Contributions Of Ferdinand De Sassure
1. INTRODUCTION
Language is an important part of human society and plays a large role in the social process of
communications. Many approaches have been undertaken into the study and analysis. The different
stages of these studies have led to the advent of modern linguistics. This essay will focus of the
contributions of Ferdinand de Sassure to the development of modern linguistics. It will focus on a few
of the key concepts discussed and introduced by Sassure including structuralism and signs, which
contributed to the development of modern linguistics.
2. DEFINITION OF LINGUISTICS
Ferdinand de Sassure defined the scope and aims of what is known as modern linguistics as describing
all known languages and recording their history through tracing ... Show more content on

The sound concept may be replaced instead by the signifier; the sound pattern or word that represents
or refers to the concept and the signified; the concept that is represented by sound pattern or word. The
signifier and the signified will then form the sign. For example, the concept of a key can be
represented by signifiers in different languages. In the English language, the object used to open locks
and other enclosures is represented by the signifier key . In French, the same concept or signified is
represented by the signifier la clef .
4. CONCLUSION
Ferdinand de Saussure s ideas laid a significant foundation for modern linguistics. His idea of making
the language structure the central focus of linguistics enables linguists to break up a language into
interconnected parts and analyse them individually. It also highlights the relationship between a
language and the individuals that utilise the language, a vice versa. He also explained the relationship
between sounds and utterances in a language and what they represent through semiology.
Understanding Sassure s ideas are an indispensable tool in understanding the mechanisms of modern

Sectional Crisis Of 1860
The secession of the Confederate states can be attributed to the collapse of a longstanding system of
political compromise. The factors responsible for this collapse were not only economic and political in
nature but also societal. The beginning of the sectional crisis can be attributed to the Market
Revolution and reform movements of the early 19th century. These cultural and economic changes
subsequently influenced American politics, as evidenced by landmark events such as the Compromise
of 1850, the acquisition of Mexican territory in 1858, the Wilmot Proviso, and finally the election of
1860. All of these events can be tied to changes in cultural attitudes throughout the North and South,
which invariably related to the question of slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the acquisition of Mexican Territory in 1848, the question of slavery entered the American
political spotlight in a way that had been avoided since the Missouri Compromise. This new territory
threatened the precarious balance of political power between Northern free states and Southern
slaveholding states. Finding a solution to this problem placed great stress on preexisting sectional
tensions. One proposal that was widely supported in the North was the Wilmot Proviso, which called
for the total halt of the expansion of slavery. This meant that no new slaveholding states could be
admitted to the Union, tipping the balance of power in favor of the North, which the South was
vehemently opposed to. Although the Proviso was not adopted it resulted in a total breakdown of the
party system along sectional lines and was indicative of an increasing unwillingness on both sides for
the political compromise that had one been the norm as exemplified by the Missouri Compromise.
Northern opposition to the Fugitive Slave Act, which was introduced by the Compromise of 1850, is
further evidence of this growing animosity between the two main factions of American society.
Southerners saw Northern refusal to comply with the Fugitive Slave Act as an affront to their
Constitutionally assured property rights. The final straw as far as the collapse of political compromise
in America was the election of 1860. The result was the election of Abraham Lincoln, a Northern
Republican candidate staunchly opposed to the expansion of slavery. Lincoln s particular brand of
antislavery sentiment appealed to a wide range of Northerners, his procolonization attitude and
emphasis on Constitutional

Benefits Of A Online Business
Persistence is a prerequisite to success in online business. There is no way you can make money
online if you are not persistent. Training yourself to become persistent, despite all eventualities, is one
important factor that you need to learn right from the day you venture into online business. It should
be understood right from the start that making money online takes time. Do not be fooled by those
scams who promise you heaven and who make you think that you can make thousands of dollars
overnight. To benefit from online business, it s really dependant upon several factors among which
include skill, knowledge, effort, time, will power and persistence.
I have observed that most people are longing to earn money online. This is evident in the number of
people that sign up in some of the affiliate programs I promote. However, when you consider those
who persist and become serious online marketers, you get tightlipped. I believe it s not only with me.
Even other marketers have a similar problem. Do you know why? It s partly because many people join
hoping to make quick money without necessarily knowing what it takes to succeed in online business.
Persistence is an unknown secret to most would be successful people in online business. But it s what
has turned many online marketers into millionaires. Of course there are other contributing factors, but
persistence plays a pivotal role and is a key ingredient to success in your business. Hard work and
persistence can

Analysis Of Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon
Victoria Sirianni Ms. Thompson AP ELA 4 21 July 2015 Song of Solomon Producing the plot with a
vivid image and motive allowed Toni Morrison to incorporate numerous literary works to enhance the
allusions in the story. These specific allusions gave readers a more accurate understanding of certain
aspects of the book. As well as this, readers are capable of searching beyond just the surface of what
the words say. The common use of biblical references and myths, as well as other notations, provide a
more in depth and detailed analyzation throughout the entire novel. To start off, Song of Solomon s
title relates to the biblical book of the same name. This emphasizes that the novel addresses more of
an old aged theme. The bible based book focuses on a conversation between two lovers and Toni s
novel is a celebration of the success of earthly love. Morrison also gives her characters biblical names
in order to match them with the well known figures. These characters not only obtain their original
history, but the history that their name carries in the Bible, as well. For example, the biblical character,
Hagar, is Sarah s handmaiden, who bears Sarah s husband a son and is then banished from his sight.
Similar to the previous one mentioned, Morrison s character is often used by Milkman. He takes
advantage of everything she has to offer and uses it for his own selfish benefits. He seems to regret

The Boys On The Bus Analysis
The media has also been a criticized industry because of their often critical stances on issues. Despite
this fact, little is actually know about the people who produce the content that is so heavily consumed.
Know as journalist, these individuals are wordsmiths with the power to alter the opinions of the
public. In the book The Boys on the Bus by Timothy Crouse, light is shed on the stories of these
individuals who are often.
Written in 1973, a year after the dramatic Presidential election of 1972, the boys on the bus shows the
election from a unique perspective. A few distinct contrast are shown that highlight the truth behind
journalism. The first is the comradery and competition amongst journalist, second is the human side of
the candidates, and lastly is the way scandals are covered. Within these topics, the boys on the bus
gives takes the reader on the unique journey that is known as the campaign trail.
The mix of comradery and competition between journalist is shown throughout the book. Outlined in
many ways, this balance shows the true nature of journalism. One great example of this takes place in
the beginning of the book. Here the many reporters are hustling to become the first to publish a story
while still comparing notes. This not only shows the balance of two spectrums but it also shows the

This same level of humanity can effect how journalist portray a certain candidate to their readers.
Knowing the strict line between friendly and professional is also very important. This is an overlying
theme in the book as it follows the 1972 presidential campaign trail. Though the book is titled The
Boys on the Bus, these individuals were often on a plane accompanied by the candidate. During these
long rode trips, not only was a bond build between reporters, but they also got to know the

Structural Functionalism, Conflict Theory, And Symbolic...
This response addresses question four and define the provided theories, which include structural
functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. In doing so, various components of the
theories are identified in relation to the topic of social change. In doing so, it is important to point out
that in sociology, theories are used to explain the patterns, the way groups of people decide to perform
specific actions, and the way societies do certain things or rather experience a change in a different
manner. On the other hand, social change implies the growth and development of a social order, which
bears some significant consequences.
To begin with, structural functionalism looks at the society as a bundle of a complex system with
different parts that work to support the whole. It stipulates that a society is a combination of
interrelated components, which work independently, but seek to achieve a common goal, which
supports the growth of the whole system. Some of the systems in the society include the government,
schools, businesses, and families. In essence, all these different components are fundamental in the
society as they serve different functions to develop the society. On the other hand, social conflict
theory looks at the society as a system with equal components, but within the endeavors to grow to
find themselves in conflicting paths. Thinking about the society, some of the trends lead to conflict
among the people living together. For example, ageism,

HealthSouth financial officer William Owens contributed with the securities and exchanges
commission and became an informer by recording his conversation with Scrushy to provide the
government evidence for their case. In one of the conversation Scrushy said to William Owens that he
could get killed if he fixed the financial statements immediately, but this problem could easily be dealt
with over time.
On March 19 of the year 2003, Securities and Exchange Commission brought the trading of
HealthSouth to an end on the New York stock exchange, charging the company for inflating its
earnings by more than 10 percent and overstated its profits by more than $2.5 billion between 1999
and 2002. HealthSouth s trading reached to $30.81 in the year 1998, but ever since the trading of the
company has been put to an end it reached to $3.91 per share. One week later, Owens pleaded guilty
to changing and editing the company s financial statements.
On March 31, the board of directors fired Scrushy and Owens and the auditors Ernest amp; young.
The company removed Scrushy s name from the conference center and hired a restricting firm to help
the company to avoid bankruptcy.
As HealthSouth started reviving from the scandal, Scrushy s problems were only starting. In October
of the year 2003 Scrushy faced more than 85 charges, including charges that he falsified accounts at

Cognitive Behavior Therapy And Ego Psychology
There are multiple theories that involve the success of a client s rehabilitation. Depending on the client
s needs, mental capacity, family support and resources all play a factor in which theories to implicate
in order to achieve the best outcome. Success of a theory can be determined based on the
improvements of the client from the beginning of the study to the end. There is no one particular
theory that is always guaranteed to work for each and every client. However, given multiple of focal
points allows a social worker the ability to combine and mix and match these theories to achieve an
accomplishment of their client s needs. The purpose of this paper is to identify and explain two
different theories. The history of each theory, how they work, what the focus of each would be and
how to apply them when appropriate. Also, another purpose of implementing a theory is gain a better
understanding of some client s problems. The theories I have chosen are Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Biography Of Photographer Art Rogers
In 1980, photographer Art Rogers was commissioned to picture Jim Scanlon s eight new German
Shepherds. Through creative thought and technical works, he photographed Scanlon, his wife, and
their dogs into the photograph Puppies. He soon licensed the image and sold it to be available as prints
and notecards. During Jeff Koons visit in Europe, he bought a Puppies notecard and gave it to Italian
artisans in the Demetz Studio to produce four copies of it as sculptures called String of Puppies. The
sculptures were placed in the 1988 Banality Show exhibition at the Sonnabend Gallery. Plaintiff
photographer Art Rogers claimed that defendant Jeff Koons copyrighted his photograph Puppies into
the sculpture String of Puppies. Koons argued his borrowing of Puppies was permissible under the fair

and permanent injunction for plagiarism and unfair competition under state laws.
Issue
Was defendant Koons String of Puppies borrowing of Roger s Puppies permissible under the fair use

Don’t Discriminate the Breed
How would you react if you became next to or close to a stray dog? Would you respond by running,
yelling, or even kicking or hitting the animal? Would you respond calmly, call animal control or even
walk away? Just because the dog is mean doesn t make it aggressive. Aggression is such a broad term
and it s not all bad. The four types I am going to address are protective aggression, territorial
aggression, fear motivated aggression, and pain induced aggression. Aggression that happens when a
mother protects a family member whether it is human or another animal is called protective
aggression. Dogs that want to protect/defend their home or area is territorial aggression. An example is
when you dog chases up and down the fence line. When a dog is scared it may protect itself for their
own safety. That is known as fear motivated aggression. This often occurs most then a dog is stuck or
cornered. Pain induced aggression is when a dog is in pain it can respond aggressively. When they do
that it is to try and help their selves but it may injury someone else. That is why when you are
approaching a wounded animal you do so with caution. A lot of people say aggression is random but it
s not. Aggression can be triggered many ways. It is also always response to something in the dog s
environment whether it is an action of a human or the appearance/attitude of another dog. Cesar

Art Analysis Of Donatello By One Of The Patron Saint Mark
ART ANALYSIS: SAINT MARK The Italian artist Donatello was selected by one of the guilds in
Florence to make a sculpture of their patron Saint Mark, and Donatello delivered. In the early
fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a
meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize
and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen
by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less
expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by
November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. Finally the statue was finished in 1413, and
truthfully the back of the statue was not fully completed because the back was not going to be
displayed. When Donatello finished this magnificent piece of art, the guild was actually quite critical
of the figure that stands seven feet nine inches tall. The figure was also profound because it used the
contrapposto stance, in which the figure is asymmetrical. This stance had been forgotten by artists all
throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important.
Donatello also considered the angle at which the statue of Saint Mark would be seen, from down
below. Donatello purposefully made Saint Mark s head and hands and torso elongated; this would be

Loneliness and Isolation in of Mice and Men
Loneliness In Of Mice And Men Of mice and men is a tale of loneliness and hardship felt by the
people living in America during the 1930 s. Written by John Steinbeck and published in 1937, it tells
the heartbreaking story of two ranch workers during the depression; George Milton and Lennie Small.
At the time America was very poor, with a shortage of jobs so people had to travel in search of new

This animal imagery carries on through the book. This presents Lennie as almost less than human. It
continued right till the end of the book when Lennie returns to where the book began. Lennie s
movement is compared to that of a bear, As silently as a creeping bear moves , when he gets to the
river he falls to his knees and laps up the water like an animal, just as he did at the beginning of the
book. The book rounds off nicely; starting just where it had begun. Plus the first and last scenes are
both described in the same manner, and both scenes talk of a water snake, with a periscope head
slithering across the deep green river. In the first scene it s just sliding along no problems. However in
the last scene, as it copies this gilding along the river, it s eaten by a heron. The heron symbolizes
Lennie s destiny. The first scene is set at sunrise, at the beginning of the week and the beginning of
George and Lennie s journey. When the week is ending and the sun is setting Lennie is shot, this the
end of his journey (and the last scene of the book), but for George it s just the beginning of guilt,
despair and true loneliness. Crooks, Curley, Candy and Curley s wife are all lonely, but all for
different reasons such as discrimination and prejudice. Crooks is a black man who has always been
pushed aside from every group. He is treated as second class, he

2016 Outlook For Automotive M A
The 2016 Outlook for Automotive M A
The easy money policy of the Federal Reserve and the cash swollen balance sheets of corporations
and private equity firms alike contributed to an explosion of deal making in 2015. Long term growth
in vehicle production and the positive outlook for vehicle sales over the next five years have made
automotive one of the leading sectors for M A. We expect deal activity in the automotive sector to
remain strong during 2016, but to taper off from 2015 levels. The biggest factor that will suppress deal
activity this year is the impending interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve. Other deal squelching
factors include geopolitical instability (e.g., in the Middle East and Russia) and the relative scarcity of
companies that can be purchased at bargain prices.
Favorable Conditions Exist for Automotive M A
Even though macroeconomic factors will have a chilling effect on deal activity, automotive is likely to
remain one of the hottest sectors for M A. During its resurgence over the past five years, the
automotive industry has been highly profitable. In addition, the growth prospects for the industry are
favorable, especially in light of the overall low growth economic environment. Despite the recovery,
economic growth in the U.S. and overseas has been stagnant. Average GDP growth in the U.S. over
the past five years is at 2.4 percent. Other leading world economies such as Japan, Germany, and the
United Kingdom have likewise experienced

Let s Stop Judging A Book By It s Cover
Just like Ghandhi said, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. There are plenty of times,
when we accidently may judge someone we don t know. For instance, when first going to a new class
full of people, or even a job interview. Isn t it crazy how one small conversation with someone you
don t know can change your total perspective on them? Personally, it happened to me so many times
and the people I thought were weird turned out to be one of the coolest people I know. Let s stop
judging a book by it s cover and actually read it and interpret it s true meaning.
Kwame Anthony Appiah, who is the author of the book Cosmopolitanism is also the Laurance S.
Rockefeller University Professor of Philosophy and a member of the University center for Human
Values. Appiah believes that conversation can help end separation and boundaries people have around
the world. Conversation can allow for cultural exchange, acceptance and resolve differences. After
reading Making Conversation and the Primacy of Practice I believe conversation works as a positive
model for resolving and managing world problems to a certain extent, depending on the
individual/people you are talking to. Overall, some people you will try to converse with may be hard
headed and so stuck on their views and others will be willing to compromise. Either way, conversation
opens doors to new thoughts, perspectives, and voices to unheard views.
Just like in math, there are so many ways to solve a problem. Just

What Role Does Fate Play In Macbeth
How Is Fate Decided? Fate played a crucial role throughout the story of Macbeth. From the time of
the three witches telling of the prophecy, Macbeth decided to take fate into his own hands. These
decisions ultimately lead to guilt, insanity and finally Macbeth s demise.
To start, the initial telling of the prophecy that started it all. It stated that Macbeth would become the
Thane of Cawdor, and then would ascend to be king. This prophesy also indicated that Banquo would
be the father of a future generation of kings, but would not be a king himself. This prophecy begins
Macbeth s quest for power. When Lady Macbeth hears this prophecy she becomes obsessed with the
idea of her husband becoming king and she develops a plan to make it happen ... Show more content

In Macbeth hallucinations and the decent into madness are shown as a result. As Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth finally begin to seal their fate, they did not take into account the consequences of their
actions and only looked ahead at the inevitable reward. They ultimately wanted to make sure their fate
was sealed as monarchs. In doing so, they became incredibly guilt stricken, proving that no sin goes
unpunished and showcasing the ultimate power of guilt. In Act I Lady Macbeth says that, A little water
clears us of this deed (II, II, 67) right after she and Macbeth carried out the murder of King Duncan.
However, in Act V those words come to haunt her as she hallucinates Duncan s blood on her hands
and is trying to wash it off while she is sleep walking, Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One, two. Why,
then, tis time to do t. Hell is murky! Fie, my lord, fie! A soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who
knows it, when none can call our power to account? yet who would have thought the old man to have
had so much blood in him (V, I, 25 29). Macbeth also has his share of hallucinations steaming from
guilt beginning with a bloody dagger that appears to him after he murders King Duncan, Is this a
dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not,
and yet I see thee still. Or art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a
dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form
as palpable as this which now I draw (II, I, 33 43). Macbeth s hallucination of Banquo s ghost
appearing at the banquet after Macbeth had him killed proves how guilty Macbeth felt inside. As the
ghost shook his head at Macbeth in disappointment, Macbeth exclaimed, Thou canst not say I did it.
Never shake thy gory locks at me (III, IV,

Birth control is a way for men and women to prevent pregnancy. There are many different methods of
birth control, including hormonal contraception such as the birth control pill.
Women take the pill by mouth to prevent pregnancy, and, when taken correctly, it is up to 99.9%
effective. However, the pill does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV (the
virus that causes AIDS). The latex male condom provides the best protection from most STDs. Other
types of combined estrogen and progestin hormonal contraception include the patch and the vaginal

Nursing and The Organizational Culture of Human Resource...
Organizational culture can play a very important role in any corporation s success. As we learn more
about how to make a company more successful through effective management of Human Resource,
we are learning of the value of people, as a whole, and how they contribute to the success or failure of
an organization. That s even more so true with in healthcare organizations. Nurses play a pivotal role
in the health care profession and make up the majority of healthcare workers in a hospital setting.
However, there is a nursing shortage globally that is expected to increase as nurses from the baby
boom era are set to retire. This is where human resource management and organizational culture come

a whole.
II. Literature Review
Culture, as defined by Florea, Goldbach, Goldbach (2011), is essential, as it affects service quality,
organizational productivity, and financial results. This occurs even more so in a hospital setting, an
area in which cultures vary within the healthcare providers and their patients. The literature on
organizational culture and its impact on nurses and the healthcare system are increasing in frequency
due to the increase in cultural variety noted in healthcare organizations. According to the article,
Improving Hospital Performance through Organizational Culture (2011), many prior researchers
believed that organizational culture had potential effects on employee motivation and behavior. They
believed that it affected employees productivity, performance, commitment, self confidence and
ethical behavior and many have tested the validity of this theory by researching and studying the
organizational cultures within several industries. Prior research has showed that there is a link between
excellent cultural organization and overall employee performance. Chee, Kamal, Wingender (2011)
decided to conduct a study of their own to determine how organizational culture

Hypothesis: IV: Water Exposure (mm) DV: Colour Change (secs) Relationship: Increase Decrease
Reason: More exposure to water will wash off sunscreen Hypothesis Statement: An increase of water

Cerner Millennium PowerChart vs. EpicCare Ambulatory EMR The introduction of the computerized
management systems into healthcare took place over 50 years ago. Since then systems have evolved
and become more intricate. They now serve many purposes that benefit patient care. It is a very large
and important decision when a healthcare system must choose a specific computerized management
system; from function, security, user friendliness, and cost. When this decision is made by a healthcare

quality of care and safety. Computerized management systems can also offer a closed loop medication
administration process thus increasing a patient s quality of care and safety. What this means is by use
of handheld barcode scanners or radio frequency identifier (RFID) tagged bracelets a patient can be
properly identified along with the medication that is being administered. This verifies you have the
RIGHT patient and the RIGHT medication that is order for the patient, thus significantly reducing
medication errors. Another way to improve a patient s quality of care is with the integration of
handheld devices by the nursing staff. An example is the use of a PDA or tablet. Many healthcare
providers are using these items today. These items allow for increased quality of care allow the
physician to access, ordering and review from almost anywhere. They also allow for real time
documentation; meaning with a PDA or tablet, a physician can be with their patient at the patients

talking with the patient then going to the chart and making notes and placing orders based off memory.
PDA s or tablets can also provide evidence based decision support by allowing access to many
different resources. This will again allow for improved quality of care for

Psychological Hypnosis
Throughout many year, hypnosis has evolved using a variety of techniques. Most of the techniques
were commonly used to perform clinical methods and principles. Psychologists had discovered the
aristocracy and medical theories of hypnosis by introducing it into the course for curing psychiatric
and physical illnesses. As the phenomena transforms throughout centuries, the origin of its term
follows. Medical doctors in France have embraced the new term hypnotism by the late 1800s,
although they had originally used the term mesmerism for the symptoms (Upshaw, 2006). However,

Consequently psychotherapy for medicinal purposes have not succeeded in accomplishing acceptance
to this day. The correlation towards this statement is the explanation that practitioners refrain from
looking into the theoretical understanding that psychological hypnosis is nothing other than a natural
process, which in this case, is often perceived to be impossible for students to learn and to demonstrate
the psychological changes thoroughly in order to practice and engage the skilful needs to interpret a

mind control, and the tool of spiritual seekers looking for past lives (Upshaw, 2006). Oftentimes,
surgeons would use hypnosis as a form of surgical anaesthetics to alter the patient into the desired
trance. This frequent treatment occurred without the use of medicinal anaesthesia by clinicians to
relieve the pain before undergoing a surgical procedure. Along the previous years, the theory of
hypnosis has made drastic changes in prospect, however the potential outcome on whether hypnosis

Benefits Of A New Team
When I was in Noida working for Headstrong, my team used to go out for lunch on special occasions.
As that area had quite many options, sometimes we used to be in a fix as to where to go. Another
reason for long decision making was because different people had their own tastes. And, few of them
had even been to places we were zeroing in on and didn t want to go again. Now, that was a mess as it
would delay our outings that were supposed to become a lifetime memory for a few at least! We tried
to plan well ahead in advance, but that also had issues as people wanted to delay it to the last minute.
We primarily relied on word of mouth recommendations and what we as a team preferred the most.
All in all, it used to go just fine most of the times. However, i remember one incident when one of our
new team members strongly recommended a restaurant to which his family were regular visitors for
many years. He was giving mouthwatering description of the dishes available there and most of us
melted like butter on a parantha and were looking forward to go there. Come the D day, being a
foodie, i was especially charged up; but there was one delay after another as few of the folks were held
up in meetings. It was way past my usual lunch time and finally, we went ahead around quarter to 3.
We were all very hungry but to our utter disappointment we found the place closed.
The colleague who had recommended us looked pretty sad and asked nearby shops if the restaurant
had closed for good.

Canterbury says, The king is full of grace, and fair regard.
Ely quotes and a true lover of the holy church.
The two bishops, pretty much have the same view on Henry, they think highly of him.
Henry s past is described by Ely and Canterbury, the two bishops. Canterbury quotes,
Since his addiction was to cause vain,
His companies unletter d, rude, and shallow,
His hours filled with riots, banquets, sports;
And never noted in him any study,
And retirement any sequestration,

Henry asks the archbishop if he feels that it is right to invade France. He questions the archbishop
asking him if his claim to the French throne is strong.
In this speech we hear the king asking the archbishop and in this speech he asks for one thing above
all else and that is for the archbishop to speak the truth through honesty, even if it s not what the king
wants to hear.
King Henry also asks of the law of Salic.
This is the law by which no claim can be made via the roots of a female relative, no female claim, this
shows us that the king takes war very seriously.
Reading this speech makes you realise that he does not want to rush things, he actually sees war as a
good thing.
Canterbury, involved in this speech begins his very long reply to the question. The answer is a very
interesting and intriguing, detailed speech.
Canterbury tells the king yes. He notifies the king, telling him that the law of Salic only applies to the
Salic land and that France it s self has no such restrictions to the throne.
Henry then really shows us his true characteristics of being a king.
King Henry is a master tactician of war and he realises that if he goes to France and leaves England
with no defences England would be exposing themselves for invasion, so he comes up with the idea

Analysis Of The Movie James Bond
Goldfinger Character Analysis Rough Draft James Bond is widely known for being a cunning secret
agent who will do everything to save whatever is in danger, anything from the world to an attractive
female, and doing even more just to get the girl. This may be so in the movie depictions, but in the
novels, James Bond can be depicted as a bumbling alcoholic who stumbles onto the right answers.
James Bond s successes are circumstantial by his actions, losses, and interactions with a variety of
characters from Ian Fleming s seventh James Bond novel, Goldfinger. Ian Fleming was born on May

Tropidoderus Kids Essay
Tropidoderus childrenii, more commonly known as Children s stick insect belongs in Kingdom
Animalia. As a member of Animalia, this specie is multicellular eukaryote like other members of the
kingdom. It reproduces sexually between male and female, creating unique individuals, and it is a
heterotroph that relies on plants for its survival.
Children s stick insect can be classified farther into Class Insecta in Phylum Arthropod. Like the other
species of insects, children s stick insect also has the characteristics that all insects of Arthropoda
share. First, it has something called exoskeleton which is external skeleton that helps arthropods to
protect from hazards as well as helping them to support themselves. Second, arthropods have bodies
divided into segments, but insects can be distinguished from other arthropods because they have
bodies divided into 3 major regions: the head with antennae, thorax, and abdomen. Third, arthropods
have jointed legs which are flexible and soft, allowing them to move even with rigid and hard bodies.
This allows Tropidoderus childrenii to crawl with its 6 legs, as well as using their wings to fly. Last,
arthropods have open circulatory system, which is different from closed circulatory system found in
humans. In open circulatory system, blood flows freely within the body cavity ... Show more content

As soon as the door opened, the heat hit me. It was like putting a hot iron in front of my face. But it

hours, is so strong that she can compare the death of Tybalt, cousin of years, 10,000 over to the
banishment of her husband. And slowly but surely, as the passage moves on Juliet s emotions take a
plunge as the passage ends with Juliet speaking the words And death, not Romeo, take my
maidenhead. Juliet expresses these words with pure desperation as she feels taking her own life is the
only solution to Tybalt s death and ultimately Romeo s

Dr. David Burns s The Feeling Good Handbook
Is your thought life making you ill? Mental health experts argee that it can. In fact, some ideas can
ruin you life.
Psychiatrist and educator, Dr. Aaron Temkin Beck (the father of Cognitive Emotive Therapy), first
proposed that false ideas could actually damage mental health. Dr. David Burns popularized this
notion in his book, The Feeling Good Handbook: Techniques and Exercises to Help Cope with
Depression without Drugs, a classic work in the field of mental health.
Though developed by Temkin in the 1960s, Cognitive Emotive Therapy has only grown in influence
within the mental health field during the past half century. Its therapies have become common tools in
the clinical treatment of depression and have been used by clinicians to address criminal behavior.
The first article in this issue of Watchmen, Assumption Busting, explores how faulty assumptions can
make our problem solving ineffective. Cognitive Emotive Therapy makes a broader claim. Mistaken
ideas can actually ruin our lives and health with bad decisions. Put another way, faulty (or irrational)
thinking makes us ill, but rational thinking restores our mental health and social balance.
According to Cognitive Therapy, our reasoning can fall into typical irrational traps. These traps are
automatic ways in which we have trained ourselves to misinterpret our experience. As a result, we
base our actions on faulty ideas that lead to bad choices.
The thinking traps listed below are among those Dr.

Gujarat, India 3modi8584@yahoo.com ABSTRACT: The various methods of wireless charging are
studied. With the increase in number of people using mobiles, the physical cables used for the
charging of the devices also increased. This increase in demand for the cables led to the idea of
Wireless charging. Wireless charging initially was a novelty but with the advancement in technology,
it has become a mainstream application now. Experiments have been conducted on the various
methods used for the wireless charging and some of the methods are discussed in the paper.
Keywords: wireless power transfer, resonant inductive coupling, ecoupled technology, nano battery,
solar panel. INTRODUCTION: A mobile phone charger is devised to recharge the battery in mobile
unit. A car s battery was placed directly inside the phones were used initially instead of cell phone
batteries which are used today. Most early cell phones were only able to be used in a vehicle because
they needed such large amounts of battery power. [1] Mobile phone batteries evolved and improved
with the time with different materials being used with the advancement in technology. Nickel

The And Its Effects On The Island Of Hokkaido And Northern...
In northern Japan, on the island of Hokkaido and a part of the Russian Sakhalin Island, lives a
mysterious ethnic group, called Ainu... They are very distinct from the Japanese people and, before the
Tungus invasion coming from mainland Asia (Korea and northern China), the whole archipelago was
inhabited by Ainu. Ainu are shorter than the Japanese people, with lighter skin, robust body and short
limbs. Unlike typical Mongoloids, their hair is wavy and the body hair is abundant; men wear large
beards and mustaches, considered a sign of beauty, to the point that married women tattoo their lower
face to mimic a beard... Bears are considered powerful spirits which can... benefit... people. When
Ainu manage to capture a bear cub, a woman is charged to take care of it as if a child: the little bear
lives and grows amongst the people of the village, getting accustomed to them. When it is 2 3 years
old, the bear is sacrificed. The men drink its blood to get its power, and then they cut the head off and
then fly the skin of the bear. Later, during family ceremonies, the bear skin occupies a prominent
place, and food and drink is offered to it like to an honored guest. The bear was considered by the
Ainu the mythological hero that taught them to fish, hunt, weave and so on. Ainu lived in rectangular
huts with walls and roof made of bundles of reed and rush. Ainu live in a clime where snowed winter
can last 6 7 months annually, and the summer is extremely rainy; the heat source is the

The International Business World Before You Enter It For...
When expanding a particular business internationally, you need to have a clear understanding of the
international business world before you enter it for great business success in the country of Hong
Kong. Hong Kong will definitely be investigated towards as to find out whether it is or is not a
desirable and appropriate location for the expansion of Infinite Health. Final decisions will then be
based on cultural issues, beliefs and ease of doing business in this particular country.
1.0 Essential Information when visiting Hong Kong
2.1 Location and Time Zones
Hong Kong is officially a part of China yet has their own legal system which is completely different to
China with their own currency along with their own laws. From Australia there is 5716 kilometres to
Hong Kong, in saying this Hong Kong is moderately north west from Australia meaning shipping
shouldn t take any longer than 10 12 business days to arrive, considering whether conditions give or
take a couple of days. Hong Kong and Australia are on the same time zones which coincide with each
other. Thus allowing the same amount of shipping time as you would from Australia to international
with the same time zones.
2.2 Population
According to Countrymeters.com the current 2015 population of Hong Kong stands at 6581.8 people
per square kilometre as of March 2015. With growing statistics each day the expected increase of
population is 130 persons daily. Hong Kong is currently 1104 km squared. During 2015 Hong Kong s

The Differences Between Buddhism And Buddhism
Renowned boxer Muhammad Ali once stated, Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams they all have different
names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do they all contain truths . Ali s words remain an
important lesson to learn from new disputes and violent events flood the news daily, and with each
passing day, people continue to argue the differences between the teachings of their spiritual leaders.
Most of them even tend to look over or ignore the vague connections these leaders share. Whether it is
Siddhartha Gautama or the Buddha , Muhammad, Jesus, or even Abraham, there are bound to be some
parallels between these founding fathers of religion. Among the numerous spiritual groups that exist in
the world, Christianity and Buddhism are two religions that, in actuality, share many similarities.
When one is able to look past the differences, it is plain to see that their spiritual leaders, Jesus and
Siddhartha Gautama (also known as Gautama Buddha or the Buddha ), were alike in more ways than
one. Both Jesus and the Buddha shared connections in their accentuation of leading humble, righteous
lives, their constant rejection of Satan and his advances, and in the fact that the religions they founded
both had roots in the ones they were raised with.
Jesus and the Buddha were adamant believers in living in a humble, upright manner, with a strong
detachment from material goods and money. Siddhartha Gautama was the Buddha s given name
before he became known as

Security Social Reform (SSR)
Security Sector Reform, or SSR, is a type of governmental assistance in which another country
supplies helpful support in the democratic direction. An example of this would be in Egypt when the
United States Government helped develop their democracy. This sector also helps those who are used
to being at war find places amongst society and be able to live their lives working a full time job,
rather than a rebel outpost. The SSR uses the help of the citizens currently in place to form the
democracy. In this sense, they do not go into the country and do anything. The SSR is assisting those
who are already there. The following is a synopsis of the SSR and how it could help, and possibly has
helped, the world. West Africa, a sometimes highly dangerous place, was subject to SSR attempts to
help. The SSR is currently trying to find the sources of threat, which are, as Adedeji Ebo states, ...it is
evident that the sources of threat are often internal and that the targets/victims are not merely states
and security forces. (Ebo). The SSR is still trying to help the government and to some degree it has
been successful. Another case was in Iraq, when the Iraqi government had problems as Arnold
Luethold states, However, the Coalition Provisional Authority s (CPA) decision to dissolve all the
forces, including the police forces, without prior consultation with Iraqis, has met considerable
criticism in Iraq and abroad, for it was perceived to undermine Iraq s stability. (Luethold).

Roger Waters Research Paper
Roger Waters is, in my opinion, the greatest English songwriter and musical artist of all time. If you
don t know who Waters is, he is the main lyricist and singer of the popular psychedelic rock band Pink
Floyd. The meanings in the poem like lyrics impact, or impacted, the lives of many people including
myself. The flow and general feel of the music seems to relax the brain, at least from my experience.
The hidden stories to his music is incredible as well as the phrasing and use of his language, although
there are some bad things about his music. The moving stories hidden within the lyrics of his music,
and songs of his albums are a great part of the Waters experience. In the play like album The Wall
(1979) it slowly explains the life of an overprotected boy named Pink. It goes through his life of how
his father died in World War II, and his eventual wall casting him from society and normal life. The
album shows personal isolation, neglect, and use of drugs throughout the ninety minutes it takes to
listen to it. The most popular album made by Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon (1973), which sold
over seventy million copies has a story, but not one within the album. The story to pay attention to is a
movie, The Wizard of Oz (1939). If you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words allow the songs to flow together with each other in a better way. They allow the listener to
better understand what is happening, without getting too confused. They address issues in this cruel
world allowing people to understand why things are the way they are in a way. The rhymes, similes,
and metaphors also help the music fit together better. Consistency is a reason why these aspects of
writing are important. With consistency, people stay, and listen. The music and mind of Waters is truly
genius. The countless great things about Roger Waters is great, but there are some bad things about his

Body Worn Cameras
Abstract Due to a series of recent police involved shootings, our nation has been filled with riots and
unrest. American citizens are demanding for more police accountability. One of the most popular
solutions to this problem is the implementation of body worn cameras. There have been very few
studies done on the effects of police forces wearing body worn cameras. I am proposing a year long
research study of the implementation of body worn cameras with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police
Department also known as IMPD. IMPD has six distinct districts that cover different parts of
Indianapolis and its suburbs. I will include all six districts in my study, and I will look at both the
types of use of force techniques that were used as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the officer had been wearing a camera, then there would have been evidence showing whether the
officer was guilty or not guilty in this case (Pelfrey Jr. Keener, 2016). After this tragic incident took
place, there were two different accounts of what occurred between Officer Wilson and Michael
Brown. Officer Wilson claimed that he shot Brown in self defense, but witnesses claimed Brown had
his hands up in the air when he was shot. This case is just one of many that is an example of why body
cameras need to be implemented by police forces nationwide. There will always be two sides to every
story, but only hard evidence can prove which side is telling the truth (Nunes, 2015). In the weeks that
followed the Michael Brown shooting, Ferguson was filled with violence, riots, and protests. There
was massive police resistance, and demonstrators were clashing with police officers. Ferguson was all
over the media and it brought up a lot of concerns. Among these concerns were police misconduct,
unnecessary use of force, racial profiling, and police response to rioting and the public recording these
incidences. It is apparent that the public consensus is that body worn cameras are the answer to
preventing another Ferguson from happening (Wasserman,

Many approaches have been undertaken into the study and analysis. The different stages of these studies have led to the advent of modern linguistics. This essay will focus of the contributions of Ferdinand de Sassure to the development of modern linguistics. It will focus on a few of the key concepts discussed and introduced by Sassure including structuralism and signs, which contributed to the development of modern linguistics. 2. The sound concept may be replaced instead by the signifier; the sound pattern or word that represents or refers to the concept and the signified; the concept that is represented by sound pattern or word. The signifier and the signified will then form the sign. For example, the concept of a key can be represented by signifiers in different languages. In the English language, the object used to open locks and other enclosures is represented by the signifier key . In French, the same concept or signified is represented by the signifier la clef . 4. CONCLUSION Ferdinand de Saussure s ideas laid a significant foundation for modern linguistics. His idea of making the language structure the central focus of linguistics enables linguists to break up a language into interconnected parts and analyse them individually. It also highlights the relationship between a language and the individuals that utilise the language, a vice versa. He also explained the relationship between sounds and utterances in a language and what they represent through semiology. • 3. Sectional Crisis Of 1860 The secession of the Confederate states can be attributed to the collapse of a longstanding system of political compromise. The factors responsible for this collapse were not only economic and political in nature but also societal. The beginning of the sectional crisis can be attributed to the Market Revolution and reform movements of the early 19th century. These cultural and economic changes subsequently influenced American politics, as evidenced by landmark events such as the Compromise of 1850, the acquisition of Mexican territory in 1858, the Wilmot Proviso, and finally the election of 1860. All of these events can be tied to changes in cultural attitudes throughout the North and South, which invariably related to the question of slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the acquisition of Mexican Territory in 1848, the question of slavery entered the American political spotlight in a way that had been avoided since the Missouri Compromise. This new territory threatened the precarious balance of political power between Northern free states and Southern slaveholding states. Finding a solution to this problem placed great stress on preexisting sectional tensions. One proposal that was widely supported in the North was the Wilmot Proviso, which called for the total halt of the expansion of slavery. This meant that no new slaveholding states could be admitted to the Union, tipping the balance of power in favor of the North, which the South was vehemently opposed to. Although the Proviso was not adopted it resulted in a total breakdown of the party system along sectional lines and was indicative of an increasing unwillingness on both sides for the political compromise that had one been the norm as exemplified by the Missouri Compromise. Northern opposition to the Fugitive Slave Act, which was introduced by the Compromise of 1850, is further evidence of this growing animosity between the two main factions of American society. Southerners saw Northern refusal to comply with the Fugitive Slave Act as an affront to their Constitutionally assured property rights. The final straw as far as the collapse of political compromise in America was the election of 1860. The result was the election of Abraham Lincoln, a Northern Republican candidate staunchly opposed to the expansion of slavery. Lincoln s particular brand of antislavery sentiment appealed to a wide range of Northerners, his procolonization attitude and emphasis on Constitutional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These specific allusions gave readers a more accurate understanding of certain aspects of the book. As well as this, readers are capable of searching beyond just the surface of what the words say. The common use of biblical references and myths, as well as other notations, provide a more in depth and detailed analyzation throughout the entire novel. To start off, Song of Solomon s title relates to the biblical book of the same name. This emphasizes that the novel addresses more of an old aged theme. The bible based book focuses on a conversation between two lovers and Toni s novel is a celebration of the success of earthly love. Morrison also gives her characters biblical names in order to match them with the well known figures. These characters not only obtain their original history, but the history that their name carries in the Bible, as well. For example, the biblical character, Hagar, is Sarah s handmaiden, who bears Sarah s husband a son and is then banished from his sight. Similar to the previous one mentioned, Morrison s character is often used by Milkman. He takes advantage of everything she has to offer and uses it for his own selfish benefits. This response addresses question four and define the provided theories, which include structural functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. In doing so, various components of the theories are identified in relation to the topic of social change. In doing so, it is important to point out that in sociology, theories are used to explain the patterns, the way groups of people decide to perform specific actions, and the way societies do certain things or rather experience a change in a different manner. On the other hand, social change implies the growth and development of a social order, which bears some significant consequences. To begin with, structural functionalism looks at the society as a bundle of a complex system with different parts that work to support the whole. It stipulates that a society is a combination of interrelated components, which work independently, but seek to achieve a common goal, which supports the growth of the whole system. Would you respond calmly, call animal control or even walk away? Just because the dog is mean doesn t make it aggressive. Aggression is such a broad term and it s not all bad. The four types I am going to address are protective aggression, territorial aggression, fear motivated aggression, and pain induced aggression. Aggression that happens when a mother protects a family member whether it is human or another animal is called protective aggression. Dogs that want to protect/defend their home or area is territorial aggression. An example is when you dog chases up and down the fence line. When a dog is scared it may protect itself for their own safety. That is known as fear motivated aggression. This often occurs most then a dog is stuck or cornered. Pain induced aggression is when a dog is in pain it can respond aggressively. When they do that it is to try and help their selves but it may injury someone else. That is why when you are approaching a wounded animal you do so with caution. A lot of people say aggression is random but it s not. Aggression can be triggered many ways. • 17. Art Analysis Of Donatello By One Of The Patron Saint Mark ART ANALYSIS: SAINT MARK The Italian artist Donatello was selected by one of the guilds in Florence to make a sculpture of their patron Saint Mark, and Donatello delivered. In the early fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. Finally the statue was finished in 1413, and truthfully the back of the statue was not fully completed because the back was not going to be displayed. When Donatello finished this magnificent piece of art, the guild was actually quite critical of the figure that stands seven feet nine inches tall. The figure was also profound because it used the contrapposto stance, in which the figure is asymmetrical. This stance had been forgotten by artists all throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important. Donatello also considered the angle at which the statue of Saint Mark would be seen, from down below. Donatello purposefully made Saint Mark s head and hands and torso elongated; this would be ... Lennie s movement is compared to that of a bear, As silently as a creeping bear moves , when he gets to the river he falls to his knees and laps up the water like an animal, just as he did at the beginning of the book. The book rounds off nicely; starting just where it had begun. Plus the first and last scenes are both described in the same manner, and both scenes talk of a water snake, with a periscope head slithering across the deep green river. In the first scene it s just sliding along no problems. However in the last scene, as it copies this gilding along the river, it s eaten by a heron. The heron symbolizes Lennie s destiny. The first scene is set at sunrise, at the beginning of the week and the beginning of George and Lennie s journey. When the week is ending and the sun is setting Lennie is shot, this the end of his journey (and the last scene of the book), but for George it s just the beginning of guilt, despair and true loneliness. • 21. 2016 Outlook For Automotive M A The 2016 Outlook for Automotive M A The easy money policy of the Federal Reserve and the cash swollen balance sheets of corporations and private equity firms alike contributed to an explosion of deal making in 2015. Long term growth in vehicle production and the positive outlook for vehicle sales over the next five years have made automotive one of the leading sectors for M A. We expect deal activity in the automotive sector to remain strong during 2016, but to taper off from 2015 levels. The biggest factor that will suppress deal activity this year is the impending interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve. Other deal squelching factors include geopolitical instability (e.g., in the Middle East and Russia) and the relative scarcity of companies that can be purchased at bargain prices. Favorable Conditions Exist for Automotive M A Even though macroeconomic factors will have a chilling effect on deal activity, automotive is likely to remain one of the hottest sectors for M A. During its resurgence over the past five years, the automotive industry has been highly profitable. In addition, the growth prospects for the industry are favorable, especially in light of the overall low growth economic environment. Overall, some people you will try to converse with may be hard headed and so stuck on their views and others will be willing to compromise. In doing so, they became incredibly guilt stricken, proving that no sin goes unpunished and showcasing the ultimate power of guilt. In Act I Lady Macbeth says that, A little water clears us of this deed (II, II, 67) right after she and Macbeth carried out the murder of King Duncan. However, in Act V those words come to haunt her as she hallucinates Duncan s blood on her hands and is trying to wash it off while she is sleep walking, Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One, two. Why, then, tis time to do t. Hell is murky! Fie, my lord, fie! A soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him (V, I, 25 29). Macbeth also has his share of hallucinations steaming from guilt beginning with a bloody dagger that appears to him after he murders King Duncan, Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Or art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form as palpable as this which now I draw (II, I, 33 43). Psychiatrist and educator, Dr. Aaron Temkin Beck (the father of Cognitive Emotive Therapy), first proposed that false ideas could actually damage mental health. Dr. David Burns popularized this notion in his book, The Feeling Good Handbook: Techniques and Exercises to Help Cope with Depression without Drugs, a classic work in the field of mental health. Though developed by Temkin in the 1960s, Cognitive Emotive Therapy has only grown in influence within the mental health field during the past half century. Its therapies have become common tools in the clinical treatment of depression and have been used by clinicians to address criminal behavior. The first article in this issue of Watchmen, Assumption Busting, explores how faulty assumptions can make our problem solving ineffective. Cognitive Emotive Therapy makes a broader claim. Mistaken ideas can actually ruin our lives and health with bad decisions. Put another way, faulty (or irrational) thinking makes us ill, but rational thinking restores our mental health and social balance. According to Cognitive Therapy, our reasoning can fall into typical irrational traps. These traps are automatic ways in which we have trained ourselves to misinterpret our experience. As a result, we base our actions on faulty ideas that lead to bad choices. The thinking traps listed below are among those Dr. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In northern Japan, on the island of Hokkaido and a part of the Russian Sakhalin Island, lives a mysterious ethnic group, called Ainu... • 44. The Differences Between Buddhism And Buddhism Renowned boxer Muhammad Ali once stated, Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do they all contain truths . Ali s words remain an important lesson to learn from new disputes and violent events flood the news daily, and with each passing day, people continue to argue the differences between the teachings of their spiritual leaders. Most of them even tend to look over or ignore the vague connections these leaders share. Whether it is Siddhartha Gautama or the Buddha , Muhammad, Jesus, or even Abraham, there are bound to be some parallels between these founding fathers of religion. Among the numerous spiritual groups that exist in the world, Christianity and Buddhism are two religions that, in actuality, share many similarities. When one is able to look past the differences, it is plain to see that their spiritual leaders, Jesus and Siddhartha Gautama (also known as Gautama Buddha or the Buddha ), were alike in more ways than one. Both Jesus and the Buddha shared connections in their accentuation of leading humble, righteous lives, their constant rejection of Satan and his advances, and in the fact that the religions they founded both had roots in the ones they were raised with. Jesus and the Buddha were adamant believers in living in a humble, upright manner, with a strong detachment from material goods and money. Siddhartha Gautama was the Buddha s given name before he became known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Security Social Reform (SSR) Security Sector Reform, or SSR, is a type of governmental assistance in which another country supplies helpful support in the democratic direction. An example of this would be in Egypt when the United States Government helped develop their democracy. This sector also helps those who are used to being at war find places amongst society and be able to live their lives working a full time job, rather than a rebel outpost. The SSR uses the help of the citizens currently in place to form the democracy. In this sense, they do not go into the country and do anything. The SSR is assisting those who are already there. The following is a synopsis of the SSR and how it could help, and possibly has helped, the world. West Africa, a sometimes highly dangerous place, was subject to SSR attempts to help. The SSR is currently trying to find the sources of threat, which are, as Adedeji Ebo states, ...it is evident that the sources of threat are often internal and that the targets/victims are not merely states and security forces. (Ebo). The SSR is still trying to help the government and to some degree it has been successful. Another case was in Iraq, when the Iraqi government had problems as Arnold Luethold states, However, the Coalition Provisional Authority s (CPA) decision to dissolve all the forces, including the police forces, without prior consultation with Iraqis, has met considerable criticism in Iraq and abroad, for it was perceived to undermine Iraq s stability. • 46. Roger Waters Research Paper Roger Waters is, in my opinion, the greatest English songwriter and musical artist of all time. If you don t know who Waters is, he is the main lyricist and singer of the popular psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd. The meanings in the poem like lyrics impact, or impacted, the lives of many people including myself. The flow and general feel of the music seems to relax the brain, at least from my experience. The hidden stories to his music is incredible as well as the phrasing and use of his language, although there are some bad things about his music. The moving stories hidden within the lyrics of his music, and songs of his albums are a great part of the Waters experience. In the play like album The Wall (1979) it slowly explains the life of an overprotected boy named Pink. It goes through his life of how his father died in World War II, and his eventual wall casting him from society and normal life. The album shows personal isolation, neglect, and use of drugs throughout the ninety minutes it takes to listen to it. The most popular album made by Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon (1973), which sold over seventy million copies has a story, but not one within the album. The story to pay attention to is a movie, The Wizard of Oz (1939). If you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The words allow the songs to flow together with each other in a better way. • 47. Body Worn Cameras Abstract Due to a series of recent police involved shootings, our nation has been filled with riots and unrest. American citizens are demanding for more police accountability. One of the most popular solutions to this problem is the implementation of body worn cameras. There have been very few studies done on the effects of police forces wearing body worn cameras. I am proposing a year long research study of the implementation of body worn cameras with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department also known as IMPD. IMPD has six distinct districts that cover different parts of Indianapolis and its suburbs. I will include all six districts in my study, and I will look at both the types of use of force techniques that were used as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the officer had been wearing a camera, then there would have been evidence showing whether the officer was guilty or not guilty in this case (Pelfrey Jr. Keener, 2016). After this tragic incident took place, there were two different accounts of what occurred between Officer Wilson and Michael Brown. Officer Wilson claimed that he shot Brown in self defense, but witnesses claimed Brown had his hands up in the air when he was shot. This case is just one of many that is an example of why body cameras need to be implemented by police forces nationwide. There will always be two sides to every story, but only hard evidence can prove which side is telling the truth (Nunes, 2015). In the weeks that followed the Michael Brown shooting, Ferguson was filled with violence, riots, and protests. There was massive police resistance, and demonstrators were clashing with police officers. Ferguson was all over the media and it brought up a lot of concerns. Among these concerns were police misconduct, unnecessary use of force, racial profiling, and police response to rioting and the public recording these incidences. It is apparent that the public consensus is that body worn cameras are the answer to preventing another Ferguson from happening (Wasserman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
