3 million fetuses and infants are born each year
with major congenital anomaly worldwide. (WHO, 2012) A study

How Is Judah Alike
This paper is on the book Ben Hur and Ben Hur: A Tale of Christ. This is a
wonderful story of a man named Judah as he goes through struggles with his best
friend Messala. Judah must do what must be done to protect his family. Judah goes
through many trials in the story while trying to rival with Messala. Judah s mother
and sister who have gone missing after they were taken prisoners. This paper is on
the differences between the movie and the book.
The movie and the book have many comparisons from the race, to the crucifixion
of Christ. Many similarities include how Judah became a slave, how poetic justice
was served, and that Simonides is crippled. In the story, Tirzah and her mother
have lepersy, they are healed by Christ, and they get to see Judah again and live in
happiness. In the movie and the book, has a man vs man conflict like Messala and
Judah were like brothers, they end up fighting and become enemies, Judah and his
family are taken prisoners. Another conflict is man vs man when Judah is taken as a
galley slave, and the boat is attacked by pirates. A note conflict is man vs self when
Judah is going through an internal conflict about Jesus and if He is the Messiah or
not. When Tirzah and her mother have lepersy is ... Show more content on

The Works Of Antonio Vivaldi
Throughout history, there have been many periods of time where music rose and
fell in favor of the masses. Music was part of life during the old age in many areas
such as religious services or entertainment among the elites. During the late 17th
century which was known as the Baroque period, many famous composers such as
Johann Pachelbel, George Frideric Handel, and Johann Sebastian Bach, Alessandro
Scarlatti, Henry Purcell, and many others that were successful in adapting to the
change of new music style. Among these famous composers, Antonio Vivaldi
stood
out for his unique style of music that innovated and revolutionized the Baroque
period. Antonio Vivaldi was born on March 4, 1678, in Venice, Italy. His father,
Giovanni Battista, was the son of a tailor. He passed away on July 28, 1741 in
Vienna. His father, Giovanni Battista, was born in 1655 in Brescia and moved to
Venice in 1666. Giovani married Camilla Calicchio in 1676. Together they had
nine children which Vivaldi was the oldest. Giovanni was a professional violinist
who worked full time at St. Marks (Green). Due to his father s work and influence
to music, Vivaldi got involved as part of his life. Vivaldi was ordained as a priest
though at an early age, then he chose to follow his passion for music (Antonio
Vivaldi). Though he did not live for very long, he was well known for many
fantastic work and composers looked up to him. Early in his life, Vivaldi learned
how to play violin from his father. Through his

In this essay you will notice the differences and similarities between The Charge of
the Light Brigade and Dulce Et Decorum Est . The Charge of the Light Brigade was
written in nineteenth century by Alfred Lord Tennyson. In contrast, Dulce Et
Decorum Est was written in the twentieth century by Wilfred Owen. The main
similarity we have observed is that they both capture war time experiences. However,
the poets present these events using their own style, and the effect is two completely
different observations of war.
The themes of the two poems are portrayed in very distinctive ways. The Charge of
the Light Brigade explains in a majestic approach, that fighting in war is something
every soldier should honour. The poem is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tennyson, not being present during the Crimean war is a very significant point as it
changes the perspective of his poem and makes it seem as though Owen s poem is
informing us with believable facts. Therefore, Dulce Et Decorum Est seems more
powerful of the two because it appears more truthful to real life and what war is
really like.
Gas shells dropping softly behind, Incurable sores on innocent tongues, ( Dulce Et
Decorum Est , lines 8 and 24, Wilfred Owen).
This quote links to the point of brutality on many lives and indicates the innocence
of the soldiers. When analysing the poem it is made aware that Owen presents the
reader with details of what people felt and heard. The words dropping softly behind
suggest that the soldiers had heard the gas shells so much that they had become used
to it. It also points to the fact that their trenches were based so far, that they were
distant from all the shelling. Also Owen says innocent tongues as the soldiers did not
deserve this. This links back to the fact that everyone should know the truth about
war, if everyone knew then nobody would make the mistake of going there and dying
in such a horrific state.
Both Owen and Tennyson have different
The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls Essay
The book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is a memoir about her struggles
through life. She explains her struggles and how she worked to overcome all of
them. Her family was constantly on the move, because they could never keep the
house or the dad would lose his job. Her first memory was when she was burned
from cooking hot dogs and her parents took her out of the hospital before it was
time. They would constantly struggle with hunger and while the mom had a
teaching license she never wanted to work, all she wanted to do was paint and
write. They could never really afford much for christmas and all they really had
was each other. While my struggles may seem like nothing compared to hers, I have
had to overcome many things. Track and field has been my biggest success and my

Throwing is the one of the few things you could say that I am successful at. I have
been around the sport and great throwers all my life. The hardest thing is knowing
I will never reach my goals like they did. I have been throwing since the seventh
grade. For some reason my dad never had me throw before then and I kind of
wished that he did. I wish that I had started throwing sooner so I could have been a
better thrower from the start. I still remember my first track meet like it was
yesterday. The night before my dad had told me that he wanted me to be the best
and would not accept anything else. Well, being twelve at the time that was a lot
of pressure. I was already stressed out because my very first track meet was the next
day. It was not like volleyball and basketball when my first game or match had been

Goldilocks Vs. Adobe Photoshop
Here s a suggestion: Why don t we take a page from Goldilocks and the Three
Bears and learn successful editing by processing our images three times to create
the not too hot, not too cold, but ahhh, this is just right version of our images. For
anyone growing up in suburbia, taking Little Red Riding Hood or Hansel Gretel too
literally may not seem relevant; but as an adult, the more images I process, the more
the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears rings true.
If Goldilocks used Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, she would
process her images at least three times to _ nd the just right version. I can hear her
saying, This image is too _ at, this image is too contrast y, and this image is just
right. Using the Goldilocks image editing method of processing your images several
times will result in more interpretations and discoveries as you explore and wander
off the beaten path.
The Goldilocks method
Using the Goldilocks method to create the just right image requires you to process the
image at least twice in Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom and then create additional
interpretations in Photoshop. I call the first version natural and use it to render the
scene as I remember it with either Camera Raw or as in this example, Lightroom, with
white balance, exposure, and optical enhancements, such as input sharpening and
chromatic aberration removal.
Because of the late afternoon/early evening winter light, white balancing the image

Fun House, By Alison Bechdel
Fun House, the autobiography written by author Alison Bechdel centers around her
life growing up and the death of her father. The autobiography is in a graphic novel
format that artistically depicts relevant events that occurred in Bechdel s life when
she was growing up. The novel shows the problems that dysfunctional families have
in a realistic way without sugar coating anything. The plot of Fun House centers
around Bechdel s life and what it was like living in a household where the parents did
not pay that much attention to their children and focused on other things, where the
father who is supposed to the head of the household, has a dark secret concerning his
sexual orientation, where the protagonist (Alison) is dealing with gender... Show more

On page 16, Bechdel says that her father [did] not make things, but [made] things
appear the be what they were not which proves that her father wanted to keep up the
appearances of a perfect family with no problems. In my opinion, I think that it is
really sad and awful that as a child, Alison did not get the love and attention that she
should have received from her father because he was too obsessed with other things
such as decorating their house and making sure that they seemed like the perfect
family even though realistically they were not.
In Chapter 2, Alison talks about her father s death. Her father got hit by a truck
and died, and she thinks it was a suicide but there was no evidence suggesting that
and the only one who thinks that is Alison. In addition to that in Chapter 4: In the
Shadow of Young Girls in Flowers, Bechdel talks more in depth about her father s
death and describes what occurred. She explains that her father had been doing
some gardening just before he died and that was the cause of his death. According
to Alison, her father was doing yard work and as he was crossing the road with to
throw away brush that he was carrying, then suddenly he jumps backwards into the
road right as a truck is coming and it runs him over (89). The man who was driving
the truck that hit Mr. Bechdel explains that it was an accident and that Alison s father
did not jump into the road on purpose, but that he seemed

Abstract: With globalization English has become the official language of the world.
With about 71 million Marathi speaking people and varied works in Marathi
literature and novels calls for translation. A system is proposed that translates simple

5.Scope of Use
5.1.Advantages
India is a country with a large population well versed with vernacular languages but
not fluent in English. A Marathi to English translation system will be helpful to the
Marathi speaking population who need to converse in English. Lot of documents,
scripts and scriptures in Marathi also need to be translated to English and this process
is manual. Marathi to English translation system will help to automate this process
and help reduce manual work related to translation.
5.2.Limitations
Considering the number of rules [2] to be included in the system, it is not possible
to achieve perfect translations for each and every sentence. There might be some
disambiguation present in some sentence translations. It is also language specific and
cannot be used for translation of any other language pair. It is also limited to
sentences in the domain of the project and cannot be used for generalized
Consequences Of A Christmas Carol
Christmas is the time of year where everyone seems to be happy no matter what is
going on currently in the world around them. But not for Ebenezer Scrooge.
Everyone makes mistakes, but some that Scrooge had made, made a big impact on
his life. Because of his lack to spread kindness and charity, Scrooge s consequences
were three lovely visits from the Spirit of ChristmasPast, Present and Yet to Come
that made Scrooge reflect on his previous decisions so he can have an even greater
future. When Scrooge s partner, Marley, passes away, he lives an even more
greedy and selfish life, finding another reason to strongly hate Christmas. Thus
one part of why his poor action will provide a future consequence. Secondly, since
Scrooge had been so selfish to everyone, including the whole town of London, it is
pretty certain that all of London dislikes Scrooge. Although the Spirit of Christmas
Yet to Come shows Scrooge that if he does indeed stay selfish, he most certainly
will not be missed when he passes away. Lastly, his mistake in life was from his
past when he decides to worry and obsess over making money and being successful
rather than making sure he and his fiance s future was more secure rather than secure
finances. A Christmas Caroldisplays actions and consequences depend on one s own
actions and decisions whether good or bad. First, Scrooge s Co Worker, Jacob Marley
passes away on Christmas Eve one year and will never come back. Scrooge continues
on with his life, although
Marker Assisted Breeding
Selective breeding is the process by which humans select organisms with desirable
traits and breed them together so the trait appears in the next generation. The process
is repeated over many generations until the characteristic becomes common.
Selective breeding now often uses reproductive technologies, such as artificial
insemination and marker assisted selection, so that the desirable characteristics of
one male can be passed onto many offspring. This increases the rate at which the
desirable trait is passed to progeny. Marker assisted selection is a molecular
technique used to screen a genome for genetic markers that indicate desirable traits.

In these times, farmers selectively bred sheep to make them grow fleece from nose
to their toes and thicker coats. They did this thinking that the sheep having a heavier
fleece would bring them greater returns. Because the sheep had so much wool, this
meant more work for the farmers due to them having to dag and crutch the sheep
where the wool becomes dirty. This added to production costs and this wool has
lower value so farmers have started selectively breeding sheep so they only have
wool in the areas that are going to be worth the most money and get them the best
returns possible. Their aim was to remove all the unnecessary parts of the sheep
and fleece to create sheep that were more productive and easier and cheaper to
maintain easy care sheep. (3*). Easy care sheep have been selectively bred to have
the traits of bare backside, bare belly, bare legs, short tail and bare head. These
traits, such as bare backside and short tail reduce dags which therefore reduces the
risk of them getting fly strike, flies are attracted to the dags. Flystrike occurs when
flies lay maggots in the fleece and then move onto the skin and damage it. The bare
backside and short tail can minimise the risk of this and therefore reduce the time and
cost farmers may have to take to deal with this

Single Parenting Essay. Check my Essay: Single parent struggle argumentative essay

  • 1. Single Parenting Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of single parenting presents a unique set of challenges, blending emotional depth with sociological insight. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between addressing the personal struggles faced by single parents and analyzing the broader societal implications. Delving into the intricacies of single parenting involves navigating a delicate path, as one must tread carefully to avoid oversimplification or, conversely, drowning in complexity. The emotional aspect demands a nuanced understanding of the experiences of single parents, acknowledging both the resilience and the challenges they encounter. On the sociological front, one must explore the impact of single parenting on children, family structures, and societal norms. The research process can be intensive, requiring a thorough examination of academic studies, statistical data, and personal narratives. Moreover, crafting a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates personal anecdotes, empirical evidence, and expert opinions can be challenging. Ensuring a logical flow while maintaining the reader's engagement is crucial. The essay should not merely recount the struggles of single parenting but should also shed light on potential solutions, support systems, and the importance of societal awareness. In conclusion, writing an essay on single parenting necessitates a delicate balancing act between empathy and analysis, personal narratives and academic rigor. It requires a deep dive into the emotional and sociological dimensions of the topic, making it a task that demands both sensitivity and scholarly prowess. If you find yourself overwhelmed or in need of assistance with similar essays, professional writing services like HelpWriting.net can provide tailored solutions, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your academic journey. • 2. Effective Our Current Proposal Forms Are At Gathering... unprofitability of the portfolio could be due to the underwriters not gathering enough relevant risk details when underwriting the risk, this can lead to under pricing or even losing out on desirable risks due to overpricing. I would consider how effective our current proposal forms are at gathering relevant risk information. Proposal forms are a valuable tool in gathering risk information, not just financial details of the proposer but also risk management procedures. The proposal forms may currently place too much focus on share price and profits of the client and not enough on management processes, these factors are important when rating D O risks. Are our policies competitive with other insurers in the market? D O insurers are facing very intense competition and are under pressure to ensure that they can differentiate themselves from the rest of the market. The market has become saturated with insurers offering cover and there is ample market capacity for insureds to shop around. (CII study text on Liability insurances, 2016). The market capacity means buyers of this type of cover can expect broad terms and conditions at attractive prices. The policies we are currently offering may be uncompetitive in terms of premium and cover offered in comparison to the rest of the market. Claim trends and internal overhead costs When assessing the portfolio of D O cover I would firstly establish why it is currently unprofitable. If profit margins are not being met it is likely
  • 3. In Today’S World, We Have A Huge Database That We All Refer In today s world, we have a huge database that we all refer to as the internet. So many things can be found on the internet such as how to walk your dog or how to fix your broken TV. There are several networks on the internet that many teenagers use to communicate with each other or to simply talk about their day. These networks are known as social media networks, like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. On many of these social media networks, there are many issues involving the privacy of their users. Occasionally, users may find that someone has hacked their account and is posting false information or that somebody is trying to catfish them. The term catfish can be defined as a person who uses someone else s identity, or creates their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gonchar states, Three quarters said they approved of the government s tracking phone records of Americans suspected of terrorist activity. Nearly the same number approved of the United States monitoring the Internet activities of people living in foreign countries (Gonchar 6). Based on another article published on a website titled Monthly Review, Lauren Regan talks about some ways on how the government could surveillance electronic communications. Email messages can be intercepted and then reformatted to be sent to the intended recipient or someone else altogether , Regan explained. With this being said, Lee Rainie and Mary Madden wrote an article designed to display some of the feedback from their surveys they conducted to several Americans. In the survey Americans are divided in their concerns about government surveillance of digital communications , 17% of Americans said they are very concerned about government surveillance of Americans data and electronic communication; 35% say they are somewhat concerned ; 33% say they are not very concerned and 13% say they are not at all concerned about the surveillance (Rainie / Madden 4). These surveys do show that the majority of the survey takers feel that their privacy is being invaded by government surveillance but there is no possible way that we can determine that the statistics are accurate because Rainie and Madden did not specify what group of Americans took part in this
  • 4. Raising Medical Malpractice The rising price of health care and the amount of medical malpractice claims being filed sparked a start to this controversial topic. The average price of medical care has gone up roughly 20 percent between the late 80s and the early 2000s (The risk authority, 2014). And the amount of medical malpractice claims in the same twenty years has arisen from one person filing a claim to five people filing the same claim, in a small ratio (Doyle, n.d.). The rising cost of medical expenses is feeding off of the increase in the amount of these cases filed every year. There are other reasons for the medical cost to rise such as the new expensive treatments and medications. But these new innovations are also raising the amount medical malpractice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As medical innovations advance throughout time, the quality of medicine and care is increasing along with the costs of health care because of the amount of medical malpractice suits filed. And each with their increasingly steep, positive association, rising quickly, feed off of each other giving a negative impact on the people needing this care. According to National Health Expenditures, in the year 2016 health care spending sky rocked increasing by 4.3 percent, this is an average of more than $10,000 per person and as a whole $3.3 trillion in the U.S. (Joyce, 2016). These increasing prices gives horrible news for the majority of U.S. citizens, the average of more than $10,000 per person can be detrimental to anyone. People just don t have this kind of money to drop on health care. The average income for one person is just over $80,000. This means that for the family of four (two parents, two children), this amount of money is a quarter of their income before taxes, food, and other necessities. The non conquencidental cause of the rise in the price of health care is the increasing amount of medical malpractice claims. A graph from The Risk Authority Medical Malpractice Trend Review states that, for a large case between the late 1980s and the early 2000s the amount of cases rose roughly 20 percent, this means that for every one person in the late 1980s that filed a claim, in the early 2000s five people filed a medical malpractice claim (Doyle, n.d.). The increasing amount of medical malpractice claims is rising the price of health care for everyone. This is because the doctors have to pay for these cases, and they are paying for them out of pocket, even if it is found to not be medical malpractice, they still have to pay for the court fees out of pocket. To make up for the court fees and payouts, they raise their costs. This
  • 5. Accounting Principles In the U.S., Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are accounting rules used to prepare, present, and report financial statements for a wide variety of entities, including publicly traded and privately held companies, non profit organizations, and governments. The term is usually confined to the United States; hence it is commonly abbreviated as US GAAP or simply GAAP. However, in the theoretical sense, Generally Accepted Accounting Principlesencompass the entire industry of accounting, and not only the United States. Outside the academic context, GAAP means US GAAP. The following are basic objectives of the GAAP: provide information that is useful to present to potential investors, creditors, and other individuals in making rational investment and credit, provide information about economic resources, the claims to those resources, and the changes in them, assist in making financial decisions, assist in making long term decisions, improve the performance of the business, and maintain records. IFRS are used in many parts of the world, including the European Union, India, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Pakistan, GCC countries, Russia, South Africa, Singapore, and Turkey. As of August 2008, more than 113 countries around the world, including all of Europe, currently require or permit IFRS reporting and 85 require IFRS reporting for all domestic, listed companies according to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. It is generally expected that IFRS adoption

Emmily Rose was what she thought, a normal orphan. Her parents died in what she assumed was a shooting. Emmily was often punished for no good reason by Madam Laroose and was the worst treated orphan at the orphanage and she never knew why, until one day an odd visitor came to see Emmily. Now she was training with the best wizard in the world and was becoming a witch. She will never forget the day when Alicia, a witch came to get her from the orphanage. Emmily asked, doing her best to imitate Professor Dackcus. Exactly, and repeat after me, Rozolo. Professor Dackcus exclaimed. Emmily cried Rozolo! and a blazing green light shoot out of Emmily s wand and blow a hole in the wall. Emmily turned to Dackcus and returned his smile. Your ready Professor Dackus said in a calm and determined voice. Emmily went to bed last night wondering what her battle with Azazel will be like. Emmily has had to train in the dungeons so that Azazel couldn t find Emmily before she was ready to defend herself. Now all they had to do was wait for Azazel to come to Aeaea castle. The next morning, Emmily woke up to a girl shaking her awake and found that all the other girls in her dormitory were crowded around her bed. She slowly sank deeper into her bed. Azazel, she s here! shouted the girl who had shaken her awake. What? Emmily said startled. Though she did not have time to get a answer in between the time she was rushed to get her robes on and rush down the stairs to where the teachers were serving breakfast. From auditory imagery to Visual imagery, even though there are different types of imagery, the one that is the most present in the book would have to be visual imagery. Imagery is the use of words that can effectively convey an image using different senses to convey the same or different ideas. I think Capote wrote this novel to give some insight on the criminal mind. In the book cold blood Capote shows Dick as an cold but calculated murder with a good motive but Perry Smith is a different case. Capote is more sympathetic toward Perry Smith than Dick, we know this because he describes
  • 8. Research Aspects Of Water Quality Introduction 1.1Purpose of the Report The purpose of this investigation is to research aspects of water quality such as guidelines for water quality, water quality parameters, contaminants that effect water quality, water quality tests and catchment area influences. Samples from the Dee River, from above and below the former Mount Morgan mine site, will be tested and compared in terms of pH level, conductivity and water hardness. The links that exist between pH levels and water hardness will also be investigated. These three variables have dramatic influences on the water quality of the Dee River which will be discussed throughout the investigation. 1.2Water Quality Water is a fundamental resource which is essential to human life... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Water quality protects and maintains public health, provides stable habitats for ecosystems, plays a major role in the agriculture and mining industries and contributes to recreation and tourism. Because water is not pure, except in its vapour form, it is affected by a range of different parameters. For example, agriculture, urban, recreation, industrial uses can alter the quality as well as the modification of natural stream flows by man made infrastructure and the weather, in particular the wrath of droughts. Water is generally at a higher quality higher in the river, the best water quality is typically found in the headwaters. The quality often declines as rivers flow through regions where land and water use are intense and where pollution from industry increases. 1.2.1Water Hardness Water hardness is typically known as the amount of minerals present in an aqueous solution. It specifically looks at the amounts of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. Hard water generally has high levels of dissolved minerals whilst soft water has low levels. According to South East Water, the general guidelines classifications for soft water is 0 to 60 mg/L (milligrams per litre) of
  • 9. A Day in Ancient Rome If I had to choose an ancient time or civilization to live in I would choose Rome. I would choose Rome because I find their lifestyle to be more down to earth then most other ancient civilizations, specifically the Greeks. Their artwork, building, and excellent military are major points of interest to me. Further, in examining what daily life would be like for me in that time I chose to research both the life of a patrician, or upper class man, and the life of a soldier. In the following paragraphs I will try to depict what life was like in ancient Romefor both an upper class/patrician man and/or a Roman soldier. I will cover activities such as eating habits, clothing, housing, marriage and family life, and hobbies. For starters Rome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of these houses were decorated with paintings right on the walls and even sometimes artwork on the floor as well. Homes however, usually had little to no furniture and bare, sometimes even dirt floors. Most of these homes were equipped with bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and an atrium for family time. Yet, only the richest citizens of this society had toilets and baths in their home. Because of this Romans relied heavily on public baths. At first thought these public baths might seem inconvenient and unsanitary. However, the Romans viewed them as quite the opposite. These public bath houses were looked upon as a place not just to bath but to shop, read, get your hair cut, or even eat. They were so popular that at one time there were more then 800 public baths in Rome (Dupont 262). Both men and women enjoyed these bath houses and, most, on a daily basis. The only stipulation was separate hours for both men and women. After a bath, your average patrician man might be headed for the forum which was the major marketplace and center of commerce in Rome. You could do almost all your errands their including: banking, shopping, and trading. In addition to your errands you might even be able to sit down and read a paper or listen to a local speaker. These forums also were cites for religious activities which were very common in Rome as there were many gods. These gods were usually worshipped in Temples which were widespread
  • 10. Pros And Cons Of Corn It was in 1826 when French physician and dietitian Anthelme Brillat Savarin wrote, Dis moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que to es, Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are. (Brillat Savarin 1825) If this idea that we are what we eat is true when what we are as Americans living in the United Statesis corn. Corn is the largest commodity crop grown in the U.S., it is turned into the cheapest and most consumed sweetener, high fructosecorn syrup, it finds its way into 75% of the products in the average grocery store, and unlike its ancestor from southern Mexico the corn we grow today has close to zero nutritional value. It is estimated by the National Corn Growers Association that the average American consumes 25 pounds of corn each year. When one thinks about corn consumption, they tend to think about products such as sweet corn, corn flakes, popcorn, or corn oil. However, freedom of speech has caused vast problems in our history s past. Censorship has helped regulate free speech, acting as a barrier to various societies that make up the American culture. Hate speechhas created various stereotypes which lead to violence, hence censorship should be implemented in order to prevent these issues, whether on campuses, in the media or even in religious settings. I consider the unedited original version a glimpse into the past. Further, I believe that these controversial

In present day, the majority of households encompass non traditional families, accordion families, divorce, and modern technology. Traditional families have been thought to consist of a heterosexual male and female joined together in marriage. However in modern society, the terms marriage and familyare not limited to a specific definition. Gay marriages have led the revolution in changing the concept of families. From New York s Marriage Equality Act in 2011, to the Supreme Court s ruling of legalizing gay marriage throughout the United States in 2015, marriage equality has come a long way. The third challenge faced by new immigrants was acquiring and then keeping steady work. Although the Packingtown in Chicago was in a constant state of activity, the sheer number of available workers and the rule of supply and demand made it difficult for some to find work. It was not uncommon for some workers to stand at the plant doors for weeks before being selected. And once a person was chosen to be a worker, they had to labor at a fever pitch to make sure they were retained. That being said, the worker s problems did not end once they found steady employment. Employers were harsh and unforgiving in how they treated their employees. For example, if an employee was one minute late they were penalized an hours pay. If they were 20 minutes late they forfeited their employment. Worse yet, if they were injured or hurt on the job the company takes no responsibility and the worker is forced to recuperate on their own time without pay (i.e.; when Jurgis sprained his ankle and had to recuperate at home for 3 months). The final insult to the workers was that even if they were always on time, worked hard and maintained their health they could lose their job due to the

Educating Rita is a modern adaptation of Pygmalion, which is based on a figure in Greek mythology when a sculptor named Pygmalion carves a woman out of ivory but ends up falling in love with her. These two books follow the journeys of two women, one in the early 1900s named Eliza and one in the 1960s named Rita. They both enlist the help of teachers to try and guide them into a higher class of society, but the teaching styles, and consequences are different in the two plays. There are two angles of change that I will take. One is how and why Rita and Eliza change throughout the novel and the changes experienced by the characters. The teaching style for change in Educating Rita is focused on exam technique. Frank teaches Rita how to pass her exams, teaching the rules of the game , and so Rita can learn about literature and culture in order so that she can converse and talk in a higher class. However, this is an extremely hard task, as Rita wants to learn everything, yet she had an almost non existent education; Frank says you ve barely had a basic schooling, you ve never passed an exam in your life. Justice And Justice In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson In the novel, Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, it is extremely apparent that there is a link between poverty, wealth, injustice, and justice. This book incorporates a strong theme of poverty and how it relates to justice, as well as injustice. Furthermore, it very apparently works to explain and provide examples of problems within the justice system, and the urgency that these be corrected. One major problem being poverty in relation to obtaining justice. This being said, throughout my personal reading of the book, I have come to agree with Stevenson s statement, the opposite of poverty is not wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson 18). Walter McMillian, a man falsely convicted for a crime, experienced an immense amount of injustices originally fueled from his race and societal status. I felt the need to explain to people what Walter had taught me. Walter made me understand why we have to reform a system of criminal justice that continues to treat people better if they are rich and guilty than if they are poor and innocent. A system that denies the poor the legal help they need, that makes wealth and status more important than culpability, must be changed. (Stevenson 313) What I have interpreted this as, is the court system is trying to get through these things as quickly as possible, as well as try to convict someone as quickly as possible to give the community a sense of reassurance that a murderer is off the streets. Furthermore, if the

This quote links to the point of brutality on many lives and indicates the innocence of the soldiers. When analysing the poem it is made aware that Owen presents the reader with details of what people felt and heard. The words dropping softly behind suggest that the soldiers had heard the gas shells so much that they had become used to it. It also points to the fact that their trenches were based so far, that they were distant from all the shelling. Also Owen says innocent tongues as the soldiers did not deserve this. The plot of Fun House centers around Bechdel s life and what it was like living in a household where the parents did not pay that much attention to their children and focused on other things, where the father who is supposed to the head of the household, has a dark secret concerning his sexual orientation, where the protagonist (Alison) is dealing with gender... On page 16, Bechdel says that her father [did] not make things, but [made] things appear the be what they were not which proves that her father wanted to keep up the appearances of a perfect family with no problems. In my opinion, I think that it is really sad and awful that as a child, Alison did not get the love and attention that she should have received from her father because he was too obsessed with other things such as decorating their house and making sure that they seemed like the perfect family even though realistically they were not. In Chapter 2, Alison talks about her father s death. Her father got hit by a truck and died, and she thinks it was a suicide but there was no evidence suggesting that and the only one who thinks that is Alison. In addition to that in Chapter 4: In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flowers, Bechdel talks more in depth about her father s death and describes what occurred. She explains that her father had been doing some gardening just before he died and that was the cause of his death. According to Alison, her father was doing yard work and as he was crossing the road with to throw away brush that he was carrying, then suddenly he jumps backwards into the road right as a truck is coming and it runs him over (89). The man who was driving the truck that hit Mr. Bechdel explains that it was an accident and that Alison s father did not jump into the road on purpose, but that he seemed

  • 53. Consequences Of A Christmas Carol Christmas is the time of year where everyone seems to be happy no matter what is going on currently in the world around them. But not for Ebenezer Scrooge. Everyone makes mistakes, but some that Scrooge had made, made a big impact on his life. Because of his lack to spread kindness and charity, Scrooge s consequences were three lovely visits from the Spirit of ChristmasPast, Present and Yet to Come that made Scrooge reflect on his previous decisions so he can have an even greater future. When Scrooge s partner, Marley, passes away, he lives an even more greedy and selfish life, finding another reason to strongly hate Christmas. Thus one part of why his poor action will provide a future consequence. Secondly, since Scrooge had been so selfish to everyone, including the whole town of London, it is pretty certain that all of London dislikes Scrooge. Although the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come shows Scrooge that if he does indeed stay selfish, he most certainly will not be missed when he passes away. Lastly, his mistake in life was from his past when he decides to worry and obsess over making money and being successful rather than making sure he and his fiance s future was more secure rather than secure finances. A Christmas Caroldisplays actions and consequences depend on one s own actions and decisions whether good or bad. First, Scrooge s Co Worker, Jacob Marley passes away on Christmas Eve one year and will never come back. Scrooge continues on with his life, although
  • 54. Marker Assisted Breeding Selective breeding is the process by which humans select organisms with desirable traits and breed them together so the trait appears in the next generation. The process is repeated over many generations until the characteristic becomes common. Selective breeding now often uses reproductive technologies, such as artificial insemination and marker assisted selection, so that the desirable characteristics of one male can be passed onto many offspring. This increases the rate at which the desirable trait is passed to progeny. Marker assisted selection is a molecular technique used to screen a genome for genetic markers that indicate desirable traits. (*1). We had two challenges, says Dr Scobie. In these times, farmers selectively bred sheep to make them grow fleece from nose to their toes and thicker coats. They did this thinking that the sheep having a heavier fleece would bring them greater returns. Because the sheep had so much wool, this meant more work for the farmers due to them having to dag and crutch the sheep where the wool becomes dirty. This added to production costs and this wool has lower value so farmers have started selectively breeding sheep so they only have wool in the areas that are going to be worth the most money and get them the best returns possible. Their aim was to remove all the unnecessary parts of the sheep and fleece to create sheep that were more productive and easier and cheaper to maintain easy care sheep. (3*). Easy care sheep have been selectively bred to have the traits of bare backside, bare belly, bare legs, short tail and bare head. These traits, such as bare backside and short tail reduce dags which therefore reduces the risk of them getting fly strike, flies are attracted to the dags. Flystrike occurs when flies lay maggots in the fleece and then move onto the skin and damage it. The bare backside and short tail can minimise the risk of this and therefore reduce the time and cost farmers may have to take to deal with this
