Essay Current Topics
Crafting an essay on the topic "Essay Current Topics" proves to be a challenging endeavor, akin
to navigating a vast and dynamic landscape where the terrain is ever-shifting. The difficulty
arises not only from the inherent complexity of the subject matter but also from the constant
evolution of current events, making it a task that demands both timeliness and depth of insight.
One of the primary challenges lies in the need for up-to-date information. Current topics are, by
nature, fluid and rapidly changing, demanding constant vigilance to stay abreast of the latest
developments. This necessitates extensive research, sifting through a deluge of information to
extract pertinent details that add substance to the essay.
Moreover, the dynamic nature of contemporary issues poses a challenge in terms of maintaining
relevance. What might be a burning topic today may lose its significance tomorrow, rendering
the essay obsolete. Striking a balance between timeliness and enduring relevance requires finesse,
as the writer must gauge the staying power of a subject and frame arguments that transcend the
fleeting nature of headlines.
Additionally, the diversity of current topics demands a multifaceted approach. A writer must be
equipped to delve into political, social, economic, and technological realms, among others. This
breadth of coverage requires not only broad knowledge but also the ability to synthesize
information from various disciplines and present a cohesive narrative.
Furthermore, the essayist must navigate the delicate balance between objectivity and personal
perspective. Current topics often elicit strong opinions, and crafting an essay involves presenting
a nuanced viewpoint while respecting diverse perspectives. Striking this balance requires a keen
understanding of the subject matter, as well as the ability to articulate ideas with clarity and
precision.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Essay Current Topics" demands a unique set of skills,
including staying abreast of the latest developments, maintaining relevance, addressing
multifaceted issues, and navigating the delicate balance between objectivity and personal
perspective. It is an intricate dance that challenges the writer to synthesize information, craft a
compelling narrative, and contribute meaningfully to ongoing conversations. For those seeking
assistance in tackling such intricate tasks, a variety of resources are available, including platforms
like HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and much more can be ordered to meet the demands
of this complex undertaking.

The project is designed to minimize penalty for industrial units by using automatic
power factor correction unit with the help of zig bee. Power factor is defined as the
ratio of real power to apparent power. This definition is often mathematically
represented as KW/KVA, where the numerator is the active (real) power and the
denominator is the (active + reactive) or apparent power. Reactive power is the non
working power generated by the magnetic and inductive loads, to generate magnetic
flux. The increase in reactive power increases the apparent power, so the power
factor also decreases. Having low power factor, the industry needs
The Movie Chicago
There has been a steady decline in musicals being produced, since the 1970 s. The
movie Chicago has helped to bring the genre of musicals back into public favor.
With the help of the movie, and articles that have been written about the return of
the musical, I will convey how this has come to be. I have looked at the history of
this genre to see how it has gone down in popularity, and how it has come back.
Music has been around for as long as anyone can remember. People have been
pairing music and dance for a long time too. While there have been stage productions
of musicals for a long time it was with the advent of the motion picture that the
musical film was born. With the coming of talking motion pictures, the musical film
genre emerged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are other acts before hers and we can assume there are more afterwards.
While her show is supposed to be a duo, she is actually alone. After claiming that
her sister is she isn t herself tonight, (Marshall, Chicago ) Kelly takes to the stage
by herself to sing All That Jazz . In the Book The Hollywood Film Musical Grant
talks about All That Jazz saying it is, a postmodern pastiche of pop music . (p.?)
While Kelly is performing, Roxie is seen talking to a man (Fred Casley) about him
introducing her to a friend of his so that she can finally get on the stage. Her and
Fred then leave the club and head back to Roxie s apartment and are engaging in
sexual exchanges throughout the whole walk back and also in her apartment. They
also seem to have alcohol, which was banned due to prohibition at the time. During
this scene, there is crosscutting scenes between Roxie with Fred and Velma singing.
While both of these seem to be happening at the same time at the end of the musical
number Roxie states that it was a month ago that they heard Kelly sing, as that was
the night she had killed her husband and
My Mom Shehnaz Soni Is An Everyday Hero
People normally characterize heroes as someone with supernatural abilities like
superman, but a hero can be anyone. A hero can be an average person doing
something good like picking up someone s wallet when you have dropped it.
Another example would be someone who fights crime and fights fire. These
everyday unsung heroes generally do these things because they have good
intentions, even if it is for little reward or fame. I have a close familymember who
bears the qualities needed to be an everyday unsung hero. My Mom Shehnaz Soni
is an everyday, unsung hero because she has given me and my younger brothers love
and care for our basic needs and she has also persevered in overcoming two divorces.
Shehnaz Soni is petite and beautiful; she is about 5 feet and 3 inches and has a
smile that offers love and compassion. She is the light at the end of the tunnel and
offers kindness and helps her family and friends. She comes from a middle class
family from Karachi, Pakistan; her parents maintained the family because her dad
was a photographer and loved taking pictures, and he also managed shops. Although
both parents were raised in Karachi, her dad was born in India before the
independence from Pakistan. He eventually moved to Karachi after the independence.
When he was older he eventually met my grandmother and had an arranged marriage.
Together they had three children whom they raised. Today, my grandparents are still
living in Karachi with my uncle who takes care of them. Their
Lena The Black Widow Character Analysis
Lena the Black Widow Despite being Joe s wife, Lena selfishly recognizes the
value of being with Spunk, and is thankful for Joe s death. Lena believes Joe is
inadequate, and elopes with Spunk because he can provide for her. Lena s life
with Joe is not lavish. He ain t never had nothin nor wanted nothin , and Lena finds
Joe s lack of both wealth and ambition intolerable (109). She remarks that the house
they live in was given to her by her father. Joe is incapable of providing a house for
her. Joe s ability to support Lena directly contrasts that of Spunk, who asserts that
Lena doesn t need to look to nobody for a crumb of bread, or a stitch of close or a
shingle to go over [her] head, except him (107). Spunk insists that he alone can

She undoubtedly adores Spunk, and is overwhelmed by his ability to satisfy her needs.
Consequently, Lena boldly displays her relationship with Spunk, publicly disgracing
her marriage, and is relieved when Joe dies. The first appearance of Lena features
her clinging lovingly to [Spunk s] arm, as the couple walks towards the woods.
Already the reader is presented with Lena s affection for Spunk (Hurston 105). The
saloon patrons gawk at how easily Spunk parades around Lena. They note that he
struts round wid another man s wife, emphasizing his confidence in his relationship
with Lena (105). For a married woman to flaunt her extramarital affair in the middle
of town she must have no remorse for the repercussions faced by her husband.
Lena s apathy towards Joe is highlighted by her numerous rendezvous with Spunk
throughout the week, undeterred by the visible suffering in Joe s eyes, his face,
and even the dejected slump of his shoulders (106). Clearly, Lena must care more
deeply for Spunk than she does for Joe. Lena showcases her lack of affection for
Joe when he is arguing with Spunk over her. Joe asks Lena for confirmation that she
is his wife, but she only looked at him real disgusted, and
Desertion In Frankenstein
The suggestions based off of Mary Shelley s experience as a woman are indeed a
result of her life. However, that doesn t mean her work was the story of her life but
a mere indication of the judgement that occurred in society during her era. The
depiction of moral ethical corruption that can take place in a moment as a
personification of desertion or isolation, both are found in Mary s life and within her
tale of Frankenstein. During the time when Mary Shelley began to write her novel,
women were perceived as being confined to the traditional genderroles. There were
moments in Mary s life where she found herself isolated or deserted from like
minded intellectuals, based solely on the stigmatized idea of her being a woman. Due

creation of Frankenstein became one of the world s well known classic tales and

Shelley herself felt deeply . Shelley admitted the monster was a collection of ideas;
however it was her detailed description and portrayal of the character Frankenstein

Kwame Nkrumah s Impact On The Contribution Of The...
Throughout human history, there have been multiples leaders that have sought to
implement change and bring prosperity to their people and definitely, Kwame
Nkrumah is one of them. Indeed, Nkrumah is one of the leading figures in the fight
against colonialism not only in Ghana, his country, but also in the continent of Africa
itself, and across the world. He sought to challenge the colonial powers and their
system of global capitalism by implementing the socialist route once he achieved the
independence of Ghana from the British Empire in 1957. Although, Nkrumah was
not successful in his plan and after nine years as President of Ghana, he was
removed from power, he still played a major role on the development of the Pan
Africanismmovement and its huge impact in different parts of the world. To recall,
Pan Africanism is the principle of the political union of all indigenous inhabitants of
Africa. In other words, this movement encouraged the African people all over the
globe to unite as one and fight for their independence and rights to not be colonized
and exploited anymore. From his early years of life, Nkrumah experienced first hand
the exploitation and suffering of the African people. While he was attending the
Lincoln University and later, University of Pennsylvania, he had the opportunity to
get involved in political organizations that would help his African brothers not only
in the United States, but also back in Africa. For this reason, he joined a group of

A Report On Stockholm Syndrome
Abstract
According to the United States Department of Justice reports, each year nearly
800,000 children are claimed to be missing. This shows that each day, over 2,000
children are reported missing. Kidnappings occur for a variety of reasons, and at the
hands of many different people ( Children Exploitation and Obscenity Section , n.d.).
For example, the United States Department of Justice claims that 203,000 children
are kidnapped by family members annually, while 58,200 are abducted by individuals
outside of the family annually ( Children Exploitation and Obscenity Section , n.d.).
Kidnappings occur more frequently than the public realizes. The physical and
psychological affects being kidnapped has on the victim varies for each individual.
One reaction to hostile kidnappings or hostage situations is the development of
Stockholm syndrome. According to the FBI law enforcement bulletin, Understanding
Stockholm Syndrome by De Fabrique, Romano, Vecchi, and Van Hasselt (2007),
nearly 27% of kidnapping victims display signs of Stockholm syndrome.
Kidnapping Victims and Stockholm Syndrome
What is Stockholm Syndrome Stockholm syndrome is a psychological phenomenon
in which the victim identifies with their captor (Namnyak, Tufton, Szekely, Toal,
Worboys, Sampson, 2008). This may be apparent through sympathy, positive feelings
toward their captor, and some even defend their kidnapper (Namnyak, et. al., 2008).
The syndrome arises from the stress of the fear when the

trigger her asthma. Her diagnosis is severe since she has been hospitalised many
times and has been prescribed long term oral steroids which causes weight gain.
Imelda has a prevented inhaler which she is supposed to take twice a day and a
blue inhaler which she should take when she is symptomatic for relief. Imelda is a

Defence mechanisms are mental processes which are automatically triggered
when anxiety occurs. They are unconscious strategies which are used by
individuals to protect themselves from stress or guilt. (O Brien, 2008) The
defence mechanism, which is evident in this case study is denial. Ac cording to
Freud, denial is refusing to accept reality. It involves a denial from an occurring
event or a previous event which caused pain but refuses to acknowledge it. This is
the most primitive defence and plays an im portant role in the grieving process.
From my reading of the case study, it is evident that Imelda is in denial as Imelda
refuses to take her oral steroids because it makes her gain weight. She also hasn t
refilled her prescription within the last month as her concerned mother had checked
with the phar macy. Sigmund Freud had also proposed five psychosexual stages. He
had sug gested that we pass in childhood and felt that children needed to explore dif
ferent parts of their body. The five psychosexual stages were 1. Oral Stage ( 0 1
years) 2. Anal Stage (1 3 years ) 3. Phallic Stage ( 6 12 years) and lastly 4. Genital

The strength of Harley Davidson s brand and dominant market position give the firm
a wide moat, in our opinion. However, weaker consumer spending and tight credit
markets are presenting the firm with some significant near term challenges. In

its long term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The firm has already cut production in an attempt to trim costs in line with faling
demand. in addition, just over half of Harley s motorcycle revenues are derived from
retail sales made on credit. We think that the lack of available funds on the wholesale
markets and the shrinking of the number of qualifying customers will make it
difficult for the company s financial services division to continue to support retail
sales by providing credit to customers.
Harley must address some long term challenges. The firm has been focused on a
narrow demographic group (around 89% of customers are male) and the median age
of Harley s customers has been on a long term upward trend.
We believe that the firm must find ways to broaden the appeal of its brand without
alienating its core customer base. Harley has grown in recent years in the
international market , and revenues generated abroad have risen to 25% of total
revenues in 2007 from 19% in 2004. Although the firm has recently introduced a
performance motorcycle for the European market, I think that it may find it difficult
to deliver customized products for overseas markets while supporting its brand
franchise.
Risk
Harley s revenues could be severely hurt by a further weakening of the global
economy and increased reductions in consumer spending on high ticket discretionary

Guido As A True Hero In The Film Life Is Beautiful
The film Life is Beautiful, tells the powerful story of a Jewish man who uses his
humorous personality to protect his son in a concentration camp. The use of comedy
to
express the evils of fascism and Nazi Germany is effective in conveying the belief that
beauty and light can be found even in the most horrible of places. Guido, the movie s
protagonist, uses his wit and optimistic character to save his family. This movie is
truly
complex as it is a lighthearted comedy, while at the same time a dark drama.
Guido is considered to be a true hero in the film. Through the horrors that he and
his family faced, Guido managed to keep a positive outlook on life itself. Guido s

As the film progresses, the topic of human dignity becomes key to the story.
Guido, Joshua, and the rest of the Jewish community presented in the film were
treated
with disrespect and injustice. Every person has worth and value that cannot be lost or
taken away. Although Guido was oppressed because of his religion, his human dignity
could not be taken from him. Guido knew very well that he was not to blame for the
brutality that he and his family faced. Guido knew that it was wrong for the fascists to
decide when and how the Jewish population would die. Thus, Guido did not succumb
to
the forces that oppressed him. Instead he fought for his life and that of his family, as
Guido knew that it was not worth surrendering himself and forgetting to live his life.
Despite having been a victim of the disaster, which was the Holocaust, Guido
proved himself to be a strong character. Rather than giving in to the oppressive forces
that seemed to dominate the entire population, Guido fought for what he believed in.
Guido took risks in order to make the time he and his family had left
Narrative Essay About Lady Gaga
I am going to share an incredible, breathtaking day in my life.
Earlier this year I attended Lady Gaga s sold out show, The Joanne World Tour in
Edmonton on August 3rd It was her second show after it kicked off in Vancouver.
My friend Kylie and I woke up at 4:45am to get ready. We showered, put on makeup
and got our outfits ready. My outfit was made a week prior to the show.
A leather jacket hot glued with diamonds, jewels and rhinestones with a red cross
painted in the middle on the back a reference to her song Judas . The words Lady
Gaga were glitter painted on the top and bottom, and under it I wore a Lady Gaga
shirt, the rest of the outfit, glitter leggings and the boots bedazzled with rhinestones.
We were ready by 6am, we then drove to the Rogers Centre arena. When we arrived
at the arena, we were lost and did not know how to get into the building, we
decided to message other fans who were already inside on Instagram, they replied
right away and said Go to the back and come up to the third floor, by ticket sales by
the time we found out where to go it was about 7:30 am. We went up to the third
floor and three other people were waiting for General Admission, the closest seats
possible, the downside is standing up and waiting for three hours. There were two
in early entry and one plus Kylie and I in regular entry. We sat in line waiting, as
the hours went by, more and more people started showing up, while we were
waiting, me and the girl who sat beside us would go
The Bean Trees Essay
Author use many symbolism in the book The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver.
She uses symbolism because it makes it easier for readers to understand the deeper
meaning or feeling of the character or the events that are happening. For example,
author uses the symbolism of bean trees as transformation and Ismene as the
abandoned children to show the deeper meaning of them. Turtle was staring up at
the wisteria flowers. Beans, she said, pointing... We looked where she was
pointing. Some of the wisteria flowers had gone to seed, and all these wonderful
long green pods hung down from the branches. They looked as much like beans as
anything you d ever care to eat. (143 144). This quote is important because it s the

Also Kingsolver uses Ismene to show the corruption of the government. Our
mouths opened and shut and we froze where we sat. I suppose we could have
honked and waved and it wouldn t have raised any more pandemonium than this
poor mother already had to deal with but instead we held perfectly still. Even
Turtle, after a long minute or two the quail got her family herded off the road into
some scraggly bushes (96). The birds are significant symbolism in this book. They
often appear in the book to symbolize Turtle; Kingsolver did this to show Turtle is a
strong survival instinct child. First, when Taylor took Turtle to doctor and
discovered that she has been abused and raped. As she makes this discovery, she
sees a bird nest on a cactus. This shows that Turtle, in spite of her surroundings she
keep persists. Also, when Turtle met the robber, a sparrow got caught in Lou Ann s
house, the bird getting scared shows the Turtle s confusion and fright. But sparrow
survives and leaves the house; this shows that even though Turtle is going through
confusion she will survive. Finally, the quote shows the moment when Lou Ann and
Taylor found a family of birds on the road. This quote symbolizes how Turtle is
satisfied with her small family, feel safe, and she is happy. In conclusion, Kingsolver
uses the symbolism to show the deeper feeling or meaning of each character, or the
Docklands Case Study
My predictions for the Docklands region was there will be retail stores, restaurants
and there to be residential areas. The only parts of my predictions that were correct,
were the residential areas having many apartment complexes and there being a wide
range of restaurants in the area. Although the retail was not the amount I thought
there was going to be, even during the surveys we conducted 9 residents mentioned
that the retail amenities were poor. For some residents the Docklands region has
been created as a liveable and sustainable residential precinct that has all of the
amenities needed to survive. However, during our data collections, for some of the
residents were not happy with the region as for there is a insufficiency in services...

In the Docklands precinct there is a lesser value of amenities to accommodate the
growing population. During our surveys, we found most of the residents were
happy with the service of public transport in the region, Southern Cross Station
which a easy 1km distance from the heart of Docklands and they are well served
with tram/bus routes. They were also happy with the accommodation that is in the
area. Yet the downfalls of Docklands are the essential amenities of retail, public
services and leisure activities. For Docklands to be a place where there is
sustainability, for it not fail as a new region there needs to be more of these
amenities. There is a need for more services such as Doctors and Specialists, these
services are an essential for the precinct to be a liveable
Analysis Of Combahee River Collective
Combahee River Collective in their article Combahee River Collective Statement
examines the relationship between racism, heterosexism, economics, and racism. The
group of black feminists, Combahee River Collective, strived to firmly and clearly
establish their position when it came to politics of feminism, and therefore separated
from the male counterparts and white women (Thomas). In the statement, the
activists dwell on four major topics, including the dawn of modern Black feminism,
the domain of politics, short history and the issues and practices of the group. This
paper gives a summary of Combahee River Collective Statement and reviews some
of its key points.

The group embraced solidarity with such unions provided that their needs not just as
socialists but the Black feminists were met.
The Combahee River Collective also stresses on the relationship with their
subjugation and how it molded their identities. It is through the use of the identity
politics, especially their atypical experience, that they pursued the immediate freedom
for the Black women. Even though the group called for the liberation of the women
of color, the activists did not assume an exclusive standpoint, but instead a humble
ground for their group. The collective did not want pedestals, Queenwood and
lagging ten steps behind but rather to be accepted as human, just sensibly as humans
( The Combahee River Collective ). The group s primary focus was on the liberation
of the Black women, something they expressed in the statement black women are
inherently valuable.
The group voiced its concerns in a positive, yet proud, way. It celebrated one another
s personal experiences in a non elitist manner. The members of the group endeavored
to show people around the world that their identity considerations and associations do
not score their experience of repression. They emphasized that the oppression they
underwent is no more than an experience or even more significant compared to the
one of any sideline

Sparta, not Athens, won the war against Persia Essay
The Greek victory against Persia was largely due to efforts of mainly Athens but also
Sparta as well. Athens was responsible for the major turning points of the Persian
invasions, while Sparta was responsible for the deciding battle. Miltiades, with his
skilful battle strategies, defeated the Persians during their second invasion at
Marathon, which gave Athens a confidence boost on their military. During the third
invasion, when the Athenians were evacuated to Salamis, Themistocles had devised a
plan to trick the Persians which had resulted in Persian army without a supply line.
Sparta?s importance had revealed during their sacrifice at Thermopylae and at
Plataea, where they provided the most effective part of the army.

Themistocles was aware that the only way to defeat the Persians was to cut of their
naval power, so he devised a plan. He sent a slave to the Persians with a message
that they were escaping, and the Persians sent ships to meet there escapees. The
Athenian ships were prepared to face them. Their specialty in sea battles, along with
the narrowness and swirls of the sea gave the Athenians an advantage. This strategy is
what ultimately brought victory to the Greeks, as it left the Persians without a supply
line and weakened their forces. The two events, the battle at Marathon and the battle
at Salamis, showed that Athens was a great contributor to the war, both land and sea.
Sparta was also a contributor to the defeat of the Persians. They were renowned for
their great military strength and discipline on land. This gave fear to everyone who
was facing the Spartans. In the battle at Marathon, the Persians had to attack soon,
knowing that if they didn?t, the superior Spartan warriors would arrive. This fear
forced the Persians to hurry their operations, which was why the cavalry was sent off
by ships to attack Athens and allowed the Athenians to win at Marathon. The battle at
Thermopylae was also another contribution to the war. The Spartans, along with the
other Greeks were able to hold off the Persians, but when the enemy found a secret
passage around the mountain, many of the Greeks retreated, except for the
Teaching And Mentoring Experience For Undergraduate
Students
Teaching and Mentoring Experience
Teaching has been a fundamental component of my academic training. I have been
actively involved in teaching, tutoring, and mentoring high school and undergraduate
research students throughout my doctoral and postdoctoral work at the City
University of New York (CUNY). I taught General Chemistry(I II) laboratory courses
and recitation sections at CUNY for four years. I volunteered as a physical chemistry
tutor for undergraduate students from CUNY. At St. John s Collegeof Liberal Arts and
Sciences, my teaching assignment included a General Chemistry Laboratory course
that also involved a synergistic approach to conducting several laboratory sessions
guided simultaneously by two instructors.
Along with Dr. Ruth Stark and her graduate students at City College, I designed a
curriculum for a biophysics foundation course ( Touring the tomato: A suite of
chemistry laboratory experiments ) geared for undergraduate and high school
students seeking research experience through CUNY s College Now program. The
eight module course introduces a panel of analytical techniques for studying the
structural properties of biopolymers obtained from an inexpensive source such as the
tomato fruit at increasingly detailed molecular levels. In its final phase, students
design independent research projects related to structural investigations of various
biomaterials obtained from fruits and vegetables. We tested our new curriculum by

The Importance Of Hot Wing Festivals
Have you ever to a celebration that was just to for hot wings? If not you do not

United States but the South. The south is full of tradition and southern pride. The
south has given the world so many contributions that have made an impact on what
the world is today. The south is full of attractions, wonderful food, and well known
famous people. I could never imagine myself being anywhere else. The south is
home for amazing attractions. Of all the attractions my favorite attractions of the
south would be Beale Street. Located in Memphis TN, Beale Street is a soul filled
place full of amazing bands, diverse restaurants, and novelty shops filled with
souvenirs that fascinate your imagination. Also Beale Street has lots of local
attractions such as flippers, mime s, dancers such as majorette or street dance also

A Great British Author William Shakespeare was one of the greatest poets,
playwright, and actor. He composed numerous plays, sonnets, and poems.
Shakespeare was born in Stratford. His precise birthday is not known, but it is
thought to be April 23, because according to church records, he was baptized on
April 26, 1564. During this time babies were typically baptized when they were 3
days old. Shakespeare s father was John Shakespeare, who was a glove maker and
a tradesman. His mother was Mary Arden. Shakespeare was married to Anne
Hathaway on November 1582. Shakespeare was 18 at the time of the wedding and
Anne was 26. Their first child, Susanna was born 6 months after the wedding in
1583. In 1585 they had fraternal twins, A son, Hamnet and a daughter named Judith.
Hamnet passed away when he was 11 years old, possibly from bubonic plague. Many
believe that the play Hamletwas about Hamnet Shakespeares son. After 3 years of
marriage, Shakespeare moved to London. His wife Anne and children stayed behind
in Stratford. One of my favorite Shakespeare plays is Hamlet. The story develops
with the late King Hamlet appearing to his child, requesting retaliation on his sibling,
the King Claudius, which is an occasion prone to irritate the Crown Prince. Over the
span of the show, Hamlet perseveres through numerous trials of his will and cognise
compelling him to reinforce his feelings and the strategies by which he will execute
them. Yet, through it

data mining techniques used separately or together in many business applications.
Most commercial data mining software tools provide these two techniques but few
of them satisfy business needs. There are many criteria and factors to choose the

In this way, decision trees provide accuracy and explanatory models where the
decision tree model is able to explain the reason of certain decisions using these
decision rules. Decision trees could be used in classification applications that
target discrete value outcomes by classifying unclassified data based on a pre
classified dataset, for example, classifying credit card applicants into three classes
of risk, which are low, medium or high. Also, decision trees could be used in
estimation applications that have continuous outcomes by estimating value based on
pre classified datasets, and in this case the tree is called a regression tree, for
example, estimating household income. Moreover, decision trees could be used in
prediction applications that have discrete or continuous outcomes by predicting
future value same as classification or estimation, for example, predicting credit card
loan as good or bad. 2.1 Decision Tree Models
Decision tree models are explanatory models, which are English rules so they are
easy to evaluate and understand by people. The decision tree model is considered
as a chain of rules that classify records in different bins or classes called nodes [1].
Based on the model s algorithm, every node may have two or more children or have
no child, which is called in this case leaf node [1]. Building decision tree models
requires partitioning the pre classified dataset into three parts,

obvious that, in reality, it only holds true because of the living conditions for them.
Perhaps the main reason for the probation violation Jose committed after being

Considering its popularity among students, Facebook high school version was
launched in September, 2005. Its members are multiplying greatly with each day
passing i.e. Facebook had 100million users on Aug. 26, 2008 while this number
increased to 500million on Jul. 21, 2010 and growth rate was 153% during the last
year (blog.Facebook.com). Social networking sites brought many positive
implications to human life. The idea of social globe or global village has been
translated into reality through these sites connecting millions of people from all
around the world. Simultaneous communication of many people even at distant
places promotes the creation of social capital fetching personal, professional and
social benefits not only to the users of these sites but to the society as a whole. But
every technological revolution brings some dilemmas and darker issues along as
well. Likewise, these increasing links and networks online are setting back the real
values of life especially students are accepting some adverse impacts from using
these sites as they form the major chunk of SNSs users. An ever increasing growth
rate of SNSs not only calls for the parental and teacher monitoring of student users but
also attracting the focus of academicians and researchers towards this phenomenon.
In September, 2005, out of total adult internet users (18 29 years) 16% were those
who were using any social networking site and this percentage increased to 86% on
The Nazi Of The Third Reich And The Notorious Nazi Party
The empire of the Third Reich and the notorious Nazi Party will forever go down
in history as one of the most brutal and evil government organizations of the 20th
century. Inspired by the ideologies of ethnic cleansing and how Germans should be
the purest of all races, these ideas became rampant all across the country, and many
citizens believed that this horrible wrongness could be justified, it would be for the
greater good of the true Aryan people. The Nazis sent millions of innocent minorities
to their deaths because they were seen as unequal and life unworthy of life However,

These ideas were born into a time when the very concepts of what race was and
how we differed as human beings was just starting to be explored. For centuries
people had lived in an age of ignorance, but that time was coming to pass. The age
of religious hysteria of the Great Awakening was slowly fading, while the time of
science and engineering was developing. People knew very little about the world
around them, and wanted to become educated to the theories of science. People
knew that different races existed, but wanted to know why. God had indeed created
them differently, but for what purpose? This question and more sparked society s
curiosity into the new topics of race and origins. Scientists were very intrigued about
the development of the human and devoted many years of study. One of the most
famous researchers was naturalist Charles Darwin, who wrote The Descent of Man
in 1871. Darwin compared man to animals, and that in order to produce healthy
offspring, the fittest could only survive to pass on the desired traits. With savages, the
weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a
vigorous state of health. Darwin also agreed that races were indeed different species
of the human race. Races had ...many differences in structure and constitution. .
Scientists even compared blacks skulls to the ones of chimpanzees, noting the

Multicultural In Canada
Development of Canada as a multicultural nation
In the early half of the 20th century, Canada was not known to be socially accepting
of different races, nor were a lot of countries in the world at the time. However, after
World War II, everything started to change. People started to stand up to these unfair
rules, like the African Canadians and First Nations did. In other cases, like the
Vietnamese, they were gradually accepted into the Canadian Society. Throughout all
the ups and downs, protests and court rulings, we can look back and thank this era
for the diversity they created in Canada. The First Nations and the African Canadian
issues were significant, but the biggest clue that signified social change in Canada
was from the Vietnamese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the first nations had operated on Canadian soil long before any Europeans
settled on the land, they were still disregarded in terms of importance in the early
20th century: Aboriginal policy was made by government without consulting
Aboriginal people and with little public attention . This quote shows how First
Nations people had no voice when it came to decisions made about them, or
anything else in Canada for that matter. Aboriginals hated that they were being taken
advantage of, and they felt like they were just a pawn in the government s game of
chess. However, this started to change in the 1950s when public opinion became
more informed and disturbed about Aboriginal poverty and marginality . The
Aboriginals voice was finally heard in 1951, where the Indian Act was revised.
Aboriginal representatives looked to further revise the Act in 1968, but the
Government had other plans. In the Summer of 1969, the Government releases its
proposal of The White Paper , which was a plan to terminate the Indian Act, and
therefore Indian status, within the next 5 years. The Aboriginals refused to give in to
the government s wishes, and fought hard to convince them of a different approach.
The Government now saw for the first time of how the First Nations could put up a
good fight. The government, who was now faced with multiple tough decisions,
retreated on their harsh demands and
The Effects Of Age On Short Term Memory
The main goal of this study was to investigate the effects of age on short term
memory and to examine if familiar music or unfamiliar music produced more errors
in a word recall task. The results showed that participants scored similarly in both the
familiar music and the unfamiliar music condition. The lack of a significant
difference between the familiar music and the unfamiliar music condition signifies
that short term memory is equally impacted while listening to familiar music as it is
when listening unfamiliar music. These findings oppose my original prediction that
participants would recall more words in the familiar music condition than they would
in the unfamiliar familiar music condition by showing that there was no difference in
the average amount of words recalled between the music conditions. It is possible
that these results did not reach statistical significance because, while the participants
were familiar with the melody and lyrics of the song used in the familiar music
condition, they were unfamiliar with the specific version of the song. However, the
results replicated those of Alley and Greene (2008), which also showed that music
familiarity had no impact on short term music performance. The results also revealed
that the older participants and younger participants performed equally as well on the
recall task. Fascinatingly, this result suggests that age has little relevance on the
immediate recall of words. The implication of this finding is unexpected
The Impact Of Child Trafficking On Society
Abstract
This paper explores the impact of child trafficking in society. Poverty, gender
inequality, and globalization are some risk factors that contribute to child trafficking.
Even if governments, the United Nations and other important human rights
institutions strive to stop the propagation of this pandemic, it seems not enough.
What is more, the extent of the problem lies on how some societies look at minor
prostitution and the meaning of human life. In many poor countries sexual
exploitation of minors; particularly girls, is not considered a big deal when it helps to
support the family. Thereby, child trafficking continues and excels as to become one
of the most important and profitable businesses around the world. Terminologies such
as human trafficking and/ or domestic minor sex trafficking will direct the reader
toward a more deep understanding of the root of the problem. Human trafficking
deeply wounds society and people s life; however, some countries are little concerned
of the extent of this particular trade among minorities. Lack of policies and protection
from governments empower organized crime groups to continue the trafficking of
children around the world. Although the NASW (National Association of social
workers) code of ethics, social justice and dignity and worth of the person play an
important role when assisting survivors of child trafficking, social workers are called
to identify and find ways to meet survivors needs during the healing process.

Confucius branches out to expand his meanings of the three practices, but the main

The Two Identities of an American Icon
Early America was founded on the ideas of the early English colonies combined with
the beliefs of the indigenous people. Conflicts between native tribes and Europeans
characterized the colonial period and significantly impacted both the natives and the
Europeans. Political strife, in addition to economic and territorial tensions, was
commonplace among the indigenous and the colonists. Pocahontas, the princess of the
local Powhatan tribe, played a pivotal role in this early contact between European
and Indigenous American cultures. She often fostered peace between the English
colonists and the Powhatans by befriending the colonists and eventually marrying
one of them. As a result of her position as an emissary and sort of mediator between
the two groups and her marriage, Pocahontas began to assimilate herself to European
beliefs and ideologies by converting to Christianity. The changes that occurred as a
result of Pocahontas marriage to John Rolfe and her conversion to Christianity led to
profound cultural tensions and an ambiguous juxtaposition between her identities as a
Powhatan Princess versus the Christian wife of John Rolfe.
Established on May 14, 1607, the colony of Jamestown, located near present day
Williamsburg, Virginia, was the first permanent English settlement in North America.
In contrast, the Powhatan Empire led by Pocahontas father, Chief
Essay On Row By Row Data Layout
There are two obvious ways to map a two dimensional relational database table onto
a one dimensional storage interface: store the table row by row, or store the table
column by column. Historically, database system implementations and research have
focused on the row by row data layout, since it performs best on the most common
application for databasesystems: business transactional data processing. However,
there are a set of emerging applications for database systems for which the row by
row layout performs poorly. These applications are more analytical in nature, whose
goal is to read through the data to gain new insight and use it to drive decision
making and planning. In this dissertation, we study the problem of poor performance

Designers require to compromise between optimizing query performance and
maximizing query flexibility. Columnar databases use less disk space and are more
efficient in their I/O demands than records based data warehouses but force their
own compromise between optimizing for new record insertion versus data
selection and retrieval. The current paper gives an idea about advantages and
disadvantages of Row and Column Oriented Database concepts. The row by row
approach keeps information about an entity together. In the student example above,
it will store all information about the first student and then all information about
the second student and so on. The column by column approach keeps all attribute
information together: all of the student name will be stored consecutively and then
all of the student email, etc Both approaches are well designed and typically a
choice is made based on performance expectation if the expected workload is based
on entity (e.g., find a student, add a student etc) then row by row approach is
preferable because all information regarding a particular student is stored together
but if the expected workload tends to read per query only few attributed from many
records (e.g., a query that finds most common email address domain), then column
by column storage is preferable since irrelevant attributes for a particular query do
not have to be access. The row by row approach is writing

Ethical Dilemmas In Nonprofit Organizations
There are structure and terminology misunderstandings when defining a nonprofit
organization. While acting in the benefit of the public, a group cannot convene and
label themselves a nonprofit organization An organization must establish an
organizational structure, develop bylaws, obtain a legal charter, elect officers, or
exercise another process of demonstrating some degree of institutionalization. This
relates to an organization s ability to control its managementand operations activities.
While non profit organizations operate without shareholder and cannot distribute
profit to members, founders, or governing boards, organizations are able to
accumulate a surplus. This revenue must be retained by the organization to further its

Organizations derive legitimacy through structures, procedures, and performance.
With media attention on fraud and scandals within the nonprofit sector, there has
been increased scrutiny in monitoring the activities of nonprofit organization. Last
month, the San Antonio FBI office warned of con artiest posing as a nonprofit
organization aimed at reuniting unaccompanied children mostly from Central
America with their families for payment between $300 to several thousand.
Fraudulent attempts like this hurt the nonprofit sector across the board. It is
managemnet s duty to maintain an organization s legitimacy and accountability.
Without these two characteristics, a nonprofit organization can lose the public s trust,
thus impacting the ability to recruit volunteers, secure funding, and attract talented
personnel. Volunteers are critical to an organization s success by holding direct
service positions, serving on the board of directors, bringing expertise from various
sectors, and enhancing civic engagement. Work completed by volunteers affects the
extent of achieved program goals and objectives, affecting future funding and an
organization s ability to carry out their respective

Comparing Death in Do not go gentle into that good night...
Death in Do not go gentle into that good night and Death Be Not Proud
The poems Do not go gentle into that good night and Death Be Not Proud both deal
with the subject of death. These poems seem to have contradictory messages about
death, yet at the same time have similar attitudes toward it. Death Be Not Proud talks
about how death really has no power over people, while Do not go gentle into that
good night says that it is part of human nature to fight against death.
Both Do not go gentle into that good night and Death Be Not Proud see death as an
opponent; however, one sees it as an adversary that is already defeated while the
other sees it as an enemy that must be defeated. In Death Be Not Proud ... Show more

Even though they have different views of death they share the theme of defiance of
death.
Both Death Be Not Proud and Do not go gentle into that good night do not
necessarily see death as a negative thing. In looking at the title Do not go gentle
into that good night one notices that Thomas calls the night, presumably a
metaphor for death, good. He also says wise men at their end know dark is right
(4). This would suggest that he believes that death is a necessary occurrence. If
Thomas sees death as necessary, then why does he say Rage, rage against the dying
of the light (19)? The answer to this can be found in line 16 when he addresses his
father. Throughout the whole poem he names different types of men, then in the last
stanza he specifically names his father. I think that in this poem Thomas is trying to
express that even though he knows that death is natural he doesn t want his father to
die. This creates a sort of conflict within the poem where Thomas knows that
eventually death will come for everyone, but he wants to put it off as long as
possible in the case of his father.
Donne s view of death is that it is an insignificant thing that has no power over
people. By saying One short sleep past, we wake eternally (13), he illustrates that he
believes that there is some sort of afterlife. In fact, he says that the time that death has

Gustave Flaubert Writing Style
The 1800 s was a century of change. Medicine was advancing, the effects of the
Enlightenment were still underway, and a new age of exploration occurred as those
of Europe began to extend their hands across the world towards America. During
these times the common folk changed and adapted many of their ideals, and suffered
many hardships and heartaches. In this period, a man of Normandy named Gustave
Flaubertcaught many of these hardships within his writings. With words, thoughts,
and crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went
through day by day. As an article put out by TV Tropes explains, Flaubert was
famous for his precise, straightforward writing style, filled with the ideal of realism:

these times in general. Her father and mother were both killed when she was very

Most places where she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving

struggles and sacrifices made by individuals has really helped shaped our country s
future for new generations.
Aspiration is by Aaron Douglas (1899 1979), a Kansas native and an African
American painter. He is considered the leading visual artist who worked as a faithful
expert in the Harlem Renaissance (The Negro Movement). He was a skilled and
thoughtful artist during the entire Renaissance. When Aaron came to know that black
people were in charge of the Harlem Renaissance, he was quite impressed. The ...

the struggle and freedom of the African American society. Both the men standing
are symbolizing the 20th century and the two influence the aspects of schooling
and they look at the city on a hill, whose innovative high rise buildings personify
the progress made by humans and aspiration. The chained hands on the bottom of
the picture are lifted up which exclaim a fair analysis of the picture. The man
pointing at the building is also expressing his freedom in a form of happiness. The
men wearing suits also bring the painting to a whole new level which focuses on a
change of slavery to freedom. In Aspiration, there is a seated figure which
exemplifies Egyptian art, and also the likeness of pyramids which is formed by the
space between the points of the star. The five pointed star represent Texas which is
the Lone Star State but also recollects the North Star that lead the liberated slaves to

Equal Pay Act Of 1964 Essay
There are four Acts passed by Congress that were pivotal for equality in the
American workforce. Until these laws were passed by Congress, people of color and
woman suffered grave injustices in the form of hiring, income, promotion, and
termination. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended the Jim Crow laws of the South that
promoted segregation and many laws of inequality that plagued the southern states in
America. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 helped establish equal pay for women in the
workforce. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978 established litigation for
working pregnant women. The Civil Rights Act of 1991 greater enforced the Civil
Rights Act of 1964 and held organization monetarily responsible for violations of
discriminations to minorities. The learning of these important laws will help an
individual better understand their rights as it pertains to employment in the workforce.

The intentions of the Equal Pay Act were to provide legislation to make it illegal for
organizations to discriminate in pay by sex (gender). The workforce at that time was
discriminating the wages of women of all races. The women were receiving lower
wages than that of the America male.
The major components of the Act are that an employer must pay women the same
pay as that of the male counterparts. The EPA provides that the employer may not
lower wages to employees of one gender than it pays to employees of other gender,
employees within the same establishment for equal work at jobs that require equal
skill effort, and responsibility, and that are performed under similar working
conditions. ( Equal Pay, 2017, p. 1) The EPA was passed in 1963 and the Act made

Analysis Of To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee
Harper Lee is best known for writing the Pulitzer Prize winning bestseller To Kill a
Mockingbird. The novel takes place during the depression in Alabama with the main
character, Scout, viewing her lawyer father, Atticus, defending a wrongly accused
black man of rape. The reader gets to understand Scout s childhood view of this
controversial situation. Scout s character in to Kill a Mockingbirdby Harper Lee is
really the author s own life playing out in the novel, which is most likely why this
novel is thought to be one of the best American Novels of the 20th century. Harper
Lee and Scout both grew up being tomboys. They both did not have an interest in
being girly. Harper Lee couldn t cared less about fashion, makeup or dating. Instead
she focused on her studies and writing. Lee was an member of the literary honor
society and the glee club (Biography.Com Editors). Scout s aunt was always
nagging her to act more girlish. Aunt Alexandra was fanatical on the subject of my
attire. I could not possibly hope to be a lady if I wore breeches; when I said I could
do nothing in a dress, she said I wasn t supposed to be doing things that required
pants. Aunt Alexandra s vision of my involved playing with small stoves, tea sets,
and wearing the Add A Pearl necklace she gave me when I was born (Lee 154).
Scout usually wore overalls instead of a dress, and was friends with boys rather than
girls. Scout liked to spend her free time hanging out with Jem and Dill, and
Sikhism In Sikhism
Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world is five hundred years old. Like
Hinduism, Sikhism also believes in the endless cycle of rebirth and the karma
generated past life affecting the place where you are born. The founder of this
religion was Guru Nanak and his followers became Sikhs. Guru Nanak was born in
Hindu family in northern India with exposure to both Hindu and Muslim religions.
Kings of Lodhi dynasty were the rulers and conditions in the country were sewer.
Adultery and debauchery were the common practices at that time and young
women were caught in the open market without any restriction (Singh 1).
Marriageable and grown up girls were taken away from their parents. Girls were
mistreated and parents were afraid to give birth to girl child so they began to
murder their own girl child. Thousands of girls were put to death and buried in the
ground. Pregnant women were considered as burdensome to her husband and if
women gave birth to female child it was considered bad and everyone weep on the
birth of female child. Instead of killing their daughters some parents began to marry
their daughters as soon as they were born. Many people adapted the system of
childhood marriage and it soon became a culture (Singh 2). Sri Guru Nanak Devji was
born in 1469 in Talwandi, a village in the Sheikhupura district, 65 kms. west of
Lahore. He was married in 1487 and was blessed with two sons, one in 1491 and the
second in 1496.By all accounts, 1496 was the year of his
Are Women Responsible For Their Own Low Pay Analysis
Emma Watson said It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two
sets of opposing ideals. (Rosenfield). Since the beginning of American culture early
colonial years women have been viewed inferior in society, and men have always
been the dominant gender. In the 1900s women did not have many rights, they took
on domestic jobs such as cleaning, cooking, and taking care of their children. As the
years have passed, women have been granted more rights such as the right to an
education, and the right to vote, but still there is a gap that needs to be closed.
Women are vigorously fighting for an equal pay, because even though men and
women perform the same jobs and show the same level of competency the unequal
pay is still there.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ted Cruz does not believe in the Paycheck Fair Act, he says that there, In an
interview done with Fox News he talks about equal pay for equal pay...has been the

so many women are living and poverty and that the numbers for employed women
have gone down. Republican candidate Donald Trump says, Women should have
absolute access to capital. If they do the same job, they should get the same pay.

professional skills. Donald trump as concisely has changed is his mind when it

have said how they would improve the gender gap. But when it comes to politics

Masculinity In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
The people in Chronicle of a Death Foretold surround themselves with honor whist
they hide behind their masculinity. This concept of conserving their honor above all
else is the source of the society s problem, they all mask themselves from the truth
because they are frightened by it. This is demonstrated by Angela s mother, Purisima
del Carmen, when she beats Angela for supposedly not being a virgin, she was
holding me by the hair with one hand and beating me with the other with such rage
that I thought she was going to kill me (MГЎrquez 46). By suppressing themselves,
the women of the society give into the expectation set by Machismo. When PurГsima
beats Angela instead of consoling her, she is depicting the impact Machismo has on
the women.
Jupiter s 3 Year Research Paper
Have you ever considered the falsehood of some of the information that you ve
been fed? Just think about it. It seems that every discovery is made by a curious
European scientist . For example, Galileo Galilei is considered to have discovered
Jupiter s four moons in 1610, and the moons have even been named Galilean Moons
, but Africans, the Dogon people to be exact, actually discovered Jupiters four moons
over 60,000 years ago. This is just one of many example of many of African
discoveries that they were not credited for along with further findings in astronomy,
weapons, metallurgy, and tools, and mathematics. For starters, astronomy has been
dated back to as early as 3200 BC in Mali, West Africa, which, by the way, is the
earliest time dated for the field. The Dogon people of Mali were able to chart the
movement of the sun, recognize constellations, and chart the cycle of the moon. While
the Mayans created the first calendar in 3114 BC, Africans created the calendar that
we currently use today. Mayans used a two calendar system that could not predict
days more than 52 days ahead, and it divided a 365 day calendar into 18 twenty day
months. The Africans, however, created the African Stonehenge, a calendar that
could predict as far as one would like, that consists of 365... Show more content on

70,000+ years ago, Africans developed the systems of adding and subtracting as
well as multiplication and division. Also, they were the first to make sense of
fractions. Egyptians used geometric formulas to calculate the volume and area of
items so that they could construct different structures. They also calculated distances
and angles along with solving algebraic based on minimum resources, like the Nile
River. The ancient Egyptians also theorized that a circle is equal to 360 degrees, and
pi was estimated to be about 3.16. The same mathematics that we use today was

Where Are The Female Heroes Summary
In the Ted Talk Where Are The Female Heroes? ,the conductor Christopher Bell
addresses how dangerous gender roles can be. However the division doesn t seem
as obvious as first because a girl can find costumes for any male superhero and plenty
of merchandise but as you start to pay attention you will realize that the female
characters are non existent. Costumes often times have their male characters in a
wide variety of reimaginings in order to also fit women but the same can t be said
for female characters because the only time you will find a costume for them is in
the girls section. There is also a form of erasure that happens when it comes time to
sell toys to kids. In The Avengers movie there is a motorcycle stunt performed by
the character Black Widow who for a while served as the only female avenger. That
scene surely got little girls excited and wanting... Show more content on

Unfortunately when someone got the bright idea to turn it into a toy they decided it
should be Captain America on the motorcycle because why would girls ever be
interested in that? Bell concludes his talk with an example of a little boy who tried
to hang himself because he was bullied into thinking something was wrong with him
because he liked My Little Pony.
I certainly agree that there is a lack of proper representation when it comes to women
in the superhero genre. There have been very few women heroes depicted on the big
screen over the years. Growing up the ones that come to mind are Catwoman,
Elektra, and Tomb Raider and these all share something in common and that is that
they are portrayed in a way that may appeal to grown men and not little girls. In
recent years things have progressed very little in my opinion. Female characters are
Ethical Decision Making Model Of Ethics And Its...
After reviewing several ethical decision making models, reviewing the code of ethics
and its foundations, and examining personal beliefs and values surrounding ethics, I
have come up with an ethical decision making model. This model incorporates
aspects of pre existing models, including the social constructivist model, practitioner s
guide, feminist model, and Herlihy and Corey s (2015) elements of ethical decision
making (p. 20). This model is broken down into seven steps, which are meant to be
followed chronologically but may be returned to throughout the decision making
process when necessary. The steps can be easily remembered with the acronym, DR.
CAREFUL. The following are the names of each step and subsequent sections in this
model. 1.Describe the Dilemma 2.Reflect 3.Consult 4.Assess Possible Actions and
Consequences 5.Re consult 6.Execute 7.Follow up and Learn Throughout the entire
process, documentation is strongly advised. The following descriptions will enhance
the purpose of each step and outline specific actions. Describe the Dilemma Many
ethical decision making models suggest that the first step in an ethical decision
making model is to pinpoint the issue at hand by gathering information. This model
suggests that the first step in an ethical decision making model is to clearly define
and describe the dilemma. Dilemma The counselor should gather information on the
dilemma at hand. Questions to consider are: What are the implications of leaving
Dean Of Admissions Essay
The Office of Admissions in an integral component in the success of any institution
of higher education. The main responsibilities of the admissions office are to recruit
and admit quality students to the institution. The work of the admissions office
does not stop there. Admissions personnel must work in concert with various other
departments to provide services to the student population. After several years
working in both admissions and student academic services, I have been offered a
position as the Dean of Admissions. This position will be extremely challenging as
there has been a forceful change a leadership. Shortly after beginning my new
position, I learn that the department has been inadequately lead and staffed and the
morale is almost non existent. The office has been mismanaged for the past ten
years. Admission goals have not been met and there is extremely high turnover
amongst staff. In an effort to turn the admissions office around, I would devise a
detailed plan the spells out how progress will be made. Murphy and Jentz suggest
using reflective inquiry and action which is comprised of five steps: 1. embrace your

The Importance Of Physical Activity
This paper begins with the exploration into whether or not physical activities can be
traced back to the classroom. Participating in sports, represents a form of physical
activity. By the same token, participating in classroom activities and completing
educational objectives represents performing mental activity. What might not be so
common is that physical activity actually produces increased brain functionality
(Florida National University, 2014). An article published by the Florida National
University (2014), elaborates that individuals who consistently engage in physical
activity regardless of age group or gender tend to experience better overall health,
leading to increased mental capabilities and cognitive functions (Florida National
University, 2014). Given this information, it can be further expanded that the
demands of participating in sports activities such as, games and practice, which can
be considered physical activity, relate back to increased mental performance that has
the potential to emerge in the classroom (Florida National University, 2014). To
further support the view that physical activity increases brain functionality a series
of studies and research have been performed. According to Ratey and Hagerman
(2008), there is a correlation between physical activity and brain functionality (Ratey
Hagerman, 2008). The authors of this book, search for the answers provided by
studies and research to the question of how physical activities impact grades.
Dbq On Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson was believed to be a humble and respectful person, but not all
accusations are true. Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States,
he also created the Declaration of Independence which is a necessity for our country
or government to run. Thomas Jefferson wanted everyone to be treated equally and
some documents and information might disprove that fact. Some things he said
disprove these different beliefs that he shared with the people. By studying this
information, one might believe that Thomas Jeffersondid not uphold his beliefs and
had great inconsistency with them, you might consider him a hypocrite.
In one of the many beliefs Thomas Jefferson say is that all men should be treated
equally and are created equally but this thought from Thomas Jefferson has great
inconsistency. For instance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Information also shows he Finalizes the deal with France had no Constitutional

government. If Thomas Jefferson was inconsistent with his belief in trusting the
people, then he was not living up to his
Feminism In The Yellow Wallpaper
One feminist theory is that whenever woman hold power in society they are treated
as the other . Women have always been seen as domestic or the care takers of the
family; women stay home with the kids, tend to dinner and the cleaning. That
being said whenever a woman, like Jane, tries to step out of the nurturing role, men
tend to feel intimidated and was unsure how to react to such a thing happening
(like when John and Jane s brother diagnose her to be mentally ill all because she
desires to write). In the time of the story, Jane is seen as mentally ill because she
desires to read and write while her husband who happens to be a physician of high
standing says she tends to have slightly hysterical tendency(Page 1, paragraph 5). In
The Yellow Wallpaper
Gilman uses the yellow wallpaper to symbolize Jane, who
represents the way women use to be treated as the lesser in society.
In the time this story was written, back in 1899, men and women were not viewed
as equals and this short story is a prime example. As the readers go through the
story they can literally see the shifts in her sanity by her illness and the almost
revolting yellow wallpaper, which represents all the women who in that time
period were overlooked by the men in society. In 1899, women did not have much
power. Women were to assume the role of becoming a wife and tending to the
husband s needs, they are not their own individual. She even says he is very careful
and loving and hardly lets me stir

In the book Much Ado About Nothing, there are two friends Claudio and Benedick,
who are very different yet have many similarities. Claudio on the one hand was as
one would say the romantic but Benedick on the other hand was an arrogant ladies
man. During the beginning of Act 1 Claudio is introduced to Hero the daughter of
Signior Leonato and is immediately interested in her stating that quote, she is the
sweetest lady that ever I looked on. Though interested in her, Claudio wanted
Benedick s approval. When hearing that Claudio was attracted to Hero Benedick
immediately was in disapproval of the thought, for in his eyes she was quote too
low for high praise, too brown for fair praise, and too little for great praise. Though
disappointed of Benedick s disapproval, Claudio chose to still peruse Hero. Later
on Claudio and Hero get engaged but when Don John an evil man here s about the
engagement he devises a plan to deceived Claudio and destroy the marriage. When
Don John s plan is put into action Claudio falls right into the trap and believes that
Hero is cheating on him. Though Claudio is furious he does not confront Hero with
his problem but rather holds on to the information until the wedding. The wedding
day arrives, and everything is in place. Once Hero has come down the aisle Claudio
then starts accusing her of cheating on him. Instead of confronting Hero alone to talk
about what he saw, Claudio choose to humiliate her in front of her family and friends.

For standing by us in toughest of time, we thank them. Above all, to GOD, almighty, we bow and lay down our sincere prayers and thank him. ABSTRACT The project is designed to minimize penalty for industrial units by using automatic power factor correction unit with the help of zig bee. Power factor is defined as the ratio of real power to apparent power. This definition is often mathematically represented as KW/KVA, where the numerator is the active (real) power and the denominator is the (active + reactive) or apparent power. Reactive power is the non working power generated by the magnetic and inductive loads, to generate magnetic flux. The increase in reactive power increases the apparent power, so the power factor also decreases. Having low power factor, the industry needs
  • 3. The Movie Chicago There has been a steady decline in musicals being produced, since the 1970 s. The movie Chicago has helped to bring the genre of musicals back into public favor. With the help of the movie, and articles that have been written about the return of the musical, I will convey how this has come to be. I have looked at the history of this genre to see how it has gone down in popularity, and how it has come back. Music has been around for as long as anyone can remember. People have been pairing music and dance for a long time too. While there have been stage productions of musicals for a long time it was with the advent of the motion picture that the musical film was born. With the coming of talking motion pictures, the musical film genre emerged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are other acts before hers and we can assume there are more afterwards. While Kelly is performing, Roxie is seen talking to a man (Fred Casley) about him introducing her to a friend of his so that she can finally get on the stage. Her and Fred then leave the club and head back to Roxie s apartment and are engaging in sexual exchanges throughout the whole walk back and also in her apartment. They also seem to have alcohol, which was banned due to prohibition at the time. During this scene, there is crosscutting scenes between Roxie with Fred and Velma singing. While both of these seem to be happening at the same time at the end of the musical number Roxie states that it was a month ago that they heard Kelly sing, as that was the night she had killed her husband and
  • 4. My Mom Shehnaz Soni Is An Everyday Hero People normally characterize heroes as someone with supernatural abilities like superman, but a hero can be anyone. A hero can be an average person doing something good like picking up someone s wallet when you have dropped it. Another example would be someone who fights crime and fights fire. These everyday unsung heroes generally do these things because they have good intentions, even if it is for little reward or fame. I have a close familymember who bears the qualities needed to be an everyday unsung hero. My Mom Shehnaz Soni is an everyday, unsung hero because she has given me and my younger brothers love and care for our basic needs and she has also persevered in overcoming two divorces. Shehnaz Soni is petite and beautiful; she is about 5 feet and 3 inches and has a smile that offers love and compassion. She is the light at the end of the tunnel and offers kindness and helps her family and friends. She comes from a middle class family from Karachi, Pakistan; her parents maintained the family because her dad was a photographer and loved taking pictures, and he also managed shops. Although both parents were raised in Karachi, her dad was born in India before the independence from Pakistan. He eventually moved to Karachi after the independence. When he was older he eventually met my grandmother and had an arranged marriage. Together they had three children whom they raised. Today, my grandparents are still living in Karachi with my uncle who takes care of them. Their
  • 5. Lena The Black Widow Character Analysis Lena the Black Widow Despite being Joe s wife, Lena selfishly recognizes the value of being with Spunk, and is thankful for Joe s death. Lena believes Joe is inadequate, and elopes with Spunk because he can provide for her. Lena s life with Joe is not lavish. He ain t never had nothin nor wanted nothin , and Lena finds Joe s lack of both wealth and ambition intolerable (109). She remarks that the house they live in was given to her by her father. Joe is incapable of providing a house for her. Joe s ability to support Lena directly contrasts that of Spunk, who asserts that Lena doesn t need to look to nobody for a crumb of bread, or a stitch of close or a shingle to go over [her] head, except him (107). Spunk insists that he alone can provide for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She undoubtedly adores Spunk, and is overwhelmed by his ability to satisfy her needs. Consequently, Lena boldly displays her relationship with Spunk, publicly disgracing her marriage, and is relieved when Joe dies. The first appearance of Lena features her clinging lovingly to [Spunk s] arm, as the couple walks towards the woods. Already the reader is presented with Lena s affection for Spunk (Hurston 105). The saloon patrons gawk at how easily Spunk parades around Lena. They note that he struts round wid another man s wife, emphasizing his confidence in his relationship with Lena (105). For a married woman to flaunt her extramarital affair in the middle of town she must have no remorse for the repercussions faced by her husband. Lena s apathy towards Joe is highlighted by her numerous rendezvous with Spunk throughout the week, undeterred by the visible suffering in Joe s eyes, his face, and even the dejected slump of his shoulders (106). Clearly, Lena must care more deeply for Spunk than she does for Joe. Lena showcases her lack of affection for Joe when he is arguing with Spunk over her. Joe asks Lena for confirmation that she is his wife, but she only looked at him real disgusted, and
  • 6. Desertion In Frankenstein The suggestions based off of Mary Shelley s experience as a woman are indeed a result of her life. However, that doesn t mean her work was the story of her life but a mere indication of the judgement that occurred in society during her era. The depiction of moral ethical corruption that can take place in a moment as a personification of desertion or isolation, both are found in Mary s life and within her tale of Frankenstein. During the time when Mary Shelley began to write her novel, women were perceived as being confined to the traditional genderroles. There were moments in Mary s life where she found herself isolated or deserted from like minded intellectuals, based solely on the stigmatized idea of her being a woman. Due to her moments... • 7. Kwame Nkrumah s Impact On The Contribution Of The... Throughout human history, there have been multiples leaders that have sought to implement change and bring prosperity to their people and definitely, Kwame Nkrumah is one of them. Indeed, Nkrumah is one of the leading figures in the fight against colonialism not only in Ghana, his country, but also in the continent of Africa itself, and across the world. He sought to challenge the colonial powers and their system of global capitalism by implementing the socialist route once he achieved the independence of Ghana from the British Empire in 1957. Although, Nkrumah was not successful in his plan and after nine years as President of Ghana, he was removed from power, he still played a major role on the development of the Pan Africanismmovement and its huge impact in different parts of the world. To recall, Pan Africanism is the principle of the political union of all indigenous inhabitants of Africa. In other words, this movement encouraged the African people all over the globe to unite as one and fight for their independence and rights to not be colonized and exploited anymore. From his early years of life, Nkrumah experienced first hand the exploitation and suffering of the African people. While he was attending the Lincoln University and later, University of Pennsylvania, he had the opportunity to get involved in political organizations that would help his African brothers not only in the United States, but also back in Africa. For this reason, he joined a group of African
  • 8. A Report On Stockholm Syndrome Abstract According to the United States Department of Justice reports, each year nearly 800,000 children are claimed to be missing. This shows that each day, over 2,000 children are reported missing. Kidnappings occur for a variety of reasons, and at the hands of many different people ( Children Exploitation and Obscenity Section , n.d.). For example, the United States Department of Justice claims that 203,000 children are kidnapped by family members annually, while 58,200 are abducted by individuals outside of the family annually ( Children Exploitation and Obscenity Section , n.d.). Kidnappings occur more frequently than the public realizes. The physical and psychological affects being kidnapped has on the victim varies for each individual. One reaction to hostile kidnappings or hostage situations is the development of Stockholm syndrome. According to the FBI law enforcement bulletin, Understanding Stockholm Syndrome by De Fabrique, Romano, Vecchi, and Van Hasselt (2007), nearly 27% of kidnapping victims display signs of Stockholm syndrome. Kidnapping Victims and Stockholm Syndrome What is Stockholm Syndrome Stockholm syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which the victim identifies with their captor (Namnyak, Tufton, Szekely, Toal, Worboys, Sampson, 2008). This may be apparent through sympathy, positive feelings toward their captor, and some even defend their kidnapper (Namnyak, et. al., 2008). The syndrome arises from the stress of the fear when the

Defence mechanisms are mental processes which are automatically triggered when anxiety occurs. They are unconscious strategies which are used by individuals to protect themselves from stress or guilt. (O Brien, 2008) The defence mechanism, which is evident in this case study is denial. Ac cording to Freud, denial is refusing to accept reality. It involves a denial from an occurring event or a previous event which caused pain but refuses to acknowledge it. This is the most primitive defence and plays an im portant role in the grieving process. From my reading of the case study, it is evident that Imelda is in denial as Imelda refuses to take her oral steroids because it makes her gain weight. She also hasn t refilled her prescription within the last month as her concerned mother had checked with the phar macy. Sigmund Freud had also proposed five psychosexual stages. He had sug gested that we pass in childhood and felt that children needed to explore dif ferent parts of their body. The five psychosexual stages were 1. Oral Stage ( 0 1 years) 2. The firm has already cut production in an attempt to trim costs in line with faling demand. in addition, just over half of Harley s motorcycle revenues are derived from retail sales made on credit. We think that the lack of available funds on the wholesale markets and the shrinking of the number of qualifying customers will make it difficult for the company s financial services division to continue to support retail sales by providing credit to customers. Harley must address some long term challenges. The firm has been focused on a narrow demographic group (around 89% of customers are male) and the median age of Harley s customers has been on a long term upward trend. We believe that the firm must find ways to broaden the appeal of its brand without alienating its core customer base. Harley has grown in recent years in the international market , and revenues generated abroad have risen to 25% of total revenues in 2007 from 19% in 2004. Although the firm has recently introduced a performance motorcycle for the European market, I think that it may find it difficult to deliver customized products for overseas markets while supporting its brand franchise. Risk Harley s revenues could be severely hurt by a further weakening of the global economy and increased reductions in consumer spending on high ticket discretionary items,

Guido As A True Hero In The Film Life Is Beautiful The film Life is Beautiful, tells the powerful story of a Jewish man who uses his humorous personality to protect his son in a concentration camp. The use of comedy to express the evils of fascism and Nazi Germany is effective in conveying the belief that beauty and light can be found even in the most horrible of places. Guido, the movie s protagonist, uses his wit and optimistic character to save his family. This movie is truly complex as it is a lighthearted comedy, while at the same time a dark drama. Guido knew that it was wrong for the fascists to decide when and how the Jewish population would die. Thus, Guido did not succumb to the forces that oppressed him. Earlier this year I attended Lady Gaga s sold out show, The Joanne World Tour in Edmonton on August 3rd It was her second show after it kicked off in Vancouver. My friend Kylie and I woke up at 4:45am to get ready. We showered, put on makeup and got our outfits ready. My outfit was made a week prior to the show. A leather jacket hot glued with diamonds, jewels and rhinestones with a red cross painted in the middle on the back a reference to her song Judas . The words Lady Gaga were glitter painted on the top and bottom, and under it I wore a Lady Gaga shirt, the rest of the outfit, glitter leggings and the boots bedazzled with rhinestones. We were ready by 6am, we then drove to the Rogers Centre arena. When we arrived at the arena, we were lost and did not know how to get into the building, we decided to message other fans who were already inside on Instagram, they replied right away and said Go to the back and come up to the third floor, by ticket sales by the time we found out where to go it was about 7:30 am. She uses symbolism because it makes it easier for readers to understand the deeper meaning or feeling of the character or the events that are happening. For example, author uses the symbolism of bean trees as transformation and Ismene as the abandoned children to show the deeper meaning of them. Turtle was staring up at the wisteria flowers. Beans, she said, pointing... We looked where she was pointing. Some of the wisteria flowers had gone to seed, and all these wonderful long green pods hung down from the branches. Even Turtle, after a long minute or two the quail got her family herded off the road into some scraggly bushes (96). The birds are significant symbolism in this book. They often appear in the book to symbolize Turtle; Kingsolver did this to show Turtle is a strong survival instinct child. First, when Taylor took Turtle to doctor and discovered that she has been abused and raped. As she makes this discovery, she sees a bird nest on a cactus. This shows that Turtle, in spite of her surroundings she keep persists. Also, when Turtle met the robber, a sparrow got caught in Lou Ann s house, the bird getting scared shows the Turtle s confusion and fright. But sparrow survives and leaves the house; this shows that even though Turtle is going through confusion she will survive. Finally, the quote shows the moment when Lou Ann and Taylor found a family of birds on the road. This quote symbolizes how Turtle is satisfied with her small family, feel safe, and she is happy. In conclusion, Kingsolver uses the symbolism to show the deeper feeling or meaning of each character, or the

The group of black feminists, Combahee River Collective, strived to firmly and clearly establish their position when it came to politics of feminism, and therefore separated from the male counterparts and white women (Thomas). In the statement, the activists dwell on four major topics, including the dawn of modern Black feminism, the domain of politics, short history and the issues and practices of the group. Even though the group called for the liberation of the women of color, the activists did not assume an exclusive standpoint, but instead a humble ground for their group. The collective did not want pedestals, Queenwood and lagging ten steps behind but rather to be accepted as human, just sensibly as humans ( The Combahee River Collective ). The group s primary focus was on the liberation of the Black women, something they expressed in the statement black women are inherently valuable. The group voiced its concerns in a positive, yet proud, way. It celebrated one another s personal experiences in a non elitist manner. The members of the group endeavored to show people around the world that their identity considerations and associations do not score their experience of repression. They emphasized that the oppression they underwent is no more than an experience or even more significant compared to the one of any sideline

Athens was responsible for the major turning points of the Persian invasions, while Sparta was responsible for the deciding battle. Miltiades, with his skilful battle strategies, defeated the Persians during their second invasion at Marathon, which gave Athens a confidence boost on their military. During the third invasion, when the Athenians were evacuated to Salamis, Themistocles had devised a plan to trick the Persians which had resulted in Persian army without a supply line. Sparta?s importance had revealed during their sacrifice at Thermopylae and at Plataea, where they provided the most effective part of the army. Athens was an ... He sent a slave to the Persians with a message that they were escaping, and the Persians sent ships to meet there escapees. The Athenian ships were prepared to face them. Their specialty in sea battles, along with the narrowness and swirls of the sea gave the Athenians an advantage. This strategy is what ultimately brought victory to the Greeks, as it left the Persians without a supply line and weakened their forces. The two events, the battle at Marathon and the battle at Salamis, showed that Athens was a great contributor to the war, both land and sea. Sparta was also a contributor to the defeat of the Persians. They were renowned for their great military strength and discipline on land. This gave fear to everyone who was facing the Spartans. In the battle at Marathon, the Persians had to attack soon, knowing that if they didn?t, the superior Spartan warriors would arrive. This fear forced the Persians to hurry their operations, which was why the cavalry was sent off by ships to attack Athens and allowed the Athenians to win at Marathon. The battle at Thermopylae was also another contribution to the war. The Spartans, along with the other Greeks were able to hold off the Persians, but when the enemy found a secret passage around the mountain, many of the Greeks retreated, except for the

I have been actively involved in teaching, tutoring, and mentoring high school and undergraduate research students throughout my doctoral and postdoctoral work at the City University of New York (CUNY). I taught General Chemistry(I II) laboratory courses and recitation sections at CUNY for four years. I volunteered as a physical chemistry tutor for undergraduate students from CUNY. At St. John s Collegeof Liberal Arts and Sciences, my teaching assignment included a General Chemistry Laboratory course that also involved a synergistic approach to conducting several laboratory sessions guided simultaneously by two instructors. Along with Dr. Ruth Stark and her graduate students at City College, I designed a curriculum for a biophysics foundation course ( Touring the tomato: A suite of chemistry laboratory experiments ) geared for undergraduate and high school students seeking research experience through CUNY s College Now program. The eight module course introduces a panel of analytical techniques for studying the structural properties of biopolymers obtained from an inexpensive source such as the tomato fruit at increasingly detailed molecular levels. In its final phase, students design independent research projects related to structural investigations of various biomaterials obtained from fruits and vegetables. We tested our new curriculum by giving a summer

Shakespeare was born in Stratford. His precise birthday is not known, but it is thought to be April 23, because according to church records, he was baptized on April 26, 1564. During this time babies were typically baptized when they were 3 days old. Shakespeare s father was John Shakespeare, who was a glove maker and a tradesman. His mother was Mary Arden. Shakespeare was married to Anne Hathaway on November 1582. Shakespeare was 18 at the time of the wedding and Anne was 26. Their first child, Susanna was born 6 months after the wedding in 1583. In 1585 they had fraternal twins, A son, Hamnet and a daughter named Judith. Hamnet passed away when he was 11 years old, possibly from bubonic plague. One of my favorite Shakespeare plays is Hamlet. The story develops with the late King Hamlet appearing to his child, requesting retaliation on his sibling, the King Claudius, which is an occasion prone to irritate the Crown Prince. Over the span of the show, Hamlet perseveres through numerous trials of his will and cognise compelling him to reinforce his feelings and the strategies by which he will execute them. Yet, through it

Decision trees could be used in classification applications that target discrete value outcomes by classifying unclassified data based on a pre classified dataset, for example, classifying credit card applicants into three classes of risk, which are low, medium or high. Also, decision trees could be used in estimation applications that have continuous outcomes by estimating value based on pre classified datasets, and in this case the tree is called a regression tree, for example, estimating household income. Moreover, decision trees could be used in prediction applications that have discrete or continuous outcomes by predicting future value same as classification or estimation, for example, predicting credit card loan as good or bad. 2.1 Decision Tree Models Decision tree models are explanatory models, which are English rules so they are easy to evaluate and understand by people. The decision tree model is considered as a chain of rules that classify records in different bins or classes called nodes [1]. Based on the model s algorithm, every node may have two or more children or have no child, which is called in this case leaf node [1]. Building decision tree models requires partitioning the pre classified dataset into three parts,

Though the first nations had operated on Canadian soil long before any Europeans settled on the land, they were still disregarded in terms of importance in the early 20th century: Aboriginal policy was made by government without consulting Aboriginal people and with little public attention . This quote shows how First Nations people had no voice when it came to decisions made about them, or anything else in Canada for that matter. Aboriginals hated that they were being taken advantage of, and they felt like they were just a pawn in the government s game of chess. The Aboriginals voice was finally heard in 1951, where the Indian Act was revised. Aboriginal representatives looked to further revise the Act in 1968, but the Government had other plans. The Effects Of Age On Short Term Memory The main goal of this study was to investigate the effects of age on short term memory and to examine if familiar music or unfamiliar music produced more errors in a word recall task. The results showed that participants scored similarly in both the familiar music and the unfamiliar music condition. The lack of a significant difference between the familiar music and the unfamiliar music condition signifies that short term memory is equally impacted while listening to familiar music as it is when listening unfamiliar music. These findings oppose my original prediction that participants would recall more words in the familiar music condition than they would in the unfamiliar familiar music condition by showing that there was no difference in the average amount of words recalled between the music conditions. It is possible that these results did not reach statistical significance because, while the participants were familiar with the melody and lyrics of the song used in the familiar music condition, they were unfamiliar with the specific version of the song. However, the results replicated those of Alley and Greene (2008), which also showed that music familiarity had no impact on short term music performance. The results also revealed that the older participants and younger participants performed equally as well on the recall task. Fascinatingly, this result suggests that age has little relevance on the immediate recall of words. The implication of this finding is unexpected
  • 30. The Impact Of Child Trafficking On Society Abstract This paper explores the impact of child trafficking in society. Poverty, gender inequality, and globalization are some risk factors that contribute to child trafficking. Even if governments, the United Nations and other important human rights institutions strive to stop the propagation of this pandemic, it seems not enough. What is more, the extent of the problem lies on how some societies look at minor prostitution and the meaning of human life. In many poor countries sexual exploitation of minors; particularly girls, is not considered a big deal when it helps to support the family. Thereby, child trafficking continues and excels as to become one of the most important and profitable businesses around the world. Terminologies such as human trafficking and/ or domestic minor sex trafficking will direct the reader toward a more deep understanding of the root of the problem. Human trafficking deeply wounds society and people s life; however, some countries are little concerned of the extent of this particular trade among minorities. Lack of policies and protection from governments empower organized crime groups to continue the trafficking of children around the world. Although the NASW (National Association of social workers) code of ethics, social justice and dignity and worth of the person play an important role when assisting survivors of child trafficking, social workers are called to identify and find ways to meet survivors needs during the healing process.

The Two Identities Of An American Icon Carolina Mallar Dr. Pagnoni Christianity: G Period 10 December 2014 The Two Identities of an American Icon Early America was founded on the ideas of the early English colonies combined with the beliefs of the indigenous people. Conflicts between native tribes and Europeans characterized the colonial period and significantly impacted both the natives and the Europeans. Political strife, in addition to economic and territorial tensions, was commonplace among the indigenous and the colonists. Pocahontas, the princess of the local Powhatan tribe, played a pivotal role in this early contact between European and Indigenous American cultures. She often fostered peace between the English colonists and the Powhatans by befriending the colonists and eventually marrying one of them. As a result of her position as an emissary and sort of mediator between the two groups and her marriage, Pocahontas began to assimilate herself to European beliefs and ideologies by converting to Christianity. The changes that occurred as a result of Pocahontas marriage to John Rolfe and her conversion to Christianity led to profound cultural tensions and an ambiguous juxtaposition between her identities as a Powhatan Princess versus the Christian wife of John Rolfe. Established on May 14, 1607, the colony of Jamestown, located near present day Williamsburg, Virginia, was the first permanent English settlement in North America. In contrast, the Powhatan Empire led by Pocahontas father, Chief

In Death Be Not Proud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though they have different views of death they share the theme of defiance of death. Both Death Be Not Proud and Do not go gentle into that good night do not necessarily see death as a negative thing. In looking at the title Do not go gentle into that good night one notices that Thomas calls the night, presumably a metaphor for death, good. He also says wise men at their end know dark is right (4). This would suggest that he believes that death is a necessary occurrence. If Thomas sees death as necessary, then why does he say Rage, rage against the dying of the light (19)? The answer to this can be found in line 16 when he addresses his father. Throughout the whole poem he names different types of men, then in the last stanza he specifically names his father. I think that in this poem Thomas is trying to express that even though he knows that death is natural he doesn t want his father to die. This creates a sort of conflict within the poem where Thomas knows that eventually death will come for everyone, but he wants to put it off as long as possible in the case of his father. Donne s view of death is that it is an insignificant thing that has no power over people. By saying One short sleep past, we wake eternally (13), he illustrates that he believes that there is some sort of afterlife. In fact, he says that the time that death has power

With words, thoughts, and crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went through day by day. As an article put out by TV Tropes explains, Flaubert was famous for his precise, straightforward writing style, filled with the ideal of realism: Flaubert s writing ... Her father and mother were both killed when she was very young, and when her siblings split up without her she was left alone to find work. Most places where she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving her vulnerable to physical and verbal abuse. She even experienced this through a brief relationship, and though she did end up loving him he eventually revealed he was only looking for someone to marry to avoid the draft. Walking away in defeat, she found Madame Aubaine and signed on to work for her fifty years. It s here that she begins the biggest of her struggles. Under Madame Aubaine she suffered four hardships that were common in Felicite s days. Her first hardship was the loss of her nephew on his journey to America. As explained in the story, when Felicite s nephew left for the new world she constantly paced back and forth hoping a letter from him would arrive soon. The constant anxiety of never knowing whether or not he was alright was something that those who knew New World travelers experienced often. Even more people lost loved ones to this voyage as Felicite did. Without the instant communication and

In the 1900s women did not have many rights, they took on domestic jobs such as cleaning, cooking, and taking care of their children. It seems that every discovery is made by a curious European scientist . For example, Galileo Galilei is considered to have discovered Jupiter s four moons in 1610, and the moons have even been named Galilean Moons , but Africans, the Dogon people to be exact, actually discovered Jupiters four moons over 60,000 years ago. This is just one of many example of many of African discoveries that they were not credited for along with further findings in astronomy, weapons, metallurgy, and tools, and mathematics. For starters, astronomy has been dated back to as early as 3200 BC in Mali, West Africa, which, by the way, is the earliest time dated for the field. The Dogon people of Mali were able to chart the movement of the sun, recognize constellations, and chart the cycle of the moon. While the Mayans created the first calendar in 3114 BC, Africans created the calendar that we currently use today. This model incorporates aspects of pre existing models, including the social constructivist model, practitioner s guide, feminist model, and Herlihy and Corey s (2015) elements of ethical decision making (p. 20). This model is broken down into seven steps, which are meant to be followed chronologically but may be returned to throughout the decision making process when necessary. • 53. The Importance Of Physical Activity This paper begins with the exploration into whether or not physical activities can be traced back to the classroom. Participating in sports, represents a form of physical activity. By the same token, participating in classroom activities and completing educational objectives represents performing mental activity. What might not be so common is that physical activity actually produces increased brain functionality (Florida National University, 2014). An article published by the Florida National University (2014), elaborates that individuals who consistently engage in physical activity regardless of age group or gender tend to experience better overall health, leading to increased mental capabilities and cognitive functions (Florida National University, 2014). Given this information, it can be further expanded that the demands of participating in sports activities such as, games and practice, which can be considered physical activity, relate back to increased mental performance that has the potential to emerge in the classroom (Florida National University, 2014). To further support the view that physical activity increases brain functionality a series of studies and research have been performed. According to Ratey and Hagerman (2008), there is a correlation between physical activity and brain functionality (Ratey Hagerman, 2008). The authors of this book, search for the answers provided by studies and research to the question of how physical activities impact grades.

Women have always been seen as domestic or the care takers of the family; women stay home with the kids, tend to dinner and the cleaning. That being said whenever a woman, like Jane, tries to step out of the nurturing role, men tend to feel intimidated and was unsure how to react to such a thing happening (like when John and Jane s brother diagnose her to be mentally ill all because she desires to write). In the time of the story, Jane is seen as mentally ill because she desires to read and write while her husband who happens to be a physician of high standing says she tends to have slightly hysterical tendency(Page 1, paragraph 5). In The Yellow Wallpaper Gilman uses the yellow wallpaper to symbolize Jane, who represents the way women use to be treated as the lesser in society. As the readers go through the story they can literally see the shifts in her sanity by her illness and the almost revolting yellow wallpaper, which represents all the women who in that time period were overlooked by the men in society.
