The Dada Movement
The Dada movement was an art movement that broke away from the traditional norms of art as well as
the traditional mediums. Mediums like photomontage, photograms(rayographs), and readymade art
pieces were becoming prevalent during this movement. Hannah Höch and Raoul Hausmann were both
prominent artists of the movement that individually had success with their photomontage artworks.
Hannah Hoch s Cut with the Kitchen Knife Dada through the Last Weimar beer Belly Cultural Epoch
of Germany and Raoul Hausmann s ABCD are perfect examples of the purpose of the Dada Movement.
Both Höch s Cut with the Kitchen Knife and Hausmann s ABCD possess several of the central
characteristics, anti war, anti art, and anti bourgeois, that define the Dada movement. ... Show more

Hausmann s ABCD is less dense in it s use of cut out pictures and covers a less broad topic. Höch s
piece is a lot more cluttered with images and tries to encompass the whole idea of Dada. her piece is
much more political than Hausmann s piece and has feministic theme through out the entirety of her
artwork s composition. In the center of her collage she has the head of Käthe Kollwitz, radical antiwar
artist, above the dancing ballerina.(2a) Also in the bottom right corner in Dada world Höch has cut out
her head and put in top of a map of Europe where several countries are colored in black, representing
the countries where women still couldn t vote. Hausmann s ABCD has a much more personal theme
that details many of his relationships with fellow artists in Dada as well as his own artworks. Also the
general look of ABCD differs from Höch s piece because it looks more fragmented in how the photos
and items are assembled. None of Hausmann s items seem to belong to a particular space where as
Höch s photos all corroborate with each other in the

Ethnic And Racial Diversity
After reading the ethnic and racial differences chapter, what stood out for me was how much ethnicity
and culture could negatively affect a student s academic life. It is important to treat those of different
ethnicities, races and cultures the same as you would treat anyone else, including yourself. Ethnicity is
defined as a cultural heritage or characteristics shared by a group, such as history, homeland, language,
traditions or religion (Woolfolk Margetts, Educational Psychology, 2016). There are many types of
ethnicities; Australia alone has 35 different types of ethnic groups. Everyone has family heritage
extending from somewhere else in the world, the most common include Italian, Greek, German and
Irish, and this forms part of your ethnic heritage. My family heritage extends from Holland and
Germany, where my mothers side of my family were all born in Holland and migrated just before my
mother was born, my fathers family migrated from Germany during the 1800 s. Race is defined as a
socially constructed category of people who share biologically transmitted traits (Woolfolk Margetts,
Educational Psychology, 2016). These traits include common features such as skin colour and hair
texture. As I was born in Australia and my heritage descends from Europe, I am classified as White.
Other race categories include African American or Black, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian
and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. Biologically there are no pure races

Nobel Laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez a Champion for Latin...
The works of the late 1982 Columbian literary Nobel Laureate Gabriel Garica Marquez reflect not only
the sentiments of postcolonial Columbians, but also the surreal realities lived by Latin Americans in the
New World. This surreal reality is what Marquez has become synonymous with magic realism. The
literary genre, magic realism, can be found in Marquez s books and short stories such as 100 Years of
Solitude and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings . Literary critics and audience alike have marveled
at how Marquez masterfully connected the ethereal and the mundane with such precision in diction and
syntax that the narratives seem more than commonplace but actually feasible and tangible. In Marquez

Foremost, in the early 1980s, Latin America was still in need of assistance and they were fighting for
survival economically amid a massive economic depression. After the occupation of power by militant
dictators in the mid 20th century, most Spanish speaking countries, particularly Cuba like Columbia,
experienced economic hardship both from internal and external powers. Additionally, the passage
contends the concept that Latin America is in a state of solitude, in which leads to a form of solidarity
amongst the Latin American community. Furthermore, he also argues that whites figuratively use the
yard stick to measure the capabilities of Latin America. The points of this lecture capitalize on his
beliefs and concepts while contending that his work exemplify the experiences of the Latin American.
Marquez s lecture promulgates Marquez s notion that with solitude came their undefined, mythical
culture. In fact, Marquez s experiences as a child with his grandparents solidify that notion. Marquez s
grandmother raised him and in his childhood she told him fantastical stories; likewise, Marquez s
grandfather raised him, too, and told him horrific stories of his experience fighting in the Thousand
Days War. Both accounts inspired Marquez s magic realism and the significance of the stories asserts
itself in the Nobel Laureate s discussion of Latin culture and politics. As Marquez discusses Latin
culture in his lecture he affirms his notion of solitude birthing

Spider Monkeys In Anthropology
The article I chose is about spider monkeys and a problem scientists have found with their grooming
habits. Since these monkeys are endangered, scientist were studying ways to keep them healthy before
they all die off. It was found that by grooming each other, they are getting off parasites on the skin but
also ones from inside. These parasites can be found on dead skin that the other monkeys end up pulling
off during grooming which then transmits to the groomer. Since the monkeys don t stay around the
same group all the time, this parasite gets transmitted more easily and quickly. Now scientist can begin
to work on trying to save these monkeys and other endangered primates with this new information. The

Myanmar Is Entering A New Era
Executive Summary Myanmar is located between Bangladesh and Thailand, bordering the Andaman
Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The country borders five nations and is endowed with rich natural
resources. Strategic location, rich endowments of natural resources, abundant agricultural/marine
resources, high tourism potential, attractive labor force and ASEAN membership are Myanmar s
advantages. Myanmar is entering a new era. After decades of repressive rule and self imposed isolation,
Myanmar, in 2011, begun reforms with significant political, economic and social changes. On the path
of change, Myanmar had since institutionalized democratic governance, opened up the economy,
liberalized the press. Efforts were made to conclude peace agreements with ethno nationalist insurgent
movements and to de escalate religious tensions. Investors are actively considering Myanmar as an
emerging economy. Its recent reforms opened up a wide range of economic opportunities in attracting
foreign businesses establishing in Myanmar. These are enabling employment and infrastructure. This
report analyses the political, legal, economical/financial, social/cultural and technological aspects of
Myanmar to address the opportunities Myanmar holds for foreign investments. Challenges continue to
confront Myanmar. These are widespread poverty and underdevelopment, a lack of administrative and

Insanity In Jane Eyre And Wide Sargasso Sea
Identity is portrayed as a crucial element to life in both novels Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Bronte,
and Wide Sargasso Sea written by Jean Rhys. The protagonists in both novels experience hardship
when attempting to acquire a sense of identity resulting in insanity or virtual madness..In Jean Rhys s
Wide Sargasso Sea, and Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, identity and insanity are presented as connecting
themes through symbols that emphasize societal expectations, conflict between race, blindness, duality
and their damaging effect on Jane, and her mirror Antoinette who both suffer from insanity due to their
non existent place in society. The expectations of society strip Jane and Antoinette of their

But it had gone wild. The paths were overgrown and a smell of dead flowers mixed with the fresh
living smell (Rhys, 1966). When Antoinette is describing her garden at Coulibri she describes the
flowers as being potently blended between living and dead, a juxtaposition which Rhys utilizes in order
to encapsulate Antoinette s identity. Antoinette being Creole is a mixture between two cultures leaving
her separated from society, the flowers being both living and dead represents Antoinette being both
white and west Indie. Another aspect of this symbolism is that Antoinette is also between life and
death; she is a living human being, but the suffering she has endured leads to her desire for death

The Short And Medium Term Needs For Emergency Shelter
Intro
Contemporary designers and architects are addressing the short and medium term needs of people who
require emergency and refugee shelters, by evaluating the requirements of people once they have been
displaced from their home due to a natural disaster, or any other adversity that they may face. This
article will compare and contrast different types of emergency shelters, both short and long term, and
appraise the key considerations that contemporary designers and architects must make while creating
these refuges.
Addressing short and medium term needs for emergency shelter
A short term emergency shelter is usually something that people call transitional accommodation. The
short term needs for an emergency shelter consist of: A place to sleep, a roof over their head, showers,
cleans drinking water and food. Designer s need to come up with a way that they can gain access to
clean water and safe food in the midst of a natural disaster, and how they will get it to them as quickly
as possible, whilst making sure there is enough room in the housing estate to look after everyone whose
been evicted from their home, or their home has been damaged and ruined in one way or another.
Medium and long term needs in emergency shelters change a little bit, with them still needing all the
basics, but also then having things readily available like doctors, medication, physiatrists, and
educational tools like a local school, or books for the children to read in there spare time. They

How long could one person watch animal, crime, and history documentaries? For normal people,

There is no offence of homicide as such. A person cannot be charged with or convicted of homicide .
Homicide (Latin: homicidium, Latin: homo human being + Latin: caedere to cut, kill) means the killing
of a human being [Irving, Shae, ed (2009) and may be lawful where, for example, fatal force was
necessary to defend oneself. The two most important offences of unlawful homicide are murder and
manslaughter. Although both are common law offences, elements of murder and manslaughter have
been modified by Acts of Parliament and the penalties for each are statutory.

The Development of Gross negligence manslaughter
For many years the courts have used the terms recklessness and gross negligence to describe the fault
required for involuntary manslaughter, other than constructive manslaughter, without any clear
definition of either term. It was not clear whether these terms were merely two ways of describing the
same thing, or whether they represented two distinct conditions of fault.
All previous cases must now be read in the light of Prentice, Adomako and Holloway in the Court of
Appeal, and Adomako in the House of Lords. The background to the decisions is that the House of
Lords decided in Seymour that the law governing involuntary manslaughter, other than unlawful act
manslaughter, was the same as that of the statutory offence (now repealed) of causing death by reckless
driving, that is, that the fault required was Lawrence recklessness, as set out above subject to the
omission of any reference to a risk of causing damage to property. There had to be a risk of physical
injury to some other person [Kong Cheuck Kwnan]. According to this controversial decision of the
House of Lords in Seymour, the Lawrence direction was comprehensive and of general application and

people who believes that there is something that is kept hidden from the general public. Unfortunately,
this information about numerous conspiracies always been a mystery, which the expert who worked in
this field for decades are struggling to unravel the mystery. Not to mention Area 51 and the Alien is a
conspiracy that withstood the test of time, lasting for several decades. In addition, Area 51 and the
Alien conspiracy theory commence by discussing how the remnant of the crashed UFO spacecraft is
inside Area 51. To clarify, Area 51 is an Air Force base about 90 miles north from Las Vegas (Aliens,
An Introduction To The Truth They Exist). It was in Area 51 base where the government scientist
attempt to reconstruct the aliens highly advanced technology. Furthermore, various strategies were
employing to enhance the point that the government is hiding the crashed UFO in a secret base and
attempting to reconstruct this device. The rhetorical strategies utilized by the conspiracy theorist were
ethos, pathos, and logos. To begin with, pathos is heavily used to prove that there was a UFO that
crashed in Area 51. For example, an old picture of a warning sign of Area 51 outlining what should not

My Personal Statement Of Basic Electrical Engineering
The knowledge grows exponentially. The more we know the greater our ability to learn and the faster
we expand our knowledge base. This statement by great Novelist Dan Brown characterizes my belief.
Ever since I was a child I was always fascinated by Science and my interests drove me towards
becoming an Engineer. As I grew up I always made it a point that I learn something new from wherever
possible.
My father, right from the start of his career, has been working in Electrical Engineering and
maintenance based companies. He always used to come up with some photographs of huge
transformers or generators which really fascinated me in my childhood. Those photographs and his
experiences were the reasons why I selected Electrical Engineering as my B.Tech course.
On my first day of Engineering life, the lecture of Basic Electrical Engineering was something that
generated keen interest in my heart about this core field. Electrical being mother of different branches
of Engineering I could learn even Electronics and Programming based subjects parallel to our field. I

due to the fact that Christa McAuliffe would become the first teacher to go into space but because a
probe whose purpose was to examine Halley s Comet would beat a similar probe the Russians would

NASA was informed that they needed to realize that there was a disconnect between management and
their working engineers (Feynman Leighton Pg. 236). The public deserved for NASA to inform them of
what was happening and to know that NASA had changed their approach to the space shuttle campaign.
There had to be a change in schedule, there had to be an update in technology, and there had to be a
change in how design and application were approached (Feynman Leighton Pg. 236). All Morton
Thiokol did was suggest the addition of a third O ring and did not seek to improve the current design or
find better materials for the seal. However, they took responsibility for their part and their data that had
not been tested enough. It was also their responsibility to pay retribution for the accident as well as
accept any and all liability charges. NASA should have taken some of the liability due to the fact that it
was essentially their final decision to launch the shuttle despite all of the evidence against so doing.
The managers that made the decision to launch should have been held accountable for the lives of the
astronauts. Mr. Malloy and Mr. Hardy should have been taken to trial for homicide but, due to the
scope and fact that it was the fault of multiple people and companies, they were never tried. However,
they gave the go for the launch so they should have at least been fired from NASA and have their

Non Fiction Setting
There are several aspects that, while not necessarily essential, are very important in creating a story.
Note that this only applicable to works of fiction, non fiction is of course based on facts. For a story to
be worth reading there should be a main character or characters, a conflict, feeling, a plot, and a setting.
Even if this work is a parody of another, the new work should contain the same or similar basic aspects
as the original. The first two elements of writing that can and should be gone through before even
writing are the characters and the setting. Most of the time these two will be similar, a cowboy near the
Colorado River, the galactic rangers on the Armēnè asteroid belt, or the seven knights of Hrathgàr at
the gates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The actions and dialogue of the characters should have a purpose that the reader can look deeper into.
The description of people, places, and things should also be a well practiced skill. The main goal
should be to leave a lasting impression on the reader. As an example The brave hero stood strong
against his terror including foe, the man he once saw as a brother, the mighty dark mage Zerross. Their
battle was equally matched, though the mage was pushed farther and farther back with each swing of
the hero s mighty sword the mage was pushed farther back. The had also become injured, several
broken ribs, a large burn across his war torn chest, and millions of cuts and bruises adorned his body.
Zerross began to gather power from around him, and soon started to glow with an ethereal light.
However, the hero stood his ground and readied his blade. With the flick of the wrist the dark mage
sent out a beam of pure energy with the power to split the earth in two at the hero. In return, the hero
simply stood with his sword at his side, and fell to his knees without anymore energy to fight. The
beam hit its mark, directly through the hero s heart. The dark mage stood triumphant as the hero fell
and the heavens wept. For clarification, these elements are only guidelines. The final product is the
expression of the writer, and rightfully so. These aspects are instead meant to help draw in the reader, to
make them see the story in their mind as if they were watching a movie. Also, if there is enough of an
emotional tie with a character, then that character will be left in the minds of the readers for months or
even years. The one aspect of a great novel is its ability to be

Walt Disney Concert Hall
Public Spaces provide unique experiences and contribute to the identity of a city. Found as places like
plazas, parks, marketplaces, within buildings, lobbies and many more. Public spaces are important to
our society and therefore face more arguments in design and construction compared to private spaces.
In order to create innovative public architecture, considered to be the most civic, costly, time intensive
and physical of the arts, the project holds a degree of risk, strife, and negotiation . Overcoming these
tasks and creating worthy public architecture is a challenge designers try to accomplish, but are rarely
successful. The people involved in a potential public building, can be larger than the building itself.

And how would the building relate to the greater urban context?
Nicholas felt that to gain a clearer understanding of the issues involved, he arranged a research tour of
great concert halls around the world in November 1987. After the research and experience the travelers
shared, the Berlin Philharmonie Hall by Hans Scharon was one of the groups favorite for its
combination of acoustical excellence and audience intimacy. From there Ernest Fleischman, head of LA
Phil during the time, agreed he wanted the Disney Concert Hall to be a single purpose hall that is
inviting, open and accessible to the street and related it to the experience of the Berlin Philharmonie.
The next step for the Walt Disney Concert Hall is a crucial one, choosing the architect for the Hall. The
list began with eighty different architects from around the world. Through extensive processing and
interviewing, the selection slimmed down to four architects: Goffried Bohm, Frank Gehry, Hans
Hollein, and James Stirling.
From the start many people in the Music Center were opposed to Frank Gehry and his reputation of
being an architectural wild man . In the end Gehry demonstrated consideration of what the building in
Los Angeles should be. Even though the designs Gehry presented during the competition were not
used, Gehry showed his understanding for the program; the important relationship looking to be
expressed between musician and audience and his previous work with other music venues.

blinded by the threat of the cold war their the plan failed, since as we can see throughout the novel,
what the people got in exchange from Trujillo was far worse; genocide, terror, rape and pillage, etc.
Vargas Llosa uses violent language and profanities to express Trujillo s aggressive behaviour and cruel,
bitter attitude towards those around him. He refers to others in racist terms, which reveals from as very
early stage his xenophobic mindset and absolute superiority; this is clearly true due to his intolerance
for other races and nationalities. His character also uses an abundance of homophobic slurs and seems
very concerned by only associating with manly men. Nearly every woman Trujillo comes across is
considered as a sexual object for him to own, in a way that is almost primal. Most females he comes
across in the novel are referred to as bitch , showing clear disregard for the opposite sex and even deep
rooted anger towards them; we later learn that this is due to his sexual difficulty with Urania which
turns into frustration. However, faced with this clear sign of his ageing and decline, Trujillo is unable to
confront his own reality, and turns viciously against the closest thing he can blame other than himself:
women. We cannot rely wholly on this depiction of Trujillo as a dictator. First and foremost, La

Technology And Its Impact On The Medical Field
In the world we live in today technology is always advancing; having many great effects in our
personal lives and in the medical field, one of which being the technical advances on magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI). MRIs have been a great resource for us to use to help diagnose people in a
way we have never been able to before. A magnetic resonance imaging scan uses a large magnet, radio
waves, and a computer to create a detailed cross sectional image of the patient s internal organs and
structures, (Lam). Being able to examine patients in a noninvasive way and take pictures of what their
organs look like is a huge medical advance proving to us that we can help diagnose more people in a
less harmful way and are able to treat them faster and give them a better prognosis. But we cannot
forget what came before the MRI, which was nuclear resonance imaging (NMR). NMR is the key piece
to magnetic resonance imaging and if it weren t for the discovery of NMR and it s many uses we
wouldn t have MRI scanners. The evolution of MRIs has left a profound impact on the scientific
community, particularly in the field of medicine. Before bringing up the topic of MRI scanners it would
be useful to have some background information on the science behind it all. Starting with nuclear
resonance imaging, what it is, the discovery itself, and how it became relevant to the topic of MRI
scanners. NMR spectroscopy is the use of NMR phenomena to study the physical, chemical, and

The Difference Between Bisimulation And Forced Simulation
Literature Review: The difference between Bisimulation and Forced Simulation Haowei Zheng
hzhe024@aucklanduni.ac.nz 1. INTRODUCTION
Currently, component reuse techniques have become more and more important for handling the rapidly
increasing complexities of component based embedded system. Bisimulation is a well known technique
which has been proposed in the very early stage of simulation development. It provides the
functionality of checking for process equivalent in process algebras. Many applications have been
developed by using this technique. However, there are still some issues regarding using bisimulation
technique. One specific issue is component matching problem. To better resolve this problem, a new
technique which is called forced simulation is proposed and developed. In this article, we will carry out
a literature review to discover the difference between forced simulation technique and bisimulation
technique.
In the following sections, first of all the component matching problem will be explained more detailed.
Then the definition of bisimulation and forced simulation will be shown. After that, an example of
these two different techniques will be shown for comparing the difference between them.
2. COMPONENT MATCHING PROBLEM
In component based embedded system, component reuse methodologies has been an important focus of
industry since the complexities of modern embedded system are increasing rapidly. However, there are
several unresolved issues in this

Social Determinants of Health and Phenomenology to Practice
The purpose of this paper is to thoroughly analyze a patient from a pathophysiological, social, and
philosophical perspective. The World Heath Organization (WHO) social determinants of health will be
applied to the patient data, emphasizing a phenomenological approach to analyze the determinant of
physical environment. By understanding these various influences on a patient s health status, we can
provide a more holistic approach to health care for future patients.
Discussion of Assessment Findings and Application to Social Determinants A 59 year old male, whose
initials have been changed to J.S. due to confidentiality purposes, will be the patient for this paper. J.S.
was admitted on January 12, 2014 to the Emergency Room (ER) complaining of vomiting every 15
minutes and abdominal pain rated at eight out of ten, on a scale where ten is the highest pain level. J.S.
described his abdominal pain as expanding from the inside of my stomach (personal communication,

The Future Of Oppression In Black Mirror s San Junipero
The Future of Oppression Black Mirror s San Junipero is an episode that, on the surface, seems to be a
simple love story between two women, Yorkie and Kelly. They meet in the virtual town of San
Junipero, a town that feels very real, but is essentially a simulation where they can be uploaded when
they pass over , their consciousnesses permanently stored in the cloud, alive in the virtual town. Both
are still living but are close to death and are in San Junipero as tourists , allowed to test drive life in the
virtual town for a limited time. They fall in love and their whirlwind romance overcomes Kelly s moral
reservations about being uploaded and Yorkie s reservations of being out with her sexuality. It also
provides Yorkie a chance to live the life that she was denied because of the quadriplegia she suffered
from an accident following her parents poor reaction to her coming out, that paralyzed her before she
truly got to experience life. Hidden underneath the optimistic love story, however, are levels that
suggest that regardless of its invisibility in this story, the patriarchy is still very much in control,
symbolically oppressing them without even needing to be present. The episode was written by Charlie
Brooker, a white man, a paragon of privilege. Despite his privilege, Brooker s work always comments
on and critiques society s standards and future. By delaying the reveal of crucial plot points, such as the
fact that San Junipero is not a physical town, rather an advanced virtual reality, merely hinting at it with
a slow build, Brooker is able to hold the audience captive. Denying information and providing clues
allows viewers to uncover the truth for themselves, to speculate and remain active watchers. The story
may differ depending on the viewer because it truly depends on what the viewer has been trained to
search for in media and what their personal experiences and history are. All in all, the surface level
story is simple enough to pick up on. Even if viewers are not attuned to Brooker s subtle metaphor,
subtle subtext, they will be able to see the story of two women falling in love in a virtual town. Those
attuned to his style or to interpret within the context of oppression will see another

A Short Note On The Cell Phone Industry
Although Microsoft was slow to join the cell phone war, and was unsuccessful in partaking in the
market even with theier $7.2MM purchased of Nokia in 2013, our team believes the cell phone market
is now ready for a Microsoft Surface cell phone. After all, Microsoft holds a solid reputation in
operating and security software shouldn t they be able to produce a desirable phone? Our team believes
it can. The cell phone industry is dynamic and thriving market that offers a place to innovation. Despite
the losses already assumed by Microsoft which includes, assumed infringement liabilities by the
purchase of the Nokia cell phone line, and the added expenses in the amount of $780 million under the
Phone Hardware Restructuring Plan (SEC, 10Q dated 09/2016), our team feels Microsoft is in a good
position to release a desirable and successful phone line. Furthermore, our team also believes that
Microsoft invested in the market to leave the table at this point. As Leo Sun from TMSunLion said: it

Introduction Of Internet Based Procurement Essay
The term e procurement gained popularity around the year 2000. Emergence of the two competitors
Ariba and Commerce One, companies that specialized in the support of electronic procurement for
MRO products, changed the way indirect MRO spend used to be looked upon. Introduction of internet
based procurement applications prompted a change from a centrally organized procurement (central
buying) department to desktop procurement environment, where the employee in need of a product
would initiate the purchase transaction electronically. With these two trends, decentralized purchasing
and multi vendor catalogues , the conduit toward electronic support of the MRO buying process was
paved. Thus, over the period, spend analysts have started observing carefully, to increase spend under
management and implement better control over tail spend in order to reduce the amount of fulfilling
formalities and time consumed in procuring these products.
Understanding E Procurement in the MRO space
With the advent of Internet technology in the area of MRO, the procurement of indirect material such
as office supplies and services also became feasible for electronic support. Indirect procurement is
based on ad hoc activities which are difficult to put into an electronically supported workflow. Since
the products needed in this area are less frequently bought and usually of low value, companies shy
away from maintaining material master data for indirect products. The study of Subramaniam and

Virgil s Mentor Role
The concept of a mentor as a means to provide much needed perspective and character development to
both protagonists and tertiary characters in a narrative is a common one in literature both old and new.
The medieval period is no exception, with mentors, and the idea of mentoring playing a major role in
all three of our selections from the medieval period namely: The Divine Comedy, The conference of the
birds, and Revelations of Divine Love. Mentors in literature act as the voice of reason and experience,
guiding their charges towards a goal or idea by virtue of their wisdom. They are also readily used as a
source of exposition for the reader, and information for the main character. These qualities often make
the mentor an unsung hero in their respective tales, as without their guidance, the protagonist(s) would
have been unable to achieve their goals. However, though the function of a mentor is relatively
constant, the methods employed and the direction of their guidance varies widely. The three works
which we have examined each showcase a different form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Virgil is very like a father figure to Dante, wise, patient, and protective, yet stern and admonishing
when necessary. His kindness is evident in the poem, likely sensing that Dante required sympathetic
guidance in order to see the error of his ways he put forth his hand to me, and with a gentle and
encouraging smile he led me through the gate of mystery. (Alighieri 31) We see later in Canto VII,
verse 115, Virgil refer to Dante as My son , suggesting that he sees himself as some sort of Father
figure to Dante. This pseudo familial relationship does not stop Virgil from reprimanding Dante when
necessary, as he does in Canto X Now pay attention to what I tell you here: when finally you stand
before the ray of that Sweet Lady whose bright eye sees all, from her you will learn the turning of your
way. (Alighieri

Corruption In Oryx And Crake
The world is a terrifying place. This harsh reality has been hammered into the malleable minds of
children and all of societies. Due to the amount of misdeeds on Earth, ultimately the people who
possess the luxury to escape the vices of mankind will tend to be ignorant toward those problems and
instead focus on themselves. Because of the segregation, there will eventually going to be a lack of
regulation controlling those sins. In Mary Atwood s future dystopian novel, Oryx and Crake, the author

women with the promise of a better life in a richer nation. (2). This strongly parallels with Atwood s
depiction of this ethical dilemma. The way one of the recruiters, who the readers eventually come to
learn that his name is Uncle En, approaches Oryx s village in a trusting manner. In the Oryx chapter,
she recounts that He was the villagers bank, their insurance policy, their kind rich uncle, their only
charm against bad luck. And he had been needed more and more often because the weather had become
so strange and could no longer be predicted...and the crops were suffering (118). The fashion of how he
befriended Oryx s shantytown seems to be of wholesome purity and kindness. Not only was he the
villagers bank but he was also the kind rich uncle . The villagers ultimately respected him because he
provided them hope for them to proper despite their social standing. It is like he is the hero that the
village needs. Yet, he understands that the town is gradually becoming more reliant on him because of
the terrible weather that is eradicating their source of income, the crops. Uncle En, like modern
traffickers today, take this as an initiative to gather in the children into their organization. They prey
upon the poor stricken people not in a belligerent way, they strategically interact with them in a
innocuous yet manipulative way. The way these employers act around their future employees strike a

The Acts of Supremacy
The first Act of Supremacy was introduced by Henry VIII in 1534 during his rule of England. Later,
when Elizabeth I came to the throne, the second Act of Supremacy was introduced to bring back the
reforms that Mary had abolished. Both of these acts have many similarities but also some fundamental
differences that helped indicate the type of ruler each monarch would be. Before discussing the
differences it is important to first understand how the Act of Supremacy came about. Little is known
about Henry s childhood because as the second born he was never intended to become King. When his
elder brother Arthur died months after his marriage to Catherine of Aragon Henry became the heir to
the throne of England. Catherine stayed in the English court after the death of her husband and was
betrothed to Henry . It was many years before the two finally married. Catherine did give birth to a
male heir but unfortunately the child did not survive . There were many more attempts for a male heir
but in the end the only surviving child of Henry and Catherine was Mary Tudor who would later ascend
to the throne in July 1553 . Because Catherine was unable to produce a surviving male heir Henry
sought to get an annulment of their marriage. The pope would not grant this and so Henry created the
Act of Supremacy declaring himself the supreme head of the Church of England in 1534. By naming
himself as the supreme head of the Church, Henry no longer needed to answer to the Pope or the

The Spinal Cord and Spinal Cord Injury
INTRODUCTION The spinal cord is a major channel in the body where motor and sensory
information travels from the brain to the body. It has white matter that surrounds a central gray matter.
The gray matter is where most of the neuronal cells are located. Injury to the spinal cord will affect the
conduction of information across any part of the spinal cord where the damage is located (Maynard et
al., 1997). This will often result in permanent disability of a certain muscle or region of the body
(Meletis et al., 2008) and a loss of tissue where the damage is located (Peng et al., 2009). As of now,
there is no treatment for spinal cord injury expect for steroids. All steroids can do is provide protect of

It is thought that during damage to the spinal cord, high levels of ATP are released that can activate the
P2X7 receptor. In pure cultures, P2X7 receptor antagonist are thought to provide protect against the
effects of P2X7. This is due to blocking the receptors instead of trying to stop the inflammatory effects.
Because the antagonists can selectivly mediate the activation of P2X7, it is the perfect candidate for the
therapeutic treatment of spinal cord injurys (Domercq et al., 2009).
Stem Cell Research Stem cells are located in the spinal cord and they are hard to identify (Konstantinos
et al., 2008). Human embryonic stem cells have advantages that other cell types do not contain. They
have a large capacity for differentiation and for expansion. They also help in remyelination. However,
studies have shown that human embryonic stem cell derived oligodendrocyte progenitor cells can help
in neuroprotection, homeostatic maintenance, suppressing inflammation, and promoting the
regeneration of axons. (Sharp et al., 2010). Most of the neural stem cell potential is in ependymal cells
(Meletis et al., 2008). Transplanting these oligodendrocyte progenitor cells just one week after the
injury showed widespread oligodendrocyte remyelination throughout the white matter (Keirstead et al.,
2005). Most spinal cord injuries in humans

Prelude To The Battle Of Command Essay
Prelude to the Battle When the German Wehrmacht finished mopping up the remnants of the French
and British forces at Dunkirk in early 1940 sealing the fate of France for the next four years, one could
only imagine the overjoy among the heads of the German high command. Poland was the first to fall,
then northern Europe, and finally, France. The operations went so smoothly, it took Adolf Hitler and his
generals less than a year to swipe across Europe from the border with Russia to the east to the French
beaches littered with rotting machines on the English Channel in the west. Germany s redemption from
her humiliation at the end of the Great War would almost be complete but for the one enemy that was

In fact the Fighter Command ended the battle with more aircraft in its inventory than it did at the start
of the battle due to the ingenuity and determination of the British aircraft industry. However on the eve
of the battle, the Fighter Command had a critical shortage of fighter aircraft. During the earlier
campaign in France, the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) sent to help the French against an invading
German army, mounted fierce but futile resistance. The air component of the BEF lost a great number
of aircraft, including half of its Hawker Hurricane fighters, which would make vital contributions in the
victory in the Battle of Britain. Air Chief Marshall Hugh Dowding, the commander of the RAF Fighter
Command, resisted the call for sending more aircraft into a hopeless battle in France and pulled the
remaining RAF fighters back home to protect Britain. His decision later proved to be a key factor in the
narrow margin by which the RAF won the Battle of Britain. But for now, Dowding had only thirty six

World War I and the Home Front Essay
America s involvement in World War I not only impacted the war front but also the people left on the
home front. When America entered World War I in 1917 the government enforced many measures on
its citizens, many of which violated constitutional rights. The biggest measure inflicted on the
American population was censorship. The formation of the Committee on Public Information (CPI) and
the passing of the Espionage Act and Sedition Amendment stole American s freedom of speech, created
an anti German sentiment, and led to deportation during the post war Red Scare.
After America entered the war, President Woodrow Wilson recruited George Creel to head the CPI, a

Americans became afraid of and disdainful towards anything German. Affairs associated with Germans
or Germany ceased such as German bands, German courses in schools, and renaming German
associated words such as German measles to liberty measles. Many German Americans felt loyal to
America but still had ties to Germany. With intolerance towards all things German, German Americans
became cautious and discreet in their speech and actions. Ambassador James W. Gerard warned, but
now that we are in the war there are only two sides, and the time has come when every citizen must

Government censorship continued with the passing of the Espionage Act in 1917 and the Sedition

desecrating of the government, Constitution, flag, or military. The American public could not have an
opinion, unless that opinion supported the war and government. Even Wilson stated, Woe be to the man

recovery is fast but may limit a surgeon s ability to achieve some due to the inability to see parts of the

Open Rhinoplasty involves a small incision across the columella, the section between the nostrils, in
addition to incisions on the inside of your nose.
Open surgery is usually preferred in more complicated cases because it allows the surgeon to have

Strunk and White’s Elements of Style Essay
Strunk and White s Elements of Style
A typical science fiction fan can be more familiar about Star Trek and it s characters than some of their
own family members. For those that are not all that familiar with this Sci Fi show, Star Trek remains as
a very well known icon in television history. The crew of the Starship Enterprise traveled to mysterious
planets, through mysterious galaxies. I wonder if this journey couldn t be compared to the journey of
style for the writer.
In Strunk and White s Elements of Style they state, Who knows why certain notes in music are capable
of stirring the listener deeply, though the same notes slightly rearranged are impotent? These are high
mysteries...There is no satisfactory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The laws of gravity operate differently in space then those very same laws operate on earth. For
example, in space, gravity is suspended and things tend to be far more weightless, and floating about. If
you were aiming for an object to land at a certain destination, it would most likely never make it there
without some type of guidance system to manipulate and use the laws of gravity. On earth, the law of
gravity pulls objects down from great heights to great depths in a matter of minutes or seconds.
Depending on the purpose and where you are, it takes an awareness of the laws like gravity to use that
law correctly and fulfill your purpose in space or on earth.
Likewise, style is a law of writing as gravity is a law. Like the law of gravity, we have to be aware of
the laws of style. Gravity exists whether we like it or not. Style also exists whether we want it to or not.
If you ignore the laws of gravity, you will either crash to your death, or be left floating in space. With
style, a writer will either carry the reader to the intended destination, or leave the reader floating like a
man lost in space, without any understanding on what your point was.
I have established a concept of style as a law of writing. This doesn t take away the fact that it is a
complex law. The very word style eludes people like the mysteries of deep space. People chase after
different types of styles, pay for the coolest style, or even resent

Father Mapple s Quest In Moby Dick
Moby Dick Analysis Everyone has their white whale. It could be something mundane like a math test
or a performance in class. Or it could be something that you can t control the outcome of, no matter
how hard you try. The fact of the matter is, a white whale is a goal that is extremely difficult to achieve
or a roadblock along the way. Ahab, captain of the whaling ship The Pequod, faces white whales
throughout Herman Melville s novel Moby Dick. His quest, as perceived by the reader, seems to be to
just kill the creature that took his leg from him. Without any digging deep into the book, this seems
incredibly true, it s what the book follows for the most part. However, the figurative quest he goes on is
interpreted upon further investigation. This quest is to both find himself and the truth about the world
that he inhabits. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the series Scrubs, one of the first episodes is titled My White Whale. This white whale comes in the
form of a difficult thing to achieve, such as the approval of a mentor. Despite this taking place in the
world of a sitcom, it still serves as a symbolic phrase. In literary terms, this white whale that is
discussed can serve to represent a few things, such as the truth and God himself. Father Mapple s
sermon in the beginning of the book warns the sailors not to go out to sea, as Jonah did and was
punished for venturing out of the lines of God s plan. Ahab s venturing out to find this whale, and along
the way he is told that he has angered God and that he will be punished. He then dies at the mercy of
Moby Dick due to the line being wrapped around him, dragging him deep into the ocean. The idea of
Moby Dick s representation of God comes from his color. White is a color most commonly associated
with purity and divinity. So, due to the combination of the omens leading up to Ahab s death and the
whiteness of the whale, Moby Dick has a double meaning. Not only is Ahab searching for some truth,
he is also

Mediums like photomontage, photograms(rayographs), and readymade art pieces were becoming prevalent during this movement. Hannah Höch and Raoul Hausmann were both prominent artists of the movement that individually had success with their photomontage artworks. Hannah Hoch s Cut with the Kitchen Knife Dada through the Last Weimar beer Belly Cultural Epoch of Germany and Raoul Hausmann s ABCD are perfect examples of the purpose of the Dada Movement. Höch s piece is a lot more cluttered with images and tries to encompass the whole idea of Dada. her piece is much more political than Hausmann s piece and has feministic theme through out the entirety of her artwork s composition. In the center of her collage she has the head of Käthe Kollwitz, radical antiwar artist, above the dancing ballerina.(2a) Also in the bottom right corner in Dada world Höch has cut out her head and put in top of a map of Europe where several countries are colored in black, representing the countries where women still couldn t vote. Hausmann s ABCD has a much more personal theme that details many of his relationships with fellow artists in Dada as well as his own artworks. • 3. Ethnic And Racial Diversity After reading the ethnic and racial differences chapter, what stood out for me was how much ethnicity and culture could negatively affect a student s academic life. It is important to treat those of different ethnicities, races and cultures the same as you would treat anyone else, including yourself. Ethnicity is defined as a cultural heritage or characteristics shared by a group, such as history, homeland, language, traditions or religion (Woolfolk Margetts, Educational Psychology, 2016). There are many types of ethnicities; Australia alone has 35 different types of ethnic groups. Everyone has family heritage extending from somewhere else in the world, the most common include Italian, Greek, German and Irish, and this forms part of your ethnic heritage. My family heritage extends from Holland and Germany, where my mothers side of my family were all born in Holland and migrated just before my mother was born, my fathers family migrated from Germany during the 1800 s. Race is defined as a socially constructed category of people who share biologically transmitted traits (Woolfolk Margetts, Educational Psychology, 2016). These traits include common features such as skin colour and hair texture. As I was born in Australia and my heritage descends from Europe, I am classified as White. Other race categories include African American or Black, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. Biologically there are no pure races ... The works of the late 1982 Columbian literary Nobel Laureate Gabriel Garica Marquez reflect not only the sentiments of postcolonial Columbians, but also the surreal realities lived by Latin Americans in the New World. This surreal reality is what Marquez has become synonymous with magic realism. The literary genre, magic realism, can be found in Marquez s books and short stories such as 100 Years of Solitude and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings . Literary critics and audience alike have marveled at how Marquez masterfully connected the ethereal and the mundane with such precision in diction and syntax that the narratives seem more than commonplace but actually feasible and tangible. In Marquez s Nobel Prize Lecture, he champions the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Foremost, in the early 1980s, Latin America was still in need of assistance and they were fighting for survival economically amid a massive economic depression. After the occupation of power by militant dictators in the mid 20th century, most Spanish speaking countries, particularly Cuba like Columbia, experienced economic hardship both from internal and external powers. Additionally, the passage contends the concept that Latin America is in a state of solitude, in which leads to a form of solidarity amongst the Latin American community. Furthermore, he also argues that whites figuratively use the yard stick to measure the capabilities of Latin America. The points of this lecture capitalize on his beliefs and concepts while contending that his work exemplify the experiences of the Latin American. Marquez s lecture promulgates Marquez s notion that with solitude came their undefined, mythical culture. In fact, Marquez s experiences as a child with his grandparents solidify that notion. Marquez s grandmother raised him and in his childhood she told him fantastical stories; likewise, Marquez s grandfather raised him, too, and told him horrific stories of his experience fighting in the Thousand Days War. Both accounts inspired Marquez s magic realism and the significance of the stories asserts itself in the Nobel Laureate s discussion of Latin culture and politics. As Marquez discusses Latin culture in his lecture he affirms his notion of solitude birthing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since these monkeys are endangered, scientist were studying ways to keep them healthy before they all die off. It was found that by grooming each other, they are getting off parasites on the skin but also ones from inside. These parasites can be found on dead skin that the other monkeys end up pulling off during grooming which then transmits to the groomer. Since the monkeys don t stay around the same group all the time, this parasite gets transmitted more easily and quickly. Now scientist can begin to work on trying to save these monkeys and other endangered primates with this new information. The field of anthropology being described ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Short And Medium Term Needs For Emergency Shelter Intro Contemporary designers and architects are addressing the short and medium term needs of people who require emergency and refugee shelters, by evaluating the requirements of people once they have been displaced from their home due to a natural disaster, or any other adversity that they may face. This article will compare and contrast different types of emergency shelters, both short and long term, and appraise the key considerations that contemporary designers and architects must make while creating these refuges. Addressing short and medium term needs for emergency shelter A short term emergency shelter is usually something that people call transitional accommodation. The short term needs for an emergency shelter consist of: A place to sleep, a roof over their head, showers, cleans drinking water and food. Designer s need to come up with a way that they can gain access to clean water and safe food in the midst of a natural disaster, and how they will get it to them as quickly as possible, whilst making sure there is enough room in the housing estate to look after everyone whose been evicted from their home, or their home has been damaged and ruined in one way or another. Medium and long term needs in emergency shelters change a little bit, with them still needing all the basics, but also then having things readily available like doctors, medication, physiatrists, and educational tools like a local school, or books for the children to read in there spare time. This statement by great Novelist Dan Brown characterizes my belief. Ever since I was a child I was always fascinated by Science and my interests drove me towards becoming an Engineer. As I grew up I always made it a point that I learn something new from wherever possible. My father, right from the start of his career, has been working in Electrical Engineering and maintenance based companies. • 18. Non Fiction Setting There are several aspects that, while not necessarily essential, are very important in creating a story. Note that this only applicable to works of fiction, non fiction is of course based on facts. For a story to be worth reading there should be a main character or characters, a conflict, feeling, a plot, and a setting. Even if this work is a parody of another, the new work should contain the same or similar basic aspects as the original. The first two elements of writing that can and should be gone through before even writing are the characters and the setting. Most of the time these two will be similar, a cowboy near the Colorado River, the galactic rangers on the Armēnè asteroid belt, or the seven knights of Hrathgàr at the gates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The actions and dialogue of the characters should have a purpose that the reader can look deeper into. The description of people, places, and things should also be a well practiced skill. The main goal should be to leave a lasting impression on the reader. As an example The brave hero stood strong against his terror including foe, the man he once saw as a brother, the mighty dark mage Zerross. Their battle was equally matched, though the mage was pushed farther and farther back with each swing of the hero s mighty sword the mage was pushed farther back. The had also become injured, several broken ribs, a large burn across his war torn chest, and millions of cuts and bruises adorned his body. Zerross began to gather power from around him, and soon started to glow with an ethereal light. However, the hero stood his ground and readied his blade. With the flick of the wrist the dark mage sent out a beam of pure energy with the power to split the earth in two at the hero. In return, the hero simply stood with his sword at his side, and fell to his knees without anymore energy to fight. The beam hit its mark, directly through the hero s heart. The dark mage stood triumphant as the hero fell and the heavens wept. For clarification, these elements are only guidelines. The final product is the expression of the writer, and rightfully so. These aspects are instead meant to help draw in the reader, to make them see the story in their mind as if they were watching a movie. Also, if there is enough of an emotional tie with a character, then that character will be left in the minds of the readers for months or even years. The Future Of Oppression In Black Mirror s San Junipero The Future of Oppression Black Mirror s San Junipero is an episode that, on the surface, seems to be a simple love story between two women, Yorkie and Kelly. They meet in the virtual town of San Junipero, a town that feels very real, but is essentially a simulation where they can be uploaded when they pass over , their consciousnesses permanently stored in the cloud, alive in the virtual town. Both are still living but are close to death and are in San Junipero as tourists , allowed to test drive life in the virtual town for a limited time. They fall in love and their whirlwind romance overcomes Kelly s moral reservations about being uploaded and Yorkie s reservations of being out with her sexuality. It also provides Yorkie a chance to live the life that she was denied because of the quadriplegia she suffered from an accident following her parents poor reaction to her coming out, that paralyzed her before she truly got to experience life. Hidden underneath the optimistic love story, however, are levels that suggest that regardless of its invisibility in this story, the patriarchy is still very much in control, symbolically oppressing them without even needing to be present. The episode was written by Charlie Brooker, a white man, a paragon of privilege. Despite his privilege, Brooker s work always comments on and critiques society s standards and future. By delaying the reveal of crucial plot points, such as the fact that San Junipero is not a physical town, rather an advanced virtual reality, merely hinting at it with a slow build, Brooker is able to hold the audience captive. • 32. A Short Note On The Cell Phone Industry Although Microsoft was slow to join the cell phone war, and was unsuccessful in partaking in the market even with theier $7.2MM purchased of Nokia in 2013, our team believes the cell phone market is now ready for a Microsoft Surface cell phone. After all, Microsoft holds a solid reputation in operating and security software shouldn t they be able to produce a desirable phone? Our team believes it can. The cell phone industry is dynamic and thriving market that offers a place to innovation. Despite the losses already assumed by Microsoft which includes, assumed infringement liabilities by the purchase of the Nokia cell phone line, and the added expenses in the amount of $780 million under the Phone Hardware Restructuring Plan (SEC, 10Q dated 09/2016), our team feels Microsoft is in a good position to release a desirable and successful phone line. Furthermore, our team also believes that Microsoft invested in the market to leave the table at this point. As Leo Sun from TMSunLion said: it was reported that Microsoft s phone hardware revenue plunged 46% annually in constant currency terms due to the downsizing of the business and market share losses. Meanwhile, Surface device sales rose 61%, thanks to strong demand for the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. • 33. Introduction Of Internet Based Procurement Essay The term e procurement gained popularity around the year 2000. Emergence of the two competitors Ariba and Commerce One, companies that specialized in the support of electronic procurement for MRO products, changed the way indirect MRO spend used to be looked upon. Introduction of internet based procurement applications prompted a change from a centrally organized procurement (central buying) department to desktop procurement environment, where the employee in need of a product would initiate the purchase transaction electronically. With these two trends, decentralized purchasing and multi vendor catalogues , the conduit toward electronic support of the MRO buying process was paved. Thus, over the period, spend analysts have started observing carefully, to increase spend under management and implement better control over tail spend in order to reduce the amount of fulfilling formalities and time consumed in procuring these products. Understanding E Procurement in the MRO space With the advent of Internet technology in the area of MRO, the procurement of indirect material such as office supplies and services also became feasible for electronic support. Indirect procurement is based on ad hoc activities which are difficult to put into an electronically supported workflow. Since the products needed in this area are less frequently bought and usually of low value, companies shy away from maintaining material master data for indirect products. • 34. Virgil s Mentor Role The concept of a mentor as a means to provide much needed perspective and character development to both protagonists and tertiary characters in a narrative is a common one in literature both old and new. The medieval period is no exception, with mentors, and the idea of mentoring playing a major role in all three of our selections from the medieval period namely: The Divine Comedy, The conference of the birds, and Revelations of Divine Love. Mentors in literature act as the voice of reason and experience, guiding their charges towards a goal or idea by virtue of their wisdom. They are also readily used as a source of exposition for the reader, and information for the main character. These qualities often make the mentor an unsung hero in their respective tales, as without their guidance, the protagonist(s) would have been unable to achieve their goals. However, though the function of a mentor is relatively constant, the methods employed and the direction of their guidance varies widely. His kindness is evident in the poem, likely sensing that Dante required sympathetic guidance in order to see the error of his ways he put forth his hand to me, and with a gentle and encouraging smile he led me through the gate of mystery. (Alighieri 31) We see later in Canto VII, verse 115, Virgil refer to Dante as My son , suggesting that he sees himself as some sort of Father figure to Dante. Because of the segregation, there will eventually going to be a lack of regulation controlling those sins. • 36. The Acts of Supremacy The first Act of Supremacy was introduced by Henry VIII in 1534 during his rule of England. Later, when Elizabeth I came to the throne, the second Act of Supremacy was introduced to bring back the reforms that Mary had abolished. Both of these acts have many similarities but also some fundamental differences that helped indicate the type of ruler each monarch would be. Before discussing the differences it is important to first understand how the Act of Supremacy came about. Little is known about Henry s childhood because as the second born he was never intended to become King. When his elder brother Arthur died months after his marriage to Catherine of Aragon Henry became the heir to the throne of England. Catherine stayed in the English court after the death of her husband and was betrothed to Henry . It was many years before the two finally married. Catherine did give birth to a male heir but unfortunately the child did not survive . There were many more attempts for a male heir but in the end the only surviving child of Henry and Catherine was Mary Tudor who would later ascend to the throne in July 1553 . Because Catherine was unable to produce a surviving male heir Henry sought to get an annulment of their marriage. The pope would not grant this and so Henry created the Act of Supremacy declaring himself the supreme head of the Church of England in 1534. • 38. The Spinal Cord and Spinal Cord Injury INTRODUCTION The spinal cord is a major channel in the body where motor and sensory information travels from the brain to the body. It has white matter that surrounds a central gray matter. The gray matter is where most of the neuronal cells are located. This will often result in permanent disability of a certain muscle or region of the body (Meletis et al., 2008) and a loss of tissue where the damage is located (Peng et al., 2009). Because the antagonists can selectivly mediate the activation of P2X7, it is the perfect candidate for the therapeutic treatment of spinal cord injurys (Domercq et al., 2009). Stem Cell Research Stem cells are located in the spinal cord and they are hard to identify (Konstantinos et al., 2008). Human embryonic stem cells have advantages that other cell types do not contain. They have a large capacity for differentiation and for expansion. They also help in remyelination. However, studies have shown that human embryonic stem cell derived oligodendrocyte progenitor cells can help in neuroprotection, homeostatic maintenance, suppressing inflammation, and promoting the regeneration of axons. (Sharp et al., 2010). Most of the neural stem cell potential is in ependymal cells (Meletis et al., 2008). Transplanting these oligodendrocyte progenitor cells just one week after the injury showed widespread oligodendrocyte remyelination throughout the white matter (Keirstead et al., 2005). Poland was the first to fall, then northern Europe, and finally, France. The operations went so smoothly, it took Adolf Hitler and his generals less than a year to swipe across Europe from the border with Russia to the east to the French beaches littered with rotting machines on the English Channel in the west. However on the eve of the battle, the Fighter Command had a critical shortage of fighter aircraft. During the earlier campaign in France, the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) sent to help the French against an invading German army, mounted fierce but futile resistance. The air component of the BEF lost a great number of aircraft, including half of its Hawker Hurricane fighters, which would make vital contributions in the victory in the Battle of Britain. Air Chief Marshall Hugh Dowding, the commander of the RAF Fighter Command, resisted the call for sending more aircraft into a hopeless battle in France and pulled the remaining RAF fighters back home to protect Britain. The formation of the Committee on Public Information (CPI) and the passing of the Espionage Act and Sedition Amendment stole American s freedom of speech, created an anti German sentiment, and led to deportation during the post war Red Scare. On earth, the law of gravity pulls objects down from great heights to great depths in a matter of minutes or seconds.
