Since elementary school I have envisioned my life deeply intertwined with art, however, at the same
time I also knew that vision never had me living out the stereotype of a starving artist either. As a child
my understanding of artist in the work force was nothing more than the cliché vision, of a paint
covered artist smearing vivid hues on a canvas and then rushing to the nearest art gallery to sell their
work. I didn t know anything of the vast opportunities for artist or even how abundantly art is used
throughout our society. Maybe this was due to the fact I was never one of those kids who know what
they wanted to be since they were three. Nevertheless, I always had a passion to create, even when I
was determined to become the next Thomas Edison, I was looking for an outlet to create. By the time
third grade would roll around though, it would be made evident that art in its most traditional since of
drawing and painting would be the outlet I was always looking for. Understanding my niche in the
creative world would take me over a decade of self evaluation, inspiration, and research.
I never started out saying I was going to be an artist, I still did a child s fair share of doodles and

beautiful job describing the season. The way that he makes his words come to life. The poem makes
you feel as if you are right there in the midst of autumn. As I read through the poem, it was as if I

is my most favorite season of the year. When the poem talks about the songs of spring, it tells you to

Reflection Of My Family History
What I am today is the reflection of my family s history. History of endeavors, pains, failures and
growth. One evening, I was talking to my grandma and she started telling about our family. At first, it
seemed quite boring, but ended up in tears and made me learn the most important lesson of my life. It
was quite a deep thing to realize for a kid but fortunately and eventually I understood. It started with
my dad s childhood. After my grandfather suffered health problems, at a very young age of 10, my dad
had to take the charge of his family because that time my family didn t had money even for bread. My
dad worked at a bookstore from morning till evening and after the long day of work. He could earn
just about to fill their stomachs. But after my father, he had one brother and three sisters and their
education and despite being a lady who were not usually allowed to earn back then, my grandma
started working for VDC. Sadly, in the Nepalese Indian societies, people aren t judged keeping their
hard work, talents in the mind. And, those who want to grow are pulled backwards due to jealousy. In
time of need nobody showed up, and helping seemed bragging only. After all endeavors, striving and
thriving, today what we are up to is the result of the sacrifice of my grandma and my dad s childhood;
However, with our heads high, we are proud, and are happy to have a self made life and respect in the

Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a disorder in which an individual may feel persistent,
excessive, and worry about everyday things that may not even happen. Individuals with this disorder
may feel worry, excessive anxiety, and have thoughts of the worst even when there is no need for
concern. A person experiencing GAD may expect a disaster. They may worry about their finances,
money, health, family, work, or any issue that may come to mind. This disorder may be present when
a person worrying increases on more days than one for at least six months. GAD can interfere with
work, school, family, and even social activities. GAD can be diagnosed in adults when they
experience at least three of the symptoms. These symptoms include restlessness or feeling on the edge,
fatigue, difficulty focusing or mind going blank, irritability, muscle tension, pain in back or headaches,
and sleep disturbance (ADAA, n.d.).
According to the Mayo Clinic, genetics may play a role as well as other factors, but is not fully
known. Some of the risk factors for GAD is personality, genetics, and sex. With personality, a person
who is shy, have negative thoughts, or who avoids dangerous situations may be more prone to
generalized anxiety disorder than others are. GAD may run in the family, thus being a genetic factor.
Also, women are more prone to have GAD than men. The common two treatments for GAD include
medication and psychotherapy. Psychotherapy

Philip Randolph s The Messenger
Born on April 15th 1889 in Crescent City, Florida Philip Randolph was the second son of James and
Elizabeth Randolph. Both of his parents were strong supporters of equal rights for African American.
When Philip was two years old his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he lived for most of
his teenage life. Young Philip had a close relationship with his older brother William. He used to play
role playing games with his brother where they would advocate for Rights of African American.
Randolph attended Cookman Institute one of the most prominent institute for higher education for

Reflection On African American Studies
Personal Reflection Introduction to African American Studies was the class that I decided to take this
summer because I am genuinely interested in learning more about the cultures and lifestyles of African
Americans through out history and I want to further my knowledge beyond just learning about what
was taught to me in secondary school. I do not know much about African American studies as I have
not taken any courses on it or relating to it in the past but I hope that I can gain a lot of information on
the topic through out this intellectual experience. I also hope to gain a better understanding of the
history of Africans and African Americas and be able to dive deeper into this topic instead of just
hitting the surface as I feel as though my previous experiences with this topic have covered. In just
this first weeks lesson I have learned about the three great principles that characterize the Black
Intellectual Tradition and how these three principles are used and perceived. During my secondary
education experience some of the things that I have learned about the African or African American
experience were the slave trade and slavery of Africans during early American and that these slaves
were used for things like farming, working in mills, and servants to the rich, all against their will and

The book and recent movie adaptation, The Maze Runner, is strongly related to the life
of Theseus and more specifically the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur in the labyrinth. The
relationship and the similarities are clearly demonstrated through Thomas s character and
personality while comparing him to Theseus. The main characters are not the only aspect of this
series that is influenced by Greek mythology; the animals, or grievers are a representation of
the Minotaur and the challenges they present to the children. Also, simply based on the title, the
setting is another indisputable connection to the myth of the labyrinth.

Though
discrepancies occur, such as the time spans or the genders of the children, it is undeniable that
this story is almost completely based off of the Greek myth. Some other general plot similarities
include; the minotaur/griever attacks on the children, the heroes voluntary choice to go against
the animals, and the 50/50 body composition of the animals Minotaur is half human and half
animal while the grievers are half animal and half human made machine.
Taking a deeper look at the main character, Thomas, we see many characteristics that
would be considered heroic ones in the Greek and Roman times. The most evident connection

grievers in the hopes of finding an escape. Their bravery connects them in multiple ways,

Malcolm Little was born in the mid twentieth century, these were difficult times for the black youth.
As Little grew older he knew there needed to be change, he was one of the few people that was
capable of making that happen for the fellow African American and African. At a very young age
Malcolm grasped the concept that there s something not right, that there needed to be an alteration and
thus is where he started his studies. Malcolm needed to be outspoken he wanted to achieve a certain
impact on others. So he began reading into law, that was the only way for him to get some kind of

The rage and anger he had took over him and Malcolm became rebellious. Malcolm let go of all his
dreams that he once had and he became a troubled child and started committing felonies targeting

sat and the unconscious became conscious once again all because of a great influence. Malcolm Little

It was starting to look as if politics were beginning to become more secular. As it is well known, after
Kennedy s assassination, Lyndon B. Johnson carried out the rest of Kennedy s term, and then ran for
reelection in 1964. Johnson, a left leaning Democrat found himself up against Barry Goldwater from
the right minded Republican Party. Early on in the 20th century, many of Protestant denominations
had adopted progressive, social reformist doctrines, that many people still value to this day. Despite

victory, with Barry Goldwater only winning six states: his native Arizona, and five states in the heart
