America s Education And Political Leaders Essay
By January, 2014, even former U.S. Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan had noticed the
dysfunction (Elliott, 2014) among Indiana s education and political leaders. A 2015 Senate Bill
was even authored that would have ended Indiana s practice of electing the state education chief
so one could be appointed by the governor (SB 24). A look at the headlines in the Indianapolis
Star over the past couple of years sums up nicely the relationship among Indian s educational and
political leaders:
November 5, 2014: 10 epic clashes between Glenda Ritz, Indiana State Board of Education
December 3, 2014: Glenda Ritz loses another State Board of Education battle
January 14, 2015: Senate education bills would strip power from Glenda Ritz
February 18, 2015: Senate OKs change in selection of Education Board chair; Glenda Ritz could be
left out
April 30, 2015: Glenda Ritz considers running for governor after legislative attacks
May 7, 2015: Pence signs bill stripping Ritz of education authority
August 30, 2015: GOP struggling to find challenger for Glenda Ritz
(Nice long lull in the headlines...)
March 13, 2016: With election looming, Indiana lawmakers played it safe in 2016 session After
two years of public bickering over such topics as rules of order, school A F grades, the Center for
Education and Career Innovation, NCLB waivers, and state takeovers of failing schools, Governor
Pence signed SB 1 in 2015 that will strip leadership of the State Board of Education from the

Law Of The Seas Memo
Law of the Seas Memo
Marine Langreney
History
The freedom of the seas doctrine was created in the 17th century as a means to control rights over
ocean space. The doctrine assigned national rights to areas controlled by limited belts, with the
remaining being assigned as a public space, free to all nations. By the mid 20th century, technology
became more advanced and the ocean s resources became vulnerable to the innovations. Rising
conflicts occurred over ocean reserves, from decreasing fish stocks to pollution left by long
distance boats and oil tankers. Tension was rising from Navies of powerful nations, and were
now competing for control over these resources. There was a clear demand for power and
presence over marine resources. Oceans were becoming a new area of conflict, and the freedom of
the seas doctrine was too outdated to keep up with these new troubles.
It wasn t until 1945, when President Harry Truman extended sovereignty over the entire
continental shelf extended from the United States, that other countries took note and followed.
This was the first instance where the freedom of seas was being challenged, and his success lead
to many countries claiming similar territories. Argentina was the first country to follow, and
claimed its own continental shelf along with the one that lay above. Chile, Peru and Ecuador
followed, but had claimed a zone of 200 miles. This came out of fear for their decreasing fish
stocks, as they wanted to limit the number of

Hepatitis B is an infection caused by hepatitis B virus. It affects the liver and can lead to acute or
chronic hepatitis B, carrier, or liver cancer. It is transmitted through body fluids such as blood and
semen. Transmission is usually by sexual contact, sharing needles, injecting drugs, cutting injuries.
About 2 billion around the world have been infected with hepatitis B virus and 250 million have
chronic infection. [1] 90% of infected adult will recover within one year of infection and 5% of
adults will develop chronic infection. 30 50% of chronically infected persons will develop
complications such as liver cirrhosis or liver cancer.
Children under 6 years of age have higher risk of developing chronic hepatitis B when the get

Othello, a Story of Rejection, Prejudice, Envy, and Revenge
Othello, a Story of Rejection, Prejudice, Envy, and Revenge
The play Othello moves around the story of a Moor who has just run away with the beautiful
Desdemona and leaves Venice to command the Venetian armies against the Turks on the island of
Cyprus. Othello is accompanied by his new wife and his lieutenant, Cassio. When they arrive, they
find that the weather has destroyed the Turkish fleet. Iago, the evil antagonist, repeatedly tries to
destroy Othello because he is upset Othello gave the position he wanted to achieve to another
soldier. Iago finally succeeds when he is able to leave Desdemona s handkerchief on Cassio s room
convincing Othello that his wife has been unfaithful and has cheated on him. Othello kills

He does not care what happens to anyone else as long as he is happy. Jealousy and revenge
trying to hurt Othello lead Iago to have Roderigo killed, Cassio severely injured, his own wife
Emilia and Desdemona dead, and Othello committing suicide. Finally, Iago ends up being tortured
and killed for his great conspiracy. After reading this story, can we ask ourselves, is it really worth
it? Iago s motivation is his love of evil. He has no conscience. He is not able to feel love. Iago
treats others as fools and has no sign of repentance. Ironically, Shakespeare portrays him as honest
Iago. Shakespeare has built the character of Iago from an idea already existing in the theatrical
culture of his
time. The devil in religious morality plays. [1] Evil, hatred, and revenge can only lead you to
one direction, self destruction and death. Te saddest part of this story is you do not die alone. You
can destroy other people s lives in the process even those of innocent people like Desdemona or
Emilia who are secondary characters in the story.
During Shakespearian time, women were rarely seen as equal. They were often seen as inferior
people who needed to be taken care by men. Othello shows how women are owned by men. They
can also be stolen . Men can play with them. Women are seen as prizes men can get. Desdemona,
Othello s wife, can be defined as a human being with no free will. She cannot make her free
choices. She cannot love. She can only be owned. Even her father

James Weldon Johnson My City Essay
The sonnet poem, My City, by James Weldon Johnson is about how a man is so in love with his
city, Manhattan that he doesn t want to die and never be able to see it again. This poem shows the
emotion connection he shares with his city. The mood, tone, theme, imagery, repetition, and
personification in the poem will help you to understand it better. If it weren t for these details, you
wouldn t quite understand this piece as well, since there would be many ways to interpret it. The
speaker gives a personal statement in this piece of poetry. He asks what his greatest loss would be
once he dies, and he answers it in detail. You will see the poet s love for Manhattan, and see how
beautiful his emotional connection is with it.

The poet talks about all the things that he won t miss after death, which is nature. He uses
imagery to express it. Johnson (1923) writes, Will it be that no more I shall see the trees/ Or
smell the flowers or hear the singing birds/ Or watch the flashing streams or patient herds? (p.
677). He gets you to imagine nature and its beauty, and then writes, No, I am sure it will be none
of these. (Johnson, 1923, p. 677). Now that you know it s not nature that he will miss the most, he
continues to talk about his city, Manhattan, and that it would be the thing he would miss the most.
The poet then uses personification and repetition to explain what he loves about his city. Johnson
(1923) writes, But ah! Manhattan s sights and sounds, her smells,/ Her crowds, her throbbing
force, the thrill that comes/ From being of her a part, her subtle spells,/ Her shining towers, her
avenues, her slums (p. 677). The personification here clearly shows the emotional connection he
shares with his city. The fact that he refers to his city as a her just shows how much he loves
Manhattan. Also, as you can see, there is a repetition of the word her, which creates excitement in
the tone of the poem. It changes the mood entirely and the fact that the poet constantly refers to his
city as a her, and not an it just shows how much love he has for Manhattan. The

Capacity Issues
Capacity issues are something hospitals are facing more and more every day. Patients who have
been admitted wait sometimes for hours up to days for a bed to open up on an inpatient unit.
This delay takes up bed space and resources in the Emergency Department leading to increased
delays for others to be seen. Waiting to be seen is a huge dissatisfier to our clients and can pose a
safety risk when patients are not seen quickly. Situations like the one described above are all too
common. Getting the patient in the right bed is crucial to quality and safe patient care. But what
happens when the right bed is not available ? Frequently physicians are asked to make assessments
and reassessments as to what the patient needs and to make decisions

Tesco s Marketing Pl Tesco
Executive Summary
As the UK market becomes more saturated over the years, Tesco will be in need of a new
marketing plan that will allow them to enter other markets.
Tesco attempted to penetrate the US market with its own shops and failed leading to a loss of $1.3
billion. Penetrating other markets may be better only if joint ventures are achieved, a prime
example of that is the joint venture with Tata (IB times, 2014a).
Even though Tescoare using more money than any other retailer with their marketing budget, Tesco
s marketing is deemed unsuccessful. Tesco have failed marketing their brand well, Tesco s
clubcard does not allow them to spend their marketing budget properly. Removal after using the
data for Ansoff s matrix may be the best option.

Howard Zinn Injustice
Debate has existed in the world for hundreds of years, developing at the beginning of humanity but
more publicly in the early eighteenth century. Humans love to argue their point of view with others
in order to determine the correct viewpoint on various matters. Throughout the world, many
approach a debatewith opinions formulated from different outlooks on life. Perceptions of a
situation establish themselves based on where and how a person was raised. When elaborating on
historical events, more often than not, two passionate sides emerge, those who focus on injustices
and freedom and those who look at events focused on traditional values. After examining two takes
on colonial America it is obvious that Howard Zinn focuses on injustice

Brown Had A Lot Of Co-Plotters To Help Him With The...
1.The first of the three reasons that John Brown became a violent protester to slavery are as
follows. In his mind, John believed that he was fulfilling their struggle for freedom in terms of
the revolutionary soldier and puritan that he had descended from (3). In other words, the fight
was already in him, he was trying to do good because he already saw what the puritans had went
through to achieve their freedom. It was in his blood so to speak. The second of the three reasons
is that John believed that God had called him to make do this for the slaves. John Brownwas a very
religious man as it talks about him going to church and evening going as far as making his
children write down their sins they committed in the day. (17) The third and final reason for John
browns turn to violence is the fact that he did not believe that a non violent tactic would work
against the pro slavery people. The massacre of Pottawatomie was a true example of what John
Brown believed was the correct way to handle this problem of slavery.
2.John brown had a lot of co plotters to help him with the Harpers Ferry raid. Out of all of the co

In all honesty I do not believe that John Brown believed his raid would fail. John Brown so
much of his life into the cause of the abolishment of slavery and freedom of the slaves. The
amount of planning Brown did for just this raid was insane when you think about it he devoted
most if not all of his time to this. He went as far as making sure they weren t looking suspicious
to the people in Maryland while carting around weapon wagons of freight. (102) Brown also
even turned to his family for help in the raid. I do not know if it is out of desperation or if it is
out of devotion to his cause of abolishment of slavery. (102 103) So with that being said, I do not
believe that any though in John Brown s head had him failing this raid and triggering the slave

The Power Of The War
According to Article One, Section Eight, Congress has the power To declare war, grant letters of
marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water; This means that
Congress must be consulted before going to war and has the power to not only declare war, but
also the power to raise an army and navy, to fund wareffort; however, the President, in Article II, is
named commander in chief of the armed forces, but this does not give him the power to commit
armed forces to war.
Although the Constitution grants Congress the power to declare war, there has been much debate
about who should actually have the power to wage war. Often times, Congress is argued to be the
better fit because the decision made will be well thought out, democratic, and promote international
harmony. The other side of the argument states the the president should be the one to wage war.
Even Alexander Hamilton stated that Presidents should conduct war, because they could act with
decision, activity, secrecy and dispatch. Presidents also can make a quick decision without waiting
on Congress and their disagreements due to the fact that foreign affairs can often be unpredictable.
The president must act as a strong leader in a national crisis to instill trust within the public.
Though either side may sound appealing, they both have drawbacks. Congress can garner too
many opinions, certain seat holders don t want to make a decision that could possibly jeopardize re

The Name Of The Rose
The book, The Name of The Rose, transpires in a medieval abbey located between Pomposa and
Conques, around 1327, in which strange events befall on the monks which appear to mysteriously
correlate to the Book of Revelation (Loc 111). The author of the book, Umberto Eco, employs
medieval theology to portray philosophical ideas, such as the postmodern concept which theorizes
that all text relates to one another. Through the application of architectural imagery, the illustrative
characteristics of animals, the application of numerology, latin quotation and erroneous
interpretation of scripture, Eco composed a masterpiece that loosely parallels events and language
located within the Book of Revelation. Utilizing the circumstances of the period, the author hints at
the harmful nature of futuristic exegesis of biblical narrative, especially with a focus on the
apocalyptic text of the Book of Revelation. Apocalyptic literature, often ornamented with intricate
visions, symbolism and numerology, is a classification of cataclysmic Jewish writings which
incorporate impressions of heaven along with revelations. Through the depiction of the
conflagration of the abbey, elegant symbolism and extravagant visions within, The Name of the
Rose exhibits idiosyncrasies of the apocalyptic genre. The Book of Revelation, which contains a
profuse amount of homogenous attributes to The Name of the Rose, is also suitable to the
apocalyptic labelling. Due to the vastness of allusions between the two

Similarities Between The French Revolution And The...
The Glorious Revolution took place in 1688 and the French Revolution in 1789. Some historians
believe these revolutions to be equivalent, but there are many aspects that make them different. The
main similarity was the effort made to limit the power of the monarchy. The Glorious Revolution
and French Revolution are more different then they are similar because of the events leading up to
the revolutions and the methods used to achieve the goal of limiting monarchial rule.
When comparing the Glorious Revolution and the French Revolution, it is important to consider the
events that led up to them. In England, King James was Catholic and appointed Catholics to
important positions and granted religious tolerance. His actions would have not been approved by
Parliament because before his accession to the throne, the Parliament had tried and failed to pass a
law that prevented a Catholic king from taking the throne. The creation of this law was due to the
actions of his brother, King Charles. The Parliament would not provide money for King Charles to
run the kingdom, thus he turned to France for help. In exchange for monetary funds, he agreed to
offer support to France against the Dutch and slowly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

achieve the Parliaments goal without killing the royal family. In 1688 William invaded England

were then named joint rulers of Parliament. As a result the Bill of Rights was created, which
forbade royal interference in the making or enforcement of laws. The goal of the Parliament was to
limit the power of the monarchy, which they achieved. This is the main characteristic that the
French revolution and the Glorious Revolution had in common; however, the methods used to

Martin Luther Purgatory Beliefs
Martin Luther, like most traditional Christians, believed that this life was simply a pilgrimage, a
journey toward our destination. That destination was an eternity spent either in heaven or in hell.
There was nothing one could do to earn a spot in heaven God freely forgave the sins of some, and
they could enter heaven. Luther disagreed strongly with the Roman Catholic teaching that there is
also a place called purgatory, because purgatory is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible. The
belief in purgatory developed over the course of the middle Ages, driven by the logic of the
Catholic system of sanctification. Those who were baptized and thus cleansed of the stain of
original sinstill had to pay the debt for the offense of sin to a perfect God. In addition, any additional
sins must be paid for. You earned merits toward the debt by performing works, especially the
sacraments. Lutheranism believe that people are saved by God s mercy and forgiveness and not
by righteousness for our past or even by a personal action of deciding to following Jesus. Believing
this Lutherans coined the phrase By Faith Alone

sin. The gospel proclaims the forgiveness of sins and the gift ... Show more content on

The Laramie Project, By Moses Kaufman Essay
Introduction
Moses Kaufman is the producer of the successful play The Laramie Project after a horrific
incident that occurred in Laramie. Members of the artistic group of Kaufman s, traveled to
Laramie to find out more about the horrific incidence. The main aim of the whole project was to
find the emotions, reactions, and reflections that the people of Laramie manifested concerning the
beating and subsequent death of a twenty three year old college student (Gale, 2016). A lot of
questions were raised concerning the death as people had different point of views. Some thought it
was a hate crime, others thought it was just a brutal assault or a form of robbery. Four hundred
interviews were conducted so as to come up with the reasons behind the brutal murder straight from
the town folks. The main issue was how homosexuality was defined in the crime. The Laramie
Project, questioned the rights of the LGBT+ group. For example, why were Lesbians, Gays,
Bisexuals, and Transgenders discriminated by the community and the society as a whole even
though their rights were constitutional?
Context
From the play, Matthew Shepard a college student at the University of Wyoming was tied up in a
cattle fence. The student was majoring in political science and was believed to be gay, and he
did not like hiding the fact that he is one. Matthew was free and open. In one cold night, in
October, Matthew was brutally beaten up in the head, robbed and later tied up on a fence and was

Jacey Observation
I recently had the opportunity to observe a 33 month old boy named Jacey in our church nursery.
On this particular Sunday we had several families unable to attend worship service due to a
nasty virus that has been going through our community, so Jacey was the only child in the
nursery during my observation. I quickly learned that this little guy is full of energy and
excitement, and also a little bit of attitude, with sticky fingers and rosy cheeks! It was clear to
see that he is an adventure seeker as he explored his surroundings with eyes that appeared to be
thoughtful as his curious little mind absorbed every single inflection of the words spoken by
those who interacted with him and all of this is what I observed within just the first five minutes
of my time spent with Jacey. Over the course of the hour there would be squeals of joy,
rambunctious play, silly faces made, as well as times of crossed arms and feet stomping in
frustration. Life as a two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

different designs with the blocks. This type of play, with building patterns and intention, is what
our text book would call constructive play (Martorell, et al., 2014). As Jacey played, his
excitement grew over what he was creating and every now and then he would speak to his
caregiver and show her what he was doing. His sentences followed the rules for syntax speech as
he put together sentences that made sense (Martorell, et al., 2014). Not to be too committed with

Great Depression Homes
When the Great Depression Hit Home for All Homes The 1930s are remembered as hard times
for many American families. With the crash of the stock market many families from all over
suffered to survive on very little. Farmers found it hard to grow crops and earn money from
them. City families struggled to live on nothing and were without jobs. Hobos were homeless
people who traveled the railroads illegally to find jobs. Farm families, city families, and hobos each
had to find ways to live and survive during The Great Depression. During The Great Depression,
farmers worked hard to produce crops and livestock. Prices began to drop quickly and the
farmers struggled to produce even more to pay their debts, taxes, and provide for their families.
(Morain 1) Farmers grew their crops and kept a garden to provide food. In many families, the
children would stop attending to school to help out on the farm. ( Life During the Great Depression

Song of Roland Essay
Roland is not depicted as a hero in every way. In what particular way does his heroism cause him
to fail himself and others, and what does that tell us about the culture out of which the poem
emerges? The Song of Roland is a heroic epic that depicts the tragic defeat of Roland, the
courageous leader of Charlemagne s army. Within the epic Rolandis not depicted as a heroin every
way. I believe that Roland s pride eventually becomes the root cause of his failure to himself and
to others. It is this pride that Roland carries that sheds light upon the culture out of which the poem
emerges. In this culture during the late 700 s, pride in one s religion is expected and upheld to
great extents such as sacrifice. The Song of Rolandwas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that Roland knew that his stepfather would not go to King Marsilion and used that to his
advantage to prove himself to Charlemagne. Proving his pride for himself.
Additional proof of Roland s pride that causes him to fail himself and the other Crusaders is his
hard headedness to call for help when being attacked by Saracens. In the Song of Roland, Roland
s biggest enemy is his stepfather Ganelon. Out of spite, Ganelon organizes forces led by the
Saracens to detour Roland and separate him from the Christian forces. Being the proud person he
is, Roland refuses to sound the battle horn to call for help. His pride leads to a massacre of
Charlemagne s army.
Throughout The Song of Roland pride seems to be a major theme. Roland is not the only one with
extreme pride for what he believes in. Without pride for religion, I believe, that there would not be
a crusade, let alone the story of Roland.
With this poem taking place in the latter part of the 700 s, religion and pride in one s religion was

Xerox Corporation is the world s largest supplier of toner based photocopier machines and

Xerox s auditors KPMG complied with management s request related to accounting practices in

What Is The Relationship Of Obedience To His Law
Introduction
Throughout our lives obedience to Gods will in all areas of our life can be a struggle. The
people of ancient Israel stood as testament to this. However Gods promise to the Israelites is
seen in this passage promising his blessings if they stood true to his law. This essay will explore
the relationship between obedience to the law and Gods blessing using Jacqueline Grey s Them,
Us Me principle of looking at the bible.
Them
The book of Deuteronomy was written while Israel was in a time of wandering the wilderness
due to disobedience. The 40 years of wandering were almost up and God was re affirming the
covenant and giving them the law that covered all areas of their lives. Right near the end of this
massive book of covenant law God promises in Deuteronomy 28 to bless the Israelites if they
obeyed whole heartedly.
For ancient Israel, blessing flowed from obedience to God. The blessings are listed in the
following verses after the excerpt and they cover all parts of their life. However the fickleness of
human strength showed them getting complacent and laidback living in the blessing and
disobeying the law. Through this they would spiral down into disobedience, worshipping other
gods to try and make up for the lack of Gods blessing but only being cursed more. This would result
in them eventually crying out to God and being obedient again. This was a cycle that plagued Israel
however Deuteronomy beautifully closes the Pentateuch ...with its constant reminders

How Does The Influence Of Hip Hop And Rap Music
Music has come a long way and everybody dances, listens, and sings to what we call music. In the
past few years mainstream music has been overtaken by hip hop and rap music. Although they
have been criticized a lot for its sexual lyrics and violent themes. People feel that that hip hop
music has a focus on sexually based themes and others feel that rap promotes violence against
police officers and innocent citizens. Artists are still making music that promotes neither of these
ideas, but more neutral and family and friendly themes. The last few years music has shown great
styles, themes, and personal taste.
Hip hop is accopinied by usher, Justin Timberlake, and similar artists. Popularity has been boosted

User Authentication in Computer Security
1 INTRODUCTION
User authentication is a most important component in most computer security. It provides user with
access control and user accountability. As we know there are many types of user authentication
systems in the market but alphanumerical username/passwords are the most common type of user
authentication. They are many and easy to implement and use. Due to the limitation of human
memory, most users tend to choose short or simple passwords which are easy to remember.
Surveys show that frequent passwords are personal names of family members, birth date, or
dictionary words. In most cases, these passwords are easy to guess and vulnerable to dictionary
attack. Today users have many passwords for personal computers, social networks, E mail, and
more. They may decide to use one password for all systems to decrease the memory burden, which
reduce security. Graphical passwords is harder to guess or broken by brute force. If the number
of possible pictures is sufficiently large, the possible password space of a graphical pass word
scheme may exceed that of text based schemes and thus most probably offer improved security
against dictionary attacks. The use of graphical password methods is gaining awareness because
of these advantages. Graphical passwords were originally described by Blonder. In his description,
an image would appear on the screen, and the user would click on a few chosen regions of it. If the
correct regions were clicked in, the user would be

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Chipotle
Chipotle ventured into a new territory when it was created, as it had an innovative vision for fast
casual restaurants. By using fresh and quality ingredients, Chipotle raised the bar in their segment.
The service line where customers could see their order being prepared enhanced the experience of
Chipotle. Consumers who were used to eating at fast casual restaurants where the food was frozen
and made out of sight were able to savor the uniqueness of Chipotle. These differences helped
Chipotle become successful. However, as competitors copy the traits that make Chipotle unique,
Chipotle must adapt and overcome in order to remain a profitable company. Chipotle saw an
opportunity in the fast casual restaurant industry and launched an innovative concept. It believes
that fresh and quality ingredients are key and that customers are willing to pay more for such
ingredients. To ensure such ingredients, Chipotle uses a large amount of organic food in their
restaurants. This not only creates fresher and healthier food options for consumers, but also assists
local farms that supply the organic food. Not only does Chipotle use organic food, but it uses
produce that is in season. This reduces the costs of transporting produce and ensures that the
ingredients are fresh. While competitors attempt to replicate the menu, style, and flavors of
Chipotle, they do not have the resources to use organic ingredients as efficiently as Chipotle does.

The Impact that Physical Education Can Have on Encouraging...
One of the definitions of Physical Education is; regular instruction in physical exercise and games
in schools and other institutions (Oxford English Dictionary). It is compulsory in the UK for
every child up to the age of 16. Physical Education has been adapted immensely to fit the needs of
young people and is still continuing to change. There are an increasing number of young people
leading sedentary lifestyles by watching television instead of doing physical activity (British Heart
Foundation, 2012). In this essay, ideas have been challenged and there is a distinct argument about
the impact that PE can have on encouraging young people to engage in physical activity.

From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical Education
have been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There was a strong emphasis on
competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children
dislike the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social
reasons. This wouldn t encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may
not want to compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the
new National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical
activity rather than sport. This reduced the amount of competitive elements and made it more about
taking part. Some would say that the 4th NCPE was seen as successful as in 2007, 17% of boys
and 16% of girls aged 2 15 were classified as obese and this decreased as in 2009, 16% of boys and
15% of girls aged 2 15 were seen as obese (Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet England,
2009 and 2011). This slight decrease could be down to the change in the type of activities offered
in school although it may not be the only factor. Giving young people the opportunity to set
personal goals rather than basing everything around competition would promote life long
participation in physical activity as they will get a sense of achievement from completing that
specific goal. However, this focus on health and

Sears Holdings Corporation and Denial Class Discussion Essay
Denial Class Discussion Questions I would suggest that you develop notes for these.
1. What is denial and what problems does it lead to?
Denial is how we pay attention to everything today; we are constantly making unconscious choice
about what to notice, and not to notice. It means when something happened and the person lies to
cover up or used to escape from the truth, According to the book, Denial is the unconscious calculus
that if an unpleasant reality were true, it would be too terrible, so therefore it cannot be true.
Denial today is all around us, if we ignore the obvious at a certain moment because we simply don
t want to confront it, it might lead to more problems. The longer we ignore it the more serious it ...

the nation was growing wealthier, many people moved to suburbs and many malls were
developed, but when the developer asked for longer leases, A P refused to sign them and shut
itself out of the quickly growing market. In addition, A P abandoned the entire West Coast
market, which was a growing market as well and have huge potentials and opportunities. With the
television innovation, A P loses its consumer support as the growth of national television
advertising drives increasing customer demand for national brand products, while A P was

Leon Cooper The Thin Red Line
The Film to be shown for Future Generations If Leon Cooper were to watch the film The Thin
Red Line, he might actually be moved to tears at how closely accurate the war was portrayed.
The film shows perfectly the destruction of the islands that once were inhabited by peaceful
locals into a place that is unrecognizable. Not only that, it flawlessly demonstrated the breakdown
of soldiers and how they felt towards the war. Leon Cooper would relate mostly to two of the
characters in how they view the war and the way they handled their situations. There were
characters that Cooper hated also due to their motives and how they did not cared about the lives of
the soldiers. This would have angered Cooper at how selfish the character was and not

He probably couldn t stand this character seeing how he is the epitome of everything Cooper is
fighting against. Tall was acting as the evils in the war, besides the enemies. Cooper would have
thought how Tall symbolizes how the US government is. He does not care for the people and
soldiers but only for the glory of beating the enemies not caring about the loss. He haphazardly
gave orders to send men to their deaths without carefully analyzing the seriousness of the
predicament that they are in; only there to get the results. This was similar to how the U.S just
sent men to battle to multiple islands without much preparation and caused many unnecessary
deaths and miscalculations. They were so rushed for victory that many soldiers died in the war.
The US and Tall could have handled the situation with more planning. Something that he could
also compare is the fact that most of the time the two were more acting behind the scenes and
were not actively in the battle. While Tall was safely at the bottom of the hill away from the
bunkers, he was furious when Staros would not send his men uphill to battle when it was clearly
disadvantage on their side. Similarly the U.S. just sent out more and more troops to battle while
the officials are safe back in the U.S. Lastly the way that he handled with the fallen soldiers are

The policy of most governments toward bilingualism in the home is and long has been one of

Textual Analysis Beowulf
Ms. Dawson, this poem is getting good a little too good. Lol. Well, Beowulf decided to return a

of Beowulf wasn t afraid of nothing or nobody. He could have been in the king s position, but he
chose not too for the simplest facts that he wasn t next in line. Although he was the strongest, he
wanted to do what was ethical. Beowulfdecided to take 14 of his best men because he knew they

Line 111 and 120 supports my decision to where they stayed strapped and ready for who or

Sometimes I m not afraid to ask God to send me a sign. I need that sign. Life gets hard, and I

Explain The Five Stages Of A Helping Relationship
There are five stages of a helping relationship. First stage of a helping relationship is rapport and
trust building. During the beginning of this stage, clients are concern about the level of trust they
have for the helper, and the helper is concern about the legal side of the service. (Neukrug, 2013,
pg. 116). For an example, the helper have to give a disclosure statement that discusses limits, legal
issues, fees, and purpose of the interview. The client must give the helper an informed consent this
shows that the client receive the disclosure statement, understand it, and agree with it. (Neukrug,

good social skills, and listening. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During this stage, both the client and the helper assess the problems and work together. In the
process, the helper asks series of questions to identify the issues, and explore other issues that
might arise. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117). The reasons for the questions is to stay focus on the real
issues.
Third stage of the helping relationship is deepening understanding and goal setting. Besides basic
helping skills, one would add skills to deepen the relationship with client. (Neukrug, 2013, pg.
117). In this stage, the client is allowing the helper to see their true self. When the true self is
reveal, the client is more honest when it comes to questions. The helper can t rush this process, or
the client will pull back on the relationship. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117).
The fourth stage is work. Fourth stage consist of working on the issues that were identify and
agreed on. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). The helper will use different skills to help the client to tackle
the problem. The clients takes responsibility on their identify issues and building themselves up to

The Role Of Temperance In Jacksonian America
Temperance, the moderation of consumption of alcohol, created conflict between different sets

Alcohol was the meeting point of many. The Marine Corps was started alone in a tavern.
Creating this idea of being more moral because one doesn t drink set people off. As written in our

Hitler s Influence On The Nazi Regime
To assess the popularity of the Nazis one must first establish the meaning of popularity and in
what ways it can be assessed. Popularity in this instance is support and conformity to the Nazi
regime. This essay will span from Hitler and the party s early days in the Burgerbraukeller in
Munich up to the death of the regime in 1945. The evidence used will span from Hitler s own
words in Mein Kampf to the masses of propaganda left behind upon the regimes collapse. The
biggest historiographical debate in my opinion on this subject is resistenz argued by Martin
Broszat and Loyal reluctance argued mainly by Robert Gellately and Ian Kershaw. During this
essay both sides will be evaluated with the idea of popularity at the forefront and how each
argument adds or detracts from my argument that the Nazis were mainly a popular regime. Loyal
reluctance can be described in this context as loyalty to the regime but reluctance to change in
order to fit the image of the regime. For example a women wearing make up does not necessarily
mean she is showing resistance or resistenz but is simply unwilling to change although she
supports the regime in full. Up until 1936 conformity had a veneer of legality with the use of the
Gestapo and the secret police. Evans used the term the sunny side of the regime (Kershaw, p. 13)
to term 1933 to 1936. This appears to be an accurate estimate of the support for the Nazis up until
this point as the organisations put into place seemed to stem the

and your tire blows. What do you do? Do you panic and call roadside assistance, or are you lucky
enough to have the knowledge to replace the tire? It is surprising that many people have no idea
how to change a flat tire. It is a shame that more people do not know how to perform such a
simple and useful task. Learning this skill will help you become more independent and get you
back on the road quicker. Luckily, it is not that hard to learn. If you follow these simple steps, you
will have a new tire on your car in approximately eight to ten minutes.

Next, you will loosen the lug nuts do not take the lug nuts completely off the hub assembly and
begin to place the jack. You will need to place the jack under a secure place on your specific car.
You can find this information in the owner s manual or by calling your dealership. After you
have gotten the jack positioned correctly, you will begin to lift the car. There are two types of
jacks: a hydraulic jack and a scissor jack. If you are using a scissor jack, you will insert the rod,
and then you will begin to crank it. If you are using a hydraulic jack, you will simply pump the
handle up and down with long even strokes. After the car is lifted, you place your jack stands in
a safe position and start to lower the jack. If at any point you feel like the stands are not holding
the car correctly get all body parts out from under the car and use the jack again to readjust the
stands. Now that your car is safely positioned, you will take the lug nuts completely off the wheel
and take the flat tire off. You are now halfway done with the changing process.
The last two steps are very challenging. But do not panic, you can complete this process. Now, you
will align the spare tire with the lug bolts and place your lug nuts over the bolts. You can now take
your lug wrench and tighten the lug nuts; you need to tighten your lug nuts in a star pattern instead
of a circular pattern. This ensures the wheel will not rotate while tightening your lug nuts. This step

Birth And Blood Cells Are Formed ( Tb ) ( Circulation )
After fertilization (in the fallopian tube), the zygote transforms into a group of cells that multiply
rapidly. Then it moves towards the uterus, develops into a blastocyst, attaches into the uterine wall
and differentiate into three layers (ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm), that will give a beginning
to all tissues and organs. The embryoforms embryonic membranes (yolk sac, amnion, chorion and
allantois), which help to protect the embryo. The placenta begins to develop (from embryos
chorion and a part of mother s endometrium), which will transfer nutrients and oxygen from the
mother to the baby, and waste products from the baby, will produce and secrete hormones, and it
will be in charge of immunologic barrier. The placenta is connected to the foetus by the umbilical
cord. Backbone, vertebral, the central nervous system, and small protrusions (future legs and
arms) develop. Heart and blood cells are formed (circulation begins). At the end of this month, the
embryo is around 6 7mm long. During the second month, small protrusions transform into arms
and legs. Fingers, toes, and eyes develop (become apart and eyelids are fused). Fundamental blood
vessels, sensory, internal organs and digestive tract are formed. Neural tube development is well
progressed and the ossification begins. By the end of the second month, the baby, now a foetus, is
about 3 cm long, weighs about 1g. During the third month the foetus fully develops its feet, toes,
arms, hands and fingers, it can

The Battle with Nividia and Amd
anonymous axolotl hour 8 edited by Title
The battle between Nividia and Amd has been waging sence 1993. Which company has the best
gpu? Which company provides the best gaming experiance? well thats exactly what this paper is
about. this paper states that the nividia genforce gtx 780 ti provides a better gaming experiance
than the amd radieon r9 290 x. these two cards currently (as of december of 2013) are the best
cards for gaming that money can buy. also it is stated that all benchmarks temperature tests, and fps
counts are done with the same cpu, motherboard, ram, psu, and cooling technology. So lets end this
battle once and for all.
first, lets discuss CUDA cores and shader units. These are both practicly the same thing, just
from diffent companys. CUDA stands for compute unifies device achitecture ( Nividia 3). these
powerful units can be manipulated for any of your graphical needs. they can process images in
ultra high resolutions, or even work together to make a super realistic phisics engine. (hint: look
in paragraph 5 for more information on that). for the number people out ther the Gtx 780 ti has
2880 CUDA cores( newegg 10). Also the R9 290x has 2880 shader units (newegg is measured in
10). so as you can see there isnt any diffences in power there. next, lets talk about clock speeds.
clocks speeds are basicly how fast your gpu can use its hardware to pocess the graphics in your
game. the clock speed of a graphics card id measured in mhz. a mhz is 1 million hz.

Indigenous People In Canada Essay
Terminology: Different terminology is used to describe groups of people. In Canada it had been
commonly accepted to say Aboriginal or First Nations people; however, nowadays, the term
Indigenous is more appropriate. Indigenous people are those, living on Canadian territories before
Europeans arrival. The term includes First Nations, Metis, and Inuit. All these groups have a unique
culture, languages, and beliefs.
History: Indigenous communities have existed for thousands of years on the Canadian territories.
They lived as independent nations, with different degrees of socio cultural, political and economic
complexity. After European came, their interactions were divided into four periods: first mutual
respect, second first conflicts, third ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, accordingly to Maldonado, Having an Indian status does not necessarily mean free
universities and no taxes (lecture, November 15, 2016). The Canadian s stereotypes about
Indigenous people and their favorable position in the society is based on the misunderstanding and
leads to the discrimination they are still facing nowadays. Although Canada s bill of rights were
created in 1960 and gave people the right for equality, liberty, and freedom of speech and religion,
even the fact of existence of Residential Schools makes it obvious that Ingenious people were still
harshly discriminated. Those schools, where children were kept away from their families and
taught that their culture was evil, that their parents were pagans, that their identity was primitive,
existed till 1996 and have been teaching approximately 150,000 First Nation, Inuit and Metis
children (lecture, November 15, 2016). Residential School is an example of the discrimination
against Aboriginals, trial to diminish the culture, language and family connections of the whole
nation. The formation of The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada was an essential
step for the Government in order to renew the positive relationships with Indigenous people. This
commission worked on revealing the truth about the Residential Schools and informing about it all
Canadians. I believe that creating such programs is an important part of history of social policy in
Canada as it fosters positive relationships between different groups of

Lois Prunesworth s Argumentative Essay
Lois Prunesworth hated technology with the firiest of passions. Everywhere she looked, young
people were always on their phones and computers, paying more attention to how many friends
they had on social media than how many friends they had in the real world. She found it
absolutely deplorable. Wherever she went, she always made certain that anyone 40 years
younger than her knew that she did not approve of whatever electronic device was on their
person. While she was waiting in line at the supermarket, she made sure to tell the girl texting in
front of her that, when she was a girl as young as she was, she had to walk 2 miles, backwards,
uphill, through the snow in order to socialize with any of her friends. When she took her dog, Fifi,...

The confrontation lasted a whole 5 minutes, in which Ms. Prunesworth unloaded practically all
she had to say about technology. The old bag practically screamed at the poor young woman, her

Ceo Robert A. Disney Corporation
In his letter to shareholders that proceeds the 2014 financial report, Disney s CEO Robert A. Iger
divulges Disney s brand strategy, he states, we ve reached this level of sustained success by
focusing on three strategic priorities that unlock the limitless potential of this remarkable company:
unparalleled creativity, innovative technology, and global expansion (Fiscal Year 2014 3). Though
Iger does not specifically refer to Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP) in his letter, the company s
strategic priorities most certainly extend to DTP. The Walt Disney
Corporation (WDC) is divided
into four segments: Media Networks (ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel), Parks and Resorts, Studio
Entertainment, and Consumer Products. DTP is a part of the Studio Entertainment Division.
According the Fiscal Year 2014 Annual Financial Report,
Disney Theatrical Group develops, produces and licenses live entertainment events. The Company
has produced and licensed Broadway productions around the world...Disney Theatrical Group
licenses the Company s intellectual property to Feld Entertainment, the producer of Disney On Ice
and Disney Live!. (14)
This statement makes up merely one small paragraph in a 214 page document, which parallels the
reality that DTP is but one tiny drop in the Walt Disney Corporation bucket. It is also difficult to
track what percentage of the WDC DTP represents for several reasons. First and foremost, given the
fact that DTP is a department under the studio entertainment

Essay about The Vietnam War s Effects on American Society
The Vietnam War s Effects on American Society
Abstract
The Vietnam War had a profound effect on American society.
It changed the way we viewed our government, the media, and our Constitutional rights. Because of
this shift in perspective, the country was torn apart and yet still came together in new and different
ways. The Vietnam War s contraversiality spurred a great many sources of protest, against our
government s use of power, how far we could stretch the rights of free expression, and primarily
against the violence of the war itself. These changes in the behavior of society have left a lasting
mark on our perception and the demand to be informed since that influencial period of social
turmoil.

It was not just a war in Vietnam or in
America, but the war became a symbol (Gioglio, 20).
One of the most prevelant type of protests were based on the imparting of knowledge. These were
known as teach ins. The teach ins were really the first step in raising conciousness to the impact the
war could have(Fever, 11).
They were the first things to get people informed and involved. Starting with teach ins during the
spring of
1965, the massive antiwar efforts centered on the colleges, with the students playing leading roles.
These teach ins were mass public demonstrations, usually held in the spring and fall seasons. The
teach in movement was at first, a gentle approach to the antiwar activity (Gettleman, 54).
Teach ins were one important way to bring more people into the antiwar movement. During a teach
in, students, faculty
members, and guest speakers discussed issues concerning the
Vietnam war (McCormick, 37). The teach ins began at the
University of Michigan in March of 1965, and spread to other campuses, including Wisconsin in
April. These protests at some of America s most well known universities attracted the public eye.
The demonstrations were one form of attempting to go beyond mere words and research and
reason, and to put direct pressure on those who were conducting policy in apparent disdain for the
will expressed by the voters
(Spector, 30 31). Although

How Advertisements Are Effective Or Not Towards The Audience
The FDA has Real Cost campaign advertisements that are used through a variety of different
media vehicles such as TV, radio, print, digital, and out of home states. (FDA 2016) These
advertisements are displayed through every media possible and it would be hard not to encounter
it in form for the few years it has been present for the public to see. Throughout my essay, I will
discuss how these advertisements are used and whether they are effective or not towards the
audience in preventing smoking. The most effective ways these Real Cost advertisements are used
is by showing pictures in magazines or on billboards in places such as train stations of tobaccos
effects on your health. These advertisements also air different videos of adolescents attempting
to buy cigarettes and in each video, they do something out of the ordinary such as pulling out
their teeth or tearing a piece of skin off their face. These advertisements are to inform the
adolescents that smoking tobacco can cause various health problems such as gum disease and
premature aging. I have seen this campaign used most on TV advertisements, especially when
popular TV shows air at night and I feel it s the most effective form of media used for FDA s
Real Cost advertisements. According to Belch (2012), the interaction of sight and sound offers
tremendous creative flexibility and makes possible dramatic, lifelike representations of products
and services. TV commercials can be used to convey a mood or image for a

were measured as citizens of the nation, not as women... this was people s war, and everyone
was in it. (Colonel Oveta Culp Hobby). Women took responsibilies of many jobs, like in
factories, nursing and much more, they had to take care of their homes and families. The society
of womens suffrage changed and the economy. The actions of the women during World War 1

but men would get about 4.5 pounds, this deferd for every job but was very unfair towards the

  • 3. Law Of The Seas Memo Law of the Seas Memo Marine Langreney History The freedom of the seas doctrine was created in the 17th century as a means to control rights over ocean space. The doctrine assigned national rights to areas controlled by limited belts, with the remaining being assigned as a public space, free to all nations. By the mid 20th century, technology became more advanced and the ocean s resources became vulnerable to the innovations. Rising conflicts occurred over ocean reserves, from decreasing fish stocks to pollution left by long distance boats and oil tankers. Tension was rising from Navies of powerful nations, and were now competing for control over these resources. There was a clear demand for power and presence over marine resources. Oceans were becoming a new area of conflict, and the freedom of the seas doctrine was too outdated to keep up with these new troubles. It wasn t until 1945, when President Harry Truman extended sovereignty over the entire continental shelf extended from the United States, that other countries took note and followed. This was the first instance where the freedom of seas was being challenged, and his success lead to many countries claiming similar territories. Argentina was the first country to follow, and claimed its own continental shelf along with the one that lay above. Chile, Peru and Ecuador followed, but had claimed a zone of 200 miles. This came out of fear for their decreasing fish stocks, as they wanted to limit the number of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Othello, a Story of Rejection, Prejudice, Envy, and Revenge Othello, a Story of Rejection, Prejudice, Envy, and Revenge The play Othello moves around the story of a Moor who has just run away with the beautiful Desdemona and leaves Venice to command the Venetian armies against the Turks on the island of Cyprus. Othello is accompanied by his new wife and his lieutenant, Cassio. When they arrive, they find that the weather has destroyed the Turkish fleet. Iago, the evil antagonist, repeatedly tries to destroy Othello because he is upset Othello gave the position he wanted to achieve to another soldier. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does not care what happens to anyone else as long as he is happy. Jealousy and revenge trying to hurt Othello lead Iago to have Roderigo killed, Cassio severely injured, his own wife Emilia and Desdemona dead, and Othello committing suicide. Finally, Iago ends up being tortured and killed for his great conspiracy. After reading this story, can we ask ourselves, is it really worth it? Iago s motivation is his love of evil. He has no conscience. He is not able to feel love. Iago treats others as fools and has no sign of repentance. Ironically, Shakespeare portrays him as honest Iago. Shakespeare has built the character of Iago from an idea already existing in the theatrical culture of his time. The devil in religious morality plays. [1] Evil, hatred, and revenge can only lead you to one direction, self destruction and death. Te saddest part of this story is you do not die alone. You can destroy other people s lives in the process even those of innocent people like Desdemona or Emilia who are secondary characters in the story. During Shakespearian time, women were rarely seen as equal. They were often seen as inferior people who needed to be taken care by men. Othello shows how women are owned by men. They can also be stolen . Men can play with them. Women are seen as prizes men can get. Desdemona, Othello s wife, can be defined as a human being with no free will. She cannot make her free choices. She cannot love. She can only be owned. Even her father ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. James Weldon Johnson My City Essay The sonnet poem, My City, by James Weldon Johnson is about how a man is so in love with his city, Manhattan that he doesn t want to die and never be able to see it again. This poem shows the emotion connection he shares with his city. The mood, tone, theme, imagery, repetition, and personification in the poem will help you to understand it better. If it weren t for these details, you wouldn t quite understand this piece as well, since there would be many ways to interpret it. The speaker gives a personal statement in this piece of poetry. He asks what his greatest loss would be once he dies, and he answers it in detail. You will see the poet s love for Manhattan, and see how beautiful his emotional connection is with it. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poet talks about all the things that he won t miss after death, which is nature. He uses imagery to express it. Johnson (1923) writes, Will it be that no more I shall see the trees/ Or smell the flowers or hear the singing birds/ Or watch the flashing streams or patient herds? (p. 677). He gets you to imagine nature and its beauty, and then writes, No, I am sure it will be none of these. (Johnson, 1923, p. 677). Now that you know it s not nature that he will miss the most, he continues to talk about his city, Manhattan, and that it would be the thing he would miss the most. The poet then uses personification and repetition to explain what he loves about his city. Johnson (1923) writes, But ah! Manhattan s sights and sounds, her smells,/ Her crowds, her throbbing force, the thrill that comes/ From being of her a part, her subtle spells,/ Her shining towers, her avenues, her slums (p. 677). The personification here clearly shows the emotional connection he shares with his city. The fact that he refers to his city as a her just shows how much he loves Manhattan. Also, as you can see, there is a repetition of the word her, which creates excitement in the tone of the poem. It changes the mood entirely and the fact that the poet constantly refers to his city as a her, and not an it just shows how much love he has for Manhattan. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Tesco s Marketing Pl Tesco Executive Summary As the UK market becomes more saturated over the years, Tesco will be in need of a new marketing plan that will allow them to enter other markets. Tesco attempted to penetrate the US market with its own shops and failed leading to a loss of $1.3 billion. Penetrating other markets may be better only if joint ventures are achieved, a prime example of that is the joint venture with Tata (IB times, 2014a). Even though Tescoare using more money than any other retailer with their marketing budget, Tesco s marketing is deemed unsuccessful. Tesco have failed marketing their brand well, Tesco s clubcard does not allow them to spend their marketing budget properly. Removal after using the data for Ansoff s matrix may be the best option. Humans love to argue their point of view with others in order to determine the correct viewpoint on various matters. Throughout the world, many approach a debatewith opinions formulated from different outlooks on life. Perceptions of a situation establish themselves based on where and how a person was raised. When elaborating on historical events, more often than not, two passionate sides emerge, those who focus on injustices and freedom and those who look at events focused on traditional values. • 11. Brown Had A Lot Of Co-Plotters To Help Him With The... 1.The first of the three reasons that John Brown became a violent protester to slavery are as follows. In his mind, John believed that he was fulfilling their struggle for freedom in terms of the revolutionary soldier and puritan that he had descended from (3). In other words, the fight was already in him, he was trying to do good because he already saw what the puritans had went through to achieve their freedom. It was in his blood so to speak. The second of the three reasons is that John believed that God had called him to make do this for the slaves. John Brownwas a very religious man as it talks about him going to church and evening going as far as making his children write down their sins they committed in the day. (17) The third and final reason for John browns turn to violence is the fact that he did not believe that a non violent tactic would work against the pro slavery people. The massacre of Pottawatomie was a true example of what John Brown believed was the correct way to handle this problem of slavery. 2.John brown had a lot of co plotters to help him with the Harpers Ferry raid. The amount of planning Brown did for just this raid was insane when you think about it he devoted most if not all of his time to this. He went as far as making sure they weren t looking suspicious to the people in Maryland while carting around weapon wagons of freight. (102) Brown also even turned to his family for help in the raid. I do not know if it is out of desperation or if it is out of devotion to his cause of abolishment of slavery. • 12. The Power Of The War According to Article One, Section Eight, Congress has the power To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water; This means that Congress must be consulted before going to war and has the power to not only declare war, but also the power to raise an army and navy, to fund wareffort; however, the President, in Article II, is named commander in chief of the armed forces, but this does not give him the power to commit armed forces to war. Although the Constitution grants Congress the power to declare war, there has been much debate about who should actually have the power to wage war. Often times, Congress is argued to be the better fit because the decision made will be well thought out, democratic, and promote international harmony. The other side of the argument states the the president should be the one to wage war. Even Alexander Hamilton stated that Presidents should conduct war, because they could act with decision, activity, secrecy and dispatch. Presidents also can make a quick decision without waiting on Congress and their disagreements due to the fact that foreign affairs can often be unpredictable. • 13. The Name Of The Rose The book, The Name of The Rose, transpires in a medieval abbey located between Pomposa and Conques, around 1327, in which strange events befall on the monks which appear to mysteriously correlate to the Book of Revelation (Loc 111). The author of the book, Umberto Eco, employs medieval theology to portray philosophical ideas, such as the postmodern concept which theorizes that all text relates to one another. Through the application of architectural imagery, the illustrative characteristics of animals, the application of numerology, latin quotation and erroneous interpretation of scripture, Eco composed a masterpiece that loosely parallels events and language located within the Book of Revelation. Utilizing the circumstances of the period, the author hints at the harmful nature of futuristic exegesis of biblical narrative, especially with a focus on the apocalyptic text of the Book of Revelation. Apocalyptic literature, often ornamented with intricate visions, symbolism and numerology, is a classification of cataclysmic Jewish writings which incorporate impressions of heaven along with revelations. Through the depiction of the conflagration of the abbey, elegant symbolism and extravagant visions within, The Name of the Rose exhibits idiosyncrasies of the apocalyptic genre. The Book of Revelation, which contains a profuse amount of homogenous attributes to The Name of the Rose, is also suitable to the apocalyptic labelling. Some historians believe these revolutions to be equivalent, but there are many aspects that make them different. The main similarity was the effort made to limit the power of the monarchy. The Glorious Revolution and French Revolution are more different then they are similar because of the events leading up to the revolutions and the methods used to achieve the goal of limiting monarchial rule. When comparing the Glorious Revolution and the French Revolution, it is important to consider the events that led up to them. In England, King James was Catholic and appointed Catholics to important positions and granted religious tolerance. His actions would have not been approved by Parliament because before his accession to the throne, the Parliament had tried and failed to pass a law that prevented a Catholic king from taking the throne. The creation of this law was due to the actions of his brother, King Charles. The Parliament would not provide money for King Charles to run the kingdom, thus he turned to France for help. • 15. Martin Luther Purgatory Beliefs Martin Luther, like most traditional Christians, believed that this life was simply a pilgrimage, a journey toward our destination. That destination was an eternity spent either in heaven or in hell. There was nothing one could do to earn a spot in heaven God freely forgave the sins of some, and they could enter heaven. Luther disagreed strongly with the Roman Catholic teaching that there is also a place called purgatory, because purgatory is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible. The belief in purgatory developed over the course of the middle Ages, driven by the logic of the Catholic system of sanctification. Those who were baptized and thus cleansed of the stain of original sinstill had to pay the debt for the offense of sin to a perfect God. In addition, any additional sins must be paid for. You earned merits toward the debt by performing works, especially the sacraments. Lutheranism believe that people are saved by God s mercy and forgiveness and not by righteousness for our past or even by a personal action of deciding to following Jesus. Members of the artistic group of Kaufman s, traveled to Laramie to find out more about the horrific incidence. The main aim of the whole project was to find the emotions, reactions, and reflections that the people of Laramie manifested concerning the beating and subsequent death of a twenty three year old college student (Gale, 2016). A lot of questions were raised concerning the death as people had different point of views. Some thought it was a hate crime, others thought it was just a brutal assault or a form of robbery. Four hundred interviews were conducted so as to come up with the reasons behind the brutal murder straight from the town folks. The main issue was how homosexuality was defined in the crime. The Laramie Project, questioned the rights of the LGBT+ group. For example, why were Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgenders discriminated by the community and the society as a whole even though their rights were constitutional? I quickly learned that this little guy is full of energy and excitement, and also a little bit of attitude, with sticky fingers and rosy cheeks! It was clear to see that he is an adventure seeker as he explored his surroundings with eyes that appeared to be thoughtful as his curious little mind absorbed every single inflection of the words spoken by those who interacted with him and all of this is what I observed within just the first five minutes of my time spent with Jacey. The people of ancient Israel stood as testament to this. However Gods promise to the Israelites is seen in this passage promising his blessings if they stood true to his law. This essay will explore the relationship between obedience to the law and Gods blessing using Jacqueline Grey s Them, Us Me principle of looking at the bible. Them The book of Deuteronomy was written while Israel was in a time of wandering the wilderness due to disobedience. The 40 years of wandering were almost up and God was re affirming the covenant and giving them the law that covered all areas of their lives. Right near the end of this massive book of covenant law God promises in Deuteronomy 28 to bless the Israelites if they obeyed whole heartedly. For ancient Israel, blessing flowed from obedience to God. The blessings are listed in the following verses after the excerpt and they cover all parts of their life. However the fickleness of human strength showed them getting complacent and laidback living in the blessing and disobeying the law. Through this they would spiral down into disobedience, worshipping other gods to try and make up for the lack of Gods blessing but only being cursed more. This would result in them eventually crying out to God and being obedient again. • 26. User Authentication in Computer Security 1 INTRODUCTION User authentication is a most important component in most computer security. It provides user with access control and user accountability. As we know there are many types of user authentication systems in the market but alphanumerical username/passwords are the most common type of user authentication. They are many and easy to implement and use. Due to the limitation of human memory, most users tend to choose short or simple passwords which are easy to remember. Surveys show that frequent passwords are personal names of family members, birth date, or dictionary words. In most cases, these passwords are easy to guess and vulnerable to dictionary attack. Today users have many passwords for personal computers, social networks, E mail, and more. They may decide to use one password for all systems to decrease the memory burden, which reduce security. Graphical passwords is harder to guess or broken by brute force. If the number of possible pictures is sufficiently large, the possible password space of a graphical pass word scheme may exceed that of text based schemes and thus most probably offer improved security against dictionary attacks. The use of graphical password methods is gaining awareness because of these advantages. Graphical passwords were originally described by Blonder. Many children dislike the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This wouldn t encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical activity rather than sport. The Responsibility Of Whaling In Herman Melville s Moby Dick While whaling amongst his own ship, inspired by a rumor, Herman Melville created what Nathaniel Hawthorne called The Great American Epic. Melville s Fictional novel Moby Dick was based off of true events from Nantucket, Massachusetts. Melville interviewed one of the few survivors from the sunken ship, the Essex, to get the full story. During the beginning of this stage, clients are concern about the level of trust they have for the helper, and the helper is concern about the legal side of the service. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). Popularity in this instance is support and conformity to the Nazi regime. This essay will span from Hitler and the party s early days in the Burgerbraukeller in Munich up to the death of the regime in 1945. The evidence used will span from Hitler s own words in Mein Kampf to the masses of propaganda left behind upon the regimes collapse. The biggest historiographical debate in my opinion on this subject is resistenz argued by Martin Broszat and Loyal reluctance argued mainly by Robert Gellately and Ian Kershaw. During this essay both sides will be evaluated with the idea of popularity at the forefront and how each argument adds or detracts from my argument that the Nazis were mainly a popular regime. Loyal reluctance can be described in this context as loyalty to the regime but reluctance to change in order to fit the image of the regime. For example a women wearing make up does not necessarily mean she is showing resistance or resistenz but is simply unwilling to change although she supports the regime in full. Up until 1936 conformity had a veneer of legality with the use of the Gestapo and the secret police. Evans used the term the sunny side of the regime (Kershaw, p. 13) to term 1933 to 1936. Then it moves towards the uterus, develops into a blastocyst, attaches into the uterine wall and differentiate into three layers (ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm), that will give a beginning to all tissues and organs. The embryoforms embryonic membranes (yolk sac, amnion, chorion and allantois), which help to protect the embryo. The placenta begins to develop (from embryos chorion and a part of mother s endometrium), which will transfer nutrients and oxygen from the mother to the baby, and waste products from the baby, will produce and secrete hormones, and it will be in charge of immunologic barrier. The placenta is connected to the foetus by the umbilical cord. Backbone, vertebral, the central nervous system, and small protrusions (future legs and arms) develop. Heart and blood cells are formed (circulation begins). At the end of this month, the embryo is around 6 7mm long. During the second month, small protrusions transform into arms and legs.
