Review of the 2014/15 Coca Cola Sustainability Report
Part 1 – Report Analysis
1.
Coca Cola's sustainability strategy is aligned rather than being just an afterthought. That is, the
sustainability strategy is effectively aligned with the company's strategic objective. As
Coca Cola endeavors to refresh the world, the company and its local bottling partners strive at
creating new value for their customers. The management is also committed not only on effectively
implementing the strategy, but also keeping it aligned with the general strategic objective (Coca
Cola, 2015).
2.
The company's sustainability report follows Triple Bottom Line (TBL) and the goals also reflect the
TBL. The TBL is a framework that integrates three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the report follows other international frameworks. For instance, the report follows the
United Nations Global
Compact LEAD Program and it also satisfies the United Nations Global Compact
Communication on Progress standards.
5.
Apart from internal verification, the report is also verified by third parties. For instance,
Coca Cola permitted their independent accountants, Ernst & Young LLP to conduct review–level
assurance on sustainability indicators associated with health living programs, Plant Bottle
packaging, greenhouse gas emissions, No or Low–calorie beverages, and front–of–pack labeling,
among others (Coca Cola, 2015). Other third parties also offered more external assurance of non–
financial metrics.
6.
Additionally, the report encompasses bad news, good news, challenges and opportunities.
As far as good news is concerned, the report explains the company's success in their top three
sustainability priorities including support of well–being, water, and women. In terms of bad news,
the report informs that the company is not contended with not only their sustainability progress, but
also the milestones they have accomplished (Coca Cola, 2015). The report also informs that the
company faces critical challenges when sourcing more sustainable products especially HFC–free
coolers. The company also faces challenges

Coca-Cola
Founded 129 years ago in 1886 by Dr. John Styth Pemberton, the Coca–Cola Company is a
multinational corporation and producer, retailer, and distributor of nonalcoholic beverage. For over
20 years, it has been one of the biggest brands and is recognized by 94% of people all over the
world. There are many factors that contribute to the success and reputation of Coca–Cola, the
following essay will discuss briefly about how Coca–Cola dominates the beverage industry in the
21st Century. Coca–Cola is considered to be the top brand with valuation about 83.84 billion dollars
in 2015, whose net operating worldwide grows from 28.86 billion dollars in 2007 to 46 billion
dollars in 2014 (Statista). It is now serving 1.9 billion of Coke products everyday in more than 200
countries (Coca–Cola company); more than 8000 glasses of Coke are consumed every second on
our planet (Swapnil). Nevertheless, "if you could collect all the bottles of ... Show more content on

It is said that Coca–Cola's formula is the most guarded trade on Earth – so secret that only two
managing directors know it at one time and each of them just keep half of the process. By that
unclear rumor, the populaces were persuaded to believe that Coca–Cola was such a special drink,
unlike others. Furthermore, the Coca–Cola corporation pays a great amount of money on advertising
more than the budget's combination of Microsoft and Apple in 2010 ("16 interesting and fun facts
about Coca Cola that will blow your mind"). Some of the famous advertising campaigns that Coca–
Cola company had publicized are "The Coca–Cola Happiness Machine", "Move to the beat",
"2ndLives",... Having said that, the most successful one is "Share a Coke". "Share a Coke" is a
chance for you to share your personalized Coke with your friends or your beloved to create special

The Marketing Of The Coca Cola
The main purpose of advertising is to inform people about products offered by an organization,
persuade people to buy the product by using pathos, ethos, logos, or other techniques. The
organization hopes that people will remember them and repeat the purchase. The Coca–Cola ad is
presented as a Coke bottle with a burst of colors shooting out with smiling faces of women in the
midst of all the different colors. The women are presented to be from the 60 's. In fact, the most
recognizable woman in the print ad is Mary Poppins. The style gives off an odd feeling, and brings
out nostalgia. There are men in the ad as well. They are looking at the women with pure adoration
and love. Coca Cola bottles are located everywhere in the ad, in forms of bottles, cups, and even in
boxes. With this Coke ad, Coca Cola chose to use a colorful scheme to appeal to the audience's fun
and free–spirited side, and a line saying "live on the coke side of life." By using pathos, ethos, and
logos, Coca Cola were able to construct a successful ad. For instance, in the Coke ad the first thing
consumers will notice are the colors and how they are incorporated in the image. The background is
red with a regular, classic, Coke bottle. Red is a powerful color and it grabs people 's attentions. The
color red can stimulate appetite, and increase craving for food and other stimuli. The ad also
includes other bright colors with a few neutral colors all exploding out of a Coke bottle. In the
center of the ad

Many beverages have been produced and manufactured over time, but there has never been a drink
that makes your mouth water as your hear the pop of the bottle opening, a drink that bubbles in your
mouth as you drink it, a drink that has an even richer history and more efficient company than any
other. This drink is "French Wine Cola." At least that is what John Stith Pemberton, the creator of
Coca–Cola, called it before his bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, suggested the now famous name
Coca–Cola(Library of Congress). Robinson also suggested adding the slogan, "delicious and
refreshing," to all of Coke's ads. Coca–Cola is a beverage that has been successful for many
years.Though most people would tell you Coca–Cola is just a drink, it is more than just a soft drink.

Coca Col The Company
Coca–Cola grew from a small business serving a small local area on the late 1800's to one of the
largest manufacturers of carbonated beverages. Over the 125 years Coca–Cola has been operating
the company has introduced many firsts to the beverage industry, from making the product mobile to
unique packaging that can be easily distinguished from other brands. Coke over the years has
produced iconic products associated with the advertisement of their products that are now
collectibles including vending machines, serving trays and calendars. Coca–Cola is the story of
innovative advertising that supported a well–placed product. (Coca–Cola, 2011) Coca–Cola was

(Coca–Cola, 2011) The advertising for Coca–Cola started with a calendar in 1891, and by 1911 the
advertising budget exceeded $1 Million. Coca–Cola in the 1920s looked to expand from being a
seasonal drink to being a year round drink with a Santa campaign that helped consolidate the
American ideal of the image of Santa Claus. Three of the company's television ad campaigns are
often ranked as being some of the best ever made, the three ad campaigns "I'd Like to Buy the World
a Coke" 1971, "Mean" Joe Greene" 1979, and "Northern Lights" 1993, are remembered by many
born decades after their debuts. (Coca–Cola, 2011) Coca–Cola's mission is indicative of the
company's record in not only filling the industries with benchmarks for the competition, but also of
corporate social responsibility. Coke includes the mental wellbeing of the general public in their
mission statement, not even limiting their goals to their own clients. (Coca–Cola, 2016) Their vision
provides the framework and values that will help the company to continue to achieve the company

Coca Col Case Study Of Coca-Cola
Summary:
On August 5, 2003, The Centre for Science and the environment (CSE) issued a maligning news
report against Coca–Cola, the leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of non–alcoholic
beverages. The report stated that 12 major cold drink brands sold in and around Delhi contained
'deadly pesticide residues.' Other allegations against the company were water shortages due to
Coca–Cola's extraction of water from the ground water table, discharging of harmful pollutants into
the fields and rivers, including the Ganges and selling of toxic wastes as fertilizers which further
polluted the soil and water table. Also water in the community has been deemed to be unfit for
consumption due to such pollution.

The company produces its non–alcoholic beverages locally having around 7,000 employees at 27
wholly–owned bottling operations supplemented by 17 franchisee–owned bottling operations. In
addition, it indirectly creates employment for another 125,000 people via its procurement, supply
and distribution network.
INTRODUCTION:
Coca–Cola, deemed to be the no.1 brand in the world has been a success in the soft drink industry
over 100 years. However, with these success were a number of crisis that followed along the way.
One such crisis was the 2003 Coca–Cola crisis, when The Centre for Science and Environment
(CSE) issued a vilifying report against Coca–Cola and Pepsico. The CSE report revealed that a few
of their products contained harmful pesticide residues which surpassed the global standards.
SITUATION:
The CSE accusation posed great fear and concern for Coca–Cola and their future standing in India.
After the discovery of the harmful pesticide residue, the Indian Government banned Coke and
Pepsico products. Subsequently, Coca–Cola stock dipped $5 in the New York Stock Exchange from
$55 to $50. The two companies responded to the accusation by stating that the CSE's reports were
invalid. They further strengthen their case by conducting an independent test whose reports showed

The Pepsi Of Coca Cola
When one thinks of soda pop, for most people the brand that comes to mind is Coca–Cola. The
bright red logo and classic bottle design are recognized not only throughout the United States, but
also around the globe. As a large company that carries much influence, it is imperative that Coca–
Cola is aware of the impact that they are having not only on their shareholders, but also all of their
stakeholders and the world as a whole. The drink that is now known as Coca–Cola was invented in
1886 by a pharmacist in Atlanta. Dr. John S. Pemberton created a syrup that could be combined with
carbonated water and sold at soda fountains. The unique taste was a hit with all those who tried it
and soon after its creation, the drink was trademarked and named with the help of Pemberton's
partner Frank M. Robinson (Cantwell, n.d.). Initially, a single serving was a mere five cents and
only an average of nine glasses were sold each day in Atlanta. From there the drink took off and
today an immense 1.9 billion servings of Coca–Cola are sold worldwide each day (Coca–Cola
history, n.d.). Today, Coca–Cola is the number one selling sparkling beverage (Coca–Cola History,
n.d.). Throughout the world, out of every 26 servings of beverages that are consumed, Coca–Cola
products make up 1.5 of these servings (Kent, 2015). This means that 5.7% of all drinks ingested
can be traced back to Coca–Cola. Because of this, Coca–Cola supports annual sales of over 80
billion dollars (Kent, 2015). These

March 27, 1944. A person called John Pemberton has invented it originally as a patent medicine in
the nineteenth century, however later on a businessman Asa Griggs Candler has bought this

Erythroxylum Coca Cocaine
Erythroxylum coca, is a shrub that is native to the lands of Southern and Central America, and
Southeast Asia (1). During the mid–1800s, German chemist Albert Niemann discovered and isolated
the harmful drug, cocaine, from E. coca (2). Shortly after its discovery, companies such as the
Coca–Cola Company used cocaine to add flavor to their carbonated beverages (3). Back then,
cocaine was actually present in just about everything from ointments to margarine. Cocaine was
even used medically as a pain alleviator due to its soothing properties. However, a type of wine
called Vin Mariani was the most popular of drinks because it contained approximately 6 milligrams
of cocaine per ounce. A typical serving of wine is 4–5 ounces so that means one serving ... Show

Cocaine was the leading illicit drug in the late 20th century in America. It is suggested that the use
of cocaine may potentially lead to severe cardiovascular disease, other serious health issues and
even death. Despite these serious health risks, the Drug Abuse Warning Network (7) reported in
2011 a total of 505,224 emergency visits nationwide in regards to cocaine use suggesting that
cocaine use still poses as a problem in today's society. There weren't any antidotes available to be
given for accidental overdoses until the major discovery of enzyme called cocaine esterase (cocE)
(8). CocE is capable of degrading cocaine and therefore the harmful effects of cocaine are
diminished. CocE has the potential to save lives of individuals that are unfortunately under the
control of cocaine.
CocE was isolated from the genomes of bacteria living around the plant, E. coca. CocE was initially
derived from Pseudomonas maltophilia strain MB11L (9). Shortly after, cocE was isolated from the
bacterium, Rhodococcus sp. strain MB1. Bacteria such as these have adapted to their surrounding
environment. These bacteria have acquired the specialized ability to use cocaine produced by the
plant as their sole source of carbon and nitrogen (10). In the environment of a harsh toxin, cocaine,
these bacteria can still obtain energy necessary to thrive and flourish.

New cheaper brands of cola i.e. Virgin Cola There are many cheaper alternatives to Coke, this has
lead to much competition within the industry. Even though Coke has the largest market share, its
overall market share has been reducing. This has resulted in declining profits. If the effect of the
competition becomes more significant then Coke could have potential problems with its profits.
Executive Summary Coca Cola has come along way since its beginnings, from selling nine bottles a
day to currently over 800 million. As well as becoming one of the most recognised brands. It was
introduced into Australia in the 1930's and is currently produced by a subsidiary company, Coca

1990. Two levels of strategies are identified by Robbin and Barnwell(2003), corporate strategies and
business strategies. In reference to Coca–Cola, their strategies are known as the corporate strategies.
These guide the expectations of the business. On the other hand, Coca–Cola Amatil's strategies are
the business level strategies, in this case they are mainly the operationalised versions of the
corporate strategies. When investigating Miles and Snow's four strategies, defenders, prospectors,
analysers and reactors, it was evident that Coca–Cola fits best to the prospector type. This is due to

Coca Col An Experiment
Coca–Cola was found in 1886 product of an experiment by an Atlanta's pharmacist, Dr. John S.
Pemberton. Coca–Cola was only syrup and carbonated water although it was very tasteful drink to
everyone who sampled it. "Dr. Pemberton's secret consisted of the use of African Kola Nut extract
and coca leaves, which are both strong stimulants". His product was sold as syrup that would help
people feel better. One tea spoon had to be diluted in one glass of water; his main idea was to create
something that taste better than plain water. The name of this famous drink was given by Dr.
Pemberton's bookkeeper and partner Frank M. Robinson. "The first servings of Coca‑Cola were sold
for 5 cents per glass. During the first year, sales averaged a modest nine servings per day in Atlanta".
Mr. Robinson not only gave the drink its name but also helped with few of the product's publicity
campaign and unique trade. Aside from marketing signs Robinson had the innovating idea to
distribute coupons for free samples of the well–known soda fountain via newspapers, this strategy is
still in practice today. In 1888, Dr. Pemberton passed away although before his death he sold part of
his Coca–Cola business to Asa G. Candler an Atlanta businessman. Candler's leadership and
marketing ideas led Coca–Cola to an unpredictable growth afar Atlanta. In 1894 with the
collaboration of Joseph Biedenharn, Coca–Cola took a big step by selling the delicious drink in

The Coca Cola Company
Coca–Cola INTRODUCTION Coca–Cola has been around for generations with the same iconic
taste, logo and symbolism. Its brand has represented family and the memories of good times,
celebrations and comfort of being with those we love. Unfortunately, the company has not made
good marketing decisions in the recent past and has lost relevancy. The purpose of this essay is to
assess the conditions that created Coca–Colas marketing problems, evaluate the future of healthy
beverages and non–carb drink brand extensions, and provide recommendations to the management.

They have succeeded in focusing on the brand image, customer retention and adding social and
ethical benefits to every bottle they sell (Coca–Cola.com, 2014). "In advertising, everything depends
on strategy applied on the market, which is adjusted to the positioning" (Moraru, 2010). Innovation
is much more than taking a current beverage and repackaging it with different flavors. It also means
more than boosting Coca–Cola Classic sales (Cravens, 2009). "New formulations could potentially
serve as the basis for future advertising efforts, while providing shelter from health critics and
politicians who blame soda for the nation's obesity epidemic" (Schultz, 2013). New formulations
and brand extensions will help consumers that are no longer purchasing the brand to try new flavors
or brand products, have a positive experience, and then hopefully return to the purchasing of
previous products also (Bloomberg Businessweek, 2005). The innovation strategy should strengthen
the brand. Despite being a billion dollar 125 year company that is a household name around the
world, Coca–Cola has had to cope with unexpected situations and variation of positioning based
upon the main competitions movements, Pepsi. According to Trout and Reis, (2001, p. 10) "Truth is
irrelevant. What matters are the perceptions that exist in the mind." This is a thinking process called

The Demand Of Coca-Cola
Abstract Coca–Cola is the number one non–alcoholic beverage in the world and is also the golden
standard in the beverage industry. Over the pass decade carbonated beverage sales has decrease
which has lead Coca–Cola to seek for new opportunity and investor. Contribution of US soda sales
in Coca–Cola's revenue could decline to less than 15% by 2020. By the end of 2017 Coca–Cola is
looking to refranchise two–thirds of its bottling territories in North America. The outcome of Coca–
Cola refranchise two–third of its bottling territories will reduce the revenue to Coca–Cola sales of its
products, however the operating margin will increase. Also, this could reduce the percentage

must calculate the price elasticity of demand which is calculate by how responsive demand is to rise
in price. Also, the price elasticity of supply measures the responsiveness of quantity supplied to a
change in price. Availability of substitutes: If the price of Coca–Cola was to increase, we can say
that a lot of consumers would turn to other kind of soft drinks and that bring a result of the quality

Historically, many companies and corporations have received recognition for their growth and

Aside from the government, the company's opportunities can also be controlled by private politics
such as protests, public criticism, interest groups as well as public sentiment towards the company.
(Baron p.31). The other factor that can affect opportunities is moral concerns, which Coke seems to
be going through this issue right now. Coke should formulate a policy that oversees the use of water
in India, which is the major concern of groups in private politics.
Interest groups that are in play from the surrounding villages in India include: anti–coke
nongovernmental activist groups, Varanasi–based activist, environmentalist, politicians, farmers and
the villagers that have created lives in surrounding areas. Leading from within these interest groups
is The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board; a statutory organization entrusted to implement
Environmental Laws and rules within the jurisdiction of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India (UPPCB).
The Control Board had found that Coke violated a number of conditions of its license that had to do
with the use of water. The company had not yet obtained clearance for the extraction of groundwater
from the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA), a government agency that monitors and
regulates the process in water–stressed areas (The economic Times). But Coke had some objections
to these accusations.

2. the kinked demand curve The kinked demand curve explains the behaviour of firms. It is a
demand curve faced by oligopolies who assumes that rivals will match a price decrease but ignore a
price increase. The price of the Coke is always similarity with the Pepsi and it is obvious that when
the Coke makes promotion, others easy followed. 3. price leadership As mentioned before, Coca–
cola is a dominant firm in this area, which means it can set the price for the carbonated beverages
industry and the other firms follow. It is a pricing strategy as well. 4. the cartel It refers to a group of
firms formally agreeing to control the price and the output of a product. Take the Coke and Pepsi as
an example, if they become a cartel, that is mean they formally agreeing to control the price and the
output of the carbonated beverage coke. Cartels are illegal in Australia and in most other developed
countries. To sum up, Coke in the oligopoly market structure, because of the barriers for new

The Coca-Col Case Analysis Of The Coca Cola Company
Coca Cola has been in the soft drink industry since 1886. The Coca Cola Company's sale has
increased by over 4000% in between 1890 and 1900 after Asa Candler, a pharmacist and
businessman, bought the Coca Cola formula from John Pemberton, a pharmacist that invented Coca
Cola, and marketed it aggressively (Bellis, 2017). Over the years, the company has been introducing
beverage in varies category, such as, juice, coffee, and sports drinks. The brand is also growing
worldwide. According to Brand Finance, a London consulting firm, Coca Cola was the most
valuable brand in the world in 2007; however, they are now 16th in the U.S. and 27th in the world
(Grantham, 2017). A legendary investor once said that Coca–cola was a strong company that can be
run by ham sandwich; however, the company is having a downfall nowadays. Even though the
company is still making money, but Coke's revenue has slipped for the past four years. One of the
biggest reasons might be the changing of people's lifestyle. As more diseases been discovered,
people preferred a healthy lifestyle, which makes them cut back on their sugar intake to avoid
obesity and diabetes. Besides that, consumer tastes are also often shifting towards new products as
there are more rising companies trying to compete in the beverage market. Problem Statement The
Coca Cola Company must address the changing in consumers' lifestyle and preferences in order to
avoid losing money in the future. Alternative Solutions In order to fight with the upcoming
competitors, the Coca Cola Company needs to keep up with the changes in consumers' preferences
and lifestyle. Coca Cola Company should focus on producing variety of beverages that can cater
different groups of consumers, for example, those who are weary of sugar intake and those who
drink for the taste and does not mind the sugary sweetener. Most people are actually not aware of
the other beverage offered by the company and they can only relate the company to a high sugar soft
drink. By introducing new beverage or pushing their other beverages to get more recognition, they
can satisfy more consumers' needs. Next, in order to get more consumers to come back to Coke,
they can improve their marketing strategy. One way that

description of the language of advertising and language analysis in Coca–Cola slogans from 1886 to
2007. Early advertisements were not very attractive because of their colours (black and white). They
were also not very convincing because they were addressed to receiver that was unknown. Now,
there is a wide spectrum of numerous attractive advertisements that were created for the purpose of
the new advertising campaigns. They are being changed and matched to the tastes and needs of
consumers all the time. Coca–Cola has become an international company that has flooded many
markets with its products. Both advertising theory and practice were included in Coke advertising
campaigns. New ideas and new attempts to reach some interest of the audience are aimed to evoke
the desire in the mind of consumer and to leave something in a memory– something that will be

Coca Col The Marketing Strategy Of Coca-Cola
Strategy
Strategy is the set of decisions and actions to achieve an organisation's goal for a longer term basis.
Strategic managers always go for long term planning as they target the 'big picture' which is also the
execution of the strategies for QBL. A perfect example is for the company to create a brand strategy
and market it, to entertain consumers because high prices bring profit for limited days– advantages
of innovation. The mautiian beverages market is very competitive and includes soft drinks like Coca

main competitor, Coca Cola take come along with a new wraparound labels on their PET bottles

However, I'm of opinion, that we should plan something for long term like special flavoured drinks

he took it to his neighborhood pharmacy where it got mixed with carbonated water. Frank M.

The Competition Between Coca Cola And Coca-Cola
In economics, competition is where rivalry is portrayed in terms of achieving the goal such as
increasing profits, market share and sales capacity by varying the elements in general marketing,
products, prices, distribution and promotion. The microeconomic theory differentiates between
perfect competition and imperfect competition, summarizing that no system of resource allocation is
much more efficient than perfect competition.
Competition going as per the theory causes commercial firms to develop new products, services and
technologies, which would offer consumers greater choices and better products. The greater

with very little competition from other companies. The sales representative with the highest sales or
the best improvement in sales over a period of time would gain benefits from the employer or

However, Coca–Cola continued to stay with the ads that showed 'happy scenes of everyday life.'
These ads helped people escape the realities of the depression and gave them hope that life would
return to normal. Examples included a woman taking a break from gardening to refresh herself with
a Coke, boys and girls in soda fountain ads and Artist Haddon Soundon's famous image of Santa
Claus with a Coke on billboards. The people responded to these ads and Coca–Cola stayed
profitable even during the depression.
World War II had a major effect on Coca–Cola's advertising decisions in the next few years. Their
war time policy was "We will see that every man in uniform gets a bottle of Coca–Cola for five
cents wherever he is and whatever it costs." The company wanted Coke to be a boost for morale and
to promote patriotism. The ads replaced the boys and girls at the soda fountain with smiling soldiers.
Another ad in 1943 urged people to buy war bonds and war stamps and still another showed two
women allies enjoying the "pause that refreshes." Coca–Cola wanted to show that they were part of
the American war effort. The famous red Coca–Cola disk gave the image of the American way of
life before the war and during the war. The interactive advertising strategies and techniques before
and during the war made success possible and made Coca–Cola an American icon today.

Coca Production Of Coca Plant
Coca: the Fight to Survive
The Coca plant has been cultivated in the Bolivian Andes since at least the time of the Inca Empire.
Its cultivation expanded in the 1980s feeding into the international cocaine market. In response to
U.S.–funded attempts to eradicate and fumigate coca crops in the Chapare region of Bolivia, the
indigenous organizations that grow the plant joined together to contest the government in what is
known as the cocalero movement. Evo Morales, who became president of Bolivia in 2006, is a
leader of this movement. The United States' desire to suppress cultivation of the Coca plant due to
its role in making Cocaine does not serve as a suitable rationale of eradicating its production and use
as it yields many different kinds of benefits.
The production of the coca plant is vital for the role it plays in creating cocaine, but the effects of
recreational cocaine use and coca plant use are too different to eradicate the plant altogether.
According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, Cocaine is a powerfully addictive stimulant drug
that produces short–term euphoria, energy, and talkativeness. In addition, its use can cause
potentially dangerous physical effects like raising heart rate and blood pressure ("Drug Facts:
Cocaine"). It goes on to say that in order to sustain their high, people who use cocaine often use the
drug in a binge pattern–taking the drug repeatedly within a relatively short period of time, at
increasingly higher doses. "This practice can

The Success Of Coca-Cola
Coco cola is one of the largest manufacturers, distributors and marketers of nonalcoholic beverages.
Now a days Coca–Cola is the most famous carbonated soft drink sold in markets and restaurants in
over two hundred countries. It is the world's most and recognizable sold commercial brand. In 1886,
Coca–Cola was invented by a pharmacist named John Pemberton, known as "Doc." He fought in the
Civil War, and at the end of the war he decided he wanted to invent something that would bring him
commercial success. Everything he made was failing in pharmacies. He invented a lot of different
drugs, but none of them ever made money. So, after he moved to Atlanta, Pemberton decided to try
and enter the beverage market. In his time, the soda fountain was rising in ... Show more content on

This is where Frank Robinson came in. He registered Coca–Cola's formula with the patent office,
and he designed the logo. He also wrote the slogan, "The Pause That Refreshes." Coke did not do so
well in marketing in its first year. And what is worse, John Pemberton died in August 1888, which
means he never saw the commercial success he had been seeking. After his death, a man named Asa
Griggs Candler saved the business. In 1891, he became the sole owner of Coca–Cola. It was when
Candler took over that one of the most innovative marketing techniques was invented. He started
passing out coupons for a free Coke. The goal was for people to try the drink, like it, and buy it later
on. Candler also decided to spread the word of Coca–Cola by posting logos on calendars, posters,
notebooks and bookmarks to reach to a wider range of customers. It was one step in making Coca–
Cola a national brand. A controversial move on the part of Candler was to sell Coca–Cola syrup as a
patent medicine, claiming it would get rid of fatigue and headaches. The tax was on all medicines,
so Coca–Cola wanted to be sold only as a beverage. After a court battle, Coca–Cola was no longer
sold as a

The Coca Plant And The Physical Effects Of The Coca Plant
Coca is native to western South American is one of only four cultivated plants in the
Erthroxylacease family. The plant is grown in mass in the following six: countries Argentina,
Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru; however, it is illegal to cultivate the crop in these
countries. (Figure 1) The crop flourishes in warm climates and usually under the direction of a large
Drug Cartel. The coca plant has been a traditional stimulant similar to coffee in many Andean
cultures. (Stolberg, 2011) "The alkaloid content of coca leaves is relatively low, between 0.25% and
0.77%." (Juan C. Negrete, 1978). Since the coca plant has been around for thousands of years, it's
important to understand the history of the plant and how it has been used. With medical science
advancement it is also essential we understand and track the physical effects of the plant has on the
human body. Finally, we must take into account what the medical field is reporting with regard to
the Coca plant.
History of the Coca Plant
As archeologist study mummies remains they continue to find traces of coca leaves extract within
the bodies and have recorded as far back at 3000 years ago. "Coca was used for millennia by
indigenous people of the New World das a general stimulate as well as for medical and other varied
purposes." (Stolberg, 2011) Archeologist have found evidence that coca was used in the Andean
region of South America and some parts of Central America. The key evidence they are relying on
are small ceramic lime containers which have traces of coca leaves and follow wall stories showing
what looks like chewing of the leaves. Samples of these bowls have been excavated and are on
display in many museums.
Coca chewing may originally have been limited to the eastern Andes before its introduction to the
Inca. (Stolberg, 2011) During the Inca rule, it was known that coca was for the elite such as the
priest. One more example of social status throughout history and separation of "classes".
Fast forward to the early European explores and the New World era. As we have journals and diaries
to rely on the historical account of what happened during this time; Italian explorers provide
accounts of chewing of coca leaves in Venezuela back

Coca Plant Research Paper
The social and health implications of the coca plant production are widely known, however, its
impact on the environment are insufficiently acknowledged by many. This essay will explore the
environmental implications of cocaine production and the eradication process that takes place in the
Andean/Amazonian regions, particularly in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, where most of the world's
cocaine supply originate1.
Historically, coca leaves were chewed by the Andean people as a mild stimulant1. Cocaine is a
naturally occurring alkaloid1, derived from coca plant (Erythroxylum coca). Just like any other
stimulants, cocaine has a powerful effect on the central nervous system 1 causing sensations of
euphoria2 and is highly addictive. The money garnered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1987, Colombia only grew 10% of the global coca production (220 km2); in 2000 this percentage
increased to 74% (1633 km2)7. This boom in the cocaine production industry remarkably coincided
with the deforestation acceleration rate in the country7, suggesting that there must be a correlation
between the boom in the cocaine market, coca cultivation and deforestation. Figure 3 shows a result
from one such study conducted between 2002 to 2007 in Colombia.
Land needs to be cleared in the cultivation area to make way to sow coca plants9. Although it only
plays a minor role in deforestation, the fact that the illicit nature of the cultivation forces coca
growers to move to isolated, untouched areas harm the biodiversity and the animals who inhabit in
the area that would otherwise be left

The Success Of Coca Cola
The iconic Coca Cola soft drink has been a consumer favorite since 1886, thanks to its creator Dr.
John Pemberton. For 129 years, Coca Cola has flourished into a success in the business world. It is
the largest beverage company, today, sold in over 200 countries today. There are several reasons for
Coca Cola's success in the business world.
Rather than only working in the here and now, the company of Coca Cola envisions successful
prospects. Besides providing quality drinks to people, the company strives for greatness through
certain actions and values in hopes of benefiting themselves and consumers. The company
emphasizes friendliness with one of its main objective, which is to inspire happiness among people.
The other objectives include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to Coca Cola's president, Robert Woodruff in the 1920s, the way the iconic drink would be
served changed drastically: originally only served from a soda fountain, the soft drink is now
conveniently purchased in a bottle. The transformation of the bottle's shape and material is the result
of technological advances and the result of adapting to convenience and consumer interests.
Advertisements in the form of calendars, television commercials, posters, and jingles are examples
of great public relations. In need of an increase in product demand during the winter of the 1920s,
the company created the iconic photo of Santa Claus and the polar bear; like a jingle, when one sees
these advertisements, he or she will immediately associate it with Coca Cola beverages.
Sponsorships are another large public relations program. For 87 years, Coca Cola has been a large
sponsor for the Olympics as well as many sporting events such as NASCAR, FIFA, NBA, among
others. Environmental protection is another factor for the company's success. Initiative towards
saving our environment is appealing to a large population of the world, which is why Coca Cola has
taken action in sustainability. By focusing on conserving water, using energy efficient technology,
helping and working alongside farmers, as well as recycling and recovering recyclable materials,
Coca Cola can better serve their consumers by bettering their

Coca Sustainability

  • 1. Coca Sustainability Review of the 2014/15 Coca Cola Sustainability Report Part 1 – Report Analysis 1. Coca Cola's sustainability strategy is aligned rather than being just an afterthought. That is, the sustainability strategy is effectively aligned with the company's strategic objective. As Coca Cola endeavors to refresh the world, the company and its local bottling partners strive at creating new value for their customers. The management is also committed not only on effectively implementing the strategy, but also keeping it aligned with the general strategic objective (Coca Cola, 2015). 2. The company's sustainability report follows Triple Bottom Line (TBL) and the goals also reflect the TBL. The TBL is a framework that integrates three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the report follows other international frameworks. For instance, the report follows the United Nations Global Compact LEAD Program and it also satisfies the United Nations Global Compact Communication on Progress standards. 5. Apart from internal verification, the report is also verified by third parties. For instance, Coca Cola permitted their independent accountants, Ernst & Young LLP to conduct review–level assurance on sustainability indicators associated with health living programs, Plant Bottle packaging, greenhouse gas emissions, No or Low–calorie beverages, and front–of–pack labeling, among others (Coca Cola, 2015). Other third parties also offered more external assurance of non– financial metrics. 6. Additionally, the report encompasses bad news, good news, challenges and opportunities. As far as good news is concerned, the report explains the company's success in their top three sustainability priorities including support of well–being, water, and women. In terms of bad news, the report informs that the company is not contended with not only their sustainability progress, but also the milestones they have accomplished (Coca Cola, 2015). The report also informs that the company faces critical challenges when sourcing more sustainable products especially HFC–free coolers. The company also faces challenges ... The Marketing Of The Coca Cola The main purpose of advertising is to inform people about products offered by an organization, persuade people to buy the product by using pathos, ethos, logos, or other techniques. The organization hopes that people will remember them and repeat the purchase. In fact, the most recognizable woman in the print ad is Mary Poppins. The style gives off an odd feeling, and brings out nostalgia. There are men in the ad as well. They are looking at the women with pure adoration and love. Coca Cola bottles are located everywhere in the ad, in forms of bottles, cups, and even in boxes. With this Coke ad, Coca Cola chose to use a colorful scheme to appeal to the audience's fun and free–spirited side, and a line saying "live on the coke side of life." By using pathos, ethos, and logos, Coca Cola were able to construct a successful ad. For instance, in the Coke ad the first thing consumers will notice are the colors and how they are incorporated in the image. The background is red with a regular, classic, Coke bottle. The ad also includes other bright colors with a few neutral colors all exploding out of a Coke bottle. In the center of the ad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New formulations and brand extensions will help consumers that are no longer purchasing the brand to try new flavors or brand products, have a positive experience, and then hopefully return to the purchasing of previous products also (Bloomberg Businessweek, 2005). The innovation strategy should strengthen the brand. (Figure 1) The crop flourishes in warm climates and usually under the direction of a large Drug Cartel. The coca plant has been a traditional stimulant similar to coffee in many Andean cultures. (Stolberg, 2011) "The alkaloid content of coca leaves is relatively low, between 0.25% and 0.77%." (Juan C. Negrete, 1978). Since the coca plant has been around for thousands of years, it's important to understand the history of the plant and how it has been used. With medical science advancement it is also essential we understand and track the physical effects of the plant has on the human body. Finally, we must take into account what the medical field is reporting with regard to the Coca plant. History of the Coca Plant As archeologist study mummies remains they continue to find traces of coca leaves extract within the bodies and have recorded as far back at 3000 years ago. "Coca was used for millennia by indigenous people of the New World das a general stimulate as well as for medical and other varied purposes." (Stolberg, 2011) Archeologist have found evidence that coca was used in the Andean region of South America and some parts of Central America. The key evidence they are relying on are small ceramic lime containers which have traces of coca leaves and follow wall stories showing what looks like chewing of the leaves. Samples of these bowls have been excavated and are on display in many museums. Coca chewing may originally have been limited to the eastern Andes before its introduction to the Inca. (Stolberg, 2011) During the Inca rule, it was known that coca was for the elite such as the priest. One more example of social status throughout history and separation of "classes". Fast forward to the early European explores and the New World era. As we have journals and diaries to rely on the historical account of what happened during this time; Italian explorers provide accounts of chewing of coca leaves in Venezuela back ... • 78. Coca Plant Research Paper The social and health implications of the coca plant production are widely known, however, its impact on the environment are insufficiently acknowledged by many. This essay will explore the environmental implications of cocaine production and the eradication process that takes place in the Andean/Amazonian regions, particularly in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, where most of the world's cocaine supply originate1. Historically, coca leaves were chewed by the Andean people as a mild stimulant1. Cocaine is a naturally occurring alkaloid1, derived from coca plant (Erythroxylum coca). Just like any other stimulants, cocaine has a powerful effect on the central nervous system 1 causing sensations of euphoria2 and is highly addictive. The money garnered ... This boom in the cocaine production industry remarkably coincided with the deforestation acceleration rate in the country7, suggesting that there must be a correlation between the boom in the cocaine market, coca cultivation and deforestation. Figure 3 shows a result from one such study conducted between 2002 to 2007 in Colombia. Land needs to be cleared in the cultivation area to make way to sow coca plants9. Although it only plays a minor role in deforestation, the fact that the illicit nature of the cultivation forces coca growers to move to isolated, untouched areas harm the biodiversity and the animals who inhabit in the area that would otherwise be left ... Thanks to Coca Cola's president, Robert Woodruff in the 1920s, the way the iconic drink would be served changed drastically: originally only served from a soda fountain, the soft drink is now conveniently purchased in a bottle. The transformation of the bottle's shape and material is the result of technological advances and the result of adapting to convenience and consumer interests. Advertisements in the form of calendars, television commercials, posters, and jingles are examples of great public relations. In need of an increase in product demand during the winter of the 1920s, the company created the iconic photo of Santa Claus and the polar bear; like a jingle, when one sees these advertisements, he or she will immediately associate it with Coca Cola beverages. Sponsorships are another large public relations program. For 87 years, Coca Cola has been a large sponsor for the Olympics as well as many sporting events such as NASCAR, FIFA, NBA, among others.
