Coming Of Age In Mississippi Essay
African Americans fought long and hard to achieve racial equality during the Civil Rights movement
through protests and boycotts. But, not all forms of protest were violent. Sit ins were a non violent
form of protest and proved to be a very effective. Students would go into a restaurant or cafe, order
food, sit down at the white area, demand service, and not leave until they got served. They never got
served; this form of protest would go on for weeks. Whites would throw food and other remains on
them making the headlines at newspapers. Coming of Age in Mississippi, an autobiography written by
Anne Moody, is about the life of Moody; beginning with her childhood and ending at the end of her
college years. Moody was an activist during the Civil Rights movement and organized several sit ins
herself. Those who engaged in sit ins were arrested, threatened by the KKK, and banned to return to
their hometowns. During the Civil Rights movement, sit ins served ... Show more content on

In other words, freedom to make decisions without to decide where they wanted to go to school, walk,
eat, or talk without being oppressed. Whites refused to give them that freedom and protests such as sit
ins were done to receive that freedom. It made copes and whites look foolish because they reacted
with violence towards something that was completely non violent. Police started arresting everybody
that had anything to do with sit ins and many started to question why? White people began to also
engage in this form of protest; even more attention was drawn. The more people that police arrested,
the more there were that protested. In the eyes of the southern whites, having African Americans sit in
at white lunch counters was against their unwritten law. In reality, it was the whites that throw and
beat African Americans that should have went to jail. Newspapers, unknowingly, showed that

Southwestern University Case Study Essay
Southwestern University Case Study Summary: Southwestern University is a state college in
Stephenville, Texas. The college is known for its Football and have been in the top 20 in the rankings
since the appointment of legendary Bo Pitterno in 2001 as the Head coach for the team. The coach
requested to upgrade the stadium or construct a new stadium to accommodate the large fan base. This
request was heard by the SWU s president, Dr Joel Wisner, who decided that they would upgrade the
stadium based on a forecast of when the current stadium would max out. Problem: Southwestern
University is experiencing a quickly expanding football program. As a result, attendance for home
games is increasing and approaching capacity. It is in the best interest of SWU to forecast attendance
to aid them in deciding when the best time to expand the present stadium, which now holds 54,000.

What Is A Story To Write A Short Story
LITTLE WILL PENNY sat behind a dustbin in an alley just off a quiet commercial street somewhere
in London listening to the sounds of the holidays. Christmas music floated above the din of traffic. A
rotund old man in whiskers, glasses and a long red coat rang a bell in front of a candy shop. Kids
pulled their mums and dads along the sidewalks searching for treasures in toy stores. Twinkling lights
spread muted color into the gloom of the alley.
Will had neither mum nor dad, nor toys, nor candy, nor anyone to give such things to a homeless boy.
He had no part in the holidays, so he didn t join in the festivities. It was good that Christmas brought
joy to the shoppers out on the street for a few days. But for him, it only made that vague hollow in his
heart even more empty. As far as he was concerned, Christmas was for other people.
Will had never celebrated Christmas because he never had a real home. All he knew of his parents
came from a neighbor couple who raised him. To hear them tell it, Will was lucky they took him in.
According to his foster parents, neither his mum nor his dad wanted him. His mother abandoned him
when he was still an infant. To be blunt, she threw him into the snow, out in the alley behind their hut.
His father was worse. He was a dark wizard, crazy, and dangerous. Instead of a wand, he carried a
bronze dagger that had a mind of its own. They frequently got into bar fights, and eventually they
killed someone. The Police searched for

Ireland s Capital Of Culture
Cork, Ireland is one of the most beautiful and culturally rich places on Earth. In 2005 Cork was
selected as the European Capital of Culture. With Cork s landscape dotted with old English castles and
great Catholic cathedrals it is not hard to understand why Cork was 2005 s capital of culture. There are
many examples showing Ireland s rich cultural ties but a very good example is beer. Ireland is quite
renowned for its beer production and consumption. You can trace it back no fewer than 5,000 years,
back into the earliest days of Irish agriculture, when the magical trilogy of fertile soil, soft rain and
gentle, cool breezes made for a climate that could produce superb barley ( A History of Beer in Ireland
). Cork happens to be headquarters of Murphy s Brewery. In 1906 Murphy s Brewery was the second
largest brewery in Ireland and has remained a very large brewery ever since (Wilson). Beer is a simple
example of one of the many incredible things to visit Cork for. Cork was originally founded by Saint
Fin Barre in the 6th century (Riain). The city itself is situated on the River Lee. The river splits
making an island which is where the city center is located; the river re converges at the eastern side of
the city creating the Cork Harbour, one of the world s largest natural harbors. Viking settlers, in about
the 10th century, founded a trading post in Cork. It is hypothesized that Cork was an important trading
center in the Scandinavian trading network (Moody). During

Character Analysis Of Rent
The musical Rent was first produced in 1994 by Jonathan Larson and is loosely based on the opera La
Boheme (1896) by Giacomo Puccini. This rock opera production tells the story of the lives of 8
bohemians living in Manhattan for a year. Many of the characters in Rent are pulled directly from
Puccini s La Bohème. There are 8 main characters the story follows; Roger Davis, a musician who is
HIV positive, Mimi MĂĄrquez, an exotic dancer and Roger s girlfriend, Mark Cohen, a Jewish
filmmaker who is Roger s roommate, Maureen Johnson, a bisexual performance artist, Joanne
Jefferson, a lawyer who is Maureen s girlfriend, Tom Collins, a gay part time philosophy professor at
New York University with AIDS. Angel Dumott Schunard, a drag queen who is Collins partner, and
Benjamin Benny Coffin III, their landlord and the former roommate of Roger, Mark, Collins, and
Maureen. The plot of Rent borrows heavily from its predecessor. La Boheme was also based on young
artists and free thinkers, and these characters were afflicted with the plague of the time period,
tuberculosis. Similarly, in Rent the artists are all affected in some way by the HIV and AIDS epidemic
of the 1990s. The story highlights the two roommates Mark and Roger. A former tragedy has made
Roger numb to life, and Mark tries to capture the ups and downs of his friend s lives on tape through
his attempts to make a film.
The beginning of the film opens up to the main characters struggling to make their rent. The rest of

Nestorius Research Paper
Stupidity likes to take a shower in the morning. A wave loudly crashing against a shoreline slips on a
banana peel. Pinocchio is omni present, much like candy. Tomorrow is like a painted flower, it never
wilts. These sentences are ridiculous, right? The way you are feeling right now after listening to them
is the exact same way the council felt about Nestorius teachings. The council went even farther than
nonsensicality and called him a heretic. But, more on that later. Nestorius was born in Syria in 386
AD, and was a priest and monk in the monastery of Euprepius. Theodore of Mopsuetia taught him in
clerical training in Antioch. His sermons were so phenomenal that Emperor Theodosius II inaugurated
him as Patriarch of Constantinople in 428 AD. Shortly after, Nestorius became involved in two
theological factions debating in their Christology. One side said the Jesus was born as a man, and they
called Mary Theotokos, meaning God bearer. The other side argued that this title of Mary was
incorrect because God could not be born on account of his eternal nature. Nestorius tried to find a
middle ground. He decided to call Mary Christokos, meaning Christ bearer. He did this so it would not
seem like God was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the meeting was supposed to take place and any eastern bishops of Antioch arrived, Cyril
began the assembly. He sent letters summoning Nestorius. Cyril used the Nicene Creed to disprove
Nestorius, saying that Jesus flesh did not turn into the godhead, and the nature of God did not turn into
flesh. He says Jesus became one with the flesh in a Hypostatic Union. Cyril proposed twelve
anathemas that were accepted by the church. They basically said if anyone does or does not do
something, they will be anathema. In other words, they will be condemned and basically sent to hell.
Nestorius declined the summons of Cyril and was therefore deprived of his dignity in the church and
detached from his college of

Examples Of Psychoanalysis In Alien
C. Psychoanalysis as a political weapon in Alien
i. Male action and female inaction There are two major examples of male activeness and female
passiveness in Alien: the chestburster scene and the differences between Ripley and Dallas as the
protagonist. In the iconic chestburster scene the crew are seated peacefully as they prepare to return to
stasis, however this peace is disturbed when Kane convulses and a chestburster bursts out of him.
Only the male characters are active in this scene: Parker and Dallas initially comfort and hold Kane
down, Brett holds Kane s legs down, and Ash runs from the other side (farther aways then Ripley and
Lambert) to help. Ripley and Lambert initially reach out towards Kane but eventually watch in horror
as the alien bursts from him. Dallas, Parker, and Brett were closer to Kane than Ripley so they have
more reason for helping; and Ash is the science officer so it makes sense for him to rush towards a
medical emergency. Switching one of the male characters with a female character could have
expounded on the seriousness of the scene (before the arrival of the chestburster).
While subtle, the difference between the actions taken by Dallas and Ripley exemplify the
heterosexual differences in labor. Dallas protagonist is constantly in motion: investigating the signal,
defending Ripley from the dead facehugger, and hunting the alien in the vents. Ripley s actions as
protagonist are less active, especially since she follows Dallas vent plan and

MOZART S LIFE Whenever people gather to talk about musical genius, the name Mozart almost
always comes up first. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was the most sensational Wunderkind (a German

little piano pieces at age five; later on symphonies at nine and complete operas at twelve.

There were no major wars in Europe, though across the ocean the American War of Independence
raged from 1775 1783. Yet there was much discontent in Europe. People were getting fed up with a
two class social structure, in which a tiny group of rich people at the top of the social scale held power
over a vast number of poor people at the bottom, people with virtually no rights and no way to climb
out of their poverty. But power was slowly changing hands from the aristocracy to the growing middle
class. This middle class came about partly through the Industrial Revolution, which brought a sudden,
massive increase in the number of jobs available in mines, factories, and on the railroads. It was an
age of invention: from Watt s steam engine (1775) to the hot air balloon (1783) and carbonated soda
(1785)! A philosophical movement known as the Enlightenment took hold during this period. People
began to believe in the power of human reason to solve social problems, to correct unjust behaviour,
and to make their lives better. The rights of the individual, freedom of thought, relaxation of
censorship, and the gradual abolition of child labour were just some of the changes that resulted from

Explaining And Discussing Dante s Vision Of Hell
Explaining and Discussing Dante s Vision of Hell in The Inferno Dante s explanation of Hell has
fascinated many individuals by the way it is explained, and more than likely made many use their
mind and overthink it. When readers confront The Inferno, they might be surprised or blown minded
by the way Dante explains what he went through. Many people after reading this might have changed
their way of thinking of Hell because of Dante s lecture, or maybe some still thought the same. Not
everyone thinks that there is a heaven nor a hell, everyone has different believes depending on their
culture and most importantly their religion. Religion is what makes people decide what they believe in
and what not to believe in. When Dante passes through the gates of Hell he knew right away it was
trouble without a doubt, he explains that there is different levels in Hell depending on what that
individual might have done on earth. Virgil is the one who leads Dante into the Gates of Hell, as soon
as Dante enters he then hears countless cries from the many souls that lived on earth and lived their
lives without being aware of their moral choices. Virgil leads Dante to Acheron, which was a river,
and it marks the border of Hell according to the book. Across it there will be many dead souls waiting
to be crossed. Charon was an old man who recognizes Dante and tells him to stay away from the dead
in Hell but then troubles them no longer. Unexpectedly fire and wind rises up from the

Medical Experiments During The Third Reich
Have you ever heard of the Nazi Party led by Adolf Hitler, the Holocaust, or even the medical
experiments of the SS? Well, get ready to learn about it. Adolf Hitler was an anticommunist that
fought for Germany in WWI. He was the leader of the Nazi s. The Holocaust was a genocide in which
Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany and its collaborators killed about six million Jews. The medical
experiments of the SS were experiments performed by doctors on prisoners. During World War II, a
number of German physicians conducted painful and often deadly experiments on thousands of
concentration camp prisoners without their consent. Unethical medical experimentation carried out
during the Third Reich may be divided into three categories. The three categories consisted of
experiments aimed at facilitating the survival of Axis military personnel. The second category of
experimentation aimed at developing and testing pharmaceuticals and treatment methods for injuries
and illnesses which German military and occupation personnel encountered in the field. While the
third category of medical experimentation sought to advance the racial and ideological tenets of the
Nazi worldview (https://www.ushmm.org). Doctors have always been thought of as the saviors of
mankind, the healers, and caretakers of our utter existence. Even ancient civilizations revered the
medicine men as having special power to protect life. The trust of a physician is sacred. This is why

Essay On Federal Budget
The government needs to take more caution creating the federal budget. Edwards stated that Consider
Canada s experience. In the mid 1990s, the federal government faced a debt crisis caused by
overspending, which is similar to America s current situation. But the Canadian government reversed
course and slashed spending from 23 percent of GDP in 1993, to 17 percent by 2000, to just 15
percent today. The Canadian economy did not sink into a recession from the cuts as Keynesians would
have expected but instead grew strongly during the 1990s and 2000s.
Since the early 1950 s Americans have had trouble controlling overspending. The United States
government has engaged in deficit spending. This occurs when spending exceeds the amount of

Growing spending and debt are undermining economic growth and may push the nation into a
financial crisis in coming years. Edward then stated that the solution to these problems is to downsize
every federal department by cutting the most harmful programs. This study proposes specific cuts that
would reduce federal spending by almost one quarter and balance the budget in less than a decade.
In my opinion, I think he is right. If we reduce spending on Medicare, Medicaid, and social security
and look into the defense expenses and reduced some of the spendings in some of the programs such
as unnecessary equipment, submarines from the total spending of 4.4 trillion. These are the programs
that make up the largest percentage compared to the other programs such as education, international
aid, and foreign aid when the government cuts some of the programs mentioned above, it will help
balance the budget.
Cutting down individual taxes will generate more employment and will help generate more money, it
will create more tax revenue, according to Mike DeBones, from House Passes 2018 Budget, Taking a
Crucial Step toward Tax Overhaul. He states that Our budget specifically paves the way for pro

Garage Door
How to test the balance of a garage door If you are having trouble with the garage door opening and
closing, it may be due to a problem with springs. When the springs are properly adjusted, the door is
balanced and can be opened easily with the garage door opener or manually. It is recommended that
you check the balance of the garage door at least once a year, especially if it is typically operated with
an opener. There are no tools required to test the balance, but if it isn t balanced correctly, to avoid
possible severe injuries call a professional to do the repairs. What Are Garage Door Springs? There
are many different parts that work together to make your garage door operate correctly, but the springs
play an extremely important role. The goal of the springs is to counteract the doors force of gravity,
which means the door spring is meant to make the door light enough for you to lift on your own
and/or for the power from the opener to lift it up easily. There are two primary types of residential
garage door springs; torsion springs and extension springs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Torsion springs, when installed and operating correctly are responsible for balancing the door.

and close and be easy to manually lift. Torsion springs are designed to last a long time, but over time
they weaken and can break. Extension springs in most situations, these are mounted above the garage

The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie
A common theme in the novel The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is control. In the novel, Miss Jean
Brodie is an educator at the Marcia Blaine School for Girls. The school is very traditional and Miss
Brodie teaches against those values, even being named a progressive spinster by other members of the
staff. Miss Brodie oversees a specific group of girls named the Brodie set. In The Prime of Miss Jean
Brodie , Spark depicts the control and negative influence Miss Brodie has on the group of girls such as
Mary McGregor s academics, Rose s potential love affair with Mr. Lloyd and Emily Joyce s death..
A specific scene in which Miss Brodie has a negative influence on the girls academically is when
Brodie set member, Mary McGregor, talks to Headmistress Mackay about signing up for the Classical
side, when she does not have the grades. Headmistress Mackay states Why do you want so much to go
on the Classical side, Mary? You aren t cut out for it. Don t your parents realize that? she replied Miss
Brodie prefers it (Spark 67). The use of the phrase Miss Brodie prefers it suggests that the only reason
Mary wants to be on the classical side is to please Miss Brodie. Headmistress Mackay even tries to tell
her that you will not be successful in the classical side, but Mary pushes for it anyway because she
knows that s what Miss Brodie wants. She lets her own self interest be dismissed and allows Miss
Brodie to control her. Miss Brodie as an educator is aware that Mary is not

The Disclosure Quality Of Information Of Securities Analysts
Moreover, securities analysts play the important roles of the users and providers of information and
their sources of information include public information that all analysts know and private information
that is possessed by individual analysts (Barron et al., 1998). Therefore, both the improvement of the
transparency of listed companies public information and analysts private information can lead to an
increase of the accuracy of analysts forecasts. Due to the lower costs of acquisition, the public
information issued by the listed companies that act as the main sources of information of securities
analysts is particularly important among them (Schipper, 1991), scholars research also focused on the

of diversification and relevant research reveal many differences, such as market selection, sample
firms, model construction, etc. Most of these studies think that if enterprises go public in overseas
mature markets after they are listed in domestic markets, it will be beneficial to crossing market
barriers, improving the liquidity of stocks, expanding investor base and improving the degrees of
cognition. However, few research concentrate on Chinese market and it cannot be sure that whether
these theories can be used to explain the problems of cross listing of Chinese companies. In this
context, the dissertation will focus on Chinese firms to study the issues of cross listing and the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Telecommuting At Three...
The article highlights the advantages and disadvantages of the phenomenon of telecommuting at three
different levels: the individual, organizational, and societal level. First, Harpaz explains that
telecommuting does not have single definition because of the sheer number of tasks that can now be
carried out remotely and the number of ways in which this can be achieved (Harpaz, 2002, pp. 74 75).
Although, telecommuting has no single definition according to Harpaz, one underlying understanding
is that telecommuting in the today s society is accelerated by the development of online technological
devices (Harpaz, 2002). Next, Harpaz provides lists the advantages and disadvantages of
telecommuting at the individual level and provides brief explanations for them. For example,
autonomy/independence is an advantage that allows the individual s control over work [to] occur more
freely and naturally (Harpaz, 2002, p. 75). In conclusion, Harpaz asks rhetorical questions that should
be used to identify the type of individuals and jobs that are suitable for electronic work (e work).
Specifically, he asks about individual personality variables for workers and managers of
telecommuting jobs in order to determine to guarantee the success of telecommuting jobs.

Balancing this fine line of professionalism can be a daunting task to most, but Steve manages this with
ease as he shows his staff unwavering support, while still helping them achieve their maximum
potential. Having a strong team is important to this company as the customers and competitors are
constantly changing and require close monitoring. Customers are a varied mix of local regulars,
miners stopping through on their 2 week rotations, and business professionals from every walk of life.
The competition of other restaurants and pubs is always evolving. Many businesses do not survive
their first unforgiving northern winter, or fail in gaining the loyalty of the primary stakeholders.
Suppliers and regulatory changes are not as closely monitored as southern Canada as the Government

if there are negative reviews then it is more than likely that your business will not be their first choice.

Rise Of Rome Research Paper
The Great Rise of Rome and Latin In the ancient Italian peninsula, numerous languages were spoken
in many different regions. The most influential, extending to modern times, is Latin. Latin was the
vernacular of the region of Latium; the same region that gave rise to the remarkable city of Rome.
Rome was perhaps the greatest empire to have taken shape in history, exerting an infinite amount of
influence in politics, medicine, civilization, military, and language. While Rome spread her borders,
Latin would soon become the lingua franca of the Mediterranean world and beyond. The war against

A pair of binoculars or a telescope makes the bird seem closer to you, making you able to see the close
up details of the bird. While on a bird watching trip, many people bring a pair of binoculars or a
telescope, sometimes even a bird guide. These bird guides will help you to spot and know what certain
bird species are. Although the majority of bird watchers are pretty well informed, a guide confirm
identification of birds spotted, and helps birders who may be traveling in land they haven t explored
before. Many bird watchers have a bird watching life list , which is a paper that they carry around that
helps them to keep up with the birds they have seen and the birds they haven t seen yet. Also, a sound
recorder would be helpful. Since it can be hard to identify some types of birds, you could record what
you hear and play it back later for identification by an expert. Extra gear that a bird watcher may find
to need include heavy weight boots for different land they aren t used to and layered clothes to help
deal with the changing weather. As for Florida, it s thought of as a birdwatcher s paradise. The
perfectly mild weather, location and diverse surroundings attract over 470 different species of birds.
Many experienced bird watchers suggest getting a field guide for the area where you would want to go
birding. A field guide is a booklet with images of the birds and guidelines for classifying them. After

Sir Elton John Research Paper
Sir Elton John has come to terms with his mother after 9 year breakoff
Sir Elton John has said that finally he and his mother have reconciled and re established their
relationship after since had been at odds for nearly nine years.
Sir Elton said that he and his mother and Sheila Farebrother are back in touch after the time he spent
in intensive care with a bacterial infection he got in South America.

The mothers revealed that the reason why the mother and son were at odds and have it spoken since
2008 goes back to the argument they had over the mother refusing to ditch two men she knew.
Nonetheless, the world was taken by surprise after Sir Elton posted a picture taken in July 2002; the

Causes Of Migration In The World Economy Of 1870-1914
Although I explained the occurrence of wage difference between Europe and the new world, having
only one data of evidence is just not enough. As an economic student, further information is needed to
support the argument in the above paragraph. Since we already know income in the new world would
increase over the period of 1870 to 1914, I would like to investigate the cause of it, why was it
increasing when mass migration started and the population in the new world (US here at an example)
began to grow rapidly. Based on the numbers provided in Table 1 (Heitger, B. (1993, February).
Migration in the World Economy of 1870 1914 [Electronic version]. , 129(3), 1 10.), US experienced
positive immigrations from all the sending countries in Europe, which confirmed that the population
of the emigration received was indeed growing and led to the overall population growth. If the US
population was growing, what happened to the real wage? Let me form a simple economic model with
only downward sloping demand and upward sloping supply for both US and one of a European nation.
At, equilibrium their intersection determines the real wage. Since we are talking about migration, let
us assume we only have human movement between two nations. Machine and capitals are excluded
by this analysis. By looking at TableA2 (Heitger, B. (1993, February). Migration in the World
Economy of 1870 1914 [Electronic version]. , 129(3), 1 10.), we know that almost all European

Mustard Gas Masks In World War One
World War One introduced new technology and weapons which made fighting war very different and
injured and killed millions of people. A very important weapon that was introduced was mustard gas
and other poison gasses. Mustard gas was a very dangerous poison gas that killed and wounded
millions of people. Armies would drop bombs on opposing armies emit mustard gas into the opposing
trenches or towns. Mustard gas was first used effectively in World War One by Germany against the
British near Ypres, Belgium in 1917. The Allied Powers did not succeed in using mustard gas until late
1917 when France had captured some of Germany s mustard gas bombs, they bombed germany at
Cambrai, in November. Mustard gas stays on clothes and in the ground for ... Show more content on

U Boats were German submarines, the German word for U Boat was U Boot which was a shorter way
of saying Unterseeboot, which literally meant undersea boat. U Boats had self propelled torpedoes and
they ran on diesel engines. In the beginning of World War One Germany had twenty nine U Boats. In
the first ten weeks Germany took down five British ships with U Boats. U Boats were on and off
during the beginning of the war, and virtually everyone in France and England distrusted the U Boats
and the Germans. In the beginning of the war when the Allied Powers were first realizing U Boats
they had Germany agree to war zone and commerce zone. Germany was not supposed to shoot at
ships in the commerce zone but anywhere in the war zone was free game. This worked until Germany
sunk the American Lusitania and later the S.S. Sussex which prompted America to get involved and
made England force the U.S. into an embargo on Germany. After Germany got embargoed they
declared that they were not going to pay attention to zones anymore and that they were going to let
their U Boats shoot down whatever ships that they wanted to, this worked for them for a little while
though it did end failing for them in the long run. At the end of the war the Germans were forced to
surrender all of their U Boats which were either destroyed or

Weapons of the Civil War: Why Did The North Win? Battles have been fought since the dawn of time.
Weapons have gradually become more technological and sophisticated each and every time. People

the Civil War. The Union was victorious in this war for freedom, and to this day, the north is more the

One model was even fitted with a full length barrel (Pikes 27 30). This greatly aided the northern
victory due to the enormous power it possessed over the confederate s figure eight s. Riffles were
another major contribution to the war, as far as weapons were concerned. The union forces had One of
the most popular riffles was the Model 1861 Springfield Musket. The Springfield Musket weighed
9.25 pounds, had a twenty one inch socket bayonet, and fired a .58 caliber mine ball traveling 950 feet
per second. Riffled Muskets, which were also known as Enfields, were the second most popular riffles

They were accurate at 800 yards, and could travel up to 1,100 yards without any difficulty. During the
course of the war, 400,000 Enfields were sold to the Union troops, whereas a mere 20,000 were
purchased by the confederate army. Although this weapons wasn t as popular as the Springfield, the
Enfield still packed a powerful punch at 1,100 yards (Ripley 43). The Remington production factories,

Pros And Cons Of Building A Border Wall
Should the United States build a border wall? Many will procrastinate about this but in the end there
will be an outcome with what will happen as far as building a border wall. There are many Pros and
Cons to this single objective. Starting off with a Pro, Many say this is a racist act or a sign of
weakness coming from our President Donald Trump. But in some cases this is an essential thing for
the United States to do. This wall too many is wrong to do because our media has a big head on racial
point along society today. In the long run a wall could be really beneficial as a commodity for the
security of our great nation.
Jeff Corwin stated that If this border wall actually happens, it will be an environmental catastrophe.
Essentially, what it s doing is cutting through nature s bridge, which connects Central America to
North America and South America. Which in many cases this can be supported but then again many
people work very hard to become a citizen in the United States for many to come across the border to
get here illegally and to most this is unfair. To make another main statement given the rising global
instability in North Korea and the Middle East with a strong and supportive border it would be harder
for terrorist to get their hands on biological, chemical or radiological weapons. With an insecure
border it makes it easier for them to bring them into the United States and launch a devastating attack
on the United States.

Life Is A Hard Journey
Ayahuasca, a Quechuan word meaning vine of the souls, or spirits or vine of the dead, has been used
in sacrament for over two millennia. There exists a retreat that can provide a new experience and
deeper healing to those in need. People have attempted several different techniques, but nothing has
given them the healing that they truly are desperate for. Life is a hard journey and at times people feel
as they have climbed mountains only to be pushed off the other side. Getting up can be hard, but there
are so many helpful resources to fit the many types of healing needs. In today s society, doctors often
prescribe handfuls of medication to help in the healing process, yet for some this attempt at numbing
the pain just doesn t work. Others look to a higher power for answers, and others start a pattern of self
medication that can quickly spiral out of control, therefore making things much worse. Deep in the
mountains of Peru, shamans perform ceremonies for those who have tried, without relief, to heal their
pain. The ceremonies involve drinking a mixture of the rare ayahuasca vine, and other plants found in
Peru that contain DMT, such as the chacruna or guambisa. Ayahuasca is known widely for its healing
abilities of the mind, body, and soul. Those that plan to abuse this drug like other psychoactive
substances, should not attend an ayahuasca retreat. The ceremonies can be far from beautiful, and may
surface past traumas. As well, they may cause physical effects that subside

Essay about “Going to Meet the Man”; the Black Man Inside...
In Going to Meet the Man by James Baldwin the reader opens up with a scene that is considered one
of the most horrific torture and murder scenes in history; or of the 1940 s. The story is so graphic that
it takes you away from the main idea of racism, hatred and murder. Nevertheless, the theme of the
story is a transformation of a young child into a stereotypical Black Southern American hating bigot.
Through dramatic detail Baldwin explains the mindset of a white southern police officer and how he
came to hate Black Americans. This was representative of the racial, violent black South because this
exemplified what happens to most white Americans and how they are brained washed unknowingly to
hate anyone that does not resemble the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is obvious from the story and the historical period in which the story takes place that Jesse had
grown up in an extremely racist society and experienced prejudice on a daily basis from the attitude
that his father expresses toward the black race. Here, Baldwin shows how any person in any situation
can become the victim of twisted family values and societal expectations. Baldwin combines attacks
on black people during the civil rights era and the period of history to this story to allow the reader to
understand what Jesse feels on the day his innocence and perception of race was no more. The black
body was on the ground, the head was caved in, one eye was torn out one ear was hanging. But one
had to look carefully to realize this, for it was, now, merely, a black charred object on the black,

Spoken Language Discourse Essay
Language is a tool people use to communicate with others, it can be both seen and heard and it can be
standard or diverse. It is the way in which individuals share information and encompasses many forms
including written and spoken, body language and signals, visual stimuli and even the use of electronic
devices. Language can be spoken, written or signed and involves many facets. According to Gee
Hayes, 2011, language is influenced by both social and cultural environments, it is often social in that
it can be personalised to a group or individual and cultural whereby the way a person speaks is relative
to the rules of the society they live in and governed by the cultural acceptances of that society.
Our language is heard when we use spoken language and requires an individual to make and
understand verbal cues and it also provides the necessity to be able code and decode both text and non
verbal cues such as gestures and facial expressions. Within society there exist many Discourses.
Discourses determine how people view language, and more importantly, how they practise it. (Green,
D, 2006, p.3) Within a Discourse there may be many discourses that are different ways of speaking
within the overarching Discourse. For example, within a school setting you have an educational
Discourse that is the language of the department of education used to set the expected standards for
the school. Within this Discourse you have many smaller discourses such as the language used by the

Comparing Nietzsche And Freud On Crime And Punishment
Conception of civilization in Nietzsche and Freud in relation to crime and punishment Nietzsche
critiqued modern civilization since the entire scheme of modern society went against his philosophy.
Nietzsche was afraid modern society and religion would bring the individuals to nihilistic voids, as
they would eventually turn into uninteresting herds of controlled animals. Nietzsche wishes the
individuals to achieve self awareness, in that individuals would act upon themselves for what they
truly want, instead of following the social construct. This state of achieving the higher self was
defined as being the overman , which was achieved by redefining one s world, in a purely personal
manner. Thus in some sense, Nietzsche would agree that great men are criminals since they act in a
way that is not deemed good in society and stay true to what they desire. As Nietzsche states, A rebel
can be a miserable and contemptible man; but there is nothing contemptible in a revolt as such and to
be a rebel in view of contemporary society does not in itself lower the value of a man. There are even
cases in which one might have to honor a rebel, because he finds something in our society against
which war ought to be waged he awakens us from our slumber (The Will to Power, pg 391). However,
the state often suppresses these criminals from acting as the overman by demanding rules, which
create fear and guilt and prevent individuals from heightening oneself and also prevent

Augmented Reality Essay
The Innovation of Augmented Reality
INTRODUCTION
In recent years, as the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering developed rapidly, many new
technologies and inventions emerged gradually. Among these new technologies, Augmented Reality
(AR) has become a popular technique that is considered to have a large potential for the future. This
paper will indicate the definition of AR and give a brief introduction of its developing history. It will
mainly focus on introducing some different applications of AR technology and give some instances
that these applications of AR have achieved currently. Finally, there will be an evaluation of the
benefits and contributions of AR, which include a discussion of how this technique influenced the
field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and society.
A standard definition of AR is given by Azuma (1997) that Augmented Reality (AR) is a variation of
Virtual Reality (VR). This new technology is about augmenting the real world environment with
virtual information to create a mixed reality live view. According to Azuma, there are three common
characteristics of AR: the combination of real world environment and virtual information, interactive
in a real time and the scenes in 3D environment. The first characteristic states that AR allows the user
to see the real world environment combined with the virtual objects. The second characteristic
describes that during the use of AR, all the view and scenes are happening in a real time, so

Summary Of William Goldman s The Princess Bride
The Princess Bride, written by William Goldman, is no ordinary fairy tale, most fairy tales are
straightforward, the fact that it is told through a frame narrative, adding additional layers, makes the
story more confusing. Although it does not fully fit the conventions of an ordinary fairy tale, it does fit
the conventions of oral story telling. Through the preface and interruptions, Goldman simulates oral
storytelling, with a hint of fantasy, in his novel, in order to recreate the moment in which his father
told him the story.
Throughout the novel, Goldman reminds his readers that this novel should be listened to not read. The
beginning of the novel is not the actual story, but instead a preface in which a fictional William
Goldman, the narrator, tells the readers about parts of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the novel, the fictive Goldman interrupts parts of the story to add a few of his remarks, his
interruption, right before the protagonist, Buttercup, is introduced, marked the first of many. Goldman
says, When I said at the start [the preface] I d never read this book, that s true. My father read it to me
(Goldman 96). Here, the reader comes to a realization about why he is interrupting. Goldman is
abridging the novel so the readers could read it as the good parts version, in other words, the version
in which Goldman s father read to him as a child; this makes the story feel like it is told not read
(adding onto the oral story telling element). Another example of further emphasis on the story telling
aspect happens when Buttercup is in the Florin Channel, Goldman interrupts with a childhood
memory, She doesn t get eaten by sharks at this time, my father said, (107). This line, just as it
reassured young Goldman, reassured the readers through his father s voice. This supports the
storyteller role because only through an oral story can the storyteller directly respond to the listener s

Summoner s Tale
Have you ever been so angry about someone that you make a completely fake story about them?
Geoffrey Chaucer s Summoner s Tale tells a tale of a Summoner that is enraged at a Friar for his tale.
The Summoner reports his own tale about a Friar. The Friar is a beggar who goes around house to
house telling sermons and asking for gifts to the church which really goes to him. He arrives at
Thomas s house and ask for gifts in exchange for praying for him. Thomas says he gave other Friars a

When the Summoner tells the line In which a licensed friar went about / To preach also to beg, no

did accused the Friar because he was enraged with anger and was seeking payback on to the Friar for
his tale. This strengthens the plot by adding anger and revenge to the story line. Chaucer introduces a
sense of anger and revenge to strengthen the plot finally when Thomas tells the Friar he has a gift for
him and lets out a fart louder than a horse. At the end of the tale, Thomas says he has a gift for the
Friar. Thomas was annoyed by the Friar and was exceedingly angry at him. Thomas wanted revenge
from hearing that too long of a sermon and for the Friars hypocrisy. In the line To grope around his
orifice, right in / The friar s hand the fellow let a fart. / No single horse that s ever drawn a cart / Has
ever let a fart with such a sound, (2147 2150) the Summoner uses his anger to creatively create the
punishment of the fart on the Friar. This was revenge for the tale that the Friar said about the
Summoner and this strengthens the plot of the Summoner s tale. The Summoner enraged with a fury
stronger than a hurricane created a creatively weird tale about revenge and a fart with a strange plot.
To strengthen the plot, Chaucer introduces a sense of anger and revenge in The

The Importance Of Health Care
possible to the time of care, enhances credibility and accuracy of health care records (2012, p.17). This
statement specifically refers to the well documented issues related to delayed charting and nurses
recalling, often improperly, the events of a situation.
Recall is one of two ways used to re access a memory (the other is recognition). According to Mastin,
recall occurs when we remember a fact, event or object that is not physically present (2010). Mastin
continues to write that there are three main kinds of recall: free recall, cued recall, and serial recall
(2010). In a situation such as documenting, a nurse would utilize serial recall, which refers to our
ability to sequentially and chronologically remember events. However, the ... Show more content on

However, informally, nurses can work together to brainstorm the most effective and efficient ways to
accurately chart in a timely manner.
Overall, timely charting should become a habit for the nurses at Excela Home Health and Hospice
Care Service. I believe that the best change theory to set this change in motion is Kotter s 2012 Eight
Step Plan for Integrating Change. This would be the most effective because it is the most specific and
seems as though it could function throughout an entire hospital department. For example, according to
Grossman (2017), Kotter s first step is to identify a need and communicate the necessity (p. 53). In
this scenario, the need would be for more timely charting and the necessity would be to improve
patient care and nurses state of mind (it is hard to function well when tired from staying up all night
charting). The second step is to, create power in numbers to lead the change (p. 53). This would be
done by motivating the supervisors to engage both management and nurses. The third through eighth
steps involve developing the policy, communicating the policy, and then implementing and enforcing
it, and finally evaluating the functionality of the policy after it is in place. Kotter s Eight Step plan is a
very clear cut change theory that I feel covers all of

Spinal Cord Injury In The Body
A spinal cord injury does not occur in a single moment. Instead damage will continue to ensue for
days to weeks after the initial injury. The initial impact and injury causes the immediate damage and
death of oligodendrocytes and motor neurons. However, another wave of damage is caused by the
secondary processes that occur after the injury. The spinal cord is a bundle of nervous tissue and
neurons protected by the vertebral column that transmits electrical synapses, or messages, from the
brain to the rest of the body. It is composed of three layers of membranes and is protected by the bony
vertebrae that make up our vertebral column. The spinal cord upon impact will swell and secrete
chemicals which will cause an inflammatory response and will kill neighboring cells increasing the
amount of functioning lost throughout the body. The swelling can also cut off the blood flow to the ...

Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that have the potential to differentiate and specialize themselves
into specific cell types in the body. Different cell types perform different functions in the body and
because of this differentiation is important. Cells need to specialize in order to perform distinct
functions in the body. There are different types of stem cells that can be obtained from various
sources. The stem cells can be allogenic or autogenous. Allogenic stem cells are obtained from sources
within the same species, but from a different individual. Autogenic means that the cells are obtained
from the own individual (Gabel et al., 2017). There are benefits and risks associated with each type of
stem cell. Autogenous stem cells, since they are from the own individuals body, are not put at risk to
be rejected or attacked by the body by presenting itself as a foreign body. Allogenic stem cells, since
they are coming from a donor s body are at risk of rejection and Graft

Conspiracy Theory Of Autism And Autism
Millions upon millions of people would die everyday form deadly disease and there was nothing
anyone could do about it. As a result, vaccinations were created to stop the sickness and mass tragedy
that came along with them. The measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations (MMR), that are supposed
to help are being questioned by people believing they are linked to Autism. Numerous studies have
shown that there is no connection between the two. The holes and lies in this theory are prevalent
when looking in depth at how this theory was established, whom it benefits if it s true, and the facts
that disprove it. Science is supposed, to tell the truth, but because humans are the ones performing the
experiments sometimes there are flaws. For instance, Andre Wakefield in 1998 of Royal Free Hospital
in London, England, said the Measles, Mumps, and rubella vaccines were to blame for autism.
Andrew Wakefield came to this conclusion based on results found in eight out of twelve children. His
results were then published in a medical journal called Lancet. Andrew Wakefield condemnation of
vaccination caused the public to become scared ( vaccinations and Autism . . .). Andrew Wakefield s
research was the starting point of the conspiracy theory that the measles, mumps, and rubella
vaccinations cause Autism. Furthermore, It made people, especially parents of autistic kids, question
and lose trust in vaccinations. Without Wakefield s research people, might not question vaccinations as
much as

Compare And Contrast Shin And Evans
In all my years of reading comics, few storylines have managed to moved me to tears.
With the help of Stephen Shin and Daniel Evans, Aquaman attempts to uncover the truth behind the
disappearance of his mother, Queen Atlanna. The use of Shin and Evans to solve at Atlantean problem
to an extent showcased the unity of land and sea that the series has constantly thrived to achieve. Even
though he is merely a supporting character in the arc, the death of Daniel Evans was one of the
unexpected highlights thinking about it still makes me tear up a little. Aquaman s trust in Evans
coupled with his guilt over the events of Burden of Curiosity greatly magnified his transition from a
naĂŻve archeologist to an unlikely hero.
Another feature of Maelstrom was the subplot involving Gorilla City. Not only was this unexpected,
the plot extends the New 52 history of Atlantis. The reveal that Gorilla City was at one point in time a
distant colony of Atlantis, Katangala, and the connection to high heightened cerebral prowess of the
apes showed how intertwined the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the arc, Parker manages to simultaneously introduce new information, such as the use of
pocket dimensions, and close up existing plot holes, namely the prophecy behind the purple eyed
Atlanteans. Bits and pieces of Atlantean history is laid out strategically as the story progresses which
minimizes the possibly of information overload while managing to keep the readers intrigued.
Although the final confrontation with Atlanna followed the generic template, the strong writing and
artwork manages to overshadow the weak points and allows for Arthur and Atlanna take center stage
throughout the climactic battle. Atlanna s expressions of sadness at leaving Arthur again and pride
from seeing her son become such an amazing man somehow manages to blend perfectly which
definitely is a testament to Pelletier s skills as an

Odyssey Fully Embodies the Greek Idea of Heroism
Greek mythology and the epic poems written during the Hellenistic period are filled with heroes and
their adventures, highlighting the qualities that Greeks perceived as valuable in men. Odysseus, a
prime example as the protagonist of The Odyssey, fully embodies the Greek idea of heroism, using his
physical skill, as well as his clever mind to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. From
escaping the Cyclops lair to facing the suitors in Ithaca, Odysseus chooses to use strategy over brute
force often in The Odyssey and sets a precedent for future heroes of Western epics.
While Odysseus has physical strength on his side, he often exercises his mental prowess,
acknowledging that not all battles can be won with brute force. In Book IX, New Coasts and Poseidon
s Son , Odysseus and his crew are trapped in the cave of a gigantic, man eating Cyclops, Polyphemus.
This monster s size and strength clearly outmatch the physical abilities of Odysseus and his men,
creating a situation comparable to the story of David and Goliath. Instead of relying on his might,
Odysseus uses his cunning brain and concocts a clever escape plan.
Now came the time to toss for it [a six foot pole]: who ventured along with me? whose hand could
bear to thrust and grind that spike in Kyklops eye, when mild sleep had mastered him? (9.359 62)
Knowing that, under normal circumstances, the Cyclops would be easily able to fend off any attack by
him and his men, Odysseus cleverly lulls the giant to sleep,

Of Mice And Men Theme Analysis
In the novel Of Mice and Men Steinbeck, the author of this novel does a wonderful job creating many
themes. This novel is about two friends named George and Lennie and their journey during the great
depression. Even though Lennie has a disability George is always by his side and they create a
wonderful companionship. Both of them have a dream of owning their own land together and also this
dream tries to help keep Lennie in check. They meet many people during the story that also have
companions and dreams during these rough times. Two major themes that stand out during the novel is
to always follow your dreams and keep your good friends close to you. One theme that Steinbeck
shows a lot during the novel is to never let things get it in your way to follow your dreams. During the
novel, George and Lennie have a dream of owning a farm that they can do whatever they want and
they can call it their own farm. Lennie wants to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story is about travelers that move around to find paying jobs, many of these men don t have
people they travel with and are very lonely, but George and Lennie are always together. In the book,
George is very impatient and annoyed with Lennie. But without Lennie George would be just another
lonely ranch worker like the rest of the men. George even says to Lennie Guys like us, that work on
ranches are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don t belong any place....With
us, it ain t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us.
(Steinback 15)But what Lennie says after is truly signifies their great friendship A why?
Because...because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that s why.
(Steinback 15) This shows the great friendship and how they work together even though Lennie has a
disability. George gets someone that he can trust and just have someone to speak to while they

Ainsley Soli Sociology
Ainsley Soli is a good person who does not belong here. At least, that is what she has been telling
herself the last two years as she sits alone in solitary confinement in San Quentin State Prison. The
only human contact she has had in the last 742 days is with the feral, monstrous guards that pay her a
visit with a tray full of slop called prison food every day. She has not spoken one word since May 24,
2014. Sometimes she wishes she could speak, but there is no use talking when no one listens to what
you have to say. That s the problem with this whole situation. No one listened to her when she was
suddenly arrested three years ago for a crime she most certainly did not commit, and no one bothered
to believe her indignant cries when a guard randomly escorted her to solitary confinement during her
shift in the laundry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going to get you out of here. Be prepared, is written in tiny, almost illegible scrawl. Ainsley feels her
jaw go completely slack and she rereads the message over and over again just to make sure she hasn t
gone officially crazy. She lets herself hope for a second that maybe this will be her path out of this
prison. Maybe, just maybe, she ll be able to see her kids again and delve in absolute freedom. But, as
soon as she starts getting hopeful, she stops herself from getting too carried away. There s no possible
way someone is going to magically rescue her from the desolate tower and gallop into the sunset, like
some fairytale. A happily ever after isn t possible for Ainsley Soli, apparently. So, Ainsley does not
prepare like the note says, because for all she knows, she could be imagining all of this. She
remembers seeing studies about how much psychological damages occur to people in solitary
confinement. Just as she drifts in and out of sleep, eager to dream about her children, the heavy metal
door in her room slowly creaks open. Ainsley jerks out of bed as she sees a tall female guard
silhouetted in the

The Importance Of User Experience
User experience was something I knew of before but never fully understood. Since it s such a large
field where things are constantly changing and evolving, it can be difficult to keep up with the current
events as a new explorer. Fortunately, there are many resources out there that help people do just that.
Between the three sites I explored in greater depth, uxdesign.cc had the most content centred interface
and I found myself getting distracted reading up about other topics that had caught my attention.
However, the graphics were uncomfortably large on my laptop and led me to wonder if it was instead
a mobile site, which I confirmed by accessing it on my phone. From there, I found an article
discussing the impact of copy on the user and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method has been dubbed confirm shaming , when the text in the options displayed guilt trip the
user into choosing what the developer wants them to choose, leveraging guilt rather than empathy and
working in opposition to user centred design. I have personally experienced such scripts and declined
the offers out of spite because I felt irritated, leaving me with a negative impression of the site. Based
on these interactions, I have developed strong feelings against copy like that, and I was pleased to find
that this article said as much for users response to it. Such arrogance in design can be detrimental to
the user experience. Jason Fox (2017) describes narcissism in writing as times when preference is
given to a strategy, technique, or style that aligns with personal preference rather than what actually
works with a given audience (para. 9). When the designer is manipulating the user, it becomes
designer centred design, which is useless in all senses because digital designers are designing for users
and their needs, not themselves. However, there is a positive side to copy with attitude. Innovating on
states of error where a query returns no data helps create a memorable and lasting first impression of a
user s experience with a site (Fox, 2017,

A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug
Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by
blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the
management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet
when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s
most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and
sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in
palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and
hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is pain management which is more
effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015).
Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an antipsychotic drug
{tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to control nausea and vomiting
(BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting
however, some work on the brain by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others
work on the gut emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013). An
antiemetic drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s case it is a known
side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side

The Knife Of Never Letting Go Literary Devices
Effective diction, literary devices and structural devices are the most important element of a novel. In
the passage of the novel titled The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness is developed deeply by
different kinds of devices. In the authors opinion, the passage in the novel is about Todd s hatred
towards the town and how it is developed by effective diction, literary devices and structural devices.
Effective diction has a played a huge part in the development of the passage. Firstly in the passage,
there is an example of effective diction and how it adds effect to the surroundings. For example, Todd
said, You have to avoid the river and especially that marshy part before the swamp trees start cuz that s
where the crocs live, easily big enough to kill an almost man and his dog. () Todd is describing the
swamp, as marshy means a muddy, soggy piece of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Effective diction has played a huge role by developing Todd s mood, the environment and his feelings
towards Manchee. Literary devices have played a big part by advancing the events that took place near
the swamp, and structural devices have played a part refining the passage with repetition, a run on
sentence and a sentence fragment. This passage has been modified and adjusted by effective diction,
literary devices and structural devices. This passage enhances one of the major themes in this book
which is loss of innocence. Todd has slowly been losing his innocence throughout the book. This
passage represents the theme of loss of innocence because you hear Todd say the eff word as it is
referred to, as he gets smacked by Aaron. Another example of when he represented the loss of
innocence was when he gets so mad and just starts revealing his true feelings and says he hates
everybody. This is not an act of

  • 3. Coming Of Age In Mississippi Essay African Americans fought long and hard to achieve racial equality during the Civil Rights movement through protests and boycotts. But, not all forms of protest were violent. Sit ins were a non violent form of protest and proved to be a very effective. Students would go into a restaurant or cafe, order food, sit down at the white area, demand service, and not leave until they got served. They never got served; this form of protest would go on for weeks. Whites would throw food and other remains on them making the headlines at newspapers. Coming of Age in Mississippi, an autobiography written by Anne Moody, is about the life of Moody; beginning with her childhood and ending at the end of her college years. Moody was an activist during the Civil Rights movement and organized several sit ins herself. Those who engaged in sit ins were arrested, threatened by the KKK, and banned to return to their hometowns. During the Civil Rights movement, sit ins served ... Whites refused to give them that freedom and protests such as sit ins were done to receive that freedom. It made copes and whites look foolish because they reacted with violence towards something that was completely non violent. Police started arresting everybody that had anything to do with sit ins and many started to question why? White people began to also engage in this form of protest; even more attention was drawn. The more people that police arrested, the more there were that protested. In the eyes of the southern whites, having African Americans sit in at white lunch counters was against their unwritten law. • 4. Southwestern University Case Study Essay Southwestern University Case Study Summary: Southwestern University is a state college in Stephenville, Texas. The college is known for its Football and have been in the top 20 in the rankings since the appointment of legendary Bo Pitterno in 2001 as the Head coach for the team. The coach requested to upgrade the stadium or construct a new stadium to accommodate the large fan base. This request was heard by the SWU s president, Dr Joel Wisner, who decided that they would upgrade the stadium based on a forecast of when the current stadium would max out. Problem: Southwestern University is experiencing a quickly expanding football program. As a result, attendance for home games is increasing and approaching capacity. It is in the best interest of SWU to forecast attendance to aid them in deciding when the best time to expand the present stadium, which now holds 54,000. • 5. What Is A Story To Write A Short Story LITTLE WILL PENNY sat behind a dustbin in an alley just off a quiet commercial street somewhere in London listening to the sounds of the holidays. Christmas music floated above the din of traffic. A rotund old man in whiskers, glasses and a long red coat rang a bell in front of a candy shop. Kids pulled their mums and dads along the sidewalks searching for treasures in toy stores. Twinkling lights spread muted color into the gloom of the alley. Will had neither mum nor dad, nor toys, nor candy, nor anyone to give such things to a homeless boy. He had no part in the holidays, so he didn t join in the festivities. It was good that Christmas brought joy to the shoppers out on the street for a few days. But for him, it only made that vague hollow in his heart even more empty. As far as he was concerned, Christmas was for other people. Will had never celebrated Christmas because he never had a real home. All he knew of his parents came from a neighbor couple who raised him. To hear them tell it, Will was lucky they took him in. According to his foster parents, neither his mum nor his dad wanted him. His mother abandoned him when he was still an infant. To be blunt, she threw him into the snow, out in the alley behind their hut. His father was worse. He was a dark wizard, crazy, and dangerous. Instead of a wand, he carried a bronze dagger that had a mind of its own. They frequently got into bar fights, and eventually they killed someone. The Police searched for ... • 6. Ireland s Capital Of Culture Cork, Ireland is one of the most beautiful and culturally rich places on Earth. In 2005 Cork was selected as the European Capital of Culture. With Cork s landscape dotted with old English castles and great Catholic cathedrals it is not hard to understand why Cork was 2005 s capital of culture. There are many examples showing Ireland s rich cultural ties but a very good example is beer. Ireland is quite renowned for its beer production and consumption. You can trace it back no fewer than 5,000 years, back into the earliest days of Irish agriculture, when the magical trilogy of fertile soil, soft rain and gentle, cool breezes made for a climate that could produce superb barley ( A History of Beer in Ireland ). Cork happens to be headquarters of Murphy s Brewery. In 1906 Murphy s Brewery was the second largest brewery in Ireland and has remained a very large brewery ever since (Wilson). Beer is a simple example of one of the many incredible things to visit Cork for. Cork was originally founded by Saint Fin Barre in the 6th century (Riain). The city itself is situated on the River Lee. The river splits making an island which is where the city center is located; the river re converges at the eastern side of the city creating the Cork Harbour, one of the world s largest natural harbors. Viking settlers, in about the 10th century, founded a trading post in Cork. It is hypothesized that Cork was an important trading center in the Scandinavian trading network (Moody). During ... • 7. Character Analysis Of Rent The musical Rent was first produced in 1994 by Jonathan Larson and is loosely based on the opera La Boheme (1896) by Giacomo Puccini. This rock opera production tells the story of the lives of 8 bohemians living in Manhattan for a year. Many of the characters in Rent are pulled directly from Puccini s La Bohème. There are 8 main characters the story follows; Roger Davis, a musician who is HIV positive, Mimi MĂĄrquez, an exotic dancer and Roger s girlfriend, Mark Cohen, a Jewish filmmaker who is Roger s roommate, Maureen Johnson, a bisexual performance artist, Joanne Jefferson, a lawyer who is Maureen s girlfriend, Tom Collins, a gay part time philosophy professor at New York University with AIDS. Angel Dumott Schunard, a drag queen who is Collins partner, and Benjamin Benny Coffin III, their landlord and the former roommate of Roger, Mark, Collins, and Maureen. The plot of Rent borrows heavily from its predecessor. La Boheme was also based on young artists and free thinkers, and these characters were afflicted with the plague of the time period, tuberculosis. Similarly, in Rent the artists are all affected in some way by the HIV and AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. The story highlights the two roommates Mark and Roger. A former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, and Mark tries to capture the ups and downs of his friend s lives on tape through his attempts to make a film. The beginning of the film opens up to the main characters struggling to make their rent. The rest of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Nestorius Research Paper Stupidity likes to take a shower in the morning. A wave loudly crashing against a shoreline slips on a banana peel. Pinocchio is omni present, much like candy. Tomorrow is like a painted flower, it never wilts. These sentences are ridiculous, right? The way you are feeling right now after listening to them is the exact same way the council felt about Nestorius teachings. The council went even farther than nonsensicality and called him a heretic. But, more on that later. Nestorius was born in Syria in 386 AD, and was a priest and monk in the monastery of Euprepius. Theodore of Mopsuetia taught him in clerical training in Antioch. His sermons were so phenomenal that Emperor Theodosius II inaugurated him as Patriarch of Constantinople in 428 AD. Shortly after, Nestorius became involved in two theological factions debating in their Christology. One side said the Jesus was born as a man, and they called Mary Theotokos, meaning God bearer. The other side argued that this title of Mary was incorrect because God could not be born on account of his eternal nature. Nestorius tried to find a middle ground. He decided to call Mary Christokos, meaning Christ bearer. He did this so it would not seem like God was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the meeting was supposed to take place and any eastern bishops of Antioch arrived, Cyril began the assembly. He sent letters summoning Nestorius. Cyril used the Nicene Creed to disprove Nestorius, saying that Jesus flesh did not turn into the godhead, and the nature of God did not turn into flesh. He says Jesus became one with the flesh in a Hypostatic Union. Cyril proposed twelve anathemas that were accepted by the church. They basically said if anyone does or does not do something, they will be anathema. In other words, they will be condemned and basically sent to hell. • 9. Examples Of Psychoanalysis In Alien C. Psychoanalysis as a political weapon in Alien i. Male action and female inaction There are two major examples of male activeness and female passiveness in Alien: the chestburster scene and the differences between Ripley and Dallas as the protagonist. In the iconic chestburster scene the crew are seated peacefully as they prepare to return to stasis, however this peace is disturbed when Kane convulses and a chestburster bursts out of him. Only the male characters are active in this scene: Parker and Dallas initially comfort and hold Kane down, Brett holds Kane s legs down, and Ash runs from the other side (farther aways then Ripley and Lambert) to help. Ripley and Lambert initially reach out towards Kane but eventually watch in horror as the alien bursts from him. Dallas, Parker, and Brett were closer to Kane than Ripley so they have more reason for helping; and Ash is the science officer so it makes sense for him to rush towards a medical emergency. Switching one of the male characters with a female character could have expounded on the seriousness of the scene (before the arrival of the chestburster). While subtle, the difference between the actions taken by Dallas and Ripley exemplify the heterosexual differences in labor. Dallas protagonist is constantly in motion: investigating the signal, defending Ripley from the dead facehugger, and hunting the alien in the vents. Ripley s actions as protagonist are less active, especially since she follows Dallas vent plan and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were no major wars in Europe, though across the ocean the American War of Independence raged from 1775 1783. Yet there was much discontent in Europe. People were getting fed up with a two class social structure, in which a tiny group of rich people at the top of the social scale held power over a vast number of poor people at the bottom, people with virtually no rights and no way to climb out of their poverty. But power was slowly changing hands from the aristocracy to the growing middle class. This middle class came about partly through the Industrial Revolution, which brought a sudden, massive increase in the number of jobs available in mines, factories, and on the railroads. It was an age of invention: from Watt s steam engine (1775) to the hot air balloon (1783) and carbonated soda (1785)! A philosophical movement known as the Enlightenment took hold during this period. People began to believe in the power of human reason to solve social problems, to correct unjust behaviour, and to make their lives better. The rights of the individual, freedom of thought, relaxation of censorship, and the gradual abolition of child labour were just some of the changes that resulted from the ... • 12. Explaining And Discussing Dante s Vision Of Hell Explaining and Discussing Dante s Vision of Hell in The Inferno Dante s explanation of Hell has fascinated many individuals by the way it is explained, and more than likely made many use their mind and overthink it. When readers confront The Inferno, they might be surprised or blown minded by the way Dante explains what he went through. Many people after reading this might have changed their way of thinking of Hell because of Dante s lecture, or maybe some still thought the same. Not everyone thinks that there is a heaven nor a hell, everyone has different believes depending on their culture and most importantly their religion. Religion is what makes people decide what they believe in and what not to believe in. When Dante passes through the gates of Hell he knew right away it was trouble without a doubt, he explains that there is different levels in Hell depending on what that individual might have done on earth. Virgil is the one who leads Dante into the Gates of Hell, as soon as Dante enters he then hears countless cries from the many souls that lived on earth and lived their lives without being aware of their moral choices. Virgil leads Dante to Acheron, which was a river, and it marks the border of Hell according to the book. Across it there will be many dead souls waiting to be crossed. Charon was an old man who recognizes Dante and tells him to stay away from the dead in Hell but then troubles them no longer. Unexpectedly fire and wind rises up from the ... • 13. Medical Experiments During The Third Reich Have you ever heard of the Nazi Party led by Adolf Hitler, the Holocaust, or even the medical experiments of the SS? Well, get ready to learn about it. Adolf Hitler was an anticommunist that fought for Germany in WWI. He was the leader of the Nazi s. The Holocaust was a genocide in which Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germany and its collaborators killed about six million Jews. The medical experiments of the SS were experiments performed by doctors on prisoners. During World War II, a number of German physicians conducted painful and often deadly experiments on thousands of concentration camp prisoners without their consent. Unethical medical experimentation carried out during the Third Reich may be divided into three categories. The three categories consisted of experiments aimed at facilitating the survival of Axis military personnel. The second category of experimentation aimed at developing and testing pharmaceuticals and treatment methods for injuries and illnesses which German military and occupation personnel encountered in the field. While the third category of medical experimentation sought to advance the racial and ideological tenets of the Nazi worldview (https://www.ushmm.org). Doctors have always been thought of as the saviors of mankind, the healers, and caretakers of our utter existence. In the mid 1990s, the federal government faced a debt crisis caused by overspending, which is similar to America s current situation. But the Canadian government reversed course and slashed spending from 23 percent of GDP in 1993, to 17 percent by 2000, to just 15 percent today. The Canadian economy did not sink into a recession from the cuts as Keynesians would have expected but instead grew strongly during the 1990s and 2000s. Edward then stated that the solution to these problems is to downsize every federal department by cutting the most harmful programs. This study proposes specific cuts that would reduce federal spending by almost one quarter and balance the budget in less than a decade. In my opinion, I think he is right. If we reduce spending on Medicare, Medicaid, and social security and look into the defense expenses and reduced some of the spendings in some of the programs such as unnecessary equipment, submarines from the total spending of 4.4 trillion. These are the programs that make up the largest percentage compared to the other programs such as education, international aid, and foreign aid when the government cuts some of the programs mentioned above, it will help balance the budget. • 15. Garage Door How to test the balance of a garage door If you are having trouble with the garage door opening and closing, it may be due to a problem with springs. When the springs are properly adjusted, the door is balanced and can be opened easily with the garage door opener or manually. It is recommended that you check the balance of the garage door at least once a year, especially if it is typically operated with an opener. There are no tools required to test the balance, but if it isn t balanced correctly, to avoid possible severe injuries call a professional to do the repairs. What Are Garage Door Springs? There are many different parts that work together to make your garage door operate correctly, but the springs play an extremely important role. The goal of the springs is to counteract the doors force of gravity, which means the door spring is meant to make the door light enough for you to lift on your own and/or for the power from the opener to lift it up easily. A specific scene in which Miss Brodie has a negative influence on the girls academically is when Brodie set member, Mary McGregor, talks to Headmistress Mackay about signing up for the Classical side, when she does not have the grades. Headmistress Mackay states Why do you want so much to go on the Classical side, Mary? You aren t cut out for it. Don t your parents realize that? she replied Miss Brodie prefers it (Spark 67). The use of the phrase Miss Brodie prefers it suggests that the only reason Mary wants to be on the classical side is to please Miss Brodie. Headmistress Mackay even tries to tell her that you will not be successful in the classical side, but Mary pushes for it anyway because she knows that s what Miss Brodie wants. She lets her own self interest be dismissed and allows Miss Brodie to control her. Miss Brodie as an educator is aware that Mary is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Disclosure Quality Of Information Of Securities Analysts Moreover, securities analysts play the important roles of the users and providers of information and their sources of information include public information that all analysts know and private information that is possessed by individual analysts (Barron et al., 1998). Therefore, both the improvement of the transparency of listed companies public information and analysts private information can lead to an increase of the accuracy of analysts forecasts. Due to the lower costs of acquisition, the public information issued by the listed companies that act as the main sources of information of securities analysts is particularly important among them (Schipper, 1991), scholars research also focused on the correlation between the ... It can be seen that both the theoretical and empirical research of cross listing show a feature of diversification and relevant research reveal many differences, such as market selection, sample firms, model construction, etc. Most of these studies think that if enterprises go public in overseas mature markets after they are listed in domestic markets, it will be beneficial to crossing market barriers, improving the liquidity of stocks, expanding investor base and improving the degrees of cognition. • 18. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Telecommuting At Three... The article highlights the advantages and disadvantages of the phenomenon of telecommuting at three different levels: the individual, organizational, and societal level. First, Harpaz explains that telecommuting does not have single definition because of the sheer number of tasks that can now be carried out remotely and the number of ways in which this can be achieved (Harpaz, 2002, pp. 74 75). Although, telecommuting has no single definition according to Harpaz, one underlying understanding is that telecommuting in the today s society is accelerated by the development of online technological devices (Harpaz, 2002). Next, Harpaz provides lists the advantages and disadvantages of telecommuting at the individual level and provides brief explanations for them. For example, autonomy/independence is an advantage that allows the individual s control over work [to] occur more freely and naturally (Harpaz, 2002, p. 75). In conclusion, Harpaz asks rhetorical questions that should be used to identify the type of individuals and jobs that are suitable for electronic work (e work). Specifically, he asks about individual personality variables for workers and managers of telecommuting jobs in order to determine to guarantee the success of telecommuting jobs. The most influential, extending to modern times, is Latin. Latin was the vernacular of the region of Latium; the same region that gave rise to the remarkable city of Rome. Rome was perhaps the greatest empire to have taken shape in history, exerting an infinite amount of influence in politics, medicine, civilization, military, and language. Although the majority of bird watchers are pretty well informed, a guide confirm identification of birds spotted, and helps birders who may be traveling in land they haven t explored before. Many bird watchers have a bird watching life list , which is a paper that they carry around that helps them to keep up with the birds they have seen and the birds they haven t seen yet. Causes Of Migration In The World Economy Of 1870-1914 Although I explained the occurrence of wage difference between Europe and the new world, having only one data of evidence is just not enough. As an economic student, further information is needed to support the argument in the above paragraph. Since we already know income in the new world would increase over the period of 1870 to 1914, I would like to investigate the cause of it, why was it increasing when mass migration started and the population in the new world (US here at an example) began to grow rapidly. Based on the numbers provided in Table 1 (Heitger, B. (1993, February). Migration in the World Economy of 1870 1914 [Electronic version]. , 129(3), 1 10.), US experienced positive immigrations from all the sending countries in Europe, which confirmed that the population of the emigration received was indeed growing and led to the overall population growth. If the US population was growing, what happened to the real wage? Let me form a simple economic model with only downward sloping demand and upward sloping supply for both US and one of a European nation. At, equilibrium their intersection determines the real wage. Since we are talking about migration, let us assume we only have human movement between two nations. Machine and capitals are excluded by this analysis. By looking at TableA2 (Heitger, B. Many will procrastinate about this but in the end there will be an outcome with what will happen as far as building a border wall. There are many Pros and Cons to this single objective. Starting off with a Pro, Many say this is a racist act or a sign of weakness coming from our President Donald Trump. But in some cases this is an essential thing for the United States to do. This wall too many is wrong to do because our media has a big head on racial point along society today. In the long run a wall could be really beneficial as a commodity for the security of our great nation. Jeff Corwin stated that If this border wall actually happens, it will be an environmental catastrophe. Essentially, what it s doing is cutting through nature s bridge, which connects Central America to North America and South America. Which in many cases this can be supported but then again many people work very hard to become a citizen in the United States for many to come across the border to get here illegally and to most this is unfair. To make another main statement given the rising global instability in North Korea and the Middle East with a strong and supportive border it would be harder for terrorist to get their hands on biological, chemical or radiological weapons. There exists a retreat that can provide a new experience and deeper healing to those in need. People have attempted several different techniques, but nothing has given them the healing that they truly are desperate for. Life is a hard journey and at times people feel as they have climbed mountains only to be pushed off the other side. Getting up can be hard, but there are so many helpful resources to fit the many types of healing needs. In today s society, doctors often prescribe handfuls of medication to help in the healing process, yet for some this attempt at numbing the pain just doesn t work. Others look to a higher power for answers, and others start a pattern of self medication that can quickly spiral out of control, therefore making things much worse. • 32. Spoken Language Discourse Essay Language is a tool people use to communicate with others, it can be both seen and heard and it can be standard or diverse. It is the way in which individuals share information and encompasses many forms including written and spoken, body language and signals, visual stimuli and even the use of electronic devices. Language can be spoken, written or signed and involves many facets. According to Gee Hayes, 2011, language is influenced by both social and cultural environments, it is often social in that it can be personalised to a group or individual and cultural whereby the way a person speaks is relative to the rules of the society they live in and governed by the cultural acceptances of that society. Our language is heard when we use spoken language and requires an individual to make and understand verbal cues and it also provides the necessity to be able code and decode both text and non verbal cues such as gestures and facial expressions. Within society there exist many Discourses. Discourses determine how people view language, and more importantly, how they practise it. (Green, D, 2006, p.3) Within a Discourse there may be many discourses that are different ways of speaking within the overarching Discourse. • 33. Comparing Nietzsche And Freud On Crime And Punishment Conception of civilization in Nietzsche and Freud in relation to crime and punishment Nietzsche critiqued modern civilization since the entire scheme of modern society went against his philosophy. Nietzsche was afraid modern society and religion would bring the individuals to nihilistic voids, as they would eventually turn into uninteresting herds of controlled animals. Nietzsche wishes the individuals to achieve self awareness, in that individuals would act upon themselves for what they truly want, instead of following the social construct. This state of achieving the higher self was defined as being the overman , which was achieved by redefining one s world, in a purely personal manner. Thus in some sense, Nietzsche would agree that great men are criminals since they act in a way that is not deemed good in society and stay true to what they desire. As Nietzsche states, A rebel can be a miserable and contemptible man; but there is nothing contemptible in a revolt as such and to be a rebel in view of contemporary society does not in itself lower the value of a man. There are even cases in which one might have to honor a rebel, because he finds something in our society against which war ought to be waged he awakens us from our slumber (The Will to Power, pg 391). However, the state often suppresses these criminals from acting as the overman by demanding rules, which create fear and guilt and prevent individuals from heightening oneself and also prevent ... She flipped to the back, No, there is nothing. Right here, I said, pointing at the lines. Gifted eyes allow you to become one free yourself. It s time for me to free myself. Marie, there is nothing there! So much is there, so much to see, you just cannot. You are not one; you are not gifted like me. I can be free. The void will save me, I shall live free. • 37. Augmented Reality Essay The Innovation of Augmented Reality INTRODUCTION In recent years, as the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering developed rapidly, many new technologies and inventions emerged gradually. Among these new technologies, Augmented Reality (AR) has become a popular technique that is considered to have a large potential for the future. This paper will indicate the definition of AR and give a brief introduction of its developing history. It will mainly focus on introducing some different applications of AR technology and give some instances that these applications of AR have achieved currently. Finally, there will be an evaluation of the benefits and contributions of AR, which include a discussion of how this technique influenced the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and society. A standard definition of AR is given by Azuma (1997) that Augmented Reality (AR) is a variation of Virtual Reality (VR). This new technology is about augmenting the real world environment with virtual information to create a mixed reality live view. According to Azuma, there are three common characteristics of AR: the combination of real world environment and virtual information, interactive in a real time and the scenes in 3D environment. The first characteristic states that AR allows the user to see the real world environment combined with the virtual objects. The second characteristic describes that during the use of AR, all the view and scenes are happening in a real time, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Summary Of William Goldman s The Princess Bride The Princess Bride, written by William Goldman, is no ordinary fairy tale, most fairy tales are straightforward, the fact that it is told through a frame narrative, adding additional layers, makes the story more confusing. Although it does not fully fit the conventions of an ordinary fairy tale, it does fit the conventions of oral story telling. Through the preface and interruptions, Goldman simulates oral storytelling, with a hint of fantasy, in his novel, in order to recreate the moment in which his father told him the story. Throughout the novel, Goldman reminds his readers that this novel should be listened to not read. The beginning of the novel is not the actual story, but instead a preface in which a fictional William Goldman, the narrator, tells the readers about parts of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the novel, the fictive Goldman interrupts parts of the story to add a few of his remarks, his interruption, right before the protagonist, Buttercup, is introduced, marked the first of many. Goldman says, When I said at the start [the preface] I d never read this book, that s true. My father read it to me (Goldman 96). Here, the reader comes to a realization about why he is interrupting. Goldman is abridging the novel so the readers could read it as the good parts version, in other words, the version in which Goldman s father read to him as a child; this makes the story feel like it is told not read (adding onto the oral story telling element). Another example of further emphasis on the story telling aspect happens when Buttercup is in the Florin Channel, Goldman interrupts with a childhood memory, She doesn t get eaten by sharks at this time, my father said, (107). This line, just as it reassured young Goldman, reassured the readers through his father s voice. This supports the storyteller role because only through an oral story can the storyteller directly respond to the listener s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Summoner s Tale Have you ever been so angry about someone that you make a completely fake story about them? Geoffrey Chaucer s Summoner s Tale tells a tale of a Summoner that is enraged at a Friar for his tale. The Summoner reports his own tale about a Friar. The Friar is a beggar who goes around house to house telling sermons and asking for gifts to the church which really goes to him. He arrives at Thomas s house and ask for gifts in exchange for praying for him. Thomas says he gave other Friars a load of pounds, (1951) but the Friar does not believe him and goes on a sermon. This strengthens the plot by adding anger and revenge to the story line. Chaucer introduces a sense of anger and revenge to strengthen the plot finally when Thomas tells the Friar he has a gift for him and lets out a fart louder than a horse. At the end of the tale, Thomas says he has a gift for the Friar. Thomas was annoyed by the Friar and was exceedingly angry at him. Thomas wanted revenge from hearing that too long of a sermon and for the Friars hypocrisy. In the line To grope around his orifice, right in / The friar s hand the fellow let a fart. / No single horse that s ever drawn a cart / Has ever let a fart with such a sound, (2147 2150) the Summoner uses his anger to creatively create the punishment of the fart on the Friar. This was revenge for the tale that the Friar said about the Summoner and this strengthens the plot of the Summoner s tale. This statement specifically refers to the well documented issues related to delayed charting and nurses recalling, often improperly, the events of a situation. Recall is one of two ways used to re access a memory (the other is recognition). According to Mastin, recall occurs when we remember a fact, event or object that is not physically present (2010). Mastin continues to write that there are three main kinds of recall: free recall, cued recall, and serial recall (2010). Overall, timely charting should become a habit for the nurses at Excela Home Health and Hospice Care Service. I believe that the best change theory to set this change in motion is Kotter s 2012 Eight Step Plan for Integrating Change. This would be the most effective because it is the most specific and seems as though it could function throughout an entire hospital department. For example, according to Grossman (2017), Kotter s first step is to identify a need and communicate the necessity (p. 53). In this scenario, the need would be for more timely charting and the necessity would be to improve patient care and nurses state of mind (it is hard to function well when tired from staying up all night charting). The second step is to, create power in numbers to lead the change (p. 53). This would be done by motivating the supervisors to engage both management and nurses. The third through eighth steps involve developing the policy, communicating the policy, and then implementing and enforcing it, and finally evaluating the functionality of the policy after it is in place. The initial impact and injury causes the immediate damage and death of oligodendrocytes and motor neurons. The spinal cord is a bundle of nervous tissue and neurons protected by the vertebral column that transmits electrical synapses, or messages, from the brain to the rest of the body. It is composed of three layers of membranes and is protected by the bony vertebrae that make up our vertebral column. As a result, vaccinations were created to stop the sickness and mass tragedy that came along with them. The measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations (MMR), that are supposed to help are being questioned by people believing they are linked to Autism. Numerous studies have shown that there is no connection between the two. The holes and lies in this theory are prevalent when looking in depth at how this theory was established, whom it benefits if it s true, and the facts that disprove it. Science is supposed, to tell the truth, but because humans are the ones performing the experiments sometimes there are flaws. For instance, Andre Wakefield in 1998 of Royal Free Hospital in London, England, said the Measles, Mumps, and rubella vaccines were to blame for autism. Andrew Wakefield came to this conclusion based on results found in eight out of twelve children. His results were then published in a medical journal called Lancet. Andrew Wakefield condemnation of vaccination caused the public to become scared ( vaccinations and Autism . . .). Odyssey Fully Embodies the Greek Idea of Heroism Greek mythology and the epic poems written during the Hellenistic period are filled with heroes and their adventures, highlighting the qualities that Greeks perceived as valuable in men. Odysseus, a prime example as the protagonist of The Odyssey, fully embodies the Greek idea of heroism, using his physical skill, as well as his clever mind to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. From escaping the Cyclops lair to facing the suitors in Ithaca, Odysseus chooses to use strategy over brute force often in The Odyssey and sets a precedent for future heroes of Western epics. While Odysseus has physical strength on his side, he often exercises his mental prowess, acknowledging that not all battles can be won with brute force. In Book IX, New Coasts and Poseidon s Son , Odysseus and his crew are trapped in the cave of a gigantic, man eating Cyclops, Polyphemus. This monster s size and strength clearly outmatch the physical abilities of Odysseus and his men, creating a situation comparable to the story of David and Goliath. A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is pain management which is more effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015). Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an antipsychotic drug {tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to control nausea and vomiting (BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting however, some work on the brain by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others work on the gut emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013).
